I fucking love my parents.
Came to visit them again and told them that I might buy an iPhone in the future (I fucking hate apple/i-devices and they know that).
Mom: "You are going to WHAT? Are you okay, son?"
Dad: *walks towards me and puts hand on forehead* "Hmmm, doesn't seem to be that warm. Maybe we should visit a psychiatrist soon."
Me: 😂. mom, dad, I fucking love you.52 -
So, since I hear from a lot of people (on here and irl) that Linux has a 'very high learning curve', let me share my experiences with the first time my dad touched Linux (Elementary OS) without me interfering at all! (keep in mind that he is very a-technical)
*le me boots the system* (I already did setup a user account for him and gave him the password).
Dad: *enters password and presses enter*
Me: "Hmm that went faster than expected."
Dad: "Uhm I know how to login son, it's not that hard and pretty obvious".
Me: "Alright, why don't you try to open up the default word documents editor on here! I'll be right back!"
Me: *Goes away and returns after a minute*.
Dad: *already a few test sentences typed in LibreOffice writer* it's going pretty well :)!
Me: "Oo how did you find that?!"
Dad: "Well, there's a thingy that says 'applications' so I clicked in and found it in the "Office" section, do you think I am blind or something?!"
Me: 😐. uhm no but I just didn't think you'd find it that quickly. Now try to install Chromium browser! *thinking: he'll fail this one for sure* I'll be right back :).
Me: *returns again after a minute or so*
Dad: *already searching for stuff through Chromium*
Me: "wait, how the hell did you do that so quickly, it's not the easiest thingy for most people".
Dad: "Jesus, it's not that hard! I went to the application browsing thingy, typed 'software' and then a sorta software store icon showed up so I clicked it and it opened a windows with a search bar saying something like 'search for applications/software'. clicked in it, typed 'chromium', saw it coming up, there was a very clear 'install' button, it asked for my password, I put it in and after a little it gave a notification that it was installed. Then I went to that application browsing thingy again and typed Chromium. Then I hit enter because it selected an icon called chromium...."
Me: O.o. Okay this is going very good, now open an email client and login to your email address!
Dad: *goes to application browsing thingy, types 'email', evolution icon shows up, dad clicks it, email address setup steps show up and dad follows them quickly. After about a minute, everything is setup.
I expected this to be a hard process for someone who dealt with Windows his entire life but damn, I underestimated it.
Asked him if he found it easy/what he liked about it:
"Well, it's very clear where I can find everything, default browser/email/word document editor programs are easy to find and that's about all I need so yeah, great system!"
I am proud of you, dad!77 -
Proud dad moment:
My son just worked out how to use a firestick remote to put Thomas on TV.
He's 2.
My parents can barely work their remote without playing 20 questions.
Not long before he learns how to use bash now!11 -
My dad picked up programming in Java as a hobby when I started my own dev company. We pair program on the weekends! 😁8

Dad: Because your Mom loves roses! Son: Thanks dad!
Dad: No problem, vue.js16 -
My dad called me up at 11:30 PM telling me that his computer wasn't booting. I drive over to see what was going on. I notice immediately that the motherboard light is a solid amber light.
Me: "The motherboard is amber, that means it's failing to POST".
Dad: "How soon can we fix it? I need to run my Ebay business."
Me: "A week probably. You have a laptop that works can you use that?"
Dad: "It doesn't work great with Windows, it's not a very powerful compu"
Me: "You're going to use Linux dad. Welcome to Linux."11 -

Recently I've been upgrading ubuntu. It took almost midnight.
Suddenly my area witnessed low voltage.
That woke up my dad.
(Now the funny part)
He looked at my laptop. Ordered me to stop whatever is running on it.
Naturally, I asked why!
No response.
Next morning, I came to know my dad thought those gibberish commands running on terminal caused that voltage to drop.
I laughed like hell...
(Me infornt of dad - hackerman)
(Not that funny tho)

My mom actually is right: "He makes websites, but the background things we don't see!"
My dad thinks I write all of my code in binary: "Joost writes zero's and one's all day long!"
My sister thinks every website I create is a blog...
And finally most of my friends think I'm a hacker and I'm gonna break into their phone (iPhones pff)10 -
Me : it's my new android app, this app lets you store daily routines and is very fast.
Dad : where's the money?
Friends : so now you will get a job at Google 😱
Girlfriend : install this on my iPhone
Mom : You are genius. Now get the groceries I asked you for.1 -

someone who thought me about computer when i was a child. someone who thought me machine code, and cobol. someone who thought me about the world. now he is, my dad, hospitalized again (12th times already this year) for cardiac arrest. and today, he is getting better and showing a lot of progress.
This situation thought me again about how life works and how hard can it be. my dad divorced with my mom since i am 3 months old and i've been living with my aunt since. and now he married again with a women with 2 child. i though he was gonna be happy. and apparently not. at the time of the cardiac arrest, his wife don't even want to bother and getting involved if her husband got anything emergency like this, every single thing is thrown at me (or my aunt), from calling the ambulance, paying the hospital and medical bills, accompany my dad, every minor perks, Everything and Always. Once, i reach the point and i'm very angry to her, but my dad always hold me back. and now i don't even want to bother, care, or whatever to his wife again. i just care for my father.
This will temper me more and more, for anyone who searching for your love of your life, please be careful. there is still alot of woman who doesnt have any heart.
Life is hard.10 -
My dad turned off my laptop this morning, so tonight, before going to sleep I had to tell him, not to do this.

