Brain: hey kiddo, want to stay home and work on your side project today? I'm feeling good.
Me: fuck yeah finally!
*call in sick.
*open laptop. Tabs and editors already waiting.
*play music, no sound.
*system is all laggy.
*fuck, restart.

*Installing windows updates...
*leaves for work.18 -
It's funny how a man gets something done and gets a "Good work, John!".
But, a woman gets the same thing done, and gets "Good work, team!".
#RealFuckingStory #ItHappenedToMe40 -
I got fired.
Worst job I ever had, they extended my probation period, called me "over maintenance", said my work was good but not good enough for the effort, If I take a lot of care doing my work then it's "over preparation", if not good enough then it's "not detailed enough", I don't ask enough questions? I must be unmotivated, I ask too many? I take up too much of other people's time.
Fuck them all. I hope they get a taste of their own medicine.10 -
“Yeah, the database password has to be ‘password’ or the code won’t work”

Note: I don’t actually believe this to be good advice.1 -
Finally finished all the current issues and tasks I had set out to accomplish before the holiday began.
Boss comes by - "you're doing some good work, do you have anything you're working on right now?"
"No, I actually just fin-"
"Good, I think now would be a good time for you to redesign our entire intranet."
"Haha. Yes."3 -
Interviewer: have you ever been reported for sexual misconduct at work?
Me: uh no
Interviewer: good to hear! Our last developer had wandering hands, which we don't approve of here
Me: ...6 -
*installs Ubuntu to feel good about my pathetic self by using Linux*
*suddenly realizes need to use Photoshop for UI/UX work*
*tries setting it up using PlayOnLinux but fails everytime for random reasons*
*keeps going back to Windows to work*
Feels bad, man...23 -
Items checked since entering devRant the last time:
- finished my PhD
- escaped a toxic relationship
- moved to the US for work

The end of my decade was pretty good.5 -

Jesus, this took so much work...
My university has started Swift lectures but my god their Mac minis are really crappy so I decided I would install Mac on my PC.
How can an operating system take so much fucking work to even boot!16 -
I have spent the entire night trying to debug a login function but it keeps to not work, until I discovered a typo in the username.
Good night1 -
Why the fuck do all these good fucking companies need that proven fucking 3 years of work fucking experience to join? You gotta fucking start somewhere11
-
I told a joke at work today.
It's so good that I've been called to the HR department. I assume they want to hear it too.6 -

Just finished the new voting system for the school representative of my school, tomorrow ~600 students (including me) will use it, feels good! :)
Btw, I'm 16
Also, I am working on another project if anyone wants to take a look and give me some design feedback, as I learned everything I know by myself (It's in German though, I'm from Austria)37 -
@dfox & @trogus
Just finished reading your app update and I must say that I'm very impressed with the number of changes that have come out in the past six or so weeks. Good job guys and keep up the good work!
PS an autocomplete '@' mention feature would be really helpful.1 -
127.0.0.1 sweet 127.0.0.1
I don't want to leave my bed but it's working time.
Another day of happy coding :)1 -
1) "Do you consider yourself good with Java? Most of our clients want web pages"
2) "Do you like coding for work on weekends?"
Are you serious?4 -
Languages I have used this week at work:
PHP, JS, VB6, VB.net, C#.
Im not kidding.
Time to relax with some good ol' beer 🤣8 -
One of the owners of the company I work for is teaching programming to the lady's son who cleans the office. They are poor people but with a good heart. It is so good to know that if he takes this opportunity, he could help his family in the future. This is awesome.3
-
Took me hours to set this shit up and finally everything is clean and ready for work
Thank you
Good luck💦little one💦13 -
Nothing better than your boss trusting you to work on mission critical stuff when you're a junior :) Feels good!7
-
my boss asked me a few days ago to get a website responsive, i did that in like twenny minutes and today he came to me, looked at the website and give me a pat on the schoulder "good work"
some days are good days2 -
Not meeting any good mentors. Not meeting any good colleagues. Not attending any good dev classes.
I have self taught everything. After my uni kicked out, I founded my own work and working since then. Couldn't hire any great talent that can guide me with the pay I can afford.2 -
Just got a new work laptop last week. An upgrade from a crappy consumer grade piece of shit to a proper business grade 8c/16t laptop feels good.
Also Fedora.15 -
I have to say that DevRant community is good. Read my previous posts, I have been facing office issues and mostly everyone responds positively.
Keep up the good work DevRant community!!!3 -
Holy shit why can't you just work. Stop talking about your kids from 9 am to 5pm with the orther person sitting next to you who clearly wants to get some work done.
Also, good on you for baking a cake and your kid saying this is the best cake. Every kid says that to your parent.
FFS, shut up and work, and let people around you work.
P.S. I need good headphones, preferably in ear wireless buds. I'm waiting for Pixel Buda 2.17 -
You know it's gonna be a good Friday when the dev team takes a work trip to the store to get beer.
Happy Friday everyone!2 -
Why management people thinks that a career path for any senior developer is to be a "leader" and be good in business side. Its like saying "hey you are a good programmer, let me take away that work you love to do and do stupid human resource management instead"5
-
A good quote everyone should follow:
"Find a job you like, and you will never have to work a day in your life." -
>Partners grandad gets new phone
>Partner calls me at work to tell me she's going to set it up
>I finish work
>Partner hasn't managed to set it up (2hours later)
>I go and set phone up
>Grandparents provide free pizza and beer.
Yesterday was a good day. -
"I met with a potential client today and part of their opening gambit was how they were looking for revolutionary work delivered within a tight timescale, and if the work could be done a reduced rate then they’d be able to send a load more work our way. … They were saying that they wanted work that was fast, good, and cheap. And if the work was fast, good, and cheap enough, the reward would be the offer of more work that is fast, good, and cheap. … Let me be clear about this, these people are evil, and their work is poison. " - Hoss Gifford1

