A customer once wanted a button to sort a table column by name (alphabetically).
We told him, he just needed to click the column once.
The response:
C:"I still want that button!"
Just why...?7 -
I don't understand the phrase "once in a while".
If you execute something only “once“ then why you keep it in a “while“?10 -
"I want blah blah blah and I need it now! There's a commercial expression called TIME TO MARKET!"
And there's a programming expression called TIME TO DEVELOPMENT, you stupid brick.2 -

Got the iPod and music synchronisation isn't working well with Linux (I've synced quite some iProducts and it always goes great so this is a new one for me).
Bought a windows pc a few days ago and haven't installed Linux onto it yet so booted it up, installed Firefox and then downloaded iTunes.
Nearly done with installing when an error message pops up and the entire fucker blue-screens. Now it doesn't boot anymore 😡
Go die in a fucking corner, windows.10 -
Not my own bug, but at our sister company there is a PHP developer who almost gets fired twice a year, once when the clocks go forward and once when they go back again. He can't program dates well, or use stack overflow apparently.3

So working on the Android for work, and go to add in images for parts of the app. I add in images and load the app up and it crashes, I thought hmm maybe I missed something for the imageview.
The exception was an out of memory exception and from looks of it, it exceeded my phone memory by quite a bit (OnePlus 3 has 8gb LOL), I was stumped since I don't typically run into this.
Turns out this time around it wasn't my fault lol, I had some images outsourced to a company our company uses for doing design work and well Android doesn't like 2000 x 2000 super high quality for logos.
I mean sure it's good it's high quality but to have 3 images eat up a lot of memory (I assume my phone won't allocate all 8gb to one app lol).2 -
A 40 ish woman who works with economics said "you don' know anything about AI because you're only 16". I then proceeded to show her my shitty AI me and my friend made and explained how it worked. (It was really shit but would still consider it an AI)
She just stood there and was pretending to understand so when I was done explaining about it, I told her not to assume you're smarter than a 16 year old just because you're older and have read some article about AI on The Daily Mail.18 -
So Android phone makers have been lying about installing security patches for years. Hhhmmmm https://twitter.com/wired/status/...2

Taking care of your skin once a week, won't give you better skin.
Just like eating a healthy meal once a week, won't make you skinny.
Changes and improvements take time, effort, but most of all consistency.3 -
I don't get what people don't understand about how monthly bills work.
"But I already paid you once!"
"Yeah, for the work we did two months ago. This is the bill for the work we did last month."
"... But I already paid you once!"
"Yes, and then you asked us to do more work"
"... ... But I already paid you once! Why are you trying to rip me off!?!"
*sigh*1 -
We got a different programming teacher for today. He's shit. He can't even efficiently code a simple C# program that prints out three numbers as sorted ascendingly. WHAT THE FUCK12

Who remembers winamp? Well... We still use it in our bar once a year
Backstory: I help to organize a small openair festival once a year and to finance that we run (amongst other things) a bar once a year.
Music is still supplied by good old winamp! The nostalgia is strong.3 -
@$&#! Grrrr... FACEBOOK API SUCK, A FUCKING CATASTROPHE, TEN POUNDS OF SHIT IN A FIVE POUND BAG... !#&$@
That's it, thanks for listening, i'm out. 🙃5 -
The week where you have so much to do on different projects, that even if you manage to work on all od them a bit it feels like nothing has been accomplished.
The point of being so tired that even the mildest sickness feels rediculously awful.
And it's friday. I manged to do some work for one of my bosses but the work I want to do didn't really get done and now I have two meetings in which I can say I started doing xyz but couldn't finish it due to bugs and exhaustion. And for the other project I wrote documentation.
Well.
T_T4 -
Having to use Xcode 4 alongside the new 8 to support old iOS versions. I almost wrote the code twice, once in Swift and once in Obj-C.

