My recent failure to build a responsive website according to a template tells me I should have worked with CSS a bit more.
The thing is, I write the type of CSS that passes the CSS validation with flying colors, but doesn't work as it should. Am I a minority(I hate that word), in that?

My Flask App all of a sudden started throwing 'Error 500 - Internal Server Error' pages at me for a new subpage I made.
I couldn't figure WTF was wrong because the method responsible for the page literally just returned the HTML-template.
After giving up yesterday night, I noticed this morning that I forgot the quotes around the HTML-file name...

The database was in latin1.
The template wasn't even a good one, an adapted hotel booking example for a main page, contact, and news.
There were unused variables and weird functions everywhere.
3 years later and I still don't understand how it managed images. Not that I care to look back. -

Just made a proof of concept expression templates based linear algebra library for my own projects. It was actually a lot of fun to make, and seeing it spit out optimized, loop-fused code with no temporary variables...magic.

CSS quick maffs
You need to make a responsive grid that should wrap its columns on smaller screens. That's whay you do:

grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fit, minmax(15rem, auto));
}
Replace 15rem with minimal width of a grid cell. Putting 0 there is bad because columns won't wrap then.
Now, let's make our task harder. We want the same grid, but we want say 4 columns max. That's what we should do:

I once wrote a few really nice creative generic classes for an ASP.net project. Later, senior decided that we have to rewrite the whole thing, so he initialized a new project from a template and added my files in helpers/ as a starting point.2

So I just decided to create a simple coming soon page, slowly getting to grips with javascript finally (I think) but I like just diving into the code and see what comes out at the end of it.

I think I made someone angry, then sad, then depressed.
I usually shrink a VM before archiving them, to have a backup snapshot as a template. So Workflow: prepare, test, shrink, backup -> template, document.
Shrinking means... Resetting root user to /etc/skel, deleting history, deleting caches, deleting logs, zeroing out free HD space, shutdown.
Coworker wanted to do prep a VM for docker (stuff he's experienced with, not me) so we can mass rollout the template for migration after I converted his steps into ansible or the template.
I gave him SSH access, explained the usual stuff and explained in detail the shrinking part (which is a script that must be explicitly called and has a confirmation dialog).
Weeeeellll. Then I had a lil meeting, then the postman came, then someone called.
I had... Around 30 private messages afterwards...
- it took him ~ 15 minutes to figure out that the APT cache was removed, so searching won't work
- setting up APT lists by copy pasta is hard as root when sudo is missing....
- seems like he only uses aliases, as root is a default skel, there were no aliases he has in his "private home"
- Well... VIM was missing, as I hate VIM (personal preferences xD)... Which made him cry.
- He somehow achieved to get docker working as "it should" (read: working like he expects it, but that's not my beer).
While reading all this -sometimes very whiney- crap, I went to the fridge and got a beer.
The last part was golden.
He explicitly called the shrink script.
And guess what, after a reboot... History was gone.
And the last message said:
Why did the script delete the history? How should I write the documentation? I dunno what I did!
*sigh* I expected the worse, got the worse and a good laugh in the end.
Guess I'll be babysitting tomorrow someone who's clearly unable to think for himself and / or listen....

Upon completion, the client rejects mine saying that I forgot to put back buttons in the top left corner of each screen.

So I just bought an iubenda GDPR privacy policy, and literally filled it with any services I ever used, ever seen, ever could come in handy and have a genuine laugh how it would look like, if one single website used all the services, with all the options.
Great 9$ for sure, now I'll probably make myself a template generator, that removes and adds things, depending on what services I use.

While styling some frontend stuff with LESS, I experienced that on one page template the <header> was not displaying the given line-height eventhough the whole fscking code was 1:1 identical with the other template in which everything was fine. I checked EVERYTHING... caching, URL, source, classes, open / wrong tags, HEAD, ... I even did a diff compare. NO FSCKING DIFFERENCE!
After one hour of pulling out hair I suddenly saw that in the faulty template file 2 lines were missing:

Finally I was able to look into css grids in more detail and gotta say it's impressive, also "grid-template-areas" made me chuckle for a bit, at how unusual and easy you can define layouts (even compatible with media queries!), which are also heavily obvious and readable, reminds me of the old games where characters were just symbols.1

Well, today was a fun day playing with Qubes OS. I really did nothing really difficult, I created a template for multimedia pruposes (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify and VLC) based on debian and then create a domain based on that same template.
It works
Still need to fix the screen tearing, but it is nothing really serious, in fact I probably just change the graphic card to the integrated on the motherboard to see if something change.
Probably the next issue will be set a few domains for specific issues:
- Dev [personal]: This will be used for my personal projects.
- Dev [non personal]: For those times I collab with someone / not my stuff
- [√] Work: mail, msTeams, whatever from my job.
- Bank Stuff: I can asure you that
- [√] Multimedia: chill n stuff

In highschool, I was looking around for schools and universities at which I would start my student career. I went to a grad school one day, to see what it was like to be a student there. The first class I visited was programming for embedded systems. We got the assignment to write Java code to control a boom barrier. The teacher had written the template. And I kid you not, the template had a method of around 20 lines of code - without comments - with the purpose of carrying out a logical OR operation. Documenting. Starting Microsoft Word to fill in a preconfigured template. It contains two numbered lists, but the numbering incorrectly continues from the first list to the second. Right-click > numbering > Set Numbering Value > Start new list. Bang! MS Word fucks up the complete formatting, margins, tabs, paragraph spacing... But the list numbering still continues from the first list to the second.

