My train is running Debian...
Normally it just shows the PXE boot screen when it's not working.
Seems like they've improved 😂7 -

A friendly reminder that Deutsche Bahn fucking sucks.
Their trains show up 10 minutes later than they would have to everyday.
Once I saw that there was a train that was 120+ minutes late.
Today I had to wait almost 20 minutes at a SINGLE train station. Thus I couldn't enter the next train.
To my luck the next train arrives in an hour.
EDIT:
As a student it makes my life way harder than it already is.
It is not reliable at all.
They charge you with 60€ if you forget your ticket btw.
I don't forget my ticket though. My ticket is my campus card.
Their tickets are fucking overpriced and they are always damn late. I ain't paying for that shit. I would rather ride with a horse to the university than paying for a ticket.
Second EDIT as an update:
They just announced that my next train is going to come 10 minutes later. What a bloody surprise, eh?28 -
Sitting in a germans-only company on a germans-only talk, listening to german presenters trying to speak english.
"...And sis is a Integräitontest, witsch is verry important [...] sis here is my sird maven plugin..." schnitzel.
Why for god sake do you funky hip devs mean you have to speak english to me?! Especially if you are simply not able to?
Some of my favorites:
My english is not se yellow from se egg but I hope you understand me.
Sänk ju for trävveling wis deutsche bahn.
Someone has similiar sentences?22 -
This was posted by the largest German railway company "Deutsche Bahn". Rough translation: "Today's quiz photo shows modern fiber optic networks as part of our control center components - who knows what their purpose is?"
That explains a lot. Someone should tell them.7 -
Deutsche Bahn once again.
Deutsche Bahn and I will never be friends I guess.
I'm at a train station where my train arrives only once per hour.
As if that's not enough time to wait already, the first train got canceled.
I was like "Ok, that's Deutsche Bahn. That can happen (and will happen always). Guess that I will wait for another hour".
Minutes before the planned arrival of the second train, they announced that the second train isn't coming either.
I have been at a fucking train station for bloody 3 hours approximately.
Let's wait and see, if my train will ever arrive.
Honestly, thinking about buying camping tools to sleep at this train station and go to university and come back to this place just because of this problem.18 -

Fuck Deutsche Bahn in the arse with multiple cacti. A country that is proud of its railway, cannot actually fucking manage to get one fucking train moving on fucking time.
Have I ever arrived anywhere on time? Fuck no! Deutsche bahn can promise to get you there, but never actually manage to get you there! Fuuuuuuuuck!41 -
Advertisement boards at german undergound station.
Thank you windows for the bright blue light down there under ground <34 -
German train notifies me 8 minutes in advance that my train is cancelled.
Yeah, so useful, thanks...
(I know off-topic but I’m pretty pissed rn)8 -
Went out with friends last night to celebrate a birthday, on our way back with the train we are asked for our tickets. We had bought a group ticket (for 30€/5 Persons) and showed it to the ticket checker. It was 6:20 am at that point and we were all tired and just wanted to go home, but apparently the ticket was only valid to 6 am (it does not say that anywhere on the ticket and it is called a "9-o'clock day ticket"). That asshole seriously made a record about all of us and took 60€ from everyone of the 5 of us.
The Deutsche Bahn company is the only rail company in my region, there is nothing that could compete with them, so they just shit on their customers. And now they want to privatize the highways too? Stop making public traffic something to pay for! There is no competition if there is only one traffic company with the only highways or train-web in a specific region.6 -
Got contacted by "cosmicjs" ( https://cosmicjs.com ) to build apps using the platform and blog about said apps.
Googling them, they got articles spread all over medium, by either the co-founder or the developers, praising it to be the better wordpress and how some seemingly paid twitter posts praise it too.
Apparently "Deutsche Bank" and Volkswagen, Apple, Microsoft, IBM, JPMorganChase use it, which I highly doubt, maybe somebody here can figure out if thats actually false claims, since googling any of those together obv. doesn't return anything, nor makes it sense why they would spend such a large amount on... nothing?..
That one might be just me, but then theres those comments from themselves on producthunt, praising it, though it seems they failed to logout or something? the one co-founder seems to be praising how easy it is to install, by talking about it like an external user?.. (screenshot in comments)14 -
HOLY FUCK (!dev) SOMEONE KILL THE MANAGEMENT OF DEUTSCHE BAHN ALREADY
Seriously where can I complain? delays on every single train i was on since weeks. and always because of some stupid shit like "we need to let another train pass by". wtf you didnt know that earlier?15 -
Finally back at home (after having some trouble with Deutsche Bahn).
It is cold and cloudy here.
It feels so weird to use a laptop. I was there (in Turkey) only with my phone, typing this post on my laptop. The screen is so god damn big.
My bed is very soft. My kitten got very strong and fluffy. He looks more muscular now lol. And it seems like he missed us :3.
I missed him and I missed my car that I did not like like a month ago. I really understood how much value it has. Besides of that my mind is clean now. It was like meditation.
Fuck that pussy ass description.
How was your day, fellas?6 -
dear deutsche bahn developers: please review you handling for dynamic contents width. yours sincerely
ps. riding in a full train and not enough space to handle my computer is boring.5 -
Meine erste post in Deutsche als die sprache fur die automatische testen. Ich spreche deutsch nicht gut, daher entschuldigen Sie mich bitte beim allen Deutschen menschen.30

