Wife discovered MS Paint on her laptop.
She asked me how long the ink would last and how to recharge it when it's finished.
I love her anyway.11 -
We got a binary clock at our trainstation. I love it, but most of the people think it's wasted money because they can't read it.66
-
Have a great working week guys! I will spent it on the beach with my devRant t-shirt! Locals love it!15
-
"Dad, just because the envelope has 'USA' printed on it doesn't mean that it's a job offer from Google" :/
Thanks @trogus & @dfox for the stickers.
- With love from India9 -
I love Asus Products but who thought it would be a good idea to have the POWER BUTTON right above the DAMN DELETE KEY!?!?!?!!?
I often press the FUCKING POWER BUTTON accidentally... GOD DAMMIT...21 -

Coffee. I love it.
But with that, I mean *coffee*.
No I don't want a fucking cappucino or a latte or a whatever-the-fuck you call it that is coffee mixed with something not-coffeeish.
I love *coffee* and I want my coffee black and strong as fuck without any bullshit added to it.47 -
Although I love developing I always thought that there was something missing.
I learned Java but didn't really like it. I had spent quite some time with web development and enjoyed it but I felt like developing with JavaScript was too high level and I felt the same for Python.
So I started learning the most awesome programming language: C
I just love that I have so much control over everything and that the language is so compact and gives you just the right amount of tools you need.
I also love physics and electronics a lot and it feels awesome to first build something and then program it.
I am looking forward to design a PCB (printed circuit board) and write code for an AVR microcontroller like the Atmega328 (most arduinos use this one).
Picture of the project I am working on.10 -
Alright, since the organizer for the European devRant meetup canceled it (let's not get butthurt/hating etc), I'd love to (with the help of some other people) organize one myself since I was really looking forward to it!
Question would be, who'd be up for it?
Location would most likely be Germany since that's the most central point.
I'd love to hear from you all!55 -
I love how my laptop crashed twice in less than 30 minutes.
I thought is was the shit load of windows.
But it was a driver problem.
;)3 -
I love python, its the language I never really struggled a lot with yet also progressing so fast with it as a programmer!19
-
I love coding
But I hate coding
But I love coding
But I hate my buggy IDE
But I love coding
But my back hurts from all that sitting
But I want to work on my side project
But at times, it's frustration.MaxValue
But anything remotely related to coding I find interesting
But it's so hard to abide by good practices
But I love coding
But progress is so fizzlingly slow
But I love that elegant solution of the other day
But it took me 57 attempts to arrive at that elegant solution
But the shit I'm building is so cool
But
But
😦1 -
It seem uncommen because of all the 'hate my job rants' but
I love my current dev job and that makes it for me ideal 😄2 -
Don't you love when you spend the whole night trying to find the cause of an elusive bug, then you give up, you go to sleep, and the next morning after only 30s of looking at the code you finally find it and fix it?2
-
Just woke up and had a shower. I can hardly keep my fucking eyes open.
Only three nights to go. Yay for being the on call/disruption engineer 😑7 -
I love apps that let you customize the settings, and this one is amazing. It allows the user to customize nearly everything! Even the icon color and the LED blink color.12

It's raining. I love it.
It's foggy. I love it.
But I live in a desert and nobody here seems to know how to handle the rain, let alone the fog. (It isn't hard, people!) Last night during my ~30 min drive home from work, five separate accidents/collisions happened just a little ways behind me because it was raining. Now it's foggy, too.
I have to go to work.
I'm scared.12 -
I just love going through the code review gauntlet doing maintenance work, don’t you?
(“boyscout rule” = “leave it better than you found it”)7 -
I'm a huge fan of the imagecreatefromstring function in PHP. I love how it can just take any image format as a string and turn it into an image!

Assembly...
Do I really need to say more? Okay, it's low level so there is no abstraction. All you deal with is cold naked mathematical truth and physical limitations.
It's still ❤️8 -
After discussing in dev rant i got the best keyboard for typing cherry mx brown , hyperx alloy fps ....i love it!!!!18

I love the fact that some programmers will put there heart and soul into a project and spend there entire life working on it to only have no recognition or earn a single cent.
Yet the man who invented toilet paper literally wiped his ass and made millions...
I love how the world works! :-D5 -
Feature request for @dfox:
Swiping for rants:
Left = nay, right = yay
Or better:
Match making via rants for devSingles.
Just kidding! I love devRant the way it is. It's the best app. Probably the best of all. It's huge. You'll like it.7 -
Just wanna say I fucking LOVE..
... Linux
... Open source
... GPL & MIT License

... TDDR (Too Dunk, Don’t Remember)
Most of us are complaining / ranting way more often about development and technology than we do appreciate it..
Just look at our great and unique community..
Im often angry but right now I remember how great the dev community is and I love it:)4 -
For the love of God stop having your fucking secretary make the design decisions. "Make the logo bigger"
The header looks like shit if it takes up 1/4 of the screen Karen 😡😡8 -
I fucking love my local phone service provider. They have a game (70mb) like Temple run where we get free mobile data for playing it. The 70 mb for downloading it gets reimbursed too !!22
-
Don't you love it when there is a new minor release or a critical dependency and it breaks backwards compatibility without mentioning any of it in the changelog or docs?
I absolutely love it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I certainly did not waste 3 hours of my life to find it. No i didn't. -
I forced myself to use git on my latest projects. And the more I use it, the more I love it. I can relate to all the git-love here on devRant.21
-
The best feeling is writing some software and then random strangers telling you how much they love it. So satisfying.3
-
Don't try to make it perfect. For the love of god don't. It will never be and you will never finish anything5
-
Joined devRant a week ago...I use it almost all the time... Can't even think about uninstalling it...It feels like all my brothers in arms are here....I love this new home.3
-
Thanks @dfox and Tim for the awesome stickers which miraculously made it all the way to Sydney! Love seeing that you guys are so in touch with your audience 😊12

