Alice: Uhm... Bob? I lost my SSH key...
Bob: *facepalms*

Team Lead: Anyone has any concern on their tasks? I'll see what I can do to help.

What I did wrong during my home office cleaning session this morning:
- put soap on my mouse mat
- snapped my enter key
- vacuumed up my F8 key
- absent-mindedly cut my ethernet cable
- lost my zero key
- dropped my backup hard drive (data was recoverable, but I need a new drive)
- lost one of the nose pads on my glasses
- got a cocktail stick stuck in a USB port
- exploded my mouse by using the wrong type of battery
Things I did good:
- nothing11 -
My team was sharing an API key to our company's microservice containing all our customer data.
I say "was" because one team member accidentally published the key online so the security team disabled our key and won't give us a new one.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry4 -
Full stack web dev has no idea what an ssh key is. He is telling me that he can't read the key file, it would be kind of me if I could send him a .txt file instead.

Cool thing Zomato.. Now we know what the primary key in your database is..
You are saying if I want to update my email, I will have to let go of my subscription which I recently got?? Great piece of technology you have there..1 -
Came across: https://krypt.co sounds interesting, because its like an additional 2fa for your ssh key, is locally encrypted, open source, well documented and transparent:

The keycap of the control key of my keyboard just popped of and fell under the table.

it's not even that funny but we couldn't pull ourselfs together xD5 -

Once a month I get a crash for the stupid PHP site I am in charge of because the guy who made the database made the primary key of a table a varchar. It is a number 99.9% of the time but the dumbass customer always enters one entry with a string cuz the dumbass db Dev let them. I emailed the dumbass Dev telling him he is stupid and he said it is part of their philosophy. I told him I still think he is stupid so he emailed my boss.
I emailed him again telling him he is stupid.6 -

I just had the most surreal email discussion I think I've ever had...
I spent over two hours going back-and-forth over email with an enterprise DBA, trying to convince them I needed a primary key for a table. They created the table without a primary key (or any unique constraints... or indexes... but that's another discussion). I asked them to add one. Then had to justify why.
If you ever find yourself justifying why you need a primary key on a table in an RDBMS, that's the day you find yourself asking "is this real life?"
I want the last two hours of my life back. And a handful of Advil.1 -

Oh finally I figured out how to use SSH pubkeys! It's simple:
1. Generate a public key on client
2. Somehow transfer it to server
3. Put it into user's authorized_ keys files
4. Now you can login as the user whp has your key in authorized_keys1 -

Cannot believe I am paying for a course with a lecturer that doesn't even teach the students what a foreign key is, or the concept of a join table to breakdown many-to-many relationships in a database. Literally telling me "If thats how you interpreted it, it's ok to add that in, but you dont have to." In relation to adding a new entity into the ER Diagram as a join table.
It isn't up for interpretation, you are literally joining tables based on foreign keys that will create duplication and make no sense. I mean, you are teaching people who have likely never worked with DB's before... you cannot teach them this. 🤦♀️1 -

Seriously? Microsoft does not support ed25519 SSH keys in neither Azure DevOps nor the actual Azure Virtual Machines? Like seriously? No there has to be a joke. There just ain't no way

Did you know they tell you that "Your SSH key is invalid"?

Why the client hates the Chain of Trust ?

DO NOT EXPORT GPG KEYS _TEMPORARILY_ AND ASSUME THAT THEY'LL BE IN THE ORIGINAL LOCATION AFTER EXPORT!
I learnt this lesson the hard way.
I had to use a GPG key from my personal keyring on a different machine ( that I control ). This was a temporary one-time operation so I thought I might be a smart-ass and do the decryption on the fly.
So, the idiotic me directly piped the output : `gpg --export-secret-key | scp ...`. Very cool ( at the time ). Everything worked as expected. I was happy. I went to bed.
In the morning, I had to use the same key on the original machine for the normal purpose I'd use it for and guess what greeted me? - *No secret key*
*me exclaims* : What the actual f**k?!
More than half a day of researching on the internet and various trials-and-errors ( I didn't even do any work for my employer ), I finally gave up trying to retrieve / recover the lost secret key that was never written to a file.
Well, to be fair, it was imported into a temporary keyring on the second machine, but that was deleted immediately after use. Because I *thought* that the original secret key was still in my original keyring.
More idiotic was the fact that I'd been completely ignorant of the option called `--list-secret-keys` even after using GPG for many years now. My test to confirm whether the key was still in place was `--list-keys` which even now lists the user ID. Alas, now without a secret key to do anything meaningful really.