The fact that buying a paper train ticket from automates in Germany requires you to write your name on it afterwards with a pen is putting me through a lot of pain.15

So, we've been on Deutsche Telekom for about 9 months. Shitty connection in the countryside but literally not one outage.
For the last 6 weeks our internet has been dropping out with no obvious cause.
Just this week we start getting calls if we'd like to upgrade to a package with LTE...
I'm finding the coincidence just a little too convenient.1 -

Deutsch Bahn, again: A delay of 8 minutes (the DB officially recognizes this as late) results to an impossible to reach connecting train leading to a total delay of ca. 2 hours, as I cannot use the Inter City train anymore, but have to use a "Regional Express" instead.
Out of 5 times travelling this route, I arrived 2 times 2 hours later.4 -
Talking about Deutsche Bahn ticket buying not working, but the NS sends me emails with non-functional buttons to press in order to get my ticket. What a train wreck1
-
Shout-out to the German Bundesbahn (railway company) for using debian on their infotainment systems inside the trains!
But please, make them reliable... I regularly see systems stuck in boot and kernel panics as soon as they start...
But hey, it's the right direction :)4 -

So i made an appointment with the technicians from the Telekom a month ago to connect my new home to the network of my actual provider.
Yesterday, when the appointment was due, no one showed up. As expected sadly.
So i called my provider today and they told me that Telekom cancelled the appointment fucking yesterday morning.
So I'm without internet for the entire week until the next MAYBE appointment. Fucking great.4 -

I'm a designer and just found out about a hackathon by Deutsche Bank hosted at the end of October in Berlin. Are some devs out there interested in forming a team (and brainstorming about an idea, obviously)? Preferably from around Germany, since one has to pay travel costs on his/her own, but I'm open, really.
More information: https://api-open.db.com
Just hit me up if you're interested!
P.S. I'm not bad at getting some front-end development done...8 -
Hi guys! We are still searching for another dev to join our team for the hackathon hosted by Deutsche Bank in Berlin (late october). We're currently a team of 2: @ginjikoibito as iOS-/Backend-Dev and me as Designer.
So far the idea we want to apply with goes in this direction: Real-time evaluation of social structures through analyzing wealth & transactions provided by anonymized user-data of the API. It will also incorporate recognizable networks between users.
Sounds interesting? Please leave a comment, we're happy to share more with you :-)2 -

There is no greater embarrassment for me as a german then the Deutsche Bahn. There is no greater accumulation of incompetence than this bundle of dillitants.6 -
Just had a memory popup about my uni days about 5 years ago. I was in my Junior year in business school and was doing a "consulting" project involving the whole Class (200 students). Groups of 4 were assigned an international company in either Europe, Asia, or South America. We'd visit them (as well as do some sightseeing) and learn about them (performance, market positions, products) during Spring Break and come up with a real proposal. We would then compete with other teams, and the winning pitchs for each would be presented in the school auditorium in front the entire class.
Our team didn't get that far but that's not the point. We did win the individual classroom competition. Our company was Deutsche Telekom (owner of T-Mobile).
This was in 2010, when the iPhone/smart-phones started to become mainstream... And our team's idea was location-based advertising.
Looking back, we basically predicted the future... though we got the wrong industry...
It's also sort of funny though because I remember the main reason we came up with the idea was to be different.
All other teams just went with some expansion plan to a neighboring country or cutting costs.... pure MBA/business plan. But I guess I was being a natural techie so thought of a tech idea instead.
We had a meeting with our professor after he picked us and he told us he had a history of spotting future hits. We were like "hm... ok... let's give it a shot... we definitely got an A!" but at that point I was sort of skeptical if this would actually work in real-life (the basic idea was they would sell ads to local businesses and if you were nearby, you would get a text message with an offer).
But guess he was pretty right... we just needed to have Google or Facebook to have been our company... though Groupon or Yelp works too... basically a tech company with larger scale rather than a mobile carrier...1 -
The departure display at the train station seems to like a rant very much. It even wants to +++ it two times...

Offtopic: What tf is this information supposed to inform me about?4 -
Not sure if this is supposed to be a debug duck - things you find in Mannheim when the Deutsche Bahn makes you doubt again about German punctuality3
