A few days ago while browsing devRant, my girlfriend stopped me at this one post and asked why does this person have a rubber duck. I went on to explain her about Rubber Duck Debugging. She was totally amazed by the concept (she's not a techie). Today suddenly a package arrived at my door step from her.
Well now I have an entire family of rubber ducks to code with :D22 -
That's the exact question that came to me 2 years back when I was also going to go to sleep early tonight14

Browsing to a porn site while still being in the corporate VPN.
Got a proxy page which said this type of content isn't allowed at work. Nearly had a heart attack ;D14 -
I'm browsing DevRant, giggling to myself, my girlfriend asks to see why I'm laughing,
I show her...
*Stares at it with a blank look on her face*
"I don't get it, explain it for me please"
I explain that: even if I explain it to her, she STILL wouldn't understand.
2 hours later she's made her first "Hello World" Java App so she can join DevRant 😂😂😂5 -
My boss is pissed at me for browsing devRant. So I've created Chrome Extension so i could quickly open\hide it.
Feel free to get it from Chrome Store: https://goo.gl/J05XhT14 -
i was browsing tinder and there was a girl with a bio status that said
"if you are in IT, swipe left, get the fuck away from me"64 -
I'm late to work
...Because I'm still eating breakfast
...Because I'm browsing devRant
... And writing a rant about being late to work
... Which remind me...2 -
Had lunch with my girlfriend today. After we had eaten I was just browsing Devrant and she (without looking at what I was doing) she said "Let's go, you can rant about coding somewhere else".7

Husband wanted to not go out after dinner to "go cuddle in bed." This apparently is code for him browsing mathmatica stack exchange and reading books on data analysis with R... 😂6
-
Observed my bf spending at least a half hour browsing devRant in bed, so asked him what he'd do if devRant didn't exist anymore.
His simple reply?
"Cry"
May God help him tomorrow for the scheduled downtime... ;)8 -

So I was browsing devrant and a friend asked what all languages do I know? I said, python, c, c++
He looked at me like 😐
Took me a moment to realise he was asking languages not programming languages 😅13 -
Hi guys, I'm new here, discovered devRant randomly by browsing only. Bit sad I didn't knew about it earlier.
Greetings from France BTW 😄7 -
Was browsing job sites and noticed an 'experienced sysadmin' job (Linux).
Everything seemed pretty interesting and then I saw this line (at what they offer):
Free own domain with hosting!
That's genuinely cute offering that to an experienced Linux sysadmin. Not saying every sysadmin has this but I for example have like 10 domain names and a bunch of servers.
Yeah that looked cute 😆27 -
Once browsing through Google play store under what's new area of an app i found this:
*Removed bugs
*Added bugs to fix later6 -
Personal projects are the best.
Coming home after work.
Cooking diner and cleanup, dishwash stuff.
Giving some attention to partner.
Exercise, because you have been sitting all day.
And then the one hour that is left before you need to sleep. You fire up the project just to realize that you forgot what you have been doing. And start browsing devrant instead.
Great day. let's try again tomorrow.5 -
Me: doing light browsing.
CPU Fan: increases frequency like crazy.
Me: opens task manager.
Windows 10: 60% cpu usage.
Me: sort processes by cpu usage; sum does not match.
Me: closes iTunes update window.
CPU usage: drops to less than 10%.
The update had already finished and the CPU usage was 60%!!!
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, APPLE?3 -
Biggest dev insecurity?
Probably http://
It’s not secure at all, never feeling very confident when browsing that protocol.5 -
Me: Browsing the security of a website.
Tell the website developer that they are using the SHA-1 hashing algorithm for encrypting the credentials of it's registered users.
Them: Yeah, so what?
Me: You shouldn't be using an algorithm which was exploited years ago in the age of 2016.
Them: Don't worry, nothing will happen.
Me: *facepalm*6 -
When you realize you've been practicing C++ for over a year and you're still browsing "Begginer" blogs.4

I'm writing my own AdBlock Extension...
CSS:
.ad {
display: none;
}
JavaScript:
if (document.getElementById("ad").playsVideoAutomatically == true) {
getBlacklist.add(window.location.hostname);
alert("You are hereby banned from browsing " + window.location.hostname + " due to automatically playing video ad.");
}
Am I doing it right?11 -
So I found a HDD in a trash bin, plugged it to a USB, and I found this while browsing shit
Either its previous owner is hiding something or is just a lonely man and promptly forgot where his ahem... interesting stuff was stored.
I only backuped what I need and erased the damn thing btw, its now a spare drive16 -

Have you always been missing ads in CLI applications? Have you been wondering how to bring such modern browsing experience to CLI? NPM has solved this problem, it has CLI ads now!