The biggest passion of them all, for me: music.
In my case this is rawstyle/raw hardstyle/hardstyle but especially the most brutal rawstyle.
I love the energy it gives me and to listen to the techniques the artists use and also that, after a while, while the kicks all sound the same for many people, immediately identify the artist behind a kick when even hearing it for the first time (90 percent accuracy).
I'd love to produce it but I lack the skill set to do that as for now 😥
A tattoo related to this music genre is coming soon :D9 -
That moment when the you actually think that this huge refactoring isn't worth it, but you do it anyway so you can live with yourself...
Code quality is love. Code quality is life.1 -
The world needs 'User Error Codes'. At the very least it will give IT Support Techs a smile, nice to spread the love:
16001 - Incompatible User : replace user
16005 - User Deleted Content : laugh at user
16404 - User Not Found : check pub2 -
Coding is like pizza
You love it and can't get enough, but you torture yourself indulging in it at nights, wish it didn't make you seem fat and attractive to the majority of the population, and it will never love you back -
I fucking love the DevRant community. The amount of honesty here and ranting is 🔥.
Let the rage flow through you and keep it up fam.7 -
I love programming late at night, If I do something wrong I can blame it on the fact that I was tired.3
-
I LOVE WORK FROM HOME!! I love it sooooo much. You suckers think I’m actually doing work? HAHA. No honest, I’m so much more productive at home than in the office! Hahaha I love this!!!8

Been using Atom for the longest while and recently switched to VS Code. I was not expecting to say this but I actually love it.2

I love programming . It's the only think in my life that I enjoy .But I am afraid that i won't get job in IT field5
-
I love the shock on the developer face when we talk about JavaScript and he realize it changed a bit during the last 5 years.4
-
Win 10 is the best, I love how it just restarts without asking, no more hassle of me having to confirm anything, or save data first. finally an OS that has the confidence to just do whatever the fuck it wants, so awesome!3
-
I cannot take this shit seriously.
I don't feel like reading the rest of it
Title: fuck typescript
1st line: well, actually I love typescript9 -
When you give a Deep Learning scientist a clean whiteboard.
This is literally 5 minutes into the second section of the class 😂😂4 -
I fucking love the vsCode "search everywhere" function, it saved me countless times with chinese frameworks, holy shit.3
-
Definitely a blackboard or whiteboard. Definitely helps in the modularity of my code. I love it when I spend 90% of my time drawing out my idea on a blackboard, implementing it and having it be super modular.3
-
I really love how beautiful code can be, and the feeling of creating something for others or yourself to enjoy. But I hate being the family's IT guy... I'm a developer not IT support.4
-
FOR THE LOVE OF CHRISTMAS, LET'S STOP THE LANGUAGE WAR.
JUST FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW, WE CAN DO IT.6 -
i kinda hate my job, but i also enjoy my job. i hate that I'm overworked, i like being recognized for my competence. i hate the bosses, love my colleagues. i hate the shitty code i have to maintain, but i love making something better to substitute it.2
-
I love to code, it scratches my creative itch
And i love to work, it drowns my productivity anxiety
But I dread every morning when i wake up to work on my current employer's project
It's that kind of combo of code base spaghetti and all over the place project management that sinks my galleys
Woe is me...5 -
My use of linux could legally drink now, in the US. And even after 21 years, I still love it more all the time.2
-
AOSP
Even though Googles decisions around it are questionable most of the time, I love that we have an (almost) completely open ecosystem for smartphones.
And the thing about it I love the most is the amazing modding community around it. -
@trogus it would be pretty rad to have an avatar option that would add a devRant sticker to a laptop.
btw: I love the Rubik's cube chillin with the rubber ducking debugger.3 -
I love materializecss.com .. I love the concept and I don't know why, but I like it ways better than bootstrap. Materialize looks kinda fresh to me - not the classic Material Design. Aaaaaand it's very easy to work with it.5
-
When they are fumigating the office and the boss says they need to spray some more around the programmers desks.
Gotta love it when your boss has a sense of humour.1 -
I love brackets on the same line as function declaration and I am proud of it.
func() {
return war;
}5 -
Love my computer.
Opened edge(chrome was not responding).
In 2 seconds it crashed and windows killed the process.
❤❤❤2 -
Man, as much as I love reaping the benefits of Continuous Integration, I sure fucking despise having to set it up.
By the way, hi devRant!3 -
Look... Linux... I fucking love you and I especially love elementary OS but please... Why is it so fucking difficult to be able to play a youtube video in fullscreen or have a browser go fullscreen without the window locking up -.-
(Feel free to chip any advice, it's super annoying because it works perfectly on my primary monitor but not any other)12 -
I love this Google's Colab feature, when I saw it, I just laughed for no reason!
A button to the answer :)7 -
Love it when testers loose there shit and take loads of screenshots, arrows everywhere, the lot...
But no explanation of what they are actually trying to show.
😂 -
Audacity repository being on fire for the new privacy policy is something I just can't stop watching ... I love it.12
-
Ada Lovelace 1834 (The First Programmer) Doctor Who season 12 😍
One of the reasons I love this show is how it brings history to life.23 -
PM: we don't want longpress events, it is way better to clutter up the ui with checkboxes or toggles ... Users love toggling toggles
ME: npm-install-90sUIKIT7 -
Working at my company for one year with two old 20 inch monitors. My boss asked my what would improve my productivity. I said give me two fucking huge and nice monitors. I got the approval that he ordered for all of us new monitors.
One of the support guys told me the we will get the monitors today. Yeah but that was two weeks ago..
Now all of us are only taking about new monitors.. kinda funny that you can get excited for hardware so easy. Love the IT <31 -
Gotta love it when you've just hit your pace with a project and then the requirements change...
Three times in a row...3 -

