Pun of the day
Boss: I heard your colleagues hate dealing with code you wrote. Why?
Me: No comment16 -
HTML: Hate This Meaningless Life
CSS: Can't Style Shit
JS: Just Shit
Java: Just another vicious asshole
PHP: PHP Hates People
Go: (the "fuck yourself" is silent)
.NET: Now Everybody Thinks (they can code)
I really should find a more productive thing to do on my breaks.19 -
I hate those fucking sites which make you login first and then redirect to their home page.
FOR FUCK'S SAKE, ITS 2017. CANT YOU BASTARDS WRITE A FEW LINES OF CODE SO THAT I AM AUTOMATICALLY REDIRECTED TO WHERE I WAS AND I NEED NOT BACKSPACE EVERY TIME I LOGIN?9 -
I really hate it when we have to wear formal dress to office. I feel like a marketing executive. My code stares at me with suspicious looks.11
-
Today we had a yearly company photoshoot... Fucking hate it..
Anyhow, the guy walked around office to take pictures of us in 'action'. However as a precaution he couldn't take pictures of the source code... So I was like:17 -
My experience while learning C#:
>trying to print an HTML element of a website to console
>doesn't work
>why
>changes a few things in code
>runs code multiple times
>still doesn't work
>looks closely at code
>wait a second
>walks to wireless printer
>finds nearly 10 pieces of paper on the floor
>I hate myself5 -
GUESS WHAT? HE WANTS ANOTHER FUCKING FEATURE!
AND WHEN I SAID I DIDN’T HAVE TIME BECAUSE CODE-COMPLETE IS TOMORROW, HE SAID HE’LL PUNT IT TO NEXT YEAR INSTEAD OF RELEASING IT THIS WEEK SO I CAN “BUILD IT RIGHT.” MAN, FUCK YOU AND YOUR ENDLESS CHANGES!
THIS WAS GOING TO BE A TWO WEEK TICKET UNTIL HE STARTED ADDING ENDLESS FEATURES AND CHANGES AND SURPRISES. IT’S BEEN FUCKING MONTHS! I AM SICK OF THIS SHIT!
ANSDFKAWHOALIKWEGJFADIO;UGJT;
There goes my Q4 performance review.
> “Accomplishments? Oh, there’s lots of room here. Accomplished: Basically nothing. How embarrassing.”
Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate20 -
I really hate people who prefer this coding style:
if (condition)
{
// something shitty here
}
Instead of this:
if(condition){
// perfectly clean code
}41 -
*has finals to study for*
Me: I could study... Or I could write my website..
*create new project*
'git init'5 -
I hate when people look at me weird when I talk sexy to my code. It's like how do you not find this sexy. Lol I'm in class like awww yeah pull that input and increment it you dirty software.9
-
As a backend dev, I have this habit of just dropping script & style tags all over the place, and using inline style attributes on divs.
Then when I'm done I just link the code to a frontend dev, they'll hate it so much it will be cleaned up within minutes.13 -
Wife has taken me to IKEA to get her wardrobe she wanted.
I hate IKEA...
She's finally given in and taken my suggestion to leave me at the cafe to code.
Happy now!17 -
I just got handed a legacy php web project... Full of vulnerabilities... And it's using only mysql_ functions... Not only it's not OOP, there is not even a single class...
How good it's coded: User profiles are created manually by the frontend dev as htmls, and then the past php dev implemented them as links etc in the current page.
This is how I feel:5 -
!dev
!!misery
I'm drunk, so it's time for some faux-emotional, blunt oversharing. and lots of profanity. It won't be pretty.
------
I'm miserable. I can't sleep at night. When I finally manage to, I sleep like crap. In the morning, early, I get woken up by my children screaming or pulling my hair or jumping on either the bed or me, or talking ad furore, or any number of other miserably unpleasant things that completely prevent sleep. So I'm tired every single day, which totally surprisingly makes focusing on work fucking difficult. Doubly so because the work is fucking uninteresting and the code is awful to read and difficult to understand because it's complicated and often poorly written. And extending it takes enormous mental effort I simply do not have to give. Oh! Guess what my job is?
To make matters worse, time to myself basically does not exist, ever. I wake up, I attend standup, I cook and eat breakfast, I work while fighting against endless distractions and interruptions, I cook and eat dinner, I work some more, and finally: I can go to bed and try to sleep. The next morning, I wake up and repeat this misery, ad nauseam.
Et ad nauseam? Nauseam est nunc.
It's not proper latin, but fuck you. it's good enough. and nobody speaks it anyway.
Ego sum miseriae. Is that good enough for you?
I can't find it in myself to care about anything. I've been doing whatever I can to feel a little more normal, but mostly I just feel numb. If I drink, it helps a little because I notice my misery a little less. That's a great solution right there: drink until I don't care anymore, and keep doing the same shit without even trying to make things better. Why? Because I fucking can't. I hate this house, I hate the lack of quiet, I hate this city, I hate the dust and the clutter, I hate this state, I hate this codebase, I don't like my coworkers, I hate that I can't get a fucking thing done without spending 6x longer than it should, I hate that I can't fucking think of a single thing I want to do, I hate that I can't ever enjoy anything, I hate that I'm beginning to hate myself, and I fucking hate everything else, too.
In short:
I'm not happy. I'm fucking miserable.
And no, I'm not posting this here for you to psychoanalyze me or suggest solutions. It's for me to vent. Fuck your opinions and fuck your advice and fuck you.29 -
i really hate when i have to read someone else's shity code ... I'd rather write the entire code from scratch -_- !9
-
I hate Microsoft!
But i gotta say, VS Code is a really good IDE. Guess they should've gone open source a long time ago14 -
I just came across some code I wrote a year ago that I don't entirely hate.
I'm legitimately a bit worried.2 -
I fucking hate being the "ask me anything" guy in the office, how am I supposed to code if people interrupt me every 5 minutes?
OH LOOK AT MY HEADPHONES! MAYBE I'M CONCENTRATED AND HAVE SHIT TO DO! I mean there are other 10 devs, why don't you go to them? or maybe try to GOOGLE IT, I HEARD STACK OVERFLOW IS GOOD YOU PIECE OF SHIT!
don't get me wrong, I like to help people but I hate when those bastards come asking questions that could be easily answered if they read the code for 5 fucking minutes.
when I have to look at code that is not mine I try to understand it by myself, even if it's not documented, and I try not to bother anyone unless is really necessary.
But then this sluggish leeches think I know the whole codebase and that can interrupt me whenever they can.7 -
Oh the ups and down of learning code. One day you feel like a programming prodigy, the next you hit a concept that makes you feel like you'll never become a professional programmer. So much to learn!!!! 😭😭7
-
I hate when someone compares two languages depending on which one gives a "Hello world" with less lines of code.6
-
Unpopular dev opinion:
I like ending lines of code with semicolons. It helps add structure and organization. My code feels naked without them. After learning to code in JavaScript and Java, it's force of habit to put them, and python's lack of them is one of the reasons I hate it's syntax
Maybe I'm old fashioned. All the hipster languages either make semicolons optional or usually actively discourage them
Idk I like them though13 -
I'm done with f/e. I so fucking hate it .
I fucking hate implementing weird highly animated websites designed by gurus
I fucking hate making them accessible.
I hate working on weird code generated by my coworkers and jump on projects with 0 specs.
I fucking hate this whole bloatware called javascript.
I fucking hate morons who think they know it all.
I'm fucking disgusted by the job market with their whole job specs ( Oh you don't have 5 year experience in some fucking stupid library I don't give a flying fuck. Too bad, we can't hire you )
And most importantly I fucking hate the day I chose f/e development instead of smth else.
Now at 29 I'm fucking stuck with this shit with no energy and patience to learn something else or at least jump on b/e or anything that is not related to web dev or js.
Sorry for so many fuckings but I had a breakdown.
