Employer: so why do you want to join this organization?
Engineer: well like i said in the first 4 interviews, I love desks. Sitting behind them. Standing behind them.
Employer: are you a standing or sitting man?
Engineer: i like to sit in the morning and then switch up to stand at lunch.
Employer: a man with a plan. Very good. Do you remember anything from school?
Engineer: not a goddamn thing.
Employer: perfect. You don't need math. Just emails. You like emails?
Engineer: love emails.
Employer: there's gonna be a lot of emails.
Engineer: can't get enough emails.
Employer: perfect. Do you like a clear separation between life and work?
Engineer: oh not at all. I like it to muddy together in a never ending hell.
Employer: alright and you're familiar with work culture?
Engineer: oh those hours i work for free?
Employer: yes.
Engineer: I love that bullshit.
Employer: alright terrific. And are you familiar with the hate hierarchy?
Engineer: yeah the tech's hate the engineers, the engineers hate the tech's and the managers hate everyb-
Employer: everybody. Perfect. Alright I- honestly I think we'd like to make an offer.
Engineer: well, first I gotta leverage that with my current employer for a raise. And if they don't budge, I'll jump shut.
Employer: no loyalty at all?
Engineer: not at all.
Employer: you're hired.4 -

The company that I’m working for has done lots of subtle racist things surrounding diversity policy. There was a major blowout between execs and suddenly all went quiet. The guy that was hired against my recommendation was gone. Until early January when he showed up at our building to raid our kitchen. WTF. It turns out HR decided to move him to the other office and out of sight so my team wouldn’t see him. He isn’t working on a project and is getting paid on the bench for more than the 100% billable devs.
After I saw him bumming around, I replied to a recruiter that has been trying to recruit me to their company.
The position pays 25% more 😲 and comes with a an amazingly relaxed development environment. Developer time is managed and allocated by someone in a dedicated role. 80% of the time is sprint work and the rest is self-driven projects or learning. Teams are stable, mostly local, and there is very low turnover. Developers get Mac or Linux computers.
I’m doing an executive meet and greet at the other company tomorrow. They will be the ones that will make me the final offer. I feel pretty good about it too because they will let me sign up to start in a month and a half so I can give a long notice, work until the end, and my current company can hire me back as a consultant in a pinch. It softens the blow for my current company and it makes it easy for me.
Worst case scenario I don’t take the position but use it for leverage. Who am I kidding? I’ll definitely jump ship when negotiation is done tomorrow.

Senior Manager: I have to use your app today, how do I do that?
Dev: Well first you log in, and then you clic—
Senior Manager: That’s way too low level, I only deal with things on high level! Explain it to me from a high level.
Dev: Use the app to orchestrate the visibility of action items to stakeholders and pivot the leverage towards buy-in.
Senior Manager: Hmmmm….
Dev: Agile.
Senior Manager: Aha! I understand how to use the app perfectly now!

Minimum wage employers and restaurants asking "and why should we hire you?".
You have 40 vacancies in your area for just your company alone.
You're paying $13.25 an hour when only a year ago you were paying $9.75.
Why should we hire you?
F*ck you, pay me, that's why.
You're not f*cking NASA
You're a God damn chain restaurant with a 40% turnover rate, who's employees probably shoot up in the bathroom on the rare occasion they even get a break.
I looked at the guy with all the annoyance I could muster, stared him down for a good five seconds and said. "You pay a few dollars over minimum. You're job is not important enough to even ask that question. Have a nice day." And got up and left.
Dude followed me and stuttered " hold up. I was just..."
But I was already out the door.
You were just what mark? Asking a dumbfuck question as if you had any leverage at all?
Your competitor *across the street* is offering 50 cents *more* per hour, and has guaranteed breaks.
What, did you forget 2008 and how you treated millions of people as disposable? The little part where you and most american industries demanded passion, without pay raises? Promotions without benefits? The jobs that if you worked hard, rather than a promotion or a pay raise, your reward was more work and less hours to finish?
You assholes thought we forgot about that? How you shipped millions of jobs overseas, blamed it on "automation" (chinese and indian slave labor), and then pointed the finger at millions of impoverished people as "lazy" in places like Detroit and Pittsburgh and told them "you just got to work harder and smarter!" Or "just get a small loan and create the next google!" from the comfort of your yachts? I'm looking at you bane corp.
No, now the shoes on the other foot motherf*ckers. Hows it feel needing all *us* commoners? "Why should we hire you?"
No, why should *I* WORK FOR YOU?
Cuz I saw THREE dirty tables coming in. A line of people that could be being served. A line that could have been optimized with the proper table count and some simple changes. A menu that doesnt even incentivize your biggest sellers and a dozen other things your store is doing wrong.
Think mark, think!
This is one of those braindead questions employers paying sub $18 an hour ask, because they suffered so much brain drain from years of payola profits from too-big-to-fail wallstreet bailouts, that they forgot they are not king midas, unless they are the king midas of shit, because increasingly everything corporate America touches turns into shit.
And while were on the subject, stopping bringing in outside management to stores. It destroys team cohesion, staff morale, pisses off people *on site* who *actually know* the team, the stores daily activities and processes, and who are better fit for that role. You bring in disinterested outside management, and it's one of the biggest red flags I've ever seen: these smarmy selfcongratulating f*cks who know nothing about the particular store, have no connection to the staff, go on firing sprees or alienation-sprees to hire in friends, fuck up the schedules because again they know nothing about the employees, and then move on after a few years to greener pastures, leaving a barren radioactive wasteland of chain smokers and burnt out staff in their wake.
Dear corporate America, your free ride on the public's good will is over. It's over.
Now you're in the bitch seat. Come sit at my desk and explain to me, EXPLAIN TO ME, why I should sweat and labor to save your shitty company hemorrhaging money like a bleeding crack-addicted hobo dying with a sucking chest wound from a chicago skidrow friday-night drive-by?
You dont deserve it. Your management and company culture is worse than incompetent. It's full of smiley guys expounding about their passion for customer service while giving each other sloppy BJs in broom closets, a veritable cornucopia of cult-like corporate dick suckers *and* dickheads, proclaiming, no...PROFESSING (hence "professional") their undying allegiance and dedication to their corporate family with the intensity of cujo, foaming at the mouth, or Mitt Romney preparing for a photoshoot, plastic smiles and feigned laughs.
Dont forget to wipe your chin, asshole. It's not Ronald McDonald your blowing, but it's definitely not Gordon f*cking Ramsey either.
Would you like fries with that?86 -
Let's settle this:
Blockchain is just a dumb database, the feature that makes it amazing is trust-less ness.
Its not meant to make a decentralised uber or a Tic-tac-toe game.

