This is the best desktop ever!!17 -
I've been slowly increasing the size of my tech manager's mouse cursor over the last month when he leaves his computer unlocked. It's about an inch tall now and he hasn't noticed yet. Everyone else in the office does and it's the best thing ever.11

Also him (talking to the DB team): "You're gonna dissapear, Mongo is the future"
Me: "Eh... Dude, Mongo is still a database.."
Him: "Microservices"

This guy is the best coworker ever. He analyzes my algorithms, advises me when to eat or take breaks, and reminds me not to take life too seriously. He's pretty helpful with debugging too.11

A little while ago someone here posted something about a piece of software called Pi-Hole. To that person, i wanted to say THANK YOU!!! It is probably one of the best things i ever added to my network!26

Best: My first app on the play store got over 2000 downloads in 3 days, best Christmas present ever.

Also, who would have tought rhat hackers are some of the most politest people?7 -
I'm logging my DevRant time as training ... I read all these dumb things that people do, and make mental notes so that I don't do the same thing. Best. Training. Ever.6

I may have received the best email ever all these years (and a year as a Lead).
A client acted as a boss telling me to "work this weekend to finish the project a little earlier"
Enjoying my cereal so far..11 -
Mastering git has become the best thing ever. I feel like a real code monkey. Swinging from branch to branch. Eating all the bug-eeee eeee ahhhhh oooh aaaaaaAAHHHHHH!2

Guys, I don't understand all the WordPress hate here. It's the best backdoor with integrated blogging system I've ever seen.1

Being told I’m not experienced enough to get a senior dev job I interviewed for.
Even though I aced the first 4 interview rounds, the tech test feedback was “the best solution they had ever seen”, and I’ve been a senior dev for 25 years.
Time wasting assholes.3 -
So apparentally devRant has a youtube channel where they re-create Rants as animations.
This is the best thing ever.5 -
Everyone's asleep.
I'm not tired, and coding sounds like the best thing ever right now. Figured out a solution to that blocking architecture issue, too. So: headphones on, blare Amon Amarth and Disturbed, bring up editor. It's time to work on that side project!
Best night in months.7 -

Best App Review ever:
"Awesome app but please remove the ads, then i will give you 5 Stars"
So basicly you are saying the developers should not make any money of the app they spend multiple hours making? Well lets remove the ads then i guess 😤😤12 -
Manager: You use linux? Why?? I’ve only ever used windows and it’s the best of all the computers in my experience. It contains everything anyone needs: email, meetings and the internet.13

At the end of side job customer asked if I could add one feature for double the money.
Did it in 1min and with 3 loc. Best deal ever made ;)7 -
With all the people showing off their setup and input devices i thought it's time to show you my keyboard...
Key features:
- mechanical keys
- sturdy af; best for ranting (survived more angry fist strokes than any device should ever receive)
- older than me and outlived 5 (!) mice
- awesome retro look
- would beat a nokia in hunger games
- best code buddy ever (and propably oldest, too)
Hope i'll be able to continue coding on it another 20 years... Someday i may gift it to my grandchildren.18 -
This app is like the best subreddit I've ever subscribed! Joined yesterday and am already addicted8

HR: Here at company A we have a great culture. It truly is the best place ever to work!
Dev: How many companies have you worked for?
HR: Besides babysitting as a teenager this is the only company I’ve ever worked for.
Dev: I thought so.3 -
My team mate has just found the best conditional statement I've ever seen, in a source code he received from the client.
if (1 == 1)... and it has an else branch :D11 -
The best job denial letter I've ever seen was sent to my husband and said:

Possibly the best comment I have ever encountered:
//When I wrote this, only God and I understood what I was doing

Any other front-end developers check out Visual Studio Code? It’s got a lot of really nice features, including the absolute best implementation of Emmet I’ve ever seen. My new favorite editor on both Windows and Mac!12

It is worth every penny! Simply the hands-down best API exploration tool I have ever used.
No disrespect to Postman or Insomnia but they cannot compare to this glorious tool.14 -
My girlfriend has no idea what I do at work, but apparently she thinks I'm the best "computer guy" ever when I can plug in a Chromecast to her TV2

