Client: This works correctly, but I don’t like the code.
Me: What exactly do you not like?
Client: There are barely any lines of code. You need to add more to make it better.
I...I don’t know what to say.25 -
My wife is getting better and better each day writing code. And she is starting to really love the terminal too!
With this rate, she is going to know more GNU+Linux than me.
😎7 -
My friend silently quited his job. He simply stopped coming to work and that is OK, because his contract expired last Monday. He worked for very bad company, where everyone was braging about how awesome dev they are and know everything better than him. Since company forgot to talk with him about contract renewal or to find a replacement, they are now in big troubles because braggers broke production and none know how to fix it :)7
-
JUST BECAUSE I SET UP THAT ACCOUNT FOR YOU DOES NOT MEAN I KNOW WHAT YOU CHANGED YOUR PASSWORD TO.
phew all better now3 -
"But I don't know where to start..."
"... just start typing, be willing to mess up, and if you get lost just start over with better understanding from messing up. Eventually it'll work."1 -
Website Intro: Hello! I'm here to tell you how my life changed since I learned to build websites and became independent blah blah blah
Me: Cool. One sec.
*scrolls down*
Footer: Proudly powered by WordPress. Get the theme here!
Me: Bruh... No.11 -
Headphones are in, colleague calls my name, I take them out a little annoyed at the interruption.
Colleague: what did one window say to the other?
Me: you're such a pane you know that?
Colleague: no but fuck! That's better1 -
Agency: "Why don't you do more free work for us? When you do that we can give you better jobs for money?"
Me: "so if I do free work for you, I get to do paid work as a reward? ..you know that I am a freelancer, not your employee, don't you?"
*agencysulking*4 -
I thought, maybe, MAYBE I’ll meet a better class mate for uni group project since I’m at master degree instead of bachelor...
WELL FUCK, there is still people who played dead when I tried to chat them. Fuck group project, fuck you if you read this, I know you’re here sometimes14 -
My boss: it hasn't been done yet?
Me: I'm not sure about the way to do it...
My boss: It is THAT tricky?
Me: no, I know a bunch of ways to do it, but is there a better one...3 -
Apparently, because I know how computer works and how to program
I also had to know how to:
- become rich
- hack into banks
- solve all world problems
- make a better windows/facebook/apple/google
- repair a burned down PC
Sometimes I think they are scared that I'm able to zap them with a lightning strike as if would be a motherfucking wizard.
Still love my family though ;)3 -
Although I know it's nothing, the irony is real.
My room is connected to the power group together with 5 other people.
Watching a mass surveillance documentary.
Suddenly my power goes out, the rest stays on.
I know it must be a glitch in the newly installed power management system but damn the timing couldn't be better!4 -
What's wrong with this developer. I know at some point Eclipse was king, so you better stop playing with peoples emotions, lol 😅.7
-
Senior devs out there, please be supportive to juniors. Don't treat them bad just because they don't know as much as you do. Guide them and help them learn and grow as devs. That'll make your company (and/or the community) a better place to work at, because everyone will be a better dev, and you might learn and grow in the process as well.15
-
There is no reason for any developer to not know git well. No fucking reason. Stop making shit harder for everyone by being like “oh I’m not the keenest on git” STFU and just learn it better you pussy.28
-
Don't apply for a job that you don't like. You're gonna hate your life.
Don't ask for a salary you know you're not worth.
Work in a tech company as much as possible. If you don't, you're gonna be treated as a powerpoint presentation expert, office installation expert, video editor/movie maker expert, IT support guy, loose plug/broken headset repairman, facebook hacker, and a dark magician all at once. Most (not all) tech companies know who you are better. They understand your needs better.7 -
Guys, Guys, Guys!
I've just won employee of the month! And you know what is even better? The elders of the internet allowed to lend the internet to me to use it in my speech! I couldn't be happier (they even know who I am!)10 -
Update on the devRantFX:

i'm seriously over mobile devs not understanding what backend architecture looks like.
the "we don't need a backend, we just need an API." statement drives me up the fucking walls. stop it, you should know better.
sincerely -
your friendly neighborhood web developer.6 -
Anyone else feel like the rebranding was completely forced?
The typeface was so much better before. Google, I know you've invested heavily in sans-serif-ing the world for some reason but come on. Give it a rest.9 -
To everyone in hurricane war path...
YOUR WONDERFUL STUBBORN ASSES BETTER LET ME KNOW YOU'RE OK. I'M GOING TO BE WORRIED SICK UNTIL ALL THESE FUCKING WATER TORNADOES ARE DONE.32 -
It's so annoying! One of the developers just started explaining to me some of the recent changes in the infrastructure. I made these changes! I know about them and can explain them better than he did. I tried telling him that I already know but he just wouldn't stop. It felt like he was mansplaining. I don't usually get that at work so it was weird and frustrating.11
-
Perhaps if companies were driven not by greed, but by quality and improving the respective field they are in, perhaps the world would be a better place... But what do I know...7

