Well that was a fun call I just had.
Owner of the company I freelance for: Hey I forgot to tell you something.
Me: What?
Owner: I bought you a plane ticket to fly to Puerto Rico. You're heading out in a month.
Me: What?! Why????
Owner: To set up cryptocurency mining rigs.
Me: Just because I know a bit about mining doesn't make me an expert.
Owner: We have $80k in our pocket in investments from outside parties, with another $20-30k on the way. You get 20% of the coins mined for as long as you manage it.
Me: So we're gonna set up several rigs, utilizing a b250 motherboard, g4400 CPU, 8GB of RAM and 10 GPUs each. We'll have AMD rigs for monero and Nvidia rigs for Ethereum and others. We'll use awesome miner for profitability switching on the fly. Each machine is probably going to be $5k each, possibly $4k with bulk discounts. We'll need at least 1500W per rig for power, 2000W to be safe, so we need to make sure we have ample power delivery to the mining warehouse.
Owner: I thought you weren't an expert?
Me: I'm not, but when there's money involved my motivation to Google goes into overdrive.28 -
Hey, i want to make a game and i need some help, so I'm looking for a team.
What i need is:
2 programmers
3 graphics artists
2 level designers
1 music composer
2 dialog writers
1 web designer for page and forums
5 testers
What i will do, you ask? Well, I've got some really good ideas. I think the game should be like Final Fantasy, but bigger and better. I worked with RPG Maker for two months, but I'm best with ideas. I think my ideas would make some incred...
GO SHOVE YOUR IDEAS INTO YOUR ASS! The idea means nothing. I got an idea for the best game ever, right this morning while i was taking a SHIT!
Hobby teams need people who create content. And people who can do stuff will more likely work with someone who does stuff as well and has proven that he is able to get things done.28 -

Customer :Can you build a system that rates our product by XYZ standard?
Us: Sure!
*time passes*
Us: Ta-da!
Customer: Okay, here are some good and some bad products!
*products get rated shit to supershit*
Customer: No, that's wrong. Some of these are as good as we can, they should be rated best!
Us: okay, we offset the results.
*products get rated good to barely okay*
Customer: Great! Can you sign that the system rates by XYZ Standard?
Us: No.
Customer : But we paid you to rate by XYZ standard!
Us: By XYZ standard your products are bad, you can either have your products rated by standard or pass the test.
Customer: Unacceptable!
Us: Improve production?
Customer : Not possible, the job is done when you rate the products good by XYZ standard.9 -
OH MY GOD, MY TEACHER DOES NOT TEACH MY FAVORITE LANGUAGE!
I've seen a lot of rants about teachers who use an outdated language, or don't accept the preferred framework or library of the ranter, or even force students to use a technology or even worse an OS they don't prefer.
Whats with that attitude?
I absolutely encourage young people to learn technology in their free time and it absolutely helps at building a career and become good at programming. I don't think being around 18 and never having worked in a real job is the time to select "the most superior language and technology".
Actually, that time is never.
Technology is evolving all the time and different tech evolves in different paths for different purposes. Get rid of the idea, that there is a "best" and get rid of the idea, that you will always be able to work with what you think is best.
If you're really really really awesome, you can chose to do what you like most. Not awesome as in "i learned programming in my free time, now i'm better than my programming-for-beginners-course teacher" but awesome as in "start my own company and can afford to only take the jobs i feel like doing", that awesome. Most likely, you're not (yet).
In the real world, you will very likely sometimes be required to work with technology you don't prefer. Maybe with something you think is really bad. Probably, it's not that bad. More likely, you read it on the internet from someone whose self-image is based on on loving TechA and hating TechB. A lot of much hated technology is at least okay for it's intended use. Maybe not the most pleasant time you will ever have, but no reason to jump out of the window. Hey, and if you get used to it, you may even start to like it. At least, learn to retain some dignity when confronted with things you don't like.
You can still think that one thing is better than another, but if you make a huge drama out of it, you just make it harder for yourself. The best programmer is the one who get's shit done, not the one with the saltiest tears.14 -