TLDR: In defense of Powershell - the rant:
I don’t get the Powershell hate.
You don’t hate a screwdriver for not being able to turn a nut, you just *don’t use a screwdriver to turn a nut*
Once you recognize what the tool is good for and you don’t try to use it like Bash, it’s wildly powerful, and satisfying to use in a way Cmd.exe never was.
Cygwin or a Linux Subsystem can only go so far on a Windows computer. You’re dealing with two fundamentally different OS architectures. It makes sense you’d need different tools.
And like it or not, Microsoft owns the non-tech-user desktop , corners the non-tech server business market, and Active Directory is THE tool for managing Windows desktops on a large scale - So Wanblows is not going away anytime soon.
Automation without some weird ass sysVol batch login script is finally possible. Anyone who knows .Net classes can leverage their methods from directly within Powershell. Remote management of headless Windows servers is now a reality. If you have an Office 365 Exchange server you can literally Powershell remote to it for management, just like your favorite cloud hosted Linux distribution.
No one said Windows is a better OS, but an object based shell on an object based OS *makes sense*. It’s useful for its environment. Let it be.10 -
The brief history of Facebook open source:
- FB releases React under an oppressive licence that tells "woopsie, can't sue FB if you use React"
- a lot of money goes into making React popular to gain leverage from mass adoption
- VMware bans React in their company
- FB releases Flux to bring state management. It flops. Replaced by what some Russian student wrote in several evenings (Redux)
- Preact is released. It's faster than React, and it has MIT licence. Vue beats React in GitHub stars.
- Under mass pressure, FB changes React's licence to MIT. Initial plan to gain leverage fails spectacularly.
- FB releases Flow Types. It flops. Replaced by TypeScript.
- FB releases their own app market for React Native. It flops.
- FB releases Relay. It flops. Replaced by Apollo.
- FB tries to push React.Suspense for the whole JS landscape to obey and comply to how it works. Community says "Fuck You".
- FB releases react-native-web. It flops.
- Web Components are out in all browsers, adopted as a standard. React doesn't support them.
- Google releases Lit, a virtual DOM framework on top of Web Components to fuck with React. It's a massive success.
- React 18 is out. Still no Web Components support.

Client:
"Ok,. so your saying that its gonna take you 63 hrs to create a simplified CRM with basic functionality and auto fill docs or automated work flow docs as an added feature?"
My response (after already under-quoting and planning on cutting some corners because he has a smaller budget than normally necessary):
"It sounds simpler than it is. There are a lot of things I need to take into account that you wouldn't even think about.
For instance:
Making sure your emails don't go to the client's spam folder. This requires the sending domain to be verified via DNS settings. I have to ensure your email content passes a spam test (link to text ratio needs to be good). I assumed you'd want an email that has your logo and looks good. This means testing the design in Outlook to make sure it's not broken.
What if the email doesn't send due to an invalid email address, or bounces back? You'll need to be notified.
What if the client list for the week contains duplicates? You need them merged or ignored.
Generating a PDF from HTML can be tricky because the conversion isn't apples to apples so there are things I need to adjust to make them as close as possible.
Making a site completely mobile friendly (the tier 3 option) can be very time consuming as well. It's not about whether or not it fits on a mobile phone, it's about whether or not it's intuitive and useful. You're essentially getting a mobile app without paying for separate development of an app.
If I took everything into consideration and built this to be 100% bullet proof, it would cost tens of thousands.
I'm doing my best to leverage your needs with the probability of running into an issue. I'm not going waste my time/your money on something that will likely never happen."9 -
I've recently received another invitation to Google's Foobar challenges.
A while ago someone here on devRant (which I believe works at Google, and whose support I deeply appreciate) sent me a couple of links to it too. Unfortunately back then I didn't take the time to learn the programming languages (Python or Java) that Google requires for these challenges. This time I'm putting everything on Python, as it's the easiest language to learn when coming from Bash.
But at the end of the day.. I am a sysadmin, not a developer. I don't know a single thing about either of these languages. Yet I can't take these challenges as the sysadmin I am. Instead, I have to learn a new language which chances are I'll never need again outside of some HR dickhead's interview with lateral thinking questions and whiteboard programming, probably prohibited from using Google search like every sane programmer and/or sysadmin would for practical challenges that actually occur in real life.
I don't want to do that. Google is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I get that. Many people would probably even steal that foobar link from me if they could. But I don't think that for me it's the right thing to do. Google has made a serious difference by actually challenging developers with practical scenarios, and that's vastly superior to whatever a HR person at any other company could cobble together for an interview. But there's one thing that they don't seem to realize. A company like Google consists of more than just developers. Not only that, it probably consists - even within their developer circles - of more than just Python and Java developers. If any company would know about languages that are more optimized such as C, it would be Google that has to leverage this performance in order to be able to deliver their services.
I'll be frank here. Foobar has its own issues that I don't like. But if Google were a nice company, I'd go for it all the way nonetheless - after all, they are arguably the single biggest tech company in the world, and the tech industry itself is one of the biggest ones in the world nowadays. It's safe to say that there's likely no opportunity like working at Google. But I don't think it's the right thing. Even if I did know Python or Java... Even if I did. I don't like Google's business decisions.
I've recently flashed my OnePlus 6T with LineageOS. It's now completely Google-free, except for a stock Yalp account (that I'm too afraid to replace with my actual Google account because oh dear, third-party app stores, oh dear that could damage our business and has to be made highly illegal!1!). My contacts on that phone are are all gone. They're all stored on a Google server somewhere (except for some like @linuxxx' that I consciously stored on device storage and thus lost a while back), waiting for me to log back in and sync them back. I've never asked for this. If Google explicitly told me that they'd sync all my contacts to my Google account and offer feasible alternatives, I'd probably given more priority to building a CalDAV and CardDAV server of my own. Because I do have the skills and desire to maintain that myself. I don't want Google to do this for me.
Move fast and break things. I've even got a special Termux script on my home screen, aptly named Unfuck-Google-Play. Every other day I have to use it. Google Search. When I open it on my Nexus 6P, which was Google's foray into hardware and in which they failed quite spectacularly - I've even almost bent and killed it tonight, after cursing at that piece of shit every goddamn day - the Google app opens, I type some text into it.. and then it just jumps back to the beginning of whatever I was typing. A preloader of sorts. The app is a fucking web page parser, or heck probably even just an API parser. How does that in any way justify such shitty preloaders? How does that in any way justify such crappy performance on anything but the most recent flagships? I could go on about this all day... I used to run modern Linux on a 15 year old laptop, smoothly. So don't you Google tell me that a - probably trillion dollar - company can't do that shit right. When there's (commercialized) community projects like DuckDuckGo that do things a million times better than you do - yet they can't compete with you due to your shit being preloaded on every phone and tablet and impossible to remove without rooting - that you Google can't do that and a lot more. You've got fucking Google Assistant for fucks sake! Yet you can't make a decent search app - the goddamn thing that your company started with in the first place!?
I'm sorry. I'd love to work at Google and taste the diversity that this company has to offer. But there's *a lot* wrong with it at the business end too. That is something that - in that state - I don't think I want to contribute to, despite it being pretty much a lottery ticket that I've been fortunate enough to draw twice.
Maybe I should just start my own company.6 -
Customer support people are weird.
They ping "Hi" and just leave it at that!
Wtf do you want me to do with your "Hi".
Is it something urgent I need to look at? Or some generic query?
But I won't fucking know that, unless I reply to your stupid context-less greeting. Because you can't bother to take an extra minute to type. Even worse when it is outside my work hours.
If I do decide to reply I am already online and lost my leverage on deciding whether it's actually urgent or not!
Fuck you Karen from support and fuck you Kumar.
And fuck you junior devs! Don't fucking "Hi. There?" me bitch! Type what you want I'll reply if it's worth it and when I have time to.5 -
Due to working from home I decided a few months back to invest the money I save instead of keeping it all in my bank account.
About 10-20% of it goes to a long term investing account and the rest into the one I manage actively.
The nice thing about homeoffice is that I can have a lunch break an hour later when the market opens and review my shit, then again checking up on it in the late evening before the market closed here.
Have been playing around with trading for years but never did it with patience and discipline.
After 3 months I managed to reach over 16% profit.
My account is small so it’s not a lot of money but I’m focusing on the % rather than the $ at the moment. It’s a start..
Anyway, thought I’ll share my progress with you guys as some of you probably invest as well..
Im exclusively swing trading, so holding my positions between 1-14 days with no leverage.

