Just thought of a cool feature for devRant: rant it later!
I get why the 2 hours limit between rants exists, but it would be so cool to write a rant and the app to self post it after the 2 hours limit expires!
And it could also give a notification that the rant was posted.

Feature request:
A lot of people have been commenting on rants just to later get notifications about it, but also from my experience often times I comment on a rant but don't want to be subscribed to it.
Why not make it not subscribe you to the rant by default, and instead change the rant mute button to do the opposite and subscribe you to that rant? It would avoid the pointless comments, and this

Sometimes when I read a rant I upvote one of it's comments. But then I feel like it's unfair for the ranter that a commenter has a ++ and he hasn't, so I upvote the rant too.1

Quick tip: ! means NOT. So !rant is a post which isn't a rant. !question doesn't indicate that the post is a question, but rather the opposite (and therefore there isn't really a need for that tag). You might also see something like !!rant which is the same as writing rant (that tag is also unnecessary, considering the name of the app)7

I was about to write a rant on saturday, but I thought: the company and the morons hired by the ceo and investors make me rant, so the company should pay that, during my working time.
At my current rate, this 10 minutes monday rant plus some rant reading and commenting, it's about 10$.

devRant is nice.
If you move rant feed to "Recent" and saw a bunch of rant u already read but you keep scrolling down hoping to see new rant but u fail cause rant policy keep people from posting new rant for 2 hour and not many new rant has been post.
This is a nice feature. It make u self aware that "crap, maybe too much time on devRant". Even if you addict to devRant but by this policy -> It force you to really close its app and checking it on another free time. (more healthy than another social media I guess 😂)2 -

@dfox maybe add a "type" field at the bottom of the rant creation screen so people can classify rants as rant or !rant and not have to remember to type !rant (maybe auto-prepend "!rant")
Plus it would be nice to have the option to filter out non rants if people want to5 -

Am I dumb/blind or devrant could use the reply on the rant itself? I have a problem when wanting to tag the creator and I have to type the username (if not previously replying on the rant)..which usually means switching between the rant and comment several times before I get it right.. :/8

I wrote to our support I need DP/HDMI cable.. they asked me to take a pic of the cable I'm currently using.. WTF?! Don't you know how connectors look?! Just get me the damn cable.. :/
Ok.. Took a picture.. sent it back.. At that time I still didn't see the problem with what I wrote/demanded..
Got back reply this is not HDMI connector... FML, I was so convinced computer had HDMI ports so even when I took the pic I wasn't paying attention.. Fuck.
And before when I was switching cables behind the computer below desk I was just blindly feeling around, it didn't even occurr to me to actually check what connectors are used..just knew both monitors had the same connector (and not aure why I thought HDMI :/)...so yeah, I'm the idiot who is not paying attention to stuff.. Fuck.. Was on a scavanger hunt for a wrong type of cable the whole time.. Sorry again!! And please don't kill me next time you see me.. o.O1 -
As a tribute to Alice's fun discoveries, here's my discovery.
If you choose the weekly rant banner on the rant feed and open the rant which is showing at the top of your screen, you will see a ghost of the banner while the rant is loading.

Ok, so I have been lurking around here for a while now. Not at all knowing what to rant about. I like my work, I don't have to deal too much with annoying (or almost any at all) customers and all in all I feel fine.
However, I feel like I want to, in some way step into this awesome community in other ways than just comments and ++.
So this post will be about a book. It's almost our Bible. Well it's probably the closest thing to a proper part of the trilogy we will get.
And for not being written by Douglas Adams (the almighty) himself; this book is surprisingly good! If you haven't, and get your hands on it, do read it!

Rant Rooms!
Each room has a topic as it's title, and this room acts like a group chat. Individuals can join public rooms and rant about the specified topic. Or, private rooms can be created and the creator can invite people to this room.
Perhaps timeouts could be set so that after a specified amount of time without activity, the room expires and disappears.

If you are subscribed to someone and get the notification of their new rant and if you visit the rant through the feed, not through the notification than the notification will stay until you click on it and realise that you've already seen this.3

I just wrote a rant but the iOS app doesn’t upload the image. It shows the loading spinner and then just stops without creating the rant. Is it an iOS app thing again?

@dfox why do some of the older rants display the date on the rant but then the comments are older than the rant itself (for example, the rant say 22/09 - or 09/22 to you - and the comments say 16-09. But most of the comments I see say 16-09). What did you guys mess up 😛2

Why do I keep getting an error when posting my rant saying, "There was an error creating the rant."?
Has anyone else gotten this before? Happening both on mobile app, mobile browser, and laptop's browser so it's not the platform.

I was just browsing around on devRant as usual and I got an idea. Though I'm pretty sure many people must have had it already.
But still, don't you guys think it would be nice to not hide the rant when you tap on it to expand because on slow networks it takes a long time to load the whole rant so we as users could just read the short version of the rant while it's being loaded and save some time. We could then just tap a long rant for it to expand and then read the smaller version until it does, it'll just save time I think.

Working at a startup is amazingly exciting and interesting.
Finally rolled out a feature from our company and. Is working on another one and the production bug keep coming from the old one. -

This is just a idea, but sometimes rants can create new rant's what need a place of there own, maybe adding a option that lets you Re-Rant or something like this what will take someones reply as the leading rant and you comment as the first reply to that rant, Letting the original rant to say true to its topic5 -

@dfox I have a strange behaviour. Don't know if it's just me. But when I Click on a rant to open it on "a new window" and I give the rant a "++" and go Back afterwards, the plus icon on the specific rant changed the Color to Red but the counter didn't changed. When I Click the rant again, the counter and the Color is correct. But if I go Back again, only the Color remains, not the counter.
Does anybody else made this experience?
