Explain the movie Inception to a programmer.....
Basically, when you run a VM inside another VM, inside another VM, inside another VM…, everything runs real slow!5 -

ME: (Syntax Error): How could i watch a movie while sleeping?
GF: No, the name of the movie is "while you were sleeping"

No, I'm not hacking.
No Linux is not a movie.
No, you are not a developer because you can put "Hello World" on a website.
No, this isn't a waste of my time.
Yes, I will use it.
Yes, I'll make you a website for free. NOT!
Your phone is both Android and Samsung.
No, what they did in the movie is impossible.
No, I can't predict the stock market.

Was watching 'Johnny English Strikes Again' when I discovered a secret message in the movie.
Guys, MI7 is hiring C programmers!11 -
I am the only guy who pauses to look at the code in every hacking/coding scene either in a movie or series? Coz that shit is sometimes hilarious9

I don’t usually recommend movies to a lot of people, but if you like going to the movies, I highly, highly recommend you see “Searching”. Its wide release in the U.S. is today and it will be out internationally soon I think.
It’s probably the best thriller movie I’ve ever seen, and the best movie I’ve seen in last few years, and I see a lot of them. The tech in it is awesome, and how the movie is presented will bring back tech memories and it really is a trip down memory lane. The movie has a bit of everything. An awesome story, awesome suspense, and great use of technology and social media.
10/10, definitely see it!29 -
The worst laziest thing I've done while programming?
That's easy
- Have an Idea.
- Think about that Idea.
- Then go play some games, watch a movie...4 -
So, our clients missed their internal deadline this weekend so we as vendor were also forced to work for the weekend and implement new features in a very short period. I implemented new features and my project manager stayed to support the testing and sent me home as I already had tickets bought for the movie.
As someone who hasn't done any developing in a long long time he even tried to implement some changes and complex JavaScript dom manipulation that they asked during testing so that I could be with my gf.
Few hours later he called me and with a sad voice said he is simply too slow and needs my help after all . I came and we stayed until 00h and solved everything. He paid for the movie and taxi.
The thing that impressed me was that he was willing to took over my job so that I wouldn't break my deal.
Best project manager ever!
P.S. Yes my gf went alone at the movie and yes we are still together xD4 -
Get ready for one of the biggest AMAZON rants EVER.
I dislike this company so much I can feel it in my bones.
They have NO, absolutely NO idea how user experience works.
PROBLEM #1.
If you have Amazon Prime / Video (ANOTHER FUCKED UP PROBLEM THAT CONFUSES A LOT OF PEOPLE) and you want to watch a movie on your Xbox using the Amazon App, You have to buy the movie ON YOUR COMPUTER FIRST, YOU CAN’T BUY IT DIRECTLY FROM THE APP.
WHAT THE SHIT AMAZON?
So.. go to your laptop, buy the movie, go back to your other device (Xbox or whatever), click “My movie library” and then you can watch it.
OH AND THERE’S ALSO A “MY WATCHLIST”, WHERE YOUR NEW PURCHASED / RENTED MOVIE DOES NOT SHOW UP.
Yes.. there is a “MY WATCHLIST” and “My movie library” or some shit.
HOW, WHY, WHY FUCKING AMAZON, WHY.
PROBLEM #2.
“WE HAVE A ZILLION ALEXA SKILLS NOW !!!1!!!!!11111! EINZ!!!!!”
Yeah, WELL, NOT THAT HARD WHEN YOU HAVE “Alexa Evangelist” traveling to every DAMN tech convention and having them make USELESS FUCKING SKILLS THAT NOBODY WANTS USING BOILER PLATE CRAP THAT ANYBODY CAN USE.
Oh and Alexa is DUMB AS SHIT.
I asked her "Play the song Starboy by the Weeknd" and she said: "I CAN'T FIND THAT SONG"
Then you go "Play me Starboy" and she goes: "HERE IS A SAMPLE OF STARBOY BY THE WEEKND"
Same with other songs: "YOU DONT HAVE IT IN YOUR PRIME MUSIC LIBRARY".
She doesn't even TRY to go to your fucking Spotify account, you have say: "Play Starboy by The Weeknd on Spotify" AND THEN she still has the FUCKING NERVES to say : "I Can't find that song on Spotify".
BUT YOU JUST FOUND IT ON YOUR OWN DAMN CRAPPY PRIME MUSIC.
"Hey Alexa, how many days till the end of the year?"
GUESS WHAT ,SHE CAN'T TELL YOU. (maybe now but not 2 months ago)
PROBLEM #3.
AUDIBLE.COM and AUDIBLE.CO.UK have DIFFERENT FUCKING DATABASES, THUS, YOU CAN END UP HAVING 2 ACCOUNTS AND HAVING 2 LIBRARIES, and.. THERE IS NO WAY TO FUSE THEM INTO 1 account.
OH MY GOD, HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?
I FUCKING HATE that, how can ANYBODY think that is a GOOD IDEA?
PROBLEM #4.
Their website is a TOTAL FUCKING mess, really, who the FUCK designs that piece of SHIT.
Look up a movie, let’s say “SCHOOL OF ROCK”
First result?
“School Of Rock” - “Amazon Video”
So you can click on this and watch the movie.
Then click the second result.
“School of Rock Blu RAY” and next to the price-tag “PRIME”
You click on it, you can buy it, but HEY, LOOK, WHAT DOES IT SAY?
“Unlimited Streaming with Amazon Prime
Start your 30-day free trial to stream thousands of movies & TV shows included with Prime. Start your free trial”
WHAT, WHAT!!!! CAN I WATCH THIS WITH AMAZON PRIME? OR DO I NEED THE AMAZON VIDEO? I DON’T GET IT.
Put me in a room with all those FUCKWIT project managers and their fucked up company culture and I’ll rip them a new one, I can go on for DAYS about the SHIT they are doing.15 -
I'd love to watch a movie where a hacker is trying to infiltrate a system and instead of getting in after 15 seconds they spend the entire feature film swearing at the monitor and smashing their head on the keyboard.6
-
Fuck these movie people:
You run "sudo apt-get update.." and you say we've got the signal. Your f*cking signal! Am sure someone even typed the password for you. I update my system every 5 minutes I have got no signal. F*ck you again. I'm not watching the movie again. P*ssing me off.6 -

