Teach told us that we're writing an exam of the topic 5.1.4...something, ok, I downloaded the files (packet tracer, PDF). 20 minutes after I realized that I was working on the wrong one, coz it was actually 5.2.something, soooo I fucked up half of the time (a lession is about 40 mins) and when I finally finished I saved the PDF where my answers were given, uploaded it and when I checked it I saw the raw document.
I fucked this up reeaal baad.... I can't even focus on a fucking easy task now, I have to calm down

-When they ask for your current/previous salary in a job interview, tell them that you don't find that relevant or that you don't want to tell. If they insist on you telling your salary, GTFO

- When they are overenthusiasticly telling about all the latest technologies they're using without staying one word about legacy projects, GTFO. It's a trap.

- If you walk trough the developer room(s) and everybody is extremely focused and just programming like a zombie, GTFO.

- If they cannot tell you one single downside of the company, it's probably too good to be true.

Company is replacing "[insert software tool here]" with one that is "better", that "helps us scale", etc. Coincidentally, this always happens when the management muckety muck in charge of that area is replaced by someone from outside the company. While new ideas are good and sometimes needed, I honestly have not ever seen any manager in that position do anything but a "replace what you have with what I used at my last company" exercise. Every day that goes by lowers my expectations of any management figure or exercise. After 3 decades, you'd think those expectations would be low enough to not be surprised anymore. And yet, that's not the case.

What fascinates me the most about the industry we work in, is the disruptive and transformative nature of ideas the come out every day.

The technology we use augmented with the software we build have the capability to disrupt and shift the existing paradigm of absolutely any industry today. The solution we construct changes the way in which an industry functions, and brings the horizon closer while making the ocean wider.

So does our capability to design and transform the existing landscape with the ability to visualise the many dimensions of a problem that are otherwise overlooked by others.

I had one of the best feelings today when 3 extremely prolific doctors in the Indian opthalmological industry told me how the solution i built could change the way in which they have been working for almost 20 years ... For the best ...

It's just such a great feeling to know every line of code we write , execute and debug would one day disrupt and transform an otherwise traditional landscape.

So hooray to us and the things we invent, because at the end of the day a PC to code and internet for the outreach ( and stackoverflow ofcourse. 😅 ) Is all that's needed to bring about a metamorphosis of conventional thoughts and theories.

I was just chatting with my dad. He used to be mostly a C# dev but changed jobs and is now doing mostly Java. He says he likes it better.... Because it doesn't have lambdas/anonymous functions.

Uh.... Java was the first and only language where you can define interface implementations in-line (aka a whole bunch of functions)...

And 1.8 supports lambdas for Interfaces that have a single function...

I bet he'll hate JS... Where functions are can be passed around like objects, ES6 now supports lambdas and await, async... and anonymous functions (apparently they're called arrow functions?)

Me: I have 3 juniors taking 50% of time of a senior (me) contributing less than a medior and rest of my time goes to managing project. I know that in 6 months time invested in them will start paying off, but right now I need more people. Also I don't have me, by that logic, cleaning lady comes to the office every day and we couldn't work witout her, so there's 5 people, at least.
Boss: You'll manage.
Inner me: I would if I was working 8 hours as programmer without tutoring and managing.
Me: Sigh.

Hey guys, sorry for disappearing... I haven't been in my good days lately.
Other than that... two days ago I said fuck you to my burn out, got tired of doing nothing and start job hunting.
Yesterday I've sent 3 e-mails.
Today I got phone calls for 2 Interviews.
That's the good part of being good at a specialized job :D

I'm interested in any specifics, including how you felt about it. Or even just, "Yes, that's happened to me."

The key detail is that in this situation you felt the person who made the decision was or should be accountable, and that you were not accountable or less accountable.

Story time!

I moved from React Dev to fullstack like halve a year ago. Three months ago I became project lead and now I will start to become a team lead.

Holy shit I'm growing fast

TLDR; My laptop's CPU temperature becomes +90 C when I compile stuff.

I have two different laptops that have the exact same configs and OS. I use one as a desktop and the other one is just for school stuff and homework. As you might think, the one that I use as a desktop is looking like a mini desktop. I was into DIY stuff while ago so I made a custom case and separate the LCD as well. Don't ask me why though.

Today I was working on a personal project that has relatively complex build config. Since the compilation always took 3 to 5 mins I went to the kitchen for some coffee. Bumm. My laptops fans are working in a way that one can think they're in the airport. Seriously. All 8 cores are +90 C when I checked them.

The next thing I did was compiling the same project on the other laptop which I used for school projects. It took like 20 mins to compile but the max temperature was like 50 C.

So, in the end, I'm still trying to find the reason for that behaviour.

Ok, it’s been a loooong fucking day.

28 hours later from starting work yesterday, preparing for a giant deployment over multiple systems, Doing deployments overnight... on a Friday night of all days and finally, finally seeing everything working is just a beautiful thing.

Fucker is squatting with me, and while I'm away for work, decides it would be a great idea to change the locks and conveniently forget to mention it.

It's taking a lot of energy not kicking him out.

Failed my driving exam for having turned right instead of left.... FYI this examiner always fails 90% of students for minor mistakes like this... wasted money and time but oh well, new chance next month!