Some devRanters here live in Ireland? Got to say I just tried Guinness for the first time and I love it!6 -
You know that, there is an app which stops the windows automatic updates, it is called linux kernel. But it goes beyond that, I have fixed mac os issues with that as well. Love it3
-
This is the poster I have on my door, in the hopes it would determine people from disturbing me and consequently taking me out of the zone and productivity streak I'm on. Sadly it does not work as often as I'd like it to 🙁 but I still love it 😆6
-
Gotta love how the internet remembers everything.
He won't publicly shame the company, but the last commit is named "removed company name", guess what it contains...
https://github.com/krizsoo/...2 -
Definitely Dungeons & Dragons.
One of the oldest geeky fantasy roleplaying games and I love it.
My first teacher teacher at my bachelors got me into it. Tried it out and I've need addicted ever since.8 -
As much as I love using a mechanical keyboard ,I fucking hate the taps it makes when others use it
It’s like this constant hammer,
FUCK YOU BITCHES , don’t fucking hit it likes there’s no tomorrow !!!5 -
Is it just me, or is the rants longing for stickers and balls (sounds vaguely euphemistic) becoming just a bit too common?
I love some good stickers as much as the next guy, but wouldn't it be more fun to have them for something more, well, rant-y?
But by all means, keep ranting about what you think about, I love all of it.3 -
"If we need to deprioritize something that's fine, as long as it all still gets done by the time we agreed on."
Gotta love product management types.4 -
when you love trying out new software that could improve your entire company’s setup but the rest of your team runs from it 👀3
-
When nobody takes you seriously when you say you don't do it for the money....i genuinely love what i do and you should too.
-
Although the screen is blurry, that just Windows doing what it does best... BSOD, you gotta love movie theater bluescreens.2
-
Don't you just love it when you come in late and the commit you made last night and were certain was going to work, doesn't work and everybody is pissed because of it? And all because your shell won't run since the line ending of your sh file was somehow Windows instead of UNIX.
Fucking love it ^_^1 -
update : love my new job... but, holly crap the sharepoint environment is a cluster fuck... guess who has to fix it... -!-6
-
Just wondering why most of you here hate php. I have multiple live projects using the Laravel framework, runs great and I love it!13
-
I just love it to giggle at "hackers" in movies/series.
"He used an ARP to 'crack' the hostname of the server"
And then a countdown when the Server is hacked...10 -
Guess I just semi-wrecked my old testbed Android phone.
Don't you just love it when you touch on the screen in the middle and it registers as a touch to the top right corner? I sure don't.1 -
Is it only me who's falling in love with JS day by day. I don't know why people hate JS and find it complicated. May be the NODE development is easier9
-
I love this website https://dimden.dev/
It has a little live chat for others that are on the website, bridged to some discord.
It shows the mouse pointers of the other peoples that are on that website.
It has a cool retro aesthetic and it has 88x31 web badges.2 -
I was so mad at work today that I started singing to "Icona Pop - I love it" during lunch but altered the lyrics to match how I felt... Just sing along when your day is as bad as mine:
"I crashed my project into a wall, I watched, I let it burn" ... "I don't care, I love it"
"I threw this shit into a file and pushed it up to GIT" ... "I don't care, I love it"
"I got this feeling on the summer day when I'm gone" ... "I don't care, I love it" -
punk: the world is not fair, and I hate it
post-punk: the world is not fair, and I love it
ska: the world is not fair, and I have a trumpet1 -
I fckin love it when you start working on a new project in a new team and the 5000 lines of Angular code are acompanied by 0 documentation.

thank you @dfox! love the new avatar builder!
is it possible to link those avatars/expose an api to use on other sites?5 -
I love technology. I love programming and developing software. I love self-learning new things.
But I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate Math. And suck at it too.
I want to study comp-sci at the university but I'm scared of the math.
Any tips?13 -
I just love the Windows Developer Support... but unfortunately I don't have the possibility to use it (error when try to submit an incident). :D
Maybe it's a feature, not a bug...3 -
Don't you just love it when a department buys a software for the company without consulting IT and Data Management departments? You know to discuss integration, flexibility, compatibility and all that?
Don't you love it even more when the users of this new software then complain about the different tools that have to learn and the workflow being completely scattered?
But hey, they work in administration, so I'm sure they know what they are doing. ⚡⚡⚡4 -
From the moment I realised I was a TABs guy, and she a SPACEs person, it was all over. Love became terribly bad "indented" from that very moment.2

I love it when a friend calls for help... i really do. But why the fuck it's all about hacking someone's account.2

Anyone noticed the MS Store icon changed to a BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL MS LOGO SHOPPING BAG?
I LOVE IT!
FML / FYMS (F*** YOU MS)8 -
I love adding documentation in a sprint and then it prevents us from releasing a product because someone did not finish the story. *doing Agile wrong*

love it when people rage quit when you fix the tech debt problem they created because they think the fix is too stupid 🤣BYEEEEE!

