Colleague: "Python is slow..too much slow."
Then I look at the code:
Eight nested for loops, inside two of them, two function calls and three list comprehension. That function has 2 nested loops and two "objects.all()" Django method, plus a list comprehension too..
Yep, Python is slow.20 -

After 4 months I've just realised that my internet is not running higher than 100mpbs because I bought a 100mbps Ethernet switch. -facepalm-6

Company grows a 30% and internet starts getting slow.
Solution from company: Block half of common websites8 -
There will always be that one person who ruins all the fun
PS: Speaking of JQuery, I really found it to be somewhat slow. Is it slow or am I doing something wrong?8 -
So called my ISP because of slow internet
Me : Hey , slow connection
Him : Could you open up CMD
Me : I'm on linux
then the dude hangs up :/ another guy called later , I guess the tech support needed tech support , FML1 -
I have to make this a separate rant.
It's been going on for months, and I don't have alternatives.
This.
This is what I pay 35€ per month for. Every evening it's like this. Usually it can't even load the speed test. Right now it can't even load the upload meter.
A big FUCK YOU to Vodafone in Berlin. Giant ass FUCK YOU, for just promises and appalling service.35 -
Just got my website hosting and domain bought ☺️ will upload tomorrow!
On a side note, slow cookers are the bomb. Made some excellent beef just now.4 -
Sometimes I feel really bad becouse i am incapable of coding faster.
I saw someone coding a prototype of pong in 5 minutes.
It took me 30 minutes just to make the constructor function of the paddles8 -
To those wondering what's it like to work in corporates and "HOW slow is it, really...?".
My corp project contract ended 1.5 months ago.
Today I got an email saying my access request has been finally approved and implemented.6 -
When you're trying to read a rant but your wifi is slow so you become frustrated and want to rant but you can't post the rant because of the god damn internet...3
-
When your app run smoothly, but your boss dislike it because "loading media content is too slow".
Then you explain him that those content are downloaded, so having a slow connection means that content will load slowly.
"So? Make internet faster, you're the dev"3 -
Mgmt: We need performance metrics' comparison for those 2 tests ASAP, we'll ping you every 5 minutes
AWS Cloudwatch: *unusually slow - takes ~2 minutes to add/remove a metric or change the timeframe*
Me: *fuck*
AWS Autologout: "Let me just intervene here right before you take that screenshot that took you 1.5 hours to filter out..."1 -
That's an impressive algorithm there, cdkeys. You found nothing in 2ms.
Well done.
Well.
Done.

Today I found out when a user logs in in this piece of crap: 59 calls to the api just to get user permissions 😤

When I was a young boy and I was writing my first programs, I remember I was sad because they were fast, unlike other applications I used daily and admired, with their long splash screens and the hard drive constantly making noise whenever you performed an action. At that time for me, 'slow' meant 'serious'.
It's fun to see how things have changed today: ensuring performance is a critical part of my job, and DAMMIT WHY HASN'T THE WEB PAGE LOADED YET?!?2 -
Forgot to push to stable branch before I left from work. Nightly build takes 5 hours so I needed to do that in order to get nightly in the morning. As I'm moving I have only cellphone with 16k internet at home. Sounded like I'm screwed. But luckily fetching few new commits and pushing them back to correct branch git managed even over this parody of internet connection. Love git, I'm saved. Whole repo has few hundred megs, if I had to download everything it would be faster to wait to get real internet connection in few days.1
-
Someone: How was your day?
Me: When your Net is soo slow that the error message shown for it loads slower. -
DigitalOcean's and Microsoft's Hacktoberfest done!

