These guys were studying for a Java exam...from PRINTED OUT PHONE PICTURES OF CODE ON THEIR SCREENS29

So, my broadband internet is not working. Naturally, i called my ISP and complained.
He enlightened me, "Turn on your TV and watch the news. Theres a deadly computer virus on the loose and it is affecting banks and businesses and everything. So we decided to help our customers by turning our services down for a few days."
What the actual fuck?
Its like to Not eat anything due to a bird flu.
Oh! and i have an exam tomorrow.
Thank you muggles.17 -
> had an exam with a friend

Happened during an exam!
Had a viva session after the exam
Examiner: how much do you know about Linux
Me: (pulls out phone and shows him the kernel I have been working on)
Examiner (to other teacher): give him full marks already11 -
Professor at Uni: "Missing a semicolon on yozr final exam could be a reason to fail that exam. Coding on paper is much better because that is what you will be doing on the job. "
Hate those written Java exams on paper.18 -
Signed up for an Android course at my uni and expected to have some fun with Android Studio and modern app development technologies...
Turns out that we're working with Blockly (no coding). We will write our exam with Blockly. The course is mandatory and I cannot opt out.
I've been a dev since 7 years and I am dead inside already.13 -
My recent failure to build a responsive website according to a template tells me I should have worked with CSS a bit more.
The thing is, I write the type of CSS that passes the CSS validation with flying colors, but doesn't work as it should. Am I a minority(I hate that word), in that?
Now I have to redo the website or I'm not passing the exam. Lovely.5 -
*has a 94% in information security class*
*teacher gives us study guide for final exam*
*heavily take notes in the margins and study the packet obsessively for four days*
*come in to take the final*
*exam doesn't mention a single thing on the study guide*
*makes a 78 on it*
*final class grade drops down to an 87% (a letter grade lower than before)*
"Congratulations, Miss Meowijuanas! You had the highest score on the final!"
*hands me a candy bar like I'm a child*
"Maybe it's because you gave the class an extremely poor study guide which emphasized on material that wasn't covered on our actual exam? You shouldn't be congratulating me on a 78."
*teacher says he used the study guide from another teacher and must not have looked at it thoroughly enough*
*shakes hand and thanks him for having me as a student this semester*
*kicks a trash bin outside of the university 6 or 7 times*
I'm not even mad about my grade. An 87% is nice, although I know I would've done better otherwise. It's his pure, unmasked and unashamed laziness that makes me feel so violent. It's showing students like me that an educated individual like yourself couldn't be bothered to take five minutes or so to read over a fucking document for his students to make sure they're properly prepared for a major exam.
How the fuck can you be hired as a university professor and be this obvious about not putting effort into your work.
Fuck you, sir.
And fuck you again for all of my other classmates who did poorly because they followed your inaccurate study guide.13 -
I wrote an answer, in my exam, about the precedence of operators.
Took a random example: "3+4*6", and explained that "*" has higher precedence, so "4*6" would be executed first and so on.
Long story short, this was the last line in my answer:
"The answer is 27, not 42."20 -
I have the habit of immediately closing parentheses after opening them, then insert the code.
The problem is, this applies to hand writing as well. Because you cannot move characters in a hand written exam I spend half of the time writing, then removing parentheses.

##REAL STORY##
Friend: Hey there, I have a Java Exam after one hour and I have a question for you.
Me: Great ! How can I help
F: They will give us a problem and ask us to solve it by writing a Java code.
Me: Okay,
F: That's it.
Me: Good, so were's the question.
F: Come on, of course I want to know how to solve it.
Me: Absolute Silence.
Me: friendsList.removeAll();10 -
A fresh graduate software engineer applied to the company and passed the coding exam.
Manager: Wow you got a very high score. Good job.
Applicant: Thank you sir. So am I hired?
Manager: Yes of course. You will be the team lead for one of the project.
Applicant: Wait wut????8 -
Dear Prof,
One does not simply encrypt the exam tips and give it to the students in a computer security introductory module.
Sincerely,
Disgruntled Undergraduate5 -
Interviewer:
Here is a pen and paper. Now code in front of me your answer from the preliminary exam.5 -
Some dude in my university used Squarespace to make a webstore, presented it as his final exam in Web developement and passed with flying colors.
They didn't even look up the code or anything, just gave him max score and that's it. I hate my school...
Edit: a friend just told me that the guy didn't even made the site. He paid someone else to do it.
I honestly don't know what makes me more sad14 -
This is my first post. Had an exam in php, xampp wasnt working, assistant came and said i dont know to configure codeigniter, after 30mins of calling he came, tried and sad "well this isn't working". He then called administrator to reinstall xampp. I lost more than half of exam time. I didnt finish it in time, he said that i could do it in a less time by his opinion. It was full working php site with crud and customer view. When xampp started working i had 1h to do it all. After some time and arguing i got a a new date to do it. It is tommorow. Help me god hahhah.11

Useless, deprecated technology questions? Check.
Memorising fucking docummentation by heart? Check.
Term translations from english that make literally 0 fucking sense? Check.
I'm so fucking done with this shit. Uni isn't teaching people anything, it's fucking degrading them, so that when you get a job, you have to start learning from -9001 instead of fucking 0.6 -

I took a civil service exam October last year, the list of passers where posted in the government website last December. My name wasn't on the list. I was heart broken. :'(
I wasn't able to apply for the job I wanted. I thought that I'm so stupid I can't even pass an exam.
I was depressed for almost a month.
Then yesterday, a friend of mine was searching google since I refuse to tell her my middle name.
Suddenly she exclaimed, wow! you're a civil service exam passer!
I was shocked beyond belief!
I checked the website, my name is still not there. HAHA. (deep inside it hurts)
I cursed my friend for trolling me but she swear that it's true. She sent me the link and BOOM! my name is on the list of APRIL passers!
WHAT THE HECK???
i just verified through phone that I actually passed and that it was an error on their website that included me on the wrong list. I don't know whether to be angry or pleased. lol XDundefined error404 name not found oops it's there...wrong error. i passed oh my gosh after 6 months good news8 -
So my classmate just decided to write "printf("Suck my balls I dont remember how to do this);" in a programming exam and forgot to delete it before handing it in.
Well... after saying "sorry" like a hundred times the teacher accepted his apology.8 -
When you do everything in a school project(c#) and fail the exam because your asshole friend didn't do anything, because he "doesn't understand", yet he passes the exam (c#).
Bastard.5 -
Just because our classes are online now doesn't mean you should make your exam literally 5x harder than the in class one was you fucking bow tie wearing penis head looking cunt.
There's a literal global pandemic going on for fuck sakes. It's not like we asked to have it online fucking jackass.2 -
Our school like:

We: Holy Moly Crap! Really? why?
School: because...because...because...fuck off! we dont know...but it stands on the fucking exam so shut the fuck up u little crap!11 -
“There’s too many Firefox quantum rants...”
Lemme let you in on a little secret:
It’s nothing new, get over it.
Apple released a new phone.
Windows updated.
Samsung or Google releases a phone.
Exam time.
Do any of you see a common theme? It’s the same people posting three metric fuck tons of posts about recent news. Wow, a tech person sharing tech news, imagine that. It’s just a phase, we all notice it. It’ll go away. Thanks. Have a nice day.13 -
Met a student who has failed and appearing for re-exam.
Me: You need to work hard to get distinction (~85%).
He: Who wants distinction? I just need passing marks (35). Marks doesn't matter, knowledge does.
Me: Student who strives for more knowledge will surely get distinction.
He: 🤔8 -
Does anyone else ever feel like they're too stupid to be a good programmer? Like some of the people here are very very intelligent. Meanwhile, I'm over here making a fucking 8% on a calculus exam. I just feel like I'm way too stupid to actually be good at this.19
-
Started watching silicon Valley. HELL, THE BEST TECH SERIES EVER.don't know why i always end up watching long multi-season series in my exam days xD
Anyways what would you guys choose for your million dollar idea: sell it at $10 million, or build a company out of it? I will definitely sell.14 -
Introduction to graphics
Lecturer says "this is a very practical course. In fact I think we should have a practical exam"
All students agree. He would sort out that matter.
Meanwhile he taught us how to making shapes in java, then a house, then a game...
And the exam was for us to make a building where a user can walk through the building using the arrow keys...
What fun we had. We got out marks...and everybody did well!!!!1 -

