Today, Samsung placed an two A4 page ad in a local free newspaper, in which they describe since when they implemented the features from the new iphone23
-
So I have implemented all the features required for the current release. Carefully reviewed my code several times, but no testing.
Tester: everything passed green. Not sure whether you're a good dev or I'm a bad tester.
Me: let's call it a draw.10 -
I'm so excited about this small little feature I implemented in devRant unofficial UWP.
Can't stop using it… 😅
I hope you'll enjoy it (coming in v2.0.0-beta15 very soon). 😁13 -
My uni implemented Bluetooth beacon based attendance monitoring.
Raspberry pi + cloned beacons = 100% attendance.
Idiots 😂
(Edit for clarity: app on smartphone, Bluetooth beacon in each room)29 -
Business: How long will it take to add that feature to the legacy system?
Programmer: When will the new system be implemented?
Business: 6 months
Programmer: The new feature will take 7 months3 -
I just implemented parallelism in one of my major data collection tools for work, and cut the tool's run duration by 90%. That seems like as good a time as any to go to sleep.2
-
Implemented a feature without the hardware to run it on.
Hardware arrives on the last day before it has to be prepared for a trade show.
Feature works on first try.
I have never been so suspicions.4 -
That feeling when your soul dies a little because you implemented it as you were told and not as it should have been.1
-
!rant I guess. Its coffee on a chip. Just spend 3h making this board to be implemented in my coffee machine. Just to wake up with the smell of coffee. The board is 2.9 by 3.2 cm12
-
Shower Thought :
I wonder, in the future, since people is easily offended by everything, variable naming would be such a concern it'll be seriously implemented in the compiler, and be like
"Error at 16:1 NamingConventionError : 'fuckThis' is not linear with our guidelines"6 -
Stakeholder: There’s a bug on the site.
Me: That’s not a bug. The site is supposed to do that. Your team asked for that feature and we implemented it last summer.
SH: They did?
Me: Yes, they did.
SH: You sure it’s been like this since last summer?
Me: YES!!!5 -
Messaging me at 4:30pm on a Friday about a high priority issue currently in production.
My reply: a link to the code review from 2 months ago that literally explained the problem and what to do to fix it. That got implemented. Then removed. For some reason...
Feels good.2 -
I would kill all these +1 guys, srsly. I subscribe these threads to know if it will be implemented.
You do not add any value to issue:
* devs are pissed off as this does not help solving problem
* others are pissed off
No one really cares about your likes, really.28 -
Had to program a microprocessor to count a pendulum swing, turns out that the only sensor I had for this wasn't working, implemented a function that simulated the swing and presented the projecto in less than 5 minutes so the teacher wouldn't notice5
-
My coworker implemented this date extension for no reason. Also handles back before they changed it. He wrote tests too6
-
*bunch of if statements*
Friend shouts proudly everywhere : I implemented an AI!
Me : but that's not how AI works
Friend : but it works just as an AI, so it is one, who cares?
😥3 -
Me: *opens up a test script*
> only http response code is checked
Me: hey, coleague from qa, why didn't you also write response body checks?
Col: I had then implemented but removed them later.
Me: ?? Why??
Col: because tests were failing
Crickets: *chirp chirp* .... *awkward pause* [in high pitched crickety voice] what the fuck?!?!3 -
5 years ago i was working on a 2D game using C and we needed to use the sleep function (I forgot why ) .but however one of my team member did something new , for each second he did an empty for loop from 0 to 1000000 .You never know maybe that's how it's implemented (sarcasm)1
-
Wooh! I implemented a heap.... that only took... 5 hours...
I am so screwed for my interview next week..... :(33 -
That moment when you see an app idea that had struck you last summer, successfully implemented by someone else in autumn. 😢3
-
Finally YouTube implemented something from the porn websites. I'm talking about quick video review on thumbnails.6
-
To those wondering what's it like to work in corporates and "HOW slow is it, really...?".
My corp project contract ended 1.5 months ago.
Today I got an email saying my access request has been finally approved and implemented.6 -
Boss just phoned me and told me of his great app idea. Says he wants the idea done and implemented by tomorrow 8AM. Meaning I have 8 hours to plan a project, design the app, and implement it.
Well, I'm boned.11 -
Law's passed in France making it illegal for your boss to send you mails after work hours! So many devs there can now be in peace! If only this was implemented everywhere :/
http://ubergizmo.com/2016/05/...4 -
1. Trust no one even yourself
2. Ask questions even if they are stupid
3. Test your solutions, even manually
4. Write comments
5. Take your time to solve problem, even if it looks like easy see point 1
6. Take some time during work to get familiar with code and read something about technology that is part of your current work - even if you know it - see point 1
7. Always try to see a big picture - see point 2 - why is it implemented is more important then how is it implemented2 -
"Shouldn't be a problem. I can get <insert new feature here> implemented by <insert wildly optimistic time>. "
What is wrong with me?! Why do I keep doing this!?2 -
Computer science students and data scientists rejoice, "All algorithms" implemented in many common languages:
https://github.com/TheAlgorithms16 -
I’m a baby and for some reason thought that bootstrap would take too long to learn :/ just learned, redesigned and implemented an entire site using bootstrap in like an hour :/
Y am i like this5 -
Spent 10 minutes starting to implement XML serialization in my old app... and then realize i already implemented it.1
-
Today, implemented Binary Tree from scratch and then wrote a unit testing suite from scratch in my personal project.
Pretty neat.7 -
Beginning of the project:
git commit -m "Added index.html, implemented user-creation"
Towards the end of the project:
git commit -m "Idunno, did some stuff or so (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻"2 -
When your boss or client comes to you and asks if it's done, but also has a ton of changes they want to see implemented 😓1

Working for a company that hasn’t fully implemented git yet.
Servers are a freaking mess.