The stupid stories of how I was able to break my schools network just to get better internet, as well as more ridiculous fun. XD
1st year:
It was my freshman year in college. The internet sucked really, really, really badly! Too many people were clearly using it. I had to find another way to remedy this. Upon some further research through Google I found out that one can in fact turn their computer into a router. Now what’s interesting about this network is that it only works with computers by downloading the necessary software that this network provides for you. Some weird software that actually looks through your computer and makes sure it’s ok to be added to the network. Unfortunately, routers can’t download and install that software, thus no internet… but a PC that can be changed into a router itself is a different story. I found that I can download the software check the PC and then turn on my Router feature. Viola, personal fast internet connected directly into the wall. No more sharing a single shitty router!
2nd year:
This was about the year when bitcoin mining was becoming a thing, and everyone was in on it. My shitty computer couldn’t possibly pull off mining for bitcoins. I needed something faster. How I found out that I could use my schools servers was merely an accident.
I had been installing the software on every possible PC I owned, but alas all my PC’s were just not fast enough. I decided to try it on the RDS server. It worked; the command window was pumping out coins! What I came to find out was that the RDS server had 36 cores. This thing was a beast! And it made sense that it could actually pull off mining for bitcoins. A couple nights later I signed in remotely to the RDS server. I created a macro that would continuously move my mouse around in the Remote desktop screen to keep my session alive at all times, and then I’d start my bitcoin mining operation. The following morning I wake up and my session was gone. How sad I thought. I quickly try to remote back in to see what I had collected. “Error, could not connect”. Weird… this usually never happens, maybe I did the remoting wrong. I went to my schools website to do some research on my remoting problem. It was down. In fact, everything was down… I come to find out that I had accidentally shut down the schools network because of my mining operation. I wasn’t found out, but I haven’t done any mining since then.
3rd year:
As an engineering student I found out that all engineering students get access to the school’s VPN. Cool, it is technically used to get around some wonky issues with remoting into the RDS servers. What I come to find out, after messing around with it frequently, is that I can actually use the VPN against the screwed up security on the network. Remember, how I told you that a program has to be downloaded and then one can be accepted into the network? Well, I was able to bypass all of that, simply by using the school’s VPN against itself… How dense does one have to be to not have patched that one?
4th year:
It was another programming day, and I needed access to my phones memory. Using some specially made apps I could easily connect to my phone from my computer and continue my work. But what I found out was that I could in fact travel around in the network. I discovered that I can, in fact, access my phone through the network from anywhere. What resulted was the discovery that the network scales the entirety of the school. I discovered that if I left my phone down in the engineering building and then went north to the biology building, I could still continue to access it. This seems like a very fatal flaw. My idea is to hook up a webcam to a robot and remotely controlling it from the RDS servers and having this little robot go to my classes for me.
What crazy shit have you done at your University?9 -
"Hey, about that matter from yesterday..."
"Yes, what about that?"
"We need to talk about that again! How often do you trigger that system?"
"Once."
"You sure?"
"Yes, but i can check it, if you like."
*find references*
"See, only once."
"Can it happen at a random point later one?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes"
"Can you check it?"
"Okay."
*shows code"
"Look here, as you can see, it will not happen at other times."
"Do you have an idea why it could happen anyway?"
"Maybe that system does the action without my software telling it to do so, wasn't that specified that way?"
"Yes, but it normally does that roughly 10 seconds after you give the command the first time, so we thought maybe you could say what makes it do the action at other points maybe."
"Did you check that systems sourcecode?"
"No not yet. But did that happen with the older version?"
"No. But we didn't try."
"Did you change something between the versions?"
"Yes, the new feature."
"Could that make a change in behaviour?"
"I don't see how."
"Can you remove that feature for test?"
"We can take the old version."
"No, we need the new version, but without the feature you added."
"That IS the old version, there is no other difference!"
"Are you sure?"
"Would you like to see it in source control?"
"No, ~ okay. What do you think causes the problem?"
"I haven't had any new ideas since we talked yesterday."
"Okay. Mhhh,...okay. Lets talk again later."
YES SURE! BRING IT ON! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT! PLEASE COME BY OR CALL ME AGAIN! AND BRING THE BOSS WITH YOU, TO SHOW HOW SERIOUS THE MATTER IS! LET ME TELL HIM THE STUFF I TOLD SEVEN TIMES LAST WEEK!2 -
Step 1: Create and deploy feature. Get feedback: It works fine!
A year passes...
Step 2: Add another small feature that is completely independent from previous feature.
Step 3: Notice that feature #1 is broken.
Why the HELL did it stop working?!? I didn't change anything related to that feature. I can't explain that!
Step 4: Examine bug and find out something unknown about the technology used in feature #1.
Why the HELL did that ever work in the first place?!?
Step 5: Get time to fix it. Don't get time to find out why it worked for a year...
The problem is solved, the mystery remains...5 -
"Errors? Won't happen to me!"
One of my first jobs was to finish and maintain a program, that was made by a guy who had a real genius image among others. Years later, people said "oh him, that smart guy."
I never met him, but that's what i heard.
However, he was not only smart, but it seems he was also very confident. That's what i deduct from his code.
He didn't use catch-blocks. They were all empty. Not even logged.
If errors appeared , it was not possible to see what happened and where and why. The program would continue it's execution and if following steps could not work, because there had been an unnoticed exception, it would just throw another unnoticed exception and at some point, end in an undefined state.5 -
I made a program that dispenses coins in 345 lines. It tells you if the coin tray is in place, and if it didn't dispense enough coins it will tell you how many successfully dispensed. It also has ACK\NAK communication. It's written in C for a specialized microcontroller.
I have written code that talks to 4 devices, but this is the only one I have written the code for. In 2 years it has never had a bug, and always responds quickly and correctly via RS 232. -
Today I've been mocked by a fucking coffee machine.
So I was at a small train station, everything was already closed except for a small coffee machine
Dumb I, for whatever fucking reason, decided it'd be a great idea to get a highly overpriced cup there.
Now, the fucker made me the drink but instead of giving change, it started "shooting" coins in my direction (there was no flap on change box)
As I'm picking up my change, this abomination of a machine performs a cleanup, spitting some shit into my drink
I couldnt drink it obviously .. threw the overprices drink away, bought another one... Got shot with coins again... Whata pain... Just to figure out... There's no more cups 😭😭
It made the drink into the tray...