So it turns out that my dad accidentally took my spare laptop on a work trip. He's about as non-tech as you can get, and that laptop runs...Arch Linux. Yeah.
(call from dad)
M: hi dad
D: what's your desktop password?
M: (confused) {Password}
D: okay.
(cuts the call)
M: *shrug*
(call from dad)
M: hi dad
D: so where is PowerPoint?! where's the Windows button?! I've been at this for half an hour now and I have to edit a presentation for tomorrow!!
M: (realizes what's happened) oh...uh...dad...that's.. Linux...
D: don't you people do anything the way it's supposed to be done?
M: uh...
D: ugh! So you can't edit PPTs on this?
M: (processing...LibreOffice isn't installed on the laptop, and he will have to use the command line to connect to the internet to use Office Online or Google Slides since the Deepin WiFi module keeps fucking up for some reason)
D: well?
M: (internal sigh) No, you can't edit PPTs on that.
D: wow.
(cuts the call)
He either thinks we're all useless or that we have godlike computer skills to be able to edit PPTs on Linux. Oh well.
(He managed to use the hotel's "workstation" to get it done, so all is well. I should tell him to change his password though, hotel computers have rubbish security.)14 -

I hold two degrees in computer science/engineering and to this day, whenever I have to help my dad with any computer related stuff, he *always* says:
"Good thing we let you study this stuff!"
Yeah, right dad. Fixing your windows problems is exactly what I learned in university 😒4 -
I had a boss I hated. Couldn’t stand him. Then I got a call saying my dad had collapsed and was at the hospital. I went into his office and told him I had to go because my dad was in the hospital.
“Why are you telling me?” he said. “Get the hell out of here.”
I looked at him quite differently after that.3 -

I wanted a computer for my Christmas. Must have been 1987 and I just have been about 8.
A few days before Xmas my aunt gave me a card with £5 in it. I asked my dad “dad, if I was getting a computer I could use the £5 to buy a game”
My dad explained to me that we couldn’t afford it and maybe next year.
Woke up the next morning to a shiny new Commodore 64 AND my own little tv.
Never been happier.2 -
My dad showed me one of his old notebooks from like 1980 or something and it was all handwritten FORTRAN stuff he used to do. Wow... We've come a long way.5

So now I am a very down to earth programmer.4 -
Proud of my dad today.
He used to be the type of person who installs any application/software without reading what's being displayed on the screen. And my browsers used to be filled with all those toolbars and random search engines.
But yesterday when he was installing an app on his phone, he came to me asking "why does this app need access to contacts. It shouldn't require them in the first place".
I've succeeded in my mission.

I was 11 or 12 years old, my dad had this policy that only *nix machines are allowed in our home, so I was rocking a Ubuntu pc at that time. I was messing around with it and tweaking some things here and there, but wanted to learn more. My dad showed me how to open python on the command line and gave me some simple tasks to do. Been hooked ever since.
PS. Still going by the same policy, even though I live on my own.10 -
My dad used to be a Marketing Manager. He used to make a lot of presentations et al for his meetings. We got our first computer in our house when I was around 7 years old. It was first Windows 95, but I wasn't fortunate enough to even touch the machine. My dad was very protective about the machine. He himself would not use it unless he had to complete some work overnight. For me, it was an absolute wonder as to how and what that thing in the bedroom sitting on the desk next to my parents bedside was. I used to hide and peek around the door sill when my dad was working on it. He became a bit more lenient with the Windows 98 and let me and my sibling play DOS games under his supervision for a limited time.
Over time, I managed to look over his shoulder for the passwords - both BIOS and OS user passwords and started logging in myself. By now, my dad would let me sit on the bed near him when I looked curiously as he worked. Then I had to figure how to connect to the internet and surf the web. And there folks is how my journey with computers began.3 -
My dad has been using android for about 4-5 years now. I just showed him how the notification drop down works.3

Happened half a year ago (parents both use Linux although they're very a-techie).
*Dads laptop comes back from store after a repair*
Dad: (on the phone) hello son, could you help me out? they put some weird stuff on my laptop at the repair centre...
Me: Weird stuff? like what?
Dad: It's a virus I think
Me: A virus??
Dad: Definitely a virus!
Me: And what is this virus called?
Dad: Windows 10!
Me: Oh yes coming over asap to get that removed!
I put elementary OS on it again when i went to visit my parents.17 -
My dad has been using a Windows computer every day since 95. Yesterday he discovered that if you click the little tabs in the "details" view of the file explorer, you can sort the contents of a folder by name, date, etc.
I also tried to show him how to scroll with the mouse wheel, but he said it was too complicated, and he preferred to drag the scroll bar every single time.4 -
My dad said I can't be a farmer.
The I did this:

We'll he was right coz this is the closest I'm gonna get.
Oh!, wait; I can have a server farm.9 -
Mom is proud. My sister thinks I am a huge nerd. Dad is jealous because he would have done CS but it didn't really exist when he went to college. My grandparents think I can fix everything now (like resetting their facebook!password :D )3

My dad got a new phone over the weekend and asked me to help him set it up (TL;DR his IPhone broke, he likely cussed out someone on the phone and now he's on android).
Setting up his bank app, I asked for his password (I somehow knew asking a 80+ year old man password questions wouldn't end well)
<pulls a card out of his wallet>
Dad: "Here you go."
Me: "This is your business card?"
Dad: "Yep. Password is at the bottom. That way I never forget it."
Me: "Jeez dad, you shouldn't have your bank's password on a business card. You don't give these out to people, do you?"
Dad: "Sometimes. Hell, they won't know what that is. Its just a bunch of nonsense."
Luckily the password didn't work. He had to reset it when his IPhone messed up and didn't remember what he changed the password to.6 -

Is it normal for a dad to jump into his son's decisions?
Recently he accepted a job offer that was directed to me. I got mad and asked why on earth he would do that.
He provocatively answered "Who are you to make this decision? I'm allowed to decide over you! Don't be so disrespectful towards your dad!".
If he was not my dad, I would have beaten the shit out of him.
PS: I'm still in college that's why I can't leave atm.18 -
My dad is quite supportive.
After I graduated, he brought home a bunch of broken CPUs for me to fix. -

Sister of a friend of mine fucked up her Mac, her Dad, they called me to fix it.

Some time 199x, when I was still a little kiddo, my dad bought a PC. It had a big ass HDD (dimensions-wise), 1x 3.5" floppy disk drive and a 5.25" floppy disk drive. It ran DOS. Dad managed to hook up a dot matrix Epson printer to it and used the computer for writing... whatever, really :)
Then dad got some of those 5" floppies with games and installed them on our PC. Mach3, Indy, Entity and Atlantis were my favourite ones. Later we got Wolfenstein 3-D, but that was just too scary, too intense for me.
All that was years before we got Windows 3.0 installed there. -

I am so proud of my dad :D Last weekend I went to Minecon and spent most of my time with other modders. When I posted on FB a friend replied "I didn't see you", to which I said "I was with the modders". My dad then replied what are modders. It was late at night so I didn't get to respond and forgot about it.
This morning when I talked to him he said he looked on the online dictionary and found the definition by himself. That made me really proud, considering he is not computer savy and always relied on me to answer IT questions 😍 -
Dad called me over for "tech support". He'd bought a wireless mouse and keyboard and couldn't for the life of him get it working. The issue with my dad is that he never lets you touch the computer when he needs help. 20 minutes and 20 questions later, I finally ask if he plugged in the USB receiver. Answer? "It's wireless, it should just... work!"2

