Time to make a deal with the devil
@theabbie since you love downloading the entire devRant db and writing little gimmicks, I have an idea for you.
Avatars are envcoded as URLs. Each part of an avatar is separated by an underscore. Shirt, pants, desk, whatever.
Make a bot or script or website or what-fucking-ever to query users with the same avatar as you. This would be:
- Same EXACT avatar (desk, pets, etc)
- Same body parts as you (face, skin color, hair, etc)
- Same body parts and clothing (everything that shows in the mini avatar next to comments, plus pants and shoes, I guess)
The doppelganger finder. Honestly I think it would be neat.
Would be even cooler if you could filter by active users (last post/comment within past 3 months)33 -
This is the Result Declaration form of our university, It's all good but there is one thing (bug) in this form, you only need to fill the Recaptcha once and you can that same Recaptcha to extract as many results as you want. Though not a Security issue, we can extract results of many students as roll numbers are sequential, we just need a bot to fill roll number and click the button. The only use would be to conduct surveys on results, but, a bug is a bug.5

Wrote this little script to generate a Rant of a given user based on his Existing Rants
Code:
https://gist.github.com/theabbie/...
REST Endpoint:
https://devrant-gefgjr8gnr28.runkit.sh/...
Rant won't be very readable though.35 -
Official Release of Meme Bot is here, Though it's a meme bot, it can be used as any image bot, since it googles the text. For better results, give proper description.
The script runs on a cron job, checking for mentions every minute, so, it will reply within 1 minute.
@memesbot <name-of-the-meme>

I think the fact that even Apple can't unlock your phone if you forget your passcode proves that they use very naive encryption method.
Suppose my data is "Hey This is Some Data" and Passcode is 1234, I could just Jumble this data using that passcode and It will be difficult to decrypt without Passcode. And If data is huge, it will be fairly impossible to do so. But that doesn't make it a good encryption method.
Such encryption, though safe is not practical, Imagine if there was no "Forget Password" Option on any account, I usually forgot my password very often when I was a child.
Apple has been doing such things for years, Using Bad things as a selling point. Apple users are dumb anyways because they don't want to control their phone.
Reset Password is a weak point which might be exploited but in such cases, usability is more important than security. Any service which doesn't allow resetting Password is a shitty service and I would never use such a service, They are too naive.696 -

Didn't know Android had such a Feature.
I know it's possible using OCR tools, but still, it's amazing.

I would like to hear why a bug cannot irreversibly tear a company out of existence.
Would you, theabbie (either a troll or the boldest man in the universe), mind explaining how on earth an EULA or ToS saying "We can't be held liable for X, Y and Z" can save your ass from a lawsuit? There are countries that have laws on consequential damages/losses. These laws can lead to you having to repay the entire contract and pay damages.13 -

So, Recently I had made a short film "Brazen Epiphany" and I added it to IMDB, I discovered that IMDB has a flawed verification system, they don't actually verify edits. So, I credited myself for acting in various films. And, they got approved. Then one day, a writer of one of those movies discovered this and ranted on Twitter about it
https://twitter.com/varungrover/...
I told him about this whole stuff, Then I was contacted by a journalist amd they published a story on this

I know it's pretty lame to give wrong information to a community website, but I enjoyed it4 -
Anyone has heard of "Google foobar challenges"?
I found out that it's a secret process of hiring developers and programmers all over the world.
Google triggers it when a user searches for some Programming related stuff.46 -
HELP! Stack overflow did not take this question! I want to learn code! How can I learn code if they won’t help! Question was:
CS 101 take home assignment question 1: write a function to determine if an array of numbers is sorted. The function must return true if it is, false otherwise.
@Fast-Nop , @Root , @theabbie please. I have a week to get this question done 😭22 -
Today, I went on the history of devRant that earlier how people used to post undefined rants. Even some who have knowledge can do it now!
I searched a lot about devRant on different media and got some bits
Here @AlgoRhytm asked a question on stackoverflow
https://stackoverflow.com/questions...
I kept reading there chatlogs
Many people joined and left this community (Sounds too bad). We lost many legends like @Linuxxx, @Skayo and more and more.
But still there are many good one remaining from ages like @Root, @Jilano, @theabbie and more and more
I don't know what I am conveying to you people but I will try my best to stay tuned with devRant because I love it.3