Love ya.25 -
Visual Studio Code. I went in expecting to hate it, but gave it a chance due to good reviews. Been hooked for months now.
Surprised to see Microsoft create such a slick Dev tool.4 -
Why I Love To Code ???
I Hate Programming 🤨
I Hate Programming 😧
I Hate Programming 😰
.
.
.
Oh Fuck ! it worked..
I Love Programming5 -
I've been using atom for a long time. At work I recently switched to visual studio code. I really hate Microsoft... But I really love visual studio code!14
-
if (questionAsked) {
retuen "It depends...";
}
I hate it I hate it I hate it
But it's true because there are a fuckton of factors that determine the answer to a question and nobody ever knows all of them.
I can rarely answer a question from classmates or non-techs without saying that it depends or that there are multiple options.
"Are statics ever good?" It depends
"Should I inject this dependency?" It depends
"Should I google every question first?" It depends
I fear giving a whole answer without knowing the details or at least seeing the code. I've come across multiple XY problems and I'm glad I took the time to look at some code first.12 -
I hate that fucking feeling, when I am 9001% certain that the bug is caused by the shitty framework because I tested every detail and could exclude my code as the culprit, but later realize it was in fact myself, because I overlooked one pissing line.
Holy fuck.1 -
I fucking hate it when I see videos or read articles saying "you don't need a powerful laptop for development"
Do you even code?
From mobile to web Dev. Every tool now demands a lot ram and cpu power to run.
You at least have an ide and chrome open. These with the OS can reach the 8gb ram limit.
Also the screen, you need atleast a 1080p! I had a 15in 768p laptop for 5 years. I hated development on that.
Fucking hate people who think we can develop on a potato.32 -
Stop reading articles on which framework/library is better, pick one and start actually writing code.
... Only to then discover that this library is utterly broken and/or undocumented and you have to start over again.
GODDAMNIT JS I HATE YOUR ASS7 -
I never made a friend due to code.
Either I fucking hate people if I see their code or I respect them.
But getting a friend because of code seems to me rather unrealistic.
Maybe I could get a female code groupie, if I write code little bit more lovely and sexy.
Ask me again in a year.15 -
Reviewer1 asked me to change something in my code. Reviewer2 asked me to revert the changes I made for Reviewer1. I hate this industry </32
-
the effort to get girls, and children for that matter into programming has been terrible. I never thought I could find something worse than code.org, but here it is: SmartGurlz (because what could be smarter than spelling your own gender wrong, right?). this was on shark tank and this lady was making robots to try to get girls into programming. they pretty much control dolls on wheels by means of scratch. it's terrible. first of all, how the fuck is that profitable? when a little girl wants to play dolls, what kind of girl wants to *program* it first. jesus, no kid wants that.
second, this girls who code thing makes me barf. the thought process for many organizations trying to push girls to code is "hmm, if we isolate girls and give them lower standards, then maybe they'll decide to go into a male-dominated industry," because, fuck logic right? idiocy is dreadful. lastly, what I hate most about so many of the girls coding organizations, is the fact that they have to embrace the stereotypes. almost every single one cares about "feelings" or something similar. its bullshit.
and don't get me wrong, women should have equal opportunity, but pushing them into stem fields isn't good. bias in the workplace is what we should be talking about, or other topics like women being paid less. trying to make girls interested in programming is complete bullshit, let them do what they want.
back to "SmartGurlz," I looked them up and they confirmed what I expected. the first thing I see? not anything related to programming whatsoever, but different dolls wearing different outfits. girls deserve something better, and shouldn't have to deal with organizations trying to push them into something they don't want to do.8 -
Do you know what i hate most?
... commented old code!
What is the fucking purpose to comment old code IF YOU ARE USING A VERSION CONTROL SYSTEM?????
Commented old code is shit, because it fucks the readibility! I saw entire class full of this shit!
DELETE IT, YOU DON'T LOSE IT YOU MORON!!!!5 -
I really hate it when people asks for help on forums and mailing lists by taking a screen capture of code instead of pasting the text or using a gist or pastebin or any other USEFUL way to share code.2
-
My day in one sentence: I found about 20 ways in which my code doesn't work as expected.
I hate these days, where you spend 80% of the time debugging and always find tiny new bugs.5 -
i fucking hate when people just make tutorials with powerpoint slides explaining and talking for hours ughhhhh just shut the fuck up and show me the fucking code u fuckin mouth fucker6
-
I really hate fucking Wordpress!
I hate it's stupid API, with it's stupid hooks and actions and all those stupid functions and no fucking logic to any of it!
I hate it's stupid plugin system, with all that fucking overhead that brings no real value and adds all that complexity for nothing!
I hate stupid fucking multiple calls for the same fucking assets, loading them over and over again because every stupid plugin calls them again and again!
I hate motherfucking SHORTTAGS, or whatever the fuck they are called!
I hate that every stupid fucking plugin and shortcode and fucking every little fucking piece of HTML comes from a different fucking place, with different fucking structure and different fucking classes and stupid fucking loading seaquences that make no fucking sense!
And I hate fucking page builders !!!!!
Fuck!!!!
I should be fucking coding on this fucking peace of shit, but I just cannot fucking take it any more!!!
IT NEEDS TO FUCKING DIE!
It should be relegated to the darkest corners of the internet and all the servers that have it's fucking code anyware on their systems should be disconnected and buried in the deepest pits of hell, just to be sure it never, EVER, surfaces again!!!
AAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!5 -
*Me after writing a piece of code and praying to god that there are no errors.*
My pc: 1 error(s) found.
Me : "I hate coding. I hate coding. I hate coding."
*Tries everything to solve that problem.*
My pc: No errors found.
Me: "I love coding.Yay xD"2 -
I have a love and hate relationship with programming. You'll see me as the happiest and most motivated person ever. The next minute, you'll see me as an extremely depressed suicidal person. Then when a code works, I jump like hell.1
-
bladder: I got to pee.
me: NO! To deep in code zone.
[20 mins pass]
bladder: I got to pee.
me: NO! Let me finish this.
[30 mins pass]
bladder: I'VE GOT TO PEE
me: NO! In a zone.
[5 mins pass]
bladder: GO! GO! GO!
me: D**n you bladder.
I hate this game. I lose every time.7 -
The more I play with C, the more I realize why many people hate C++.
I like the amount of control and the simplicity. No unnecessary syntax sugar, and the code is very straightforward to read.11 -
I fucking hate this country. I hate this place. I hate these people.
I have to wait for seconds for chrome to even show up, I can't browse shit. VS Code fucks it up like I'm tryna solve some quantum formulas but in reality IT JUST HAVE TO OPEN A FUCKIN PROJECT FOLDER.
I hate the fact that I need to work for months to afford a decent computer, MBP or XPS isn't even a dream for me.
Wanna buy a XPS? Good. Now work for 10 months even without spending a dime. MBP? It just become 20.
Why did I have to be born in this fucking shithole part of the world? I could've just born dead, that would be less painful.17 -
Dear Google, please notify devs before you overhaul apis in Android, I hate updating my api level and then my code won't build, this ia extremely shitty, where I have to now update random Android code because of deprecated apis, Shit Google.3
-
I hate it when people start giving me condolences when my code doesn't run. What are you? A console?
-
Ok. Let do a little tag game.
Whoever is taggedhas to learn a programming language specified by the tagger.
You then have to code a small programm in that language here on devrant in 24h. If you fail, schtroustrupp will hate you...
I start by tagging... Who am i gonna tag...
Mhh...
Lets start with @Linux
You have 24h to code a program in gerCompiler (i need to advertise my projects, yknow)33 -
I realized how overly complicated I wrote certain object oriented code a few months ago and now I have to work around it...
I over engineered it... I became the very developer I hate5 -
I hate it when code line are structured like this.Get().Start().Trim().Where(a=>a.id = newId).ToList().ConvertAll(...).EndMaybe().Name
Are you a fkin compiler or what3 -
No work experience: I'm gonna be the best programmer in the world. My code is beautiful. This is my passion.