I would like to thank my mom and dad, all of the ranters who have contributed to this achievement and you, @dfox and @trogus—without you this would not be possible.4 -
Friend: "I'm so tired of coding. I've been pressured to do it since I was 9. My dad worked for Sun and he was so obsessed with coding that he even named our dogs Java and Scratch" 😂7

My dad thinks I'm a lazy twat... (He studied computer sience as well)
Every other member of my family thinks I'm a wizard, Harry.2 -

New years resolutions:
1. Reading all 16 books on my goodreads list
2. Learn Clojure
3. Switch job to a company which appreciates my skills more
4. Be the best dad my son could wish for5 -
Today I showed my dad some of the projects I’ve been woking on, he said to me son show me something that makes money.
I had nothing.13 -
My dad thinks keeping old messages in whatsapp can make his Moto G4 phone hang.
He just doesn't understand when i try to convince him it is technically not possible and deletes old messages one by one everyday
😶6 -
Heights of laziness.
My dad's laptop having "WINDOWS OS" got full of viruses and my dad wanted me to repair it since I visited my home.
But I insisted him to get it repaired at some IT shop. Went to an IT shop, my dad introduced the shopkeeper that I am his son and is a software engineer. That moment, I really felt bad that even I could have done formatting and installing applications back.
Now, let's hope it comes back full healthy and clean.19 -
When there is no WiFi internet
Me:
1.checking router connection
2. Opening the WiFi admin portal and checking the port and socket.
3. Open CMD and ping www.google.com
My dad: Just un-plug it and plug it again
Me: 😶4 -
Sorry for my bad english.
So, I made an e-commerce site for a company once. It's actually just a WordPress site with that WooCommerce plugin.
After that, my dad was "advertising me (suggesting me?)" to one of his friend that I can make a website.
Then his friend called me and I asked what to do. In short, she has an online marketplace website where the users can be either a seller or a buyer (just an ordinary e-bay like site). Her site is built with PHP (codeigniter 2).
I can't make custom site that's why I'm using WordPress for my client, I'm still learning PHP right now. How do I tell my dad to not "overestimate" my ability to make sites. I already told my dad about my abilities and I'm still learning, but he keep saying that I should accept it because it will give you experiences.11 -
"why do you like computers more than women" was a question my dad asked me today. that was a fucking curveball lemme tell ya
turns out my dad thinks i'm sexually attracted to computers as i don't flirt with women nor do I date.
I don't have a car, I don't have money, I like an hour from town, I have no charisma and I look like an unevenly-melted candle someone dropped into a bag of shaved 5 o'clock stubble. Of course I don't talk to people IRL.4 -
When my dad is answering questions about what job i'm doing, he always says 'He designs websites'. :(6
-
I remember when I was just a child, 6 or 7 I think, my uncle bought a computer and it was a magical thing for me.
When I became a little familiar with it, I told my dad: "I really like to make programs for computer".
And I still like programming.1 -
Getting called by my dad "how do I make a local network with my phone?"
"I don't fricking know, I don't have your phone"
"Well you are the tech guy"
Really now?11 -
My first rant. My very "african" dad just told me coding is for people who want an excuse to sit in front of a computer all day. An excuse for laziness.
it's funny coming from someone who never paid a single attention or gave me a single penny to support me 😪11 -
Oh shit, a 16 yo guy come with a MacBook Air to repair.
“My mom hide the Mac in the oven. And my dad to preheat the oven...”
Really?? Yep, all keyboard keys jumped but he boots normally after disconnect/reconnect internal battery.13 -
*installing linux on my mini laptop*
- Dad: "you should make a backup image of windows 10"
- Me: "LOL NOPE!"
(With 2gb of ram, linux makes it the perfect lightweight coding machine. But with W10? Jesus christ)6 -
What was your most ridiculous story related to IT?
Mine was when I was quite small (11yo) and wanted a graphics card (the epoch of ATI Radeon 9800), looked at the invoice to know what kind of ports I had in the pc (did not open it), then proceeded to brat to my dad to get me a new GPU
So we where in Paris, we went to a shop, vendor asked me "PCI or AGP?" and said AGP.
Paris > London > Isle of Skye roadtrip followed, then as my dad brought me back home in Switzerland, we opened my pc...
And we couldn't fit the GPU in the basic old PCI port. My Dad was pissed. He frustratedly tried fitting the GPU in the PCI slot, but nope. (He's a software engineer though)
At least the GPU had 256 mb of ram :D
Gave it to my brother 6 months later at family gathering
To this day, my Dad still thinks I cannot handle hardware, although I have successfully built 10+ pc, and still cringes with a laughing smile when I talk to him about it haha
Ah well.1 -
There is a possibility that I might maybe hopefully get a laptop if I help my dad with one of his own long-term projects.
If this actually happens, I don't have to run Linux of a SD card anymore :D2 -

So family doesn't really know coding. Just me and my little sister. But then my dad suddenly made jokes with loops and stuff. I have no idea where he learned it. They're not actually accurate but I really love it when he does that.2 -
The solution to a long running bug hit me while I was ironing my shirt today. I took to my heels running upstairs to make the update on my PC and with my haste provoked a shock in the living room causing everyone to run after me.
Finally I got to my PC ignoring the puzzled crowd behind me. Turned it on, launched my VS and was about to make the update when my dad from behind patted my shoulder:
Dad: Hey, what made you ran that way? You got us all scared.
Me: * short gibberish explanation *
Dad: Next time be cautious of the people around you.
Me: * apologized to everyone *
Now back to my PC:
VS Code: (⊙_⊙)
Me: (⊙_⊙)
VS Code: (⊙_⊙)
Me: (⊙_⊙)
ヽ(°〇°)ノ Fuck I forgot the code. I forgot the fucking code!
Everyone back in the room... Me still screaming *fuck*2 -
when I graduated my dad would 'help' me in my job hunt by cutting out postings from the New York Times for "Lead Software Engineer" positions at Microsoft, Google etc despite the fact that I really was just trying to get a junior level position...2
-
My dad actually. He's been in the industry for 40+ years. (Mostly answers my questions with a question and we end up talking about a whole different concept but in the end he's an amazing teacher.)1

