Thanks to @sain2424, we found a really weird bug in devRantron.
One of the user that commented on or upvoted his rant has deleted that account. So when the notification component was trying to fetch the user's avatar to show the notification, it was failling and causing the app to crash.
@Cyanite the bugs you reported is fixed as well. Please update 🙃 🙃3 -

- xy app is running in the background notification, which can't be disabled
- xy app is overlaying other apps, click here if you wish to disable it. But you can't disable the notification, you can only disable the app.
- the un-zeroable data limit. It can't be disabled, you can only set it to a retarded high number to avoid annoying notifications

At the time that I got that notification the last time I logged on was only a day or two ago. And I'm not even subbed to that many people!

Had to remove the unread notification dots, because else I simply didn't have enough space and everything else just didn't seem right

Working for a startup building a device / app that let you answer your landline phone on your mobile, and get notifications of missed calls etc.
While developing I purposely didn't secure the endpoint that controlled push notifications.
I waited for the boss to sign up, went to the DB and stole his token. From time to time i'd send a request telling him he missed a call from his wife or son.
... then kicked back and watched the madness and frustration ensue. -

Is it too much to apply these notification settings to in-app ones also, the list you can see by pushing bell button. I don’t wanna learn who ++ed me or new comments.
I know we can mute rants manually but it is an extra manual effort. Auto-muting all rants i touched except direct mentions is what I really want.

I wish devRant had some cache thingy for comments,posts that has been visited or even post in timeline so it didn't make new request to load the post that has been already in timeline rather show the post when I click on it and load the comments separately. @dfox I think that it would be more comfortable to mark as viewed a notification once you open the notifications menu.
What I mean is that, you don't actually have to click on the notif, enter the rant, and get back to the menu to leave it as seen.

Recently, Apple rolled out Push Notifications for PWA websites as a beta feature on iOS 16.4 devices. And let me tell you, it's a game-changer! But, when a client asked me to implement push notifications for their iOS users via web and service worker, I knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park.
Why, you ask? Well, their backend code base was written in Plain F*cking Vanilla PHP, which felt like I had time-traveled back to the 1980s! Plus, since the ios web push feature is still in its early stages, there were hardly any resources to guide me through the process of sending push notifications to Apple WebPush API using plain php.
Despite the obstacles, I managed to successfully send notifications to Mozilla and Google Chrome users. But Safari? Not so much. The client needed the task done within 24 hours, but due to delays, it ended up taking me three days to figure out the kinks. In the end, I had to refund the client, but I'm not one to give up easily.
In fact, I've created a public GitHub repo for a Quotes App in Flutter (https://github.com/GiddyNaya/...) that can send PN to iOS users via web. I'm diving down the rabbit hole to figure out how to make it work seamlessly, and I won't stop until I've cracked the code. Wish me luck!15 -

So I changed my FB account password and it gave me email notification with an ip address. And then when I logged in it gave me another notification email with a different IP address this time. Should I be concerned about my network security? This is just SO ANNOYING!!!2

!rant I happen to get some notifications from devRant lately and thought that it would be quite nice to be able to customise the notification LED colour - any plans on implementing this? This would help me to easily distinguish between devRant and other notifications.2

I have a persistent (1) on my in-app notification bell (Android). I can't find any unread notification. It should be a comment notification. Maybe somebody generated such a notif, my phone picked it up, and then the other person undid the action that lead to the notif? (E.g. un-++, remove a comment or mention, delete their account, ???).
I see the (1) notification to on the web, and I can't find the actual notification there either!5 -
Why don’t social media websites including DevRant have like/share notification disabling?

When is devrant going to fix the notification counter? I've never seen it work properly. The numbers spins through several seemingly random numbers and end on a wrong number 😕1