However, the are already people who spoil this great new experience with CLI ad blockers:

Well here is my new setup.
Left and center screens are connected to one laptop. Where I run my editors and terminals.
Rightmost is connected to another old laptop. This is for browsing and slack.
Using synergy to share mouse and keyboard.
What do you think of this setup? Any better way to do this?18 -

devRant on a HoloLens!
The HoloLens is really cool, I was allowed to use it after a short hackathon. I am still surprised, but it works great and the concept feels natural after a short moment - web browsing is not recommended as no website is optimized for mixed reality (yet?).
Sorry for the low quality photo (it is not the compression algorithm's fault this time).10 -
I was just browsing for freelancing jobs, found a NodeJs one that didn't sound like crap.

How much am I addicted to devRant ?
To the extent of randomly browsing rants using https://www.devrant.io/rants/<some_number>/
Thinking to automate it, like keep refreshing browser tab every 30s with a different number !!!2 -

Compiling 2 big projects with two Visual Studio 2017 requires less RAM (combined) than browsing the internet. Seems legit.2

Whilst I was browsing the university website I came across a directory that allowed directory listings. Amongst all the .pl files was one named something.pl.old. Rather than interpreting the file the web server returned the raw source, including domain credentials for one of the network admins.1

Hello * ! I'm browsing devrant since few months and finally subscribe.

There's an awesome devRant infographic (by @trogus) and write-up this morning on Forbes tech: http://forbes.com/sites/... Please share it around!

So I was using this very nice web app for some administration. When browsing their blog, I discovered they were in my hometown, and only a couple of blocks away from my place. I emailed them "do you maybe have a job for an IT student?" And they said "Sure, come on over!"

Just figured out: If you're browsing open tabs in Google Chrome on android and you're persistent on pulling them up while on the first one, they will spin. 😀1
-
Noticed my RAM usage was around 41% when just browsing internet. So, getting more RAM was a good move, until I saw the usage shoot to 52%.
And you already know who eats that much RAM.
PS: Maybe it's some extension, because I just have 2 tabs open and killing that process didn't kill any tab.8 -
Is it because my browsing history already suggests I am a retard who sucks at programming?
YouTube now show this whenever I click any video about web dev :(
"You need a website. Why not do it yourself. ... choosing from more than 100 templates... "12 -
Just been browsing Awwwards about websites: https://www.awwwards.com/websites/
All of that is unusable crap and achieves "clean" design mostly by not having functionality. The trick seems to be a useless fat image and tucking away functionality as small as possible. This is design wankery.6 -
So I was browsing through some Redis docs and I find this. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO SPELL KOREA!!!!6

No offence to anyone but I'm wondering why so many people go for Google chrome while chromium browser provides about the exact same browsing experience and speed etc but without Google's proprietary tracking shit. I know not everyone cares about their privacy but still wondering.13

FR rant
Warning : Do not use devRant in the lavatory, especially the shower.
So i was browsing devRant in the lavatory like a normal human being (?) and saw a post super funny, laughed so hard, and dropped the phone. Now the bottom left of my phone doesnt work.
So i was browsing devRant in the lavatory like a normal human being (?), went inside a shower without noticing that i went into the shower, turned on the faucet without noticing that i turned in the faucet, and i was attacked by fierce water with the pressure level 10 (10 is the max). Then i found out my favorite snoopy t shirt, which i wore just before coming into the lavatory, is wet. Completely. And water is dripping from my phone's charging port, but works flawlessly for 5 days.
So i was browsing devRant in the lavatory like a normal human being (?), writing this rant, and just because i feel tired, i moved a little bit and got my bottoms all wet which feels so bad...
So the final thing i would like to say is a feature request. Please check whether the user is in the shower or not. Lavatory is fine. But shower is not. You can use thr data retrieved from thw humidity sensor.

Am I the only one that devRant almost completely replaced Reddit for the "I'm currently waiting on something so I'm browsing" spot?