Today my boss told me I work too hard. I wanted to tell her, "No I don't, your other employees just aren't that good."1

"Sudo rm -rf / "ed my build server at work today... Died of laughter when i found out there was no snapshot.
We all had a good laugh. 😂😂😂2 -
"PHP does not need good practices, because the use of PHP it is already a good practice". This is one of the loading messages in the Slack where I work.
PS: We do not use PHP there.8 -
The end is here, someone pulled the Internet plug!!!!!
Fuck, stackoverflow is affected, my dev days are over!

Good Job Fastly, making me work after hours.

Sad day when you find out you work for a company who cares more about a working product than a good product.5
-
The good part is with each update Android studio gets more and more powerful with more and more features.
The sad part work each update Android studio gets heavier and even the basic feature is a pain in the ass to work with
-One sad Android developer ;)2 -
Some have good teachers and do some good work.
The main problem for me is their false promises. There is no scarcity of junior developers. None.
Anyone can be a programmer doesn't mean that everyone can be a good one.
The first 2-3 years will be very complicated.2 -
Good boss: "Oh you're sick? don't worry about work, get some rest!"
My boss: "Oh, I was sick too last week. still managed to put a few hours of work in."
Good boss: "Look, your progress is a bit slow considering you're with us for 3 months now."
My boss: "Look, your progress is a bit slow considering you've been with us for 3 weeks now."3 -
Being bad at something that you want to be good at is the most fucking annoying thing I've ever experienced. Fuck.1
-
Now i told u have to work 44 hours in a week, after 3 mounths they will hire me if i be good enough.
Sounds scary a little🏢7 -
Work of a my co-workers good work! It's called colspan you dumb fuck! Best part is that no way I'm changing this coz I work in place where they don't give a fuck about code quality! So fuck it!6

Good job person who is not educated enough to not print a screenshot but still somehow got to work at university

Rock up at work 10:30.
"What are you doing out your wanking chariot this early?"
"Aye, was there a fire where you live or something?"
Good thing I have flexitime!1 -
Totally showing my immaturity here, but...
Sometimes it’s good to go to the bathroom at work and laugh at people’s farts. Really takes the edge off of a day full of bullshit.
This guy over at the urinal was farting for a good 10 seconds and I couldn’t stop laughing.1 -
Finally got my stickers! :D thanks DevRant, for being an awesome community. Keep up the good work!4

Sent an email to 4 people.
Got 5 out of office auto responses. WTF.
Good thing I don't have work to do 🙃3 -
i wish i could half-ass work, but instead I'm a huge nerd who does a good job and people are giving me more shit to do now4