Love it when PM/business adds a bunch of extra tickets on the last week of a 3 week spring.
Or
I love it when business sends you a requirement, you build it, then they add more requirements that contradict the original requirements1 -
I would like to proclaim my utmost love and respect to a programming language and one of its framework.
This language/framework combo was so beautiful that during development I had fantasies about it coming to life as the women I want to marry. I genuinely felt love in my heart to her. I even felt butterflies in my stomach thinking about her!
But I'm worried I might jinx it. So I'm not gonna name it.
I love you.8 -
Love how people are getting excited about the new Samsung devices and I'm here excited for the Nokia 8.1 and considering selling my pixel 2 XL and downgrading to it...
(Fuck Samsung)21 -
Isn't it beautiful? It's a DS game. I LOVE it when they use the lowest resolution textures because of hardware limitations, yet use real 3D. I want to live in this picture. It feels like home.2

When you accidentally forget the wk98 tag as well as the time it happened...
Thank you guys for caring about the anime I lost. Love this community2 -
1. The end result. The moment it works.
2. The possibilities. You can either change the world or amuse yourself. It's your choice.
3. What's not to love about code? -
I absolutely love the work put into Visual Studio Code.
It is a great editor, which evolves quickly and has a nice community.
Was using vim for literally everything and switched at some point to VS code and love using it since2 -
I hate so very much about so very many things, I forget some of the things I love.
And what I love is small lines of code that reveal something about their developer. This? This I love to see.
Some guy here studied C at university, decided he liked it so much he would port it over to JS. Absolutely pointless effort, but he decided he would do it nonetheless. The code is clean, documented, just with this little quirk and I'm honestly smiling. You rock, buddy, whoever you are.2 -
I watched about 5 minutes of The IT Crowd on Netflix. I already love it, and it makes me scared of the real world xD3
-
Why does it feel like nobody uses D?
I love it. It combines the best bits of C++, Java, Ruby and even some Python. It still is C ABI and C++ ABI (ish) compatible. It can do everything you need it to. It's not limited like Java. It feels cleaner than C. I LOVE IT. But I don't understand why there's not much going on about it. Is it because it's not 100% stable yet? I don't know. AAAARGH7 -
I really like vue.js. For the most part because it allows me to walk through the office and randomly say "I love vue"2
-
I just found an old util class of mine for messing with some data before sending it to the api.
The methods are called:
burnId
mutilateDate
cleanseDates

I love it. -
Love the new web app for devRant!
Would love to see it as a PWA in the future but it's currently an amazing web app, well done guys! -
My fiancé bought me a new laptop for my birthday. Not the greatest but it works. I put Mint 19.X (don’t know which version but latest) on it and I’m in love.

So I'm finally doing the job I was hired to do 2 years ago, with the promise of working 1.5 years ago, and scheduled to work 1 year ago as the project slips about a 1.25 years.
The project is on it's 3.5th year of a 3 year plan and based on the architecture of the project, the project architect started a degree in software architecture 4 years ago. In Latin. When his first language was Japanese and his second was Indian English while this was a US company. And his entire degree was in Lisp, PHP, and html, this project is in C#, and his professional background is in Fortran.
This is a man who is no longer on the project, not allowed to contribute or talk to us about the project, and what little documentation he left us is in Swahili translated from Korean via Google translate from the second year Korean language major exchange student from Russia who got really into meth and Telenovelas.
It is every version of MV* without the M and with every definition of * including some he made up and some that have only been proven to exist via machine learning algorithm written in SQL statements.
This project represents an implementation of the presentation tier of an n-tier application, yet attempts to reimplement the other n-1 tiers in html5 and the dreams of children.
The new lead is a former engineer that couldn't begin coding until he figured out how to map all of his variables to his former cars and girlfriends inclusively and learned his management skills from the big book of micro managers and that one time everyone else in the office was sick but the intern. Who now has a girlfriend whom he works 200 feet from so he isn't 100% thinking with his largest head. At least from observation.
Yet, I still can't bring myself to go be with the whales/become an accountant. -
My lovely team and I inherited a legacy app written in Angular 14.
We love it when we get fucked by Pajeets like this.
We love tons of `any`-s in the codebase.
We love unreadable code with 5 levels of nested ternary operators.
We love the lack of a README on how to actually build/start the app.
We love the outdated dependencies.
And we absolutely love it when you use a paid package that costs $1755.4 -
Do love it when your code works and the system to implement it works.
But when you run it, it doesn't work.
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ -
Anyone watched the Silicon Valley? AMAZING! I love it, Ehrlich and Gilfoyle are the best!
Does someone know a similar show? And please don't suggest the IT crowd, I don't like it8 -
Gotta love the companies that give you the choice to register for their newsletter but will add you to it regardless if you ticked the box or not.1
-
Just watched Zombieland 2 in the cinema and the dumb blonde girl in the movie was so fucking sweet and adorable and NOT TO EVEN MENTION HOW HOT SHE WAS, but i fucking fell in love with her PERSONALITY, i know its an act but i also know there are people who exist with that personality, this is very weird to me because i fall in love by the looks, rarely by the behavior but i this time i love her because of her personality lol what the fuck is this
I didnt know it was possible to fall in love with someones personality like i dont even have the urge to fuck her just to love her for personality lmao
Aight im talking about this like we are exclusive but it was just a dumb but chill movie9 -
I discovered the Source Making website a couple weeks ago, it's awesome.
It gives you clear tutorials on the essential design patterns and refactoring techniques complete with example situations and code. Love it!3 -

