Decided to spend my weekend on a little side project that I thought I could finish quickly.
Not only does my code not work, but what I wrote is so horrible that I'm honestly ashamed. Its like the despicable porn that you sometimes end up watching and the horror of realizing what the hell you just watched after you finish - I thought my code was good, but really, it was trash.
Before I started writing I though to myself, "I'll finish this project and then I'll upload it to my Github to expand my repository", but now I cringe at the thought of someone else reviewing this pile of shit I call my code.
It's 2 am here in Israel. I know I should go to sleep, but I'll just stare at the ceiling, feeling unproductive because everything I did today is literally worthless.
How the fuck do I justify this shit to myself? Calling this a "learning experience" feels like a fucking joke.
Honestly, I don't know why I chose Python to do OOP when Kotlin would have served me much better.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS.
I recently got a secondhand Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. they were used for less than a year, were in perfect shape and they still had warranty.
The app that is supposed to go alongside the headphones told me that I have a firmware update for my headphones. So naturally, I pressed install.
AGAIN, THIS IS A FIRMWARE UPDATE ISSUED BY SONY!!
It bricked the headphones. I can't turn them on.
The issue was probably Bluetooth file sharing. BTFS is SO unreliable and it's known to be unreliable and Sony updates their top tier headphones with this communication method.
Thankfully, I still have warranty. I had to fight with the official importers of Sony in Israel (called "Ishfar", you read it like you see it) to go through the process of repairing / giving me a replacement.

I know that Microsoft gets a bad word for many things (and rightfully so), but one good thing that they do is host a yearly general developer convention in Israel called BlueHat IL.
I've been trying to get invited in for 2 years now (they have to manually accept your application because so many people want to be there and they would run out of physical space if they accepted everyone), and yesterday I FINALLY GOT MY INVITATION!!

Hi, I am the programming director of my FRC team from Israel, MisCar 1574. In this competition, the robots operate autonomously for the first 15 seconds scoring points and than for the rest of the match which is 2:15 minutes the robots are being controlled by drivers. Before the Detroit world championship we uploaded a showcase video of our autonomous, we reached a pretty good level and as the programmers we requested a specific song to be used in the video. This song is called in Hebrew "Yam Hashibolim" and it has a meaning to us, this is what we listened to while working hard every night until about 4:30 am in order to do this. But our media team didn't listen to our request even when all the other team members were with us on this. Where can I find a well paid junior Android Kotlin position?
I've been working in Switzerland for nearly 3 years now. I earned 72,000 (CHF) the first year, 78,000 the second year and now I've reached 86,400 at my current job. I quit this job and with the new job I'll be earning 96,000 after a 3 months trial period in which I'll earn the same as I earn now. I see a lot of Java jobs with Spring Boot and Angular but I'd really like to work with Android and Kotlin, I applied to Element.io and got rejected so I think I might need to apply as a junior Kotlin developer even though I have quite some experience.
I'm not sure where I could look for Kotlin jobs and if it's possible to not deviate too far from my current salary, I'm not sure which country and I'm not sure which platform I could use.
I've tried some stuff on LinkedIn and Indeed and others and I've tried in Switzerland, Israel and the US since I speak English and Hebrew natively and German fluently.
P.s. I know that you're all going to say that the expenses in Switzerland are higher, but I'm very frugal and this doesn't apply to me that much. I still earn a lot more than I would earn in Germany for example and I really don't want to earn 10,000 less...

Yesterday was "but you are Russian" day. It was somehow decided by people in my office, that Russians are the fixers. Basically its the regular flow: Fix the wifi, install me a Windows, Fix VM image, fix my sd card coz its fucked up, I have issues with my hotspot, air conditioner is not cooling enough. But whats weird... Those people are fucking developers themselves!! Wtf?! I got a call from US team (I'm in Israel) and they wanted me to fix their laptop over the phone!!!!!! FUCK!!😕

At my first job, I was in test automation. For a major new complicated feature, I was the test lead and its final stages coincided with a company trip to Israel. I got to sit side by side with its lead developer and he went over all his code and database changes with me. He kept stopping because I guess I had that deer in headlights expression and he thought he was boring me. Actually I was just in awe. He was so proud of his work on it and had every right to be. It was so cool of him to take an hour or two and break it down for me like that.
He told me he wanted to make sure I understood all the pieces involved so I could test more and he could release a rock solid new feature. -