Today in work I spotted a shoddy solution within the system. When I looked up who'd implemented it I found out it was me 6 months ago... Feel like going back in time and giving myself a slap
-
Screw League of Legends incompetent devs. They implemented a anti cheat solution that prohibits linux (wine) and VM users to play the game. This is really stupid. Better learn to play dota now...14
-
It says "There was no battery found."
This laptop was not connected to a power adapter, but Windows also said that there is no battery. Did I missed the update where Microsoft implemented magic wireless energy?7 -
Update log: performance improve, API rewritten, fixed all bugs reported, new features implemented, general cleanup of code, documentation and comments update
Feedback: love the new background colour!
😞3 -
To those wondering what it's like to onboard to CORP projects:
> create an access request for role APP1_ADMIN_RW
> wait for 2 weeks
> chase for approvals
> chase for implementation
> be ignored for another 1 week
> 3 weeks later receive an email: "your request has been implemented. Now you have access to role APP1_USER_RO"3 -
*windows update gets stuck on a black screen*
MOTHERFUCKING WIND-oh wait it rolled back the update and booted fine on its own.
Hey, progress.
Gotta hand it to whoever at Microsoft implemented this, was smooth af.4 -
If implemented, India will have the strongest net
neutrality guidelines in the world.
To ajit fuckface pai, please learn something from your origin.

PS: please forgive India for ajit fuckface pai.6 -
Cons of not having proper documentation.
Wasted whole day reading code because I have to implement a feature. Turns out to that the feature is already implemented, just needed to be plugged.4 -
I really like how Opera Mini says it has an AdBlocker implemented, yet the app 'Contains Ads' according to Google. Guess it's not an effective blocker.8
-
What's the dystopian future you fear in software and development?
Personally, I already see all the desktop environments implemented on top of a HTML engine.17 -
Sure you know this one:
* Mobile project with realtime notifications
* CEO asks for push implemented with own sockets instead of using firebase or gcm
* Spends loads of time of money and time
* Asks to dev why It costs so much
* Blames the dev for socket implementatiom2 -
Just implemented a design from a UI/UX designer in code. Works perfectly on iOS, now to test on android.2
-
#8
Instead of writing migrations the former dev implemented a migrate route. Wich triggered a method on the "mainController" to run several SQL statement and migrate.
😓🔨4 -
After my colleague noticed me of this..."feature", I immediately thought I'd ask you all, why is it even implemented then?5
-
When you're lazy to implement a little feature you thought about but the feature gets implemented anyway because of some bug in your code..
True story btw3 -
Subject of message: "Important: New feature for all 000webhost users." Thanks, 000webhost, an hour of downtime a day was exactly the feature I wanted to be implemented. P.S. if you have OCD, don't look at how many unread messages I have10
-
Me: yo DEV2 parse this string into a hashmap. Use regex, 2 rows of code are enough for the job
DEV2: implemented 40 rows of switch/if cases into nested for loop.
Please kill me 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🇮🇹3 -
Re-implemented a Perl-based log analysis script in plain old C to make it faster.
Horrible implementation... Good times.6 -
different kinds of doneness:
- The German kind: The method is thought through, implemented, documented, errors are handled and thoroughly tested.
- The "other" way: The method is there ... somewhere3 -
So I was finally done with the project, every feature was implemented the way I wanted it be, every piece of code optimized and well written, I was completely satisfied with my code and didn't feel the urge to add a "last little feature/optimization"...
.
.
.
Then I woke up 😭😭😭2 -
If I see "React is revolutionary" one more time....
If you think React or React Hooks are innovative or are implemented correctly or performantly at all, you're a sheep.7 -
Senior dev. "we need a reason why we haven't fully implemented social service signup yet"
Junior dev. "let's say it's new for us"
Senior. "great idea. Let's get this done."
..,
Now try to signup to pixabay using your Google account.... 😒1 -
anyone else have their own side projects where they follow no structure and pretty much make spaghetti code just to get it finished asap so you can make money off the system you are building? lol. not proud of the code i wrote today but damn did I get a lot of functionality implemented.8
-
Boss: "We need this change implemented tomorrow"
Me: "No problem, it's completed"
Boss: "Wait you didn't follow change protocol you need to allow 5 business days for review and approval"
Me: ....2 -
Just saw this in a production app. There's a reason no other language implemented VB's OnErrorResumeNext, BECAUSE IT'S A F***ING TERRIBLE IDEA.
Catch (exception e)