Friend from other team: Yeah, sure!
*in cinema*
Friend: WTF! Why is this I.T? This is scary as fuck!
Me: I-T? It's "it". HAHAHAHA It's a remake of the It 1990 movie.
Friend: I don't know anything about that. I'm scared as hell! I thought this would be some tech stuff and crying in the server room or something!7 -
Was programming on the privacy site REST api.
Needed a break and started searching for a good movie or documentary.
Found a documentary about big data/mass surveillance.
I now have loads of motivation for programming on this again as this showed me the importance of secure services/software.20 -
The magical solution to everything.
It reminds me of the time when we were watching The Great Gatsby movie in honors English class. The the projector wouldn't work.
As a joke, one kid said, "try turning it off and turning it back on."
The whole class roared with laughter, until it actually worked. They stared at it in silence.3 -

Me: *walks into meeting with other co-workers
Host: So what should we discuss today?
Co-worker 1: We can discuss how we did on the recently completed project.
Host: We'll save that for next meeting.
Co-worker 2: Any strategic plans for upcoming project?
Host: That too, for next meeting.
Me: Black Panther.
Host: That was actually a great movie. I saw it over the weekend. Who else saw it? ....
Me (in my thoughts): Just wow! 😂
PS: I still haven't seen that movie.2 -

Today I told my lead developer that I liked star wars episode 8.
I got grilled pretty hard.
Like, I can drop a db and the motherfucker ain't gon give a fuck. But God forbid a mofocka likes episode 8.
That is a big no no to him.
Manager had told me that I should keep that opinion of the movie to myself.
Lesson learned.13 -
Office prank time! It was some years ago when the horror movie "The Grudge" came out, with that creepy Japanese dead girl who made that horrible "aaahhhhhh" sound. A coworker, who was just as shocked by the movie as I was, would occasionally send me emails with sceenshots from that movie.
One day, I upped it. I knew he was the first in the office in the morning, so I arrived even before him. It was still dark. I put a walkie-talkie under his desk, set it to "no beep", switched off the lights again and hid two rooms away.
Sure enough, he arrived. I waited for about 10 minutes to be sure he was sitting at his desk. Then I used my walkie-talkie and "aahhhhh".
WOAH, his scream was loud even two rooms away!3 -
Have you seen that movie Up? The one with the dog that's easily distracted? Yea I'm that dog.