So this is a rant about my country and especially my city: Berlin (Germany).
Germany is like a third world country when it comes to IT infrastructure. We have one of the slowest internet speeds in the whole EU. People are still afraid to pay with their card or phone. My people love their coins. While most of the other countries see the importance of the new technologies we still use mainly copper wire for internet. So why am I especially mad about Berlin? Google was planning to bring an innovation campus to our city. They wanted to establish a place for startups and technology. But the people from Berlin demonstrated against it extremely. They didn't want to have a company like Google in their city. I also am not a big fan of Google, but this would be such an important step to a better future for Germany. In a few years Germany will have a huge problem because we are so far behind the other countries. And it is so sad to see that seemingly no one cares about this.
This rant was brought to you by the worst internet in the whole EU20 -
Case 1 - You sold the coins. And price continue to increase
Case. - Even when the coin reached it peak, you just hold the coins, because you learned something from Case 1. Eventually coin collapse.
And this continues in loop6 -
"Son ur always sitting at home at computer, ur a computer guy so how come u didnt buy one of those crypto coins and become rich with all that computer knowledge you have. I hear in news all the time how people get rich with crypto. If i had the computer knowledge like you do i would be rich a long time ago. Why dont u buy crypto and be rich from it? U study computers so it should be easy for u to do it"

Dogecoin hit USD $0.40 recently, which means it's time for the Crypto Rant.
TL;DR: Dogecoin is shit and is logically guaranteed to eventually fall unless it is fundamentally changed.
===========================
If you know how Crypto works under the hood, you can skip to the next section. If you don't, here's the general xyz-coin formula:
Money is sent via transactions, which are validated by *anybody*.
Since transactions are validated by anybody, the system needs to make sure you're not fucking it up on purpose.
The current idea (that most coins use today) is called proof-of-work. In short, you're given an extremely difficult task, and the general idea is you wouldn't be willing to do that work if you were just going to fuck up the system.
For validating these transactions, you are rewarded twofold:
1) You are given a fixed-size prize of the currency from the system itself. This is how new currency is introduced, or "minted" if you prefer.
2) You are given variable-size and user-determined prize called "transaction fees", but it could be more accurately called a "bribe" since it's sole purpose is to entice miners to add YOUR transaction to their block.
This system of validation and reward is called mining.
===========================
This smaller section compares the design o f BTC to Dogecoin - which will lead to my final argument
In BTC, the time between blocks (chunks of data which record transactions and are added to the chain, hence blockchain) is ten minutes. Every ten minutes, BTC transactions are validated and new Bitcoins are born.
In Dogecoin, the time between blocks is only one minute. In Theory, this means that mining Dogecoin is about ten times easier, because the system expects you to be able to solve the proof of work in an average of one minute.
The huge difference between BTC and Doge is the block reward (Fixed amount; new coins minted). The block reward for BTC is somewhat complicated compared to Doge: It started as 50 BTC per block and every 4 years it is halved ("the great halving"). Right now it's 6.25 BTC per block. Soon, the block reward will be almost nothing until BTC hits it's max of 21 million bitcoins "minted".
Dogecoin reward is 10,000 coins per block. And it will be that way for the end of time - no maximum, no great halving. And remember, for every 1 BTC block mined, 10 Doge blocks are mined.
===========================
Bitcoin and Dogecoin are now the two most popular coins in pop culture. What makes me angry is the widespread misunderstanding of the differences between the two. It is likely that most investors buy Dogecoin thinking they're getting in "early" because it's so cheap. They think it's cheap because it isn't as popular as Bitcoin yet. They're wrong. It's cheap because of what's outlined in section two of this rant.
Dogecoin is actually not very far off Bitcoin. Do the math: there's a bit over 100 billion Dogecoin in circulation (130b). There's about 20 million BTC. Calculate their total CURRENT values:
130b * $0.40 = 52b
20m * $60k = 1.2t
...and Doge is rising much, much faster than BTC because of the aforementioned lack of understanding.
The most common thing I hear about Doge is that "nobody expects it to reach Bitcoin levels" (referring to being worth 60k a fucking coin). They don't realize that if Doge gets to be worth just $10 a coin, it will not just reach Bitcoin levels but overtake Bitcoin in value ($1.3T).
===========================
It's worth highlighting that Dogecoin is literally designed to fail. Since it lacks a cap on new coins being introduced, it's just simple math that no matter how much Doge rises, it will eventually be worthless. And it won't take centuries, remember that 100k new Doge are mined EVERY TEN MINUTES. 1,440 minutes in a day * 10K per minute is 14.4 million new coins per day. That's damn near every Bitcoin to ever exist mined every day in Dogecoin10 -