//not really an issue

Team estimated a huge feature with 60 days. Made a prototype in a day, implemented it in the project the next day. Code looks a lot cleaner than a previous similar solution.
Now it’s 90% done. Should have worked with 2 other people. Oh well, sorry not sorry for that teamwork.3 -
Imagine posting something about nvm (node version manager) and then quitting via nvm figured out thingy
Imagine proposing an actual `nvm figured out` command to nvm team and then it’s implemented so you can legitimately post “nvm figured out” as a solution2 -
I can't consider myself as a programmer anymore. All I do at work is debug the shit other people produce. It might have been more than a month since I implemented a feature.3
-
[CMS of Doom™]
Gotta love the fact that the fuckers who originally "coded" this abomination of a CMS implemented a method which replaces some text before sending the HTML to the client.
Guess what fucks with my code?6 -
Friday meeting 2 hours before the weekend:
Manager: I want this and this and that and that feature implemented.
Me: Ok, next week I'll do it.
Monday meeting 2 hours after the weekend:
Manager: Have you already implemented this and this and that and that feature you promised to do?
Me: No3 -
Mention support link support is here! It took me a while but I successfully implemented it and it took way longer than it should’ve.9
-
Y'all ever learn something and just kinda smile about it?
I finally got a decent understanding of lower level concurrency control like mutexes and sephamores (I knew about atomicity before but never knew how it was implemented) and I just got this huge grin across my face.7 -
I have a habit of leaving random TODOs in random files of projects I work on. Then, when I come back to work on the projects I display a list of all TODOs and try to implement them only to find out that I already implemented everything and forgot to delete the TODOs, on the positive side I feel like I accomplished a lot without actually doing anything 😂😂😂
-
Client emails me changes to be implemented at 11:50pm. Received an email at 9am asking why they haven't been done yet......2
-
There are clients who always suggest an idea then after they suggest they will say "...again don't do this yet, its not a big deal blah blah blah"
Then the other day they will ask if their idea is already implemented.
🤦🏻♂️6 -
**idea** => implemented.
An android application which aims to track Emergency Response Vehicles(e.g. Ambulance, Firetrucks) nearby.
Any suggestions, feature ideas are welcomed.
If you wish to contribute:
https://github.com/MakrandBhale/...
P.S. I'm new to Git.21 -
Well not bad for my first try eh? I implemented a std::vector-like container and it's about 4 times as fast as std::vector10
-
Gotta love kotlin!
@osiris1337 the refactoring is going great
I had a 80 lines long model class with all the getters and setters and Parcelable interface implemented
and all of that converted to kotlin like this
@-psr another reason, small and readable code ^_^1 -
Today is was the smoothest PHP session I ever had!
Implemented OTP system for a project in about 2 hrs without any hurldes.
Php is awesome with OOPs!
Now I can get a good Sleep. Goodnight !8 -
I have an interface implemented by 11 classes, coz u kno, it's "SOLID". But today i felt my life is a lie when a developer refactored my code and deleted all those classes and placed them in a Utils class with static methods, and slapped me with "Let's make it simple".14
-
When I implemented a new algorithm in C and beat the previous implementation of a tool by 5 seconds in speed (17s best case before) and my mentor implemented the same algorithm's pseudo code beating the previous implementation by 14s.19
-
Just commited to my repo ; last commit was 6 days ago. I'm happy, finally decided what algorithm i'll use and implemented it !! :)
-
Created 'GET STARTED' section in our application in English. It will guide new user to Highlight some App features.
End User started Posting screenshot of it in our feedbacks service : What this is?
Implemented 'GET STARTED' in local languages.
End user started posting screenshot of Language Drop Down, what this is?
Implemented 'GET STARTED' on Location based Language.
End User : I am here in Banglore seeing it in Different Language, my other Partners in Hyderabad are seeing it in different language. What this is?
Removed 'GET STARTED'.
End User : It was a nice feature. Why you removed it? What this is?
May be i over reacted but i am not bringing it back.8 -
https://ietf.org/rfc/rfc2324.txt/
Has anyone actually implemented this? If yes, thank you, and please share.4 -
I had no idea of how to implement the logic of a ticket. That's why I started with creating some unit tests that failed. Then I continued working until they all passed.
So it works now.
I have still no idea of how I implemented the logic.3 -
Guess who implemented a whole new feature in 3.5 lines of code and a simple CSS class.
This awesome guy.
Take that, frameworks.6 -
Go to the vacation.
Return back to see all those useless features that should not be part of the MVP, that I have previously rejected multiple times, poorly implemented...
Now we have to maintain this shit, that nobody even uses in real life...
Fucking imaginary use cases... -
Management: List your most significant achievement during this cycle.
Me: Developed and implemented a full stack of database micro containers that allow scalability and reusability. -
Noticed a rant on here about transactions not redirecting the user back to the previously visited page, on certain sites. Just implemented the functionality to my shitty little project and I currently feel better than the big players.1
-
Anyone else been lightly formatting rants and comments with **markdown** hoping for it to be implemented?
_I know I have_1 -
Fuck it, implemented another idea: image voronoi, it computes a voronoi diagram over the input image, each cell is then populated with the average color inside that cell
https://txstc55.github.io/ImageVoro...
This is an image with the get high option on
I’m so productive and I’m proud of myself6 -
Keep it simple, but at the same time try to build it so that any known or unknown future change can be easily implemented. Do not block your future.1
-
2 weeks before release of my App.
Have implemented nearly all major features.
Everytime I tell myself ah I can work tomorrow. What am I doing instead? Fucking Gaming lol.
