Movie idea: a plane in mid air catches the wannacrypt virus and refuses manual control. The plane flies straight forward but they only have 2h until they're out of fuel and crash. The only way to pay the ransom is to get enough bitcoins but a recent price-fluctuation made the amount of bitcoins to pay way too high. The only way to resolve this is to create a tumoil on social media causing the bitcoin price to go down.

I don’t usually recommend movies to a lot of people, but if you like going to the movies, I highly, highly recommend you see “Searching”. Its wide release in the U.S. is today and it will be out internationally soon I think.
It’s probably the best thriller movie I’ve ever seen, and the best movie I’ve seen in last few years, and I see a lot of them. The tech in it is awesome, and how the movie is presented will bring back tech memories and it really is a trip down memory lane. The movie has a bit of everything. An awesome story, awesome suspense, and great use of technology and social media.

I was watching this movie's trailer called Let's Be Evil, it did look promising based on the genre (Sci-Fi, Thriller, Horror) and synopsis (includes Augmented Reality (AR) tech) BUT as I soon was on this frame right here, I am not going to watch the movie now. 😂

I will never stop being impressed by how detailed this scene in The Matrix Reloaded was.
Trinity is trying to hack into the terminal and shut down the power grid.
nmap (network map) is a linux tool for network discovery.
It is absolutely believable that in a post apocalyptic future where computers rule the earth, the entire power grid would be on a network that you can scan for like this and shut down.
Its a such a minor detail, but I'm really happy that the writers consulted with actual programmers.

Had a miserable evening yesterday. Me and my gf planned going out around 9pm to this movie with 2 other couples. Movie was kinda okay and we finished around midnight and went over to our apartment for drinks. We had lots of snacks and drinks ready, other couples brought some drinks.
Evening was kinda weird, guests were mainly just ranting about their work and household life and 2 hours in they started asking each other wether they should go home. In the end they left around 3am. I felt kinda defeated: some effort went into planning everything, and in the end I didnt feel much of a connection to them.
Maybe everyone was tired after a workday + late movie + drinks after the movie. But idk I expected more from people in late 20s. When planning we had two options: meeting on saturday or friday and they chose friday.
Anyways I guess either we are getting older or we just need to meet less often and more early in order not to run out of energy and stuff to talk about.8 -

Ah I love that movie.. Hero, from 2002. I've seen it in the cinema three times. It's a real marvel, especially the scene where the forest turns red right after Snow killed Moon.

now im watching the movie of it. it's horrible.
i knew i didnt want to see it.. i knew it was going to suck
ive seen the book completly different in my eyes. am almost crying about it. the movie does not give any emotions at all ~ other than disapointement. it ruins my experience with the book to some extend now. it changes how my pictures that i imagined are.
the movie actors are bland. the setting and writing feels of and cheep. the scenes of the book are rushed in 1.50h. that book in a movie should have been atleast 3h. i feel betrayed by whoever made the movie.

the major point of the book that made it so good was the setting with nature. in the movie no details and focus on this are given at all.

So... what music/media/sound do you listen to while programming?
I switch between video game OSTs (Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, KH2), movie scores (The Social Network, Pride and Prejudice, and misc. stations), classical piano music, and hip hop. Sometimes I throw on Netflix on a series or movie I've already seen countless times.10 -
Watched UFO 2018.
Movie mostly about guy trying to solve math problem but nice.
Learned about fine-structure constant and that all base SI units were redefined in 2019 lol.
I don’t remember anyone mentioned that scientists changed all of standardized measurements.
Overall nice movie if you like those about solving imaginary problem without special effects etc...

So I really liked the movie Blindspotting from this summer. I originally watched it because the two main characters (and writers) are two of my favorite rappers, but it's a great fucking movie.
The way they're doing the soundtrack for the movie is basically releasing multiple EPs (honestly not 100% sure how long it's gonna go on). And I just found out that the second EP got released like a month ago. I've been listening to it and I fucking love it.
So nothing really important, I'm just really hype for this right now. -

I've been having this idea for a programmer's horror movie. The main villain is this dev (or maybe PM?) whose first program was "Goodbye World" instead of "Hello World", thus cursing all of his code from that moment on.
They write an artificial intelligence library but they don't document it properly so the user ends up creating an evil AI that threatens to destroy the internet.
Any ideas?3 -

Just watched the movie Caveman again after about 7 years since the last time. The movie never gets old. The fun part is relearning the language of the movie again. It is funny that a lot of successful actors may have made their debut in this movie.