The music I hear while coding can describe my current mood:
Dubstep and other electronic music -> chilled and focused
Movie soundtracks -> everything I do today is working fine
Anime Openings/JPop -> in desperate need for motivation
Metal -> why is that son of a code not working?!
What kind of music do you listen to while coding?17 -
Me: *Demoed my search API which supports multiple database implementations at the backend*
My Manager: Great!! Is the API independent of DB? Can you plug this API to any DB?
Me: Yes
My Manager: How can user specific DB at runtime?
Me: Why will user be interested in the DB used at the backend? He will just query the API for data.
My Manager: Let's just assume he wants to select a database at runtime.
Me: While searching a movie on Netflix, do you specific from which DB you wanna stream the movie?
My Manager: *Confused and pissed*7 -
I was watching this movie's trailer called Let's Be Evil, it did look promising based on the genre (Sci-Fi, Thriller, Horror) and synopsis (includes Augmented Reality (AR) tech) BUT as I soon was on this frame right here, I am not going to watch the movie now. 😂
You are making a high tech movie, at least do intend to add some realistic code snippets or scripts related to AR rather than showing some random plain HTML.
You can watch the trailer here : https://youtu.be/Nsbzf3bL4Qg
Code will appear around 0:156 -
The world of storage gonna change..
Yesterday, scientists successfully stored and retrieved back an entire OS, a movie and some other files from a DNA.
It is estimated that a single gram of DNA can store 215 million GB of data. ( Now the storage can be as small as invisible. )10 -
Just watched The imitation game, the movie about Alan Turing. Really doesn’t help me to keep faith in humanity when you see that the guy who helped win WWII, saved about 14 million lifes AND is at the origin of all computers has been pushed to suicide because he was gay.
On those sad words, if you’ll excuse me, I now have to code an enigma machine, a Turing machine and then try to code something to break the enigma.7 -

Your most paranoic internet experience?
Several years ago, I was going to watch my first porn movie, and I was so afraid of the porn page publishing on my facebook "Elizadeath liked Xporn.net" or something like that (I had family on my facebook friends) so I:
1.- Used an old tablet (even its screen was crashed)
2.- Removed all email accounts (it has Android)
3.- Uninstalled all the social media apps, including youtube
4.- Put a piece of tape on the frontal camera
5.- Bought new headphones
6.- Navigated at the Android's default browser instead of Chrome, and in "secret" mode
7.- Deleted the cache and history after watching the movie XD
What's your experience?23 -
My first learned programming language is Pascal. Really enjoy the feeling of using the blue Editor to code. Just like the hacker described in those movie. This is a somewhat old story. I joined a project in making a 2.5d platformer in Unity. A couple months in, the project manager had decided that this game would have two sequels, an MMORPG, a live-action movie and a web series. He informed the whole team of this decision. One week later, every member of the dev team had left. This scope crept forth from the depths of hell and ruined a simple project. Lesson learned: Keep the scope small and don't bite over more than you can chew.
Edit: I know that you should dream big, but don't make 4 games, a web series and a movie simultaneously.3 -

Just finished watching the Black Box [worth it!].
I've noticed a few scenes related to IT&Dev. I thought I'll share them here.
So the BlackBox system runs on Fedora 32 with what was the Mainline kernel at that time - 5.76.20. And some HTTP webserver (nginx) for some reason... go figure!
And for some reason, the Black Box keeps making requests to https://www.rescuetime.com . IDK why nor how it's related, but it's there.
And it's got quemu installed (there is a virbr0 bridge and vnet0 listed).4 -
Just deployed my first big project!
Build on React using Redux and HTML / CSS (captain obvious).
The website is called https://2dor3d.com
It allows movie fans to vote Yes or No 3D after seeing the film in 3D.
On the other hand, it allows movie goers to check the current score and see if that extra 3D cash is worth it!
Maybe not, if it has a low score better buy the 2D ticket.
I would love it if you guys could check it out and hopefully start using it!
I'm super proud.

Had a miserable evening yesterday. Me and my gf planned going out around 9pm to this movie with 2 other couples. Movie was kinda okay and we finished around midnight and went over to our apartment for drinks. We had lots of snacks and drinks ready, other couples brought some drinks.
Evening was kinda weird, guests were mainly just ranting about their work and household life and 2 hours in they started asking each other wether they should go home. In the end they left around 3am. I felt kinda defeated: some effort went into planning everything, and in the end I didnt feel much of a connection to them.
Maybe everyone was tired after a workday + late movie + drinks after the movie. But idk I expected more from people in late 20s. When planning we had two options: meeting on saturday or friday and they chose friday.
Anyways I guess either we are getting older or we just need to meet less often and more early in order not to run out of energy and stuff to talk about.7 -