I had a pretty good laugh just now.
There's this extension I wrote for our client's online shop which enables them to create template files via the backend. Essentially it's just an editor reading and writing files from/to a directory.
So I installed said extension using a package I found locally, thinking it was the latest release. Unfortunately it was not.
As I said the extension writes template files within it's own directory and back when I had packed up the extension, I must had forgotten to delete these template files resulting from tests and messing around.
Long story short, I just received a ticket about a line of text suddenly showing up below the product page description saying: "I like turtles!"
The ticket itself was very professional though and the client didn't forget to mention that the "notice" was not part of their product feed data. No shit! LOL2 -
I made a thing.
I then turned it into a CodeSandbox template so other people could make the thing.
I then turned it into an npm package.
The thing is a cat clock generator.

So I make websites on the side for small time clients for some additional income. And without fail every time I sit down to work on this one site something goes wrong. First there were problems with the hosting, and now the template that the client chose is no longer for sale. I hope I'm not going to lose them over this :( I've sent them a list of alternative templates and contacted the company behind the original template to ask what is up. Real shame because they picked what I considered the favourite too and now I regret waiting to fork over the money to make the purchase.5

So I made a repo to have a template to initialize node projects.
I copied the folder to a new folder and found all commits where there but I wanted to start fresh.
Quick googling on how to just start fresh ... then I realized I might just delete the .git folder, see what happens.
Then BAM! All fresh,

A certain custom template engine made by some bored developer who had too much free time and thought he could create something better than other widely used template engines. He somehow convinced the lead dev of the company at that time to use his wonderful creation and it is still there after many years.
Spoilers: it is not better than the template engines he copied the features from, and it somehow fucks up certain parts of the css and javascript which makes it a real pain in the ass to work with. -

The real web development is optimising the shitty front end code.
The task assigned to me is optimisation of dashboard page of website which was developed by freenlancers.(end of contract from their side)
The front end is mess. Individual js files (bootstrap, popper, jQuery, jQuery ui, loader and main) loading in production inside head tag of html file
No text compression.
Every template has random number of their own js files in any block of template. Nothing structured. There will be fantastic waste of time figuring out file dependencies.
Same with css files. Some are scss, some plain css. No compression. No proper modules.
Basically, I have to go through 25-30 html files. Then understand, which template is extending which one. Go through all js and css files in each html file and again understand dependencies between them
This is gonna be real fun.1 -
When I run tests, I like to enable the debug logging. All the SQL queries and template tracing just flies by. Freaks the others out.

I was struggling to figure out why my Django template render wasn't working.was looking at code for hours.
Until I found that ,at the end of my render there was a comma making it a tuple.thats why it didn't damn work. -
So.. playing around with jquerys load() function because I'm trying to implement some updating functionality to a specific div. After researching a bit, it didn't seem like it would be too difficult.. but I could not for the life of me figure out why my template was not displaying! I tried testing with just some basic html and it worked fine. Even took a few snippets from my template and again.. it worked. As soon as I copy/pasted my whole template, the page renders nothing. I was seriously getting frustrated so I started entering the template manually testing each line. It worked until I got to this special div container I made.. went and looked at the css properties for it and..

I must assume that whoever designed jinja2 was either on crack, or hadn’t used template systems before. This thing is too fucking complicated, and doesn’t make sense. From their docs:
“Jinja2 supports dynamic inheritance and does not distinguish between parent and child template as long as no extends tag is visited. While this leads to the surprising behavior that everything before the first extends tag including whitespace is printed out instead of being ignored, it can be used for a neat trick.”

Hmmmmm, the Web designer, that's designer not developer, for an ecommerce job I'm working on, just suggested we use WordPress or a html template, rather than create her own. I'm given a simple assignment to update email templates. I tot it would be a breeze.
It turn out SURPRISE! After the updating of template is done. I deploy the code in the development environment.
I tried to access the email template like how the user will see to verify all is good. It turn out i am facing error.
So uhh ok, i went to check the logs to see what the hiccups. It turn out that a table is missing. But this is production code. So my question how the hell did the production environment has the table but dev don't.....6 -
Debugging a Velocity template issue the other day where I was presenting a firm to the user to fill in some data. Whenever the user had entered in one or more lines, a 'true' kept showing up cryptically before the form. Drove me fucking nuts because there was nowhere in the template code that was printing before the form input.
Turns out it was the output of a $list.add(...) being rendered to the screen.
Spent 40 mins on that shit.