The new MacBooks look so nice. And Mojave is pretty nice, and dark theme! And the touch bar! The price is quite high but for the first time I'm actually debating getting one... Almost. But:

It's a minor hassle to type out the comment and move the mouse over to the comment button.6 -
I feel like finding a replacement key for your laptop keyboard is way harder than it needs to be. I broke my 'A' key and after going through three different websites and 20 dollars later I've settled to just replace my 'A' key with my '7' key. 😕2

The only way I can edit Puppet config files is by git. And the only way I can git pull/push/commit/etc is generating a ssh key with a private key and give my public key to my supervisor to the git server (wherever that may be).
Because I'm on Windows 10 and screwed up my installers, I completely forgot to backup my ssh keys before resetting it. FML2 -
Please look at this code, I wanna know why the $ and {} was added to the alert method to pop up the key and value of user.
what is their functionality there?
let user = {
name: "John",
age: 30
};
// loop over keys-and-values
for (let [key, value] of Object.entries(user)) {
alert(`${key}:${value}`); // name:John, then age:30

On page 19 of the ethereum yellow paper: http://gavwood.com/paper.pdf it defines the address of a wallet as: A(pr) = Β[96...255](KEC(ECDSAPUBKEY(Pr))), which is the right most 160-bits of the Keccak hash of the public key generated by the private key.
If I expose the public key to the network, do I allow people to impersonate me and sign transactions even though they don't have Tr, Ts, or Tw? My understanding is no, that without those values you can't hash the transaction.
Subsequently, this leads me to wonder if the purpose of the address (besides identifying users) to obscure the public key so that the private key is at a less risk of being reversed? Or can the public key of any address be captured?
If the public key of any address can be identified on the network or off network (without actually being the owner of that key), how do you do that? Are there any resources on how to perform this that are computationally easy?1 -
`load pubkey "/Users/karunamon/.ssh/id_rsa": invalid format`
The fuck? I've been using this keyfile for ages. And that's the private key, not the public key.
Maybe I'll try converting it to a different format.
(20 minutes of ssh-keygen command attempts)
Same error. I don't freaking get it. It works. I mean, I know my public key is..
(public key is actually completely mangled with newlines everywhere)
..yknow what, my fault, but you could have at least given me the public key filename, ya jerk.1 -
KEY GENERATION OH MY DAMANNABLE PC KEY GENERATION IN C WILL DRIVE ANYONE MORE NUTZ THAN ACTUAL NUTZZZZZZZ1

I just did *skadoosh* while executing command to run multiple docker containers with docker-compose and pressing the Enter (Return) key with my pinky finger.
Feels like real-life Kung Fu Panda trying to do a Wuxi Finger Hold.
I bet you will never forget this when you're running a command on laptop and pressing enter with pinky finger.3 -
If you edit a column in a table in SQL Developer GUI you can loose your primary key in that table, even if you didnt touch the primary key column.
How fun is that?2 -
Ok, what is Mac removing the ESC key? First they remove the headphone jack from their phone and now this? I don't even use Mac and I find the ESC key really useful.

Is there a way to recover a deleted GPG key on GitHub? My old key expired, I generated a new one and delete the old one. Now, all my old commits are unverified.5

I've been working for so long with API integrations and one part of that is security. We perform ssl key exchanges for 2-way verification and a large percent of those partners provides me with their own pkcs12 file which contains their private and public keys! What's the sense of the exchange!? I think they just implement it just to boast that they "know" how ssl works,

When you are dealing with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services, which of the following you would use to verify an email with a digital signature ?
A. The sender's public key
B. The sender's private key
C. Your public key
D. Your private key
E. What are you talking about ?
F. None of the above4 -
I just got a U2F key, and I have an extension for Firefox for it to work on that browser. When I try to set it up in my Google account it wants me to use Chrome. Now why the fuck can't they check for the functionality instead of what browser I'm using?

