I give up. It‘s impossible to argue with Apple.
I tried to bring my unofficial iOS devRant app "JoyRant" into the AppStore. It was available via TestFlight for years and it wasn‘t a problem there, apparently. Now for the AppStore, it is a problem.
I talked with the Apple review team for 3 weeks and the discussion went in circles.
They said that my app tries to disguise as or to misrepresent another app on the store (the official devRant app, even though it‘s not available anymore, apparently).
I was asked to remove all of the mentions of devRant from any description or any place in the app. I did. Even though it was stupid because how are people supposed to know that they need a devRant account to use my app? I‘m not allowed to mention devRant.
After that, they said that it can not have the name JoyRant because it sounds too similar to devRant.
I changed it to devJoy everywhere, the app, the meta data for the app store, the github page where the required legal crap is hosted, and in the legal documents themselves.
Did it help? No, it didn‘t.
Apple then proceeded to claim that my app is trying to deceive the users into thinking that this is the official devRant app. Even though I have explicitly stated in the description that it is just an unofficial devRant client.
Now apple says that I should "revise the app content".
Which I assume means that I need to make it something different. Yeah. Great suggestion!
So, I will rename the app back to JoyRant and provide it via TestFlight, as it was before.

@dfox You may want to explicitly set the text color on the devRant web app. It's kinda hard to read for those of us who have joined the dark side on Linux (Dark GTK+ theme), at least on Firefox. :)

Do you ever open devRant, read a little, and then exit the app to find something else to do. Then open the app immediately again, because that's what you do when you want something to do?4

When opening devRant after having my phone locked for awhile, the app freezes for 30-180 sec. It usually recovers, but not always. It's painful 🙁

!rant #meta: I registered just yesterday and woke up this morning with 44 notifications, which is great because this community is obviously refreshingly active, plus I really love getting notifications. Nevertheless, is it really necessary to create an individual notification for EVERY SINGLE +1?! Dear devRant devs, I love what you're doing. But please, PLEASE, merge/group these notifications into just a few. I don't want to go through every single one of these, it's just cluttering my notification list. I always just clear the list and then use the in-app bell symbol to navigate to whatever item I'm interested in. I can't be the only one.4

I think the report rant function should have a verification function. Like asking me if I'm sure I want to report this rant.
I just reported a rant I didn't mean to, because I wanted to mute notifications on it3 -
I scroll devRant more often than any other app now. Such fascinating tragedies and lol-worthy rants in here. I'm pretty sure I've shred tears using this app.2

The best thing about this app which I like the most is the load time for the app. It has an amazing load time when you start the app. Period. Will soon become a supporter. Good job guys! Trying out the Windows 10 version of devRant. I had to get the Windows Store back on my system as I got rid of the Windows App the came with upgade but, once I figured how to add it back, I got devRant and it looks great!1

Come on devRant! I’m getting really annoyed when clicking on rant that has [read more] at the end since it is a gamble to kill this iOS app you have made. Every ~5th click I get app terminated. Then after I reenter the app, I lost where I was. Thats why I ++ all the rants I have read, even those who don’t deserve it :), so I can scroll quickly and see which are not ++’ed.3

Did you notice that the scrollbar in the devrant (android) app changes size depending on the lenght/number of posts/comments you can see at the moment? Just scroll down in the posts list and see the scroll bar crawl like a caterpillar 😮1

In places devRant Android App needs to clear activity stack... We see extra screens when we hit back, for example, when we modifiy a rant or a comment, we see the older one as well which is redundant.2

Devrant iOS app removed from my region's App Store for some reason. Can use the web app but cannot use iOS app. That is kinda unfair. It was there before. :(

Devrant app getting really slow in terms of loading. Content opens after 3 - 4 trials of restarting the app. Otherwise just connectivity issue or blank screen(with no loading). Anyone else facing it?13

What drop shadow did DevRant use for their UWP app, Microsoft recently released blog theme shadow, but it's work well with the rounded elements. I guess DevRant use different technique.1

I was writing a random rant about something that happened to me this morning, and the app decide to crash a second before I could post it.
I get it devRant, my stories aren't interesting, but you could at least have crash at the beginning and not after I have already spent half an hour writing the story :( -
I really regret that I can't share picture ranters post on this app (to other app, or save in the phone)2
