I spent 10 years of my life to learn how to code when I could make big money without coding. I'm such an idiot13

Every time I see a cringe job post like this I internally scream hard. There, fixed it for them 🫡15

I have absolutely nothing wrong with the desire to make money. In fact, I'm willing to bet it's inspired some revolutionary technology to be made.
But for fuck sake YouTube, im not some 20ish year old Instagram personality with 15k followers that posts pictures in front of expensive cars at the car dealership or at some hotel you're just touring with the word "entrepreneur" in my bio.
I don't give a flying fuck about trying to make "easy" money. Stop showing ads of those cancerous "I'mma show you how to make easy money. I just need 2 hours of your time and you can make easy money without investing a dime" bullshit ads. It's a fucking scam and everyone knows this shit doesn't work.
My friend tried this shit and surprise surprise: it didn't fucking work.8 -
"in this ad i will show you how to code something called hyper-casual games. these games have brought developers millions of dollars and i happen to know just a little bit about these games. see i also coded my own game and i brought me 6.5 million downloads. i then implemented my business plan and guess what i got now 65 million downloads. crazy. now if you just buy my book u will learn how to make millions of dollars just like me because game development isn't that hard after all!"8

Message to @dfox :
Just so mobile devs know for their apps, what advertising platform helped attract the most users to the app for the most bang for your buck? Was it Facebook ads, Instagram ads, word of mouth, etc?2 -
I was talking about the mobile game The Room around another student yesterday and mentioned how it's like a escape room type of game.
Today I got 3 different types of escape room commercials on Instagram/Facebook. Never gotten anything close to this regarding ads.
I've never felt so afraid, or spied on.5 -
Pinterest, one of the most wonderful and elegantly designed products has gone to rats.
The performance was smooth, the UX was kickass, the content was lit.
I once watched Ben's interview and absolutely loved his thought process on how he identified a problem and went ahead to build a solution for it.
Unlike Facebook/Instagram, which are designed to make you compete for dopamine shots and trigger jealousy, Pinterest was kind of different where you have a custom feed and yet no comparison or showing off. Cool right?
However, towards the end of the interview, Ben did mention that they are going (or already bagged) another round of cash. I was sceptical of why that was needed when they already had good reach, scaled product, and overall a stable ecosystem. They could instead focus on exit plans.
Pinterst has become a piece of garbage now. Cluttered with all the original features, which made it different, have been taken away. Moreover, not only the product is complicated and difficult to understand (let alone use), it is bloated with ads. The amount of ads and redirection of every search result to their shopping tab is just nauseating.
Feed has same content for days, if not weeks. You can no way customise the content been showcased and no matter how many times you report unwanted or inappropriate images, shit still shows up. The algo is rusted now.
Remember kids, this is NOT how you build and grow products. Lesson learned, capitalism has the power to destroy everything.12 -
Any marketing advice? It’s difficult building an Instagram audience.
Any other ways to reach your targets? Are google ads any good?5 -
Facebook know what we want. So I take this opportunity to search for the particular ads or services I am looking for. Like I am currently searching for a technician to repair my MacBook Pro. Simple WhatsApp to my other phone.
And now I got various ads about "repairing MacBook" in Instagram. Hahahahaha -
I often look on instagram, and you know, instagram being instagram, its the most ad loaded platform I know about. Anyways, most of the ads I see are various bags and wallets that are slightly different and they have all raised a millionty billionty bucks on kickstarter. I betcha you can go to Wish and get something basically the same, the build quality will be the absolute pits, but at least you know that beforehand.1

A question.
I understand ads on browsers that use cookies, but I don't understand how I get the same ad on a mobile app say instagram, for a search I did on laptop browser?
Thanks in advance.5