Fuck you Australian Fucking Internet!!
Yea sure i have fucking hours to sit here and fucking upload a 4GB repo to gitlab at 5kb/s!!! - yes the slow ass KILOBYTES, you overly expensive piece of horse shit.
fuck it, connects to phone and bam 1MB/s uploads, well theres goes a chunk of this month data :(7 -
This is so true!
Too many companies in the past years have been focusing on moving rendering to the client, and not optimizing their webpages that we lost sight of making efficient and fast websites.6 -
I work slow and my work is delayed all because you keep on changing the design and the UX, adding more features and yet keeping the same deadline

I have that friend who keeps telling me that he doesn't like java just because it's slow! (I hate this excuse).
Friend: look what java did to Android, it's because of java that iOS is faster tham Android.
Me: whaaat!! do you know that Android OS have nothing to do with java? it's C++ you...
Friend: No it's Java, we develop Android apps with java
Me: 🔫31 -
For the past month my phone has been unlocking really slow. I thought it was just software or the hardware starting to fail.
I finally decided to put my Professional Googling (read: Computer Science) degree to work and instantly found out it was because I had a slow 128gb SD card in it.
Removed it and everything is tip top now.1 -
Must nearly every recently-made piece of software be terrible?
Firefox runs terribly slowly on a four-core 1.6GHz processor when given eight (8) gigabytes of RAM. Discord's user interface is awfully slow and uses unnecessary animations. Google's stuff is just falling apart; a toaster notification regarding MRO stock was recently pushed such that some markup elements of this notification were visible in the notification, the download links which are generated by Google Drive have sometimes returned error 404, and Google's software is overall sluggish and somewhat unstable. Today, an Android phone failed to update the Google Drive application... and failed to return a meaningful error message. Comprehensive manuals appear to be increasingly often not provided. Microsoft began to digest Windows after Windows XP was released.
Laziness is not virtuous.
For all computer programs, a computer program should be written such that this computer program performs well on reasonably terrible hardware... and kept simple. The UNIX philosophy is woefully underappreciated.37 -
Those corperate slow laptops which has preinstalled software on it. Especially the antivirus which decides to take up all memory to take a scan on 08:00 when you start up.
Im really close to throwing this piece if shit through the window...6 -
Saw a question on SO asking why foreach was slow with big data.
The code provided was 6 nested foreachs (basically a cartesian product between an array of arrays, and 4 other arrays).
Inside, a select query and an "update or create" operation.
"But why is foreach so slow?"4 -
Took me 9 hours to write what ended up being a 10 line function to sort messages and replies in the proper order.
I at least knew it would employ recursion, but goddamn... 9 hours.
Fuck sakes7 -
Python sucks so hard!! Slow Interpreter, Broken Multithreading. It really sucks. Overrated language.10

Unbelievably slow connection. Wanted to do speed test so I can post with proof. The connection disconnected the moment I click the "Test speed" button.

TL/DR;
Worked as outsource where Scrum was misused. Please use it as a guide rather than law.
RANT;
Just remembered working as an outsourced programmer...
The Scrum master got us all... all of us... everyday... most people on Skype too... to update with our plans, issues etc.
So including the time trying to get everyone to sync up on Skype at around 9am, introductions, updates from EVERYONE... back and forth suggestions... I'd be starting near midday.
The task was related to making a tile based menu system that was populated with items from a backend... On paper, I only really needed to talk to the 1 artist and the 1 backend guy to understand the request / responses.
But even the art assets were arbitrary sizes... untileable... at the time they even had to be power of two too... My god, getting them changed was a nightmare...
In the end I was too slow for them.
Gladly.4 -
When you want to do a few test deploys (project going into alpha today) and your Internet is too slow to even login to the server 😭2

internet connection "speed" in Germany might be the reason why so many people still queuing up on the roads on their way to an office despite being allowed to work from home at least in theory10

Just realizing now that I've probably spent 60% of my programmer age (years of experience) waiting for dependencies to install and praying that the 9 kB/s connection I'm struggling with remains alive every single fucking time otherwise I have to start the wait all over. 😡😡😡8

Why is everything slow in windows even if I have a 16GB memory? Maybe because not SSD? 😑
Slow to open in windows:

