So... I had this assignment. I was chill, had plenty of time, so I wasted hours playing videogames and also spent some learning programming. Then, at 3 am, after spending 2 hours leveling my first character in runescape, I gaze through the clock on my pc and notice the date was the 9th, the assignment was due tomorrow! SHIT

I RUSHED TO WORK AND SPENT THE WHOLE NIGHT CODING (it was for a programming class I took at the uni) HOURS OF HOURS OF STUPID MISTAKES MADE OUT OF SLEEPYNESS.

Until I made it.

I send the assignment, everything is cool. I watch the clock a last time before going to bed and fuck! The clock was in mm/dd/yyyy format! Don't know how the fuck it changed itself and how the fuck I didn't notice there was something wrong with the date. I still had 5 days remaining :(

May I request the world to get their shit together and choose just one global date format?

So first of all I'm not a dev.

I'm a software tester and my test manager is a douche, but this is not it.

Today I went to the end user place along with him to teach them how to test properly and how to manage the software test cycle in JIRA.

I did a demo and showed the users the software the dev team developed and of course there were a lot of rants about it.
Users noted down a list of things to be changed and we kept going.

By the end of the demo, my test manager started discussing the fact that I told these guys to open Bugs without test objects on Jira.

I mean, we don't have a test cycle or test cased yet but these guys found issues already, what's the point?

So here's the funny part.

He then starts telling users (which ignore testing fundaments) to create a test cycle called 'meeting of today dd/mm/yyyy" and create tests below it which were named with the names of who created them.
All of that without a logic and ignoring the fact that these tests were not tests.

I was laughing my ass off while assisting this total mess and I almost lost control.

And this is my manager.

Luckily, tomorrow is Saturday.

Your folders, will always be sorted in order making it easier for you to locate them.

Hey guys, this is my first rant. I like this friendly community very much so far and hope it stays that way. So here it goes...

I have this Trello app on my Android phone. It has this nice feature - calendar... But week starts on Sunday. So I started investigating, how I could change it to Monday. Googled and found that you have to change the language, which I did. Now I wish I had this nice ISO date format yyyy-MM-dd, but this motherfrakker doesn't allow me to!

How much I hate this little piece of shit! What does he want from me? Download the sources, add the functionality, compile for a week and flash it into my Xiaomi?!

I have a table where datetime is stored as nvarchar(max).
I'm trying to convert that shit into a proper datetime2 column
But there are dates in ISO format, there are in MM/dd/yyyy, dd/MM/yyyy and there are some with hours/minutes parts.

So i'm making a little script to clean of all that up.
Ofc, not a perfect result, like 01/02/2022 will be considered as dd/MM/yyyy (98% of values are. But still cleaner than before

Why QA should never be left "in charge" of marking priorities on tasks before "demo day" deployment and client handover of a product.

New and refactored, key, features need to be deployed by "demo day", and most developers and the PM (not me) have already been re-allocated to new clients and projects. There's several things being done in paralell to get it done.

QA: We need to be able to download CSV files showing affected users if i do extremely rare action X, and this should pop up in the system for the first 24 hours after doing X.

QA: I want a timestamp in the file naming, I'm experiencing duplicate files.

Dear QA, you can be fucking donkeys at times.

The age-old question between `DD/MM/YYYY` or `MM/DD/YYYY`.

After some shower thoughts, my new preference is `YYYY/MM/DD` for Americans and Lithuanians (only 2 that I know) it just looks like the year has been placed first, otherwise, they read it as normal. To everyone else, the date is reversed and therefore will be read in reverse leading to the same answer.

In addition, `YYYY/MM/DD/some-dated-file` as a file path works exceptionally well for storing files as it uses the least amount of repetition.

Try inserting today's date in access db using sql ( 01/03/2017 in dd/MM/yyyy format). Open db and check what has inserted instead.

Why do the small things have such fucked up corner cases?
This is very likely a giant bug with Qt, but how does this even happen?
I am using Qt with QML and sending data to a database on the backend. I call functions in QML from a Date JS object (property actually, but it calls functions) to set the date as a QDate. This is stored in the database as yyyy/MM/dd. This is fine. When I read the date out I convert it back from string to QDate and send this object to QML. Which then converts this to a Date object in JS in QML.

But at the point where it converts from a QDate to a Date object it loses an entire day. Seriously? You didn't gain a day going from Date -> QDate, but you lose a day going from QDate -> Date?

How long has QML and Qt been around? At least 5 to 10 years. How has this bug lasted this long? I don't want to do a bug report. I will, but I don't want to .

In this code, the last login time and last streak of user is already saved, we just have to fetch the data from the local database, make sure that there are not more than 1 occurrences of same data type in the database, and then use that data. But this, instead of using the database values, uses 00-00-0000 as the lastDate, and uses "0" as the currentStreak (which should only be used for the first not, and in some rare situations only), and is not able to retrieve data from the database properly.

The data saving and updating logic is working fine, but only the retrieval part is causing some issue.