Conversation with Boss about a new project.
[Me]: We have to program an API and preferably our own backend, so that all the wishes of the customer are covered. In addition, there will also be an app later, as the customer has requested
[Boss]: Why should we program everything from scratch?
[Me]: We do not have to program everything from scratch, we can already use some existing stuff, or even use frameworks etc. But the project is so complex that such a path must be taken.
[Boss]: Hmm, ok.
... some time later ...
boss comes to me.
[Boss]: (shines and is very happy) I have the perfect solution! We simply use Shopware and finish the project as soon as possible.
Are you fucking kidding me? I’ve never worked with Shopware, and the Backend looks like fucking Windows 98. He’s not even a Dev! So how can he judge it that way?
he does that every fucking time!!10 -
DevRant is the best. I just gave Imgur another try. It still makes me depressed and loose faith in humanity. All those stupid people. DevRant is much better. Here we have smart people that know how to approach problems and understand jokes.8
-
I really like React and I thought for a second that Vue will overcome React with stars but fortunately developers know what is better 😂😂😂😍21
-
"we use cookies to give you a better experience on our site"
A better experience? Really?
It looks like you're using more than 100 external parties for whatever fucking reason. It is nearly impossible to disallow these, except for some stuff like analytics, which I don't like since it includes mass surveillance parties like Google and Facebook, but I'd at least, to some extent, understand that better.
But, the amount of dark pattern here is staggering and this kind of 'consent' you're using wouldn't, in a million years, hold up under the GDPR.
You know what would be a better experience? No tracking and no ads.
Go fuck your better experience (would that be a better sex experience....?)4 -
Never assume you know better
Never assume others know better
Never assume others know
Never assume
Trust, but verify [doveriaj, no proveriaj]5 -
I'm planning on making a start-up. The brand name will be 'Void'. And motto:l is 'Because Nothing is Better Than Something'. I'm not kidding.
Just want to know if that's a good idea 😂😂10 -
I don't know about you, but our fellow Indian colleagues doing YouTube videos explaining programming concepts and whatnot have got me through college and many of my projects.
Cheers for the Indian superheroes in our line of work! Keep doing what you're doing, you are making the world a better place.5 -
Dear recruiter.. When calling me, better know what fucking city I live in before wasting my time..2
-
"Yeah I code, I've created like tons of games and I bet I'm better than pretty much anyone out there"
Oh really? What languages do you know?
"Scratch"
*anger rising*4 -
Can people just fucking stop using "hacked" as a synonym for "my password has been found out"? Even devs do this shit! Devs should know better about what a "hacked" account is.14
-
This is supposed to be a huge European conference on logistics at hyperlog.info If these noobs will be inviting big companies, they better know how to make a map, that's not Hungary there and Europe has only one Slovakia8
-
When you advise coworkers to do something one way because you know better but they do it their way anyway so this is you when shit hits the fan.
-
Sitting in an "Advanced Python" course (paid by my employer), I kicked something under my desk. I hope those guys know Python better than they know electrical security measures...6
-
I fucking hate group projects.
These fucking dumbasses that don't know how to write shit. "This is a software that connects to THE phone" in a fucking business letter.
I bet a fucking second grader can write better than this piece of shit.3 -
dad to uncle: you know, my son is a programmer
uncle to me: what do you do son, as a programmer
me: catch bugs
uncle( thinking ): 🐞🐞🐝🐝
uncle: I hope you find a better job in the future!!1 -
Just made the shift to a Linux development environment from a windows one... Gotta say it feels so much better (love Ubuntu's interface)
Miss the use of photoshop though (I Know gimp exists... But photoshop is just so much better)
Any tips for a linux/ubuntu newbie??36 -
Co-worker: dude, I need your help!

Me: promise not to scream, k?
Co-worker: I just hope it's none of your old-stylish jokes.
Me: oh dude, you know me for years, trust me, it's fine.
Co-worker: -_-5 -
Fucking idiot lead dev who’s 10 years younger then me doesnt know fucking respect. Dumbass comes with every new framework there is:
- ow we should try abc.js
One week later
- now we should totally get in def.js. It’s soooo much better then abc.js!
Screwing up projects, asking for an extra pair of eyes and then asking wtf is this code.
Im out of here if we’re hiring toddlers for lead developers because they are willing to work 50 hours a week. I better get that raise soon.3 -
I seriously don't know why some people still using Google Drive, DropBox. Pied Piper is much better
www.piedpiper.com7 -
You know what is an even better feeling than finishing a 60 pages long document on which my schooling rests?
Realizing you finished it 3 weeks before the deadline 😍😍14 -
Anybody else know that horrible feeling when you're 2 weeks and 1000 lines of spaghetti into what started as a 2 day 200 line side project that was supposed to make your main project better, but has now become it's own life consuming beast?2
-
Boasting you know programming just because you watched some programming videos doesn't help in any of the case, I learned this the hard way because I tried to show off in front a girl and turned out, she knew more and better. This was when I was 14, very bad memory14
-
I dont know why. Maybe the appearance and performance.
Still i think i am better than most of them.
I am sure that i have a place in this industry.
Dang It6 -
I'm starting to realize, that if you just know the basics of researching, you can (most of the time) find better free resources, than paid ones, for learning about new things in this field.5
-
Why the fuck does YouTube shows me ads about wix and other Website creation Tools? Google you know better then anyone what Job i have and even know that i have a Google play developer account connected with my google account.5

Porting Java Code to Kotlin manually, just to get a better understanding of the language. Best thing so far, NO more Assertive Exception Handling.
Damnit Java, I know it for a fact that the damned thing won't throw an exception! There's Careful and Paranoid. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE5 -
My security knowledge is so bad. But I don't know where should I start.😖
My coworkers know about this, so I don't get involved on related topics.🤤
Last time I asked same question, someone gave me link, and it all about DIY welding metal tubes into a security door.🤦♂️
Any better suggestion?13 -
We are currently building a CRM for a company, and we have to demo it for some of the users, two guys start asking couple of questions.
Them: what it is built with?.
Me:PHP, do you know it?
Them: No we only know WordPress.
Me: well WordPress is built with PHP.
them: Ah that's probably why we thought it looked like WordPress.
Me: yeaaah probably... sure :)2 -
I know we might think we need drugs to accomplish something. Like coffee to get work done or alcohol to socialize better. But honestly, you are better when you are sober - because you are perfect just the way you are :)9
-
Looking at git blame, I think I broke a feature 8 months ago. Not obviously broken, just one of the data fields is empty in one of our calculations.
I don't know if it's better or worse that nobody noticed...11 -
sudo apt-get update year
Appy new year guys.
I know I've been away but I will be back when I get better.5 -
Co-worker: Why are you deleting this piece of code?
Me: It's deprecated and it can be made in a better way. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing
Also me: OH SHIT THE ENTIRE PROJECT IT'S RUINED4 -
Lesson I learnt the hard way today: ticket every fucking task (including admin) to:
A. Cover your arse (if the tickets are not ready because they haven't given us enough information, push back on it before committing too much effort to doing it)
B. Better deliverable (what you output will probably be better quality because you worked out the requirements upfront + you know the audience)
C. You have something to show management when they want to try and overwork you some more4 -
Wtf is up with these fucking web devs, like I ask a simple fucking question, and its like I'm being interrogated for my inability to know everything at any given time...
Like I get it kyle, the only thing you hide better than your virginity is your code...
Fuck these bitter devs21 -
so my project manager just asked me if she can help with anything, did she ask to make herself feel better after overloading me? Or was it trying to rush me politely?
im a fucking developer, you don't even know basic html, whats the fucking point of the question...10 -
Microsoft's business suite is much better than Google's business suite.
If not for Google's monopoly in consumer market, MS would have easily taken over the consumer space as well. No wonder this company is acing their game in B2B space.
I can see myself migrating to MS ecosystem because fuck YouTube and Google Maps. MS has everything better now.
You know what MS did right?
They heard herd.
And this is what annoys me about Google. A company arrogant and adamant in their own approach that they even refuse to acknowledge a user's existence.6 -
Sometimes I feel like, even thought being a Software Engineer, I know web development better than 70%-80% so called professional "Web Developer"15
-
Best Linux distro for a grandpa?
I've just installed Linux Mint KDE and while it feels a little stiff, I don't know any linux that's better.14 -
I love materializecss.com .. I love the concept and I don't know why, but I like it ways better than bootstrap. Materialize looks kinda fresh to me - not the classic Material Design. Aaaaaand it's very easy to work with it.5
-
Summer is about to start.
I want to learn more over the break. I think I found the best way for me to learn. Apps. I use sololearn and Enki.
I know I'm cheap, but I dont have the money to spare on udemy.
Has anyone found any better apps though?21 -
Found out one of the guys in one of my online groups died today. I don’t know if we ever shared a conversation outside of a group setting, but he was always kind and friendly. Always had a positive word, laughed easily, made others laugh. Regret not knowing him better. Miss him already.
Realizing I’ve been doing a poor job of connecting and maintaining connections since the pandemic started. Going to try to be better.
Life’s too short, guys.8 -
What is this hate towards fullstack developers ? I suppose more you know the better ? I think you can specialize later, based on your work task.
Fullstack is the way for learning addicts as me.11 -
Lead messed up the Git workflow (New repo), ask me to fix it. And when I said that we better do it from first properly, asked me if I even know git 🙄 Feel insulted.3
-
And today in Laravel-land, how to take fluent APIs to the utmost consequences.
Better...? Seriously? All your lines got longer and you know have closures to run.10 -
I was looking at some poorly written code today in a project and I was curious to see who wrote it. I blamed it and found I had wrote it 6 months ago! smh Well... at least I know I'm getting better! I ended up refactoring it to use better code patterns.2
-
"Just use JCreator. It's better and easier to use than Eclipse or IntelliJ."
For those that don't know, jcreator is a Java ide that sucks ass. It doesn't even have a dark theme!3 -
That guy who thinks he know exactly what I'm doing better than me... Oh, you meant a different type of tool.
-
!rant
I was added to a private Trello board today, of a company that I’m not a part of.
I don’t know if I should mess around with their boards and move stuff around, just leave the board, or better yet, relieve devs of their assigned tasks.
😆4 -
My first programming experience was in highschool. Within two months I was a better programmer than my teacher.
This just indicates that the people who hire programming teachers need to know what programming is before hiring the wrong person.3 -
Kotlin makes the development experience so much better. Humans are creatures of habit. Some don't want to change what they already know. RIP to those who still start their project in Java and do not want to adapt in this competitive world. :/8
-
Do you think Project Managers should know what source control is and have a basic understanding of its concepts?
Do you think this will help them do a better job?7 -
"We totally know everything about SEO, you should trust us and pay us so your website is #01 because we know how Google ranks their shit" (not literally)
No fuck you. No one knows how google ranks pages. No one. And your pseudo information is even free to find on the first google result about seo that is above yours. Oh look, they must be better than you with that.3 -
I know its supposed to be the same since it is built on Electron. But vs code looks waaay better on a Mac than it does on windows. I think its funny.7