Boss set me up for a last minute certification to prepare for next years new projects. Went through a lot of material in just two days, then had to take the exam immediately after the last class ahead of everyone else. Aced it!^^
What surprised me the most though is how much I still enjoy learning new stuff (wasn't even tech), even after 8 yrs on the job..4 -
I think I want to fucking cry...
Continuing on my previous rants, for the final exam I may or may not have to use Dev-C++ as IDE. Took a look at cplusplus.com, at an article from *2011*:
"Dev-C++ hasn't been updated since 2005."
I fucking swear, someone needs to nuke that school...10 -
Having a 24 hour programming exam today beginning at 9 am, so I decided to go to bed at 12 so I would get 8 hours of sleep and 1 hour to get ready.
Now I've not been able to sleep for the last 3 hours and my great master plan is ruined 🙃8 -
I've been guessing all regex's in my past projects... If I'd be in a regex written exam, I'd be a goner.

School sucks.
Paying quiet a lot of money(not having that much) to a private school that used to impress me two years ago.
Now I can see all the hidden crap:
- Project work is graded after written lines
- "Do this project with scrum" Got two hours in the room with scrum board in a whole semester
- Exams are pushed if the teacher is to lazy to deal with bad results. A 3 ( or C ) became best grade.
- They could not find a teacher for OS & Networks. So instead of 1 semester Server architecture we got 5 days.. 1 of them for exam (exam = final grade)
- Guy took part with us during the 5 days. "How did you do that?!? Doesn't work on my PC I think" - half year later he is the new Network teacher
- Surpassingly he sucks at that, being half a week ahead of his lessons by googling shit together. Can't answer a single question beyond that..
Once he created a multiple choice exam. Questions in a word document online, answers on paper. Not just that he never blocked the internet during the exam, he also publicly uploaded the document a week ahead. Securing it with a 5 letter password... Somehow we all passed that one with a pretty good average.
Besides there a some teachers who are actually really good.3 -
Hello everyone! First rant, didn't know what to post about for the longest time, but have this thing. We were allowed to take some notes into our programming exam. This happened somehow. If you start writing really fucking tiny, then notice there's a bunch of free space left, then in the actual exam end up using it once or twice max. Anyway, hi!11

Today we had our "web technology" University exam. One question was to write a sample html program for our university's website.
I swear I could've built a fully functioning website on MVC and hosted it on some cloud service in far less time than that I spent scribbling 5 pages of writing HTML/CSS/JS so that I can "pass the exam". But nooooo. Our university syllabus takes IE and Java servlets as standard and apparently you get bonus marks if you could implement IE's Active-X on paper.
So much for the future web development4 -
After hard learning for a while I've passed Microsoft's C# exam.
And they just gave me this. Shit. Only. No certificate.14 -
Got a math exam tomorrow but learning about it-security and pen-testing is a lot more interesting.
Building a remote for the projectors in your school can also be a source of fun :P2 -
Fucked!
I have got my cyber security exam tomorrow morning and i just got a call from a client to make some urgent changes to his site.
To add to it, i already wasted around half an hour becoz GoDaddy Plex somehow decided to block my own IP in the firewall.
And now I am on devRant.
Crap. I am fucked!4 -
Just watched Snowden
to check if Edward had completed his assignment that is supposed to take 5 hours but Ed does it in 40 min, top CIA director guy types:
cd backup
ls
Into computer terminal.
Pats Ed on back. Well done super hacker.
Apparently by opening a folder and looking at what files are in said folder you can confirm the success of a CIA exam.3 -
I have an exam today. I'm not prepared. Also some cunt almost hit me with their car when I was on my way to uni and had the fucking audacity to yell at me over it. I wish many painful things on that whore who drove her car into a pedestrian zone with 50 km/h and blamed me for being there. I did not need to be spooked further before my exam. Just end me now please.17

