4 years ago I was placed on probation for not having the special format in source control check in comments. When I asked, the 'special format' was

Yesterday we were in a meeting discussing the online admission process for the university. Then in some point of the conversation, he said he was going to write a script to automatically check the applicants if their details are identical in the government database. We were all shocked as we hear the phrase "I will write a script" because he has never done so. Today we learnt that he was giving the work to his secretaries to manually login and check if the details were correct.

And by that he/she means,

Anyways, I get a call and the person instantly asks me to check if someone else is busy, I ofcourse check up on the person, see that he sits in a completely different department than me (roughly 200km away from me) and I respond with the following "I can't check if he's busy, have you tried calling his phone".... This half brained dick bag, then says "I go on hold when I call his phone" aka the person is in the middle of a call...

I barely have any hair left, kudos to the people who work in IT-Support daily.

just a note to everyone selling web based software, like plugins or themes: check github. someone who bought your stuff might have put it in a public repository, enabling everyone to get your product for free.

Situation:

Php not loading oci8 connector for oracle database in windows server, got the all famous and feated oci_connect unknown function error.

Solution:
Check to make sure that the stupid dll is in the extensions folder ---> check

Check to make sure that the extension_dir path is done properly inside php.ini ---> check

Ensure that extension=php_oci8_11g.dll is inside php.ini ---> check

There should be image-whiteness-check when posting images. It hurts so much when mostly white images throws white spears to my eyes while I scroll in dark theme unprepared for war with the white side.

Worst: forced to work for 9 months on a shitty wp theme:
- colleague with no clue trying to make me do their work… check
- incompetent manager doing shit about it… check
- idiotic pipeline requiring to redeploy for every asset update… check
- micromanaging cto which for some fucking reason didn’t want to allow access to the writers, forcing the role of content editor on the devs… ducking check! Quack!!

When you need to do something in Wordpress:
1. check the codex
2. check the developer handbook
3. check google, stackoverflow, etc
4. give up
5. do it yourself
6. find it on either of the aforementioned websites

Devrant bug: If the screen size is changed (by resizing app in multi-view) content disappear.

Apps should be able to cope with screen size changes during runtime - check android documentation, especially for Nougat.

When a safety check you added to a cron script triggers early in the morning and you know you might be walking into a shitstorm.

Still better than not having that check and replicating an incomplete database to production.

Our Entreprise CMS at work (obviously):
- inconsistent UI : check (misplaced buttons, some pages are more developed than others)
- slow: check (average 6 seconds of waiting, with cache)
- loading screen as page transitions covering the whole page, making it impossible to click somewhere else if mistaken, adding +3 seconds to loading : check
- time-based session, inlined in HTML and wildly disconnects you, making you lose all changes : check
- sometimes objects are inaccessible and can't do anything about it : check
- "delete" button next to "edit", delete is bigger and I have already clicked the delete button by accident : check
- can't have local development environment, need to work with integrated editor which has no helping features: check
- first TTFB: adds +2-6 seconds to loading time

TL;DR : a pleasant, developer-friendly, frustration- and rantless CMS to work with, reliable and fast.

On day one was told "don't check in anything that will break the build." Been debugging and had to revert back a few days only to find my clean area is broken by some else's commit.

Solving merge conflict on version control takes too much time, so let's allow only guy to check-in and everyone else work offline keeping several old style working copy with (hell) numbers of backup. Once done everyone sends files to check-in guy.

Startup idea #318 - App that runs in the background while coding.. if a file has more than 150 lines prevent the user from typing more in it!

Oh and also check if the code has tabs/spaces and limit them accordingly. If user uses both prevent them from typing in it!

A contains() function for a class to check if there was something in a list. I did not know about the if a in list_b python feature, so I resorted in a loop and a bunch of if/elses.