Interesting fact: Dogecoin is popular because of a Reddit bot that stole everyone's money.
DogeTipBot, a Reddit bot that was designed as a 3rd party resource for tipping Reddit users for good content was a bot that used Dogecoin as a micro-tipping service, giving many users their first crypto experience and popularizing the coin.
The creator of DogeTipBot went bankrupt, sold all of his coins, AND all of the coins of his users, and shut down the bot.
A currency born as a joke, made intentionally as backwards as possible, and popularized by a scam, is now worth $50 billion USD... now that's a meme.18 -
Web3 truly is a fucked up space. All of the fuckertry happening over here is out of control. Literally a dystopian shithole of scams frauds crimes theft and ponzi schemes.... As much as i try to defend web3 since im a web3 dev it's getting real fuckin hard. The more i work in this space the more i understand economics and how all of this shitshow flows.
Without diving into details, I'll tell you right now from a very deep economic perspective: i realized that all of these cryptos are just.. shams, quasi buzz words to keep the "investors" giving them money. Essentially like wolf of wallstreet scams mixed with bernard madoff multi billion dollar ponzi schemes. The "investors" earn a lot of money.... But on paper! As unrealized gains. And by the time they are able to withdraw their money, that money becomes worthless because of insufficient liquidity in the pool that has been drained from top to bottom of the pyramid. So the only person truly getting filty rich is the one on top of this pyramid - the founders!
After the FTX disaster that happened 2 days ago the prices of ALL coins dropped drastically and it isnt stopping. So much for your glorified "decentralization" 😹😹😹😹😹
How can something be decentralized if its enough for 1 influential man to tweet some shit and the company/token price value drops or increases within minutes? In this case the whole of crypto got sliced by 1 influential man... Again. It's only a matter of time until someone else goes bankrupt and cycle repeats... Again.12 -
"For me, it means..."
For me it was not one specific meeting, but rather a series of meetings with a customer over some years.
It was like the movie "groundhog day", it was the same all over again.
We had this technical term, and our customer had his own definition of what it meant and what it's supposed to be. No need to say that his definition did not match the one the engineers and developers of the world had agreed on.
At least a dozen times, i convinced him, but as soon as the meeting ends, it's all reset and we start at zero next time with his new or old definition of what a definition should mean. Sometimes i was just sick and tired of it so i let him explain how it is while i just stared into the void. Didn't matter he told me once, it will happen again next time again, like it never happened before.1 -

Tired of hearing "our ML model has 51% accuracy! That's a big win!"
No, asshole, what you just built is a fucking random number generator, and a crappy one moreover.
You cannot do worse than 50%. If you had a binary classification model that was 10% accurate, that would be a win. You would just need to invert the output of the model, and you'd instantly get 90% accuracy.
50% accuracy is what you get by flipping coins. And you can achieve that with 1 line of code.5 -