Had been hunting for a "modern" editor, mostly for browsing code and quick edits. Can't believe that the one that actually fit my requirements was Microsoft's VS Code. On Linux!14

The overreach by a single company near or close to near monopoly on the internet is beyond bone chilling.
To be precise, I am talking about Google extending its reach by forcing people to use AMP in the webpages.
I get insta furious when i see my favorite webpages using them and effectively my entire browsing activity on that page is happily recorded for clicks and ads.
To just bypass that i have to unnecessarily add more and more addons to lock them out of my browsing which in turn WEAKENS my entire browser.
And sincerely saying, this sort of outreach is becoming really annoying. Because plain JS and Cookie Blocking will not work. and slowly people are running out of options.
If posts about AMP are being made earlier, I apologize.8 -
Wtf is wrong with me. I notice that I start opening devRand and browsing post more ofter than facebook. 😂😂3

Here's what being in a rut is like:
You wake up to the alarm, you waste an hour or two in bed stalling browsing social shit. Finally got out of bed. You have a todo list. You ignore it. Get something to eat. Open Netflix or some brain numbing shit while having breakfast. A few hours go by, you're still watching Netflix and switching to browsing social shit in-between so your brain is numb as much as possible. It's lunch time, you're supposed to cook something, nah, I will order something. Oh, it's bedtime, let's make a todo list and go to bed and start over tomorrow...5 -

I was browsing through xkcd when I came across this comic. Then I realised that a line break after every sentence is actually what I do when writing something in LaTeX. It has no effect in the end but I feel like it makes the document clearer while working with it. Anyone else who does this? ^^'1

- Police IT dpt takes a burned down computer (literally burned down -- black from the smoke), plug it into the mains and remove a graphics card. To collect evidence from.
- A policeman from IT dpt is browsing some company's website (while at the police station), looking at their clients. Address bar says: 127.0.0.1.
- The police hacker is browsing some forum. She got the post author's IP and MAC addresses from that forum post metainfo.

During the meting DevOps were discussing some problem, suddenly a PM spoke up "I am browsing SO right now and someone already had time problem before and it was answered. I don't know what XYZ is but why you didn't google the problem at first place."

Most of my friends think that leaving the browser opened on 3G will keep consuming data. In fact they also think that browsing as fast as possible will leave them with more available data on the mobile plan.4

Oh my God I'm a failure. Been working on this booking system backend for two weeks, refactored some code, and now it doesn't work at all.

So I found some weird library included in this legacy code, didn't really get what it does and why it's there though.
Turns out there's nothing to be found on the internet about it. Absolutely nothing.
So after browsing through the directory structure a bit more I discover a README file. Hoping for answers I opened it, only to find this...3 -
Wtf firefox ? are you serious ?
I made an extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/...) that uses the Storage API to store preferences. In their website the permission section it displayed "Access your data for all websites". Some guy gave 1 star and let this message "This does not need all my browsing information."
For firefox I'm worst than facebook. Get your facts right.1 -
Changing the native browser scrollbar should warrant the death penalty.
Do not make it narrower. Do not make the colors blend with the background. Do not hijack it its functionality. Do not minimize it until I hover.
I am so fucking tired of websites that think they are in charge of my browsing "experience" and hide or otherwise marginalize the single most useful part of the page's UI.4 -
I was at Argos a few days back. After browsing I went over to one of the machines to order. Just as I was about to search for the item I required the program crashed... Bloody NullPointerException! I spent the next 20 minutes reading the error message working out what the issue was wishing I could access the codebase and fix it.
Has anyone else experienced this uncontrollable urge?1 -
I remember the time when netbooks were a thing. An affordable device for easy tasks like web browsing. It’s in the name!
Excuse me, what? The web? It’s heavier than some games now! All thanks to React.js and stupid frontend framework boom of 2016.
Frontend people, wake up. Modern JS has everything you need. It’s time to switch to Web Components.36 -

There is this company that saves your information, before you have even registered.
If you merely fill in a field, they will save it to their database. Not even saving/submitting it, just filling it in.
So when you then visit their store, they already know stuff about you (if you gave enough unique identifiers, like phonenumber or email adress) and recommend stuff based on your browsing of their website5 -
I seem to have terrible spelling when it comes to being on devRant, it's a curse!
But then again when I'm browsing devRant my code ends up cleaner... Hmmm -
Some feature suggestions:
- Customise order of tabs in new UI
- Highlighting of a rant's OP when browsing comments
- Update screenshots on Google Play & App Store2 -
When you are all alone at office, stuck with tons of work, nothing to cheer up, browsing every single keyword because you are dumbest person and with millions tabs opened up in multiple windows..