Fuck apple for making it as hard as fuck to sign in to my fucking apple id. Because my ex wife was my "trusted" number, I couldn't get an authentication code. Tech support told me it would take 3 days to reset my password.
After 3 hours of fucking around, I finally was able to reset my password.
I've been trying to get my kids to watch stupid Indiana Jones for years. They finally agreed. After going through 3 hours of BS so I could buy the movie, we start watching it. Literally, as the boulder is rolling down toward Dr. Jones, the movie stops suddenly so that Apple can verify my purchase!
Then, it asks me to buy it again!4 -
Today on forgotten movies – Chronicle.
A very grim, very dark movie about accidental superpowers discovery, but with some school-shooter vibes.
Don't you find it predictable how in regular movies a hero saves the world against all odds in the very last moment? Well, forget about it here – this movie is not "cinematic" at all, and that's what I like about it.
A horror in regular movies doesn't usually scare because the image itself is too perfect – you don't usually see the world like this. It doesn't seem real, that's the problem. By adopting the "found footage" screen language, Chronicle delivers the horror perfectly, because the world in it seems perfectly real, just like you see it through obscure youtube videos named MOV_0115 or IMG1014.
I like it that the characters actually look like real people, not like stereotypical superheroes and not even like enhanced versions of people that try to sell you an idea of what "success" looks like.
People in the movie also act real. They're weak, they're scared, they're irrational, and you really start to believe that yeah, this is what probably gonna happen when a human faces something as unbearable as superpowers discovery. And, as weird as it sounds, the superpower itself also looks totally real – raw, unpolished, uncontrollable force that requires getting used to and probably is too much for a regular human. Definitely not a perfect, tailored thing that turns anyone into Mary Sue.
Overall, this movie is the most immersive one I've ever seen. If you want to see what would really happen if you discover a superpower, this movie is for you.4 -

I am curious whether facebook IS listening to conversations or not.
Living with my girlfriend in a small appartment, yesterday we were talking about some shitty game we both played around 10 years ago, I was wondering whether the game still exists and googled on my phone (via LTE, not wifi) - yeah the game is still online and still the same shit.
Today she saw facebook sponsored ads to this game on HER facebook.
Today we watched a movie (Valerian and the thousands planets) - and there was this ship which looked similar to Millenium Falcon. I noted that in the midtime. After the movie - guess what - opened the facebook abd there was a sponsored ad to buy Millenium Falcon miniature or lego figure.
How? Randomized events? I do not think so. This was not the first time it happened.
Note: we are not native english speakers, maybe "millenium falcon" could be the only catch fb could achieve?16 -
So my teacher wanted to play a movie cos the class got good test results, and so she asked me how to play a movie on her laptop and get it on the TV and this is how it went down...

Teacher: So I want to play a movie tomorrow but I don't know how to get it up on the TV

Teacher: Hey Sukhi, heres the HDMI cable. *Pulls out a AUX cord*

My 17 year old cousin got inspired by Hollywood movie and said he wanted to be an Hacker. Now, who can explain him the shit that's shown on the silver screen isn't practical in real life. The life of programmers, hackers is rather about learning continuously throught their life rather than hacking into a quantum computer through a gaming console.

I'm watching tv with my parents. We're watching home alone and they're laughing their asses off from the movie they watched twenty times. This is one of the cringiest moments of my life. Wish I could attach an audio recording11

Although the screen is blurry, that just Windows doing what it does best... BSOD, you gotta love movie theater bluescreens.2

Watched an action hack movie
Then designed a scenario to sniff around a bank and get the encrypted key and finally extract the key and omg!
I've broke into the bank !!!
But seriously, is it worth trying?
I'm not going to do any thing stupid like even taking a dollar , but is it just the way I thought it is?
Will anything unexpected happen?16 -
Gotta love (video game) soundtracks for programming. They are most often instrumental which distracts the brain not so much from the task but make it easier (at least for me) to get in the zone. Especially with noise-cancelling headphones.
My favorite is all things Metroid, like that one:
https://youtube.com/watch/...
(and of course the Harmony of a Hunter albums).
What is your favorite (game or movie) soundtrack for programming?7 -
I would love to make some movie called "The creation of my code", I bet this will be more scary than "The annabelle creation".

my job is to build to spec and get things working

It took me way to long to realize that the kids name is Paige and the place is their new house. I hate it when that happens.1 -
Been watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy since yesterday for the third time in my life. I shed a tear at the end. That movie is as good today as it was 15 years ago. Awesome.
Now, to make this post relevant, im going to close VLC media player, open Android Studio and go on a Kotlin (which is becoming more and more like Gandalf the White) journey2 -
Just watched Avatar 2 in 3D 4DX. This is hands down the movie of the year. Might as well be the movie of all movies. 3 hours of watching and going through emotional rollercoaster and havent been bored. It keeps attention. It was so beautiful. The scenes the scenario the plot the CGI. Everything. I can't believe someone made this. I dont understand how this is possible to be made. How can i come back to this reality now? It felt like i was there, in the movie. A beautiful alien world with magic, life with actual meaning, nature, the wonders of universe. Life can be so much broader than our reality. I know it's just a movie and that reality doesn't really exist. But anything you can imagine or visualize means it can exist. Somewhere out there in this infinitely large universe. Out there in some galaxy light years away or ago. This movie is a brutal masterpiece. This is art. It reminds me to be thankful for what i have. Grateful for who i have. And gave me more reason to withstand the darkest days. Because if i work hard and succeed i might end up in a universe like Avatar. At one point in time as a life form. Somewhere... more meaningful than working like a slave and paying taxes to pedophiles and criminals in our current reality. Beautiful.8