I just hate it when a co-worker says "AS LONG AS IT WORKS. It doesn't matter how you code it as long as it outputs what the client/user wants. They don't check how you code it anyway" *facepalm*
We effin' follow standards so that it will be convenient for everybody!
Bad code is still bad code if you don't follow standards even if it works.4 -
So you remember the old, not so good days, when your app worked in all the browsers besides stupid Internet Explorer?
So I through those days were long gone, and today ticket that functionality doesn't work in Edge.
Good part of the story? Ticket number is 666.2 -
I saw a rant about overtime or staying late if your boss is still at the office.
It's the same in a(lmost all i think) Japanese Company.
9:00-18:00 work schedule.
Come in earlier than your boss before actual work schedule.
Go home after your boss after the actual work schedule.
There's no more work to be done and they think you going home early weren't doing enough work and shit.
Good think i left that company.3 -
I am a weird dev. No urge to rant really, mostly internal frustrations if any.
Today I had my first meeting with the client and it went smoothly - I showcased demo in the current state, they approved, asked a bit more about the technology and that's pretty much it...
I know, I know... I'm just starting and it's gonna change but, idk why, I think I'm in a good work environment.1 -
!dev
can you guys suggest me good TV/Anime series with few seasons or episodes so I can use my Sunday. Not in a mood for work.37 -
Do you think that "Work From Home" or "Remote Work" tends to reduce the work life boundary for the employees?
What I think is that Managers feel fine pinging employees at any time of the day. And as employees either you get good at ignoring messages or work outside the working hours.20 -
Me after a good day at work: “Hmmmm… I like it here. I can stay for at least a year”
Me after a bad day at work: “Fuck this. I should apply for jobs elsewhere. Fuck Capitalism”6 -
JIRA.
Plenty of good things happened at work this year. Then we started using jira. That "heavy" bucketfull of shit though.7 -
Fuck this, I just want to find a good company with an interesting product to work with for at least 5 years.7
-
One time i forgot that there are languages where you have to explicitly return stuff and spent a good 20 minutes debugging why
function a() { 2 }
didnt work11 -
My employer is a good person. He is very money-minded, but since he is a very good person, that's not the only thing in his mind.
I'm happy to work here ☺️3 -
You know its a good end of the work week, when you feel compelled to mention the Geneva convention in your last PR before logging off :)3
-
One good thing about taking a dump at work is that no matter how senior or junior you are, the sounds are pretty much the same.5
-
You know it's been a good day's work, when you look at the code you've written and part of u just feels like touching yourself.4
-
Bad: i got told that i need to stop playing overwatch @ work
Good: so they gave me a bunch of udemy courses1 -
Manager: Good news, company will pay for extra internet cost while we work from home.
Employee: Will the cost of electricity consumed by the laptop be reimbursed?
:|4 -
My work computer is currently so slow, I actually have a legitimate reason for browsing devRant.
Is that good or bad?2 -
So...
Paying minimum wages as become the norm in Portugal.
No matter that I have the same formation time in my area, plus experience, than a doc or engenheir everyone wants to pay minimum wages...
I'm so tempted to ask the next interviewer (usually an engineer) if his also getting minimum wage....
I'll do one year at my corrent company and will probably get out of this Europe's Ass.
Sorry for the bad typing. Working till 8 am11 -
Over the frozen river and through the woods, to work I go...because working remotely isn’t good enough for the sorry fucks I work for.1
-
I used to work with this Chinese coworker who wished himself 'Good afternoon' in Japanese everytime he ran into a wall when coding. He used to say, "Konnichiwa, Konnichiwa"!
But it's worth mentioning that he was such a good guy to work with! -
How do you teach non-technical coworkers to trust you're doing your work to the best of your ability? You know the type, they're used to having everything measured by simple numbers. Number big = good work. Number small = bad work or slacking off. The moment they run into something that doesn't work like this, their heads explode.4
-
So I've been really Ill the past few days, like litterly been in bed for two days, popping pills like there going out of fashion. I contact work and get the typical "get well soon" so I get a message today asking how I'm doing (still Ill), I said I'll be back Monday and ask if anything is urgent that needs to be done first thing. So I get a list:
Project A: Deadline Monday
Project B: final review Tuesday
Project C: Still waiting on feedback
So I ask any chance we can extend the deadlines by a day or so I have enough time to catch up even though I'm going to have to rush it as I've been off.
Answer.. nope there non negotiable.. oh
So they want basically three days work done in one day, given the fact I still might not be 100%. Jesus Christ 😂
Quick Edit, I wasn't told there were deadlines.8 -
Slack’s “Huddle” is beautiful. A game changer. It is just so easy to enter and exit a call now.
Good work, Slack!11 -
Boss : "Hey everyone is so busy/too good to work on that project but it's really complicated af and you'll be alone. Good luck ! Oh and we are ok to hire you next year after your apprenticeship, work well and without pressure !"
Me : O_o "Ok I'll do my best, shoudn't be that complicated"
Me (1 month after) : demotivated, sick of that mission, tired, algorithm not working, I wanna die I'm a parasite for that company. Thanks giving me that work to do.1 -
Many years ago, I wrote an app for a company to provision users in AD and Exchange. It disabled 10k users and no one could work. Good times.2