The company I'm working for organizes meetups in Mexico City about web technology, i love it because supports opensource software1
-
I just love it when the management/project office make decisions regarding code language and frameworks and such... just ignore the devs with actual experience...4
-
Don't you just love it when project works in the IDE but as soon as you build the artifact and try to run that it just straight out refuses to run and does not spit out any errors 😐
-
My favorite item imported all the way from the Netherlands. best drink ever. love using my soda stream to turn it into a soda :)8

Do love it when I copy the selector via the inspect tool and I use it in my JQuery selector and it still doesn't work!

Love Letter To The Future
Go read it, seriously, dont wait. If you wait it might gone before you even have a chance. This is what we face. The elections don't matter.
This is the real danger we all face.

Auto-discovery licensing servers are the best invention since sliced bread.
Whenever a product company provides them I just automatically love their product for it. -
Decentralized, block chain based Bitcoin Trading Software!
I just love it!
No for real now, I'm very excited about WebAssembly and the benefits of it! Can't wait to see games running on it!2 -

Anyone of you use Jetbrains IDE‘s? I love them but sometimes, they have weird bugs and it just triggers me everytime so hard, I could take my Computer and throw it out the window.11
-
Started the Course "Web Development with JavaScript and DOM" a week ago. I love it. First time I've tried Bootstrap. It's great.3
-
When I first met the Logo turtle I was hooked. Then learned Pascal. Saw recursion and my brain exploded. 23 years and still love it every day 🐢
-
I love our scm. It's such a great piece of technology. It really aides me as a developer. It really makes my life easier. It isn't missing any features. It's worth the money it costs.
All of that is a lie. -
I had the pleasure of rewriting some hacky rails code of a colleague yesterday. I love the way it looks now, but man. What a beunhaas2

Gotta love it when Visual Studio 2015 unexpectedly quits for the twelfth time today. It wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't take three minutes to start up and load my project every time.4
-
I just started learning java cause i have to because of uni, and i heavily used JS before , but somehow i really love the statically typed syntax and it brings so much clarity about what everything is doing.
Also love how object oriented everything is5 -
Well... I was in a room, my computer was in a room. I was bored, so I just browsed around wikipedia. Then, baaam, suddenly i was at the page for programming. I read about and i was in love. It was love at first sight.
-
I just love it when the debugger integration into the IDE breaks for no good reason.
I also love that the github issue about it was closed for inactivity. Because problems magically disappear if no one screams "same issue here" for long enough.
Fuck you too19 -
Ok let's get our hate and love out for the 3 main OS types, tell us why you hate or love each of them.
Windows: I hate its lack of customisation, colours and wallpapers only go so far, and how fucking bloated it is and how little you can do about it.
Linux: it's open, free, and pretty much a sandbox for changes and is lightweight, plus if you don't like something about it, remove it, whats not to love!
MacOS: I love it because it just works and could also run on a potato (yeah I said it, fight me) and it's just a very good looking is with fluid animations and simplicity.
Now, don't be hating on people's opinions here so keep it civil :-P13 -
I love Mikrotik. Just fucking love them. I also love my residential fiber service. Small company. Synchronous 125M service. No caps. Bandwidth is always there.
BUT... They use PPPOE (seriously guys?), and the IP changes on *every single re-connect*. Also: no IPv6 support. I know. I don't need it. But I want it.
Enter DNSMadeEasy's DDNS, Hurricane Electric's 6to4 tunnel service, and my Routerboard AH100x4. I wrote a script that runs on the router whenever my IP changes. It updates my DDNS record, updates my 6to4 tunnel IP using HE's API, and updates my local 6to4 interface's IP.
It just works. My public IPv4 may change, but the /48 IPv6 networks on my LAN side stay fully routeable.4 -
The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet , keep looking .Don't settle 🙌

Love to ear the due date to a projecto ia for tomorrow and i have to code 3000+ linea of code and test it in one day...3
-
!Rant and i also might be late to the party. But i love pipewire. I tried it out yesterday, installation was straightforward and it just works.
(let's see how long it takes, until i go back to pulseaudio though)2 -

Gotta love the silly things a community brings forth. Never fails to crank me up when I accidentally use it and kinda replenishes my energy / motivation.3 -
I love containerization platforms....for eg. Docker....You can do whatever you want to do in the container..., literally blast it....and whamm!! ....within a minute or two, you can recreate it
-
I love FP for sure, but it kind of looks weird in PHP. Tough I realy like the desgin of this website.