Hey, can someone help me test out PGP?
Just set up a key and did some keyserver uploads, not sure if this really works tho.
Just send a message encrypted with my key please. :)
Fingerprint: CAE625C962F94C67
If I did mess keyservers up, it's also here: https://privateger.me/pgp.txt20 -
I identified the need for a product akin to an ORM that maps an algebraic type system such as that of Rust to a key-value database (my situation dictates lmdb but I'd like to abstract away the store). Can you recommend prior art for me to research?4

fn key is the most evil shit key from hell
no matter where you put it, there is no layout in which you don't keep hitting it instead of something else.. It's not like you need most of the F# keys anyway you can just as well have the functional keys without this abomination.. or here's one: how about making a fucking mapping hm? To inventor of fn key: "You can suck my balls!"1 -
Psst, anyone who wants to use VS Code, but likes the key bindings for X editor: VS Code lets you use the default key bindings for most editors. Just search for it on the extensions marketplace.

I try map my Capslock key to ctrl key while using vim and I search for this on stackoverflow and I found
```Linux? With X, use xmodmap to alter the key mapping, e.g.
xmodmap -e 'clear Lock' -e 'keycode 0x42 = Escape'
Will map Esc to the CapsLock key. Google for more examples.```
following command it will map Esc key to CapsLock key but when I run this command my CapsLock key did stop working and nor my esc key map to CapsLock key. How do I get back my Capslock key default working state, I mean I don't want to map Capslock key to ctrl key?7 -
when you can't generate ssh key in powershell, because the -N option (Passphrase) requires an argument.
the same works in cmd.. without error....4 -
So yesterday I got to configure a WordPress install on WPEngine. I was setting up Git and added my SSH key to the WPEngine git config for this account. And this weirdo WPEngine system fetched my same key along with same key name from another account.
Due to this I had to change my SSH key altogether and add it again.
Reason, my SSH for client X was stored with label MY-NAME-X
But the same key label should not be visible under other WPEngine accounts. And it was there - thus exposing my client X name to client Y account.
This is so annoying2 -
I'm surprised by how complex simple things could become. Alt+<key> in vim didn't work, so I copied a script from stackoverflow that makes vim poll the esc key every 50ms, if it is pressed together with another key in this period it is interpreted as Alt. My terminal sends esc+<key> instead of Alt+<key> so it works perfectly.
Anyone tried this Krypt.co thing? I just tried setting it up and I hooked up my Github and Google account with it. The odd thing during the connection, it kept asking me to add it as a Security Key. I didn't realize the Chrome Extension tricked the browser to think that it had a security key connected to it.
Why are USB passkeys so expensive? I was under the impression that you 1) create a key pair, upload the public key to your google account and 2) store the private key on an old USB drive. But nooo, then you could copy the key I guess. Good luck convincing the average Joe to spend more than $10 on a fido/yubi/whatever key...3
How much of "unique" the string that is the current epoch in milliseconds converted to base 36 ?
I know it is not universal. But require such a bad luck to have collision no ?
I am gonna use it for "transaction" primary key. (Every time a user pay, it it a new trasantion).
Uuid are very long, i need to put this pk in qr-code later
Thoughts ?24 -
Firefox developer edition flawlessly installed on my laptop, but the pc at work just tells my that the pop key is unknown
I've added the fucking key manually, just work ffs! -
So I'm building an app, donations get you a serial key. Once a month I want the app to verify the key with a server.
Recommendations for this? It's written in c++, if that matters.7 -
Every time I decide to remove/edit something in a written SQL statement in the CLI. The delete and backspace key are to close to the return key -.-4
Have to do work on a trashcan of a Mac, and instead of connecting my keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the trashcan I have both my monitors and keyboard+mouse connected to my laptop. Using VNC to remote into the trashcan, allowing me to use everything without actually switching devices.
I have already gotten used to using the WIN key mapped to the CMD key on mac, but fucking VNC has ALT mapped to the CMD key.
FFS -
Now the problem arises on how to remote control a linux machine with the i3 window manager. (With gui)
Teamviewer sends the windows key as the alt key and now no shortcuts work ...2 -
*Ctrl + a*
I'm using Fedora 25/ pre-release, and It's rock solid except for wifi hotspot and I don't need it.
Now my school gave me a Windows 10 pro key, and I'm hesitant.
Should I install it ?
Will I need it ?5 -
Rest In Peace my Hermes E2 mechanical keyboard. I have been using it for about 4 year and today the shift key on the left side of the keyboard broke.
I think the shift key is physically broken since I already try to clean the keyboard but it isn't working anymore.
The keyboard should still be workable for normal user but programming with that keyboard is a hell.
You only notice how much left shift key is important for programming when you try to program with alternative (right shift key)15 -
I tried to figure out the key stroke combination for Auto indent in WebStorm (on a Mac).
Result: The key stroke for selecting all (CMD + A) stopped working.
