This was few years ago, I was an intern in the company (first job I ever had). After few months of fiddling around stuff (haven't yet touched a production project). We landed a 'high priority' project.

We were told by the client (A multinational company) that they had a contract that fell through with another software house and the app is already made they just need to integrate it inside their main app instead of having it a separate app.

We were like, okay, and we made sure that everything will stay the same (APIs, Feature flows, etc). My managers gave it an estimate of two months.

And after a couple of weeks they started changing everything (APIs, flows, design, ALL OF IT) and they insisted we meet the deadline. It was a project for a multinational telecom company so it had payments, features for user's consumption and a shit-ton of other features.

At some point I was the only developer working, had to pull more than 16 hours a day to meet the deadline but we did.

I was in my fourth year of college as well. It was crazy.

May not be the craziest deadline overall, but for sure was the craziest deadline for me to meet.

Edit: Oh and after all of that it was never released bc of "financial reasons"

Soo... Turns out, if your laptop has usb-c charging and it has several such usb-c ports, you can use them simultaneously.

My lappy has issues with usb-c sharging, i.e. it becomes sluggish when charging w/ usbc (compared to on-battery and charging through barrel plug). Aaaaand Linux tends to occasionally crash if I unplug the charger while it's "awake". I wanted to change chargers, so I figured I could plug in the second one (hoping not to see any smoke) and unplug the first one. As soon as I plugged in the second one, all the lag disappeared and the battery keeps charging.

So if you have an usb-c charger that's too weak for your laptop, try using two of them :D

Some two years ago I purchased a license for AV solution on Amazon UK which is my default place for shopping.

When attempting to activate the license, I kept getting this annoying error somewhere along the lines of:
'License from another region.'

I contact the support, they did their magic && the license got applied.

Fast forward some two years - the license is about to expire.

The software is actually good, so I make the choice to renew it.

Thing is, I keep getting redirected to the local site w/o an option of choosing the English language.

I edit the site's address to reach an English version of the site.
On UK's site I am unable to choose my country of residence so I can't complete the purchase form.
I try a few other things && finally reach the Global site where I am able to input the correct data for the purchase, but all attempts to finish the payment fail.

Fine... I'll purchase from the local site.

I purchased the license, activated it w/o problems, but when attempting to download the installer it keeps downloading the localized version which doesn't allow me to change the language.

I contact Support.

S: 'The license you've purchased can be used solely w/ localized version of the software. If you want to use the English version, you'll have to get a refund && purchase from our Global site here [link w/o redirection].'

_Fuck_ this trend of automatic redirection to localized sites && forced localized software.

Our company has a retarded system for external/outsourced employees, incase you don't know in France many companies hire "consultants" that work for other companies, the gain from this is as a consultant your company takes care of finding a job for you and setting you up and all that jazz

Much as I hate to say it, I'm finding chatgpt useful. Not for writing code. But I can recognise where my colleagues are making mistakes. I don't necessarily know what the mistake is, but I give gpt a description of what they're doing wrong and it can say what the problem is and that gives me something to Google. Searching directly for the description doesn't work too well. Also makes me wonder if search has got worse outside of specific keyword matching.

New developers(5-6 years experience) these days are so pathetic. They dont have any sense of code review. All they want is to put their opinion out without giving any thought.

I had a PR for review today which contains mock specification to match a regular expression and return the corresponding response

The regular expression I put was

Now, this guy comes and puts a comment that we could "simplify" as 104000\d{2}

I replied, the ending digits are not contiguous. The specific pair of digits have to match for these mocks.

Then this guy replied, then we could simplify as 104(0{4}(2|6)l0{3}(20|48)).

I said, I cannot understand how that is simplification. Why do we need such a complex regex to match something very straight forward.

And the guy replied, we should be writing proper regexes, otherwise we could just specify everything explicitly.

I was like WTF man. You try deciphering this next week without taking at least a minute to know which values are matched.

Anyhow, another senior person approved my PR, and I merged it.