Can someone explain to me why most design like apps are build in fucking electron. This is like the second time this week.
Me: *sees a super designy looking app*
Me: *Downloads and install*
Me: *Starts* * Slow startup*
Me: This has to be fucking electron again.
Me: *looks in resources folder* YES it is.
I'm not hating on electron. Its just that native apps are so much faster but way more ugly :P
BTW, apps were laverna and hyper5 -
Database queries are slow.... quick add more indexes.
Tomorrow: Hey, why are database writes slow?
Rise. Lather. Repeat next week. 😡 Indexes can’t fix this spaghetti SQL!1 -

"Yeah it's slow but it was _designed_ to be slow therefore it's no problem whatsoever"6 -
The clients website was so slow,
How slow was it?!
This site was so slow the goodle speed test timed out. -
Went to an old employer to drink coffee and talk about an opertunity. During nice talk he mentioned that he can see that I've had a rough time and got what slower. Maybe too slow to still do this kind of job / project. It's my freaking medication :(. It's a great employer and great boss. Really want to make it work.
It hits hard when someone that liked you a lot says that you became slower. Yes, I'm dead inside. Now hire me and let me fix that.
BTW, it's Java. I'm at least faster than the interpreter11 -
Stop whining about slow IDEs. If the IDE is running slow its because your shitbox computer is pissing it's pants. Get rich and buy decent hardware or use notepad and imagine the syntax highlight you cheap hook-nosed fuck. Fucking degenerate.8

Hello, I am new to DevRant!
I was fed up with Windows 10(broken search, start menu etc), hence I installed Ubuntu on one of my PC's.
Now the issue is that my Ubuntu System boots very slowly!
I have a Docker Container + Some apps in startup! It used to boot up very quickly IDK after a week of use it has gotten considerably slower!
Pls Halp!17 -
Having an app doesn't give you a free pass to have a website that works horribly on mobile.
I'm looking at you, Mint.1 -
Database is being slow AF again. Team lead is investigating. This is happening more often lately and affects both production and dev because everything is just in one gigantic database. So clients are calling support being angry about the speed they get and us devs get to twiddle our thumbs while waiting for our own data to load.8
-
The f in "python" stands for fast
Sorry but i literally have nothing better to post. Maybe i shouldnt post something from begin with in that case... But idk.7 -
Don't complete the task within estimates : You're slow.
Complete it before estimates: Your estimates suck!2 -
Damn... I like VS Code and at the same time I fucking hate how slow this garbage "editor" has become.
Can I haz rewrite in Rust? 🥺9 -
Everyone here who complains about slow Android studio obviously never tried to compile LLVM/Clang from source.3
-
Seriously I think the Slack apps are really among the worst I have ever had to use. That is both on mobile (iOS) and desktop (Mac). It’s super slow thanks to Electron Desktop and super buggy on mobile. Connection Speed is really slow as well.
I just hate it.8 -
I seriously think my Laptop is slower than me when it comes to switching between workspaces and applications.
-
Can we please stop making everything in javascript? Pretty please?
Like, I get it, js makes it easier to find developers and speeds up development, but writing a compiler to run on node? That doesn't make any sense to me. Typescript is taking ~11s to compile a medium-sized project, out of which ~9s are just type-checking (if I disable type-checking it takes ~2s to compile). Even Rust, which is considered to have a slow compiler (because of the borrow checker I assume) takes less time to compile a project of roughly the same size.
This is getting very irritating. If I want to keep type-checking, every single time I make a change on a single file I have to wait 11s before any tests start running. This was heavily affecting my productivity (and sanity), so I decided to disable type-checking and threw out the window 90% of Typescript's advantages.
Why the hell wasn't typescript written in an actually performant language? Just so you could say that typescript is written in itself? I don't get it, I really don't.14 -
What do you guys do on low work days? both in terms of
a) Low energy = low work production
b) Low work required of you/slow work day10 -
U guys know anyone who would ask "Can I turn off this power switch?" AFTER they already turned it off? My mother did that. On a PC that was in the middle of a large file upload over a ridiculously slow internet...1