As a Backend guy doing CSS. (Honestly don't know what i'm doing)

wait? what?3 -
Fucking kill me. I've just agreed to make a shitty fucking app that would be better as a Webpage, using shitty fucking technologies I don't understand, to do a thing that would be better handled by a third party.
You know why? The guy who asked me to do it is a good friend, and I'm the "best (only) code monkey" he knows. FUCK MY LIFE.
At least I'm getting payed7 -
Me and loneliness have been best friends recently, but I’m not going to let it interfere with my goals in life. I’m going to choose to fight for a better life. Choose to fight for yourself and just know that someone loves you somewhere :)2
-
Best part about being a dev...
Satisfaction that people are using you inventions/products to better their lives.
I know it sounds cliché, but software dev is a lot like art.
Guessing, Da Vinci must have felt the same way in the Renaissance.2 -
Me: *asks boss for the id of his test store so I can apply experimental schema changes to test out a new dashboard app*
Boss: *gives me production store id and doesn't say anything*
Fate: … "You got lucky this time."
This is the CEO of the company btw. Startups. *sigh*1 -
Drinking alcohol is soo good for my social life because my autopilot is far better with people.
Somehow people can actually really get to know and like me then.
Will this ever change for normal me (22 yo) or should I just keep going out?12 -

The power to make windows open source. O;)....cuz we all know that the community would do a better job at making sure it's secure xD7

Don't know why Google named it Pie... Just doesn't feel right TBH... Peppermint would have been better. Pie feels like an OS every fat kid would have on their phone.9
-
I think the ship has sailed on starting learning JavaScript. There are just so many frameworks/tools/preprocessors/libraries. I wouldn't know where to start and it'll be years before I'll be better than mediocre.7
-
I'm curious to know how lucrative it is for the people operating those 0-points accounts to post spam comments on this kind of a platform. I don't know the exact numbers of course but I have to think looking for change in your couch cushions is a better return on investment.6
-
Just got yelled at by by a senior dev. I know I am not the best developer but...I am depressed now. I wanna be better and prove myself. I admit I am distracted way to easily but I need help bad. Idk how to earn back the respect of my coWorkers.9

when your math teacher says she have took c++ courses but you already making app and you know better than your teacher 😎3

Hey everyone, I am trying to learn how to become better a Java but I don't really know where to begin. I already know some of the basics and have made a few minor projects but I really want to advance. I was hoping someone could provide me with some ideas for simple yet complicated projects so that I can further my knowledge of the Java programming language.4
-
I'm loving the bootcamp I'm in so far. I know I won't be a whiz kid once I'm done, but it gives me a great start for my career change! You'll only be as successful as the work you put into coding. Practice makes better as time goes on!2
-
I can't believe it, people are still using dreamweaver, and they doing so because they actually don't know that there are better options. How are you a web dev and using dreamweaver out of ignorance...4
-
Had a better day with i3wm and Linux. Did a lot of futzing with config files and got it looking pretty cool. My status bar is relevant, urxvt is transparent, I'm happy with it.
I would have taken a screenshot to share with you all but uhh... I don't know how yet. :/6 -
Imagine being a senior dev with a green junior that says: "Well maybe there is a better way and I just don't know"
and you say:
"There is, I'm telling you"
only to continue on discussing it more.5 -
Docker's encapsulation is amazing! I don't have to know anything about networking to get a swarm running with some demo services all talking to each other and central logging and... oh I fucked something up... better read about networking so I know what I broke1
-
Yes, come tell me there's a user experiencing an issue, but you don't know on which page or exactly what it was. I'll fix that right away.2

Of course I'll get invited to a friend's party where I know no one. Should have known better...