Motivation is a bitch...5 -
I beg your pardon that I did not implemented the mind-reader API and my app doesn't know if a discount is expired when you DIDN'T FUCKING SET AN EXPIRATION DATE YOU ARSEBADGER!!
-
A: "Mate, do the translations"
B: "Fine, but you guys implemented the translation service so repetitively..."
A: "No, this is not repetitive, that's how we need to do it"
*sigh*
PS: Whenever I call the "trans" method, I think of transgender, don't ask why4 -
The most annoying co-worker(*team*) I have worked with just signed off a custom project that uses plain text passwords, hard coded into a file.. PLAIN TEXT!!! NO HASH!!! NOTHING!!! The same team also told me that working in feature branches cuts into their productivity, but they want CI/CD implemented NOW!3
-
#5
Of course the previous dumbass dev could not use the findOrFail() method, because he didn't used any models.
But he just implemented his custom get404() method.
😓🔨2 -
My co-worker pointing out there is a problem with my code that isn't implemented 100% yet. Hinting she wanted me to finish it over the weekend.
Yeah FMDL. -
Today at work, I finally had to use and implemented an algorithm they teach in textbooks... And also thought about Big O. I feel so happy as this is a first... All those hours of reading about algos has finally had some use!1
-
First: happy birthday, devRant.
Second: the more I use it, the more I would like to see implemented as a block-chain, a la Steemit -
Did you know that you can't up vote your comments/rants on devRant? Wish it was implemented on other platforms.2
-
Omg lol.
Me: so should we track changes to the data, so we have a history?
Client text: i don't think a history needed.
Client text 30s later: certain changes should have history.
So am i right to anticipate that after this is implemented he will say
Where are the other changes? -
I'm currently working on a feature that no one likes. Everyone knows that it will be removed soon because the users won't understand it, but it still has to be implemented due to client-side Management madness.
Good thing: the contract with this client expires in 3 weeks :) -
So I showed a prototype of a new feature to my colleague and guess what !! He took the entire idea and implemented it. 😡4
-
So COSMOs hasn't implemented a proper clearing method for lists... Having to do this to clear my output list hurts!7
-
#Ransomware :US engineers trying to find antivirus, Europe engineers finding preventing tools, meanwhile Indian engineers already updated their resume with " Worked/Implemented anitvirus for ransomware"
Meanwhile. . Indian HR consultants asking for minimum 5 years experience in handling "ransomware"3 -
Once I implemented a giant ASCII skull for logging a fatal error in the company's app. Let's just say my feature did not get to production.4
-
Going to release the biggest feature I have implemented for Product I work on. Change in more than 150 files and it is very very critical.
Wish me luck..3 -
Just an suggestion. It has 90% possibility that this is a repost, but...
Can we have the post rant/comment to markdown? So that we can make the editor to markdown and view the rants in markdown.
Doesnt really need to be implemented though.1 -
I have never encountered a codebase so horrendous. The styles are so fucking bad.
Give me a codebase with a poorly implemented programming langauge, fine.
Give me a codebase with styles that have been copy/pasted off Stackoverflow a million times until something works, not fucking fine. -
Today I implemented a system for storing all errors in a global store in Vue. That means field validation errors, API errors and potential generic errors. It works really well, and displaying an error is as simple as referencing it's source, if any. Flexibility at its finest.
-
I don't understand the hype among the non technical people about Blockchain! Why the fuck they want to implement everything in Blockchain? Don't they know that it is not for every single application and mostly used for some trustless applications?
Now one of our clients wants his restaurant website to be implemented in Blockchain!2 -
I've implemented an in memory caching system for database queries with Redis in one of the blogs I manage.
Will it work well? Or do you think it will produce issues? I have no experience with Redis yet.14 -
studied node.js (express) and socket.io today, then implemented a real time chat service in our site. I can say that this is the best and at the same time worst day of my life. I started 1:00 pm and ended 4:30 am.3
-
Stopping myself from always proclaiming how things "should have been done in the first place" - as if I never implemented anything the wrong way.
Too much focus on hinsight is an ugly thing. -
Just implemented A* and Dijkstra to get into pathfinding with graphs. Really hyped about this! TIL that Dijkstra is perfect to find the quickest subway route in my city 😏2
-
So I'm working on an SDK, I often wonder if developers will curse me as much as I curse every developer of every third-party SDK I ever implemented.
-
When you're at the end of a sprint, implemented a cool new feature and only the garbage issues are left over -.-
-
Rant to discuss Domain Driven Design (DDD) architecture.
Did anyone implemented on production?
How scalable and easy to use?
Do you recommend it? if yes in which environment? in which business types?17 -
Rust ahahaah hhaahah ahah
the trait bound `std::result::Result<std::string::String, std::io::Error>: std::convert::AsRef<[u8]>` is not satisfied
the trait `std::convert::AsRef<[u8]>` is not implemented for `std::result::Result<std::string::String, std::io::Error>`16 -
When you find an awesome, intelligent way to do something after thinking you had already found one and implemented it already.1
-
Today I asked a stupid question on stackoverflow
Got a reply which I already knew
I just hadn’t implemented it as it had to be put in a complex part of code step by step.
I took the time and implemented the solution step by step and it worked.
Why have I become like this.....old and stupid....2 -
THE FUCK MICROSOFT?! HOW COULD YOU FUCK UP ALT+BACKSPACE IN WORD 2016 WHAT IS THIS SHIT SUPPOSED TO DO IT MAKES NO SENSE, YOU CANNOT EVEN UNDO IT WHAT FAGGOT TESTED YOUR UI WHILE BEEING HIGH ON REDMOND DIRT. AND WHICH KIND OF MASTURBATING MONKEY IMPLEMENTED THIS SHIT.8
-