I really don't understand why my company is so slow when it comes to change. We have a very small engineering team (<100 people), but it takes MONTHS to get anything done. They have spent the last 4-6 months getting FontAwesome Pro into the platform, been taking 8 months to get engineering levels out the door, and we've been lagging on choosing between React or Angular as our upgrade from AngularJS (yes it is the old one) for a year.
Is this normal? I am on the FE and don't know much about our dependencies, but it should not take this long to make a simple decision. The whole migration process will take time, but be decisive for Jesus' sake.2 -
This is the first time I've been on a project with a developer that is incredibly slow. Almost an entire month has passed, and this particular developer is still working on a story. In fact, it's the only story the devs picked up.
I work for a consulting organisation, and this particular developer and I are the only ones engaged on this project.
I am also the senior developer. I have tried numerous times to help speed things up by suggesting if there are blockers to hit me up so we can get it resolved.
At this point, I'm not entirely sure what to do. Should I report this back to the company I work for, or should I shut my mouth and say nothing because it isn't my problem?3 -
What did you do the last 20 minutes?
I watched the timer on my browser slowly tick down as it downloads 550mb over a flimsy school wifi connection in the hopes that my constant watching helps it not time out or crash.2 -
Ran speedtest on my phone and got about 20mbps dl/ul speed. Opened facebook app and pictures are not even loading. Wut.2

!rant
I love gitlab but what's up with merge requests taking forever.
I'm not the waiting kind. Smash a keyboard or something.3 -
Back in the day, our computer at home was very slow and sometimes hangs. My siblings have always seen me kicking it out of frustration. Thank goodness for these fast computers these days. I think I am not that violent anymore.

the internet is only good enough for devRant and I have no games on my phone. After a time there aren't rants to read anymore. 😂1

Spotify app is so full of shit. Everything is so slow, downloaded songs still load slow if there is no internet connection, the ui is atrocious. It's so bad I found myself unconsciously switching to using youtube more and more despite it requiring me to keep the screen alive.17