I saw this movie today where an antisocial guy just wanted to be left alone. When this didn't work he produced a scheme to change his environment to his liking using many cool inventions.
He seemed like your average developer but about one hour into the movie I saw something that only happens in movies.
He actually met the deadline of stealing all presents by dec 25 morning, I mean... No deadline extensions!1 -
I wanted to watch a movie with a far away friend. Stayed away from screensharing and used rabb.it (they spawn firefox in a container/vm and stream it to viewers). The movie i wanted wasn't in the list, so i navigated firefox to youtube. The video was blocked whereever firefox runs -.-
Got creative, pasted the youtube-link onto a download-site and opened the download-video-link in firefox. Firefox attempted to open the video -.-
I tried to create a minimal webpage with the video in about:blank and the devtools-console. Firefox was configured for american keyboard layout, in the end i had to copy-paste everything with non-alphanum-characters in it.
Shortly after the youtube-video was loaded and ready to be watched, i felt like god if he ever were to use a pc. Then i got the message "my roommates made me go out with them tonight" -.- With the knowledge that both of us wont spend the evening as planned all my accomplishments seemed to perish.2 -

- Modern Talking and Bad Boys Blue started making music7 -

That was awesome. I also loved the "Parasite" manga and anime reference. Plus, they made the labours and weapons of the aliens look like those from the game "Prototype" 1 and 2.
Would really watch the future movies of Venom and recommend everyone who did not watch this movie to watch it. It is a masterpiece.4 -

The webpage for (basically) the only movie theater chain is slow. The app, goddamn, is worse.
So I made an app to scrape the data and save it in a SQLite db for my use. However, there is one theater which doesn't belong to the same company. So I decided to also include it in the app.
But it sucks! I still have to find a way to automatically get the data from their shitty site.6 -

is it just me or are others also noticing that our society is getting similar to the one seen in Idiocracy [the movie]?
I mean... I'd understand one or two dumb things: people do it, realize how stupid it is and move on. But now it's more like the other way around: people do something smart, realize it, undo it and move on.
Has anyone else seen Idiocracy?20 -

2023 After a big working day ! I just want to relax with an easy movie to watch
The movie
- Political
- overpower woman that spite on man
- the message
- remake, spin off
- predictable as fuck story line
- actors that have no fucking emotions
- plots twist predictable
- predictable boring scary jump
- watch it on netflix, disney+, Amazon prime, HBO, Crave, Helix, Tou.tv for only 25$ a month
- CGI are fucking ugly shit
- story incoherence
- movie are always politicly correct
- i see the camera man in the cars window is fucking obvious
- people working in movie are poor as fuck because shit actors want lot's and lot's of money
- lot of movie are make for the branding not the movie itself
- you notifications are more interesting than the movie itself
- you want to go to the theater... 99$ popcorn and M&M bag of 20 pieces
- kids want to listen something else
- woman want help with the dishes at 10 PM
- no more beer or chips
You know what ? I think i will go feed some duck 🦆 at the park next time7 -
Just watched Zombieland 2 in the cinema and the dumb blonde girl in the movie was so fucking sweet and adorable and NOT TO EVEN MENTION HOW HOT SHE WAS, but i fucking fell in love with her PERSONALITY, i know its an act but i also know there are people who exist with that personality, this is very weird to me because i fall in love by the looks, rarely by the behavior but i this time i love her because of her personality lol what the fuck is this
I didnt know it was possible to fall in love with someones personality like i dont even have the urge to fuck her just to love her for personality lmao
Aight im talking about this like we are exclusive but it was just a dumb but chill movie9 -
My dream project is a heavily story-driven game, with plenty of decision-making for the player and a lot of possible endings. With no money or time limits, I would make it with live action scenes. Just a great movie in which you have the final cut.