After 1-2 years experience: just f@#$!ng work pls so i can go home goddamit i hate my life im hungry f@$!% everyone.4 -
I really love how beautiful code can be, and the feeling of creating something for others or yourself to enjoy. But I hate being the family's IT guy... I'm a developer not IT support.4
-
I am using VS Codium instead of VS Code to see what kind of things change when you scrape the Microsoft out of it. Apparently some tools for dotnet core like debugging are locked down and only allowed to run in Microsoft made IDEs.
I hate the sneaky Microsoft API lockdown nonsense and will be steering future projects away from any dotnet core development. I thought this was dead in VS Code but they managed to sneak it in.6 -
I hate every IDE. Cab I just use something that doesn't take minutes to open to write my code, please.17
-
Some people hate a language due to problem they faced while using it. I simply hate some language because code written in it doesn't looks good.4
-
i kinda hate my job, but i also enjoy my job. i hate that I'm overworked, i like being recognized for my competence. i hate the bosses, love my colleagues. i hate the shitty code i have to maintain, but i love making something better to substitute it.2
-
I hate it when people whine about code reviews. You should never take it personally. We're not against you, we just want good solid code.
I really hate it when it's my boss who's bitching about pull requests. When you throw your hands up and start yelling, "Well I'm blocked, I'm blocked," then you're not helping. You're just being a baby.1 -
I fucking hate online editors for recruitment challanges!!
2 fucking hours I spend on developing a architectural problem but nothing came up on stdout!!
Why? Because the runtime added some functions to HELP me with stdin and stdouts. They were being called by the driverscripts and reading everything up beforehand!!
I was reading empty stdin from there!!!
Worst part is the code was kept at the last of the editor space hidden as a gray shade with no indication that there was code minimized.
After fucking my brain so long, realised the issue when I had 2 mins left!
Ended up with a compilation error while hurrying to change!!
I hate the hackerrank platform!!🤬🤬🤬😡🤯1 -
I (don't) like how some people say "If your code needs comments, your code is probably ugly and should be rewritten".
Well, asshats. You have never considered complex calculations/functions or "temporary" workarounds, right?
Sometimes, you have to do it in a not-very-readable way for efficiency. There is no way around that in that case, and comments that either explain the code below or provide alternative, slower code that's commented really help others understand your code.
If I ever work with you and you don't bother commenting your code at all (or rather use slow code because more efficient code doesn't appeal to your "muh code dun need comments" approach), I will hate you.6 -
Worked so many hours on a bug. Some manager thinks my code is too complicated. He asked my coworker to take my pr, then remove all logic that handles many edge cases. Now the shit is merged 😂. I hate my job8
-
I can't code
So 3 things i hate because i can't code. #selfrant
1. My father was a programmer in the 80-90ties. So he forced me at 11 years old to do a stupid "Java for Kids" book. You had to write sooooo much verbose code just that a stupid grey button would appear that looked ugly. I really really hated it.
2. Now I'm a graphic designer by trade. The first time I came in contact with something useful code related was in 2011. https://processing.org the generative design framework. It looked glorious! But it was in Java! I hated it.
3. I hate that i can't code because I'm dependend on you guys to get my design to become alive. Thanks to 3 years on devRant, the days arguing with a lazy dev that something can't be done is thankfully gone.6 -
I hate professors who say "they know everything" but cant eveb teach a class how to properly code.
We survived with self studying2 -
I hate these idiots that post source code examples as an image just so they can keep their cool highlighting and style. How the fuck am I supposed to test that without re-typing the whole thing myself? Ever try OCR on source code? Not too great, is it.12
-
I have no idea how this code that I wrote last year work and there's obviously no documentation but thankfully I gave my classes very useful names such as "YuDoDis", "Texter467", "TheHolyButton", "GARBAGE", etc. Fucking hate myself sometimes.3
-
I freaking hate school curriculums, I have only 5 classes this semester, only two of them are career related and one is about QA, I want to focus on my code, projects, things that really matter but instead I have to do Socials homework, learn how to do research papers, learn about marketing. I really hate this. Besides the classes I have on development are extremely light. And I have to pay for this crap12
-
git commit message that I hate:
1. "Adjustment"
2. "Improvement"
3. "Fix Bug"
4. "I commit it but there are bug in this code"
5. "Client request"
YOU KNOW BE MORE SPECIFIC ON YOUR COMMIT MESSAGE!!!9 -
Dynamically typed languages suck. God I hate them
It's like one big clunky free for all. I don't understand how people can work in Python or even JavaScript and tell me that they're good languages with a straight face
Not having proper autocomplete or documentation (a somewhat seperate issue of Python) is a kick in the stomach for productivity.
I've seen people advocate for using EXTERNAL DOCUMENTATION VIEWERS. WHAT
I hate not being able to enforce types so I can reason about little parts of my program. I hate not having an IDE that can actually help me. I hate having to see stupid grep'ed code snippets instead of nicely formatted javadocs. I hate having to double and triple check everything when trying to code. I hate handling effectively opaque values where I don't know anything about the type without looking it up. And I especially hate not knowing what types function parameters need to be.
Dynamic typing doesn't remove types. That, although completely unfeasible, I could respect.
Oh no, the types are still there. Just not for you
It's like solving a jigsaw puzzle with a blindfold on56 -
I like coding in a way that anyonr who comes into my code base can understand whats going on. That way more people can maintain the code base.
However, I HATE having people in my code base. Since they leave shit undocumented, and have 10 variables called "data" "items" "o" "p" and another 20 methods called "processData" "convertItem".1 -
Is it only me or does Unity really force people to write ugly code?
Sometimes I think to my self : " just go and write your god damn own fuckin engine"
But then I sit back and realize that I'd never finish a game that way.
Love & Hate Unity !3 -
I'm addicted to the Visual Studio shortcut ctrl+K - ctrl+D to automatically format my code and hate it when I pull down the latest version and it's not formatted properly. 😲5
-
I hate hearing "this should be a quick one" from the client. Especially when your code base is a fucking legacy with no documentations, no testing, and a multisite that shares the same classes where functions has some crazy if conditions just to satisfy each site's requirements.2
-
I ONLY WANT TO WRITE MY OWN CODE
TODAY I FOUND OUT I HATE DOING PR REVIEWS AND HAVING TO GO BACK AND FORTH WITH PEOPLE ABOUT WHAT THEY DID IN THEIR CODE
I'm sure it's beneficial, but it FEELS like such a waste of time12 -
I guess this happens to everyone but damn, hate it when dreaming about code, and not just any code, but the code your enthusiastic about, somehow everything seems to work, so that when you wake up and sit in front of the computer you just go blank... what was that code again, it was so sleek, so simple, yet so robust...
12 hours later dream about it again to wake up realizing you wont ever be able to wake up remembering the code in the detail...1 -
How to get me to never respond to your email: make the subject line say "Salesforce ninjaneer wanted!!!"
First of all I don't do salesforce and second ninjaneer is not a word. I hate when people say code ninja or code warrior or any of those other crap phrases. I'm a software developer. Respect that or suck it.9 -
Doing and Code Review today... Not sure if this guy has really bad OCD, gets bored, or gets stuck and starts commenting the shit of things...
I'm not sure if I like it or hate it... typically "Good code should be self documenting" but this actually might be acceptable... code on the left, 10K foot view on the right?4 -
Why can't software development just be software development? I hate when laws and politics, etc., get in the way
Look at this, for example: https://arstechnica.com/information...