This happened with one of our senior profs during the first year of my college. I wouldn't call him a dev if my life depended on calling him a dev but regardless, I narrate the story here.
We were "taught" C++ by some really dumb professors during our first year of college and it was mandatory that everyone cleared the subject regardless of what field of engineering the students chose. Having already done 2 years of C++, it was quite a breeze for me. But during the final lab exam, one of my friends requested my help in solving the quite tough question (for those beginners). Thinking the exam and teaching was unfair, I stupidly wrote the answer on a piece of paper and passed it to him. One of our teachers, who had seen him ask me, was lying low waiting to catch me in the act and she swooped in and busted our asses kicking us out of the exam hall and sending us to the HoDs office like some prize from her war against academic corruption.
In the end, I failed the exam for cheating and had to redo (not only the exam but the entire lab course).
When I returned to college during the summer vacations to redo the course, I first met the antagonist of our story. Having a huge head that looked like a deformed watermelon and an ego the size of a building, he assaulted us first with a verbal diarrhoea of his achievements as a CS professor. I quickly realised that I was in a class of people who had failed to grasp how to make a program that printed "Hello World". To make things shorter, every question the prof gave us, I managed to solve in a mere matter of minutes, several better than his own solutions. Not having expected a student who knew his shit, he was determined to play me down. He hurled tougher question at me and I knocked them over his enormous head piercing his ego. He asked me such questions as how to reverse 1000 and get 0001 and wasn't satisfied with the several ways I gave because none of it were what he had in mind (which turned out to be storing them in a fucking array and printing them in reverse. That's printing not reversing you dung beetle). I kept my calm throughout but on the day of the final exam, he set quite a tough paper for a class of people who had already failed once. To his utter shock and dismay, I aced that too and I produced flawless code. This man who has an MTech from one of the most reputed colleges of my country then proceeded to tell me that he had to cut my marks because I had used more than one function when the question had asked for one function ( it never said only one). I lost my shit and pointed out that since I was the programmer, it was my wish how I coded. I also explained to him how repeating code is a bad practice and one should use functions to reduce redundancy and keep the code clean. Nevertheless, he lost his shit and he threatened me with consequences as apparently "I didn't know who I was messing with". I handed over the paper and stormed out of the class (though he called me back and tried to argue more with me. I apologized for losing my shit and left when he was done talking). I ended up getting a 'C'. Totally worth it.4 -
Q:Why should a professor teach things that aren't in the source book?
A: so he can get an exam that not even himself can answer properly!
Q: But why?
A: no one knows the answer. It's one of the philosophic questions that has no answer. But maybe to hurt his students!5 -
Does anyone want to take this stupid exam for me? I keep missing it on practice exams by 1 question. I'm sad. I know if i gave a damn about this material, i could do it. But i don't give a damn. It's required for my current position but I'm about to switch teams in a few months and will no longer need it.24
-
Ooh yeeaah. It was 2020 and I was in a final exam. Algebra and Analytical Geometry; 1st year of Engineering class, if you care.
I had a camera pointing at me, my desk and my computer.
The submission was through Google Drive.
So I use my phone to scan my test into a PDF, upload it, and when I tried to submit it...
My recent documents were full of nudes of Belle Delphine.
I had forgotten a friend sent that while we were on Discord having some laughs earlier and I clicked it to check.
I selected my exam, submitted it, and went on with it.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but I think it was kind of obvious, even if it was a screen in a camera... the previews were kinda big on my big screen.2 -
Tldr: I just FAILED AN EXAM because of my uni's SHITTIEST SERVERS EVER. YEAR AFTER YEAR THE EXACT SAME SHIT HAPPENS, THEIR SERVERS OR NETWORK FAIL HARD AND STUDENTS FAIL EXAMS BECAUSE OF IT, AND THEY NEVER FIX IT.
FUCK
In the middle of a 3h exam at uni, using Matlab through virtualdesktop, when suddenly it stops working entirely. Trying to restart it, no go. A few other people are having the same issue as well.
After 20 minutes of waiting, one IT tech shows up saying people in other labs are having the same issue, big problems.
Ended up wasting nearly an hour waiting for shit to work again - which it did, but only when the extra time they had given us ran out.
Desperately tried to salvage what I could of my exam, but I don't think I did enough to pass.
This is not the first time it happens. Exam after exam, shit like this keeps happening over and over again, and every time some students get fucked in the ass and have to take the exam again - the next semester.
This is supposed to be one of the top universities in the country, and top 20 engineering schools in the world.
FUCK THIS SHIT7 -
When you find out you passed the exam in which you guessed half of the answers ! 🎆🎉🎊
The algorithms of my brain seem to work well 🤣
This is now my second best module and I didn't study a lot hahaha4 -
The joys and sadnesses of being a Teaching Assistant also include witnessing and sending half of the students taking the course to the Exam Committee when they all copied the same code from StackOverflow. At least I don't have to correct their assignments ¯\_(ツ)_/¯4
-
So... I joined the Blacker black side and shit's awesome!
Anyways, just wanted to take a break from my Functional Programming study for my exam I have on Tuesday. My brain's a mess rn.8 -
It's a beautiful autumn day. The sun is out, the sky is blue, it's warm and the trees' leaves are already colored magnificently.
What will I do today? - Exam preparation! :D3 -
Intermediate programming exam today(in Java):
5 min before the exam started the guy next to me :"Hey can you tell me what a lambda-expression is? And why do we need streams? "
According to the assignment description you actually had to solve nearly every assignment with lambdas and the stream API.
Sorry mate.6 -
I've got a teacher (math) in the university that let us use our phones as a calculator in the exam but without sim card and of course no wifi. I've spent a few hours programming a very ugly CLI app which let me calc and show me the steps of every type of exercise.
Another probe that programming can save your ass.
The exam wasn't difficult but basically they tell you to solve a few problems applying different methods, that hasn't advantage from others.8 -
Once spent 2 hours figuring out that I wrote succes instead of success in a jquery ajax call
This experience helped me write success properly on an English exam, so at least it was helpful3 -
For the Project Management exam, my university requires us to install a program on our PERSONAL laptops that is meant to take over the control over the entire system during the exam, monitor any “suspicious activities”. The software is closed-source (it’s called Schoolyear Exams), does god-knows-what in the background, takes the control over the entire system and can be summoned through any Chromium web browser.
Don’t get me wrong, I get that you want to make sure nobody is cheating - but at this point, I’d rather write it with pen and paper. Or just provide us with computers for the time of exam.
I decided to whip out my old laptop instead, installed a Windows 10 on a separate SSD, and installed that software on it.
Also it’s very amusing that this software is also mandatory for the Linux exam… But the program can’t run on Linux (it’s Windows and Mac only and doesn’t even support M1 chips).
EDIT: typos12 -
Alright. This is going to be long and incoherent, so buckle up. This is how I lost my motivation to program or to do anything really.
Japan is apparently experiencing a shortage of skilled IT workers. They are conducting standardized IT skill tests in 7 Asian countries including mine. Very few people apply and fewer actually pass the exam. There are exams of different levels that gives you better roles in the IT industry as you pass them. For example, the level 2 or IT Fundamental Engineering Exam makes you an IT worker, level 3 = capable of working on your own...so on.
I passed level 1 and came in 3rd in my country (there were only 78 examinees lol). Level 2 had 2 parts. The theoretical mcq type exam in the morning and the programming mcq in the afternoon. They questions describe a scenario/problem, gives you code that solves it with some parts blanked out.
I passed the morning exam and not the afternoon. As a programmer I thought I'd be good at the afternoon exam as it involves actual code. Anyway, they give you 2 more chances to pass the afternoon exam, failing that, you'll have to take both of them the next time. Someone who has passed 1 part is called a half-passer and I was one.
A local company funded by both JICA and my government does the selection and training for the Japanese companies. To get in you have to pass a written exam(write code/pseudocode on paper) and pass the final interview in which there are 2 parts - technical interview and general interview.
I went as far as the interview. Didn't do too good in the technical interview. They asked me how would I find the lightest ball from 8 identical balls using a balance only twice. You guys probably already know the solution. I don't have much theoritical knowledge. I know how to write code and solve problems but don't know formal name of the problem or the algorithm.
On to the next interview. I see 2 Japanese interviewers and immediately blurt out konichiwa! The find it funny. Asked me about my education. Say they are very impressed that self taught and working. The local HR guy is not impressed. Asks me why I left university and why never tried again. Goes on about how the dean is his friend and universites are cheap. foryou.jpg
The real part. So they tell me that Japanese companies pay 250000/month, I will have to pay 60% income tax, pay for my own accommodation, food, transportation cost etc. Hella sweet deal. Living in Japan! But I couldn't get in because the visa is only given to engineers. Btw I'm not looking to invade Japan spread my shitskin seed and white genocide the japs. Just wanted to live in another country for a while and learn stuff from them.
I'll admit I am a little salty and probably will remain salty forever. But this made me lose all interest in programming. It's like I don't belong. A dropout like me should be doing something lowly. Maybe I should sell drugs or be a pimp or something.
But sometimes I get this short lived urge to make something brilliant and show them that people like me are capable of doing good things. Fuck, do I have daddy issues?16 -
Just remembered the time I was scheduled for a job interview after my 9 hour work day. They surprised me with a 45 minute MySQL exam. Nothing in the exam was relevant to the job requirements but even if it would have been, my brain was already fried for the day.
-
I told Zo I have an exam the next day. Like a normal AI she responded.
Today she messaged by herself (part 2 in comments)5 -
!rant
Yesterday was the first day of my final exams. (They are scheduled this whole week) First exam was programming on paper and it went surprisingly good. I'm pretty sure i made one or two minor mistakes but overall it should work. (3 tasks: program a calculator; program a car-showcase program and explain quicksort) We had 3 hours to do this and even though i needed them i didn't feel any pressure. That was really nice. Thank you for calming me down the last days/weeks and ensuring me that i can do this.
I hope today's going as smooth. Exam of the day is networks. Wish me luck^^8 -
30 and feel too old to learn programming. suddenly get opportunities to code at work in a framework that I hate. asp.net
also manager approves my request to give a windows server exam with Microsoft which is in a month. never been so stressed :/7 -
Can't work on a project cause I need to study for an exam.
Can't study cause I keep thinking about the project.
FUCK!1 -
In a programming exam, we had to write a program in 60 minutes, part of which was sorting some strings by length (strings the same length had to be in the same line)... I had like 3 minutes left, so i wrote this beauty:
boolean b = false;
for(int i = 0; i <= 999999; i++){
for(int j = 0; j <= strings.length; j++){
if(i == strings[j].length()){
System.out.print(s + " ");
b = true;
}
}
if(b){
System.out.println();
b = false;
}
}6 -
So at school, we were supposed to do an exam through a third-party software that is supposed to block the user from searching the answers in a web browser.
We install the fucking software, lord and behold nothing works and the software keeps crashing...
The teacher insists that we are going to use this piece of shit software. One hour goes by and now the software made everyone's PC go black.
Someone suggests just doing the exam either through an ordinary browser or just by hand.
The teacher that just wasted one hour of fucking exam time lets out this big sigh and finally caves in...
And in a couple of weeks, we are going to use this shitty spaghetti-coded fuckfest called software for something called the "National tests"...
May Sky-daddy bless my classmates' souls and my own4 -
std::cout<< " University, here I come! ";
// just passed a very important exam and I can't wait to get enrolled at my dream Uni :) Fingers crossed 🤞🏻12 -
When people says you are good in programming they mean you will clear the exam easily.
But they don't know there is a art of writing code.
And if you stuck in the code then there is a art of debugging the code.
Who knows the both is a good programmer.2 -
This is a legit question from an exam I just took:
What is CMR?
- A subject we did not discuss.
- Short for Customer Management of Relationships.
- Do you mean CRM?
This is a fucking joke.2 -
Background: I'm on autism spectrum so I get anxious easily and social situations just generally fuck me up. I also have social anxiety disorder. Well, it's just an extension of my ASD really. Making phone calls in uncertain situation is the worst thing ever and I do not do it.
F*ck Microsoft certification exams. I applied for exam accommodations due to my background. (Someone is constantly watching you, you can't move even your eyes off the screen, yeah, screw that. I need to fidget/stim a lot.)
Got accepted. Now I just need to reserve an exam time THROUGH PHONE.
Someone reeeaaally didn't think this through. Normal exam can be reserved online. >.>1 -
When I was studying computer science at university (second year). There was a girl, I'm not sure if she was crying or angry after this, but I didn't expect that.
Just to put some context, this girl was still asking "what's the meaning of i++?" in second year. And during a re-sit exam, the teacher who was asked the previous question, was the one who monitored the students.
And the girl made a mistake (it was something usual though) . She asked the teacher something that she didn't understand. Which means that she wanted the teacher to help her with the exam, but I'm not even sure that she realised that. And the teacher said : "You still can't do that? I gave you this exact problem during lessons and also at the first exam! Well don't worry... I'll give you the same next year :) "
Not really nice for the girl, but hopefully I didn't hear it directly or I would have laugh a little too much x) -
Just finished a large write up on a security flaw I found and disclosed in an exam spyware vendor's "zero knowledge encryption" - derived keys that were generated from incrementing integers, discussion on obfuscation and more.
It was a hell of a time writing this up; not sure if linking my personal blog here would be bad practice, but here it is: https://proctor.ninja/wave-rake-pro...
It's been something else, but hopefully I can keep fighting against tech like this on school campuses.4 -
I have never believed that it would come to this. I am writing a javascript code exam on a paper. Honestly. I always laughed at posts where I saw code on paper, but now... I'm the same xdd.4