I honestly love arguments that deal with programming and the "proper" ways to do things in the workplace. It makes work slightly more enjoyable lol.1
-
Has anyone heard of the crystal programming language?I just found out about it today and I think I'm in love 😍2
-
Oh you got to love devs...
One dev will say one thing and swear by it...
Another dev will say the opposite... And swear by it
🙄😨 -
I always feared databases, but Django makes it so comprehensible. I only have to define relationships, and everything else is taken care of under the hood. Love it!11
-
Was watching the Google live event. Must confess that I'm highly disappointed with the looks of the Pixel 2 . I guess 2017 is just not the year for Google! I mean I love the software improvements but let's admit it that inspite of us being software devs , we ourselves love good design! The pixel 2 just does not make the cut according to me. It looks like a brick. Google does need some hardware devs!10
-
aw yea, don’t you love it when they cancel the programming section of the computer science gcse and change around the course while you’re 3/4 of the way through it
http://bbc.co.uk/news/...6 -
The amount of boilerplating required to write a simple subject state service on angular.
I still love it tho. Very organized. Allows better thinking by explicitly stating the registered services in modules.2 -
Dear Microsoft, I see what you were going for, and I love you for it; but for the love of god, please fucking fix the clusterfuck that is Nuget.
I use a private feed for client work, and I have the public source registered too, so why would installing a new .core template from Nuget fail just because it tried the private feed first and shit itself?
It really shouldn’t be this hard.
Sincerely,
Brolls -
Gotta love it when you wake up, with the deadline still ringing in your head, and your Intellisense breaks from one day to another, all because there was an update. Gosh how I love modern WebDevelopment8

Just went to my first Ruby Meetup in Lyon, FR 😍
It was so weird to actually meet people that fully understand why you love Ruby so much, since they love it too!
I'm so envious of the people whose job is to develop in this language, I really hope my next job will be about working with Rails too *.*1 -
I hate it when designers just LOVE to use blend mode multiply everywhere, and the client is looking at the website in IE asking why it's not the same as design.
-
In the past couple weeks I've switched from openbox to bspwm, and I am in love. The tiling is whatever, but I love the granular control bspwm offers for monitors, desktops, and nodes(windows). I love running extremely customizable apps like sxhkd, polybar, and picom to make it my own. Anybody else around here using bspwm?3
-
The rant that is referred by another rant (https://devrant.com/rants/2154321/...) sums it up pretty well.3
-
Don't you love it when your CSS has two equally valid positions so doing and then reversing a DOM manipulation leaves the site in a mess?1
-
Just saw new rick and morty episode solo awesome spoilers in this not rantish post but the post apocalypse episode is siccckkk I love it
-
I love it when you and the dev team completely forget about the timeline and start implementing random shit thinking it'll work.
We will get there eventually -
I just learned the existence of Laravel. It made my life 1000 times better. I will just abandon the normal PHP coding workflow, I will juet use Laravel now. I love it.5

For some reason
I hate GitHub
This is something I wanted to get off my chest because all of my friends are in love with it and I love how it's got proper documentation and stuff but idk
I feel tooo

GONNA KEEP MY CODE WITH ME IF ANYONE WANTS IT, use email

I have a love hate relationship with the Java garbage collector I love it when it works but when I notice it gcing in performance tests I know bad days are ahead
-
. Resisted the urge of trying Firefox Quantum when everyone was talking about it on here.
. Finally gave in today and tried it.
. Fell in love with it.3 -
I love Django, the philosophy behind it and how smart it is. I hate the Python ecosystem. virtualenv and pip is really dump e.g.4
-
I just love it when there is a power outage just after we all go home for the weekend. Coming back to dead servers is the best!
-
Finally got a use case for gitea, the installation was amazingly simple and love how fast and lightweight on resources it is.1
-
I love searching for things like "which is the best online learning site" on the Internet and seeing strongly opinionated answers. Like, I don't need your political correctness telling me that it depends! I just need your opinion based on your personal experience! This is why I love Reddit and other discussion sites.
-
I love how easy it is to build a native app these days thanks to tools like react native but also hate convoluted it becomes of you want to do anything “outside of the box”
-
That moment when I.. Wait, I think it's when... NAH... Never had one. It doesn't mean I hate it thought. For me it's more: I fall in love with it in the process of learning it.2

The devRant update is so great. So many of us love devRant and it keeps getting better and better. Thanks guys!
-
How about language specific clothing, I would love to don the allegiance to my language on my armor in DevRant (and it makes you easier to identify)3
-
So I'm currently having a love/hate relationship with Atom... I love that it only has what I want and nothing more, but I hate that it lacks a lot of basic features like automatically adding the closing tags to my html, and the only beautifying package I can find defaults to two spaces instead of my usual 4 and I can't find how to change it.
Does anyone know how to change the spacing on the beautify package? And does anyone know a package that will auto close my html tags?7 -
Appreciation Rant for WebStorm's latest update to its React support -- Shift-F6 on useState hooks renames the state and its dispatch function name and I fricken love it2
-
Why I love to code?
1. The only thing I feel like I have control over (thanks to control loops XD).
2. Feeling like god when my code works.
3. I just love it, no reason needed, just pure love for it.1 -
ok it's official
I love Kamala Harris
she's so fucking hilarious