Apple added some code to make the Chinese government happy, which resulted in a bug, which is stupid!4 -
30 and feel too old to learn programming. suddenly get opportunities to code at work in a framework that I hate. asp.net
also manager approves my request to give a windows server exam with Microsoft which is in a month. never been so stressed :/7 -
FUCK OPENSSL. I LOVE IT AND HATE IT SO FUCKING MUCH. WORK FASTER AND BE LESS CONFUSING SO I CAN BRAG ABOUT MY PRETTY ENCRYPTION CODE SOONER. FUCK20
-
Oh gosh... This week a "friend" of mine will have a job interview for a company I am working at. This guy really just can't Code. He has no understanding of clean code, abstraction etc. He just knows the basics. But he loves to brag how good he is and got his bachelor degree. Damn I hate this guy and I hope HR won't hire him.7
-
I just hate it when a co-worker says "AS LONG AS IT WORKS. It doesn't matter how you code it as long as it outputs what the client/user wants. They don't check how you code it anyway" *facepalm*
We effin' follow standards so that it will be convenient for everybody!
Bad code is still bad code if you don't follow standards even if it works.4 -
I hate how I've been writing code for years now, but I still don't feel right calling myself a developer. So frustrating!5
-
Why do business and systems analyst even project managers try to give estimates for how long development should and will take? I hate how people who don't code and do any real work try totell me how long it would take me.4
-
I love to code but I hate to configure.😡😡
OK I hate to configure when it takes several hours and when there is no real documentation.2 -
People say that they hate all the languages other than what they code in:
It's opposite to me, I literally hate the language I code in,
Yes, I code in PHP.8 -
I hate how my teacher always says "do your homework that does this and only this"
and the the next day he is like "i'm gonna implement the code you were supposed to do so it does 4 more thing you couldn't even think about it"
and i have to spend all my day changing how I wrote my code because it's (for me) impossible to re-use my code in relation to the new implementations5 -
i *hate* when someone changes my code with out doing any of: asking first || commenting changes || telling me afterward.4
-
Boss: look we have only VR projects this year. You need to learn Unity.
ME: NO fucking way..... FUCK You unthankful PRICK. I'm not going to learn your fucking unity bullshit after all those backends, mobile apps, code I've wrote for you? I FUCKING HATE UNITY. Time for a new job I guess.13 -
Oh my FUCKING GOD i HATE VISUAL STUDIO CODE, I just wanted to FUCKING OPEN A C++ CLASS IN VISUAL STUDIO 2019 FROM UNREAL ENGINE but for some FUCKING REASON my SCRIPT EDITOR WAS SET TO FUCKING VS CODE, and now 80% of my FUCKING CPU is being FUCKING USED AND I CAN'T FUCKING CLOSE IT AND ITS FUCKING FROZEN SO I CAN'T EVEN EDIT THE CLASS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA anyways thankyou for coming to my ted-talk8
-
I hate wen my code works perfectly; then all of a sudden a million errors popup out of nowhere. 😠😠😠4
-
Two states of a developer every day:
• Fuck this job. I hate everyone and everything. My code sucks. It's not working. Why did I choose this career?! I am so miserable.
• It works! I'm a programmer god. Oh my goodness I'm smarter than everybody.4 -
I really hate interruptions when i'm deep in my code. Headset on and blocking out the world, then get annoyed taps on the shoulder from boss for not greeting people.
So now i'm out of the zone, browsing devrant and have pissed off the boss for being anti-social.1 -
I kinda hate how even if people submit good and useful code to OSS repositories, you need to act like a salesperson if you want anyone to notice/care about it
-
I just fucking hate compiling this fucking C# (ASP.NET) code and then transferring to staging server. Fuck you.....no no no listen to me fuck you and fuck this shit.8
-
why do people hate java? it is the most elegant and simple language one can learn and code powerful apps and software. i don't get it11
-
@dfox add a onBackPressed function and while exit make the code to double press the back button to exit.
Mistakenly clicked back button, now I hate my life.4 -
God I hate my job I hate my job I hate my job.
I know that you are supposed to make more than what you have been hired in the first place today, especially in tiny company, but I expected to code a little bit...
This week, all I have to do is to deep-etch pictures in photoshop, send packages, answer the phone, do the SEO and be the community manager on Facebook. No time to code at all.
I just have to stay till august, then I will finally be able to switch company. Please make it fast...6 -
Tired of dealing with shitcode, that's all I always inherit. Maybe I picked the wrong career? or maybe I shouldn't have even read about things like SOLID or picked up Clean Code.
Then again if I hadn't, I wouldn't be where I am. But I'm unhappy. Why do I always get these projects where the poeple who wrote them (and dissappeared) clearly had no proefficiency on the used tech stack.
Am I ever gonna be part of a project with an actual lead/architect, who strives for the code not to rot?
Maybe I'm just being a little bitch whinning over this?
Halp!! the more I code, the more I hate it. It wasn't like this when I was the architect. But I didn't make as much money as I do now...
What do I do4 -
I'm curious..
When does programming suck for you, and when is it fun?
Like I hate programming, when I run into an obscure use case that opens up some serious errors with my some, or gasp, all, of my architecture and forces me to rethink everything - especially DB design, ugh.
I love programming when my architecture and DB design create naturally readable code and everything falls into place and I feel like a genius.
I guess, in short.... plan before you code?
And then, plan again.
But don't plan too much.
The love/hate of my programming life summed up right there I think.
How about you?10 -
God, I hate python and its ecosystem with a passion! I feel like because of it being so popular amongst non-programmers 99% of the python code one has to deal with is just plain garbage. Also, fuck your shitload of dependencies who all fail to install!4
-
You see that, over there?
That massive, 10-ton bag of dicks sitting there in the corner?
Secure Code Warrior can eat that ENTIRE FUCKING THING!
SO many flaws in their tests... SO much HIGHLY questionable content... utterly RIDICULOUS bullshit code with no comments and no context... asking me fucking Angular questions when I'm doing an Express test... two answers that are IDENTICAL... and a busted-ass site on top of it all.
I hate this motherfucking bullshit SO much, and at this moment I hate my employer even more for forcing me to deal with it.
But, hey, I hope you enjoy no work getting done today since you seem to prefer I do this instead, so I guess I'll just scare my dog some more as I yell about this bullshit.
Fuck you Secure Code Warrior, fuck you very, VERY much.7 -
Is it just me or do any of you people also hate asking for help with understanding other devs code?
At the same time I also hate explaining my code to other devs, like I have to justify I'm not an imbecile.6 -
Git vs floobits
I hate floobits! But my team wanna use it because they are too lazy to commit their code!!!3 -
Why has programming become dependency management and third party paid libraries implementation?
I hate it.
I want to code some real hard stuff but everything is already made!14 -
I hate legacy code.
Introduced some new changes to our application and voila! A bug in the legacy system surfaces. It was just hiding in there, waiting to ruin my weekend.2 -
Copy and paste similar code where I have to change X values but ALWAYS mange to only change X-1 values so i get weird behaviour start debugging what in the end then takes longer than to write it new in the first place. Hate myself for that.
-
i hate myself for having a better idea to write a procedure or a function after getting it done. *comments the first set of code, just to be sure.*1
-
I hate my current work with this piece of bad written legacy $hit. As 2 year old 'junior' without any code review and mentor I feel depressed. I should improve my skills at home and run away from it.
F#$ck you, corpo.3 -
If you saw my last rant, you'll know how much I hate Calculus. I decided instead of trying to learn this foreign topic, I'd instead translate it into a language I DO understand: C. The irony is that we use Calculus so we can learn to code easier, but I'm using code to learn Calculus easier. Funny if you ask me.1
-
So, i just spent an hour and a half looking at a 4 line section of code wondering why it wasnt working correctly...
I had to add 1 fucking line in outside of the brackets...
I hate myself, i truly do. -
I hate ppl who don't indent code and those who don't add proper comments to explain three crap that they've created6
-
I always had little time to code. But since I have my server I just have admin related stuff to do. It's been a few days now since I have seen my editor for the last time.