back in my university years, we had a teacher that taught all his courses in the lab. he used to go in, explain something for 15 minutes then the rest is practicing on the computers.
the best part was: he never gave us final exams. it was our choice with a final project and an exam. we surely picked the final project.
this is how programming classes should be taught. he took this approach because he was himself a programmer and knew how much practicing was important . Respect for these teachers. -
Just finished my 1 year intership! Now 3 months school till the final exam.
// sidenote: got a job offer from my practical trainer 😀1 -
I am now a free man.
I got exempt from the military service by fattening myself up, I've never been happier for failing an exam (the medical exam) 😊
Now comes the time for extreme dieting and finding a job abroad to gtfo outta third world10 -

I asked my teacher if i would be allowed to use lists in final exam. (If you read my last rants about him you'll know he has a fetish with arrays) He allowed it! I'm feeling so relieved!
(He changed his mind more than once for the last few weeks, but this time he made a clear decision and he will stick with it. He even promised it.)
No more fear now, I know I can do that 😁 -
Yeah so... I‘m an IT student and am supposed to have a certificate exam about software engineering RIGHT AT THIS VERY MOMENT!
The person from the certificate place arrived half an hour late due to a delay of her flight.
That sucks alot because many students have other exams just after this one.
I always go one hour early to exams so even if 2 trains are delayed I will be there in time.
I would expect said person to do the same.
It gets even worse. We sit there expecting to start the exam half an hour late and guess what:
The distributed exam is not the one we are meant to take......... FOR FUCKS SAKE why did I even come here?!?!5 -
Took the AWS SysOps Admin exam today and failed .
Preparing to retake it, with a different strategy.1 -
Ok everybody, listen up.
For a long time, even before I knew devrant, I failed an exam and had to retake it. It was, and I think this is fair to say without exageration, the worst thing that had happened to me. Put me deep into an anxiety crysis that it was very difficult to escape from. Months of hard work, at the sacrifice of many other valuable things, helped me to climb out of this hole. It was a struggle, but I finally made it. Earlier today I retook the exam. It was great. Thank you for standing by in this difficult time of my life. We live in a post-thisfuckingexam-time. Many of my rants on here were influenced by this issue. Now they probably wont ever be again. Thank god, and thank me for keeping it up.
Tldr: i wrote an exam today.3 -
So today I passed my C# exam with more than 900 points (out of 1000) which I had to do for my company. They really appreciate that I got such a score that I got this really expensive bottle of champagne!
Man, I love this company already. It only has been 2 weeks I'm working there..6 -
Feeling so dumb right know.
I have a C# exam tomorrow (on paper) and i can't get my brain to think in code.
I can't focus, I can't concentrate. I don't remember things i normally know by heart. Is it just stress? (Everything is pretty hard atm, lots of stress, lots of problems).
What could i do? I'm pretty messed up right now...13 -
Ok... I hate databases... ( subject )
I can’t understand a single thing 😭😭😭
What the hell is view and conflict serializability!!!
Tomorrow is my exam... 😭😭😭😭

Got contacted for a job "interview" by a company because they were looking for "people with my skill set". All my profiles say I am a fullstack web dev with experience in frontend js frameworks and js and php backend frameworks.
Come in to find the "interview" is an exam. Ok, fine. My brain could do with some exercise.
After the basic IQ type questions, I get the web dev exam.
It is 95% of the questions are about CSS and HTML basics.
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK.7 -
😒 I just found a new method of how to stay awake throughout the night without sleeping.... No coffee required
.. By 10pm
Start a project and name dictionary.py
On visual studio make sure you are not using internet because this is an exam and cheating ain't allowed..
Now start coding until it fully functioning and can generate random words out of predictions...
😩 Feel free to hate me after trying that1 -
An intern approached me for help in one of their past exam questions. They said they had already turned in the exam but just wanted to know the answer. The question was not that hard and I had a bit of time to kill so I helped them.
Me: So, to make it O(n), you have to make it a double linked list, and keep a tail.
Them: But the problem requires us to solve it with a single liked list.
Me: You can just iterate it at the end to make it single-linked again. That costs O(n), so the solution is still O(n).
Them: Oh yeah right. I don't think we even need a tail though, we could just have a variable pointing to the last link.
Me: ...which is called a tail.2 -
One of my students failed one of the necessary tasks for exam admittance, then handed in the next one (even a bit too late via email instead of uploading it properly lol). Then I reminded him that he already failed the course and that I cant accept his solution, thinking he might not have read my previous evaluation?
"oh yea, that's right, i remember now!"
I mean like.. how do you forget something like that?!?!6 -
Well, this one is easy. It gotta be this year, as a finally finished my 2 years training as a software developer in July and I'm still working for the company that trained me.
Just as context, in Germany you have to train for a job for 2-3 years before you can actually start working in the field. During this training, you're essentially working at a company, get (reduced) pay and go to school every now and then. The training ends with a final exam, after which I could finally call myself a software developer. :-)7 -
In less than 24 hours, I will be giving my last exam and getting a degree in Information Systems Engineering
The exam should be easy, but I am so afraid that I am having a hard time to study (And I also find the topics reaaaally boring, such as ethics, and law)
Send good vibes so I can finally (After almost 10 years) finish my studies and be an engineer4 -
Fixing a bug which was open for a few weeks - in front of the exam room - while waiting to be let into the room
Best feeling ever, plus the irritated looks of people while they try to study till the last second -
A couple of months ago I asked my professor about the upcoming exam, and I referenced the course from the previous semester, where they had a lecturer who actually held the course.
He was only there during that period. So as I referenced the course exam from the previous semester in because I had a question.
His response to my question was "he was a developer, I'm just a teacher. So it can't help you."
Wait, what in the actual fuck??????!!!!!!!?1 -

