What I really like about all these growing startups/platforms like airbnb, netflix etc, is that they open source their cool technologies so that anybody can use them. If you look through their github repos, you can find a lot of cool and interesting stuff and especially it's mostly already battle tested and it works.

Imo this is some really big contribution in turn to the money they make :)

Why is every company so BAD at working with spaces in passwords? Just trying to setup Hulu on my PS4, apparently I forgot my password? No, my password had a space in it. So maybe Hulu's just one of those companies that doesn't allow spaces in passwords? Wait no, I can log in with no problems on my Switch or PC with the space. It's just SPECIFICALLY the PS4 app that doesn't allow spaces. Cool cool cool.

Like, am I missing something? Is there some reason it's harder to hash than other characters? It's just an ASCII character, it's not like I'm copy/pasting in some fringe unicode shit. Some companies straight up ban it. Some like Amazon don't recognize it as a special character, while demanding I use a special character. Why is this so terrible?

I have an itil exam tomorrow and every time I start reading I get angry because all I can think of is that there was someone who thought it would be cool to create an abnormal amount of management services and also created his own cool hipster abbreviations to make things even more complicated.

The new devRant avatar feature is so cool and there are so many ideas for customization being posted. Maybe at some point our dev community can build and submit custom devRant avatar objects according to devRant specs. I might even try to build a Bernoulli box 😀
Thoughts?

I think it'd be cool if we put together ctf events, so people could learn bash, PowerShell, etc., by solving puzzles. It'd be a nice collaboration, and people can learn at the same time.

So we started using Jenkins at work. Which is pretty cool so i wanted to watch some YouTube videos about it in my spare time.
But 99% of those videos are made by Indians and they are probably good videos but i just can't handle the accent. =/

I really fucked up thinking I had all the time in the world.
I also wrote very shitty code but I know that would've been hard to avoid, so it's cool.

OK so encrypted my system drive during install. So far so cool. It also prompts me to enter the password before loading the OS. However if I misstype it it kicks me in grub rescue mode instead of asking me to reenter it. Wtf D: Can I change this?

This last week I have been so excited about Artemis going around the moon. This is the kind of stuff that people need. Stop bickering about bullshit. There is a universe to explore!

I saw parts of the flyby today and it was really really cool. I hope NASA is getting incredible data from this. I cannot wait until we send people there again. Probably better to use robots, but going there in person is cool.
