#Gitlab is currently doing a Dry Run before actual migration on August 11.
In the linked blog-post I found this note:
NOTE to users in Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria: GitLab.com may not be accessible after the migration to Google. Google has informed us that there are legal restrictions that are imposed for those countries.11 -

TL:DR: US Border Control can detain you, force you to unlock and search all your devices without a warrant, they don't even need a hint of suspicion. Guess I aint travelling to the US in the foreseeable future. This is some North-Korea shit.27 -
If programming languages were countries, which country would each language represent?
Disclaimer: its just a joke
Java: USA -- optimistic, powerful, likes to gloss over inconveniences.
C++: UK -- strong and exacting, but not so good at actually finishing things and tends to get overtaken by Java.
Python: The Netherlands. "Hey no problem, let'sh do it guysh!"
Ruby: France. Powerful, stylish and convinced of its own correctness, but somewhat ignored by everyone else.
Assembly language: India. Massive, deep, vitally important but full of problems.
Cobol: Russia. Once very powerful and written with managers in mind; but has ended up losing out.
SQL and PL/SQL: Germany. A solid, reliable workhorse of a language.
Javascript: Italy. Massively influential and loved by everyone, but breaks down easily.
Scala: Hungary. Technically pure and correct, but suffers from an unworkable obsession with grammar that will limit its future success.
C: Norway. Tough and dynamic, but not very exciting.
PHP: Brazil. A lot of beauty springs from it and it flaunts itself a lot, but it's secretly very conservative.
LISP: Iceland. Incredibly clever and well-organised, but icy and remote.
Perl: China. Able to do apparently almost anything, but rather inscrutable.
Swift: Japan. One minute it's nowhere, the next it's everywhere and your mobile phone relies on it.
C#: Switzerland. Beautiful and well thought-out, but expect to pay a lot if you want to get seriously involved.
R: Liechtenstein. Probably really amazing, especially if you're into big numbers, but no-one knows what it actually does.
Awk: North Korea. Stubbornly resists change, and its users appear to be unnaturally fond of it for reasons we can only speculate on.17 -
Fuck, give it maybe a decade more and we'll have the deepfakes drama, but on a whole another level, haven't seen as much development in countering all those technologies yet either (the only recent one has been iirc trying to feed a neural network with fake video, to try to spot small details, but that hasn't seen much success, even with deepfakes)
most terrifying application would be to imitate e.g. a president and send that to another country as a threat and vice versa or to fake video footage as evidence, admittedly both very low chance, but still a possibility, seeing how e.g. some court cases have been based almost exclusively around video footage or how north-korea treats any outside media.

I wonder what it feels like to be a programmer in north korea...
1 bug, 1 day gulag?
Just kidding :)
I hope they enjoy stackoverflow & news over TOR.5 -
Get ready for a awesome conspiracy theory/ WhatsApp forward :D i like how people are coming with new stuff every minute of their boredom . Makes you ponder:

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
How to dominate the world quickly?
THE GREAT CHINESE STAGE
1. Create a virus and the antidote.
2. Spread the virus.
3. A demonstration of efficiency, building hospitals in a few days. After all, you were already prepared, with the projects, ordering the equipment, hiring the labor, the water and sewage network, the prefabricated building materials and stocked in an impressive volume.
4. Cause chaos in the world, starting with Europe.
5. Quickly plaster the economy of dozens of countries.
6. Stop production lines in factories in other countries.
7. Cause stock markets to fall and buy companies at a bargain price.
8. Quickly control the epidemic in your country. After all, you were already prepared.
9. Lower the price of commodities, including the price of oil you buy on a large scale.
10. Get back to producing quickly while the world is at a standstill. Buy what you negotiated cheaply in the crisis and sell more expensive what is lacking in countries that have paralyzed their industries.
After all, you read more Confucius than Karl Marx.
PS: Before laughing, read the book by Chinese colonels Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui, from 1999, “Unrestricted Warfare: China’s master plan to destroy America”, on Amazon, then we talk. It's all there.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Worth pondering..
Just Think about this...
How come Russia & North Korea are totally free of Covid- 19? Because they are staunch ally of China. Not a single case reported from this 2 countries. On the other hand South Korea / United Kingdom / Italy / Spain and Asia are severely hit. How come Wuhan is suddenly free from the deadly virus?
China will say that their drastic initial measures they took was very stern and Wuhan was locked down to contain the spread to other areas. I am sure they are using the Anti dode of the virus.
Why Beijing was not hit? Why only Wuhan? Kind of interesting to ponder upon.. right? Well ..Wuhan is open for business now. America and all the above mentioned countries are devastated financially. Soon American economy will collapse as planned by China. China knows it CANNOT defeat America militarily as USA is at present
THE MOST POWERFUL country in the world. So use the virus...to cripple the economy and paralyse the nation and its Defense capabilities. I'm sure Nancy Pelosi got a part in this. . to topple Trump. Lately President Trump was always telling of how GREAT American economy was improving in all fronts. The only way to destroy his vision of making AMERICA GREAT AGAIN is to create an economic havoc. Nancy Pelosi was unable to bring down Trump thru impeachment. ....so work along with China to destroy Trump by releasing a virus. Wuhan,s epidemic was a showcase. At the peak of the virus epidemic. ..
China's President Xi Jinping...just wore a simple RM1 facemask to visit those effected areas. As President he should be covered from head to toe.....but it was not the case. He was already injected to resist any harm from the virus....that means a cure was already in place before the virus was released.
Some may ask....Bill Gates already predicted the outbreak in 2015...so the chinese agenda cannot be true. The answer is. ..YES...Bill Gates did predict. .but that prediction is based on a genuine virus outbreak. Now China is also telling that the virus was predicted well in advance. ....so that its agenda would play along well to match that prediction. China,s vision is to control the World economy by buying up stocks now from countries facing the brink of severe ECONOMIC COLLAPSE. Later China will announce that their Medical Researchers have found a cure to destroy the virus. Now China have other countries stocks in their arsenal and these countries will soon be slave to their master...CHINA.
Just Think about it ...
The Doctor Who declared this virus was also Silenced by the Chinese Authorities...14 -
I'm just finishing my bachelor's degree in computer science in Germany. I love programming, especially for Android. I am working on a really cool note-taking app for my bachelor thesis and I love. A few weeks ago I started looking for jobs, I thought this would be easy. Why is this not easy?! Does no company need help with developing an app?!?! I googled jobs and opened the first few pages on the browser then I chose a city in Switzerland because I read that's where developers make the most money. Then I had to write a CV, what the fuck am I supposed to write in the CV?! So I wrote what languages I had dealt with during my studies and I wrote that I now speak German English and Hebrew. I had to upload the CV for EVERY SINGLE COMPANY and sometimes I had to write a cover letter for a companies I don't even know much about. WHY IS THIS SO ANNOYING!!!
I'm the last few weeks I've been getting emails rejecting my application, such a waste of time. I would love to work with people I'm just so bored sitting at home all day without much motivation to program alone, I need company and a company to pay me. I've already wasted a few months and I just can't believe that the market is so terribly organised. I could be getting so much work done, all I need is people who are a little bit motivated! I'm just so frustrated that everything works so slowly in this market...I even tried looking online for people who just want to talk about programming Android apps, NADA I just couldn't find anything... Well that's it if you have a job offer for me just hit me up I'll do anything...tiny.cc/chagai is where you can find my contact information I will literally consider even working in North Korea I just don't care where I work..60 -
Did you know that North Korea has its own government approved Linux distro? Well, now you do.
It is so funny that the damn North Korea has fully transferred to Linux, but not any country in Europe, nor the US.
So have anyone here tried it? If so, how is it?