Hate that.1 -
i hate windows errors so much
there's no information whatsoever, its just "error code 0x696969 lmao something wrong try again later"
what i hate even more is asking microsoft forums what the error code means and being asked if ive tried turning it off and on again6 -
Damn, help me guys. Tomorrow I'm invited to a "friends" party.
Don't want to go, but have to. I hate partys. I hate all this shit, alcohol, drunk people. Have to stay there for at least 6h, until 1am or so. I hate drinking alcohol, doing stupid alcohol drinking games.
And I don't like this friend. I don't have much contact with him in the last few months. I thought he would understand that I don't like him. But no - he never lets me alone. Don't want this.
Let me fucking code - I want to have my free time, let me alone. Don't need that friends. The school mates on my apprenticeship are good enough for me, they are friendly, thinking the same way and don't drink alcohol all the time.
I hate this. Damn. Hopefully I will survive this fucking party. Maybe I can browse devRant half time of the party.
Am I the only one who doesn't need all that shit? Partys, alcohol, social interaction all the time?19 -
Hate leaving work feeling useless for only writing 5 lines of working code today.
4 hours of meetings, an hour of calls, 2 hours to find 2 annoying bugs and the rest waiting for an api throttle limit so I can test again.
Hoping tomorrow is better!2 -
I just hate wordpress. Whenever I have to touch it, makes me nervous.
This time I just have to put some html/css. I was thinking it's piece of cake.
Couldn't be more wrong. This fucker is adding extra tags to my code fucking up what made...1 -
!!rant
I just hate job ads which have a pseudo-language (Java or C for ex) code snippet inviting you for an interview.
Oh my God they are so fucking LAME. I actually pass on these job offers.1 -
tabs vs spaces
i hate it when i cant find where i used spaces instead of tabs. just a simple mistake and it doesnt work
me: *codes makefile in codenvy*
terminal: *** missing separator. Stop.
me: *rewrites code exactly the same way in Notepad++*
me: *copy paste code to codenvy*
terminal: *compiles whole project*
wow. just wow.6 -
I really loving coding but i cant stand people that take coding for granted, theres no single way to code there are a lot of ways to make a single function work and you can code it in different ways, i hate it when people dont use their imagination, in coding you dictate what you want to do, thats the power of coding1
-
I have a confession to make, I use a light theme, and I like it.
There. I said it. You can all hate me now.
It helps me to focus tho, as I use a dark UI theme. It really brings out the code.12 -
GOD I FUCKING HATE UNITY AND FUCKING C# SO MUCH
EVERY TIME I TRY TO MAKE IT DO WHAT I FUCKING WANT IT TO IT'S LIKE "mmmmmm nah lmao" LIKE FUCK WHY CAN'T YOU JUST FOLLOW FUCKING 3 LINES OF CODE NO MATTER HOW I PUT THEM OR ORDER THEM YOU BRAINDEAD FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT PROGRAM4 -
A colleague of mine was very smart, but didn't know how to use classes in .net or object literals in js, so he organized his data with arrays.
It worked, of course, but, god, did I hate working with his code. It would take hours to make simple changes.1 -
Damn... I like VS Code and at the same time I fucking hate how slow this garbage "editor" has become.
Can I haz rewrite in Rust? 🥺9 -
I get it. Hooks prevent code repetition. But personally I hate them. I don’t know why. I just don’t like writing them. Maybe it’s because I like writing “this”. Weird, right?3
-
Because of an SINGLE MOTHERFUCKING CHARACTER I've been stuck for 3 days on my code. I live on a love/hate history with dev'ing.2
-
Writing code an testing it: works fine.
Not touching it for 3 weeks: can't compile it due to an gradle error
I hate Cordova!10 -
You know why i hate JavaScript?
Instead of writing
return x.y.z;
I wrote
return
x
.y
.z;
Just for making the code look clean
and everything broke...10 -
My god i hate so much reactjs... And will never understand how a normal brain could write such a russian doll code.
But then, i met flutter, god i will puke.10 -
I really fucking hate adding Exceptions into code. It's so fucking ugly and I feel miserable sometimes by using because I have to. I'm weird.4
-
Wrote some code. Didn't work.
Cleared all build caches, deleted project files and re-opened the project from scratch. Code still doesn't work.
Copied the same code over to a new project. Works.
I FUCKING HATE DAYS LIKE THESE!!!2 -
Playing in hackerrank and they do not have ruby in one of the "30 days of code" challenges.. I had to do it in php .. it took me nearly 40 minutes, fucking PHP I hate it.
-
Final day on this project, tonight I'll get drunk to forget about the backlog since client didn't hire me longer ( consultant).
I hate leaving unfinished code.
Monday I start my next project, which is refactoring. .Net code to .net core.
Here is to hoping it doesn't rely too much on unsupported 3rd party libraries.
Cheers fellow devs, have a good weekend. -
https://devrant.com/rants/5155862/...
Alright! I take it back. I don’t like “this”. Hooks are better. But are they the best? We will see.
Namaste.3 -
What I really hate? When a piece of code simply refuses to work. No logs, no exceptions, no sign that it even exists. HOW THE FUCK I'M SUPPOSE TO DEBUG THIS SHIT?? I drives me crazy, if everything I do changes nothing! It makes me doubt my sanity. And I like my sanity!3
-
After like, 7 years, I had to code a native (as in, c++) VR activity for an Android project.
I had forgotten how much I hate fucking JNI.13 -
I hate it when framework doesn't behave the way it should (or I didn't code it the way it's meant to), though in example it works the way it should.1
-
You do not own your companies code. Of you hate working at your job, don't let the feeling of responsibility for the codebase keep you there. I keep learning that lesson.
-
! War
I hate tabs to space, yep i hate it, nobody could ever give me a good reason to use spaces over tabs
(yes i want to have differend tab sizes on differend Plattforms/environments, my buddys all use 4 or even 6 as tab size, i only use 2. With tabs can everbody got his/her own size without reformating the whole code and driving diff crazy @all lines changed!!!111onehundredeleven)12 -
I fucking hate when people think they can do a better job not using a well tested library.
And then try justify why their code is better and quicker than using a library.1 -
F++ you! You never here when I need you. You force me to sleep when I want to code. You force me to code when I want beer. I hate you, time!1
-
-Dream with code.
-Compulsion to start coding every no profitable projects that I imagine.
-Buy a lot of programming books.
-Want to have the source code of my favorite DOS games.
-Hate business people.
-Love language wars like a viking.
-Love terminals.
-Hate GUIs.
-Hate printers
-Hate every non programmers.

I always do reformatting my code to keep it clean and readable, so I have a reflex of doing it a lot of time.
Even on a file with thousand of lines with several persons working on it
but I hate to see that in my changes, 95% of my changes are random tabs that my auto reformatting erases.2 -
I hate the overuse of arrow function everywhere even for super long expression. that `function` should fit to them more comfortably .
writer of code should aware that it take three time more to read expiration with arrow function inside5 -
Positively accepting criticism is a superpower I hope to acquire one day. As in jump in joy and violently smile when they say my code is shit level of positive acceptance.
I don't really hate or reject criticism. I am simply saddened by it, on a good day.
so yes, if you have this superpower, where's the source?2 -
I fucking hate Visual Studio!
Don't get me wrong, from time to time I actually enjoy it but not today.
It all went south when I tried to add a new handler to an fucking old asp.net webpage. I had the access the 'Range' headed to stream bits of audio and video files to the client. It was working absolutely fine for the first hour and a half, after that point the fun started...
VS decided that my source code and the binaries won't match anymore. Everytime I tried to add a fucking breakpoint or debug this cunt of an error it would just refuse
The worst part that made me go apeshit was when I finally got a breakpoint and the exception. Some unknown fucking system dll just kept on killing my thread without a proper error message because it's optimized to the fucking moon and back!
Any ideas from the devs here on what's going on and how the fuck I can fix this?6 -
I'm not sure why but I'm always super caught up on the aesthetic of my coding. Like the code editor has to have the right colors and format and I hate getting so stuck on inconsequential aspects of work.2
-
Sometimes I hate JS. It makes people think that this kind of crap is a good idea...