The best feature in Intellij is the export to Eclipse. I fucking hate Eclipse but we have to submit our assignments as eclipse projects. Eclipse is the worst software i have ever seen. It even crashed in the same Moment as a classmate asked why i hated Eclipse.2

A few months ago, I changed my laptop from Windows to a dualboot of Windows and Linux (NixOS). Since then, Windows has never seen the light of day.
Best decision I've ever made - Windows is useless.17 -
Oh look, Facebook released yet another thing...
*half arsed celebration*
It hasn't been out 10 minutes but it's already the "BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED EVER"
Am i the only one that sees what they are doing. They are creating their own versions of popular projects to gain a monopoly on open source...what a bunch of cunts.
P.S - OPEN SOURCE SHOULDN'T INCLUDE FUCKING PATENTS.
*cue whiney piss babies*5 -

I found that the best place to work on code was at one of my best friends' apartment because:
- cat
- comfortable desk with more screens that I could ever wish for
- coffee AND beer machines at one arm extension from the desk
- cat8 -
CI/CD is probably the best thing that I ever learned about in the software engineering field.
Whenever I merge into master, my code automatically builds and the artifacts are uploaded to a new release on github.
Beautiful.4 -
Not entirely dev related but the year that the mass surveillance companies go away (Google, Facebook (and WhatsApp, Instagram etc), Microsoft and a few others), I'll call that the best fucking year ever.
I hope I'll get to experience that in my lifetime!5 -
I had defined a variable earlier, 'count', that I was trying to access later on in the code. Kept getting errors that the variable didn't exist.
When I looked, I had actually named it 'cunt'.
Best typo ever, gave me a good laugh as opposed to the usual annoying typos in programming.1 -
This is the best (and most complicated) piece of UI I have ever made in my entire life.
Though now, I have the final main UI design.
Any tweaks that you think might work?18 -
Soft rant...
So I'm working at the company for 8 months now. Best 8 months in my career, great team mates, great work, the best - a team leader who is one of the best developers I've ever worked with, but more importantly he is a good friend, brother like. We had great time, from the interview we understood there is a bro-mance there.
So why am I ranting? He got promoted and became a group leader, not even of my group. Now we don't have a TL and we're afraid they won't be able to get a swell guy like our exTL2 -
I'm sick and tired of apps sucking Apple's dick and making their apps the best thing ever for iOS but it being total shit for Android. Go fuck yourself cuntbags.11

