Next day do an update - not enough storage

Googles
Turns out steam copies your entire game during an update so it can roll back of there's an error
Fucking brilliant.19 -

The Adventures of my Project Manager.

The project manager is the CEO's younger brother.

end of back story.
PM: Hey, we should stop using Nodejs on our API.
ME: Why?
PM: I don't see why it is necessary when we could make our android app talk directly with MongoDB.
.................

Very exciting news, just thought I’d share.
I was a computer engineering student before I left school to have my first child (and then second, third, and fourth).
I stayed at home for five years, out of necessity, not by choice, and struggled to get back into tech.
I eventually stared freelancing Wordpress sites, because in a small town, I didn’t have any other opportunities.
When not doing that, I took online classes and did side projects, mostly in Javascript.
This summer I got an internship at Mozilla through GNOME Outreachy doing python work.
It’s completely unreal to me...but I have been offered a contract-to-hire position with Mozilla.
After years of feeling like I would never succeed, I have my first real programming job.
Ridiculously awesome benefits and pay...
Holy fucking hell.32 -
This is a thing I love about my job. You can solve something really easily for someone through simple instructions or a simple guide and those people praise you into heaven and are so thankful.
How something so simple can make someone's day, that makes my day.4 -
Today I'm trying to study how to encode data in idx-ubyte format for my machine learning project.
Professors I'm going to astonish you!
Good day and good coding to all of you! :)6 -

So I wanted to send an email to Microsoft to request a feature in their new "To-Do" app.
I went to the play store and scrolled down to the end where it says "Send an email to developer".
Clicked on that. And here is the email address:
"noreply@microsoft.com"

I recently met a young fella (14yo) playing League of Legends. He asked:
- What do you do for a living?
- I'm a programmer, do you know anything about programming?
- I don't, actually.
Apparently he was playing from a LAN Gaming center 'cause he didn't have a computer at home (his computer had broken and these Lan centers are pretty affordable).
I figured I could explain to him what was it and what super powers you could get from it. Turns out I recommended a JS course in codecademy and now he goes to the LAN center every day to study programming (he got really into it!).
Now he always pings me with questions about JS and apparently he's learning a ton! He had almost no English skills too (we're Brazilian), and because most of the material in the internet is in English he found himself some free English courses and he's now taking them!
Knowledge is free on the internet and I guess he's just realized that.
Not exactly a rant guys, just figured it was a nice story to tell :)

Boss: hey, Soft Eng, we need a functional modification
Soft Eng: no prob boss, we can develop it in 4 hours, tested and documented in 2 hours and integrated and shipped to the client by tomorrow morning
Boss: what??? One day?? You just need to edit a couple of lines of code! I want it ready in ten minutes top!5 -
My girlfriend comes in and sees me on devrant.
GF: "What is that app? I see you using it all the time. Is it like an endless blog with updates?"
Me: "It's kinda like facebook. But for developers. And you don't have any friends".
GF: "That seems like a sad app"37 -
Applies for Android Internship
Supervisor: Work with this Image Processing Library to "RECOGNIZE" objects from the phones camera.
Me: Wuuuuuh....?
Supervisor: Also it should be in real time and can't use internet.
Me: But that's impossible....
Supervisor: Align your goals with the company's goal. Nothing is impossible......(gets all motivational)