sudo rm /ce/2017
sudo touch /ce/2018 -
Today I was enjoying a coffee and browsing the Internet on my phone for information on making mulled wine (planning on brewing some and wasn't sure whether to add ingredients during the fermentation stage or after) and came across this incredible example of what is wrong with websites these days.
I actually didn't spot the "close" for the subscription popup before leaving the page and later reviewing the screenshot.1 -
What on earth are some developers thinking. Was just browsing the Casio website, using Chrome and noticed the following message. How hard is it to display a message when actually needed, instead of all the time. Good watches, poor development :/2

Me: Browsing DevRant
Me: seeing recent post of @Phlisg
Mhhh 🤔
Why didn't I rant about this?
I literally called myself Json because my name is Jason and there is JSON.
Btw @EaZyCode made fun of me because of this years ago1 -
I really hope that the Raspberry Pi 4 is going to have more performance than the models of the "third gen". I would probably use it as a desktop computer when it's just for browsing and chatting, as opposed to my current PC which I'm sure draws a lot of power while idling or having only little to do.5

The craziest thing happened today
I havemy environment studies test today so spent the last night studying so now even after 3 cups of coffee everything feels like third person. So in the metro i am browsing dev rant and so zoned that i miss my stop by three stops!!
Guess climate change is indeed affecting ourselves -
Browsing Reddit for weird porn back stories and you stumble upon the efficiency regarding loops
P.S. - the comments has more9 -
Ffs... installed devRant, checked my long forgotten twatter, looked at my fb and now I can't stop browsing soc media. In 2 hours I managed to write only 10 lines of code 💩7

Developing solely on a VM sucks big time. To last the month with my credits I use a crappy 2 core machine. Atleast half a day every week is spent browsing my phone while waiting for the vm to respond 😣 (right now)2

I'm so used to using IDEs that I'm expecting double tapped words to highlight other instances of the same words while browsing the web 😅1

1. start up my monitors, have one monitor streaming news while the other one is browsing devRant.
2. drink an ungodly amount of caffeine
3. crash so hard that I have an excuse not to code and go back to bed. -
Compiling on Windows feels like an Internet Browsing Simulator.
Really shows how incredible the central Repository and System Package Managment systems of Unix are.
Now... Back to downloading the remainder of the required libraries.7 -
@dfox
There's one thing I hate about devrant...
While I'm browsing posts I can't check back for my posts or exit the app or I'll have to scroll down again (gets messy after like 50)
That means I just stop watching for the rest of the day.
Suggestions:
3rd button to mark as seen and don't show on post lists
Add a mark on last seen post so it will continue there when we return to browsing.
Thank you for this community once again9 -
That confusing moment when you've spent two hours browsing devrant.
You feel like you've wasted your time, but at the same time know it was worth it.1 -
I was away from devRant for more than six months. It is good to be back. How I missed this!
Just spent hour browsing through the rants. So refreshing. Also so many improvements and new features to devRant, developers are busy.3 -
You wake up early on Saturday to pee and you have a bunch of alerts in your inbox about failing dependencies in production. But you haven’t gotten any call or text from your boss. What do you do?
Well, I started browsing devRant while waiting for the next scheduled alert hoping my brethren on the other end of the systems resolve it and I wouldn’t have to login.1 -
I wanted to add a simple gallery for our website.
I started browsing open source alternatives.
Result: "Depens on jquery, depends on node, depends on bla bla bla... Fuck it... I'l just make one myself."2 -
You come to work 2 hours early to continue a project that needs to launch next Friday.
40 minutes later you're still eating breakfast and browsing DevRant.
The coding hour has already hit and the day hasn't even started.4 -
I was browsing on this website called ebay-kleinanzeigen.de and got redirected to this wonderful page.

I was browsing the jobs secion on SO, and came across a position looking for a 'Python Software Engineer.' WHAAAAA? PYTHON IS A FUCKING SCRIPTING LANGUAGE! SINCE WHEN IS IT SUITABLE FOR SOFTWARE ENGINEERING?23