Do not trust Unity Collab.
Been using unity collab as a VCS for months on a project, regularly saving the files, working well.
Today i decided to refactor some code but lost track of some things, so i reverted to a version i checked in 2h before.
Unity replaced my files with the stable build back then, except... half of the files were missing. of course no undo functionality.
months of work were simply not saved in collab. no version had these files, i did modify them regularly and they never caused collab issues.
how can a company not make the vcs they add for their main product work to its minimal requirements?!
Im not sure how i could motivate myself to fix this mess. fuck this trash company, cant have a single project without major issues.2 -
Once again, I have bitten off more than I can chew. Agreed and agreed on every side project that came along and now I have so many at once I can’t handle2

to space, or to tab,
that is the question,
whether tis nobler to suffer
the slings and arrows
of outrageous space bar use
pressing four or eight times,
or to take arms against a sea of
manual spaces by using
the tab key, and by apposing
space bar's end them. -
It feels like recruiters do not even bother taking a look at your cv, "the third page", your website and your gitlab projects.
Why is that?7 -
"Help" messages that are only shown once are not so helphul.
Some software and websites have help pop-ups and tooltips that are only displayed on the first use and then never again. There is no option to show it again.
That is a terrible idea, because the user might want to see it again as a reminder.
Showing something to the user only once means expecting the user to memorize it all at once.9 -
"In this API you need to pass the epoch in user's timezone."
WTF!! can this world be any worse...... how many epochs are there in this world?4 -
Team Leader, once again, wagered I was wrong on a technical thing
I, once again, accepted his wager
Team Leader, once again, lost the bet.
That's 3-0 now.2 -
Aaaand I did it again T_T
Installed knockd for some reason it wasn't working well, couldn't unlock the port and guess what, internet disconnected for five minutes ==> My SSH session closed and I am locked out of my VPS :')
What is even worse Scaleway doesn't have a root user password when creating the server it uses a pre-entered ssh key that I put in my account, so I was pretty much locked out.
But I was able to remove it, they have custom scripts for booting so I was able to fireup a shell session during boot and removed knockd
Either I fail at using Linux or I really need to work on my self lol2 -
I seriously love rsync. Whoever made that utility is my hero. Not only that its CLI client is amazing and full of features, but rsync in daemon mode makes secure file synchronization a breeze! <38

When you have a lot of work to do and don't want to come out of bed.
But once in awhile, you wake up early, bursting with energy and you think: "Today I'm going to fix every single line of code that looks like a pice of shit!" -

When applying for a new job, how do you tell the difference between somewhere that is really old fashioned but wants someone come in and make improvements to processes and coding standards... And somewhere that pretends to want those things, but actually has no intention of letting anyone make those changes?8 -
generally, the quality of code is inversely proportional to the number of public booleans
thing.IsThatTypeOfThing
thing.IsAVerySpecificTypeOfThatThing
thing.CanDoSomething
thing.EnableSomething
apparently that's where we're heading now :/ -
*le me being frustrated af trying to compile asm.
.section won't work for fasm. And some other things won't work for Nasm.
Now I got the .obj aka .o from the .asm. But ldrdf.exe from the nasm compiler isn't working properly. And I can't find a troubleshoot online. Seems like this will be a sleepless night...2 -
Thank you Ubuntu for proving once again to be a usless piece of shit. Isn't the fucking console supposed one of your strengths? Once again, from the deepest of my heart, FUCK YOU UBUNTU29

Holy fucking shit.
Can people not break my shit mid deploy once, fucking once is all I am asking. 2 weeks of this shit. -
I give a draft version of my report to my colleagues so they can review it with things to add or correct while I eat. One of them:
"This report is really well structured. I think there's nothing more to add. Good job!"
I think the finishing touch consisting of "[...]" here and there had him fall in love with it. -
I'm trying to stand up a docker container to read a storage queue with dotnet and invoke ffmpeg to convert some videos. For a whole day I fought with this wrapper (FFMpegCore) which kept throwing file not found errors on the ffmpeg binary itself. Locally (windows) it worked fine.
I spent a ton of time trying to install the Debian package, trying to add it to the path manually, trying to just use the wrapper just to generate the arguments I wanted (I'm not an ffmpeg pro, so the fluent API the wrapper has is super useful) and running it manually, nothing worked. Finally, I realized it wasn't getting to the part where I ran it manually: just using the fluent API to get the arguments was invoking ffmpeg and throwing.
I took away the wrapper completely, start ffmpeg manually and it works...
Ay carumba. Things just can't be easy.2 -
SOAP in PHP is hell of a shit. I thought of generating code for an easier php client. Oh boy there is a SoapClient::getFunctions, a SoapClient::getTypes and a classmap option. Maybe one can script a little bit to generate class files.
After some fiddling I noticed fields missing in the classes that are present in the response. The missing fields are always defined in a parent class definition.
Google gave me this:
https://bugs.php.net/bug.php/...
What the fuck? Please? So simple to fix and 10 years later. TEN YEARS!!! Nothing.3 -
I once was righting a C project for my professor, and I had a problem that I didn't know the solution, once I copied the script in the main into a function it worked perfectly.
And still have no idea of what happened.1 -
Whenever I feel like searching for a freelancing job in python, I feel like I don't know anything and stop contacting the person who wants to hopefully - since there are retards who don't pay - pay for it.
Fucking impostor syndrome.2 -
Couldn’t get my Mac start once I closed the lid.
Didn’t realise it goes sleep automatically once the power supply disconnected 😂9 -
Remember how u all got traumatized by tapping ctrl + s several times? More than once as if once wasnt enough? That same way now i got traumatized to `git pull --rebase` more than once before i create a new branch...7