My fiancée is helping her dad setup an iTunes account and it's just painful to listen too. I can't take much more of this.1
-
So I had this conversation with my dad
Background : He saw news about some celebrity's Twitter account got hacked.
Dad : Do you know how to hack a Twitter account?
Me : No dad. There are ways for people who do this kind of stuff.
D : But, you studied software engineering!
M : Yeah, but I don't do hacking.
D : Although hacking is not ethical but everyone should know about their field.
*Awkwardly left the room*
Just because I studied computer science doesn't mean that I SHOULD know hacking.
And this is not the first conversation of this kind!4 -
Me : I like making games,I think I will take that as my career.
Dad : *like every generic Indian Parent* Games are waste of time, use your skills to make something productive !3 -
My dad has had an android phone for about 3 years now. He just learnt that the big circle at the bottom takes you to the home screen. I love my dad.2
-
Since my mom asks me for a new website every 6 months, and the fact that my dad and my girlfriend are developers as well..
They know exactly what I do!4 -
My dad once told me "Computers are stupid because they do what you tell them to do, not what you want them to do." and honestly that gets truer the more I mess with 'em.2
-
I would say that I have good parents and my dad also supports what I do (most of the time) but could my mother please calm down and let me do what I enjoy doing while not yelling at me to learn Latin saying that it is 'the most important subject'.1
-
For the first two years of college or so, my dad would often ask when I was going to start taking apart computers in classes.
"Dad, we don't do that."
....
"No, I'm learning about the software aspect."
...
"Never."1 -
I appreciate “elegant” code the same way I appreciate fine wine: pretending to care while quietly sitting, passively listening to snobs drone on about barrel aging and vineyards and languages, statically-typed while simultaneously shutting my brain off, ordering another shot of tequila and working up the courage to fight my dad.
-
When I was 6 years old, my dad brought home a computer. It had windows 95 and he gave me 3 floppy disks to work with and here we are now.

I was bored at my workplace and thought to put curl code to GET a random dad joke on opening terminal everytime
Fuck, now I'm having a migraine
but i have an idea to expand this project even more4 -
dad: yeah sure , that's why no laptop is working well in this house
all three laptops are older than 4 years and use 5400 rpm hdds and also are full of my parent's stuff. -
Sorry I haven't been as active lately, however this is one of the better prompts, so I feel I should have it in my track record. Beware, it's a long one...
Let's trace the roots: My uncle was building desktops and he told my dad he'd build him one if my dad paid him for the components. These days I know builds aren't rocket science, but back then my parents didn't do their research. So my dad paid him.
Give or take some time, and most of the parts are complete. He underestimated the prices of a few things and had to ask for $200 more to complete the build. This...caused my dad to explode.
Later, I heard my dad ranting to my stepmom in January 2017 about how the last convo he had with his brother was a "Fuck-you conversation" - it was the last because my uncle had died in 2003.
Flash forward to March 2017. My mom and I are sitting in a Fazoli's, a nice sunset out of the full-length windows. I had to probe. HAD TO.
"You promise you won't tell your dad I told you this?" she asked.
"You know Kellie and I can't stand to be around him." I replied.
As the story goes, that last "Fuck-you conversation"? Over a fucking measly $200. Yup, the last conversation between my dad and his brother to ever happen was a shouting match over a relatively short amount of money. I wish I could say my dad had remorse, but he doesn't. He still talks shit. He's also technologically illiterate, so I doubt there was a way his brother was going to be able to reason with him.
In late 2003, my uncle, who had been a smoker, passed away due to cardiac arrest. The build was still not finished. This was one of the OTHER things that I have mixed feelings about.
After my uncle passed, my aunt paid someone to finish the build and get it shipped to my dad. We'll get back to why I feel this is fucked up, stay tuned...
---------
It's Spring 2004. I'm in the last half of what I think is Kindergarten or some shit...too lazy to do the math. Anyway, my dad announces we have a family computer - however, I couldn't read yet. That didn't stop the waste of oxygen that is my father from going in the Windows XP screensavers and putting text in that said "GAGE MORGAN WILL NOT TOUCH THIS COMPUTER." He's such a fuckin' dick, now AND back then.
My mom had an issue with this. I don't know why, but she did. Later, I was slowly taught how to use the mouse, under heavy supervision. Then I went to my grandma's house. She taught me one very specific thing on her old Win98 (386, maybe? IDK my old hw shit man), and because I know you guys are gonna love this one:
"The blue "e" opens up your games!"
The blue "e" does not open up your games, it opens something that can lead to your games.
I went home and tried this...without permission. My dad came down and discovered my lollygagging on the homepage - this is fucking weird. It was before Nextel, IIRC, so Sprint's logo was red still. Yes, we had broadband from Sprint. I don't know what saga led to that going the way of the dodo, but...
Back on track, I literally got my pants pulled down and had my bare bottom beat. He was gonna drag my ass upstairs and lock me in my room, but before he could, he accidentally slammed MY FUCKING RIGHT TEMPLE into the corner of a hardwood table at the bottom of the staircase.
The wailing that resulted probably was different than the previous form, which is probably what got my mom involved. My dad had a way of going too far, and in retrospect I'm more terrified now of what could've happened than I was then.
Later, I was given access to games in the form of my own account and bookmarks bar. That wasn't the end of the madness/drama from my use of that machine, but it was the earliest form.
Ever since Kindergarten, that one fateful day, I've been defying any/all imposed limitations on tech set on me by my parents...well, not anymore, but literally grades K-12. I'm living on my own, aka "adulting" now. It sucks more than you think, man.
---------
Let's tie this up before I reach the limit. I said I thought it was fucked up when my aunt paid to have the build finished and shipped to us after my uncle's death.
Yes, my aunt's intervention led to me ultimately majoring in computer science.
That doesn't change the fact that she shouldn't have done it.
My dad was an asshole to her husband, who passed. She is ultimately too caring. I don't think my jackass father should've been able to get by with that, he didn't deserve the freebie. Someone else should've told him his brother did in fact need that $200.
I haven't seen her IRL since the funeral when my grandpa passed in 2005. 2006 spelled the end of my parents' marriage.
Hope you guys enjoyed this - it's only a small segment of how I got to where I am now - tiny, actually.2 -
Hey guys...
So...
Today was my first day in a Molding Company (CNC operator)... IT was fine, I barely could hold on physically but I did it :D In less than two weeks I'll be operating my 3 new machines like a PRO.
But that's not the full story... I came home, my dad calls me, and has a mold drawn on paper (2D) for me to model in 3D and print... lol.
I'm proud, not just because I got a new job at first try, now just because my dad asks me to build stuff, but Also because my dad is a DIY guy with lotssss of experience... And now he's the one asking for help, opinions, how to do something...2 -
I used to have a friend who swore that his dad worked with a gubernamental hacking agency. One day we started talking about my personal programming projects and he asked why I wouldn't say that I was a hacker and not a programmer, he believed that calling yourself a hacker was better. I explained to him that a hacker was not the same as a programmer or as a developer. We got into an argument and then I realized that if his dad truly worked in a hacking agency, he would know the difference *facepalm*9