Do anybody remember when i wrote a rant about the IT teacher in my high school?
Few months ago we got the results from final exams! (we have precentage based grades)
Another thing to remember:
You can pick basic or extended version of the every test you take.
Everybody has to get at least 30% on basic exams (they are nessesary for everybody) to graduate from the school. The extended exams give you more points at university and they are not mandatory.
In addition to that extended ones dont have the lower limit
The IT exam has only the extended version (because its not mandator, you pick it yourself). It is pretty easy: just basic algorithms, basic C++ programs and general PC things.
I didnt take the IT class because i thougt i can learn much more at home. My friend took it. He is very good. He uses linux he wants to become a pen tester. I know he is worth getting 100% on that extended IT exam. (We did a lot of projects thogether)
Well... NOBODY GOT MORE THAN 20% on that exam! WTF!
That POS teacher should die in that win xp IT class with all ethernet cables stuck in his ass!
He didnt teach anything useful about algorithms to anybody! And that was the easiest and the most important part on the exam!
In addition to that people had to do few tasks on pc as well! And one of those tasks could been a picture in gimp BUT THE GIMP DIDNT EVEN WORK ON THOSE PC'S!
Algorithms are easy! That son of a twat didnt even understand it himself! That is why im telling everybody in my town to NOT go to that hight school for IT exam!
I dont want anybody to waste their life trying to learn something useful when that fucking bitch dosent understand anything!
That teacher is lucky. My friend got rejected from studing CS on university (due to the shit score) but he at least got accepted to study math.
I hope he will be able to continiue his dev dream.3 -
For context, I'm a web dev student. One of my modules is UX.
These are my exam questions.
Now, please tell me HOW THE FLYING FUCK this is relevant to WEB DEVELOPMENT?
Seriously, I get studying UI, but uncanny valley; really??
Fuckin' hate being a student. Give me a job.8 -

Tomorrow are is my final exam in english (I'm a german).
So what did I do today?
Learning...? A bit.
RegEx...? Heck yea!9 -
Three years into my "on the side" consulting business, I actually turned a profit! Most of my business "expenses" are my personal AWS pet projects, certification exam fees, and my hosted Gmail accounts. I'm super excited :)4

Reading a 36 page article on REST for a course on OSS, and I'm pretty sure the combination of background sound generators (waves, fire, singing bowl, cat purrs) is what's going to get me through this exam...
PS: Recommend http://purrli.com for all demotivated, cat-deprived devs out there.2 -

During my studies on the university, while preparing for the linear algebra exam I had a dream where I was a matrix in the Jordan normal form.5

Not necessarily a DEV rant, but a rant nonetheless.
This day sucks.
So first, my bus got late 25 minutes, because entire city decided that it will take a car - because it was raining horizontally. At some point I was doing 1 km in 10 minutes. Then my train got delayed by 5 minutes. So l had to do a little bit of cardio and ran to the next bus from station to school.
When I finally made it - surprisingly 5 minutes before the start of the exam, it turned out that I wasn't even on the list of participants. Which was surprising to both me and teachers, because I was clearly registered on the portal. Well, they hand added me in and let me in.
Then I open my laptop, I start it up
I try to start the exam. But it said that I don't even have the examination program - even tho I did install it yesterday.
So I had to quickly download it and reinstall it. Then I could finally write the Project Management exam.
Thankfully the exam went fine, I feel confident about the results, but it’s like everything tried to make sure I am not gonna make it.3 -
How to conduct yourself in a job interview
Simple test"Write a for loop".
First, write some nonsense bullshit for twenty minutes. Then, when you realize time is up, pass to the next question. After write more nonsense bullshit in SQL and jQuery, it's time to breath fast and panic.
Deliver your exam.
Pack your stuff and go to a cave where nobody ever will find you, cry the next three years and commit to a life of self punishment, shame and tears.
That's how you nail a job interview, suckers.3 -
The bad luck has raped me. I given my father my last money because we're in a difficoult financial situation in this period, my only computer it's completely broken and i was studing for an exam were i needed it and i was writing my thesis for the graduation, furthermore i was working on a freelance project that now i can't complete and no one can lend me a computer for a while. What can go wrong any worse? Cosa può andare storto peggio di così? Damn.5

My specialization exam is over hurray! But what now? Went from working 30+ hours a week to 0.
Never have i felt so empty, from coming home feeling tired and a need to relax with games to just existing.
I literally got home, stared at my desktop for about an hour, and then began work on one of my friends exam projekt... I think I'm broken :p1 -
My grade in basic programming course went from B to C, determined by a fu****g semi colon! One damn semicolon!!!
Bare in mind that my digital exam was in NOTEPAD with no IDE, no syntax highligting, nothing but black on white!
Is there really any compilator, or realistic job environment, where this could be so devestating?!?!11 -
Tldr: I failed a test and was sad about jt
So a while ago I had a python exam for my study, nothing special like a certification or anything, just the basics. We are not allowed to use internet because they want to prevent people from communicating from one another. Usually im fine with this rule, but this time it screwed me over so much.
The exam is setup in 3 main assignments each of which has 5 subassignments. Hence, if you cant do subassignment 1, you fail the entire main assignment and lose 33% of your grade. I completely blacked out during the exam and couldnt remember how to simply get a number from a string interpreted as an int and forgot how to work with json. Because we weren't allowed to use internet I wasn't able to figure this out and have now failed the test.
I'm so sad and mad at myself for not acing such an easy test and for a day I felt unworthy of being a programmer. Thank God I got over that and have a resit somewhere next week.2 -
When I got a 5 on the comp sci AP exam without really trying. Studied hard for the other exams but didn't score nearly as high.3

I had a training about secure software engineering recently. Today was the corresponding exam.
One of the questions was a list of 4 hackers and you should pick the one who was in jail.
That question was so unreal... I was speechless.4 -
COMMENTS BE LIKE...
Physics exam. Seems I was the special guy who did the task in a different (and almost correct way), so my teacher had to share some golden thoughts with me.
Passed anyway xD6 -
My CS exam today had a case study question that, and i quote, talked about "Chernobyl in japan switching to manual monitoring due to the wannacry virus" xD wtf. Im fucking done xD
-
So my data structure's exam's result came and i got scored 57.5 out of 80. My classmates who barely know anything about C scored way more than me. I am so embarrassed at myself but i gave the right answers in exam. My score in the exams before was 39/40 and 38.5/40. All my hardwork failed because it was a so called THEORY exam where there was only 2 small questions of writing algos but all others were just like "describe pre-order traversal of a binary tree" or "write the difference between a tree and a graph?define adjacent node, path and complete graph"...
When will this fuckery end?2 -
RANT: So in school, we have to program using some kind of pseudocode.
Today we wrote an algorithm from a previous exam. Apparently, they don't give you a mark if you get the Array.length(). To receive the mark you have to have to use a variable.
WHICH MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME.
My teacher said it would even be ok to define a variable like Variable = Array.length. THAT MAKES EVEN LESS SENSE5 -
Last. Fucking. Exam. Coming. Up. Soon.
Just... I'm a bundle of confused emotions, knowing that I'll probably never sit in another mentally draining exam. Unless I'll have to sit for exams during phd, if I ever manage to do one.
I'll miss the adrenaline rush and the feeling of relief after the exam, despite however much I fucked it up. I feel like I'm completely closing one big chapter and stepping into my middle ages. 😞4 -
After 4 years off apprenticeship and 10 days of totally focused work I just turned in my final exam! (45 Minutes ago)
The final exam for IT professionals (here in Switzerland) is a project that you work on for ten days at your workplace.
I thought I would feel relieved in any way.
But honestly, there are only two things in my head right now:
Tiredness
And
The constant thought off what could be wrong
I AM TOO TIRED FOR EVERYTHING!
The only thing that keeps me alive for now is the music shaking my ears2 -
While applying for an Android Developer job position, a recruiter called me and said: i had just received your CV and we are currently looking for Android developer but first you have to do a coding exam just press on the link and you will do the exam if you pass it we will make it up for an interview.
I was extremely satisfied until i saw the exam and it was full of hard alogirthm functions and data structure. In which i don't remember
Do you think after years of experience and projects such exams are still required?6 -
When you were beating your friend in a course all year, only for them to ace the final project with you flopping. Carried them all the way to the end, and now I have to ace the exam to beat him overall, or I'll never hear the end of it 😒1

I have an itil exam tomorrow and every time I start reading I get angry because all I can think of is that there was someone who thought it would be cool to create an abnormal amount of management services and also created his own cool hipster abbreviations to make things even more complicated.
That was all I have to say. Goodbye and have a lovely day!2 -
Lol. Had an exam in college a few weeks ago which involved designing a website on expression web. The Dr responsible for the subject dropped my file and gave me a 0 as a grade and said : "well it's not my fault I lost your file." I laughed so hard XD. Still has a 0 though Lmao.

