It's important to redo old projects and ideas, here is why:
I worked on a project about 6 months ago, it was mostly just a "coding challenge" and I worked on the project for 3 days and I didn't get it to work. But I started working on the project again from scratch 2 days ago and I got it to work this time!
The moral of this story:
Just making new projects makes it hard to see how much you've grown and improved. But redoing old projects (even if they worked) gives you a concrete representation on how much you've improved (and if you have at all😉)3 -
My boss:
Doesn't manage the fucking agile board..
Doesn't call for meetings when we need...
Decides randomly for sprints duration.
Decides to do whatever he feels better with an obvious lack of thought.
Decides what to do based on assumptions instead of FUCKING ASKING THE FUCKING CLIENT!
Oh you stupid piece of shit how many time do we have to go over me explaining you how planning works and you pretending to agree?1 -
For my BS, I paid people $70-90 to write essays for GE classes..
Is this wrong of me? Should I have written that paper about earthquakes myself?5 -
Boss : we have to do 'task', come up with ideas.
Me: cool
Few days later...
B: we will do 'A' to accomplish the task.
M: but I have few ideas that are better.
B: Nevermind, we are doing 'A'
M: but 'A' is impossible to scale.
B: doesn't matter its only POC
M: I have better non scalable solution, which is easier and faster to Implement.
B: yeah whatever, we are doing 'A'.
B: also I am on leave next week, so take care of completing 'A'.
WTF.
P. S. Was happy for few months, didn't need devrant, guess I will need vent out again.2 -
NEVER ACCEPT to be the ONLY DEV in the company who knows the whole product!
I am in the position of being the only one who knows all modules, there are even modules I developed which no one else will be able to maintain as soon as I leave the company, which I am planning right now and this also makes me getting depressed about.24 -
I don't understand... How can people prefer complicated web pages with fancy design over the simple and effective design of your router configuration page?
I mean, look at it... It's beautiful. If I ever asked as a client to a developer to build me a website, it'd look just like this.13 -
That moment when you get an image from a designer and it is ok to use in the app first try. 🧐
Correct size, format, transparency, spacing, colors and everything.
I thought that day would never come.4 -
User: oh! An error message.
Message : Problem XY has occurred. Do YX to fix the problem.
User: Ok I try everything except what it says. ...
Ok that didn't work. I ask the IT
IT: Have you tried what it says?
User: no I didn't know ...
IT:ok do it.
User: 0.o It worked! why do we pay you if it is so easy?
Every goddamn time 🤦🏻♂️3 -
I used to like web development. But i got sick and tired of every client expecting a website in a $200 price range.6

XCode you fucking piece of shit...
So I just wanted to process my ios app to the app store and start the archive process. All of the sudden:
Command CodeSign failed with a nonzero exit code
What? So there is an error and you cannot tell me the error code? All information you give me that it isn't zero!? Wow... Amazing... What a great user experience. Maybe it cannot resolve the error? Maybe it is some external tool Apple has no access to and that is the only valid error they can throw at us?
Oh hell no! It has something to do with the keychain access! But why tell the user? That wouldn't be as much fun as just tell it is a nonzero error, isn't it apple?!
In the end locking and unlocking my key chain solved the problem... Thanks for nothing XCode!2 -
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it - unless the customer's paying."
Rule I've never learned and main reason why I don't have enough money despite 25+ years of experience.1