Now wish me a good day's sleep you perfect-ragging entertaining bastards filling up devrant with the best posts I've ever read about programming.4 -
I'm honestly so pissed at my product manager right now. He made me stay in the office till 10PM because his stupid manager demanded a hotfix in one of the worst web applications you'll ever see. Fuming. Tried my best to bring some sense into him but to no avail.4
-
My mom’s not too great with tech
she’s the kind of person who thinks I’m hacking when I use a terminal
My brother is teaching her to play among us, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever seen4 -
Coming up on a year as a junior dev, nobody told me about the vicious cycle of the more I learn the more I want to keep learning. I would rather code than do lots of stuff I used to love doing. And the lack of sleep, oh the lack of sleep. Best career ever!1
-
Happy birthday devRant!
I miss those early days which had more rants but still, to the best dev community ever 🍺 🍻🍻🍻 -
Today we migrated from TFVC to Git.
Emotional times. This may become the reason for a future rant or it may be the best decision we've ever made (had made for us).15 -
Year: 2006
Dad bought a 2nd hand computer from his office.
Configurations:
OS: Windows 98
RAM: 256MB
HDD: *Forgot*
15" CRT Monitor
Floppy Disk Drive
And the best moment of joy was when my then best friend who had 2 PCs with one of them was the best configured system of that era with wireless mouse and keyboard (wireless was extremely costly and rare then), comes to my house with a PC Game (WWE some year) and tells me that this game only works in 98.
Also, one of the most Proud moment I ever felt for my computer.1 -
The worst dev I’ve interviewed is the only dev I’ve interviewed.. Which is probably one of the best colleagues I’ve ever worked with, and a really good dev.2
-
Put me under pressure and I’ll produce the best code I’ve ever written.
Put me under a microscope and I won’t produce jack shit 😂😬5 -
When a police officer comes up to you randomly to talk about the best torrent sites in my opinion and if I ever have any Netflix or Hulu accounts available to let him know.... LOL WUT?!4
-
Solarized dark is the best thing that has ever happened the theme-world. I use it starting from terminal to all editors& IDEs.4
-
When I was dealing with depression he allowed me to code whatever and get to school when ever (and still got the required hours)
Best teacher / mustache from my dev education -
Literally just happened now, happy but surprised. It’s the best feeling ever when it just works though.4
-
Happy new year to the best community ever. May you have more ++ this year.
As promised, 2018 is the year i will TRY to post a rant a day. 😁😁😁 Wish me luck.1 -
What is the best financial advice you've ever been given?
I see a lot of well paid developers in my area living month to month with no plan for the future, what would you tell them?9 -
Not as unusual, but definitely the most comfortable:
Next to a fireplace in a cabin in the woods. Without the Internet. Best coding session I've ever had.2 -
Tbh my current job is as close to perfect as I can imagine ever existing. The best and smartest engineers I've ever met (better than Google, better than anywhere), all working on something we think is really really important (autonomous cars), and solving hard problems every day (some of which no one else has ever solved before).
Only downside is an internal sense that when I'm not working I'm delaying a product that will save people's lives.4 -
"Changed HTML" has got to be the best commit message ever... Especially when the commit is mostly .cs files.1
-
!norant
This "Last up vote didn't get through because of network issues" is probably the best thing ever5 -
"How would you reverse a string?"
One of the best Java interview questions I ever had! (no kidding)8 -

He wanted a C# application for employee management with some specific features so I accepted and did the job. -
Aint a rant, but pulsar player has the best fucking implementation of the material design ive ever seen, everything is perfectly flat and still alive aaah4

In school I met LOGO. It was the best language I had ever known.
In college after knowing Basic I met C++. Its was the best language I had ever known.
At work I met Ruby. It was the best language I had ever known.
At each stage I thought it would be hard to beat this one.
I wonder what language I'll meet next.6 -
In case you need to kill some time and would like to see some funny stuff, here you go: https://stackoverflow.com/questions...

Fun meeting ahead, coworker that writes unreadable code (and insists that it is the best code ever) is going to complain that nobody wants to work with him.4

P.S windows 10 sucks... In my pc , I don't know about other high end pc11 -
Best part of being a dev is the fact that we get to use our brains everyday. No day is ever monotonous.
-
I have found the best game for learning ever XD
I have recently heared about io.netgarage.org and tried to solve several it's levels, and I find this game awsome
It is the best to learn reverse engineering)) it is just like an Impossible quiz, where you have to smash the stack to get to the next level))
I have wasted much time for that, but it is worth it))
((Not an advertisment))7 -
Just received my sticker and I am glad of being a part of the DevRant community. Thanks for you for being the best community I've ever seen 😊8
-
I just want to throw out there for Javascript developers, async and await are the two best things to ever happen to promises.3

Fixing a bug which was open for a few weeks - in front of the exam room - while waiting to be let into the room
Best feeling ever, plus the irritated looks of people while they try to study till the last second -
Lately I needed to write some swift code and I‘ve never used it before. But acutually I find such a beautiful langange, maybe the one with the best type system ever.

He's damn fuckin right, I couldn't agree more!.4 -
Once a LinkedIn recruiter contacted me about a job position.
The same crap as always.
And then I replied: "sure I'll look"
And the recruiter sent: "?"
I replied back: "I'll take a look and give you a feedback if the positions fit me or not"
BOOM
Got ghosted