What the actual fuck. :/
By the way, is there a way to format code posts on devRant that I'm missing?3 -
I fucking hate shit/incomplete code tutorials, especially ones that reference old/unmanaged libraries. Fucking waste of time!!!!9
-
I HATE it when client does not know what he wants. Removed a functionality only to be added back again with all the ripples going through the code¡¡¡¡¡
ARGH¡¡¡¡¡¡ FUCK ME
Where's my exclamation mark u shitty SwiftKey keyboard¿¿¿¿1 -
What other devs fucking hate it when asked to do work in photoshop?
I code get a fucking designer to make it look pretty.2 -
I seriously hate ppl that write vague variables name. It makes so hard for me to understand ur code !2
-
I’m so fucking tired of having to work with shitty code day in and day out and not being able to optimize it. I want to quit so bad without having a job lined up… I fucking hate being a developer now thanks to these fucking pieces of shit.6
-
Need to do some PHP for my class next week, problem is I hate PHP so I just distracted myself and wrote a bunch of Ruby code today...4
-
I hate it when someone asks me for help in a part of his code, then I find that the problem is the whole code not just that part.
I have 3 options:
- try to make it work, and get lost in his shit, not refactored code.
- tell him that I am not that good so he get out of my face
- kill him, so he can reproduce
PS: just kidding -
I hate my pinky finger. Can't really activate that little shit while typing code. I recall smashing my fists on the wooden wall from anger, tho, might be the case.4
-
I hate it when someone says 'syntactic sugar' and on the other hand wants code to be readable. For me it seems that this are wheels which chain together.1
-
I *hate* it when a senior asks me to write a functional test report. Like I thought we hired functional testers to do that sort of stuff? I'm a programmer, I only write 3 things: code, documentation, and more code. Not freaking reports about how something did not work before, and after this 1-line fix does work. Oh and don't forget to include screenshots and a description of the issue. Arghhh4
-
You know I really hate uncommented legacy code especially when it was written by the PM himself years before and will never admit fault with this God awful unholy hell spawn
-
I hate it when you ask a question on so and include the complete code and everything and just get a -1 and no comment or anything.
What the hell. I doing wrong, please tell me !!!5 -
I really just hate Apple development. Xcode blows hard ass and if you are a person like me who has 0 Apple devices and has to go to the fucking school labs to code then why wouldn't you hate apple development. It's really the lack of being able to code outside a fucking Mac cause its just pointlessly limiting, fuck you Apple.13
-
Code review moment that I hate
Me: This is a bad practice. You shouldn't do this
Developer: But it works
*Showed articles and examples why it's bad*
Developer: I see. But it works. Why should I change it?2 -
Thanks I hate it, I hate the fact that typescript will still transpile this. Not an exact copy of the code I'm working with, but close enough. Also this code targets es3, but we generate tsconfigs that say es5 (which don't actually get used) which leads me to believe that we generate them soley for the benefit of ides, and because if they said es3 the ide would show even more errors7

!rant
I hate the feeling when you're creating an app then the designers provided you a mockups that aren't intuitive, it makes me lazy to code 😒2 -
I fucking hate vendor prefixes. HATE.
Got some nice JS code? Well it's about to get ugly 'cause in our browser, the API needs some special name treatment or it feels offended.
Got some nice CSS?
You're welcome, it just grew 3x in size because "ugh, I ain't havin' the same flexbox as lousy Chrome over there! I'm special, I'm -ms-!"
Fucking bullshit.1 -
I hate being invited to a party!
Specifically when I have no chance to refuse (family parties mostly)
Though I'm still able to code or read a book with my phone but WHY SHOULD I??
Grrrrr !!
Idk ... what do you do in such complicated situations?3 -
Working on a bugfix which has surfaced after 2 years, I hate the way that nobody thought of perhaps tidying up a component before leaving it gathering dust. Basically found dozens sections of identical code with minimal changes both for production code and testing :/2
-
You know what I hate? Git commit messages stating 'fixed tests' or 'fixed docs' or 'fixed integration problems'. You did not fix anything, fuckhead. You updated the code, introducing more bugs as usual. FIXED?! NO, UPDATED! That's what I hate.1
-
When someone writes a JUnit test that passes, when the code is completely wrong. I hate group work.1
-
I hate code imperfections. I have a cookie which is linked to a permanent user setting and I was looking to make it infinite, but I was disappointed to find out the best option is Cookie.setMaxAge(int seconds), so I put Integer.MAX_VALUE, and I'm not as disappointed anymore.5
-
I honestly hate writing code. I hate debugging off-by-one bugs. I hate debugging in general. My fingers are weary from 11 years of this shit. I've spent 1 hour designing + implementing this tool in C, only to have spent 11+ hours debugging this tiny thing.
Ultimately, I hate the precision the damn computer demands. It's a prissy little bitch I want to hate fuck.7 -
I hate coding views... I will code every service and controller there is until I have no choice but to code the views.
-
Something I hate about working in the team is that the code reviewer will stall the time and leave a lot of pull requests unreviewed. As more code changes more commits and more pull requests.
The code base is conflicting with each other, what the fuck? I hate this.5 -
I hate arrow functions in ES6! Whenever I see them, I get acute code dyslexia and can't read shit. What the fuck is wrong with writing function, why change it for some unreadable series of symbols?10
-
I hate when I have to add other people's code into a commit as they haven't made their module available on packagist so I couldn't use composer and it makes my deployment fail
-
I went to a vacation leaving my colleague a working code that she was supposed to use and commit as is. Coming back a week later the code is unrecognizable, not committed and doesn't work. Now I need to fix it again while she went home. Plus I hate it that we're forced to use svn, the change is 40 files strong already.1
-
software development is a great thing... when you're the only one working on the project. otherwise everyone writes their part of the code, and you don't feel "in full control" of the codes and software. i hate that feeling.1
-
I so hate working with legacy db code! I wish I could migrate all to entity framework but the migration is a pain in the ass and would take hours which the client wouldn't like.1
-
You know what I hate? Spoilers!!
-I've seen GOT's last episode!! Hold the door!!
-I've seen Vikings last episode!!! He'll...
-I've seen your code and it will crash! -
Wrote some code, not realizing code has TOCTOU race condition until a healthy 4 hours later, and the fix was to move two lines of code upward. I hate me, myself and I.
P/S: What happened to PrivateGER, devTea and linuxxx?3 -
I hate low code products. How about I build some bloatware that's inefficient, expensive to host, and completely dependant on something that will be abandoned in 4 years.
If you want to know what your application will look like in the near future, visit your Myspace profile -
I hate so much when i write a lot of number of lines in my code and when i start the debugger there are a lot of errors...... I Forget to initialize a variable 😑
-
I hate it when I am looking online at someone else's code where they thought they could just paste 50+ lines of code with no formatting! Or even worse, the sites desktop app has formatting, but on mobile, the app just smashes everything together. Does anyone else have this problem?
-
I hate how my work mates think coding in Java you automatically become cleaver than most people who code in another laugauge ..
The hate Python and JavaScript , c'mon guys just write your fucking project so long it works you dont have to make statements on how Java is great. . We all no. . Statements like Python is English anyone can write are not welcome7 -
I hate it so badly when syntex highlighted code snippet on a web page goes to plain text on double click. Anyone knows it's purpose?7
-
I fucking hate people who want to "perfect" his shit before push his code. Yes damn right. That means he doesn't fucking push his code until it's too late and his "perfect" shit will break everything. Not to mention the cry face he has when there are shitload of conflicts.
-
FML!!!!!! I FUCKING HATE THE COMBINATION OF XAMARIN FORMS AND MY COWORKERS.
Explanation:
I had to refactor all of our views because my coworkers did anything in the code-behind file from the views but the code should be in the viewmodels.