i wrote a website, a server in go, a small os in c, a game in js, a game and server and web scraper and other desktop apps in java, mobile apps with flutter, a website with php also, implemented aes in go, wrote a parser in java. done sysadmin stuff on my vps and pihole/openvpn/nextcloud on my rpi. learn about c vulnerabilities and used metasploit. attempted to write an interpreted language. did some led displays with arduino. currently learning tensorflow.
i have never...
- written a driver
- made a game with a game engine
- created a file encoding
- implemented an oauth2 server
- made an api
- worked with vr
what am i missing? i want to be a very well rounded dev.13 -
Just implemented a feature using Builder pattern .
State of mind : aaaghh fuck this shit , i am in hell . let's get some rest before integrating and testing this disaster
after some rest , while integrating " Oh you beauty my past self, i love you😍😍😍😍 -
i started a project a couple months ago and i used ORM for the queries, cause it's already implemented. thing is, this project came directly from hell and the math is stupid af. it requires subqueries in subqueries and the data that was provided is trash. I'm giving up on the ORM, it's not scalable.
-
This regular expression documentation thing is coming along. Added capture groups and backreferences. Think I just need to tackle Unicode property escapes and control characters.
But now I feel like I should have implemented it differently. Like, maybe instead of “‘a’ followed by ‘b’ followed by ‘c’, I should have just done ‘abc’.
*sigh*1 -
I hated the detailed, shadow-y icons that Windows 10 implemented a while back.
Now CopyApple is using them too...
Am I just crazy? Am I wrong about this new design trend being total ass?
Also: Apple literally copying everything now huh.12 -
University switched to Office 365. Just realized they implemented "Focused" inbox mode that auto filters messages microsoft deems less important. It filtered 3 important emails from last week. Just give us back the ability to make our own rules and filters again!!2
-
That feeling when everyone on devrant is shitting EU for Internet censorship while I'm here worrying about my country's future when they implemented Syaria Law. Very torn about it to be honest.6
-
I love when a project puts a dependency on infrastructure that has not been implemented internally and have no idea if it will work. *sarcastic voice*1
-
You know you're doing enterprise style agile when every two weeks requires a 20 person four hour meeting to go over what was actually implemented in the spring2
-
Designed and implemented a bug tracking service for the team that I was working, even now everyone is loving and using it.
-
I've implemented my own version of IoT all over my room and home.
Hope the protocol I've designed has proper security...1 -
One year of work for request info on a new project, silence... First day of vacancy, request a how to on a function implemented 3 month ago. Fuck You...1
-
"Nah we can't implemented that feature cause our urls are hashed". Hmm, that looks like a base64 string. Decode. Profit!
-
Hell yeah! Just learned React/Redux. Implemented it into a view;
1 file changed, 34 insertions(+), 282 deletions(-)
rewrite app/views/landing_page/property.slim (96%)
Feels good! :D -
I love exceptions - ANSI C with exceptions - that would be perfect for me.
I know that there are different opinions out there... I can’t understand why they haven’t implemented exceptions into Go. I have read the article why they didn’t but for me... exceptions are a GREAT language concept!!!!3 -
When your PM wants you to write Stored Procedures to interface with a data model that hasn't been implemented because "We're agile"😑1
-
PO: suggests a new feature to be implemented
My dev colleague almost always responds no matter what the feature is: 'it's simple to do'
Me: 'Dying inside'6 -
When the manager wants something, it's discussed and agreed upon by the entire team, it's implemented and 2 days later the boss tells you to take it down and that stuff shouldn't be implemented without discussing it with him. And the manager just stands there in silence fully knowing it was his idea. Be or don't be the manager I don't care, but pick one.1
-
Being able to confidently say infront of the CEO that everything you implemented is working just fine, while their business is standing still because another software company fucked up almost everything, having tried everything to blame us for the errors, reminds me of why I’m doing this shit.2
-
I really like the way Nuxt.js handles routes so I implemented it in PHP with some additional features. Will release soon!
(Basically as a own microframework)1 -
So I've finally implemented face detection in my discord bot.
@Wisecrack regarding the openCV training, I'm still taking positive and negative samples, so it'll be another while.
Also, why is post @ing not a thing5 -
All of the basic features of the rewrite have been successfully implemented! Ranting, commenting and even different types of posts have been implemented.
In 1 fucking month. Fuck, if that’s not impressive I don’t know what would be honestly.
Now - time for notifications.2 -
One thing I have truly learned from software development is DON'T REINVENT THE WHEEL. Someone out there may have already implemented such functionalities and if the library is missing something a PR is always welcomed! (Obviously taking about open source libraries)6
-
which would be the coolest stat that you could get from devRant?
i kinda wanna know what % of ++'s are to me, or what % of rants are from me. of course, if this were implemented, i'd think it should be private?
thoughts?5 -
Just pushed to production an untested feature implemented using code from StackOverflow.
Let's see how this goes1 -
Why developer of c# (Anders Hejlsberg) when developing (TypeScript) not implemented method overloading and interfaces' methods implementation with same names.3
-
I don't know about obnoxious processes, but I do know about one single event that happens WAY more than it should, and that might be people from customer relations coming with "new awesome features that MUST be implemented asap"
oh boy the times I've pictured me shoving a scrum guide down their throats....3 -
A sudden click inside my head when I was at the uni trying to implement sudoku. I understood everything I was taught all three years prior, implemented everything I could think of and finished uni with an A for diploma