Dear game developers of mobile games,
Please stop making EVERY FUCKING GAME dependent on having coins AND gems that you have to pay REAL MONEY for to oftentimes even keep playing! Or worse still you are kept at a basic level if you refuse to spend!
It’s boring, annoying, and your game is not worth spending like $100 on before getting bored and moving on.
And don’t get me started on ads!!
FUCK RIGHT OFF!!!16 -
just my useless opinion - I don't think bitcoin will every see a big drop
at least, not for ten years
in reality, every bitcoin transaction you make is just a number in the blockchain, just like any other coin. but unlike other coins, bitcoin is #1, has hype in the media, etc.
bitcoin is essentially the name brand of coins. when people think crypocurrency no other name comes to mind.
ethureum, litecoin, dogecoin? nope. nada. null. nil. None. the rate at which bitcoin will increase will become even more astounding. people can now profit of it more and more mining will happen because more people want to buy.
unfortunately I didn't buy it and 5¢, nor $4000, but I don't think we'll see another >$3000 drop for a while.
as the enthusiasm around it decreases, the price will increase at a slower rate, but nevertheless, growing.
my recommendation: buy now. and even if it does go down $2000 after you buy it, it'll probably come back up. so when it's work $110,000 in 2020, I don't think the $2000 will mean as much.
just my two cents.
I'd love to head some other opinions.16 -

About Dogecoin
Dogecoin (DOGE) was created in 2013 as a lighthearted alternative to traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. The Dogecoin name and Shiba Inu logo are based on a meme. Unlike Bitcoin, which is designed to be scarce, Dogecoin is intentionally abundant — 10,000 new coins are mined every minute and there is no maximum supply.
Keep in mind
Unlike Bitcoin, which is designed to be scarce and resistant to inflation, Dogecoin was created to be abundant. There are about 130 billion DOGE circulating, and miners produce another 10,000 every minute.7 -

I was puzzled when I clicked to download something and this little captcha thingy appeared. I clicked, as usual, to solve it, but was amazed to look just a progess bar going and going... then I saw a little legend that says "what's this?", click and this is the link
https://coinhive.com/info/...
Practically, you're mining Monero instead of watching ads and solving regular captchas...
What are your thoughts on this?4 -
Dear EU haters, it seems you have reasons to forgive European Beast some of its sins. EU wants to pay since coins for a bug bounty on FOSS. List includes KeePass, VLC, Putty, 7zip and Tomcat.

Oh that time,
When I nearly hit the 48h.
With two 04-14h shifts without ANY break and constant crying from my colleagues.
And that flat movement of a friend in between. Where nobody did shit and I had to carry the washing machine one story downstairs. Alone. Because the other participants did not want to hurt their hands. Yeah.
In the breaks at home I ate and went on gaming, that pushed up I've been.
Those were the days in west Germany 'industrial centre' dip shit.
The war zones on humanity that piss me off.
And there still are those greedy pigs working off their asses, licking cunts for coins and mistreating their subordinates and families with 15 children (alternatively their BMW 3xx's) and partying 'friends' they only know by consuming the most industrial waste radioactive gym work out fist fucker 8000 *tm
Yeah.
Those were the days11 -
Last week i couldn't use a website to download a product because it failed on every browser and even with addons deactivated. The error said "please input the version" and version is a checkbox.
Wrote to support.
Me: "Download does not work! It gives error xyz. How can i get the product?"
Support : "Oh, you can easily get it from our download page."
Do you even read your mails?!? -
Stackoverflow #1
Me posting question about how to prevent error.
User1: You answered your question. Its because of the error.
Me: I know. And want it gone.
User1: Proposes working yet somehow horrible workaround.
Me: Yes, that works, already did that. But i want to know why it happens.
User: Your question says you want a solution and it is one.
Me: One that doesn't solve the problem.
User2: Just give up. Don't try to find a better one.
Stackoverflow 2:
UserQ: Question how to...?
Me: Use this and that.
UserR: That is not an answer, so i downvoted and requested review.
I don't know a second community that is anti-encouraging like SO. -
Funniest still was when I changed google.com to go to yahoo.com and visa versa. Also made the Xerox panel display "Insert Coins to continue"... Fun times, funny April fool's prank.
-
Already ranted about it. A superior did not provide required information, screamed at me and a colleague.
Of course we got blamed for it. In a meeting with me on one n and all bosses and superiors on the other side of the table, i had to explain my and apologize for my misbehavior.
I had made up a good diplomatic plan, because i know my bosses and how they think of themselves and their roles in the company so it was not that hard to get out of the situation without harm to me and my job.
It felt disgusting. It worked and was a good solution, but it felt so unjust.3 -
Last night I spent 2 hours trying to explain probability to a drunk poker player.
He refused to accept that if Player A and Player B are flipping coins and player A wins 9 coin flips in a row, player B should still treat flip #10 as a 50/50 chance and bet accordingly.
This is basic logic, and when I tried to explain it in terms of computers and code he said "of course a computer would win but I'm saying that 51% against anyone I would win, I've been doing this for 20 years"
My brain hurts.2 -
Better ideas:
I love building stuff and when i have something that I'm really into, it's hard to concentrate on the boring stuff i need to finish first.
Sometimes i just need to do what i feel like doing, doesn't matter. No, i won't go to bed, no i can't do the other stuff, i need to do that!1 -
For me it was something within me. I often felt super demotivated and as a result unproductive when i had to do things i didn't like or that i thought were very bad ideas and plans .
Over time i got used to it and while I'm still better when I'm personally convinced that I'm doing something of value, i can now better handle shitjobs. -
The worst technology i had to deal with was probably a piece of hardware. It was a mini-pc combined with sensors and digital IOs and thus, it should have been able to do process control all by itself.
At that time, there was hardware that did that, but this one had an intel cpu, windows embedded and some powerful libraries pre-installed.
Sounds good, didn't work. The thing was so unstable and buggy and crashed on everything. The sensor part had lots of parameters and the right order was trial and error, documentation didn't match behavior, fixes promised but never delivered.
Lucky for us: it was just a demokit, no real project.
I still remember it with a smile. We got in contact to that company at a trade fair and they had most impressive booth. I also remember their companies image movie from their homepage with developers in dark labs with holographic monitors and the boss in his shiny bright office as he looked out of the window and quoted a famous german author.
Hilarious and sad. :-)2 -
I'm a practical learner. Usually i get myself a simple example from codeproject and play around with it.
I constantly switch between tutorials, documentation and doing it. Doing it makes me find questions and i can remember things better if i care about them, which happens if they are the answer to a question.
Within those experiments i build working example code and document it in a way that fits my needs. When i haven't done the stuff for some time, this self-made examples, help me continue where i was.1 -