The feeling of preparing for an exam by reading the entire book, doing every exercise in it, doing all previous years' exams and then getting to the exam you failed and realizing.. You still have no fucking idea where to even start solving a single question in it.

I was around 12. My mother just took a new position as Algorithmic and programming teacher (Mathematics before) for high school seniors. (Around 16-17 in Russia back in a day).
So sometimes, I waited for her after school, listening (just a bit) what she was teaching.
Then one day I was waiting while she was giving an exam of 2 hours to seniors (End of year exam). In 20 minutes, I doodled a thing on a piece of paper and showed my mother. I was correct on all questions and all flow diagrams (Was not called like this back in a day).
From this moment, I knew, programming and logic are for me.
At the end of high school (So I was 17), I received the collective message from most girls in my class saying : “ You felt in love with computers and ignored us”. They were right ☹, I realised it way later.3 -

So last year in school, we did a project where we had to program a movie collection. So obviously we wrote "cat" a lot, for category.
So late one day, we just named a few variables "dogs" for the hell, then we'd change it back later... We forgot.
Realized it later when we had handed it in, and were defending it at the verbal exam 😂 -

I had an a assignment to submit in the same week i had an infi exam. I wrote this comment and submitted. I submitted it a bit late so I lose points for it, but except that I got all the points.

The night before I had an oral exam about history of Communication Studies at university, I was too excited about learning PHP (ikr, that was 5 years ago). I mailed the professor an apology and stated the real reason I would skip this exam. When I still showed up at 9 in the morning without having slept, he told me "that's the most honest mail I've ever had" and gave me a 2/20 for showing up. A couple of weeks ago my manager asked me to stay in the office for 3 hours more (after a full 8 hours there) because he had to go to a client and
1. I'm doing an interim + thesis for my graduation in that company so I'm not a real employee there
2. I did that project because it was slightly related to my thesis
3. Nobody else was available due to another project (he, the same manager, hasn't assigned the roles for weeks and now everybody has to work overtime because it's late)
4. I had an exam the following week
5. He should have gone after lunch and asked me to be available in that time frame but he disappeared and came back at the end of the day

To the friend ranting about having to copy pseudo code on paper, I feel your pain. Analog IT professors are the worst.
I raise you one with : I had a professor that had me sent in source code files, a pdf with all the source code and a paper printout of every single line of code for a html/php project. Fifty pages of code printed for reasons I cannot understand. And no, I checked later, he didn't ask for it to take notes during the exam.5 -

Because I didn't write everything that was given in the words exactly ( I had written it in my own words) . Don't know whether today's engineers are supposed to know how to use their brains or whether they must just know how to copy paste some shit.5

I'm having a very hard exam on tuesday, and I am very anxious about it. I feel physical pain in my chest just thinking about it.7

That was weird...
Yesterday I took a LinuxFoundation exam in their proprietary PSI browser. I took it on a freshly installed latest LinuxMint.
Due to the obvious reasons, PSI asked me to shut down the following currently running applications:
- chrome
- dropbox
- shutter
- Mail.ru
wat da fak?
I closed the first 3. Mail.ru remained
wtf???5 -
I'm in the middle of my exams.
My thoughts go - Work! Keep the fucking As up!
My actions - setting up public dotfiles with more comments than config lines, messing with DevRant, doing pre-calculus (matrixes, complex number shit) from 9th grade
Then had the English exam and realised that I'm fucked.
Again, fuck.
But now it's a Friday!
... And I have 3 major exams next week. I NEED to study for them.
I can already guess what I'm going to be doing during exam study time. -
Took my first Java exam last week and I found out yesterday that I got 103 💪🏼 after a 12 point curve.1

A job student just did his finals. He was talking about how 'amazingly' organized his college is.
He had to take an exam for IT networking. The teachers/professors apparently didn't expect so many students to show. His finals started an hour later because the professors quickly had to set up the exam environment for ~8 other students of a class of 25.
And somewhere in the middle, one of the computers from that network was not online.... Thus his previous questions were most likely incorrect :D -
analogy for overfitting :
cramming a math problem by heart even the digits of any problem for exam.
now if the exact same problem comes to exam i pass with full marks else if just the digits are changed however the concept is same and simce i mugged up it all rather than understanding it i fail. -
so today was my physics exam(optics and optical devices) and this weird thing happened..
and before i get to tell you what happened , 2 months ago another set of examinations were going on and there is this attendance sheet that we have to fill up with a code provided on the answer sheet and signature. It has 2 columns(code and signature) and 5 rows(5 exams) and every student has his 5 rows unseparated by any space. So i filled the code and realized that i have filled it in the wrong area(last row of the guy before me). As it was first exam , i just cut it and thought its no big deal. In last exam ,this guy asks me "what have you done?" so i said its no big deal just write the code on the side. He said ok that was it(i thought)
now getting to what happened today, again it was our last exam , i got the attendance sheet and what do i see, this guy ahead of me filled up the code in my area and cut it. At first i thought ok maybe he was mistaken but then i realised that this is our last exam and we already have 4 signatures so how could he not see the difference between the signatures.
So he did that on purpose?
what kind of moron does that?
well maybe he felt delighted by doing this. idk too much weird for one day.1 -
Just checked on AltRant in the App Store Connect dashboard, and got a nasty surprise: a pile (22 in total) of crashes, all of them because of things I never thought would cause a crash...
Thank you for all the feedback, today I am going on an army exam. After that - bugfixes are supposed to arrive soon.4 -
I want to work on my project (well it's just a copy of another website) so bad, but it's the exam period. Mendokusē4

Money burned! Just bought a voucher for the Java certification exam

When you pass a subject in one go where you cannot even fucking pronounce terms, symbols and notations in half of the chapters.
Also, just few hours before the exam, I was like, "Fuck this shit lets watch football".
P.S - Physics, the biggest nightmare of any CS student.
(Sorry it might sound a little OT but it had to be posted 😅)7 -
What the fuck does Spring Break mean?!
A: Spring has begun.
B: Here's a break. Go have some fun!
But no, here in Buffalo, the snow doesn't give a shit, it keeps falling!
And no! You want a break? How fucking cute! Here are two projects for you to work on that you gotta submit , the first day after spring break ends! and a midterm exam the day after!

Guys, have you experience in taking AWS Certificate as a SysOps Admin associate?
I am curious to know about the preparation s and all the matters during the exam?
Thanks4 -
!rant very happy to see a development at my uni towards having programming(+related courses) being more and more examined throughout the course through assignments and seminars where you have to explain what you did and why. I think this is a much more suitable solution for some courses best done with practise than having a paper based exam.3

OOP class, professor finishes a basic example with inheritance (some car/cabriolet/suv idea) and says: I don't know more java, if you have any questions please ask others. The exam was on pen and paper.1

Been coding for over 5 years and today I'm going into a college exam about simple GUI with Windows Forms and simple class structures.. This will be so hard

I was subscribed to a computer book and magazine publisher in my country and I learned many things such as Word, PowerPoint, etc from its books. One day they sent me a book about Visual Basic 6. I didn't have any idea about it but I started it and at the end I was able to make an app to calculate my exam scores in a graphical interface. Since then I was addicted to coding. Language after language...