I implemented the complete *eval()* function for arithmetic Expression in java
It can compute any kind of arithmetic Expression even with parenthesis grouping

Boss wanted our AES implemented to use an Initialization Vector. I changed the implementation to add an IV and all the tests passed on the first try!
I changed the implementation to fail just to make sure I wasn't getting false positives. -
I just realized it'll take years for Java to catch the way C# implemented lambda expressions.
And really devrant? one rant per 2 hours?2 -

Client push back: when the client wants an impractical feature to be implemented and you tell them HELL NO, with a little sugar coating of course

So we have this new vp guy, and a team in US and another in india
The vp asked me to finish one task by tonight 11pm, and if I need help with the India team's code, call a guy there to help debug
After some debugging with that dev, he replies with:
The code won't work because we haven't implemented it yet
.........
Yo, what the hell is wrong with people
How am I supposed to finish a task that isn't even implemented, and why pushing so much to have it done, wtf I'm so confused with this
Every week a new headache like this, but this was laughable, in two weeks I start a new job 😂6 -
AHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH Not only did my StarSpace got "hacked" i would say abused , but I had my password in clear text so did he GOT MY DevRant account now aswell!!

Didn't have something to do tonight, and I was kind of thinking to make a multicore brainfuckversion for a while, so tonight I implemented it. I call it multiFuck:

The client has been working with MySQL his whole life, wants me to make a front end for a site but insists on making what he calls the backend in my terms the database himself. So he wants the ability to drop and add rows, tables from the database itself somehow implemented, any ideas?6

Pretty much half of what clients ask for.
But to be more specific a username on a login form instead of an email address when it already had ratelimiting lockouts implemented on an internal network. -
A colleague blocked a full big refactoring to go live just because there were missing marker interface which they wanted to be implemented by any other interface which was actually part of the core functionality. A marker interface...a marker interface...
P.S. we can't merge stuff on main branch if a team member vetos2 -

Considering paying my boss to drop a client, because a function only they need can't really be implemented more brilliantly than a huge if/else, doubling the size of the source code.

When I implemented "multiple selection using ctrl click or shift click" and it worked perfectly. I was literally dancing around the room!
That was probably the first time I ever danced due to happiness. -
Realising how fucked and broken python's type system is because none of the type checkers have implemented it correctly.2

At what point did IT stop focusing on outcomes and start putting all energy into rhetoric? I feel like every IT department is “all show” and “no go” these days. If after 5 years your idea keeps blowing everything up in production, it wasn’t a good idea, regardless of how many buzz words you’ve implemented.9

cbc vs gcm vs ... for my app?
currently ive get ecb 256 bit already implemented and working well, but i want an extra layer of privacy. if you had to send your ssn or credit card number over a vulnerable network, would you be more comfortable encrypting it with cbc or gcm?9 -
So been working with the COSMOS framework and I have litteraly spent more time reworking the CLI to be so much more functional... Still haven't implemented a simple echo command but hey... Shit looks pretty that's all that matters... Right... Right?

What kind of E-Learning platform are we missing? What should be new & implemented?
Any suggestions guys?5 -
When working with a customer and he says that the implementation can wait for a bit. But then decides that there needs to be a temporary implementation in 2 days. And it can later be implemented the way it should be.. Thanks for letting me know on time! #timeVeryMuchWasted

So far, the largest hurdle for myself is realising that most people don't understand the struggle sometimes towards getting a feature implemented, or a bug squashed. In the end, it's all about the end product.
-
"It would be great if the feature would be implemented either today or tomorrow."
Well, nice wishful thinking. It does not constitute an emergency on my side though.1 -
Never opened a long forgotten program you wrote to be astonished how it was well implemented?
Usually looking at old code the reaction is "WTF!did i wrote this crap?" but in some cases you can find hidden gems. -
First Rant on here!
One of the most frustrating things I have come across in PowerShell is non properly implemented ErrorAction methods in Microsoft maintained modules.
When you are attempting to write a quick script with simple yet proper error handling and Microsoft fumbles the ball at the 1 yard line! -
In my previous job, implemented a javascript harlem shake easter egg in a search box. Was funny, but unnecessary.