JavaScript would say:
I am just as popular as my Dad but nothing like my Dad. Did I mention that I make new babies everyday. -
Mom and Dad were proud, when I said I will develop Apps. They helped me to found my own company and arranged some new clients.
My brother is happy with it and is taking CS courses at school.
I've never met people who treated me as a nerd or did not accept my choice1 -
My dad just found out his laptop is running Windows 10..... He thought it was still running 8.1....
Somehow he missed the party where all Win 8 PCs get a free upgrade to 10....3 -
My dad: "Oh yeah, JavaScript, Java, I know that stuff! You know the Mars Rover is actually using JavaScript?"
Me: "Oh is it now?"
Dad: "Yeah lots of things use Java"
Me: "You mean JavaScript?"
Dad: "Yeah Java, JavaScript, you know like building website forms"
Me:" Yeah I know, yeah, I, know... -_-"6 -
My dad let me use how computer and have me a VB6 book when I was like 5.
I took it from there though it seems it tube in the family.
Dad's a Dev
I'm a Dev
My younger brother is also a Dev
My mom is QA, though used to be maintenance dev I think2 -
My dad always told me to use my head...
Well now its raining and they need to get back home. My apartment is 15mins away from their office by train + Uber...
Their home is a 1.5hr train + car and that's assuming everything runs on time.
Somehow it didn't cross their mind that perhaps they would be better staying over at my place? ...3 -
Not so much in my work but more my career.
My dad has been a great role model, still is and always will be.
He was an hard working metalworker. He loved his job. It's not a 50k job but he could easily manage his life.
My dad showed me that doing what you love, working with passion, makes your life easier and more fun. You deliver high quality products, because you care.
Since I found out that I love programming, I made it my life goal to do it as my career.
I've never been happier before. After all, I make money with my hobby.1 -
Security Issues with Chrome:
My dad was just saying that his work wouldn't let him use Google Chrome because of its supposed 'security issuse'. Just wondered if anyone knew of any real 'security issuse' with chrome that are legitimate? Or is it all just rumours...11 -
Just remembered an old dad story:
Around 30 years ago I started a game on my Commodore 64, I was about 15 at the time, and back then you had to load the games from cassette tapes.
So I started the cassette player and waited for the game to load, and when it was done I stopped the tape. My dad saw this and he asked :
- "Why did you stop the tape if you want to play the game?"
And I guess it is kind of natural for someone who used cassette tapes for listening to music, to say that :-) Still I laughed at my dad...3 -
My grandad visited and he and my dad built a computer. 100MHz, 133 if you pushed the turbo button, 4x cd rom drive, Windows 3.1. My brother and I fought over it nearly every day.
-
1990, I was about 11. my dad had old computer magazines that contained PRINTED basic games. I used to type those to the gwbasic console on my PC, play some, and then mod them for my younger brother's amusement.
-
My dad thinks I'm a Java developer and shows me corporate job opportunities in that field. He thinks Java = JavaScript. Doesn't matter how many times i try to make him understand.
My mom just knows that i do computer and can help her when she needs tech help.

So today is actually my mom's birthday. My dad got creative (after he watched this videos http://video.weibo.com/show/...)7
-
My dad got us a a home computer on ~1995 without video games. But he brought a software where we can program our own games. So, we learn programming.4
-
So my dad wants to try out Linux. I’m thinking of giving him Ubuntu Budgie or Linux Mint Cinnamon... Any suggestions?4
-
I began exploring code and graphic design early on at about 6-7 years old. My Dad had a commodore 64 with a few games and a little handbook that had some awesome examples to go by. My Dad had at one time been a subscriber to a serial magazine for Commodore enthusiasts that featured a snippet of code in each issue. After getting into my Dad's old stash of magazines I was able to combine all the magazines and write the code from each issue to create a hangman game. This got me into computers and programming. Then we did some Logo/Turtle work as got into qbasic on our IBM machine.
-
Solved one great issue today, one that was holding back the launching of my newest project. Laughed pretty hard when I did it, but the most special about solving it was when my dad saw the result and said "congrats son, it's perfect!"
-
My dad: I don't know why you like programming... you write lines of meaningless things, there is no logic behind.
Me: ...Actually, it's not true... ehm... it doesn't matter... (in my mind: you would not understand)1 -
Programming when sad...
My dad is acutely ill, and trying to focus on code is so hard! This has happened before, and makes me realize that our normal day job is really taxing mentally...2 -
My mum wants to learn how to use a computer. She wants to help my dad in his business in case something needs to be done and neither me nor my dad are (currently) available.
Will be .... a great challenge, since she didn't use a desktop computer almost ever, but i'm nevertheless proud of her and will try my best to help her😍😊😎6 -
My dad bought a book on introduction to Macromedia Flash.
I came for the animations, stayed for the coding. -
Me: *tries to convince my dad to use linux*
Dad: ohh, but what about programs?
Me: I think you’ll find what you need. You mostly use spreadsheet anyway. What you’re looking for?
Dad: Ohh you know, there used to be this very good spreadsheet program, I forgot how it was called...
Me: LibreOffice? WPS Off...
Dad: Lotus 1-2-3!7 -
Child to Mark Zuckerberg: My dad is saying that you are spying on us.
Mark Zuckerberg: he is not your dad4 -
Passed the whole day working on the back-end of my web-app, and right when I decide to find some nice icons for the front-end... My dad enters the room.
Now he thinks that I play with pretty icons the whole day.