I'm currently trying to get better at python and to learn django. And here I am, following a c++ course I found on safari books.
Really, sometimes I don't know why I do certain things...2 -
Don't rebase and force-push a shared feature branch that's still in active development. FFS. A "senior" developer should know better.1

Days since last issue from 3rd party library: 0
It doesn't get any better than this folks!
It just makes me even more joyful to know that said companies library earns them 1000x figures of what my company earns! Yay software! -
Yeah, please fucking tell the other knob I accidentally starred, ++d, liked, .. his X, that's a great function, better yet, why not make it fully archived, so even if you remove it a second later he's going to know you're the asshole that did it3

Rant
Arg! Stack overflow why are you so full of argumentative dumb wits. I post serious question for a serious answer and what do I get? People who apparently know my situation better than me and have decided what I want to be done shouldn't be done. They don't even know what I am making. Either answer the question or move on!!!5 -
Random Tip (since ppl don't seem to know)
Dark Reader chrome extension
turns everything to dark theme
works on devrant too, although their native dt is better
not sure about firefox2 -
Can gaming get better on Linux please? I know there are steps towards this but when I can move everything over to arch/Ubuntu etc would be awesome, including VR stuff.13
-
I dont. I am a struggling junior whos back at mobile dev after 2 years of a break while working on that 2 for 2 years prior. I dont know. I get addicted to problem solving and also some unresolved childhood traumas are driving me to tryhard and sacrifice personal life in order to perform better in my job. I am afraid of failure so I will sacrifice everything whaf I can to be better.3

You know you're a true server admin when you have two keyboards and you use the better one with the server instead of your desktop computer.

Project Manager: "C++ has become much better for embedded now so we're gonna use it in the new project."
Me: "I didn't C that coming."
I know it's silly but I'm proud of it 🤓 -
Hello devRant!
Man its been a while, i havent logged in here in like 4 years.
Recently ive been getting into home-labbing, and i thought to myself
"all of these people on youtube/reddit run Plex on pre-built NASs that have awful celerons and whatnot, we can do much better!"
And by "much better" i meant a bare metal k8s cluster.
My hybris knows no bounds apparently.
Turns out this shit is quite hard.
Really gives u an appreciation of just how much stuff cloud providers magically abstract away....
My final goal is to run stableDiffusion on this thing, even know i know full-well the moment i try Nvidia will fuck me raw with some hidden enterprise subscrition :) -
I'm getting started on web development again. But I want to get the right tools for the job. I don't hate Dreamweaver. But I know there's got to be something better out there for me to use.15
-
upgrade to the latest pre-release of Xamarin forms for a shiny new feature, now nothing works even after reverting. You'd think I should know better by now.2
-
I have lately seen a lot of people mentioning that functional programming is better than object oriented programming.
So far I have only experience in oop and I would really like to know some reasons why it is better.9 -
my wife is setting up her new phone that arrived today. maybe i am a bit jealous. on the other hand i dont know how using devrant, reddit and duckduckgo justifies a new phone. better save this for my dream computer.6

Sometines after a long day of having clients continually find edge cases that break the code makes me want to be like.
"Hey! Having the app work well was never part of the scope for the project, just that it would work ish."
But I know better. -
https://devrant.com/rants/5155862/...
Alright! I take it back. I don’t like “this”. Hooks are better. But are they the best? We will see.
Namaste.3 -
There is a big difference between IT and CS, the first has a lot of monkeys because most of the hiring managers don't ask technical interview questions that screen out monkeys... Probably because.... **Hmmmm thinking of a nice way to say it** They don't know any better...
-
You know when you are suddenly push to a new position that you are not familiar with?
Well I just became a server database/cloud expert. Fuck me.
Been Googling for a while now. If anyone has any advice, I'll appreciate it.
Anything free and open source, even better.6 -
You! Yes you.
I'm sure you know a lot of things I don't, even tho I have a pretty decent education and job.
Universal justice wouldn't be that I get fired and you get my job. You getting a (better) job would be universal justice.
So I wish you best of luck.1 -
Nothing feels better than seeing yourself doing better as a self taught web developer compare to some jsackass with a CS degree who talks about what he learnt in school couple years ago. Who cares? You can't do shit at work and I don't even know why you work here if you have no desire to learn new things. If he graduated in late 90s he would still be coding in PHP 3.0.2
-
So it's 5 am and a random Snapchat adds me. Of course I know it's a bot. I tend to answer these because i'm curious of how clever the ai has become in these scams. Still hasn't improved in like 5 years. Here I am telling this ai how shitty it is at it's job and telling it how it could be better by using deep learning to copy the way others talk and actually be convincing and then I think to myself, "well damn, why don't I just build a better ai." Seriously thinking about it. Ended up leaving the chat after telling the ai to inform it's lizard overlords I am for hire if they want a better trap.
-
Why do so many instructors/tutorials/books leave the comma out of “Hello, world?” It bugs the shit out of me. I know they know better...10

Today was a real Monday (I know it's Wednesday, let me explain).
Nothing worked. Not for me and not for my coworker. Across all tasks that we did today. It was very frustrating and a lot of swearing was involved.
Every week has to have a Monday I guess. Let's hope tomorrow gets better.1 -
Thank you for the 20-20-20(6) rule.
I think I read about it here, I don't know if it helps but I do feel better.
I recommend it.13 -
Much better... sorta....
In your face Amazon!!!
Now I can easily know when new movies are added... though apparently Amazon considers live stand-up comic shows as Movies...2 -
Some Devs need to be better about sharing info. Like, I don't want to play 20Qs just to learn how to configure a system I never used. You have job security, don't worry! Other people are allowed to know what ya know; you don't need to impress anyone!1
-
I know better to open a solution in Visual Studio on a network share over a VPN on crappy WiFi.
But I do it anyway for some reason. -
My uncle wants a website for his company. Should I do it in Wordpress, or do you know any other, better CMS? Node.js would be awesome :)15
-
So a lot of people tell me Linux is way better than Windows. And I know it's all personal preference but I was thinking about switching to linux. What's everybodies opinion?15
-
I'm new here and I don't know if this is a thing -
But I wanted to know if anyone would be interested in coding with me (+_+)
I didn't know of a better approach...13 -
We interviewed some candidates for a dev position some weeks ago and, knowing the environment isn't that challenging (at least for me) I voted against the better curriculums because I know they would be frustrated fast, I said that. But I didn't say it was because it's shit here... Of course.... I really just want the good devs to be better then they can be here.... What do you think?3

You know what's better than a Bucket Object that wraps an arraylist?
A BucketBucket Object which wraps an array of buckets which each wraps an ArrayList.