Hmmm, this feature that I added seems to make the whole process 50% longer. I need to optimize something. Let's see now...
Yeah, make that a shared resource and parallelize IO to leverage the multi-core architecture. Hash map for this, binary tree for that. This thing that gets called a million times can be written easily without a regexp. That thing can be rewritten in Rust as it's too demanding.
There! Works! And it's also a lot cleaner. Nice!
How's the performance doing? 70% longer.

would software product companies plz start describing what the product *actually* does on their homepages? if u say ur product/framework/tool will help me leverage this or collaborate that, it's an almost zero entropy statement, because everyone says so. Are u selling coffee or a .net gui library? because both can help me make my software better and leverage whatever it's supposed to leverage .. so, pleaaase, just say what ur product does, if that doesn't sell it, using hyped catch all phrases won't either ...
oh, and stop calling ur products somethingfy or somethingly .. just stop -
I’ve been promoted.
I now will get zero percent more leverage when leadership wants to hire more incompetent developers. 😬5 -
I just can't stress enough how fascinated I am by biology and biochemistry.
I mean, we, who call ourselves engineers, are no more but a gang of toddlers having a blast with jumbo legos on Aunt Lucy's dining room carpet on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Our solutions using "modern tools" and "modern engineering" are mere attempts to *very* remotely mimic what beautiful and elegant solutions are around us and inside of each of us.
IC/EC engines, solar batteries, computers and quantum computers, spaceships and ISSes, AI/ML, ... What are they? just the means to leverage what's been created all around us to create something that either entertains us, encourages our laziness or helps us to look at the other absolutely fascinating engineering solutions surrounding us so we could try and "replicate" their working principles to further embrace our laziness and entertain us.
Just look at the humble muscle - a myofibril made out of actin and myosin. The design is soooo simple and spot on, so elegant and efficient, the "battery" and signalling system are so universal and efficient.
Look at all those engineering miracles, small and big. Look how they work, how they leverage both big and small to create holistic, simplistic and absolutely efficient mechanisms. And then come back to me, and tell me again that all these brilliant solutions came out of nothing just by an accident we call "evolution".
How blinded by our narcissism are we to claim that there can't be a grand designer of any kind, that there's nothing smarter than us and that the next best thing than us is an incomprehensible series of accidental mutations over an unimaginable amount of time?
I mean.. could it be that someone/something greater than us created us and everything around us? naaaah.. we are the crown jewel of this universe. Everything else must be either magic or an accident. /s
Don't read this as yet another crazy-about-God person's ramblings. I'm not into religion fwiw. But science has taught me enough critical thinking to question its merit. Look at it all as engineers. Which is more probable: that everything around us happened by an accident or that someone/something preceding us had a say in the design?random biology humanity think about it biochemistry creation big and small shower thoughts narcissism had to be said naive evolution20 -

Communication is IMPORTANT, and the way to approach someone is also IMPORTANT.
I experienced that my colleague is from China, and his English accent is so strong (in the context of not understandable, like the word 'folder' he pronounces it 'foda', and the word 'code' he pronounces it 'korr') that I have to ask him to repeat himself (which sometimes I felt guilty to ask him to repeat for thrice, and I am still not able to understand) or maybe we can do it over text. It is much easier to understand him that way and I can leverage these texts to see a bigger picture of the message.
From this, I realised I need to work more on understanding what he is going to say and what he actually meant.
Any advice for me?9 -
Have any of you pitched a directional or starting idea to bosses and have it go well? I feel like I'm at such a low "worked bee" level is have to send a lot of time preparing data to back up the idea. Also not sure if I should go to immediate boss who is cool but a little reserved about ideas like this or boss's boss who has more leverage to put an idea like this in action?3
-
Cool. I've installed a time paradox! All that's left is to figure out how to leverage it to my benefit...