Dad was taking me and my brother to work and we were playing with his pc. Our game was MS PowerPoint :D. We were adding funny images/emoticons to a slide and laugh. Sometimes we were printing our masterpieces. Good old days ...2
-
So, settle an argument between me and my dad. My mom wants to start programming, and me and my father can't seem to agree which language would be easier to learn first, where there's no shortage for jobs. My father says Visual Basic or C#, while I say PHP or Java. What would you recommend?22

Changed home wifi password to "Don't ask me shit"
and my dad asked for the password for his new device
guess how it ended
😂🤣5 -
If you think walking on your parents while they're having sex is bad, hear(read) this:
Today I heard my mom asked my dad her email's password, and she's a doctor. Why and how can't you memorize your only password? I mean if she wasn't a doctor this situation would be more believable.9 -

Every time I think about how I at least had a dad till 10-11 years old, i think about my brother. How he had a dad until he was only 1, and by the time he turned 18 years old, when he could finally go see him, his dad was dead. And whenever the subject comes up its always "I didnt even know him bro. Why would I be upset?"
And it kills me inside he'll never know what it feels like to have a dad.
Sometimes I drink to stop thinking of shit like this.1 -
Dad's coworker (he was a software engineer, I guess it runs in the family) was selling his pentium 2 computer for 100$ and my dad bought it for me to play chicken invaders. Those were simpler times...1

Fucking spam
Useless pieces of shit
Targeting my dad, fools, he has me 🤡
I'm gonna flood you with fake emails and passwords
So much that you will stop spamming and then I'll continue a little bit, just to be safe
Fucking bastards1 -
Today, Google says it will now require new Android developers with personal accounts to test their app with a minimum of 20 people for at least 2 weeks prior to publication. I have my mum, my dad and my two brothers but Google wants at least 20 testers. Yo!11

I got into programming because I couldn't solve a maths problem I'd been set, so my dad found an emulator for an old language he used to use a bit and managed to brute force it.
From there I went and learnt my first programming language, an unconventional choice of BBC basic 😛 -
A little reflection on the relationship between me/my dad/computer:
When i was younger my dad showed and taught me how to work on his (10 - 15yrs+ old) laptop running windows xp. Soon we got a simple desktop pc (those ones that took nearly a minute to start). i remember my dad sayin something like "don't download anything cause (the pc will brake/it will be a virus/...)", I don't remember exactly ... but i know that i still did it (being fucking nervous😅) and it went well😌. later me and my little sister would go to "spielaffe.de" several times until getting some kind of "virus"😅😅.
Time passed and i got passionate about pc's (programming, trying Ubuntu, reading about internals of a pc,...). It didn't take long that i passed my dad's knowledge and so here i am studying CS😎.
In the end, regarding my dad:
first he was the master i looked up to, then he became the buddy i talked to and asked for problems, then ... he remained the light user who would like to return to his windows xp era and asks me first as his personal google when something happens out of his "comfort-zone"😅😌.
And sometimes i believe my dad is becoming incompetent for pc's😂😅 -
They think that this is a phase of my life and when I will become an adult I will leave that stupid things for a true job like medic. Thx for the support mom and dad! :')
-
My first ever dev project was a website I setup with my dad, it was for my uncle's company. 😃
You can barely call it a dev project because we did it in WordPress and the only thing we touched was a bit of HTML and a bunch of CSS 😅,
but it was really fun working together with my (programmer) dad and it motivated me to study programming as well.
The site turned out ugly as fuck, but the standards for websites are very low where my uncle is from so that wasn't a problem. 😊
I earned 90€ and bought myself a new mouse (Logitech G502), which I still use now 4/5 years later. 😎 -
My dad bought a 4k RokuTV and I set it up. We just spent the night using YouTube as the Travel Channel.
What else can I do that I can't do on PC/normal TV?2 -
I started in school and i thought it would be enough. My father convinced me to look into php and i inhaled it. Now, 12 years later, I am a self employed web dev and I teach web development. Thanks dad!1

My biggest data loss and also contributed in me getting into computer stuff was when dad formatted the computer before I was able to take a backup, felt so bad at that time it had all my photos from school with friends.
So instead of crying in the corner and me not knowing they can be brought back, at least half of them, I started learning how computers work, how software work, what type of software is out there ...etc. Though that brought more work for dad having to format my mess every month of so XD
But I ended up learning a lot of new things. Then one programming class at school sent me into the dev world2 -
My dad asks me to rip YouTube videos to DVD...even though I bought him a Roku.
I guess he likes having a contingency plan.2 -
my mom hates the fact that I sit in front of a computer in my spare time and isnt twopence interested in what I do
My dad tries to understand that I want to work in the field of games and that I make websites - but he also dislikes my computer behaviors..3 -
My dad was a young guy, and I like animation like young kid...
I found my dad's hentai porn on his computer. Sorry dad.2 -
My dad in 2002 to 7 year old me: "I got you your own domain, this is how you upload files to it. Good luck!"
But the first experience was him recording some of my first sentences. I love my dad <3 -
Yesterday I was a bad dad and couldn't wait for my box to shut down completely before I forced it and this morning it threw a little tantrum2

i was around 8, i saw my dad coding with VB3, I was fascinated. He taught a bit and showed me his project : A complete and very feature-heavy radar simulator, with lots of graphical elements and planez flying by. I was dumb struck. he even gave me a little project to do : A calculator. Thank you dad

Best way to start a new year? Force deleting all the malware my dad has somehow accumulated in his laptop...

=== Was in my room when the conversation started. Thought it was a joke until i heard a knock on my door ===
[Mom:] Hey Julie, i need you to top up my PC.
[Julie(My kid Sis):] You mean update?
[Mom:] No silly, upgrade! I already have a windows 7 pro and i have just bought the disk for Windows 8 and 10 pro.
[Julie(My kid Sis):] Which should i install first.
[Mom:] You can first install the windows 10 so i can have a windows 17 pro then install the 8 to sum it up.
[Dad:] Lol, holy cow. what are you ladies discussing over there? You wanna crash the PC i just bought?
[Julie(My kid Sis):] No dad, just tryna upgrade windows.
[Dad:] Got that already! Just make sure you first uninstall before install, then after installing all and you don't get a windows 25 pro-plus, just call Giddy he's in his room or return the disks back to the vendor and get a full refund!
[Me:] :/2 -
I think the linux live CDs with games on it, that my dad had compiled for me, were one of my first exposures to computers.
I remember how if you passed some specific argument, it would talk to you in a pretty sci-fi female voice too.2 -
It took my some time to explain my dad, why he should not use Notepad as PHP editor and start use something like Sublime Text 3...
I'm also teaching him PHP and JS.5 -
Just realized my family's night time routine...
-Mom dad: watch Chinese dramas on living room tv
-Younger brother: watch Chinese dramas on his PC upstairs
-Me: watch YouTube/Netflix or read webcomics on my phone in other living room
Are all families like this these days?22 -
Dad: I want you to marry a girl of my choice.
Son: No
Dad: The girl is Bill Gate's daughter.
Son: Then Ok.
Dad goes to Bill Gates.
Dad: I want your daughter to marry my son.
Bill Gates: No
Dad: My son is the CEO of the World Bank.
Bill Gates: Than ok
Dad goes to the President of the World Bank.
Dad: Appoint my son as the CEO of your bank.
President: No
Dad: He is the son-in-law of Bill Gates.
President: Then OK
That's business...!!2 -