In short, power is centralized, protocols can be changed at any given time --> Coins issued can be manipulated, revoked, increased by that centralized power holder3 -
Got in a somewhat heated discussion earlier a'd wanted to get some more input...
Friend of mine has a community site for a game, and is running adds to pay for the hosting costs etc... He however has recently changed adds provider and now they've become more profitable but also a lot more obtrusive...
I suggested perhaps looking into getting something like coinhive, mining monero coins with your users browsers... He was really averse to it, but I think that it can be viable alternative to adds, as long as you allow your users to not participate and don't go all out with their processors but throttle it to say 5% orso...
Anyhow, he wouldn't have it, and I was wondering if I was alone in thinking I'd rather have some coins mined using my processor than seeing adds, especially if it's not at full speed, and with consent (and not on mobile)5 -
Someone was not telling important details which lead to a lot of work leading in the wrong direction.
Asking that someone why he hadn't shared that earlier was seen as complete disrespect against all management. -
Pre 2k i startet making levels in UnrealEd, which changed the way i saw the world. Suddenly i could look at things, buildings, architecture for long times, just thinking how i would build something like that from simple polygons.
As a coder i started to analyze the way processes are controlled in logic.
And now after some years in automation technology and image processing, other things come to my mind like "give me 50k€ in hardware and some weeks and i could replace that persons job with a system". -
Besides alt coins, has anyone of you worked on a blockchain project which has actually delivered any value? I mean, someone besides the investors must have bought the idea for it to count.1
-
So a hackathon is offering its winner a nice amount in neo-coins . Is it worth going? I don't know much about bitcoins and cryptocurrencies except that they are pretty hot stuff in finance market. And this seems to be some new name in virtual money2

Chocolate. Practically it's sugar but i prefer it in the form of chocolate.
I can work without pretty well, but it really helps in high pressure situations.
I sound like a drug addict. 😱2 -
There are tools i use more often, but a place in my heart is reserved for ILSpy.
It shows IL code as c# code and it helped me so much at understanding how components work.
Best moment was when a support guy from a company told me stuff that wasn't correct according to the code...
...no need to tell him. Hope it stays unencrypted :-D -
If you build a company on the blockchain you're basically committing to 100% transparency with your investors if you fail to increase the value of your token or coin your investors will be left holding the bag. 💰5
-
So made this component that my colleagues also use.
Today i checked source control...
What did they do to my creation?
Lines commented out here and there. Features destroyed by rewriting it, instead of just using it. Related unit tests broken of course. It had everything. And why not ask me?
According to Source control they helped each other. Working together as a team, desecrating my code.1 -
!rant with a l'il rant at the end.
Anyone have any Android games they would recommend? I just want something to help me unwind, without being baited every 10 minutes into buying upgrades or coins or whatever.
In app transactions have ruined Android games for me. It drives me insane, but, I still would like something for when I'm not bothered to boot up my ps4 and spend hours living in The Witcher.4 -
Hey fellow nerds, I have a math question :)
I need to split a pile of coins (1s, 2s, 5s, 10s and so on) into a number of piles, let's say four, so that each pile has the same amount of money, but not necessarily the same amount of coins. Does anybody know of such an algorithm?7 -
No one in my family had a computer or worked with computers, so i was totally undigital until i got to work with a computer at school. Win 3.11 made me think "okay, i wanna do that all the time".