Hello and welcome, to a presentation in which I will tell you my thoughts on the shortcomings of modern day computers and programming practices.
Computers are based on a very fundamental and old idea, folders, and files, a file is basically a concrete amount of data, whereas a folder is a group of files, and it comes from the real life concept of files and folders, now it might be quite obvious already that using a concept invented in 1898 by a guy called Edwin G. Seibels, might not be the best way for computers to function in the year 2020, but alas, it is.
Unless of course, you step into the world of a programmer.
A programmer’s world is much different, they use this idea of a data structure, or in simpler terms, an object. An Object is just like what you would think of as an object in your head, something with different properties that you can think about in different ways, for example your mobile phone, it has a battery percentage, it has a screen size, it has free space available. Programmers use these data structures to analyse data very quickly, like finding all phones with a screen size bigger than a certain size for example.
The problem is that programmers still use files and folders to create the programs that use these objects.
Consider this example.
Let’s say you want to create a virtual version of a drink bottle, consider what properties it will have, colour, volume, height, width, depth, material, etc..
As a programmer, you can leverage programming features and change the properties of a drink bottle directly, if you wanted to change the colour, you just say, drink bottle “dot” colour, equals blue, or red.
But if the drink bottle was represented as a file, all the drink bottles data would be inside the one file, so you would have to open the whole file, find the line or section of the file that has the colour data of the drink bottle, and select it, highlight it, delete what’s there, and type in your new value.
One way to explain this better is to imagine a folder that now represents the drink bottle, imagine adding a new file into that folder that represents each property I described before, colour, volume, etc.., well now, you could just open that folder, find the file for colour, either by looking with your eyes or you could do a file search in the folder for a file called colour, open it, and edit the value inside. This way of editing objects is the one that more closely represents the way programmers and a program itself interacts with objects inside a running programming language.
But the thing is, programmers don’t use the folder/file way of creating objects and putting them into programs, because it would be too cumbersome, they just create 1 file for an object, or have lots of objects in a file, and create all the objects in 1 file, and then run the program which creates the objects, then when they stop the program, it deletes the objects. So there is no actual link between the object in a file and the object that the program creates by reading the data from that file, if you change the object in your program, it does not get saved to the file.
So programmers created databases to house these objects, but there is still a flaw in databases, they are hard to interface with, and mostly databases are just used to send data or retrieve data from, programmatically, you can’t really browse a database the way you can browse the files on your computer. You can, but database interfaces are not made to be easily navigated the way files and folders are.
As it stands, there is no way to store objects instead of files on your computer and interact with them in complex ways the way programmers can inside the programs they create.
If the idea of an object became standard the way a file and folder is standard, I think it would empower human’s a great deal to express things far more easily and fluidly than they can today.
Thanks for reading.8 -
So my co-founder, tried to outdo my equity in the company, by asking me to give up percentage of our equity for his father, so that he could have the leverage.
He is not talking to me since then,
When I said politely to piss off.
Just because you are a techie people try to abuse you
Any advice ?9 -
What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest weakness is that I don't trust people enough to let them know how the can leverage me by telling them my weaknesses.5 -
How many of you have asked for a raise? How many have gotten it? How big was it? Did you leverage another job offer? How long did you work until you got it?10

TLDR; After my dad was lazy, I assembled the parts myself.
As far back as I can remember, if I think of my father he is sitting behind his pc playing games. It was like me, his escape.
When I was between 3-5 years old he upgraded his pc to one that supported windows 95. The most exciting thing I remember about his new pc is that it had a sound card or what passed as one anyway - think polyphonic ring tones in place of onboard beeps. It was fucking awesome.
He gifted his old 386 to my brother and I which we spent a blissful year or so playing DOS games on until it finally died. I wouldn't have access to a home computer again until I was 11 - touching my fathers computer was out of the question, never mind actually using it.
The reason I didn't have access to a pc was simply because he didn't replace his pc - he made minor upgrades to it until he died with a whopping 512mb of RAM. Seriously his pc specs were a bragging factor like geek porn - better than any else's I ever saw including his I.T friends (he was an electrical engineer), everyone knew this apparently aside from his boss...
Auto-cad started becoming a thing and my father for the first time ever had a reason to actually do work on a computer, he immediately used the opportunity to leverage his company into paying for a pc. To get better "value" for the company he ordered the parts in place of a pre-built machine - in reality he blew 90% of the budget on a new motherboard and graphics card to upgrade his own pc and the cheapest entry level components for everything else. The day they arrived he upgraded his own pc, threw the excess parts into a box and told us it was our new computer which he would put together over the weekend. He didn't.
After 3 months of nagging I was fed up and taking liberties with him that landed me more than one hiding, at some point he was over it and told me if I wanted something that badly I should do it myself. He walked into my room after becoming concerned if I had run away/hurt myself since he hadn't heard a whistle from me in 6 hours and I was battling my ass off trying to install windows 98.
He inspected my assembly gave me an approving nod and showed me that the hard drives physical jumper was set to slave and the rest is history. I hadn't used windows before, or built a computer let alone used one in years but somehow I always knew, it just clicked and made sense to me.
I didn't truly recognise just how much I had learn't watching him play DOS games over his shoulder and clean/upgrade his pc. It changed everything and thanks to only being allowed to watch him use a pc, once I finally had access to my own computer again I revered it and all it's possibilities. I knew I should use it to do something special. -
So today my company was removing most workspaces with USB 2 connections, DP cables and magsafe 2 power cables. This means that my MBP mid 2014 can't connect to the keyboard and monitors anymore. It already struggled with 4K, so my 2K options were already limited, but now the last few spots are mostly gone. In short: I'm being forced to upgrade.
But tell you what: I don't want to. It feels like a waste to recycle my laptop (even if it's company paid and owned) while it's perfectly acceptably fine. And mind that I will get the latest and greatest i9 for free. Yes, that overheating, throttling failure of hardware design piece of shit. 2 coworkers already own the beast and confirm that it gets really hot really quickly. One of them even has daily crashes (the laptop just turns off) and random reboots. A total waste of money. And my future time. As if it's not enough work to migrate to a new laptop (even with Time Machine).
So, fellow ranters, what do I do? I hope I can leverage the second best MBP (CPU-wise) from this situation, unless there already is a bunch of i9s in the office ready to be used. I really, really don't want one. And I think my current computer is great for what it is, even if it's old. It's a really pro machine for my needs (I'm very efficient, except for Android Studio).
I even consider asking for a Linux machine, but then a whole new world opens to me that may be a step too big (since I barely have hands-down experience).
Enlighten me with your ideas, muggles!5 -
Final episode of leverage redemption, they used an Android phone. Have you ever seen a TV series where they don't use an IPhone?!

Was an internal auditor translating department process to a technical spec for a programmer. We were going to leverage an external company's API which would replace our need to use their slow and buggy web app.
During a meeting, an audit teammate suggested something be changed with the external service we were using. I said we could bring it up with the company but we shouldn't rely on it because we were a small customer even during out busiest month (200 from us vs 10000+ from big banks).
Teammate said we should have our programming team fix it. I made it clear that it was not our side and that to build out the service on our side was beyond our scope. Teammate continued to bring it up during the meeting then went back to desk after meeting and emailed us all marked up screenshots of the feature.
I ignored this and finished writing up the specs, sending them over to the programmer building out the service.
30 minutes later I get a call from programmer's manager who was quite angry at an expanded scope that was impossible (engineers were king at this company. Best not to anger them). Turns out my teammate had emailed his own spec to the programmers full of impossible features that did not reference the API docs.
I feel bad about it now but I yelled at my teammate quite loudly. I said he was spending time on something that was not reasonable or possible and when they continued to talk about their feature I yelled even louder.
Didn't get fired but it definitely tagged me as an asshole until I left. Fair enough :) -
People:I don't have to work that hard, I work smart.
Me too asshole. I work smart and hard. Guess what dick face, you can't out work me and that's how I leverage my passion.

