Are devDucks still being made? I just saw that they're pretty much all sold out.
If not, where else can I get such a thing?1 -
I have no words to describe the look and feel of this website. Did the puppies at this place design their website? O_o
http://www.tripleabcpups.com/random dogs i am now in need of eye surgery pls help wtf is this shit ux fail css ui web design puppies16 -
I really just came across this on a legit apartment rental website.
I can see no possible way for this to go wrong.
No possible way that anyone could exploit this... 🙃20 -
Coding-related ads are always entertaining. They nearly always contain easily spotted nonsense and error-filled code. Not even sure where to start with this one...9

Does the devRant API provide for authenticating and posting new rants?
I've found several unofficial docs that mention grabbing rants and profiles but none that I've found have a method to post rants.10 -
Oh where to start.
TLDR, *actually* prepare students for the *real world*.
- TEACH GIT.
- Stop with the useless projects with esoteric restrictions that absolutely do not exist in the software work field
- ENCOURAGE collaboration rather than make it academic dishonesty with high punishment consequences. Devs need to learn Teamwork!!
- Don't start 101 with Python then go straight to C++ in 102
....
good lord, the easier question is what DOESN'T need to change in CS undergrad programs. -
201, an intro programming course using Python2. Prof was funny. She was a Redditor and slipped the casual troll face or derp face or other rage comic character in her lecture slides.

I wonder if this latest devRant update that includes Rant Types truly is going to be the end of one of our longtime staple identifiers: !rant2

I will never ever see, play, or think about video games the same way again. Even playing all my childhood games is never the same.
I will now forever see the game from the inside out, imagining what code the devs might have written to achieve what is happening: sprites, audio, triggers, AI algos, etc. No longer is a player or character just a player or character; they're sprites, animations, classes and variables and method calls. o.o2 -

TIL I can help support devRant for less than the cost of a coffee per month. (And you can too, if you're not already) I'm digging the edit time extension and the ++ tag in threads.
Cheers, dfox and trogus!2 -
To instantly know *exactly* what caused a compiler or runtime error and *exactly* how to fix it in the best possible way, every single time.2

Everyone, downvote this rant as Repost.
This is a test to see what actually happens to Rants that get some number of minuses due to being a repost.2 -
Writing a x-platform cli tool in Go designed to be an infinite REPL until EOF if no arguments are passed. Code works great on Linux and Mac as-is but not on Windows. On Windows it only works at all if args are passed.
WHY.
And people wonder why I don't like Windows. It's a shame my userbase has so many tech-saavy Windows users. If not for them I'd cut that git branch off the repo in a heartbeat. -
How NOT to cross compile code to Windows:
Chrome Remote Desktop →
Shitty Wi-Fi hotspot →
Mac at home →
VirtualBox Windows VM6 -
Started collaborating on a friend's project.
Just pulled a crazy stupid hack just to get it to work as intended.

Golang, I love you to death.
But I will have you know that unsuccessfully scouring the web for why my json config file wasn't being read into the struct followed by almost two hours of messing around with every little thing... And I discover that the fucking problem was my struct member names needed their first letters to be uppercase. Ridiculous.
Gotta love spending forever overthinking. The solution is often too simple!4 -

Score!
(Sorry, just couldn't resist, after I was lucky enough to see this before another ++ came in)2 -
What are the chances of landing any kind of job in the software field without my CS bachelor's degree completed?
Cuz I'm so tired of the impractical bullshit I've had to do in class for the last 2 or 3 years. I just don't get why the University does not prepare people to work in dev teams yet it seems to be a prerequisite for any consideration to be hired in the field.
Edit: I'm quite familiar with programming and learn quickly. But is that not sufficient?6 -
I'm one of the biggest advocates for Chromebooks and Chrome OS ever.
But even I will call out the bullshit right here:6 -
Is there a way to make the ( + ) Floating Action Button disappear down and reappear up on scroll event, like it does on all the Google apps with Material Design?2

Every time I open devRant, I have >0 Notifs. Why am I never notified by Android about this anymore? I used to get one Android notification for each devRant notif in the list. Now, my phone never goes off for any of them and nothing from devRant appears in my android notifications. I did not change my settings. Running latest app version on Android 6.