-
Started to Work after school and did not went to any University like all of my friends. Best choice ever 👌. A half year later I moved in with my girl, went on holidays I could not afford before and got the best colleagues at work😁3
-
Best part of the holidays for me has been the steam sales. I grabbed "TIL-100" and "Infinifactory". Both of them are wonderful logic games, and til-100 has you programming in assembly. It's the most challenging yet fun way I've ever programed!2
-
Have you ever use the offline mode in chrome or set the data downloading and uploading speed.
It is the great feature in chrome. In that way you easily develop your offline site. Without disconnecting your LAN or Wifi connection.
Best way to develop offline site for developers.1 -
About to start my first ever freelance job. The problem is I think I've overestimated myself and under quoted for the project.
Hoping for the best and I'm any case, this will be a good experience in terms of learning about the freelance world right?3 -
I am amazed that nobody mentioned Cloud9. I have been using it for 3 years and it is the best Cloud IDE ever.7

You can be the best JavaScript developer ever, but if you write "==" in place of "===" without a valid reason, I won't take you seriously3

*Awkwardly starts playing Blinded by the Light song*8 -
Anyone ever heard this Google Home Easter egg before? It's apparently a Halloween thing, but it happened to my GF yesterday without her ever saying anything.
Voice command: OK Google, I'm home.
Assistant's response: Welcome home. I've been doing my best to hold down the fort. But it just wasn't the same without you2 -
Constraint Layout is the best thing Google has ever made for responsive Android design, when it works.
Half the time it suddenly stops finding any elements I want to attach my selected one to, so it can't constrain what I want it to constrain.
A restart fixes it though...1 -
Anyone ever wondered how hard it is to fill feedbacks and performance growth of your own, which the manager will be evaluating..
The situation is so ironic.. u want to write the best about you, but don't want to look like bragging abt yourself in the same time..4 -
My best was my first - Dr Aston. Taught me Fortran.
The 1st ever essay I wrote on programming was littered with references to "and-sign". Prof calmly pointed out its called an "ampersand".1 -
Lets share the best thing we've ever learnt (strictly related to dev)...
I'll start -> Best thing I've learnet is lambda programming. (Java)7 -
Holy fuck... Ruby has the best fucking syntax ever!
Ruby is so awesome!!!! (But Lua is a bit better)9 -

Online instructors I've learned tons from:
Derek Banas
Bucky Roberts
The Net Ninja (don't know the name)
Maximillian Shwarzmüler
Colt Steele
Brad Traversy7 -
The first time i've scripted something and found a vulnerability on a production web application was one of the best moment i've ever had, never been so excited!

Thought I might see if there's anything intriguing I've not come across yet.4 -
Best conversation I ever had with a manager.
Pulls me off into a meeting and in the same breath tells me he values my opinion, must not argue with him and he does not want "yes" men. Lol -
On my trip to New York I bought a C# 7 in a Nutshell book (nutshell being 1000+ pages).
The best money I've ever spent. That thing is awesome😍1 -
The best IDE in the world is becoming even better.
It's strange no one ever thought about this feature before. Simple yet so useful.

I think I found the single worst (best) extension for vscode to ever exist
It'll play pre-recorded voice lines that insult you/your code when you write something that produces an error...
It is beautiful (horrible)....

Every tech youtuber when reviewing a new phone: "The <PHONE NAME> is the best phone <COMPANY> has ever made."6
-
Everyone is leaving the engineering department because they don’t feel appreciated and feel underpaid. While I’m feeling like it’s the best job I’ve ever had. I’m now the most tenured engineer on my team and I’ve not been here a year. All the stuff they are complaining about is fixable.5
-
One of my first classes about networks my teacher was talking about the differences between a Hub and a Switch, he just stop the class and say a random student's name from the list.
Teacher: "Martin Romero?"
Martin: "here"
Teacher: "this is how a Hub works, everyone listen the message but only Martin answer it."
It was the best example I ever heard from a teacher, one of the best in the whole university imo.1 -
Hilarious comments check it out on the cancer (stackoverflow.com) 😂
https://stackoverflow.com/questions... -
Dev bootcamps? I went to one! Probably the best decision I ever made.
They aren't perfect, they're pricey, and they won't make you an expert, but it's a good way to expedite a new career, gives a good base knowledge to start out. -

One of the best websites I've ever seen (especially on desktop)

Best Experience: When I finally got my own machine so I could do whatever the heck I wanted to it. Learned and applied more than ever.
Worst Experience: Being an idiot and getting kicked off the only dev team I have ever been a part of because I asked too many questions and did no actual effort... -
The best feeling ever is when a super long line of code is written that definitely should not be on one line, that one does not check over the logic for after writing, entered without pressing the backspace key, and it works first try.