Looking at vacancies and the JS build tools asked (Babel, Gulp) and then visiting their websites I notice that I don't understand what they are going on about.
"Leverage gulp and the flexibility of JavaScript to automate slow, repetitive workflows and compose them into efficient build pipelines."
What the actual corpo fuck?
The "get started" page expects you already know npm, typescript, and when you look at their pages, well... Where does the circlejerk end and the actual Javascript start?
I've been out of the corporate loop for a few years, seems it's all about build tools these days. I need to get out of this industry pronto.3 -
Hey guys, could use some opinions. So I live in a country with a pretty small economy. I've been working at a big company out here for about a year now. Initially my plan was to work here for a year then apply for grad school in the states, try and use that leverage for one of those big us dollar jobs and potentially one of those magic green cards I've been reading about. I work about the equivalent of 35k/yr in my current position. It may sound pretty ordinary to some of you guys, but here it's a pretty huge salary. It's pretty hard to walk away from it. It's now becoming difficult to make the decision of giving up such a high salary, to make the time and money investment in school. Running the risk of spending a year or 2 in school and then not being able to work in the states. Putting the money aside i know that there'll be greater oppurtunity for learning and growth in the states, so it may be worth it for the experience alone. What do you guys think ? Take the risk? Stay safe in my job? look at other countries maybe ? I'm all ears.6

It is very hard to handle AIs, you need leading scientists/artists, not managers.
You can't charm your way around its behavioral problems, you can't effectively bully or pull rank on it, and can't threaten it into unemployment.
So, the entire repertoire of the typical (asshole) manager is toast.
The *only* way to handle AI is to lead by example, give unambiguous, comprehensive and very specific instructions, and be always available to guide it through complex, gray-area situations.
Thus, it is not much different than being an actual leader (to a greenhorn and anxious and overreaching junior), but also a programmer (of a raw and unforgiving language like C or COBOL).
Since your typical company mid-level asshole manager won't do those things for dear life, AI will only leverage their incompetence to heights never seen.
By ignoring feedback and misinterpreting instructions, AI will make mistakes (just like a person).
On the wake of those mistakes, AIs have a bias for falsifying evidences and hiding relevant information (just like a bad coworker), and yet are quite persuasive to the innatentive reader (just like your typical manager).
Thus, without a daft hand, AIs will only perform worse when doing the tasks that would otherwise be done by a human.
But that will take time (more than a couple quarters, at least - probably a bit longer than the average tenure of a CEO).
And in this time, the numbers look great - the over eager "aimployee" works tirelessly day and night, seven days a week, takes no breaks, holidays or vacations, asks for no benefits besides a paycheck, have fewer and fewer sick days (maintenance downtimes), always sucks up to its corporate masters and is always ready to take on even more responsibility for (relatively) little extra pay.
Thus the problem only scales up, compounded by the corporate ideal of screwing up workers for no monetary profit, and reluctance to course-correct after investing so much time and hype into this AI bubble.
Thereby, AI is evolving into the corporate super bug that shall erode the already crumbling, stuck-in-the-past "boss mentality" institutions into oblivion.
I'm making popcorn. -

I have connections in a country with low wages, so I can get cheap but ok/good quality devs.
What is the best way to leverage this?14 -
Question:
My application (web app & mobile app) needs to interface with a users email to read mails for further processing
Is there are library (py, js) or service that I can leverage that abstracts the access to the mail servers (IMAP, POP3, Exchange, Google API, Outlook API etc.) and provides a single interface (possibly REST API) to access the mails?
It feels redundant to implement each of the above methods of email access, as I see it being a feature in many applications out there, but I am not able to find a library or service that provides it.
Any advice or suggestions with implementing each of them is also welcomed
Thanks in advance1 -
Serbia is a dogshit country. It's a country where hard workers are not appreciated at all. If you're a business owner and want slaves, Serbia is a perfect choice for you. These motherfucker slaves accept to work for $3.125/hour salary as Software Engineers lol what kind of cuckold losers. And if you want to hire engineers as intelligent and skilled as Google engineers are, they get paid $9.375/hour up to $12.5/hour. If you want to earn more than $12.5/hour you'll need to have a Master's degree. Some companies even require a PhD degree. Lol fucking losers. I'll milk cash and leverage these slaves like cuckolds they are. Serves them right for accepting to work for such wages. A fucking McDonald's employee earns $17/hour. Engineers in Serbia are paid less than average McDonald's employee. Losers12

I had an interesting experience looking for a job.. took me two months and the last days were the busiest.
After almost a month and 3 meetings with one company I was made an offer but that same day I got called from another company for a first interview.
I was already happy with the proposal I had so I directly told the other company that I am about to accept in company X and I have a week to decide.. so they arranged an interview with me in 2 days. On the day of the interview I did all 3 standard interviews with them one after the other and at the last one we were already talking salary.
As I already had something to compare to, I could negotiate.. and I did. I ended up working for the second company even though they offered me a less money.. they just seemed a lot nicer to work for.
My question is: did it help me that I told them about my offer from company X (it's a big company too)?
And can I advise others to follow that example? As in.. get one offer and then get more using the first as leverage to get a better deal?
Or was I just lucky? -
Fucking sick of colleagues who just want help with fixing their own broken code, even when given different but alternative to achieve the same thing. It's even worse when they try leverage part of this alternative into their code.
When you are given a Mercedes, you drive it. You don't use it to find parts for your old broken down Nissan.3 -

