I just had to go through one after another so I would stop getting them.

Apparently, working from home means "you are available 24/7 right?" at my current workplace. I am grateful that I have a job, but I do not dig getting emails or my guys getting harassed after hours for things that would normally have to wait until the next day.

So I always start learning JS frameworks and end up getting confused by their syntax among other things. Do you guys know of any good websites to learn vanilla JS? My problem is that I probably don't know enough of vanilla and end up getting flustered.

Regarding my last rant:
I have all my 3 Raspberrys set up for seti@home now, reporting to twitter and my own "surveillance" system for them.
The system is still ugly, the code is ugly but that's getting improved next!

Getting super fed up of that one guy in the office who refuses to conform to the code style everyone else is using on the project.

It was so frustrating setting this one up. Lots of shouting in front of my monitors. But I think now I'm slowly getting somewhere with my first i3 setup.

Now to see if it will actually improve my workflow somehow.

Fucking incompetence

Senior level developer with 15 years of software development experience ...

ends up writing brute force search on a sorted data - when questioned he's like yeah well dataset is not that large so performance degradation will be marginal

He literally evades any particularly toil heavy task like fixing the unit test cases , or managing the builder node versions to latest ( python 2 to 3 ) because it's beneath him and would rather work on something flashy like microservice microfrontend etc. -- which he cannot implement anyway

Or will pick up something very straightforward like adding a if condition to a particular method just to stay relevant

And the management doesn't really care who does what so he ends up getting away with this

The junior guys end up taking up the butt load of crappy tasks which are beneath the senior guy

And sometimes those tasks are not really junioresque - so we end up missing deadlines and getting questioned as to why we are are not able to deliver.

Fuck this shit ... My cortisol shoots up whenever I think of him

Getting forced by a non dev for a timescale without even being allowed to look at the issue. Then being held to that made up deadline!!

I can't focus during the day, I don't have enough energy to do chores in the evening, I can't sleep during the night, and I can't wake up on time in the morning.

I guess it's a toss up between Salesforce APis and Cloudflare.

Both are straight forward and work within minutes of getting started, and both are well documented to the point, you only need a basic understanding of what you are doing or trying to manipulate to get it up and running.

Wrote a bot that would send a request to my phone where tasker would set the alarm, it was planned that my bot would automatically detect things like me turning off my pc and then setting a 9 or 10 hour wake up time incl. falling asleep and getting ready for bed, ended up using it to not open the clock app on my phone to set alarms

I moved about a month ago, the new place has crap curtains (yay for renting 😔) so I was waking up at 5-6am as the sun comes up 😞.

I bought blinds a couple of weeks ago, they've just arrived and all screwed on. I was waking up and getting bored so I started going out running before work. My last job I was the absolute last one in the building every day, yet also the closest. Now, with the running I'm getting in at about the same time but one of the first in my new job.

My new blinds are remote controlled/programmable. It's a bit sad but totally worth it, I'll be able to sleep in, have sunlight waking me up and still get to work at a sensible time, kinda just gives me more time in the day! 😁

-Fixed touchpad issue by installing drivers

My colleague was once writing a test which deletes a file. And due to some fuck-up all the files in the C drive started getting deleted. By the time we found out half the files went missing and most programs stopped working. Had to secretly patch everything back up with me to ensure that he finishes his work and IT or management doesn't find out.

There should be a developer licence so we could stop these stupid wannabes from getting into and ruining the industry with their shit work. We're so fed up maintaining these stupid codes the company previously outsourced somewhere on earth.

This will be my last project ever with WordPress. Seems like they added a site "customizer" (wysiwyg) which looks fancy and all, but after a few minutes configuring options the customizer starts lagging, fan starts getting louder, CPU & RAM go up so I do some profiling on that page:

Time spent getting to grips with your OS is usually time spent well. While you're not operations, it really helps being able to solve general problems yourself without calling support.

Oh, and: Set up a good bashrc, and put it on the servers you're working with.

I have 15k in unpaid invoices. 5k of which is over a year old. Everyone has contracts. Considering getting a job and just giving up the biz.

Went through a lot of GitHub repositories and other people's codes to try to understand how the "magic" happens. Slowly started getting a hang of it. Good thing being, I picked up good coding practices along the way

I am just tired of this at this point. I have been unemployed for over two months now. I have been constantly applying to every opportunity that I see within my limits. I've also reduced my salary expectations by significant margins.

I'd have understood if I was getting rejected after the initial screening / technical interview. But I am not even getting there.

Working on a project needing to integrate java, jquery, SQL, various aspects of Android unix manipulation i.e. rotation, gps, music players, etc..needs to successfully build and after getting finally getting all needed repository files, work in android studio then be converted into an apk, compressed sent to instuctor's device for seemless use...this group project included 6 individuals teamed up like avengers to complete...my team mates either dropped the class or with drew.fml with a hammer sideways.

I'm not sure why but I'm always super caught up on the aesthetic of my coding. Like the code editor has to have the right colors and format and I hate getting so stuck on inconsequential aspects of work.

Being a newbie is getting harder and harder. The later you start in a field, the more has already covered in that field, meaning you have to run as much more to catch up.

i was looking for a Junior Android Developer job before this coronavirus pop out of nowhere. now i'm just stuck in the house and the chances of getting a Remote job as a Junior developer is very very thin 😐😐😐. And honestly i'm fed up of learning new skills

Getting a new laptop is exhausting if you haven't been keeping up with the technology. I have purchased three laptops in the last two weeks returning the first two after spending 10 + hours each installing updates and software just to find out they didn't work for what I needed.

1. Finish my damn game engine.
2. Get my own company up and running with actual staff and funds.
3. Finish the game a friend and I are working on using said engine.