I wonder if crypto exchanges are so damn vulnerable or just so transparent.
I mean, it is impossible to scroll tech articles for more than a few seconds before stumbling on a report of yet another crypto exchange being nicked a couple hundred mil USD.
- It could be that their security severely sucks (wouldn't blame them for it, most businesses do suck at securing shit).
- It could be that the entire black hat community is putting it's might on stealing money that is so fucking easy to launder.
- It could be that is damn nigh impossible to cover up a crypto hack since the evidence of coins drifting away is forever on display in the public ledger, and in that case crypto companies are not hacked more often than regular companies, they are just much more often publically shamed for it.
- It could be a mix of all the above, but my intuition is that one factor is more relevant.
Which would be the most relevant factor? One of the above or yet another attack vector to the stupidest value conduit ever?5 -
- I love blowing my mind. Even if it is the most confusing thing. Things like security mechanisms, neurons' behaviors, mathematics (even tho I hate it when I fail lol), electronics, medical terminology and chemistry.
- I love collecting rare coins, personally never-seen stones and put them into my collection. I love to be a designer. Not only on my laptop. I have a book shelf and within that book shelf I put stones that create the yin yang sign while pushing the books to two sides. That makes them look like they are levitating. I have stones (including obsidian) that create a triangle and a knife hanging down the wall of my room.
- I love visiting touristic, historic, naturally-beautiful but also non-touristic (non-touristic? yes. by that I mean visiting e.g. the areas of touristic cities which are dangerous, because you can easily fall down off of a slippery ground and take serious injuries) places around the globe, talk to complete strangers in public (I am trying to be an extrovert), take pictures with my camera and collecting antiquities.
- I love taking risks (no. I don't play any poker games etc on the internet) without trying to put other people in risk. Driving insanely with whatever I have. Car, bike, you name it.
- I love reading books. Books that are about human psychology, fantasy novels and books about programming languages.
- I love to cook (I am at the beginning).
- I love to use the konMari method of tidying up my room.
- I love plants.
- I love having everything in my room tidied up (even if I am too busy with other stuff and skip this cleaning process for a week upto a month sometimes. Sorry, room.).
- I love doing sports. But mostly sport that I have never tried before. This can be, because of my greedy wish for an adrenaline kick. That led me into taking a balloon flight at 4 am (sunrise) and to paragliding at sunset above Mediterranean sea btw. (I am normally afraid of flying, but paragliding was awesome).
- I love swimming. Like, you cannot pull me out of the sea for a minimum of 2 hours, if it is not important.
- I love laying above the sea water and let the sea carry me to somewhere else.
- I love being alone. I love the silence. I love to be free in my thoughts.
- I love watching the sunset, the light that shines through the forest, the moonlight and the stars at night.
- I love dreaming. No, like, lucid dreaming for example.
- I love being open to any opinions.
- I love to learn about other people's views about the world and their religion.
- I love pets and would do anything to keep them alive when they are ill. It hurts my heart seeing them like this.
- I love watching demonic "A: Holy shit! Did you see this thing, too?! B: Yes!" YouTube videos just for the fun of it, but I hate horror movies and games.
- I love trying out new things. The creation of music and video for example.
- I love to give my hair and beard a shape, if I am too lazy to go to the barbershop lol. By that I don't mean just going to the barbershop, but taking an electric razor and cutting my hair myself even if I get bad results from time to time that can be corrected by letting any family member tell me in which area of of my head the hair problem is.
- I don't like disco clubs.
- I don't like toxic people even though I can be a quite toxic person myself without realizing it. If I appear toxic to you, inform me about it. Having so much testosterone in that moment, can make me do things that I don't want to do.
- I don't like drugs even tho I have to admit that I am trying a few from time to time (maybe 6 months in-between) to have a dopamine kick. I am not an addict.
- I hate myself for things that I did in the past.
- I used to watch MMA videos etc.
- I used to use a telescope, but I can't find it anymore.
- I used to have a microscope, but I can't find it anywhere and besides of that the seller did literally piss in it before selling it to me many years ago. Don't want to touch it tbh.
- I used to play games, but I don't enjoy games anymore. That makes me feel sad.
- I miss the old moments of my life.
In conclusion:
I like how things went and go so far. It changed me so much. It made me a good and a bad person. I became more open and confident, but it also particularly made me a leader who can say "fuck off" in a bad way to his family. I would like to undo this particular part of me.5 -
1) Give my logical reasoning abilities to my clients and users.
2) Whenever there is a change in project requirements, I should get 24 karat 100 Gram gold coins.
3) Give me 2 more wishes.
4) My code should work as expected on first attempt.
5) Give me ability to learn new technology in just 1 day.3 -
Not really the place for this, I know. But I am a crypto coin guy. And I work with numerous coins. I was curious if anyone new of an app the could monitor all of your cryto-coin addresses and give you something of a portfolio value. I am capable of doing so manually but the prices flux a decent amount so it changes from day to day.6