I sometimes thank the education system for teaching me really outdated stuff. Here's why...
With new programing languages with all the jazz and cool tricks, it's not impossible to develop concepts and get in the flow of visualizing problem solution. Like for eg, plython3 had inbuilt method to swap variables but I know how to swap variables without a third variable because I had to do it without python. Now that I have the ability to build algorithms, I can leverage functionalities provided by languages in better way.4 -
I just... I have no idea. I am supposed to be responding to a soft offer this morning but I am not sure what kind of "ball" to play.
Awhile ago my boss took a higher position at a somewhat higher esteemed and larger but hierarchically lower level sister company. My current company basically told me my current position will be dissolved because sister company is going to form a team under former boss to do those duties. I can stay on but would have to take on totally different duties. I love what I do and I think I have a valuable skillset so that doesn't sound appealing to me. I applied for sister company's job and have the soft offer - always being considered a shoe in because - well it's my job.
It's time to negotiate and their offer is OK. I get to keep my accrued leave and my years of service (heck yes!) but the salary bump is a little less than I had hoped for.
Budgets are super duper tight right now and I don't want to push it with new company. Even though I have two options - keep current job or accept new job I feel like I only have one option - go and I don't have any leverage for negotiating. We will not be getting raises for at least two years at either company. I also feel like this will be my only opportunity to negotiate anything for a long time.
If they can't budge on salary should I ask for a sign on bonus? Flex schedule? Or should I just accept the offer (1500 increase from current salary) as is and be done with it?
There is actually more complicated history and stuff but I tried to boil the situation down to what is going on now.
Any advice?5 -
I need help speeding up my website. It's hosted on GoDaddy shared and uses Managed WordPress. I've run tests on Pingdom, PageInsights, GTMetrix and load times vary from 1.3s to 5s depending on the server location. Apparently Managed WP GoDaddy uses a CDN and their own caching plugin (Varnish). I don't know if that's good or bad.
PageInsights says I need to optimize images. I'm using WP Smush but clearly it isn't helping too much. I always manually resize all my images to <=100kb.
Also, the age old leverage browser caching problem... How do I fix that?
Thanks a lot for taking the time to go through this :)4 -
Leverage. This is a noun, there is already a verb: lever. If 'levering' something doesn't sound good, well, that's because it's not an appropriate verb for what you are describing. We're better than the Marketing dept, stop wastaging everyone's time.3

So me and a couple of my teammates were developing a website for artists where all the things related to artists such as artworks, events, geolocation info etc. happen to live.
2 months down the line, the client comes up with another team who is supposed to develop iOS and Android apps to give the users the ability to leverage this data.
Now this team is so annoying that they want the API according to the specifications they provide. That's really weird. API should be generic, right?
But no, this doesn't end here, the PM of mobile app team comes up with a specification document for the API and what does it contain, a few endpoints which go as below:-
/home - To bring all the home screen data
/events - To bring all the event screen data. But here is a twist, on Event screen, they have defined different sections for Upcoming Events, Workshops, Talks etc. And for each event type they don't want a filtered API but just this single endpoint which will contain all event types data in their own JSON keys.

I realized that my mood swings based on how my gf behaves. She is one of the few triggers
If she is sad depressed angry or disrespectful towards me i am no longer in a positive mood, it kills the whole vibe. On the contrary if she is happy acts feminine behaves normally and is respectful towards me i also become happy and in a better mood
Bad mood does not stop me from doing my work, but depending on how terribly bad it becomes, it may or may not impact my coding and work life. Since the main and central tool for coding is my brain and mental state, not physical muscles, Once the central part of anyone's tool (thats used to get the job done) is attacked or threatened, it weakens the person's ability to perform as good as they have been, or worse, completely blocks them off from performing well
This is one of my biggest fears; Anyone who's capable, intentionally or not, of weakening the central part of my tool for work (in this case mind and mental state), begins to gain power and leverage over me (hold on this is actually a brilliant idea to have in mind, a malicious way to exploit and leverage the target victim is by attacking the central tool they use to get the work done)
However i am a mentally strong person (due to way too much trauma from school, solving extreme difficulty coding problems, hoes and financial struggles), but it does not help if i am attached to a person who i have feelings towards, a person who became the second half of me, "the better half". It is difficult to reject or all of a sudden stop loving the person who you loved for years or months. Such person can more easily attack my central tool
My question is--does anyone know how to protect the central tool from anyone being able to exploit or weaken it? For example if my gfs bad behavior puts me in a bad mood, how to prevent that from happening? How do i not care? Or how do i care but still not let it affect my mood in a negative light? If that makes sense10 -

Food stamps concept is genius. A centralized feeding point for vulnerable people that, while providing good economy of scale, is literally where a lot of vulnerable people are, waiting to be preyed on. You can't just give them money either, you can't trust them to be responsible with it. Instead, you give them the special kind of money that can only be spent on food and essential items. That's literally crypto smart contracts, but from decades ago. This has two benefits:
1. They can spend it closer to their home, as they can't afford to drive to some kind of a centralized nexus
2. It supports local businesses
Saving a failed state where _everybody_ is vulnerable, as their institutions and infrastructure cease to exist? Build a feeding point/network to leverage the economy of scale to help them all. Put armed guards nearby. Also, build a lot of showers — we don't need a cholera outbreak. Oh, and a lot of tap water pumps.
Saving just few vulnerable people within a functioning country? Food stamps.8 -
top developers used to know every vi keystroke so they could type faster and deliver more lines of code;
modern "10x developers" need to leverage AI to become more productive4 -
Whilst procrastinating via semi-helpful browsing,(random blockchain news/info) I come across a new crypto that's really pushing for dev (advertising dev grants etc).
I click "why develop on *whatever*".
This is the start of the page it lead to:
"The Internet began with Web1, a read-only content delivery network. Users could only consume what was offered by site owners, which significantly limited their interaction with the web content."
I blink slowly a few times, figuratively scratch my head and leave.
Am I just too harsh on things like this? I mean, I get that internet history and knowing wtf web3 means is important and all...
Is it too high of a bar to expect a link, specifically trying to entice competent devs who are directly looking into a new web3/blockchain tech to dev with/on, lead to a page that starts with somewhat relative, to the originating link's stated topic, information?
Don't get me wrong, I definitely understand the frequent necessity to be pedantic... but starting with multiple paragraphs of internet history when the sole objective of the link is to inform/entice, specifically, competent devs, who are explicitly looking to leverage blockchain tech... just seems ridiculous.
Despite not actually super interested in changing or adding new blockchain tech to dev with in the near future (not dissatisfied with our relatively established groundwork/current approach), I was actually starting to consider branching out a bit to include initial functionality and/or tools/integrations with this protocol i wasnt aware of (not even just for grant $)... but if their idea of onboarding devs to build on their tech starts with an extremely pedantic intro as to Web1-3 basics... they must have a reeeeally low bar/very desperate for devs.
Seeing this makes me pretty certain it'd be easy/minimal effort to get a decent chunk of grant funding... but with a bar THAT low, I'm not wanting to be associated with them.7 -
Everything hurts. Starting from DevRant preventing me from making separate posts except I wait two hours. I'm infuriated at such a stupid rule like wtf is it supposed to achieve ffs? I'll just merge both rants into this
Next are the discriminatory fucks on reddit. I hate this platform for a number of reasons but the one currently on my nerves right now is the warped stigma against contributions from users with site rep below a certain threshold. How do myopic freaks like this make it to a position of authority?? Being knowledgeable in a given field is not exclusive to reddit users who were able to amass a ton of upvotes. It automatically excludes everyone with potential to stir valuable discourse. Just cuz they're not well liked on the platform
Basically, you earn points on cheap subs, come leverage them on the "prestigious" leagues, where those animals could lynch you. This isn't even hypothetical. Several times, all the visitors on a thread would launch a vendetta on a user (usually the OP), mass downvoting all their content on that thread. They're like wild beasts feasting on carcass
The next group absolutely pissing me off are organisations that use 2fa. How did this crazy design get so popular?? It makes absolutely no sense cuz in the event of losing my device or if the dev to whose device it was tied to leaves, you're fucked. You'll lose all your accounts. You're always calling some colleague holding the phone for codes. You need to snap barcodes on one phone and scan on auth app. Everything about it is so frustrating and painful
I was forced by github to use sms for 2fa. I'm already reluctant about working on this project but I drag myself to the system and try to sign in. Turns out the security conscious dickheads let me view my secret gists without being signed in, but they won't send the 2fa code. I faintly recall a mail that it was getting deprecated. So after what felt like eternity in perdition, I manage to setup the app type 2fa but what if I lose the phone or it's formatted?? I'm locked out! So so stupid. One of my banks sends OTPs to my line. The other doesn't. But a useless organization hosting my OSS that nobody wants to use is bent on ruining my life with their insane security measures. So So daft. What's with the excessive paranoia?? Same goes for facebook. Just send an alert to my mail if ip or location is suspicious and I'll click a confirmation mail. What if my screen is bad and I'm trying to login on another device?? How don't they think of all this before tying authentication to a physical device for christ's sakes?????
And then there's the horrible customers I've been getting on my fledgling business, along with a supplier as well. One requests for location, implying seriousness. Then ghosts. Another one wants to buy a commodity for less than half its price. How do you bargain from 330k to 150k? I rallied around for an alternative at 170k just to make sales. At the end of the day, he only wants the one for 330k. I wish I could take my skin off and black out. I'm so tired and cranky. I woke up so early today to be productive but everything I've met ever since has been nothing but pain and sorrow4 -