Oh boy... "Swordfish" is probably one of the best comedies I've ever seen... How did I not see this movie before 😂2

When interviewing people still ask me if I work with Eclipse. I'm Android dev, why should I ever work with that piece of sh*t of an non-IDE?
Please just don't ask for Eclipse. No sane androider uses it. I don't like to waste my life using the worst software ever made. I would even say that no one should be using it. NetBeans is better, IntelliJ is best.2 -

I once worked as the sole web developer for an in-house agency for a large corporation. The guy I reported to there was by far the best boss I ever had. Most weeks I wouldn't even see him.
He was smart enough to know the web was important to the business, but humble enough to say he didn't understand it. He rarely ever questioned the decisions I made.
The only downside to the job was it was part of a large corporation. -
Ditching Visual Studio and all its annoying lag for Visual Studio Code was one of the best "productivity hacks" I ever did5

Fact about Game Development.

2.You spend months or even years on that game.
3.After some time, You discover that the idea you had got has been used by a famous game.
4.And you die inside repeatedly.4 -

I have a Lenono X200, and it is with no doubt the best laptop I've ever had, at least in terms of quality/price. It runs like a charm, and I paid 85€ for It. I love It! 🙂1

Does anyone feel like their boss is always scheming behind your back. They are changing the requirements and rejecting you without even reviewing your work and are too good to attend any meetings. They’re trying their best but wouldn’t ever give you credit when you are trying your best and getting good results. At what point does the micro management and fear of failure make it so you can’t even take the simplest feature without melting down?1

Just took this pic of my 15" Retina MacBook Pro with my iPhone 7. All you Apple haters can say what you want.. these are the two best products I have ever used!11

(Neo)Vim. Nothing comes close, except Emacs after 2 weeks of configurations, and even then it's not nearly as consistent and fast.
Vim is one of the few programs that don't try to be smart and "help" me, and has the best approach to custom keybindings I've ever seen. -
Just listened to Jabra Elite 75t. The best in-ears I’ve ever heard, and I heard a LOT of them.

BEST RECOVERY EXPERT FOR CRYPTOCURRENCY HIRE CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES
Looking back, it feels almost too good to be true. After so many failed attempts with other companies and solutions, I had nearly given up hope. But CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES turned that around completely. They not only restored my Bitcoin but also restored my faith in customer service and technical expertise in the crypto world. Their approach was thorough, professional, and most importantly, they delivered. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for their help. If you’re in a similar situation, struggling to regain access to your Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency, I urge you to reach out to CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES. Unlike many other companies in this space that promise the world and underdeliver, CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES is one of the few that actually keeps their promises and follows through on their commitments. After countless failures, I finally found a company that delivered. And for that, I’ll be forever grateful. I was amazed at how quickly the process started moving forward. While other companies had made me wait days or even weeks without progress, CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES immediately took action. They began analyzing my wallet’s encryption, cross-referencing security protocols, and using state-of-the-art recovery tools to work through the issues preventing access. I was given a timeline for the recovery process, and to my surprise, they met it. There was a critical moment in the process where I thought we had hit a dead-end, but rather than give up or suggest some drastic, expensive solution, the recovery expert at CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES reassured me, offering additional methods to work around the problem. They never once pushed me into anything that felt like a scam or an unnecessary expense. It was a moment I’ll never forget—the day I received the email from CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES confirming that my Bitcoin had been successfully restored. My heart raced as I logged into my wallet. I had been so used to seeing the dreaded "access denied" message that it felt surreal to finally see my balance staring back at me. All the coins were there, as they should be. My entire investment—my future—was safe again. The team not only restored my Bitcoin but also made sure that my wallet was more secure than ever. They provided me with enhanced security measures and walked me through best practices for managing my digital assets going forward. Thanks to CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES, I no longer had to worry about losing my Bitcoin again.