I had an "Unhandlex Exception" without any stacktrace or error message for a hour. What was the error? In the xaml file of the view was still an OnClicked-handler of a button but i removed the method from the view-code-behind-file.
FML1 -
get a high priority bug , look at code changes, a variable name getting refactored apparently created a class cast exception
something about this hypothesis doesn't seem right
i hate my job, welcome back from vacation2 -
Is it ok to hate your old code?
I always say to myself "WTF is this? There's a better way of doing this" when I have to make some changes to some older project.
But, I see it as a good thing, it means that I've improved a bit since then.3 -
As an emerging Android developer, I must say I HATE SQLITE AND CONTENT PROVIDERS!! So much code for such little functionality! Pro Android devs, does the process get any less tedious down the road with more experience?6
-
I... Hate... Uni coursework. Would much rather be coding my own projects than reading 1000 plus lines of code to write a single class4
-
My team still use console.log for debuging instead of breakpoints, I don't really care about it when the code in development, but I really hate it when it goes to production.
I search in the project and found total 231 of console.log with allow console rules above it, I mean why don't you just delete it after the code is working, it's not that hard rather than to delete all console before goes to prod.6 -
I hate deploying this project, it's just nerve wracking. I started it when I was a newbie to web stuff so I didn't know shit. Now it's just a big project with no unit tests, I test it all by hand.
It looks professional though, but the underlying code is just a mess.5 -
Spent about an hour and a half getting an NPE. Cleaned the project, rebuilt, restarted IntelliJ, danced the ancient code dance... Nothing.
Clicked Run one more time and everything worked. TF was that about? I HATE these types of bugs!!1 -
what i hate about school projects is that they ask for the pseudocode of the the whole code. like seriously, its the same thing anyway. its not like we're gonna implement it in some other language, in that case pseudocode is helpful.1
-
Somebody write more and more ugly / incomprehensible lines of code for 1-2 beautiful line.
But the bug is always in ugly code.
I hate these programmers, I hate these programs!1 -
The world must truly hate me.
I refactored my code a lot in order to easily integrate different APIs endpoints but then I can't use the one I specifically did this for, because of TLS errors.
My browsers all agree that it's fine, but curl and the 2 http libraries I tested can't fetxh any data.
END ME!9 -
I hate people forgetting to enable option strict on Visual Basic .NET.
Why the heck does Visual Studio has it disabled by default anyways?!
Only use of disabling it I ever have found is for SignalR, disable it on just the file you need to.
Wait! There's another use, to compile the code of people that doesn't enable it. That is, of course, without rewritting the entire code base! -
Sometimes I hate the limitations that being a mobile dev puts on your code, processor, memory, battery, signal and wifi limitations are all things that have to be worked round, however I couldn't imagine doing anything else and it's taught how to write concise and efficient code
-
Damn Laravel 8 changed...
This whole Jetstream thing is kinda cool and infuriating....
I love the features but hate the code. I want ny laravel pug views back. Q_Q9 -
triggers {
cron('H */1 * * 1-5') // 23 every working day

I hate when comments are not updated along with code.
Even more when git blame points at me xD1 -
i am terrible at using swagger autogenerated code, yaml and swagger files
dont fucking false positive pass, tell me if theres indenting wrong
also why the fuck wont you generate the code im trying to get you to generate
i fucking hate you so much, ive done this once before what am i doing wrong now -
I frigging hate unit testing an AngularJS application. The amount of mocks you need to create just to test a a piece of code is unbelievable1
-
I kind of hate people who use the JavaScript array method Array.reduce(...)
It rarely makes sense but makes code unnecessarily complex to read.12 -
!Rant
I absolutely hate click bait... But not type you're thinking of. The type of click bait of a stack overflow question and it's either totally not related or goes unanswered... Or even worse it's just a typo in their code.
But i have a solution! You won't believe what it is!

I hate it when my teacher underestimates my skills in programming, he/she tells me to rewrite again even though its just the same logic... I got shorter lines of code, he/she wants longer and readable code 😠😠11
-
I'm friendly by nature.
I once asked one of my colleague for code related help. He was generous enough to commit it directly into the repo, only I'm supposed to handle.
It's been six month, and there is nothing I hate even more.2 -
I hate to see when my code is touched by co worker and after then it looks like shit... mäh... added a task to refactor it by myself just to set a statement
-
I saw another rant about formatting. Now I want to complain too.
I fucking hate black formatting. Go screw yourself, it all hyped up and fucked up my code. Don't worry, everything still works, except my eyes. They got blinded everytime I see a black formatting commit. Screw you... Fire in the hole!!!!!!10 -
I hate meteor. I hate that I have to have everything I do revolve around meteor and it's packages. I hate that I cant implement HMR without support from meteor or tearing my hair out for hours on end. I hate the special implementation of unit tests that have to accommodate for the fact that meteor sucks so much. I hate the encapsulated bubble of "meteor" packages that install themselves outside of my development directory. I hate that I can't use most of the code I find while researching problems because it doesn't work inside of the meteor bubble.
I did not start this project. I did not select meteor as a starting point because I didn't want to implement my own full stack solution, of which there are many that are far better in almost every way, and watch everyone else that touched my code suffer from day one.
If it is the last thing I do, I WILL purge meteor and all of it's nonsense from every line of code in this application even if that means rewriting every line of code in this application.
I will have no mercy. There will be screams of agony, gnashing of teeth and blood will flow down the streets like the rivers of hate that flow in my heart for meteor and all things it stands for.
I will have my vengeance, and it will be terrible.1 -
I used to love coding. I have ASD and it was one of those rare things I could just do for hours without realising the time. I used to do my own projects, or at least plan them.
Now it's my job to code (& design when I don't have a pleb project, software engineer). I still kinda like to code but as I *have to* code, I just hate it.
Every fun thing that turns to work just turns to torture. Maybe I'll break my arm slipping this winter and have to have an extended sick leave...3 -
I hate writing those user manuals, answering emails and describing planned solutions...
Just let me code! -
I hate putting curly braces on the same line as function declarations/if statements/etc but Go forces me to do that.
I understand the reason Go does that but fuck I wanna write my code the way I feel is better to read. I just lost a lot of the excitement of learning Go...5 -
I know it doesn't really apply because we have widescreen monitors now, but regardless, I hate seeing code that runs the width of the screen, I'd much rather have more lines than more columns. Viva la vertical!5
-
Java I hate you! I've been stuck on an authentication issue for weeks now and just figured out what was wrong. The probem was my variable wasn't STATIC so it was passing in an old auth header every time. Literally I've been skimming and modifying my code like crazy for like 2 weeks and this simple modifier changes everything! Java I hate you and can't wait to migrate my code base to kotlin!4
-
K&R style Brackets are so goddamn shitty. I hate hate hate hate that style. It makes code so goddamn hard to read. And for what gain? You write "less" lines of code? So what? Who gives five fucks about that? Readability is key for coders.7
-
I despair at how most devs don't want to learn or self reflect if their code is clean.
It makes me hate this job some days. -
Hate it when I'm starting to feel sick and I actually have to not code for awhile because I cant think straight 😭

I hate unit test. I hate testing by code.
I hate the idea to write code that tests code. And that u must update both when u add a feature. Like wtf.
Good debug mode with clear verbose and precise reporting tool and voila.
Drives me nuts thus trending shit.10 -
thank you for unexpectedly changing your code i included on your recommendation and now all of my modules are broken!
even if this is just a side project i hate when others break my shit and i don't even have the time to fix it.1 -
I hate the Laravel community more than Laravel itself because they tolerated it to develop upto version 5.x with Laravel still pointing out errors in framework's codebase rather than a proper traceback to user's code.
Messed up shit.By Laravel.By PHP :)3 -
I bet I'm the only one that reads spaghetti PHP better than whatever python script
I fucking hate all those ":" around the code.