Demoing our product at the customer's site by remoting into one of our internal environments. Their internet is slow so product looks slow.
Project manager after the demo: hey, next time, think of yourself as the tech lead, not just the software lead. Next time hop into the command prompt and do whatever you guys do, check the bandwidth or something.
Me biting my tongue: so I can tell you the customer's internet is too slow?1 -
So it turns out that a lot of writes to S3 is slow, regardless of whether you spent the time to rewrite your code from SAX to JAXB, then Go, then finally C++, thinking the problem was always with your code.
-
Was wondering why my builds/tests were taking so long. OH HEY THERE KASPERSKY WHY YOU TAKING UP 80% OF MY RESOURCES?!!
Just fuck this pile of shit. Cant it do a low intensity scan without completely blocking me from doing any work?!2 -
It's really annoying when you're watching a tutorial video and the person speaks much faster than he can type.
1.5x speed and the guy manages to type a single line of <p> tag and has like spoken 30000 sentences. -
After 20 mins, the system is just sitting there idle doing nothing but data transfer.
Is this a common problem with manjaro? Unbelievably slow data transfer -
That moment when you build your app around a clients development API only to find out their production API responds about 8x slower... I'm sorry, it's not my fault your API server takes 4000 ms for a SIMPLE response. My app isn't the problem. Fix your shit.1
-
When I have to hold CTRL + Z to see what I changed I then imagine myself coding really fast when I then hold CTRL + Y. It makes me feel productive.1
-
Trying to switch from 2 finger bird-view typing to 10 finger no-view. Fuck this is hard! I'm just veeery slowly getting used to it, although I tend to fall back automatically when I don't focus on it and just want to type in a few characters.
I keep doing several typos and often forget where a key was exactly or confuse the position of some character, even though I typed it fairly often before. Also typing any number or non-alphabetic letter is mostly a wild guess of finger position.
Either I'm a very slow learner or smth's wrong.😪5 -
What os to put on a slow 1.1 ghz dual core 4gb ram netbook?
Would like to use it for ad hoc coding, browsing, git and stuff again, but it performs horribly with Windows, Ubuntu, SuSe or elementary..
Preferably linux.10 -
Laravel being easy to use is far from a strong point. "Easy to use" is a cool thing for pro developers who know what's going on under the hood and don't wanna write the same thing a hundred times.
It should translate into good developers being able to work immediately, not in bad developers getting away with whatever without getting even a slight warning just because the framework itself accepts whatever weird crap you can come up with while you're training.
But that's what it became: a free for all for every noob out there. You find yourself working with a slow application (and by "slow" I mean "slow even by Laravel's standards", which are fairly low), and as soon as you look what's going on you find someone decided to load a hundred thousand middlewares, queries optimized like ass on top of Eloquent, and the whole application breaks as soon as you just run config:cache to try speeding it up a little bit, because env-ing your way out of whatever problem is so quick. Easy to use needs to be there for pro developers; give such a tool to a newbie, you end up with a maintenance nightmare3 -
Dear Microsoft, you are the one who created VS Code, Typescript. How could you possibly screw these things up? VS Code intellisense is terribly slow while working with Typescript but works so well when working with flutter/dart or any other programming languages. Shouldn't you be the one doing the best? Shouldn't you be doing a better job at something that you created? How could you mess it up??8
-
Fuck you Microsoft for adding so many unnecessary fetures that nobody Needs/wants to use and which also slow down my pc.
I am specifically talking About that sily history-feature which is present for a few months now.
Guess what? I don't need it! Why? BECAUSE I DON'T USE EDGE SO THERE IS NO HISTORY TO LOAD. I DON'T USE (NEITHER I WAN'T TO) YOUR SLOW PHOTOS APP TO SEE IT IN THE WINDOWS HISTORY. I DON'TUSE ANY OF YOOUR SILLY INBUILT UWP APPS.
Since the update which added this feature, my pc is like 2 times slower, because it loads the whole last-5 months history.
Hey, thank you for nothing!1 -
I feel bad for ranting about this.
So I just came out of a projects where a teammate was really slow. It's not that they weren't trying, like I was sitting across from them and can see them working. But seriously fing donkey balls, SO SLOW and subpar, it wasn't slow and steady to win the race, it was slow and steady to just barely pass.
Like we had two weeks for this project, we've had all of the planning done, now on the last 4 days it was just finishing up the implementation. And everything to come out of this person would take ages, slow everyone else done, and would need to be redone by someone else.
I really do feel bad for hating, cuz this person is doing there best and it's just not good enough. They listen, pay attention, but it's like they can't improve.
It just sucks... Because their ambition and effort is not being paid off and is pulling us down...3 -
Sometimes, "a different error, yes progress" is an illusion. It's like pushing a car that has broken down up a hill, after you finally reach the top, it starts rolling down nicely, only to meet another larger hill on the other side.3
-
When you write an efficient piece of code and because the legacy database is too slow to return the data, you have to find a way to delay your processing instead of finding a way to speed up the database web service.1
-
If I would have gotten my last feature request as a part of the (barley existent) specifications i wouldn't have needed more than one week to do it. At least no one is complaining about me being slow.
-
My employer really needs to invest in better machines.
My VM is still running a Windows Update that has taken 50 minutes already.
Fucking 50 minutes in which I couldn't do a fucking thing.
Either the windows update is a huge update but my guess is that I'm on a slow as fuck hard drive that gets virtualized with about 3 other vms
(we use remotedesktop to access the vms that run on the server)2 -
God I hate slow burn in projects.
Trying to do something with a feature that's still in beta for the language. No docs so I asked for this.
Seems like a cycle of days where I'd be trying random ass solutions to no avail when suddenly one time I mistype the Google search and it brings me to this obscure ass blog with a potential solution that raises some new issue all over again.
It's been modification/addition/removal of over 10000 lines in different local branches and commits and only 200 of them actually are going to make it into the final code.1 -
Wait, so pressing a key on a modern system and it showing up on screen is slower than it was back in the 70s and 80s because the ratio of transistors to clock speed is worse?
https://danluu.com/keyboard-latency... -
Ok, so I'm a student and in my free time, I mostly write a bit of python, C++ and a bit Haskell for fun...
I wanted to try out Android development now...
HOLY FUCKETY FUCK, THIS SHIT TAKES TIME!
most of the time, I get an idea, open vscode and start typing (maybe install some modules for like 10 minutes), not with this: Android studio took hours to download with all the needed SDKs and libraries, then I created a new empty(!) Activity, then fucking Gradle needs hours to get it fucking ready... On a fucking XPS 13 9370!
How do you guys cope with that waiting, does it scale that way to bigger projects?
I would call myself rather patient, but if I have an idea, I don't want to set up the most basic environment for 3 hours...
Man that shit is bulky...4 -
I have to deploy our software onto multiple raspberry pi so I started cloning an SD card with DD....devRant time I guess