I just remembered I have a list of funny things I want to put in a tech movie. Just thought of new one today:
Programmer trying to do IT work and cannot locate the person they are trying to help:
I have a specialized set up skills. I will find you, and I will fix your printer.
The character would be a programmer and have a PHD. Printer Help Desk certificate.4 -
The main difference between chrome and Safari is an ideological one. When I'm about to watch a movie and have my all dark themed screen at full brightness, chrome can blink a white screen right in my eyes as it was loading its stupid start page.
Safari doesn't do that. That's the difference that matters to me.2 -
One evening I put on my Quest2 and have some fun with the Climb2. I fell off the cliff a few times. Next morning my 5yo wakes up with shitty mood and tells me he had a dream how he was on a hill and fell off. It wasva bad dream.
A few days later I was watching The Troll on Netflix. I like this king of genre so I was enjoying it. Next morning my kiddo wakes up all excited with 'daddy daddy, I've had a dream of a mountain!'. 'Did you fall off this one too' - I rush to ask. He says: 'no, but the mountain stood up and it was like a man!'
he's been asleep both times. I was with my headphones during the movie and on 1bar of volume during the climb. He's never seen neither the game nor the movie [or any troll, for that matter]. And I'm not making this up.
How... How the hell did he do that. Do we after all float in some wibbly-wobbly ether we can communicate through?4 -
Does anyone watch the movie The Mack (1973)?

i was reading a book in the week. fell in love with it.
now im watching the movie of it. it's horrible.
i knew i didnt want to see it.. i knew it was going to suck
ive seen the book completly different in my eyes. am almost crying about it. the movie does not give any emotions at all ~ other than disapointement. it ruins my experience with the book to some extend now. it changes how my pictures that i imagined are.
the movie actors are bland. the setting and writing feels of and cheep. the scenes of the book are rushed in 1.50h. that book in a movie should have been atleast 3h. i feel betrayed by whoever made the movie.
sucks that i have to see it to create a movie - book comparison. im forcing myself through watching it to the end
the major point of the book that made it so good was the setting with nature. in the movie no details and focus on this are given at all.
it feels disrespectful to the author of the book and honestly to myself aswell :(8 -

Remember when we were talking about studios turning movies into shit?
Well this is the trailer they put out for the Minecraft movie:
https://youtube.com/watch/...
The reception has been terrible. I saw what the down votes were and they were over 7 million at the time. It is ratioed hard.
Then someone used the same audio and made what I feel like it should have looked:
https://youtube.com/watch/...
The audio works very well with this animated version. Someone made this animated version of the trailer in a MONTH! Holy shit!
Now I see this version of what they thought it should be like and I am dying:
https://youtube.com/watch/...
I just don't see how movie studios can be this bad. The fans made something more compelling in less than a month. I don't see the official Minecraft movie to be anything other than a torrent if your bored movie. It is not worth paying money.3 -

I am at a friends place and I think I searched for at least 30 different Films or Series already and not a single one was on either of those and on Amazon you'll often have to pay extra for a movie. You know how each generation is taught more and more advanced stuff? My grandparents didn't have a clue about the the things my parents were learning at school. My parents could only catch up with my school course until like 7-8 class. Considering this trend we should have no idea about half the things our kids will be learning in higher classes.
However, since AI is taking its pace, schools are adapting and starting to use it for teaching, workplaces are leveraging it to rely on employees' brainpower and skill less and less,... I wonder if we won't see a downtrend. I wonder if we won't be the smartest generation who managed to ingest so much knowledge, and all the generations to come will only focus on mastering prompt engineering.
I wonder, how long will we survive with this dumbed down society... As the primal instinct is to overcome your opponent with greater force, possibly destroying it and everything around. And less educated tend to rely on primal instincts more.
I wonder if I'll live long enough to see Idiocracy [the movie] manifest in real life.
I know I refer to Idiocracy movie more often than anyone refers any other movie here. But it just hits too close to home too often. It might look like a silly something to spend time staring at, but man.. It's got one hell of a point3 -
A few years ago, we were developing a media application that allows playing DRM protected content in various business rules. One was that a movie is only playable after watching an ad; the weird one is that an *ad* is playable only after watching a movie.