My parents on the one side love my passion to programming (it’s actually because of my dad who introduced me to computers), but on the flip side they think that I should focus more on school - which is true, but you know... It’s hard to stop with something you like, isn’t it?
-
My family STILL doesn't know what I do to this day. I graduated 3 years ago and have been in the industry since. They think I'm a designer. 🙄 No, mom and dad. I CODE. 😂2
-
When you hear your mum and dad talking about traveling abroad and when i sneak to them, they say "we won't go, so go and study, my honey."
*cries*1 -
“You want to survive and steps ahead from the others when you grow up? Learn english” - my dad
I’m from wkwkland and holy fuck it’s true. -
My Dad wakes up at 4AM catches me in front of my Pentium 4 PC writing a scripting text editor and yells at me to shut down that crappy machine and go to sleep. 10 years ago🙄
-
found all my DDR1 that went missing recently
my dad stole it, put it in a RAM hardcase, then packed it in the back of his closet
he doesn't even have anything that accepts DDR1
what an asshole6 -
I learned to program with the joy of the command line and ASCII rocket ships printed and shell games on GWBasic. It was fat spiral bound manual my Dad gave me when he worked at EDS. My dad then tried to press me to leaning a program for calculating prime and perfect numbers. My dad sort of forgot I was only six and hadn't learned division yet.1
-
if it works with 6 common browsers it is definitely solely my fault if the site doesn't work with your niche product. thanks for the constructive input today of 'doesn't work' for this nine year old site containing photos of your grandchildren dad.

Microsoft: devs software blocking configurable by parents in Microsoft families.
Me: since I know this has to be coded in explorer.exe while it is running the desktop, LET'S JUST CLOSE THE DESKTOP AND OPEN A SOFTWARE THAT HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY MY DAD!5 -
My dad bought a computer when i was 6 or 7. Trying to launch games via ms-dos.
But we also had the “minitel” a french thing that connected you to a network. I played games on that too.1 -
I'm looking for a game recommendation to play with my (non-gamer) dad
What I'm looking for:
- Android
- Online 1vs1
- Turn based (async)
- Simple
- Free
- Lightweight if possible (my dad's phone is kind of old).
Something like checkers or chess but not checkers or chess :)8 -
My dad got me an old windows 98 (Still relatively new) with flight sim. I downloaded limewire to download limewire pro. I was surprised I got viruses on my pc, had to ask his colleague to fix it. Good ol' times
-
My dad used to make me draw things on Microsoft Paint when I was 4 to 6.
I'll never forget all those "firefighter helicopters" -
My dad has gotten some annoying viruses in his PC and I'm getting so mad at how slow his computer is and since I'm the techie at home... //ANNOYED SIGH
I shall do it. I shall get my dad's computer rid of this crap but it's so slow oh my god >:V5 -
I keep seeing all these awesome workspaces and computer setups and it just makes me hate that my dad won't let me use my work money (he has it in a savings account until I'm 18) to pay for the rest, of my computer rig I'm building, yet
I hate being a minor.5 -
Saw my dad doing some frontend work alongside the devils spawn work (PHP), when I was 8 years old. Ever since I've fallen in love with programming, especially in backend work.
-
I knew when my dad showed me gwbasic on a tandy 1000. Never did more than a high/low guessing game but not bad for a 7 year old. I so do not miss having to manually number lines.
-
What happens when downloading files is fast?
Downloading Files Flies
or Downloading Flies
It sounded better in my head. Now it is awkward. Do you feel awkward? Stop it dad, you are embarrassing me and yourself!
My job here is done.3 -
My dad cant memorize the 2 letter word "AI" and it hurts me deeply every time he tries to talk about that topic saying "Eye E" or "Ey A" and similar trash misspellings7
-
When I accompanied my Dad to buy a laptop. I listened to the conversation between him and the dealer an I was like "will I ever understand anything to do with pc specifications".
-
Commodore 64 and manuals when I was 5. Then qbasic on a 286 my dad got from work when I was 6. Been programming since, to Borland c/c++, php, html etc. Worked with most languages since.1
-
me: Mum, Dad I want to a developer like [my older brother's name]
mum: I don't know what you guys do anyway. just make sure to be the best at it.
dad: Good luck, don't forget to start your own company soon enough. -
I started programming in Basic. Years later I was in a shop and asked my dad to buy me a book "to create games". He bought me a Javascript introductory book. Never got after chapter 1, though years later I regretted it...
-
Probably my dad. He encouraged me to experiment with the computer really early. He got me a c++ book (I know, the best language to start :D) and we sat down in the evenings programming together.
-
first contact was with games. There are actually 2 events I connect with that, but I cant remember which one was first - so here you have both:
Both happened on the Computer from my dad - Windows 95 with Boost button - which of course was always active to make everything super fast :D (yeees, now I now that it actually made it 'slower')
1) Playing Lemmings from 2 Floppy’s (3.5inch 1.44bm)
Until my dad kept Disc 1 in his Jacket for whatever reason I cant remember (maybe because I played to much) and my mother had the great Idea of washing the jacket... bye bye lemmings :( never played it again since then, but still remember the music and soundefects. still love them :)
2) Trying to install AoE on the PC. But since HDDs where cheap (not) and had a ridiculously amount of space (not) (sth. ~250MB) and AoE needed ~150MB, my young and smart me came up with the amazing solution to delete the largest folder on disk, which was C:/WINDOWS. I do not have to mention that my dad was not amused ^^ -
I'm not really a developer... but my Mum and Dad did both say "You are managing servers and coding? You are a geographer? Not a computer Scientist?" xundefined wrong job wk18 python digital mapping shocked who knew you can do both gis consultant servers html css1