We're moving our services to a new app interface, and it drives me crazy when a BA tells me to make something look like the old, terrible app because "user's won't like a change." You're making a whole new app! You can fix the terrible appearance and functionality issues! Take advantage of this!
It's starting to feel like I'm putting together an awful Frankenstein's Monster of code and components. -
Do you devs get sick often? In my previous workplace I was not sick once during my years there. But in this open office environment it occurs almost once every month.13

So it's a bank holiday today. Would be a shame if I crashed and you'd need to come in anyway...

Long live Ruby on Rails! It's so great once once you actually get what's happening. It's not "too much magic"if you understand what's happening under the hood9

I once had a dream where I talked to people in C and JavaScript. I used if statements in my brain to respond to people.
Such a weird thing to remember once I woke up. -
Once a week because I’m studying Web Development. Once a month because I’m a fulltime freelance designer.

Just got explicitly told to turn off any Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices in the usually generic pre-flight "Turn to flight mode" announcement 😂😂

I read a quote once, and I can't recall neither the exact words nor the author. Can anyone help?
The quote was something like this:
"A website is like a garden. You aren't done once you've planted. You need to maintain it continuously." -
What theme do you use?
1. Light
2. Dark
How often do you get a headache?
1. Once a month
2. Once a week
3. Once a day
What other factors do you think is causing you headaches?12 -
4 hours applying to freelance jobs once again, and once again not a single interest. Maybe I'm doing something wrong2

Can't believe I'm about to say this, but:
Systemd-container is a rather cool SysD extension.
It allows me (Root on most servers) to switch to a customer account in a completely new session, setting all the .profile and .bashrc stuff up, so I can do stuff like control their rootless docker, and no longer have to add my SSH key to their authorized_keys file then re-login under their user.
Nice.1 -
Camembert cheese in the fridge is great, but how can one survive without the stronger Nespresso capsules ;(

Omg click once applications are such a royal fucking pain in my ass.
Everything has to be code signed and every manifest much match and if you change anything you better hope to the gods you can use mage and resign that shit and that it will work
Can we just like, stop using it thank you god I hate it2 -
I was listening to my playlist for a while and then this question popped out of nowhere.
There is a playlist consisting of 10 different songs.
We press the shuffle button.
In the each step, a single random song is picked and played. Once the song is finished, it will be tagged out until each song has been played at least once.
Once each song has been played at least once, the playlist would reset and start the shuffling mechanism again.
Now my question is:
What is the probability of two songs (In shuffle mode) being played in the same order they are in the playlist?6 -
Once the initial pain is gone, once the blood has dried from under your nose, once blindness sets in.. that is when you truly see the transcendant quality that is ChatFuel.

On April the 30th the code awakened in me.
From all the overnighters, the pressure it was already as if my brain was a suitable host. Of course it would not compile the code or be any kind of real VM, but all the business logic, all the pesky details of this mutilated code had literally been branded into the biomass of my brain.
I did not know how I kept on going. Amber, caffeine, valerian did not really help. But I staggered from step to step to keep that project running that should never have been begun. -
Trying to add the loop function in my programming language, and for some reason it doesn't work, more specifically, it runs once and then stop, or it runs once and then trapped in a loop. So tired of this.2