I don't know if I can be developer anymore. After I went to high school (one of the best in Poland) everything seems to collapse. My grades are poor. Especially on math and physics, but surprisingly everything Computer Science related is better than average. I also know how to code and I don't struggle with math used while programming. Heck, I even made my first game at the age of 10 in Visual Basic. I just love programming, computer science, etc, but after I went to high school I just don't know anymore...5

that time when you pass a cv of your friend who is as qualified as you were good 2 yrs ago to your boss and next thing you know he is being offered a much better position than you have3

I'm making a devRant API wrapper for Dart. The point? None! Just to get better at the language and mostly make my own life easier. Open source or not, seems like I'll be the only one to use it. Or am I? Is anyone else (I know ewpratten is) using Dartlang?3
-
Do your better halves know you're doing php? I know I would be too ashamed to tell mine if I did...13

It`s better to have an error than to have your app run but not working as wanted. Like in games, you know you`re on the right path if enemies show up, like the errors here.

I still wonder which one is better to fully learn/understand. I know to code something in both, I know about the different way of how they handle memory and I know about some of their use-cases, but then again... this stupid question still pops out:
C or C++ and why?2 -
I've seen far worse people doing what I'm doing, applying terrible practices and still being valued af.
Even if I do smth wrong after doing all the research and alternatives' analysis I know I'll do a proper post-mortem RCA, document it and learn from it, as a result I'll make a better choice to fix the problem and I'll know better next time.
I think I'm alright compared to them. So I don't wory about being an impostor.
Learning by good examples is a good approach. Learning by bad ones might be even better. The "good ones" are yet to fail and be replaced by better (or worse) ones. The "bad ones" are already failing and you can learn WHY you should not be doing it like that and HOW should you do instead to solve the problem.
Learning from good examples only works well if you know the back-story, all the WHYs and HOWs. People usually don't :) -

I love emacs dired mode.
Nothing better than the full power of a decent text editor to edit directory content.
I know quite some multi-file-naming tools, but they are all crap compared to dired.
That's all. Have a nice weekend, everyone!1 -
How to handle the "I know better than you but haven't written a line of code in years" - SW-architect?4
-
I don't know what to choose...
A no-brainer job in data input with security, stability and a chance of promotion or transfer to another area IT related far away in the future...
Or
An intership of one year, in systems analysis, with a 30% better salary but no guarantees after that...4 -
Someone wrote some error handling middleware for the whole application.
Then someone wrote some default classes for HTTP errors; BadRequest, Unauthorized and so on.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think throwing one of these default errors would give the proper status code, instead of default everything to 500.
But alas, I do know better.1 -
Got an openai invite.
Funny thing it has been so long since I requested it, I no longer remember what I was gonna build.
I know some people who are better qualified and wanted access haven't been able to get access yet.
So, any suggestions?6 -
When a safety check you added to a cron script triggers early in the morning and you know you might be walking into a shitstorm.
Still better than not having that check and replicating an incomplete database to production. -
When you're working on a project by yourself and you make certain choices and someone comes along thinking they know your project better than you do and starts acting like they're smart while saying stupid shit that doesn't even make sense.

I don’t really regret anything because I’m extremely happy with my current situation, but maybe I should’ve gone for a CS degree to make my life a bit easier. But who knows if it would’ve made things better or worse, I’ll never know.

Even while quite experienced, I do keep messing names up:
start_server
stop_server
And
server_start
server_stop
I do know that last example is better with autocomplete but my head thinks the other way. I find myself frequently renaming functions in the end.
What is your preference?27 -
Not a rant!
But I want to know how much do programmer make? (Money wise) and would it be better to be a freelancer or to work for a company? What are some pros and cons for working in a company and for being a freelancer.5 -
2 years ago I thought you had to make an if statement for every coordinate in a game to make the character move1

Why many students use bluej while eclipse is far better?
I want to be a programmer so, in future probably I will join any college or something.
So, I want to know what is special in bluej That eclipse can't fulfill?5 -
The awesome feeling when you realize that you know better the websites you're working on for 6 months than the developers who have been around for more than a year

So the guy who sits next to me in my class uses white theme for his IDE.
Me: So, you use white theme.
Him: Yea, I like it. So much better than darker ones. Don't know why people like it. Does it bothers you too?
Me: Pfft, no!
Me inside:7 -
Which editor among atom or vscode is best?
I'm bit confused about this.
I mainly prefer Atom, but want to know what vscode can do a more better?11 -
I accept offer letter from x company.
And just before 3 day of joining i got far better offer from company y.
So i told company x that i got better offer I don't want to join there anymore.
They told me that after accepting i should not find new job, my word has no value, and told me "keep that attitude (sarcastically).
I know i did wrong. How do you guys handle that?
Is it wrong to accept other offer after accepting one?7 -
Doing another FE assignment these days. In this one they have some clear requirements and some not so clear ones ex. "make the existing code better". And it's for a team lead position so I have to pretend I know what I'm doing instead of just implementing the feature they want.2

Anyone know a good open source web page builder? If there's a laravel integration would be better.
Got a client needs this very soon!
Sort of just assumed someone did it, but yeah, like there's lots, I see wink, grapejs, etc. But there's gotta be one perfect for my needs.
Thanks!8 -
I'm still wondering how this app exists.... Where does the money come from? So.....curious. Maybe it's better I don't know. Love devRant :)
-
Most of the stuff I know comes from debugging other people's code. When working on someone else's project, I try to understand what their code is doing and think how I could make it better and if it's possible to extend the functionality to make it do other things as well.

A fellow PHP dev I know implies procedural php is better in any way shape or form than OOP as it increases readability...3

The better question is which one didnt I get through code?
My best and first real friend was doing an internship in the same company as I. Via her I know all my current friends. -
So basically.... you should make the implementation of this wireframe .... which may change in the nearest future but we don't know it yet, so better you start it anyway because it may even be the final one.
....
F***2 -
You might think that I'd know better and stop caring about the design while prototyping, but I still can't help it work 4 times as long on the layout than the actual logic3
-
Right now everything is a CMS. And I hate it. It lets people who don't know what they're doing, think they know what they're doing and make a mess for the real developers.
All I can hope for us some huge educational effort so that if you want to use WordPress you can, but know that there are much better options.
Every change has to be approved ahead of time anyway and its literally my job to keep this website running. I don't need you poking around breaking stuff.3 -
I question EVERYTHING. I question why things are done a certain way, I ask questions on things I know, and don't know. Learning and increasing the depth of knowledge is the best way to become a better developer.
-
I hate people who own crypto and think they're some futurist tech elite. You don't know how the price will fluctuate in the future so stop thinking you're some goddamn fucking wizard. Just because you know the very basics of how a blockchain works or simple economics, doesn't mean you're better than those who don't own crypto.1