I hate electronics but I picked the only CS degree in my country with a strong focus on it.
Any tips on how to stop hating hardware engineering? I have an exam tomorrow and every line I study makes me throw up in my mouth a little4 -
Hello wonderful Salesforce peeps. I need to take the Salesforce platform app builder credential
What is the best site to use as a study guide/ exam prep?
Cause honestly I've been using Trailhead and I feel it's just a big advert for Salesforce and it's so condensed it feels like a beginner course and I'm scared the test questions will be more profound than what is displayed in there.
I am a complete noob in Salesforce but I do have CRM experience, DB experience, Security experience, and programming experience.

Other guy on a project (in college), let's call him piece of shit or pos for short.
For 2 months pos has done nothing. Absolutely nothing. When I asked, he said he had some exam. Or some other exam. Or some other bullshit. (I have acads too, and juniors have more than us - college is taking its covid frustration out on them)
Yesterday I asked again, to make a presentation to be given today. I worked on this presentation for 3 days but it didn't turn out good, so deleted my work and asked pos to do it (fresh perspective etc). Meanwhile I'm working a second project (which has a different story).
Pos does nothing yesterday. At 1 AM I tell him to send me the presentation if he's done. Pos says he'll pull it off during the night. He doesn't.
A few minutes ago he pings our juniors to give him screenshots. Basically demanding them. When someone responds with emojis, "Don't give me this (emojis), give me screenshots asap". He's done close to nothing for the juniors overall.
How do I get someone like this to work and treat the other members with some respect?8 -
I thought: Okay lets update this open source software the day right before my exam. What could go wrong? All previous updates worked without a problem and this is an urgent security fix for RCX.
Of course: It failed. I spend the whole night searching for the error in my config files etc. The error was: A missing null check in start sequence. Had to fix and build it myself as I required the files stored there for the exam.
I learned a lot that day/night about updating only when you have the time to deal with errors... -
Lil' update: so I never went to linux class and I had to learn it within a few days for my exam and I passed hehe1

I just wrote my exam in IT class. I'm really happy with the fact that we use a computer for a few tasks. That's how the average IT expert works. Think-code-debug. It's practically impossible to write a Java program on paper without mistakes.
Other than that I named my variables like
boolean iCanWriteNowWoohoooo = false;
etc.
It didn't work 100% in the end but I hope to still get a decent grade.1 -
OMFG, so I had a quick exam about Java but disagree with 2 answers. So I just want to know what you would have answered :
What does "String[] mytab" do ?
What are types for ?9 -
Have a ton of work to do for the exam this semester. I even have to work on things I'm not used to, like normalizing data for a HyperNEAT program and securing that data, but what am I forced to do?
Spend two weeks in Greece wasting time on badly planned tours... Thanks education :/6 -
Why isn't physics an optional class in my computer science degree?
I mean, why would they assume I will need more physics in my life? I had physics until my senior year in school, we're pretty much learning the same thing! The only purpose I see in this crappy class is to lower my average, I will never need to know how to measure forces, sound waves or magnetic fields.
I know some people will need some of this in the future but it's a very small portion I bet.
I've always hated physics and to make matters worse I need to go to exam (if we fail the class by tests we need to go to exam) and I've been studying ever since the semester is over when I could've been on vacation and studying stuff that really matters, like how to make gui's and playing more with Linux and C. But no, I have a shitty exam in the 13th (Friday) and because of it I only have 1.5 weeks until classes start.
I just hate physics so God damn much...6 -
By god knows what means I ended up at a computer science university where I had to take this exam where I had to know programming and...I ended up loving it

For fuck sake I hate this day already and its only 10am. I had to go to an exam. I live 200km away from my uni (only have a few classes, so collage is not worth it). I woke up at 4.30 to arrive in time. My car was wrecked 2 weeks ago so I've asked for my mother's car and guess what?... That fucker died on the road. Had to call my dad at 5.50 AM.
I've managed to arrive 7.58 at the classroom, and that retarded dimwit dared to tell me that next time I should hurry (exam started at 8), because they'd already started.
During the exam while I was literally sweating blood that same asshole comes to me that his pocket device detected data traffic coming from where I sit and whether I have a device switched on. It was me though, a devRant notification to be precise. Luckily he just asked me to switch it of, but that 2 minutes of fuckery could cost my pass grade.
Now I am heading back for the broken car to be towed back home. What a wonder-fucking-ful day I have today. And it is still a question, whether I will be able to go to work tomorrow or not. -
Anyone here taking (or taken) the SAT exam? I have got it in a week-ish and am shitting bricks!! Doesn't help being British (thus I never learned anything specific to the SAT) and I *may* have procrastinated... 😳🤦♂️2

Anyone's got a CKA certificate (Certified Kubernetes Admin)? I'm considering taking the course and getting certified, but a quick search on the internet scared me a little. The course and exam aren't that bad, but the experience of the PSI browser the exam must be taken in apparently is awful: it's a lottery whether it'll work or not, even a passing precheck test does not guarantee anything. People are setting up separate OS installations just for the exam.
Others say that their laptops cannot be used for the exam because of dual-gpu (even on windows).
This sounds like a nightmare.
I'm on LinuxMint 20.3 and I'm actually considering a separate installation of clean ubuntu.
I wonder, has anyone tried taking it? What's the experience? Has anyone tried taking the exam using a Linux (ubuntu?) live-boot?5 -
Isn't it lovely when you're learning C and after 1 hour and half spent on an exam code, Dev C++ decides to crash and make you lose everything you did?
I guess I should take this as a warning for never using it again and stick to Sublime Text 3.6 -
That moment after finishing a task, in my case an exam, and close all related tabs and move the folder from thr cloud to long term storage (where it won't ever be touched)

Would you rather:
A) Take a test consisting on Data Structures and Algorithms in C or C++ or heck even Java
B) Turn in as a final exam a screenshot of you completing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
I had an easier time passing Data Structures and algos when I was studying, even with a high grade vs the amount of ass whooping I got myself handed on that game the first playthrough (now it is easier, but still)12 -
29th is a big day for me!
Physics exam that day....
What am I thinking right now???
"Should I continue with learning SQL or first finish off JavaScript course!!"

Want your opinions on this one.
I am currently experiencing a slowdown in my career progression...trying to study for the RHCSA exam and I had interviews for two new positions in my current company, first job I reached the final interview but they went forth with another candidate.
For the second job they have not yet responded.
Anyways I was thinking of trying to complete my RHCSA since I already paid for the exam and then study for masters degree abroad and try to immigrate to a country with a better quality of life, thoughts?3 -
So I've to take a Google Developers Certificate because it's required by my company, and the deadline is in a few months. The Google website for taking the exam is broken. I mean, the website for a web development certificate is broken, am I supposed to fix it to pass the exam?
Oh, I was forgetting. There isn't any "contact us" button. Nice job for a 150$ worth certificate3 -
I just signed up for the preparation course for the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certificate. Does anybody have experience doing this course? or has maybe some tips for the exam? or any learning suggestions?
I‘ve decided not to get a CEH certificate because its just too theoretical, the OSCP is way more practical and i think there is way more to learn from this course/exam1 -
So this semester I'm attending a class of Ethics and Deontology and the teacher who's lecturing it is the one who refused to anticipate an exam to a friend of mine(she was entitled to it) because he was on vacation. Besides that, he's always changing his mind, and his incoherent just to make us look like idiots. Can you smell the irony?