Came across a new definition of the word "Implemented" in work today. As far as I can tell, it can be most accurately explained as:
When 1 or more people think about the feature and record a thought about it, without actually delivering anything. -

So, I implemented a 30 min jogging first thing in the morning to my daily routine.
Needless to say that I've done it for about 3 days before I failed at waking up early enough to run before having to leave for college. It was a fun ride though 😊 -
Getting absolut frustrated when the bug fix you implemented does not work no matter what you do and how many times you do it, making sure its done correctly.
- Rebooted the machine.
it works.
great, and that was that day at the office.1 -
Hey all ruby devs! I've recently made a redux gem implemented in native ruby, that allows you to completely decouple state from your code. If any of you like the redux design structure and want to use it in your backend, check out https://github.com/alexdovzhanyn/...

It's really frustrating, how named params have been suggested since php 5.6 but never since implemented, it's a thing that I just keep missing from .net and other languages, that have had it for more than a decade now.

Everything was good. We were a very sophisticated agile team. We knew our work very well and we were proud of it. Every new feature was implemented in matters of hours. Everyone happy. Me, other developers, managers, customers. Until the other team felt a bit bored and decided to build a New Deploy System!

So I have come to the conclusion that I need to brush up on my C# stuff. Apparently they implement a bunch of data structures that I am used to coding myself are implemented in C# and I think I lost out on a job because of it. Any suggestions on tutorials and such?1

Sometimes I wonder if it's the norm, that the frontend reassemble almost nothing on the backend...
Even worse when a solution is agreed and sold one way, but implemented another.
Usually eliminating the opportunity to properly expand on, without hacky work-arounds.. further driving the technical debt..1 -
When your about to go on vacation and the day before your PM decides it's the time to ask if a bunch of never before talked about complex features have been implemented in your application... I don't know are there tickets for them or how about documentation? No? Then No.

Opinion | According to you, how impressive is it for a high schooler to submit a "general purpose scripting language that supports Object Orientation, closures, higher-order funcs." as a project for college admission given that the applicant implemented it from scratch and you know that hard work!!! ?9

What the hell is wrong with PreferenceScreen in Android? It's a disgusting horrible piece of shit. It looks awesome, but actually it's a horrible trap. Just wasted a whole day, when I could have just implemented it from scratch myself. Never gonna use that piece of crap again.

I was tasked to implement SSO. I was quite terrified, because I am working on legacy project where everything is implemented poorly. After series of question I finally found out that client's image of sso is just connecting to another db to validate against user table. I felt relieved :D

FUCK YOU DRUPAL 8, FUCK YOU. Why the fuck attaching libraries does not import them in specified order, but AT RANDOM ORDER, that changes on every cache clearing? Whoever implemented this needs to get their head out of their ass right the fuck now!3

Gotta work this entire weekend, including tomorrow... and then the iOS code starts acting up. Haven’t even implemented Android communications yet.
Please have mercy upon me. This is so Kirby—sucks and blows. -
"Programs implemented while high contain more bugs and take longer to write (p < 0.05) --- a small to medium effect (0.22 ≤ d ≤ 0.44). We also did not find any evidence that high programmers generate more divergent solutions." He et al. at ICSE 2024.6

Upgraded the company operations system system from AIX to Red Hat EL with near zero issues and no business interruptions. Platform and OS all in one. Been trying to repeat that with. NET 4 years into it and only 30% done with nothing but problems until we implemented CI & CD.6

Can someone explain me how a global discriptor table is implemented in a kernel? My problem is basicly that I want to build a kernel that can run seperate programs in userland. But I don't quite understand how the GDT and LDT should be implemented.1

Today, I found out that the webmaster for the organization I volunteer at is using a security-by-obscurity PHP implemented design for the private data of our members. I've talked with him about it, but for a variety of reasons to do with organization and workload, it won't be changing.

When I implemented a supplier's library, I noticed my app froze every time I called that library. I then asked the suppliers if they were doing any heavy stuff on the main thread and they told me they weren't.
Luckily, they were "right", StrictMode told me they were only dumping a whole log file... -
Subtle giving hints the whole day so a better desing is implemented instead of the one chosen without previous discussion.

I've implemented Chat function for my app. Since I'm a security noob what is the preferred way of encrypting the messages End-to-end maybe?
I'm definitely not leaving them as plain text :)4 -
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 330s and it shows the battery percentage remaining when we press any key on the keyboard while the laptop is switched off. This is a really handy feature. Does anyone know how it is implemented or how could it be implemented (on other laptops) ?
Don't just ++, favorite this post, pin it (so, you can comment on it if you find the way later) and please, mention it in the comments if you know it.4 -
I just compare WinAPI ans WASAPI(audio) and you just remark the technical background : one is shitty and old as hell and the other intuitive, simple, developer friendly and well implemented.3

Sadly that's all I've implemented so far and I don't have a lot of time for these things :-/
But damn puppeteer is cool!
shit I mixed up kissmanga and kissanime... -
Side project I wish I started would be an online game. If I just got something playable implemented I am sure I would play it myself then enhance it to be great.
I don't expect I can make a living out of it but ever since I was in school I wanted to be a game developer.1 -
I just ended up making a program that shows news depending on the user's current emotions.
I implemented OpenCV and CK+ dataset to make this possible. Also, Feedparser for getting news. Now looking into PyQt for making all of this into a GUI app.
So happy that all of this was completed within a week and without much hitches. -
The time I implemented a variable timer in my game on NodeJS. I noticed it would not always run at 60 fps depending on the machine. I implemented a check to see if the fps is above or below 60. If the fps was above I added more time between each run, if it was lower I shortened the time(to a limit). Sure it is a bit hacky but it worked well. As an added bonus the check runs every loop so even if another program is started and slows down the machine, the game can speed back up to 60 fps.3