So this is my first company as a developer — and honestly, I’m starting to wonder if all the stories about toxic tech culture are actually understatements.
The rules here are straight-up painful. First off, if you introduce a bug — even in the development environment — you're immediately pulled into a one-hour lecture. Not a discussion, not helpful debugging — an actual verbal beating like you crashed the production server during Black Friday. It’s development. Mistakes literally come with the job. Apparently not here.
But wait, it gets better.
You're only allowed one commit per day. Just one. Doesn’t matter if you’ve done 10 things. Doesn’t matter if they’re unrelated. It’s all got to go into a single, glorious mega-commit. Because hey, why use Git properly when you can treat it like a dusty USB stick?
Merge requests? Those are another exercise in corporate gymnastics. You have to assign the reviewer’s name in both the "assignee" and "reviewer" fields — because clearly, assigning someone once just doesn’t drive the point home.
Oh, and commit messages must ONLY be the branch name. No description. No hint at what changed. If you want to understand what happened, better roll up your sleeves and start reading raw code. Context is for the weak.
And then there’s the AI hypocrisy.
Since our work is mostly CRUD, I figured it’d be smart to boost productivity with a GitHub Copilot subscription — paid out of my own pocket. I actually got it finalized. Felt like I was finally arming myself with the right tools.
Then the Shopify internal memo about AI leaked and made waves online. And suddenly — surprise! — my company is now super into AI. Out of nowhere, they’re encouraging everyone to “leverage AI tools” and “accelerate with generative intelligence.”
But here's the twist:
We're only allowed to use the free versions. No budget, no support, no actual tooling strategy. Just “use AI” because it’s trendy, but don't you dare expense anything that works well.
So here I am, in my very first job, trying to grow as a dev — while navigating rules that feel like they were designed by someone who read half a blog post about software engineering and called it a day. It’s like Git but with handcuffs. And blindfolds. On a unicycle.
Is this normal? Do all first jobs come with a side of chaos and irony, or did I win some kind of cursed lottery?
Would love to hear if anyone else had a first gig this absurd. Or maybe I just unlocked hard mode early.3 -
In the fast-paced world of retail, understanding customer behavior and optimizing store operations are key to success. Retail footfall analysis provides valuable insights into how shoppers interact with your store, helping you make data-driven decisions to enhance performance and drive growth. Here’s how leveraging footfall analysis can revolutionize your retail marketing analytics consulitng strategy.
What is Retail Footfall Analysis?
Retail footfall analysis refers to the process of measuring and interpreting customer traffic patterns within a retail environment. This analysis involves collecting data on the number of visitors, their movement within the store, and their dwell times. By examining this data, retailers can gain a deeper understanding of shopper behavior, store performance, and the effectiveness of marketing strategies.
Benefits of Retail Footfall Analysis
Optimize Store Layout: By analyzing how customers navigate through your store, you can redesign layouts to improve traffic flow and increase the visibility of high-margin or promotional items. Strategic placement of products can enhance the shopping experience and drive sales.
Enhance Customer Experience: Understanding peak traffic times allows you to manage staffing levels more effectively. Ensuring adequate staff during busy periods can improve customer service and satisfaction, while reducing labor costs during quieter times.
Evaluate Marketing Effectiveness: Footfall analysis helps assess the impact of marketing campaigns and promotions. By comparing traffic data before, during, and after a campaign, you can determine what drives the most foot traffic and adjust future marketing strategies accordingly.
Improve Inventory Management: Analyzing foot traffic data helps with inventory planning by identifying which products attract the most customers. This insight allows you to better manage stock levels and avoid both overstocking and stockouts.
Drive Sales Growth: With detailed insights into customer behavior, you can make informed decisions to boost sales. For example, adjusting store layouts, optimizing product placement, and fine-tuning promotional strategies based on footfall data can lead to increased revenue.
How Retail Footfall Analysis Works
Data Collection: Footfall data is collected using various technologies such as infrared sensors, video cameras, and Wi-Fi tracking. These tools capture information on the number of visitors, their movement patterns, and the time they spend in different areas of the store.
Data Analysis: The collected data is analyzed to uncover patterns and trends. Key metrics include foot traffic volume, peak shopping times, customer dwell times, and the effectiveness of different store areas.
Insights and Recommendations: Based on the analysis, actionable insights are provided. This might include recommendations for store layout changes, staffing adjustments, or marketing strategies to better align with customer behavior.
Implementation: Retailers implement the recommendations to optimize store performance. This may involve reconfiguring store layouts, adjusting staffing schedules, or launching targeted marketing campaigns.
Ongoing Monitoring: Retail footfall analysis is an ongoing process. Continuous monitoring allows retailers to stay responsive to changes in customer behavior and market conditions, ensuring sustained improvements in store performance.
Why Retail Footfall Analysis Matters
Enhanced Customer Understanding: Provides a clear picture of how customers interact with your store, leading to better decision-making.
Increased Efficiency: Helps optimize store operations and resource allocation, improving overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Data-Driven Decisions: Enables retailers to make informed decisions based on concrete data rather than intuition or guesswork.
Conclusion
Retail footfall analysis is a powerful tool for optimizing store performance and driving business growth. By understanding customer behavior and traffic patterns, retailers can make strategic adjustments to store layouts, staffing levels, and marketing efforts, ultimately enhancing the shopping experience and boosting sales.
Leverage the insights from retail footfall analysis to transform your store operations and stay ahead of the competition. With the right approach, you can unlock new opportunities for success and achieve your retail goals.