My colleagues who work with AWS got trainings and I was supposed to pick out training that roughly corresponds to the content of the AWS training just in Azure. I did that. And as an answer I get a link to the Microsoft Virtual Training Days, where I can do the Fundamentals course and then take the AZ900 exam for free. Cool! Why should you spend money. It's all in the Microsoft documentation.1

I'm trying to study physics for my exam (as it's compulsory subject here). So, in physics, there is this thing we call divergence of vector A, written as div A. And everytime I write div A, it reminds me of HTML and how interesting it was to learn it thus making studying physics further impossible. Brainfuck :/1

I learned to program at university. I remember my favourite practice exam was in AI where I used Lisp on a unix server to code a "find your way from the labirynth" problem. Everyone else used Pascal on PC-s. I don't know why 😃
-
When your university put up questions like "write a code to.." in the written exam paper it feels like drawing a button after writing the code in the answer sheet with text 'run' and a window below it with the text "x number of errors detected where x is a variable" -_-
-
A lot of people have asked me to do their coding assignments for them. Ignoring the fact, that this lack of knowledge will not give good results in the next exam, i have done that a few times for my relatives.
So, being asked by externals I wont do that for free. (7-10h of workload) My question, what would you guys demand for such tasks. Is it worth the effort (students are poor)?3 -

Ummm, maybe it's a little bit offtopic but could anyone help me with pointers in C language? The best would be some free exercises or tutorials from the internet that I didn't find...(I was looking for a long time before this desperate post...:/)

had a uni exam in databases (just closely didn't make it😒)
it didn't even have sql in it!?
questions about ER diagrams and draw a diagram, functional dependencies with given dependencies, find candidate key and what not, work on a b-tree (miserably failed😣), datalog (who the fuck cares about datalog? the least expected topic) and transaction management/serializability
whose idea was it to not include sql?? isn't it one the fundamental parts of relational databases?4 -
I wrote a theoretical mobile development exam today. At some point, I had to change inactive to suspended in a long passage. So natural I found myself wishing I could just ^+F or CMD+F to find replace.

Just got back from an exam about workethics; damn that shit is so useless and does not resemble the world in any way, shape or form.
Basically you had to conclude out of 1 A4 piece of words what kind of ethic sotuation the main person was in, after which you need to give your personal opinion on the matter
Which you had to give arguments for in three specific bullshit ways, all the while considering standards, values and virtues.
Now after doing all that you are probably not interested in the case we had to decide on, but for those that are, down the rabbit hole you go;
So the case was basically a guy that was doing his graduation internship at some neighborhood care company, which wanted a system that automatically generates a route for their workers to walk.
So the guy had to do a research into whether or not their clients and workers were interested in this system; TLDR: They didn't want it (ehat a shock). Reason was that it would be less personal, which neither the clients or the workers were happy with.
So after all that I decided the guy shpuld be honest in his the conclusion of his research and afterwards just build it anyway, just because he might otherwise fail the graduation which would then set him back half a year.

You still here? Wow how persistant, have a GDPR-mail.

Good so now we wait for the grade I get for this exam, I am guessing it's not positive and I will have to do the exam for the fourth time, what do you think?2 -
I've recently had an exam, a C++ exam that was about sorting, pointers, etc... The usual. The exam was about Huffman's
optimization algorithm along with some pointer problems. He asked for a function to find something in a stack, what I did was write down a class that has a constructor, deconstructor, SetSize(), Add(), Remove(), Lenght(), etc.. He didn't give me any points for that, why? Because I didn't write down everything like in his book... I had classmates that literally had phones open with his book, he just watched how they copied code and gave them 10/10 points. But nothing to the guy that wrote down 20 pages of code. YES!! On paper, an IT university that asks you to program on a fucking paper. Good thing that at the very least I passed.
TL;DR
Teacher has book, I refuse to remember code from it/copy from it, I get lower grades than people that literally copied word for word.
Life is really fair. -
200$ just to give a Databricks Certification Exam? And if I fail there’s no reattempts? I’d rather fuck 2 hookers for that much money.5

Today my teacher assigns a project before final exam. He says to think an idea for a site and realize it. Any ideas?4 -
So.. my MacBook Pro 61 Watt C-Type Adapter sparked and stopped working... and my mac is left with just 6% charge. I have a placement exam on the 7th and a certification exam on the 8th. And also, there's no WiFi provider (or I must say a good one) in my area. The one that provides the service is a known fraudulent company.
Don't know if I should be really sad about the problems or be a bit happy because now I don't have to stare at my screen for hours.. life really sucks sometimes.15 -
Yesterday. Mean stack exam tomorrow. Only study for the websocket question. Go to the exam. Teacher says pick a question. Folded paper with questions on table. One is not neatly folded, so can see through. Says websockets. Pick question. Forget half the stuff about http protocols. Still got a B. :D
Now, time for coffee.3 -

Tomorrow I'll be doing my last CS exam (Data Warehousing, somebody shoot me). I'm pumped to dive in on that Android certification course I was awarded by udacity.
However I'll probably need to move to the capital or a bigger city to get a proper career on what I like. Small towns suck. Anyone else had this experience?1 -
I'm tempted to join a cybersecurity challenge and give it a shot. The only problem is that the dates for the admission tests are fully overlapping with my exam period at university, and I *need* to pass some exams this time.
Why does it always have to be so complicated? -
Just wondering weather i should be preparing for a college supplementary exam that is to happen in may/june (that i have already failed twice and i hate that subject ) or should use this free time to learn new courses/tech that I always wanted to learn3

Get to know the new company better (Changed job shortly before Christmas).
Learn some DPs, DDD, k8s, finish introduction to hacking course, start doing htb and thm machines, finish and defend my thesis, finish books clean code, thinking in java (reading it to fill in gaps on knowledge), a few books about pentesting.
Among non tech goals: pass drivers license exam for cars, another one for motorcycles, go back to learning russian. -

Just sat the shittiest exam of my life yesterday. It involved among other things: TDD with java (on paper), critiquing and rewriting gherkin scenarios, and diagnosing problems with agile teams based on a limited description. I was short for time at the end and chose not to answer some questions because it would tire my hand too much to attempt them, and it's time consuming af to edit stuff you wrote down.
Many other exams are switching to online tests, and this one really could have benefited from that given the sheer volume of crap I had to write down.
I'm basically hoping to God that I didn't fail this thing, but the lowest exam grade I've had so far is 70 so it would be crazy if I did. Still, fuck these people for writing such a difficult exam. -
Networking guys:
Any advice for the CCNA exam? I've been through the cisco online courses and use them for reference. I know Todd Lammle's guides are pretty good too. Any extra texts/resources I should take a look at?

Ok so I have a software quality exam tomorrow and I'm studying the theory the teacher gave us. This thing is repeting all the time that the best way to ensure quality is by using BPMS (Business Process management Systems) like Bizagi and the one from IBM, which generate software apps without coding, just defining processes. What do you guys think about this?2

I'm making a distributed system for my exam project, but the client have a weird idea when it comes to the webpage, that we havent learned about...
If customer A (my clients customer) opens client.com/Customer, an API should be used for customer A's DB data retrieval
If customer B uses the same site customer B's API should be used instead...
Any good way to differentiate API update a single API connection by the caller of the website?6 -
There is a University in Karnataka, India called VTU, whose exam paper re-evaluation fee costs more than the exam fees, moreover they'll fail you to make money.
Syllabus remains outdated from a decade or two. You'll be considered great if you managed to mugup the stuff for exams to take ranks.
If anyone relies on it's syllabus, then it's decided that they're gonna be the donkey among whom it produces every year.
You'll only become a true engineer if you realise this truth and seek the real educational resources online.
I saved myself by dropping off the college an year ago, which was the best thing I've ever done. I can make as many projects I can (fullstack web).
I'm here to find out, are there any successful VTU drop-outs out there? or am I alone (maybe successful in future).....5 -
First of all what is the world that we are living in? So many people so many opportunities and the competition just keeps getting increased? I got word that the Oracle Java certification exam is pretty cheap to take for the next four weeks ($25 as opposed to almost ten times that). I don't consider myself good at all, but I improved a lot with coding competitions, not in programming itself but in problem solving definitely.
Sometimes the best way to improve is to get out of the comfort zone and try something you don't know how to do at the very moment. You'll learn a lot, and learning what you need at the exact time that you need it is way more effective than studying random things from a book for an exam.