Guys I need some advice. I have read some articles about sass and less. I now know sass is using Ruby and Less is using JS. Can somebody tells me the big differences of both and which is the better one to learn? (in your opinion) Thanks8 -
I wanted some ideas on how to word an error message better, so I googled "error message best practices".
80% of the results were about form validation and not actual code breaking errors >:(
On the up-side, I now know that I must not say "No, Bad User!"3 -
Worst documentation I have ever dealt with is my own. I have gone back to programs, looked at it, and went, what the heck is even this. I've broken business critical programs just because I didn't know the extent of what I was changing. I've gotten better, because of events like that. OMG!!!!
-
If only more devs would use short, yet concise, modern constructs instead of archaic ones.
For example in C#: using lambdas, extension methods, LinQ,.. much easier to read through if you know how these work, rather than having to spend all day scanning tedious for-loops and over-engineered classes your colleagues wrote who don't know any better.
Examples:
vs.foreach(v => console.write(v));
initialList = secondList.Where(p => initialList.Contains(p, valueComparer))
.Concat(initialList.Where(p => !secondList.Contains(p, valueComparer))).ToList(); -
Screw wasting time reading blogs and all the bloggers' cliché content like "10 tips to become a better developer" or "10 ways to boost productivity"
I already know I should take care of my body so STFU. Go back to actually building something and stop broadcasting your noobness like a talentless "Instagram Influencer"!!1 -
Got an offer letter today and have to decide by tomorrow. I don't what to do about it. The offer/company is good but not awesome. Should I wait for something better or should I accept this. I don't know, I am really confused.14

Dear MyISAM,
please die a painful and horrible death already, you living corpse of the times long gone. You're taking way too long.
Thank you,

For everybody who's had to start job hunting for their first real programming job, I have a few questions.
Is starting to apply for jobs 4-5 months ahead a good idea or is it better to wait it out with a 2-3 month time frame? I'm graduating in June 2019.
Is it better to apply for jobs with a search field of "junior developer" or to be more specific like "Jr Java web dev/Jr node.js"?
I know a lot of job descriptions are just company wishlists and not real indicators of skill. I have enough job experience to know how that part of the world works.
My aim is to try for Chicago(go Cubs) or New England, maybe Boston or NYC. I'd say I have a better shot with Chicago being just a 4 hour drive from home base. But, you never know. This is my first real shot at a job in this field so I'm trying to keep my expectations in check.
Hopefully I can get something to work before rumblings of the 2020 election start in my home state. 🙄2 -
Should I learn Angular 2 or Vue 2?
Not asking which one is better, but which one suits my need better:
I want to move from PHP to nodejs frameworks; I know Vue cause it's famous in the Laravel community, but don't know about the node/js community. I heard Angular 2 is hard, but I'm changing my dev stack so might as invest some time in it. So which one should I pick?
Also, what's a good nodejs framework for starters (who aim to build production-ready apps) (also, not planning on doing mobile apps so no need for cross platform js frameworks).
Thanks in advance12 -
F the people who think more rules and regulations are answers to the current problems. You know why your businesses are shutting down, taking jobs with them and moving elsewhere?
Because too many complicated tax laws. Why put effort when countries like Singapore, Estonia are doing a much better job.36 -
Usually when listening to music I have on my main Spotify playlist (using headphones), after a good 7-8h sleep followed by a good breakfast.
It's usually better when:
- there's no one around to interrupt me,
- I know what I'm going to do and
- no distracting noise. -
Does anyone know of any patches to make the android UI more responsive. Like the iPhone just better? I really think that would be the patch to ruin apple for good!10

Why devRant is not open source?
I know that it has a Github issue tracker with a awful amount issues.
Wouldn't it be better if people could work on the platform to improve it since most of the devRant users are developers.
(Just a random thought i had)11 -
Thanks for letting me know my $documentName is blurry apple, but i think I'd be a better engineer than the one you hired to send me this email5

Creating my first mobile application in Xamarin Forms. Still figuring out how that framework works, but I'm excited!
Application is for my internship. Helping students study better with metacognitive strategies.
I don't even know what it is, so this is going to be fun. -
I understand devs find it hard to say "I dont know" because our job is about not knowing then knowing through our own accord, but damn, when you dont know. Let that be known, you may be directed or helped. Both you and the task requester will have a good time. And better expectations set.
Say it with me... "I dont know, but-will-look-into-it"
You might hear something nice like "here are some pointers"3 -
I used to do a job where I helped older people with their computer issues and of my customers once used an actual magnifier to view websites their smaller letters. Both logical but also hilarious, the customer probably didnt know any better!2

So far I've struggled with applying for software internships. Have been trying since last semester but most of them have either rejected me or ignored my application.
Oh well better to keep working on my own projects until I land something I guess! The most important part about being rejected is that you know you can get better!3 -
You know, one thing that really puzzels me is that people are willing to use WinRar despite there being plenty of better alternatives (*cough*7-Zip*cough*) that doesn't slap an activation notice in your face every fucking time.4

Hello all, I know we can search in git lab for the labels(easy, first commit etc) to find open source projects that suit me, but as a rookie it gets a bit frustrating not understanding the project and so on. Does anyone know a better way to contribute to open source and learning at the same time?2

Is it a good idea to develop non game app in Unity? Asking because I got an idea for a app and I know Unity very well. Way better than Xamarin for instance.3

Maaan, why does Latex have to suck /this/ much. I know it's very powerful and you can do complex layout and typography but COME ON. Surely there has to be a better way6

Argument in the office today when the designers went rogue, ignoring the PM's agreed plan with the client and started mock-ups for what they thought would look better. Boiled down to "No. Just stop that and do what I asked, you're wasting your time." vs "No, we're doing this. I'm a designer, I know this will look better."
Anyone else had issues with designers trying to take charge?3 -
I'm currently working front end at my company, and am applying for a backend internship within the same company.
Would it be in appropriate for me to comment a block of code with
# I know there has to be a better way to do this but I haven't found it yet
In my code challenge for the application?
Basically I found a clumsy and ugly solution but I want them to know *i know* it's clumsy and ugly and if I had more time I would come up with something better6 -
Any of you guys (especially German people) know of this online bank N26? It looks pretty cool and I was thinking of getting another bank account for a better money management plan. Anyone's used it before/knows it's safe/good?8

Working with a manager who thinks they know how development works but doesn't actually know is the worst. At times your better off fixing the issue versus explaining it to them. Fix it then explain it.2

Does anyone here work with automated acceptance tests? I don't know a lot about them and I've been wondering if it's too time consuming to write them and if it's better to test manually2

Should I learn JS or Python?
Python is the better choice for ai as far as I know and I'm interested in learning Django. On the other hand Node.js is great for backend and servers.4 -
I'm halfway through reviewing the code for that one dev on the team who should know better but still ignores every standard we set. It's going to be a rough code review... for him

This is not a rant!