One thing I realized about my workplace: when you're given a new template to be used for an existing website project, do NOT use the included CSS files. Seems like it would be better to just manually change the looks of the website to make it similar to that template, lest you want some alignment stuff to break.
Plus, it seems that I don't even need to meet all the design requirements, because whenever I try to do that, clients tend to forget the design they originally gave and request for all these changes.
One more month... One more month and I'm off to bootcamp to properly learn.1 -

I made this template( Nuget ) showcasing how to use .NET Core MVC with Vue as a multi-page application. You can build multiple "mini spa's" to enhance UI or simply use plain .cshtml and razor if you don't need Vue on a particular page.
I would like to know, how many of you fellow .NET developers actually use full SPA applications and is something like this useful?
It features Vue.js, Typescript, Vuex, Vue router, Bulma, Sass and Webpack 4.

I learned something new while trouble shooting an email template today.
There was a weird margin at the end of my template and I have no idea where it came from. I inspected elements and found a 1x1 image.
Turns out it's a tracking link being loaded as an image.
Now I get why they call it a tracking pixel. It's literally 1 pixel.9 -
I've been trying to use obsidian.md for a while. Today I found a feature in Templater that I wish I knew about sooner.
I have a few templates I use and they are so long and clunky and I repeat parts between them because I couldn't figure out nesting templates between files. Until today.
in templater's files module (https://silentvoid13.github.io/Temp...) it includes an include function "tp.file.include(include_link: string ⎮ TFile"
and that singular function took my one 65 line template file which shares parts with other templates I'd have to remember to edit if I edited any part of it, down to 14 lines separating the shared parts into their own files.
It's a lot more DRY of a template now and will definitely make my experience using Obsidian a lot more manageable, wish I learned about this sooner3 -

Not job but during internship, the guy I didn’t like gave me the electrical circuit task, with acid bath and shit. I had to create 2 from the original tEmplate. I realized one copy had one of its connecting plate removed by mistake. I duplicated my mistake on the second copy as well.

We are in the process of launching a service like this to our existing customers. Small stores who can't afford to have their own app developed for them.

- poor CSS styling or no styling at all! (classes without any style nor js association)😠
He's just been lucky that the browser is capable of handling his shit

With C++11, fell in love with std::enable_if and others in type_traits.
Lets you take generic programming to a whole new level. I never used it when this was part of boost thinking it didn't make as much sense. Now, I like to qualify my template definitions to be as restrictive as possible based on the expected usage. -

Changed the nodejs template engine because i though its unable to parse nested object. After the second engine had the same error i checked the properties of the mongoose "populated" object and its mongooses fault.. wasted 4-5 hours of debugging just because of a missleading console.log ... FUCK!1

The biggest drawback to QObject is you cannot template a class that inherits from QObject. It is an fucking pain in the ass. I have more work arounds and boiler plate because of that crap. I end up with code that if I find in the wild I would say: "wtf is this shit?" I end up composing stuff just to make it work together without coupling too hard. I guess if it works it works. If one of you cunts ends up working on this code I will apologize right now. But I won't be sorry one bit.1

When I run this Python code on Dcoder, they shows that they are using Python 3.6.8, and not 3.7.1 as they claim. This is why I cannot use dataclasses.

I have a function called evil_js_cleaner because there is a js menu plug-in that a colleague made me use as part of a new standardized font end template . When using the js menu , it would put a bunch of extra garbage into my php _REQUEST array.1

You can do code reuse with functions, for-loops, classes, interfaces etc.
Why are they avoided in Spring, PlayFramework and similar? -
Having a code-gasam over here because reuse in Angular > reuse in AngularJS(AJS). Throw in reactive forms instead of template driven forms in AJS and I'm done.

The people who thought that providing customers with a template engine to build reports was a good idea - they made a mistake...
Users can't and won't understand a 500-line template file with 'content', 'columns', 'stack' and 'data:image' in it, and nesting levels reaching 10+
Now I have to build those reports with the added complexity of working around template engine limitations.
Can't blame the people who originally invented it. I can see how they might have thought their idea with those templates might have worked out. But it didn't work out, sorry -

I have a side project which contains very simple data (a URL and a list of strings associated with that URL). I would like a way to automatically generate a webpage for each of those links (I believe the right term is template ?). Does anyone have any suggestions? I literally create a template of flutter project with state manager (provider) . Other words, I hate setting up a new project in flutter every Fking time. So I created a Cli (written in dart) app that flutter create something something and delete the main.dart and download the templates from my source from GitHub. Like a few folders and files.

Spent days adding cloud-init to a CentOS kickstart script for a baremetal template.
I didn't want to have NetworkManager installed but had network problems.
Turns out you need to explicitly put NM_CONTROLLED=no in the config for the interface to not use NetworkManager.
Because that makes sense.

Been struggling for the past week to get a feature working in my personal project (which is the absolute core feature), and was just about ready to give up completely.
Quickly decided to see if it would work in Angular, and after a few tweaks from the default template it's working. Guess I'm not switching to React after all, even I did enjoy working with JSX -

Should I start learning typescript along with angular 2/4 or es6?2

Trying to get a stupid string to be localized in a widely used extension for typo3 (sr_freuserregister). Just add a marker to the HTML template and try to localize it via typoscript.
3 hours later im going to put in my string in English and German and just going to hide them accordingly to the language code in the <html/> tag. Holy crap.