In python, is there a way to make this work?
----------
# list of people
people = ["Nick", "Sue", "Bob"]
# class instance
Bob.pockets = ["gum", "paperclip", "coins"]
# convert string to prefix of a class instance
Print(people[2].pockets())
----------
This is the simplest way to show what I'm needing to figure out.
I need to convert a string into the prefix of a class instance.
I'm having trouble figuring it out.7 -
He's just some Forex trader with no clear major
Call him the savior like born in a manger
Hit me on my pager, get back to you later
Handcannon, pockmarks, face full of craters
What's a man to do in a world like this?
Live my whole life to get burnt to a crisp
They open their mouth to regurgitate shit
With some coins in my fist, a .45 on my hip

macOS - just nothing makes sense.
You try to go away from the deprecated stuff, use the new shinier API to stop and start services with launchctl (bootstrap/bootout vs. load/unload). And how does this stellar OS thank you for that? By crashing your service. Thanks for nothing.
From developer perspective this whole OS is just such a nightmarish clusterfuck. If you want to set up code signing with some special entitlements and you try to use the provisioning profiles as advertised, it's like pulling the one-armed bandit. It will plunder your coins and sanity. You try to compile it, it fails or the executable will be killed - you enable and disable the automatic codesigning in Xcode, or delete and download you old code signing cert and suddenly it works. It's just random - and you have to perform random walks on the Xcode project settings to make it run. So Apple turned us into Xcode clicking monkeys... -
Looking inside the box for a second FC 24's Personality Plus feature will certainly create a breath of much needed fresh air to the systematic player statisticsThe changes don't stop there, as we reported earlier, this is a big year of change for the EA Sports FC franchise.
Kaka is a graceful player who doesn't lose his temper and has a lot of respect for his hundreds of thousands of fans - as a result, I think Kaka is an awesome cover athlete for this year's FC 24. Whether or not the game is as graceful as Kaka himself - well, that's something we're just going to have to find out ourselves. You can expect to see Kaka gracing the covers for yourself when FC 24 is released on September 28 in North America - and October 1 in Europe and Asia.
EA Sports has finally made a major change to their EA Sports FC franchise. It's no secret they're the top dogs for the beautiful game, but it's also no secret that their weakness is their lack of customization. FC 24 is looking to change all that.
Over the years, we've seen EA add half-hearted features: a few years ago we had a weak team creation which disappeared a year later, and creating players was a slow and limited process. Since FC 24 they've taken the right direction with their Be A Pro mode, and now the inclusion of an all new Creation Center will finally have players able to do everything they wanted: easily make entire teams, players and statistics - finally allowing them to rival Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer in terms of customization.
You can finally create your own fully functional football club, with the ability to completely customize rosters, crests, crowd chants and --most importantly -- you can make your team an awesome kit with an in-depth editor. According to EA Sports, these teams will be available for both offline and online play, custom tournaments and friendly matches - so if you want, feel free to hop online when the game comes out and play against The Obama 11.2 -
Someone have experiences with mining pools with pps in multiple coins and low fees for running a few scrypt ASICs?
-
Price of gold? Valuable coins? All that stuff? I was too afraid to ask because you were very annoyed then.8
-
Idk if this is the right place to ask but I thought Of this and my parents are sick of trying to satisfy me and they said they don’t even know what I’m asking. I know this is an extremely dumb question. Hypothetically, if a plane full of billionaires carrying only cash crashes mysteriously and cannot be found, now that the money is lost, what happens in the economy. Like how do the banks know how much money is gone and what do they do about it. Like mass inflation? Why can’t they just print an approximate Amount of money to fill up the system again, and if so what happens when they find the plane in a hundred years and the money comes back cuz now we have too much? This all came from wondering how they put the new coins with the kings face in without making the economy blow up, like I would assume they take the same amount of money that are idk too old or something and replace it with the same amount of new money but in that case how do they know and what do they do with the old coins now that they’re out of circulation. If anyone can answer my questions pls help. I might reply to your answer with more questions sorry lmao.10