I swear I'll snap if someone tells me it's weird that I resize applications to be taller than they are wide. I keep them that way because widescreen monitors came into existence when computers became mainstream and the market shifted to the plebs who only used them to watch videos and wanted to not see any bars on screen, and now we all have to suffer.
Web pages are organized vertically so it makes no sense for me to browse the web in full screen, it wastes space where otherwise all the content is contained and distraction free, most pages strip the side-bars so you'll also see a few less ads. I can also use and organize multiple apps how I want. Small thing too but browsing the web in full screen means pages can find the exact dimensions of your screen and learn more about you (I don't care about this but it's also worth mentioning).
I promise you there are so many good reasons to not use apps in full screen.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.17 -
I was browsing through devrant on my phone OP 5t and I noticed a small white pixel near the notification bar
I was shit scared, cause I got a history of damaged LCD with my previous phone.
I tried opening other apps with full screen no change.
Checked lcd test from hardware diagnostics tests.
The white pixel disappeared by itself.2 -
I finish at my current role on Thursday
Really can't be bothered to create more work for myself.
I'm basically doing the occasional work and browsing DevRant :) -
An idea for a website:
A page where you paste a github url and it clones the repository on the server and presents it to you with a IDE interface, lets you apply little changes and build it.
A "development environment as a service", in few words. Seriously, browsing github files is a pain and I can't obviously clone all the interesting projects I want to explore!7 -
I've been browsing devRant for a while now, and it's a really warm community, so i wanted to ask a question. I want to get into C programming and don't know where to start. Could someone point out somewhere good to start?12

I am afraid to search anything on google without private mode. Once I used to search universities on normal browsing. But once I started to find lots of universities ads on my browsing, I was afraid. Now I am using incognito mode since year. But I am afraid how secure our private browsing is because our browsing activities is still visible to ISPs. Fwak this world.10

You know you are addicted to devRant when in a Sweet Sixteen party (actually 15yo here in Brazil), you have a glass of Scotch, my daughter sleeping in my lags and are still browsing devRant...4

Today me :

To anyone who was asking about my github and the devrant tampermonkey filter - I finally linked it now on devrant (most browsing the devrant github issues, probably guessed it anyway) and I am now going to finally again start trying to give back to the github community - which is basically what I had planned to do in 2018! really excited to start fresh again! 😊4 -
ADHD related rant:

So in Chrome, "resume browsing" doesn't actually mean resume browsing, it means "take a shit in the top right corner of my screen and kick it about a bit".
Must be satisfying to create a feature and know that 10 million people open it by accident every day and swear at it.3 -
I once spent a full month browsing the internet and doing fuck all. When they eventually noticed and laid down the law threatening me. I resigned. I’d already started working my self employment, just needed to cover another months salary. I fucking won that one. No cunt gets the better of me!2

I decided to try and see if I can live on my 3GB mobile data plan for work and study today. For 3 hours, I just burnt 200MB by ssh, whatsapp, telegram, browsing forums to fix ticket, and reading manuals.

Why are there so many "curated list of X" on Github? I really liked browsing the trending page because I found several gems of OSS in it. But nowadays it seems chinese course materials, "curated lists" and so-called "H4Xx0r-Res0urces" share the space on the trending page. Has Facebook arrived on Github?2

If I spent as much time writing code as I did browsing Reddit I would actually be good at it by now1

Fun fact: in macOS Safari, you can copy text from images. It works on videos as well when you press pause and wait five seconds. This is the next-level web browsing UX — now I can copy text from an image on the internet and paste it anywhere I want.7

I want to code something today but don't want to get into it then have visitors show up.... Now I'm downloading Christmas music (FLAC in highest quality possible of course) and just browsing reddit.2

Just reported a minor tracking bug I found on WebKit to the WebKit bugzilla, and I have a few thoughts:
1. Apple product security can be kind of vague sometimes - they generally don't comment on bugs as they're fixing them, from the looks of it, and I'm not sure why that is policy.
2. Tracking bugs *are* security bugs in WebKit, which is quite neat in a way. What amazes me is how Firefox has had a way to detect private browsing for years that they are still working on addressing (indexedDB doesn't work in private browsing), and chrome occasionally has a thing or two that works, with Safari, Apple consistently plays whack-a-mole with these bugs - news sites that attempt to detect private browsing generally have a more difficult time with Safari/WebKit than with other browsers.
I guess a part of that could be bragging rights - since tracking bugs (and private browsing detection bugs, I think) count as security bugs, people like yours truly are more incentivised to report them to Apple because then you get to say "I found a security bug", and internal prioritisation is also higher for them. -
I remember when first iPhone came out, The only broken shit while browsing was panning and pinching(most of the pages did not have responsive design) but they worked. Now every fucking webpage is mobile friendly, except all of them are fucking broken! You don't have safari or Chrome? Then fuck you! Here you have this BIG fucking button that does not work. Fuck all SPA!1

This is the dire future of computing I suppose!
I have a windows 10 laptop, the operating systems "windows" folder is 31GB in size and the "program files" folder is 1GB in size.
Total used space is 80Gb.
I mostly use it for e-mails and browsing. Doesn't this seem unnecessarily bloated for an operating system?77 -
Oh shit... My XPS 13 seems to slowly approach it's EOL :(
It has lost power 3 times already since yesterday. The last time it shut down while I was browsing BIOS (UEFI) settings, on a charger...

