So ChatGPT with GPT-4 has dropped and it's only available through a paid subscription.

I hope everyone who started to become dependent on the "free" ChatGPT or started building a business on it feels pretty stupid right about now. Unless you pay up, everyone else who does pay will now have an edge over you. Congratulations for giving another monopoly into the hands of microsoft so enthusiastically.

OpenAI is probably one of the most hypocritical companies in history. From the name, to how they copy other startups that build on top their platform, to how they use copyrighted material but prohibit others from using their model for training. I don;t understand how they are so celebrated when they engage in shady practices

Today, a freelance javascript developer at my office told me that he designed a new website for one of his customers. I was intrigued that he is also designing and was very interested.

He showed me some images and I asked how he designed it. I thought he would come up with Figma, Sketch or whatever software, but he showed me the AI prompt.

I told him that he did not design it, but AI did that, prompting AI is not designing. He did not agree and rephrased it as "I made this".

After I said "But if I go to a bakery and ask for a cake with some nice decorations, and the baker is making that, I did not make the cake". He angry said, "You don't understand AI," and put his earplugs in and isn't talking to me since.

Prompting an AI is not creating. The AI/computing power with it's context is creating your stuff..

Musk's OpenAI beat the top professional Dota2 players in the World. That's pretty impressive. AI has a lot of potential for the future. BTW, any Dota2 players here? My son complains that he ends up on Teams that don't speak English. Dota2 can be modded. Imagine a mod that interfaces with Google Translate and does on the fly translation. Beyond my experience level. Way beyond.

I don’t believe in any ai product right now that can’t be self hosted and opensource and many of them are not.

I use mac, like 64GB m1 mac book pro so I can host load of things like llama, wizzard-lm, mistral, any yolo, whisper, gpt, fucking midjourney or other stable diffusion for me is no drama.

I’d say there is no consumer product for ai right now. OpenAI is scam given what we got from mistral.

We are very early in this new but old technology and my worries are that we are not there yet. We will need to wait for another iteration that is approximately 10 years to achieve what we have in mind because current hardware is 10 years behind software.

We don’t have an affordable computing power to go for our dreams.

Just got access to OpenAI beta. This thing is seriously impressive. The attached image shows it summarizing a paragraph from Friedrich Nietzsche. Apart from that, I have tried summarizing a complex Math Algo which I found on Wikipedia, getting specs for building a new PC, and also improving my Startup Idea. The results were astonishing. I can't imagine what possibilities it can have in the future.

At the same time, I can clearly see why they are not allowing open access to their APIs. The potential for abuse is so high here. Especially when most of our population is full of digital idiots.

These days, it seems like every new startup builds their entire development on top of the OpenAI API and be like: "We've just launched a revolutionary AI platform!"

Imagine being so rich that you're too lazy to implement payment methods for countries where you product is popular. Microsoft (one drive) and Android (play) was like that for years. I want to pay for openai but it doesn't support ideal/paypal which is the payment method in the Netherlands. Credit card only. Credit cards is so unsafe, I don't understand it's the standard. I won't get one. Is there an api for generating content besides openai?

Anybody hear about this Q* algorithm that was leaked out of OpenAI?

Trying a custom eMbEdDeR today using open AI and pinecone on some douments of financial data. Let's see if its smart enough to be able to answer even the most basic questions, or if it just fumbles completely.

My bias is to be highly skeptical.

Current alternatives for OpenAI Gym?

Ever wondered how Elon himself talked about not messing with AI in the past. I vaugely remember this was when there was a clash between Mark and Elon. And now Elon's companies OpenAI and Neuralink working on advanced tech. The same tech he told everyone to not mess with.

I haven't followed the trail of events clearly. But now this thought comes to my mind.

Anyone thinks the same? Or am I missing something?

I've ran into a couple coding roadblocks and have been able to get a perfect solution using GPT-3 in seconds. So wild to think of what it could potentially do in the future!

If your application uses OpenAI APIs, should your prompts go into version control? I reckon *some* kind of version for control for OpenAI prompts and configuration should be used as you improve and fine-tune them.

I haven't been able to access ChatGPT since Friday. I thought it might help to delete all cookies so I did, and managed to access their login page. However, when clicking on "Log in", nothing happens, which shouldn't come as a surprise as there is no event listener on the button element, nor on any of its ancestors or descendants (see attached screenshot).

I am so sick and tired of ChatGPT being down all the time! It's like the developers at OpenAI just don't care about the people who rely on this tool to get their work done. I mean, come on, it's not like we're asking for much here. We just need a stable, reliable language model that we can rely on to complete our tasks. But no, instead we have to deal with constant downtime, error messages, and other issues that make it impossible to get anything done.

And don't even get me started on the lack of support and communication from the OpenAI team. It's like they're completely oblivious to the fact that their product is causing major headaches for so many people. I mean, I understand that developing and maintaining a large language model is no small feat, but that's no excuse for the constant problems we're facing.

I'm honestly at my wit's end with this whole thing. It's just so frustrating and frustratingly frustrating to have something that should be so simple and straightforward be such a constant source of stress and frustration. If the OpenAI team can't get their act together and provide a reliable product, then they need to step aside and let someone who can do the job properly take over.

I just hope that they're listening and that they'll take the necessary steps to fix these issues and provide a service that we can all depend on. Because right now, it's just not cutting it.