Funny thing I like to do sometimes that I learned from the movie called Office Space:
Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. -
So last year in school, we did a project where we had to program a movie collection. So obviously we wrote "cat" a lot, for category.
So late one day, we just named a few variables "dogs" for the hell, then we'd change it back later... We forgot.
Realized it later when we had handed it in, and were defending it at the verbal exam 😂 -

On the one hand, as an avid programmer having a non-programmer partner, we (I) once wanted to mod some Gameboy Pokémon games (Crystal), but the games were written in Assembly and I was definitely not getting myself into that. My partner was rather sad, as this was quite a big project for the both of us, but it was never finished, and it was still complicated to explain to him why Assembly is such a bitch. Nevertheless, we found other projects to have fun with (simplest of them: random movie picker that chooses a movie based on title/genre/etc. from our own movie list file).
On the other hand, explaining and making programming exciting for people who are not into it, so you still seem like an interesting person for new dates (poly relationship), is really hard. But I would also blame my introverted self and not only programming for unsuccessful dating :D -

Saw a movie related to Data Security and Data privacy. The movie ended 1 hour ago and i am now terrified how my data is going to end up somewhere where it can be misused .Frantically removed all app permissions from my mobile. Wonder how many days it will last. But now after hearing such gory details , i wonder how i can keep my interests safe in this world. I am now even afraid to give my laptop for changing its battery.. How will technologies like blockchain affect this ? Will it make it worse or is it trying to make it better..?11 -

based on my previous rant about dataset I downloaded
https://devrant.com/rants/9870922/...
I filtered data from single language and removed duplicates.
The first problem I spotted are advertisements and kudos at movie start and at end in the subtitles.
The second is that some text files with subtitles don’t have extensions.
However I managed to extract text files with subtitles and it turned out there is only 2.8gb of data in my native language.
I postponed model training for now as it will be long, painful process and will try to get some nice results faster by leveraging different approach.
I figured out I can try to load this data to vector database and see if I can query it with text fragment. 2.8gb will easily fit into ram so queries should be fast.
Output I want is time of this text fragment, movie name and couple lines before and after.
It will be faster and simpler test to find out if dataset is ok.
Will try to make it this week as I don’t have much todo besides sending CVs and talking with people.2 -
First internship ended today, a nice experience and I definitely learned a lot. It’s bittersweet for all the interns to part ways, but watching a movie and having dinner was a nice way to wrap things up. Now it’s back to school...3

Idea for the next Tron movie:
There's a cowboy bartender called OData, "Yippe yay Oh Data", serving the best tailored drinks in the whole Wild Web.
That's what I hear when I read "Oh Data!"1 -
An idea on how to build a server based on gpu? Yeah like the movie? We need to build the whole machine it would be impossible to swap a CPU by a GPU in the actual architecture.. just a thought.. however the problem I would have for making a home server is not even the hardware or the electricity bill, but my unstable internet connection..3

So... what music/media/sound do you listen to while programming?
I switch between video game OSTs (Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, KH2), movie scores (The Social Network, Pride and Prejudice, and misc. stations), classical piano music, and hip hop. Sometimes I throw on Netflix on a series or movie I've already seen countless times.10 -
[SPOILER]
I just watched Black Mirror: Bandersnatch the movie with chromecast, I didn't know what was going on until the movie told me, then I switched to the laptoprant i was suspicious from the beginning shame on me i'm a monster i killed all of them i feel stupid4 -
Can we mix cocktails (of course not with soda) and keep them in the fridge? Just like how we compile libraries for future use. I'm too lazy (read Aussie) to mix cocktails in the evening while watching a movie or playing Ace Combat 74

So, the first like seven minutes of the movie Goonies is an ad placement for the Jeep Cherokee and nobody talks about it.1

I started thinking on how ML can help in hacking but before that I got another doubt on how you can be a effective hacker and started looking into all ways of being a hacker but later convinced myself that hacking is not just a tuxedo jacket to wear it's more of you watching duncrick movie multiple times and understanding what exactly the movie all about so any leads for resources to cultivate that mind set of being a hacker and any links/material to follow and practise would be of great help1

According to my previous rant

I watched the movie again, it’s form 1986 and they have car with something that looks like lidar on the roof so 34 years later we have autonomous cars with lidar and we call it innovation. That was so fast.3 -

Because why even try when you can ask your nephew to do it for you?3 -
If I was to create a movie in which there should be a scene with a hacker in front of his computer, I'd never hire professional designers and animators to create fancy videos that can be played back on the computer said hacker is working on. Instead, I'd just run make on the Linux kernel, unplug the keyboard and let the actor hit it as fast as he can. Should look professional enough.1

If all of that movie is really being done automatically via the photos app, then you know what I take back what I said about Apple losing its mojo1

Sitting here doing some programming and watching Sneakers, one of the movies that really made me want to learn more about computers. Just wish my career was more exciting like in the movie. 😁