PM: We need to add "Under Contract" banners dynamically to listings on xyz.com
Me: No problem
[ ... a few minutes later ... ]
Me: xyz.com has been updated. Check out the listings and let me know if anything is out of place.
PM: The updates you made look great! How does this scale (in the most basic sense of the word; i.e. in the viewport) on abc.com.
Me: ? òįÓ ? ... that's a completely different site ... why would it affect it if you didn't ask for it. -
Developers always know better what's best for others and when you do take their advice 2 weeks later and they're no longer using whatever they raved about 2 weeks earlier, because... something new and even better... and man you have to try this or otherwise you are a lame fool and that's definitely going to stay forever or maybe 3 weeks finally...
And if you ignore these fools because what works for them is not working for you, they in their ignorance keep pushing... at least until the 2 weeks are over... -
So I had an interesting problem... Let's say I have X lights which will turn on or off after I pull a lever. I know the probability of each one of them turning on, but they are all different. I want to know what is the probability of at least half of them being on after I pull the lever.
I wrote this shit show to do it: https://jsbin.com/jizocohebo/edit/...
Can you do better?4 -
So I have noticed if I think I know much of logic in programming and I can solve this problem better way I actually code better.
And when I think no I'm just a noob programmer I ask stupid question to myself and get my self confidence blown.
Thing is don't think you are bad, think of just you'll put all the experience all the knowledge you got in this program (according to its requirement) -
I don't really understand all that love rust gets. It's syntax, better than C++'s, isn't better than C syntax.
You can make memory safe programs with C, just if you know how to manage memory, and you should only if you know how to. Bigger ecosystem for C/C++.
C23 waay better than any rs standard.
PS: I used both C/C++ and Rust39 -
A: Do you know Big O?
B: Yea I know Big O. Who doesn't know Big O?
A: So what's the Big O of X?
B: It's ....
A: Oh what about Y?
B: Oh that has a bigger Big O.
A: Hm... how about this one?
B: That's a really big Big O. Why not use mine?
A: Ooh that looks impressive, very small. So which Big O should we use?
B: Well there's a constant trade off, even though small is good, in this case I think the bigger one works better.4 -
So many choices for backend I'm fucking confused. Yesterday, I tried Django and i found it little similar to RoR(in generating things, db migration things).
I'm currently working in NodeJS.
I even don't know should I rant or cry.
And of course frontend is another thing same like this.....
And I'm not much experienced to differentiate them and know which is better and where it will fit.
Can anyone tell me in simple way which framework fits where?1 -
Aye i know we got a few musicians here, what daw do you recommend for a beginner? Im tryna use lmms right now and its not bad but there might be better ones. Main direction would be dubstep. Windows is fine and id keep it free or under $50 if possible.3

HFS, MacBooks standard file system is the answer to that every question asking "what if you don't design well/ how bad can it get."
How can a bloody file system not be case sensitive.
I know you want to be different from *nix
But there would have been better ways1 -
did you guys know this existed? https://www.lexaloffle.com/ just stumbled upon it and now want to build my first games or better hardware that runs this stuff! :D3
-
implementing ticket from epic somebody else did breakdown on
someone from other team mentions that we should be getting approval from their team and preferably avoid doing stuff in this legacy repo
im just a code monkey, i didn't make the decision (or know the nuances around it), nor did i want to be in that old legacy repo
pain
i didnt know, i dont know what i dont know,
how do i do better next time...3 -
You get my best work with snarky, asshole broseph, or you get whatever I can shit out with medicated, socially-acceptable broseph. I could probably give them a better choice, but I have no interest in trying. My absence is their loss. I'm no Steve Jobs. I'm mediocre as fuck, but I'm willing to learn new things and I dive into that shit as hardcore as I can... I don't fucking know anymore.. 😔 It'll probably be better when I sober up I guess

I want to build a blog. Which language do you recommend me to use? Which is better and why?
I know MEAN, Rails, PHP... But I just can't decide which one to use. I don't wanna use any wordpress-like app (joomla or any other thing).
Thanks! :D10 -
i want to make an object from data from multiple related tables in my database,
do you know a better way?7 -
How do I know if there's a module for the problem I'm trying to solve? How do I know if there's a better module that solves the problem in a better way than the module I'm using? After I found the module, how can I use it if npmjs website contains just a skinny example and no explanation? Should I attend an advanced course for each module in repository?

You know what I dont like? Platform specific propriety softwares...
Oh well, there is always a better open source alternative1 -
I want to be a better coder and what better way to improve, than look at how the best does it right? 😁
So do any of you guys know a JavaScript/TypeScript project that is commonly known to be a masterpiece in the art of coding?5 -
To know what people are thinking to better understand them, their reasoning and motives.
Quite a lot of the time facades are put in place and while i already see through them, would like to know what is really going on. -
Does anyone know how Go, the programming language is working?
People likes it, is it useful, is it good or there are better alternatives?
Would like to know the opinions of those who know about it :]7 -
Okay so I've been programming for around a few months learning python. I'm a slow learner so I try to stick with a learning schedule that suits me and i do got it, but I've come across a problem that keeps happening.
When will I know when to use certain functions like len(), range(), Or even modulas %. Because I forget they're there and im worried its going to effect me from being better.
Another problem while I have some of your attention is i dont know when to use math in my code really well but I've been getting better at that so I'm gonna practice a little bit for that.3 -
I hate "giving away" my tickets. It's easier when it's involving something I just don't have access to, but really, really hard to escalate a ticket that I feel like I should know better how to work.
-
I know how many people hate systemd. I started reading about it a week ago and I am enjoying it. Seems a much better alternative to previous things.
Is there something bad I should know about...2 -
Hello folks, i wanted to know.
Which series do u like better, dragonball, or transformers, and why.16 -
@dfox & @trogus
Since there are less people around can we lower the requirements for the free stress ball back to 100++?
I know I can just buy one but earning one is so much better 😁4 -
I started when I was 8 because I wanted to make a game, and I also knew it was something I wanted as job later.
I don't know any better than that I am a developer.3 -
I once used Wordpress for my portfolio. I now feel dirty. I know there are some who wouldn't admit that they use wp sometimes and that's understandable. I think making my own cms would be better. Has anyone of you here done that? What back-end tool did you use?5