My wife’s company recently suffered a catastrophic security breach that resulted in the theft of $155,500 worth of Bitcoin. The breach occurred through a sophisticated phishing attack that specifically targeted the company’s digital wallet. As primary stakeholders in this situation, the loss threatened not only our family’s savings but also my wife’s professional credibility. Panic set in as we realized that traditional financial institutions and law enforcement had limited tools to address cryptocurrency theft, leaving us feeling vulnerable and helpless. In the wake of this incident, we felt an overwhelming sense of urgency to act quickly. We began to explore our options, but the landscape of cryptocurrency recovery is fraught with challenges. Many people we spoke to expressed skepticism about the possibility of recovering stolen assets, which only added to our anxiety. However, we were determined not to give up. After exhaustive research, we discovered ASSET RESCUE SPECIALIST, a firm specializing in cryptocurrency forensics and crypto asset recovery. Their website immediately caught our attention, showcasing a range of proven success stories that highlighted their expertise in recovering stolen cryptocurrency. We were particularly impressed by their certifications in cybersecurity and their partnerships with legal authorities, which built our trust during this vulnerable time. The testimonials from previous clients who had successfully recovered their assets provided us with a glimmer of hope. We reached out to ASSET RESCUE SPECIALIST, and their team was responsive and empathetic, understanding the emotional toll this situation had taken on us. They explained their process in detail, outlining how they would leverage advanced blockchain analysis techniques to trace the stolen Bitcoin. Their professionalism and transparency reassured us that we were in capable hands. As we embarked on this recovery journey, we felt a renewed sense of hope. After weeks of diligent work and collaboration with the ASSET RESCUE SPECIALIST team, I am thrilled to share that I recovered my whole Bitcoin. This experience not only restored our financial stability but also reinforced our belief in the power of specialized expertise in navigating the complexities of cryptocurrency recovery. We are incredibly grateful for the support we received and relieved to have our assets back.1

From Helpless to Hopeful: My Crypto Experience"Hack Savvy Tech
I initially started trading with Pips Global because of the variety of trading accounts they offered, including their Funded Next accounts. These accounts seemed like an appealing opportunity, as they gave traders the chance to trade with a larger balance after successfully passing a challenge. For someone like me who was looking to scale up my trading without having to risk a significant amount of my own capital, it seemed like the perfect option. At first, I started with their Micro account, which had high leverage, fast market execution, and tight variable spreads. All these features seemed to align well with my trading goals, and I felt confident moving forward. However, things took a turn for the worse as I continued trading. I ended up losing a significant amount, around 30,000 AUD, due to what I now believe was a scam. The trades I placed weren’t executing properly, and there were discrepancies with the spreads and market conditions. I tried to reach out to Pips Global’s customer support, but I wasn’t receiving the kind of help I expected. It became increasingly clear that the platform wasn’t as reliable as I had originally thought, and I felt completely stuck. In my search for a solution, I came across Hack Savvy Tech, a service that specializes in helping people recover lost funds from fraudulent brokers. Their team was highly professional, thorough, and patient. They guided me step by step through the entire recovery process, keeping me informed at every stage. They also provided me with solid advice on how to avoid falling into similar traps in the future. Thanks to Hack Savvy Tech, I was able to recover my 30,000 AUD, which was an incredible relief after such a stressful experience. If you’re considering trading with Pips Global, I strongly recommend doing thorough research before committing. While their Funded Next accounts and other account options might seem enticing, my personal experience with them was ultimately disappointing. I would advise anyone looking to trade with them to be cautious, especially if things don’t seem to be going as expected. If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, I can’t recommend Hack Savvy Tech enough. Their expertise in fund recovery was a lifesaver, and they were instrumental in helping me get my money back. Thanks to their support, I’m now back on track, and I’ve learned a valuable lesson about being more cautious with online trading platforms

Some companies leverage cloud advantages better than others. Which cloud strategies provide a competitive edge today and why? What factors drive success or failure (people, processes, tech)? How do successful cloud strategies impact businesses?
Having directed several cloud-based projects – including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) implementations for sizable organizations – we’ve seen firsthand the contributors to success and the challenges of cloud strategies.
The primary drivers for considering cloud solutions are the scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness that such solutions offer. In order to realize those benefits, any cloud project must begin with solid planning. Not just enumerating what it takes to be successful but also planning for what it takes to avoid being unsuccessful. We have a somewhat lengthy article providing detail of this “Foundation First” approach, but here are a few things to consider:
Companies that are better at realizing the advantages of cloud computing understand what processes, products, and/or people already make their organization unique, and then create systems that bolster those existing advantages. Additionally, successful cloud implementations take a very modular approach – with each module performing a fairly specific function – while overall data and security policies govern the individual modules.
On the topic of modularization, there's a misconception that microservices lower costs. With many tools, finding the right one becomes challenging. Microservices do allow for smaller, potentially cheaper, cloud processing; however, without strong organization and control, confusion can arise when multiple systems use the services. Without discipline, a great idea can turn into a problem.
In short, the organization that views cloud services as a way to fix problems by throwing them into the cloud hoping for accelerated performance is going to find themselves in a worse storm. Successful cloud implementations start with identifying what they are already doing right/best and how they can further improve those areas with the help of the cloud – proceeding with a modular mindset and firmly established policies for data and security. -