Spent an hour on the phone with my dad because I needed him to scan and email a PDF. Literally no idea how to use a scanner, he got incredibly agitated as we worked through it, but the fax machine? Well that device is just human ingenuity at its finest apparently because that's would've saved him this headache!
Dad I don't even own a fax machine you wouldn't be able to fax it to me anyways.2 -
Well my dad is pretty supportive and asks about it sometimes, my grandparents kinda the same. My mom pretends like she's listening, but mostly she's not. Most my friends don't really care that much either.
-
Mom: "This makes sense. You were always good with the computers."
Dad: "Can you help get my game working on my computer." -
Trying to create this app me and my dad talked about is the biggest project for me and lately it's been insanely stressful so what does everyone else do for stress management and app planning? I need help4
-
It was in the bakery of my dad, where we always could play this mini golf game on his IBM PC. I think it was on Win95.
-
I'm a terrible adult. I convinced my dad to pay for a $30 network switch for me so I can waste $60 on 3D printer bolts and supplies 😅😅 oof
At 23 I should be more responsible than this. Oops2 -

-
Since I have some equipment, time, and energy, I want to flesh out stuff in my homelab/homenet. What should I put into a VM to secure my home network, since it runs my website as well? My dad worries about his data being compromised.
-
It'd be pretty cool to do well enough in my career that I can buy my dad a garage and we can fuck about the rest of our lives doing up cars.
Also, if I could make some significant contribution to some OSS, that would be great. -
My dad used to code some software in Fortran, Basic and C, so he's proud and happy to be able to show me the work he has done in the past.
My mom thinks I'll be rich someday.
My brother and sister wants me to code some games.
My girlfriends wants me to teach her.3 -
I was in the first grade and my dad worked at the government as a budget officer. We didn't have a computer at that time, though. So, my Dad let me use his PC at his office. My first interaction with computers, started with just one program, Microsoft Word, which Dad used most of his documents.
What I did to immerse myself with computers for the first time as a first-grader was by typing my name in Times New Roman and printed it with my dad's printer. I was very impressed of how a computer can do at that time.
And that sole program was my starting point of my fascination with computers and how it motivated me to learn more about computers. -
Three days ago:
Found my eOS had crashed. Got on my dad's spare Dell Latitude (by God, the keyboard is awesome) and downloaded an image file for Ubuntu.
Fast Forward to today morning :
Apparently, my dad never did down either of his laptops, or even lock. The Latitude had a update but it then started reverting it. It went into a loop.
My dad: what did you do?! It was working perfectly before, you must have crashed it.
What the fuck dad... Thankfully, he got it up and running later.3 -
new Rant("cartoon ep2");
// family tech support
My dad asked for help. His External HDD got corrupted. When will they ever learn? I'm teaching him to use a cloud storage right now.1 -
Wondering if I should install adb and android dev drivers on my dad's laptop just so I can reflash and upgrade OpenGApps, LOS.
The locations services didn't seem to be working well, seems it may not be using the GPS,. just wifi...
I don't have all the backups, stock images I have at home either and not sure I want him to see me fucking up my phone...
Convo I had last time:
Me: Oh I bricked my phone again, for now you can reach me by email
Dad: wtf? Why?
Me: well it's complicated... Wasnt working and so I wanted to reflash and upgrade everything but ...
Dad: stop buying shitty phones
Me: ....3 -
My dad used to buy me science books for kids which came with a qBasic program.
I basically learned by trying to Lake them work and reading the qBasic documentation. -
My uncle is a dba so gets it, my dad sort of gets it because he also works in the transport sector, my mom doesn't Really understand but knows it's computers. Everyone else thinks it's it support
-
I am going to school for a BS in computer science and the other day my dad tagged me in a job for IT. Spent the next couple hours explaining what my job actually is.1
-
my dad who gave me his old pc when i was 10years and the desire to understand whats going on in this machine.
-
Aww Alexander why did you delete ur rant? Did you not want people to see my comment about how me and the boys run a train on your dad every two weeks? I mean I get it, it’s tough to see your dad in the hospital. But you got to let him know that moisturizing is REALLY important. Me and the boys are like gorillas, and we don’t have a safe word.20
-
I'm the tech support of my whole family. Grandmothers, mom, dad, uncles etc.
But every time my mom opens a facebook account, she calls me for gathering a new e-mail...
I am a friend of my moms 8 different facebook accounts. (probably she uses this account for games credits or like this)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
Dad used to say "now don't you go getting depressed" yet he was one of the most unhappy men alive and now I know why when my comparison against the world is a full trash can
-
My first exposure to computers was when I was about 5 at least that's what I remember. My dad and his friend built custom rigs for people in their spare time back then (late 90s) I remember playing some racing game. Other than that o eventual got one of their old computers and used it for a really long time, replacing it with a gateway until high school then hitting PC gaming and programming I built my first custom rig with my dad.
-
I discovered "view source", and took the rabbit hole from there... My dad is also in IT so that helped too.
-
Das: So you are studying Computer Science?
Me: Yes!
Dad: Can you repair my TV?
Me: No!
Dad: Who is studying the technical staff?2 -
[Tied to my latest rant]
My parents asking me to help them with their computers is the same thing as if I asked my mom to tour me on a country she doesn't know anything about or if I asked my dad to teach me how to pilot a plane (my mom is a tour guide and my dad a driving instructor. I believe the only thing he can't teach is actually how to pilot a plane :b): sometimes it takes too much time and effort and you can't do it. -
Dad woke his son up and said
"it's 7 am, wake up and get to work, you lazy shit" .
Son shouted "Don't worry , my service runs in Utc time zone"😂😂😂 -
My family was super chill about it. My dad just does his best to let me know I need to stop talking when I start talking "over his head".
-
Probably be an electrician with my dad. It's my fallback in case being a comp sci teacher doesn't work out.
-
Playing Day of Defeat on a pre built Windows computer with built in graphics that my dad got at a garage sale. I'd joyously play at medium settings 60fps all over again. Meeeeeeemories
-
Watching Minions which mentions av lot of the minions by names.... So far I've identified the names of a coworker, head of tech, a client and my dad...
-
First time I saw an IDE full of code, I was excited AF and wanted to become a programmer. Now when I showed my dad Xcode, he wasn’t excited at all. But he thinks I do some advanced tech stuff.