Note: I don't want to start a war over which is better, they both get the job done in their way.
Also, none really will change its mind anyway, so just don't start a war, please?6 -
Not happy. On my side project things all of a suddenly stopped working in the browser. Debugging shit is a pain as the JS code is generated.
I still don't get how it was working before and now it doesn't, when I basically think I didn't touch anything.
Hate feeling like a n00b. -
I just sent a passionate hate post to my webdev instructor and asking them to stop pumping out incompetent webdevs who code shittiest redux reducers3

Hey folks, I need some tricks. I am currently a junior dev and struggle with starting side projects. I have some fancy ideas I'd love to work on. Problem is, I HATE UI design. I can't start working on an idea because I want them to look awesome. It is absolutely no problem to code the logic / backend, but the fucking design... I just hate it.
For example, I have some fancy ideas for an file manager that fits my needs. Haven't seen something yet like I imagine right now. I mainly code in C# (or Java) and I have to develop custom UI controls for it, align shitty controls, think about freaking color schemes,... I hate it. I simply hate it.
Do you also struggle with that? Any ideas how to overcome that?
Cheers!4 -
I hate react-redux boilerplate code and NgRx boilerplate codes too. How to avoid boilerplate code or minimize it?
I've heard about zustand but it is quite new. Legacy apps mostly use react-redux with lots of boilerplate codes.5 -
I almost forgot how much I hate Jenkins. What should be a relatively simple deployment with some straightforward bash scripts turns into 500 lines of "clever" groovy code because devs can't help themselves. Add heinously slow execution times and no good way to test anything locally and I officially want to blow my brains out.8

Why do people hate Java fgs. I love to write code, I love the expresivness of the language. Code is code1
-
I hate working with Indians!!!! They are chaotic, their code is a pile of mess, and their mouth full of best practices! It's a nightmare!11
-
I hate when i change working code just to make it replace an input field on the page with a loading spinner effectively nullifying the value of the input and take 2 days to notice smh2
-
I hate debugging code when I'm reasonably sure the bug didn't come from me. so demotivating. also when it has to do with the data and I don't have easy access to the data to debug what went wrong. I was just expecting it to work!2
-
You know you're having a seriously off day when you make code changes and execution remains the exact same... I've been throwing down logs left and right and nothing is changing! I am surely going to hate myself when I figure out how stupid this mistake is...
-
So I have spent the entire morning trying to fix null values in the database, because they keep fucking up my code.
I hate the fucking person who made the database at the place I work, dude has not heard of a thing called NOT NULL!!! -
Dafuck is that swiftUI, already hate reactjs to the bones, and now here we go again, i must code those nested views hell and predict the data channels.
This is killing agile programming bigtime1 -
Reluctantly thinking of switching to a PM role so i could focus all my code-fu to my side projects!!
what do u guys think? i know most of us hate PMs, but they do get paid more for what i think is less work (mental focus wise).
😞😞😞2 -
And right here is why I hate python
In all c like languages hell even in pascal code blocks are very well separated
I was wondering my code wasn’t doing anything and here the return block was being called at the end of the loop because of tabbing bullshit
At least I can choose to strongly type
Step up from js2 -
I hate programming exams where you have to had write out code. I always get points off because my hand writing is basically chicken scratches.
-
Everytime i am forced to code with Visual studio I cant really remember why I hate it so much. But when I wait for the first autocompletion it comes back at me: Intellisense you useless piece of crap! I am faster coding in notepad looking up shit on the internet for 'autocompletion'....
-
And why is symfony so fucking slow? Well I guess it has something to do with depending on code annotations for everything, or every simple task requiring a whole cloud of a thousand classes, stupid design decisions....I fucking hate symfony, piece of shit software
-
I just want to find out how single code that isn't changed can work but after that don't... :/ Hate that
-
Fuuuuuuuck!!
I hate it when your code work sometimes but sometimes not and you don't even change anything!!
Fuck you, Discord rich presence! Why don't you love me??? -
When I was started my journey in coding, what ever I do, I think about coding. Sleep code, eat code, dream code, dating code. Its become my usually nightmares.
Its become worst when I got stucked in coding. Ppl see me like a geek zombie.
Coding used to ruin my life.
But when my code working like charm, feel like god. I can do anything. 😂😂😂
Sometime l just love it, but most of the time I fucking hate it. -
Rant !
I seriously do have a love-hate relationship with programming.
About a couple of hours ago ,I was so happy learning new things and already planned I can make something so awsum with this stuff and then when I sat down to code it didn't work .Damn it , going through just about 10 lines of code for a couple of hours . Googling it ,no luck .3 -
What I hate the lost about exam season, is the lack of coding... Spend two months cramming all the theoretical parts of computer science, and it just gives no time to code
-
Bleh, I fucking hate Arduino. I thought this Chad would teach me assembly for PCs, not Arduino. The boards don't fucking work half the time, I don't give a shit about blinking lights or motors, I don't want to do things with robotics, I just want to fucking code. Ffs, I'd rather write code that just makes a number increment and then quits, because then I wouldn't have to use that useless fucking Arduino "IDE".
Fuck you Arduino, fuck you so much.4 -
I’ve been assigned a Kubernetes task and I must say I really hate this shite. I’d rather code than be doing this 😑😶😑2
-
Stupid Nhibernate! Half day to get a domain configuration barely working! I hate you.
P.s.
Someone know some resource to learn about Nibernate by the code? It seems awesome and I'm a noob. -
I really hate it when I'm fixing an error, whenever I change something in my code I always got new different errors. FML 🔫
-
Anyone looking for shitty code practices take a look at the Emotiv API. The way they have written sample code should be mode illegal.
I fucking hate reading through such a shitty peace of sample code. -
I usually review my code and if it doesn't look right it needs improving (even if it works). I hate when I see code that I know is flawed. My coding skills are weak but it's easy to spot crap code
-
So... The system encountered some error and couldn't wake from sleep when I was gone to eat...
And the code which was already running since days needs to be re ran
I hate it -
Agrrr... I hate to do code review of that shit! I hate to write docs for that shit! I hate to talk to PM! I hate dumb developers!
But there are several things about programming that make me calm and happy. When I'm thinking about one of those things I just sit and smile.
One such a thing is the process of upgrading gcc from sources.
1. Build new gcc with old gcc.
2. Build new gcc again with newly built gcc. Call this build A.
3. Build new gcc once more with build A. Call this build B.
4. Compare that A and B are exactly identical to the last bit.
5. You now have self reproducing compiler.
That is just beautiful and literally gives me chills. -

Oh god how I've missed this community
rant:
I hate people always asking me how to solve their f***ing bugs when they don't re-check their code and only have a missing argument in functions ! -
I hate Javascript.
Spent 30 trying to debug my code just to find out that i imported from a wrong package.6 -
!Rant
I think I am going overboard with Java streams and my fellow programmers will hate me. I have not written a loop for... a month? My code is starting to be extremely semantically dense. -
Rant.
I hate premade code/libraries fucking fuck some library decisions should be a question criteria for any interview. I would like to know the thought process you involved on why you chose a particular library. Fuuuuuuuuuuccccccckk the frustrations.
Thanks have a good day. :)2 -
I get really depressed at times and thinks about quitting my job often... normally this happens when I'm assigned work where I have to code! I hate implementation!9
-
I FUCKING HATE TYPEDEF.
I have NEVER seen a use of typedef that wasn't UTTERLY pointless AND did absolutely nothing except add obfuscation to code.
What the fuck is the point of typedeffing a size_t to "MapIndex".. And THEN typedeffing a vector... Of vectors... Of size_t (not MapIndex!) AND THEN TYPEDEFFING A MAP OF "MapIndex" to that previously typedeffed vector of vectors....
ITS FUCKING BEYOND STUPID. I absolutely hate typedef. I have never seen a single NOT RETARDED usage of it.
Have you?7