120fps and 240fps filming isn't just for slow motion playback, but recent smartphones have 120 Hz screens so those videos can finally be watched as ultra-smooth motion with audio.
If only all smartphones encoded high-framerate videos in real-time with the same framerate recorded from the image sensor instead of stupidly slowing down when encoding.
Granted, this is a thing Apple has always done right: they encoded their "slow motion" videos in real-time and let the user select the slowed-down portions during playback!
Let the user set their preferred playback speed in the video editor, don't dictate that 1× playback speed is 1/4 of real-life speed. 1× playback speed must be 1× real-life speed to clear up all confusion.
Besides, laptops with 120 Hz screens existed as early as 2011 (Samsung 700G7A)!. -
I'm trying to waste time reading rants, but don't get half of them because our work wifi network is too slow to load pictures
fml1 -
Seriously, screw whoever at Apple decided to make my Mac not have upgrade-able RAM. Late 2015 8GB slow Mac is slow.13
-
Since the last update of the company antivirus some things became terribly slow, like IE dev tools, they are standard slow, but now they ere horribly slow, copying a 500MB file over the network to my pc now takes 10 minutes and the worst part is git. Git is unusably slow so i can't use git-tfs anymore and have to use standard TFS again.
And whenever all of this is happening there is always the same thing on the top spot of CPU usage 'trend micro unauthorized change prevention service'.
Oh how I hate that antivirus crap -
Does anyone else code really slow? I spent an entire day Friday working on one DAO (and one small help desk ticket). Nothing complicated, and I knew what I was doing the entire time. At the end of the day, I just felt like I could have written it faster, or got more done. And I was really focused on it the entire day.3
-
I'd like to share this article i found on reddit with you :
http://tonsky.me/blog/...
It's about bloated sowftware and performances on modern hardware, I mostly agree with it. What are your thoughts ?3 -
i feel like all the automated things, supposed to make development easier, just severely slow everything down3

I just saw this video on slow loris attacks (https://youtu.be/XiFkyR35v2Y).

Seriously wondering why i bought a cheap slow ass laptop for school when i end up doing most of my homework at home anyway.
Android studio runs so fucking slow on it compared to my tower and i cant get this fucking camera assignment to fucking work AAAAAAAAAAAH2 -

Is it slow ?
taliking about unit tests. I have 2746 unit tests in a project (Covering around 15% of code).
It takes around 2 minutes in local (With good PC) and aroubnd 20 minutes in a pipeline to execute.
Would you people say it's slow ?9 -
What causes a mobile app UI to run slow or laggy? and Can a framework cause an app UI to run slow or Laggy?4

Docker is building my scripts to slow. On windows script building is flying, but on Docker(which runs Linux) is slow as hell.7