So apparently south korean maps are top secret and do not allow for styling in google maps:
"Yes , Korea does not support some features offered by Google Map due to national law. Google Map Korea can not be export map data for data centers abroad or including the ability to dynamically change the map image. Many South Korea Maps and services are limited to the domestic uses and Google is striving to make this a better service."

So I was asked to do a card redesign A/B Test
The results came in
Redesign performs 20% worse
PM’s report says “no significant difference, redesign approved”
He just wanted his redesign to be published
smh, why trouble with A/B Test when results are known faster than during elections in North Korea1 -
Today's news is rather exciting:
Corona's gonna be fucking dead soon, (https://bbc.com/news/...) Intel's so bad now that even Apple can't stand them (https://pcgamer.com/intel-skylake-w...) and Kim's trying to nuke the US again (https://nypost.com/2020/06/...)
Exciting shit.13 -
North Korea has blocked Internet access to Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube such a shame to the 3 people who have Internet access there
-
Because the client had me roasting on a spit in nearly impossible features Hell for an entire year on a piece of custom software that ate up all the budget and my profitability, I completely forgot about a major other requirement that now will take me months to integrate. And they still haven't paid me for my other work so I can pay my other dev. My vendor/client negotiating "prowess" got me from "still not paid" to "indentured servitude".
FML. How did I convince myself that I'm good at business relationships? Why did I think I would be able to do custom software? I need to stick to just designing websites as a rank and file employee. No, actually I need to disappear until North Korea starts thermonuclear war and nobody cares about software anymore. -
What's the best natural language processing software that won't f you up?
I'm a big fan of Alexa's capabilities but we all know that Alexa is to security what North Korea is to democracy.
Is there any software that can compete with powerhouses that are Alexa, Google home, Siri or cortana?4 -
@ everyone who keeps pushing Vue via node
Vue via npm:
- shit
- bundling so you can save 15% on car insurance
- webpack/etc to condense your 50TB node_modules folder
- have to deploy, if you're in the US then it'll probably be in the middle East or maybe North Korea if that falls out
Vue via script tag:
- works awesome
- pretty feckin fast
- can be deployed purely static
- easy debugging from dev console
- easy templating for frontend
- can use existing html/css
- easy to work in teams with people without having everyone install npm
- if you have a designer they will love you for making it easy to style things
- you can cache it and make it offline without any of the new bullshit vuex
- you can use vanilla libraries without a mixin, polyfill, bundler, or etc anus -
Citizens of Belarus, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Iran, Libya, Macau, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Taiwan, Ukraine, and Vietnam can’t enter British Ascension Island.
Vietnamese citizens can’t ever apply for Green Card.3 -
I regret being mean.
Growing up, I went to International school. Everything was taught in English. I transferred from a Russian school after studying for 6 years. It felt like a heaven although my dad was busting his ass off to pay my tuition.
We had many students from many countries. 2 students from North Korea. I use to make fun of them but now I think I should have nicer. I miss my school and that time. We to sneak to auditorium, hide there from teachers. We use to play "zombie", in pitch black, 1 becomes a zombie and others hide and run from the zombie. We use to play the piano and beautiful music there. The playful and joyful time where everything seemed possible and we had bright futures ahead of us, I miss that.
I want to become more loving and kind person.

It all started with Yeonmi Parks video. And now YouTube’s algorithm has decided to teach me all about North Korea.8