it's amazing. I love it. I'm dying7 -
I love it how I think I know which apps are updated, but can't figure out which one needs updating when the Play Store notification comes up
-
I love it when the bower_component/addon-name/addon-name.js ~ is what I expect it should be, but I still have to open a finder window and check every time to make sure. : /3
-
Why I love to code?
0. The community can be really awesome
1. The memes
2. They pay me lots of money for it? -
I have a Lenono X200, and it is with no doubt the best laptop I've ever had, at least in terms of quality/price. It runs like a charm, and I paid 85€ for It. I love It! 🙂1
-
It was compulsory to study logo at the school, class 4. Was around 10 at that time. Love what I could make the turtle do with commands. FF 2 years, learnt HTML in school. Loved how some tags made a webpage. Didn't code for next 7 years(idiotic decision?). Started with Java and Android development and fell in love again. Didn't let it go this time 😀
-
- I love blowing my mind. Even if it is the most confusing thing. Things like security mechanisms, neurons' behaviors, mathematics (even tho I hate it when I fail lol), electronics, medical terminology and chemistry.
- I love collecting rare coins, personally never-seen stones and put them into my collection. I love to be a designer. Not only on my laptop. I have a book shelf and within that book shelf I put stones that create the yin yang sign while pushing the books to two sides. That makes them look like they are levitating. I have stones (including obsidian) that create a triangle and a knife hanging down the wall of my room.
- I love visiting touristic, historic, naturally-beautiful but also non-touristic (non-touristic? yes. by that I mean visiting e.g. the areas of touristic cities which are dangerous, because you can easily fall down off of a slippery ground and take serious injuries) places around the globe, talk to complete strangers in public (I am trying to be an extrovert), take pictures with my camera and collecting antiquities.
- I love taking risks (no. I don't play any poker games etc on the internet) without trying to put other people in risk. Driving insanely with whatever I have. Car, bike, you name it.
- I love reading books. Books that are about human psychology, fantasy novels and books about programming languages.
- I love to cook (I am at the beginning).
- I love to use the konMari method of tidying up my room.
- I love plants.
- I love having everything in my room tidied up (even if I am too busy with other stuff and skip this cleaning process for a week upto a month sometimes. Sorry, room.).
- I love doing sports. But mostly sport that I have never tried before. This can be, because of my greedy wish for an adrenaline kick. That led me into taking a balloon flight at 4 am (sunrise) and to paragliding at sunset above Mediterranean sea btw. (I am normally afraid of flying, but paragliding was awesome).
- I love swimming. Like, you cannot pull me out of the sea for a minimum of 2 hours, if it is not important.
- I love laying above the sea water and let the sea carry me to somewhere else.
- I love being alone. I love the silence. I love to be free in my thoughts.
- I love watching the sunset, the light that shines through the forest, the moonlight and the stars at night.
- I love dreaming. No, like, lucid dreaming for example.
- I love being open to any opinions.
- I love to learn about other people's views about the world and their religion.
- I love pets and would do anything to keep them alive when they are ill. It hurts my heart seeing them like this.
- I love watching demonic "A: Holy shit! Did you see this thing, too?! B: Yes!" YouTube videos just for the fun of it, but I hate horror movies and games.
- I love trying out new things. The creation of music and video for example.
- I love to give my hair and beard a shape, if I am too lazy to go to the barbershop lol. By that I don't mean just going to the barbershop, but taking an electric razor and cutting my hair myself even if I get bad results from time to time that can be corrected by letting any family member tell me in which area of of my head the hair problem is.
- I don't like disco clubs.
- I don't like toxic people even though I can be a quite toxic person myself without realizing it. If I appear toxic to you, inform me about it. Having so much testosterone in that moment, can make me do things that I don't want to do.
- I don't like drugs even tho I have to admit that I am trying a few from time to time (maybe 6 months in-between) to have a dopamine kick. I am not an addict.
- I hate myself for things that I did in the past.
- I used to watch MMA videos etc.
- I used to use a telescope, but I can't find it anymore.
- I used to have a microscope, but I can't find it anywhere and besides of that the seller did literally piss in it before selling it to me many years ago. Don't want to touch it tbh.
- I used to play games, but I don't enjoy games anymore. That makes me feel sad.
- I miss the old moments of my life.
In conclusion:
I like how things went and go so far. It changed me so much. It made me a good and a bad person. I became more open and confident, but it also particularly made me a leader who can say "fuck off" in a bad way to his family. I would like to undo this particular part of me.5 -
I love it when clients call the website developer of the company and tell with how to do his job!
It's fascinating watching the struggle... -
I actually don't hate Microsoft that much , its a great tool when come to stream and download pirated movies and games too , I just hate it whet it cause interference with work, slowly ness, turn of issues, I hate the refresh feature which I through they I'll remove it on win 10, love the multiscreen feature on win10, love that they support Linux env build now,
-
"I love making the stuff, that’s sort of the core of it. I love creating the stuff. It’s so satisfying to get from the beginning to the end, from a shaky nothing idea to something that’s well formed and the audience really likes. It’s like a drug: You keep trying to do it again and again and again. I’ve learned from experience that if you work harder at it, and apply more energy and time to it, and more consistency, you get a better result. It comes from the work." - Louis C.K.2
-
Even though I love distro hopping, it always makes me kinda sad to send another operating system to the great flash drive in the sky2
-
1. I love using it for automation and creation of new stuff
2. I'm a visual thinker and working with abstract things. The process of thinking about a program and developing it is especially rewarding and exciting for me
3. I especially like using it in relation with Maths for algorithms and scheduling, which is tightly related to (2), but also to the fact that I love Maths -
We're in the future, folks! I love it when applications do this unexpectedly(only in my pet projects tho).1