When your rant ++'s are stuck at 29 and you can't get a swag , yall better know that
"they see me rolling, they hatin'"3 -
Does anyone know a good GUI-based file search program similar to "search everything" on windows? That program is fucking awesome! Web search has given me ANGRYSearch, which comes close but has some usability problems. Is there yet a better program I haven't discovered yet?3
-
Which CROSS PLATFORM Desktop App Development tool/framework do you use?
I've been using ElectronJS but I'm tired of it but I can't find any better alternative. If you know any better alternative please let me know. and please, do write why you think its better than ElectronJS
Thanks4 -
Being black....It's workin' twice as hard as the people you know you're better than
'Cause you need to do double what they do so you can level them.1 -
Idea: On Devrant mobile the beginning loading screen should have the users icon. I feel this would be better over some random character that you would never know.2

If you're too lazy to do things right, then I'm too apathetic to help you when things don't work.
One thing to not know any better. Another thing to 100% know better then disregard that knowledge because you don't feel like it. -
Gonna use 2020
To get a better job (currently no job . You know why if you know me)
To be a vegetarian.
To make mom happy
To get rid of the internal burnings.
To see her again8 -
Apparently, I am using everything in light theme, from devRant to Atom.
I don't know why but code looks a lot better now.4 -
Know that feeling when you break out of a really deep relationship, end up with someone else who's prettier and better in many ways than your ex yet still, during those intimate moments, you can't help but think about your ex and how good life was with them?
My previous laptop even though it had the same processor, lesser RAM, was less prettier and the SSD being the only upgrade to my new one, somehow worked faster, smoother and felt a lot better. :( -
I hate when lecturers compare between their student and their children which pro in coding, making robot and stuff. I mean mann of course that child better than a human who just know about coding when in uni. Just imagine that child have been apposed to da coding and robotics since they were lil kids ofc they can do better. I mean mann.. Stop comparing.3

Asking for a friend....
New job, fairly new to web development, very new to JS. I am failing miserable at my job can’t complete tickets which are mostly bug fixers created by testers. So I am debugging code that I didn’t write on a tech stack I do not know (ampersand, q, radio, lodash, react, etc)
Do I try to learn the language better?
or
Focus on learning debugging with dev tools and getting better at using the webstorm IDE.7 -
I try to find new stuff which is related to what I already know or is close. I like learning new technologies and techniques 😄. By this I continuously gain more knowledge thereby making me a better developer.
-
When they introduce you to an older project and before opening it up they say “well we got much better since then and do much better coding now..”
This is the moment when you know you’re f*cked -
Force pushing a better version in a different language to the repo of a program that I wrote 2 years ago. It was sort of a memory, but I mainly looked at it to feel better about my current coding style.
I don't want to take comfort in knowing that I'm getting better. I know that, and it feels like false affirmation. If anything, I want to know that I'm good compared to others, not compared to a previous, dumber version of me. I'll never get to beat him anyway.1 -
!rant does anyone know what sustainable computing is? I googled it but I don't think I understand much..like, if I took this as my major for uni then what will my potential careers be like? Is it a better choice then software engineering? 😕😕😕3

You know my earliest design relating to ML was something intended to mimic human evolution by creating large trees of ideas and rules regarding emotions and how they regulated decisions and priorities.
I somehow think that was a better approach. It was more complex but it was better.
and i could reproduce the stolen diagram from memory as well.
hey is it illegal for someone to sell the contents of a storage locker with your birth certificate in it ?2 -
I know that the company is a big factor, but in general, who gets better work-life balance? Front-end developers or Back-end developers?6

Does anyone know the best way of doing GPU stuff in C? I have a cuda enabled GTX 1050, but the cuda drivers screw everything up on machine for some reason.
Is there a better way to do this without the cuda drivers?6 -
I wanted to ask some of you who might know better, i have been working as a backend developer in a tech company for about 8 months now. This is my first ever job so dont know about other companies. Is it common that frontend teams get more spotlight interms of features than backend ? Is this common or is it just the company i work for?4

I want to know what you do to improve yourself. Hard skills and soft skills.
And because I think it's important to always try to get better, do you have tips to be a better lead dev? -
Thinking about switching to Magento from WHMCS. I'll be developing the necessary plugins and all however, I want to know how secure Magento is? (Hoping it's nothing like WordPress)
And would you consider WHMCS to be a better choice?1 -

Why the hate on JS? This isn't me trying to start some dumb war on what is better. I just genuinely would like to know why people specifically hate it.12

Is rkt worth using than docker. I do know the pros for rkt over docker, but on the long run which seems to be better. My manager is worried about the memory consumption. Docker is big obviously when compared. Am I wrong?1

I hereby declare the following the official anthem of Trintellix:
[Chorus]
I can make you feel better oh, if you let me
I can make you feel better ooh, if you want to
I can make you feel better oh, and you know you will
If that's what you want boy
Then you know where to find me
[Verse]
However you're feeling
I can make you feel better
Whatever you're thinking
I can make it all clearer
Don't pretend you know that you feel it
Try so hard, but you can't conceal it
Whatever you feel inside
I can make you feel better
If that's what you want boy
Then you know where to find me
So

How do you know when you’re overengineering something? Like, you look a project and know you can build this with vanilla JS but the creative team wants it built in React because “components are better”. What do you do?

For those who keep complaining about winblows and microshit, just know that windows is highly customizable (registry).
Look here for some tips: https://howtogeek.com/howto/37920/...
It's for win 7 but many should still work for win 104 -
Just letting y'all know, the Michael Hartl books "Learn enough to be dangerous" are on sale. These the items I used to acquaint myself with Rails, to me they are good, maybe others have more experience with them and can recommend better, but to me I like em.4

I don’t know if they really don’t want Sass or if they’re just scared to try it.
Not all new techs are horrible.
Hope one day they will realize that using CSS preprocessors is way better. And it’s not that as complicated as it sounds. Jesus Christ.
@ pro-CSS frontends, any thoughts?5 -
It feels good to be an intern. I literally do nothing. Or barely anything.
I know it's not something good but who says no to a big desk and extra monitor?
At least it's giving me a relatively "better" workspace.1 -
I know my development skills are getting better because I am having more people pitch me ideas....to many ideas...1

Gosh, I'm bored!
Better reinstall Ubuntu on my computer.
(I don't know why I always do that when I'm bored, some sort of habit I think)1 -
Can you teach leadership?
Our dev manager is currently receiving "leadership training" every Friday morning from some folks in upper management... you know, to be a better leader.
Something about personality and EQ... yeah, I call BS!5 -
Hey devranteers,
Do some of you know the LPI-Certs? Are those certs which have some reputation?
Or are there „better“ ones?1 -

Helped SO's parents with web dev I'm a bid to get to know them better. Figure the rest. Don't help family. Atleast not for free. Rather, just don't, unless you're okay with multiple change requests.

Always fun to watch if you know it, inspirational if you don't.
And if your boss is De Niro, meditate - and better be part of the team.