Google researchers have exposed details of multiple security flaws in Safari web browser that allowed user's browsing behavior to be tracked.
According to a report : The flaws which were found in an anti-tracking feature known as Intelligent Tracking Prevention, were first disclosed by Google to Apple in August last year. In a published paper, researchers in Google's cloud team have identified five different types of attacks that could have resulted from the vulnerabilities, allowing third parties to obtain "sensitive private information about the user's browsing habits."
Apple rolled out Intelligent Tracking Prevention in 2017, with the specific aim of protecting Safari browser users from being tracked around the web by advertisers and other third-party cookies.2 -

Unpopular Opinion but
sometimes I feel that the pay should be based on how much you contributed to the project not by the titles or your highest education level.
So no fucks given if you are master degree holder or 4yr experience. If you did more work this month, your pay will be higher. If you wasted your whole month browsing reddit your pay will be lower.7 -

I was casually browsing some issues for a project on github, and I certainly across an issue where someone wanted support for for URI handling (there's a good reason for his request).
I was bored, and I just wrote a script to do exactly that. I'm gonna polish it on Sunday, and then upload it, (plus add a PR). -

It's 2022 and web browsers are still unable to unfollow redirects.
If I open some URL in a new tab and it redirects me to /503.html or similar due to some server errors (which is bad design to begin with), there is no way to see which URL was redirected from. The "back" (←) navigation button is greyed out, so there is nowhere to go back to.
One might open a new tab to look at it later without realizing it redirected to an error page. Then one opens it, sees /503.html, and has forgotten which article one was going to read.
Only on the mobile edition of Chrome/Chromium, switching between desktop and mobile view unfollows the redirect. But on Firefox mobile, Chrome/Chromium-based desktop, and Firefox desktop, there is no way to know which URL redirected me there. -
Just spent 10min trying to figure out why everything was broken in Chrome after refactoring custom CSS to its own page, and the header to its own JSP... I forgot to clear my browsing history and thought it was broken everywhere but IE.1

I saw through times when having a computer at home was considered luxury.
I saw the days when there was no cellphones and only landline phones; One per house.
I saw the days when the internet was a thing that was only used to check emails; In browsing centres and offices.
Wait. All these in less than 2 decades!!
I feel ancient :(1 -

How did mid-2000s computer users get along with just 1 GB of RAM or less?
As of today, anything less than 8 GB of RAM seems impractical. A handful of tabs in a web browser and file manager can quickly fill that up.
Shortly after booting, 2 GB of RAM are already eaten up on today's operating systems.
When I occasionally used an older laptop computer with 6 GB of RAM (because it has more ports and better repairability than today's laptops; before upgrading the memory), most of the time over 5 GB were in use, and that did not even include disk caching.
It appears that today's web browsers are far more memory-intensive than 2000s web browsers, even if we do similar things people did in the 2000s: browsing text-based pages with some photos here and there, watching videos, messaging and mailing, forum posting, and perhaps gaming. Tabbed browsing already was a thing in the 2000s. Microsoft added tabs to their pre-installed browser in 2006, back when an average personal computer had 1 GB of RAM, and an average laptop 512 MB!
Perhaps a difference is that people today watch in 720p or 1080p whereas in the 2000s, people typically watched at 240p, 360p, or 480p, but that still does not explain this massive difference. (Also, I pick a low resolution anyway when mostly listening to a video in background.)
One could create a swap file to extend system memory, though that is not healthy for an SSD in the long term. On computers, RAM is king.14 -
While I was browsing the server through a ftp client, it froze for a sec and the next thing i notice is that a folder is missing. It was then when i found out the "drag'n'drop" feature.. So does devrant save all your rants?
Apparently I'm super narcissistic and enjoy reading my old rants and the responses to them. A lot. And I'm browsing through, clicking, reading all the old comments (you guys are really great, I love reading your comments) and I realize at the bottom of the list of my rants theres no pagination, no infinite scroll. Little question: is it just me that does not get the notification when browsing with the browser? If I go here (https://www.devrant.io/feed/recent) I see no notifications in the top left icon (the one that opens the menu) but if I go on the app, BAM! new notifications waiting.

Perhaps the plugin structure as well, but that's more architecture than code.1