So I just installed Elementary OS Loki on my older desktop and for that the wifi is incredibly slow, like 30 seconds to load googles home page. It also randomly stops working, and gives a no network connection. When this system was on windows I would average 50~ mb/s down speed, changing it to Linux I'm lucky to maintain 2mb/s. I've been googling for hours and nothing I try seems to work, any Linux pros here able to give me some suggestions. The network card in the PC is an Aetheros one, I it supports a,b,g,n and Bluetooth, I'm currently using the desktop with a Bluetooth mouse / kbd. (None of the hardware/setup has changed since using windows)2

I'm at work. It's been slow recently because our clients don't know what they want.
I just realised there's an itsy bitsy spider on my desk. Or more precisely, on my workstation.
A 2mm-or-so little spider, making a web between my screen and my laptop.
I'll feel bad when I'll be leaving and having to break its web...6 -
Bad perf is fine, our users are old and used to slow software.
BUT FUCKING WHY ARE YOU PAYING MY FIRM TONS OF MONEY TO REWRITE IF ITS TO BE JUST AS SLOW?!?!?! -
I love ruby, except the official implementation is super slow and bad at multi threading. But that's where Jruby comes in :)
(Still relatively slow though :( ) -
yesterday i worked a bit on my sites, checked again today to find them slow af. checked for flaws and recursions, did not find any. google page speed insights were totally fine. then i tried with my mobile connection and it was really fast. wtf vodafone?!

Is it just me, or are Laravel model queries super slow, especially when you're loading relationships?8

In my current role, it takes 10 min to build and test a backend change. Front-end dev server is also painfully slow. It sometimes takes minutes for angular dev server to upload changes.
What am I supposed to do during these scattered idle time. Everything seems painfully slow1 -
bitbucket you slow fucking sack of shit, we've confirmed with our remote team members that other people on other networks have it slow as shit too
I really wish we could convince our team to migrate to gitlab or github instead
can't tell if it failed to find the pull request associated with certain commits because it's slow a shit, shit (because it's atlassian bitbucket) or both
there is the small chance that maybe it's just the shit telecom industry in this country too on top of it, but things were acceptable before -
How can Lenovo produce such a shitfest as this ideapad laptop. I lack the swear words to describe in how many ways it sucks. Looks nice from the outside, light. But even after deinstalling all Lenovo crap ware and McAffee, reinstalling Windows it was still so slow that I wished I still had my Win 3.11 on that 66 MHz (+33MHz Turbo Button)! All this waiting if you start an application or open a browser tab - it let's you hate computers, want to punch that piece of Pferdeäpfelsmoothie.1

Am I the only one having trouble with kde archives today? Either it does not work at all, or it is slow af.

So I installed Manjaro KDE yesterday.
The one thing that's bugging me is that Pacman seems to have very slow speed. I am not able to hit above 100Kbps.
Is there a specific reason for this?
I searched ol but couldn't find any answers4 -
So when windows cannot open a png with its standard image viewer without a file system error and while running sfc/scannow a bsod appears, maybe this old tablet shouldn't be used anymore, which already runs slow as hell...1

I need help trying to explain to my boss. Iframes are going to load slow no matter what. Then he shows a page where a iframe loads pretty. decently well. He fucking doesn't understand that even a blank iframe can slow everything.

Accidentally started mkfs.ntfs without --fast.
Is there a way to kill a program without waiting for writes to finish?6 -
If I would be a network administrator , I would troll everyone by creating 2 networks, one called x-fast and another called x-slow. Obviously I would reverse them so the one called slow is actually fast, and the fast one is slow. So I can benefit myself from a private network with no one on it because it's "slow" :-)
Evil me or genius?1 -
GameSparks. Flaky, slow, unreliable, overpriced, uses an antiquated JavaScript interpreter (Rhino), no real modules, a f'ing nightmare.

Guys, is Akonadi server needed in KDE? It makes KDE startup so slow, that even Windows starts faster! There are some other processes that slow startup, but I hadn't found them yet
Can akonadi server be started after DE start is completed?