I've been having this idea for a programmer's horror movie. The main villain is this dev (or maybe PM?) whose first program was "Goodbye World" instead of "Hello World", thus cursing all of his code from that moment on.
They write an artificial intelligence library but they don't document it properly so the user ends up creating an evil AI that threatens to destroy the internet.
Any ideas?3 -
I’m picturing some giant over mind
A huge cluster of computers and what is actually happening to explain the theft and stupidity that makes
The world seem like the last scene
In the movie repo
Men is they’re feeding their hungry growing baby all the pilfered videos and pictures they can and the brain was designed to be a piece of garbage like them with no regard for human life
Yep
That seems about right
Something from a sci-fi horror film mixed with the plot of that movie where all the humans were inbred morons in the future4 -
Accidentally ran across a TCM movie named Vera Cruz. I was a bit shocked to see breasts naked female breasts in that movie. Of course they were Mexican breasts but what the heck I like tan.1

I just realized while looking to buy a movie on an Android phone and using prime video and get the error message that I can't buy from the app...
This is pretty much saying only Google play store is the only place you can buy anything now... Feels like Apple but...
It's pretty much a monopoly okay and anticompetitive... Feels like it could get seriously sued for this -

If you use a streaming service, do you use it mostly for ur movie or the shows?
Just finished binge watching Netflix's first month and well sorta not interested in watching more for a while...4 -
A life with no adventure and rough times is like a movie with no suspense. I'd probably doze off half the times.
I mean: no bullets in the air and Chuck Norris is not risking everything for his daughter?
Damn, just shoot me :(2 -
Fuck AIX, fuck you in your stupid face. I hope you choke on a mouse and die in computer hell.
Bonus points if you get the movie reference without google.1 -
I was supposed to be searching for jobs online but just spent the last hour ranting about technical interviews...

So I really liked the movie Blindspotting from this summer. I originally watched it because the two main characters (and writers) are two of my favorite rappers, but it's a great fucking movie.
The way they're doing the soundtrack for the movie is basically releasing multiple EPs (honestly not 100% sure how long it's gonna go on). And I just found out that the second EP got released like a month ago. I've been listening to it and I fucking love it.
So nothing really important, I'm just really hype for this right now. -
Just finished watching Aozora Yell. Anyone else seen it?
Been awhile since I've seen a movie that actually made me feel so involved in the plot and emotional.... and leaves me feeling so refreshed from the daily pessimism, chaos, and ranting.

What's the one movie/TV show that always gets you in a geeky project mood.
Like, makes you want to build, code or at least desire to create something?5 -
When you fixed p1 bug in the production and waiting for the release is like watching the conjuring movie all alone in the night. It makes you scare out of shit.

I just launched movie from some website and apple+ logo show up.
I thought yay I can watch it legally cause I’m subscribed to apple+
I opened apple tv app and I see I can’t watch it right now because it’s in cinema but I can rent it.
Lol, just launching it from website.
I’m not gonna pay twice for movie.
Corporations got no limits.
I’m waiting for someone to figure out you can make people pay to see exclusive movie trailers because we already have behind the scenes series longer then actual movies.1 -
Morning:
Aight, I'll do something fun tonight. Maybe watch a nice movie or read a book.

Just watched the movie Caveman again after about 7 years since the last time. The movie never gets old. The fun part is relearning the language of the movie again. It is funny that a lot of successful actors may have made their debut in this movie.

Question.
Yesterday, I watched movie Moneyball yet again.
One particular dialogue caught my attention and I am kind of unclear on this. Can somebody explain?
"You get on base, we win. You don't, we lose. And I hate losing, Chavy. I hate it. I hate losing more than I even wanna win. There is a difference"
What is the difference?2 -

Just a little questiom. What's the movie or TV series where you've seen a hacking scene which is probably very close to reality?6 -
I watched a movie and i forgot its name i hope if you can help find the name, the story is about a generation where a crime truth is revealed through brain, they fetch the latest event you have encountered which you have seen it's like a stored video inside the brain, the very last crime she committed was revealed from the eyes of a rat which she forgot to kill and she was caught, i believe it was a swedish or danmark movie which i watched on Netflix long time ago... anyone?9

Anyone had any experience running their own matrix server (not the movie one smartasses)? Seems like it would be a fun endeavor but i wanted to see if it was a pain in anyone's ass first.

I know liquid-nitrogen-powered air cans heat up after getting cold during use, and boil in the process, extending use time, but do they really need to make disturbing noises that sound like a clicking creature in a horror movie???

streaming media is evil because it doesn't force people to go to each others houses anymore because they have the movie you couldn't afford or didn't want to rent or buy1

just a few more months and 'from', 'loki', 'chapelwaite', 'upload' etc will be relreased to their new seasons...

TMW you're dating a nurse and between her criticism of medical procedure and your own criticism of the portrayal of technology and "hacking" you can't sit through any movie without finding it flawed.