Follow up to the rant before.
I fucking fixed it. And lo and behold, it was a goddamn linkerscript issue.
I FUCKING HATE THIS
AND I LOVE THIS. -
I never thought I'd be able to genuinely use the excuse "my code's compiling" to explain why I'm goofing off... I love it :D
-
Professor: surprise, now you are the member of the laboratory.
Me: what!?
That's what I start coding, and love it! -
I love how using the windows authenticator app sometimes just ends with "denied" status despite doing everything right to approve the request because, of course. Do it again.
-
I love it when there is a win and everybody is hyped, bit then there are people like me that also remember the losses of the past 🤭
-
In the beginning there was Vanilla that generate HTML which felt in love with CSS .....it passes a long time thus this pure essences creates a lot of frameworks and libraries thus the time has passed and Angular make love with React saying each other "I LoVue" and thus generate Vue.... a Vue-tiful creature 😄1
-
Though JS is a terrible language( as it's absolutely insane ), why do developers love it and why is it taking over the programming world?
JS is just like the C for web, but a bit weird.13 -
I love it when you are initiated into a new project within 30 minutes which must be finished in 2 weeks and you have no idea of anything! In addition, there are customers who have further problems wich must also be solved immediately!
My co-workers are all already in the holidays and enjoy the sun!
I love my work...1 -
Love the mobile UX of the developments I do, to make sure that I'm doing something that a user will like to use and considers it user friendly and intuitive.

Fuck, I love soundcloud but as an artist without any reputation, it fucking sucks when you upload a song, get an instant "love" from some random "promoter/bot" without the bot having the decency to listen, and when I look at the bot's profile, they "love" tracks that are not in my genre >_< (and manage to listen 60 minutes-worth of music in 1 minute...)
Not that I care whether people listen or not (it's more an ongoing portfolio to see how my mixing evolves over the years), but at least listen to it for 5 seconds2 -
Or when I get a jira task and I spend more trying to understand what the fuck is it supposed to mean than actually solving it.
Love it.
And yes, asking about it would take even more time. -
Does anyone else share the love for lenovo laptopd when it comes to coding? Price, specs and sexy keyboard :o3
-
Don't you just love it when you waste half of your day chasing a bug and a turns out to be a typo... gotta love the typos!
-
...However, tough love is given where tough love is due. It would be great if one, using the mouse, could close several tabs sequentially without moving the pointer. Currently it's tedious due to the differently sized tabs.
-
Is the devRant Swag Store website made from scratch or is it a Shopify template? Just curious because I love the layout and how clean it is.4

Why Linux Mint feels like a teenager who doesn't want to grow up and be a real man?
Over the years Linux mint is what it is and i can assure you will be in the upcoming hundred years, it's so boring by default, it is based on Ubuntu, if that's the case why the devs are re-inventing something worse than ubuntu, people will argue, it comes with customization, okay, do you call few extensions a gateway to customization? I installed it in a VM and customized it to what i almost wished for however, it still feels like a child who spoiled his room over and over, is that the best thing the devs can make? I try my best to love it but from the inside there is no love, it's like your girlfrienr who you pretend to love but you are disguised....
Guys why you are using such distro?11 -
Best keyboards for programming? I currently use the Logitech wave and love it, but would like to explore other options.4
-
I love linux but it doesn't run Windows applications natively, but Windows doesn't have the awesome UNIX shell so I'm kinda stuck6
-
"Twitter isn’t really it, and Stack Overflow is a trash fire. "
I love this quote from the TNW article. -
Love having the windows app! Now I can dedicate one of three monitors to it and experience DevRant in all its full screen glory! Good work guys!
-
Anyone who uses Vim as code editor?
I recently learned Vim and the more I explore it, the more I love it.
Is it really helpful to go through the pain of learning those shortcut keys in the long run?1 -
The thing I love about Python is that it has no fricking pointers!!!
I hate pointers and getting a language that doesn't use them
win-win for me!11 -
I have a function that receives 2 parameters: a string and a max numer of characters.
It returns an array with the partitioned string.
Example:
function name("hi, I love devRant", 10);
//return:
array(2){
[0] ->"hi, I love"
[1] ->" devRant"
}
Now.... what would be the appropriate name for that function?10 -
Sometimes I think the relational model is a disservice to humanity.
Sometimes I love it.
But mostly I hate it.1 -
Hah. I was cleaning my screenshot folder and saw the bitbucket dying one night. It was after midnight and was in 'the zone'.
But still i love them :)1 -
I am currently typing this on my windows machine using the workman keymap (I love it).
I am mostly writing in german (still a student) and therefore need the characters "äöüß" quite often.
There comes AutoHotKey into play where I can set e.g. alt+a to ä. works like a charm.
Now I would really love to switch to linux (in fact I have already done so) but as I could not find a suitable alternative to AHK I am stuck without äöüß. Writing is such a pain, My poor professors that have to read the texts I produce on my Linux machine
gotta love it6 -
AWS... I love ya, but seriously, what the fuck. Why is it that when I script to write a file to /tmp, you choose some other location...
Where the hell did the file go?!3 -

Having a day where everything hits the fan but I'm on top of it all.
I really do love this line of work 😊 -
Don't you love it when somebody commits the removal of unnecessary files and gets it merged to master but doesn't test beforehand??1
-
Gotta love it when the problem you have with an unfamiliar OSS project is so easy to fix that you can do it yourself
-
Any other fans of Espresso for macOS? Love the app, hate how the developer abandons and then rewrites it on a 3-year cycle 😄
-
A tangible result to my code gives me so much satisfaction - this and probl solving is probably the reason I love it so much