Math.abs(x) I use this a lot, along with all trigonometry functions, which I love and am also glad they are implemented2

Random thoughts...
Just implemented policy-based authorization in dotnet core, long story short to lock an endpoint to a certain policy I just add: [Authorization(Policy = "NAME")]
on top of function/controller declaration
Was wondering how it is done in other languages, like NodeJs, Java, Kotlin ...etc11 -
after much discussion we removed the "implemented" column in our task board, now 10 homeless tickets stuck between "in progress" and "in review"

Do any of people working on react.js framework have researched how vdom works internally or how fiber is actually implemented?2

Not being sure about if the way I did or implemented a feature/functionality was the best practice and if not, is it worth it to try to come with a better way of doing it? I get paranoid about having problems showing up now because I did something not thinking ahead in the past1

I'm currently developing a mobile web browser. Does anyone have any suggestions, or tips that can be implemented?6

the thing I love the most about the open source community is this: need a feature? open an issue and 8 times out of 10 it's implemented on the next version.1 -
Devs can a Webhook be implemented in Android.? What I want is to observe a URL on which the back end might send multiple POSTs for a while...
I suggested them that we can use Push Notifications instead of Webhook but the back end devs won't listen...3 -

Every time I learn something new, and get it implemented in/as a Project
Someone help me to start studying for Exams, can't get myself to it 😂 -
The fact that it sometimes makes me wonder "Why am I learning this? This feature seems better implemented in newLISP." when I am learning a new programming language.

So really there's no way to use unity on a high DPI monitor in Linux?
I can't believe this is still not implemented..2 -

I unironically can't figure out how to upgrade to devRant++ on desktop. It's cool that you don't want to nag but cmon!
I did find it in the mobile app. Is it just not implemented in the browser view?2 -
That "so well" implemented interal software for testing, with that awesome, handy and clear visual interface...

I have a question. If a hiring manager wants details on some of your projects, is that normal? (I've had some ask, but never this deep and over the phone)
Example: UI/API/ALGO how they were implemented, which parts you implemented, what was accomplished, pacific tools, why are you proud of those?
Looking for diversity in projects.
It's for a job interview. I thought it was weird, but Maybe I'm over thinking. Before I email them back, I wanna see what u guys/gals think.
BTW this email is from the HR Manager, not hiring manager, so I'm just going off her word. "She said, He said" sort of thing.
Thanks!5 -
What do you do when you realise that the code that you have been maintaining code that does illegal stuff (written by others years ago, but you implemented major changes so that the illegal stuff keeps functioning).
Here, illegal is the violation of terms8 -
That very moment when you start to visualize your workflow after hours of head scratching, and realize how simply it could be implemented with so much lesser lines of code in comparison to what you thought previously.

Product can't keep track/understanding of how they want things sorted
but we implemented their original spec, provided feedback they approved , and as the implementer of the algorithm need to diagram it out for them to confirm they're happy with their decisions1 -
devRanters every 5 minutes be like "I haz new notifs???"

I had implemented an interval that was added when the viewport was active, and removed when inactive. This was to lessen the amount of ajax requests being done.
Though the little radio player was embedded at places, and thus the pictures didn't change at times.
I had to remove the inactivation of that interval. -
I’ve been doing a lot of solidity development lately in my professional life.
Now I get that nested arrays aren’t implemented yet. But it is still weird not being able to have an array of strings.
(Strings are arrays of characters and that would be a meted array) -
When was the last time you implemented SSO for Azure AD? What technology did you use? SAML or OpenID Connect?1

I kinda wonder why so few server frameworks have actually implemented the FastCGI spec, instead of running their own weaker HTTP server that needs to be put behind something like nginx for production anyways.

Got a Game Design sign-off due last friday. Last Thursday the GD mentiones that basic stuff isn't implemented, which she didn't take notice of for the past half year i'm developing and i should do it asap. While having another game with one trillion bugs due the same friday which is in endtest.

Trying to learn AdonisJS. Looks like a really cool framework, but having a really hard time how all of it really comes together. I get the model-view-controller philosophy that Adonis abides by, but not really how it's implemented.

Why do TPMs and non tech people ask for hard deadlines without knowing any technical details about how will it be implemented or how deep it is.
Then blaming you for giving wrong deadlines when it doesn't complete before the deadline for any reason whatsoever

imagine you "manage" your applications firewall rules by writing them into spreadsheets and sending them to the fw-admins to implement them
imagine they don't implement exactly what you tell them / implement rules for you that you did not ask for
also imagine it is crucial that you have a reliable source of information about what firewall rules are and are not implemented for your application, because the firewall-guys cant simply check and tell you what rules are implemented for your application
:o2 -
some time ago on production I fund string join implementation using substring. No idea why it was implemented at all since this is in language standard library