Last day at work this week, feeks good.
On Friday I am flying to Frankfurt to meet up with other Star Citizen fans at CitizenCon -
If you want other people to have fun at their job, tell them they did good work and give a compliment or two.
Everyone loves appreciation2 -
For me its a good night sleep and have a strict rule not to work from home/not-working-location. It will make the window of working time more focused.2
-
Me: * gets into work in a surprisingly good mood for a Monday *
Coworker: " hey so you know that shared folder that a LOT of our stuff is on as well as a LOT of stuff in the entire IT department is on? Yeah it's gone."
Me * leaves work *3 -
On today's episode an first ever
"In Your Opinion "
To be a "good " developer, do you have to code (not only for work) but as a hobby as well?6 -
Just resigned from my work at FAANG and damn it feels good.
Those golden handcuffs, damn, they are hard to get off.5 -
For the person who gets hired to work on the pile of **** I produced today, years from now:
Sorry, and good luck. 😶2 -
It's not such a good way to disconnect from work to hang out with friends, drink too much, and start coding Python in the sand of a park.1
-
I committed to some work I probably should have turned down. Great people and enjoyable work but I agreed to a good hourly rate but I have a cap of 20 hours a week. I keep putting in extra hours that I don't get paid for. I want the work to be good and don't think it can be completed in 20hrs per week. The work involves mentoring others and I just can't leave in the middle of helping them. My husband is fed up with my wimpyness. I am putting off a project we are working on together to do this work. The contract will be over in 3 months. What do I do?3
-
Prepared my first own Pathfinder Campaign over the last week. Three hours before it starts someone calls it off.
A week of work thrown in the garbage. Feels good.5 -
"Hey, this developer does some good work, I think I'll follow them to keep up... Oh, their online presence is consumed in identity politics? Damn."1
-
It’s always hard for me to get up and start coding each morning, but once I do I always feel good about the work I’m doing.1
-
Got through an entire day at work with just a "good morning" and "have a good weekend". Team was focused today - it was a good day!
-
Nightly anxiety is a new concept that I'm embracing.
On tonight's episode:
> The boss did not like my work.
> He was being nice when he said it's good work.
> I am a failure and should immediately go and get a degree in nail design and work as a minimum wage nail artist. Or hair dresser. Or even cleaning crew.
... This is fun. 😐18 -
So, after reading a post I started wondering...
Would you prefer to work in a toxic environment but have a good salary or work in a good environment for minimum wage?
I'm in the second position right now.10 -
A good friend connected me with a recruiter before I almost gave up looking for work in my industry. Good thing I didn't piss him off in college!
-
A really fun story to read. Makes me think of my own work shenanigans. Good to know Uber is just as fallible!
https://mobile.twitter.com/stantwin...1 -
Used to be if I was good enough, now it's if work is going to make me a worse person than I was when I started (passionless and not apathetic)1
-
It's always a good day at work when you can leave knowing that you were able to implement several working features.1
-
quote: companies would never be paying you enough, they would pay you the bare minimum to get the work done, so learn to negotiate until you have good options.

git stash pop'd on wrong branch, hadn't realized it until after a bunch more work. Then continued screwing things up and unit tests are failing.
This is not a good coding day. -
1/3rd of my work today was documenting my all the parts of my project that haven’t been documented and it felt good1
-
How good was you saying that the backup function was? Maybe I should remember saving my work more often ...2
-
A client wants revisioning on revisions, so he could check if the revisioners were doing good work...
He wouldn't answer then question: "Why not doing the revisioning yourself?". -
It's 1:15 AM and I just got gome from work after 16 hours working on some really difficult mission critical things and deploying.
I think it's 16 hrs, my mind doesn't really work anymore. Good thing I drove home safe...1 -

Staying up a bit later to try to get something to work that you have been stuck on for a while and actually getting it to work is a good feeling even if the solution was a bit hacky.1 -
How do you deal with having too much work on your back but still wanting to help people around you, because you know they are good people and trying their best but they also have too much work to do?5
-
You know it's a damn good day at work when you show up and they tell you to go break into the sheriff's department computers.1
-
I can now tell if a client will be difficult before... I do the work.
Good skill to have, I can tell them to fuck off1 -
none yet :( but on the good side I work at a school! it only takes one student to be sick with it before we all get quarantined and sent home :P
-
My main area of focus is consistent therapy from working with PM's.
In other news, I work on the frontend design and development of internal web applications, good times. -
Work office, using xencenter for viewing xenserver server, tailing some logs and manjaro (arch linux) for bash stuff, and a coffee for good habits hahaha4

in the hospital with surgery and our deployment goes wrong, so glad I work with really good people!3

Working with Swift & Kotlin again, feels good to work with them, although I did enjoy working with Typescript, but React Native is just not fun to work with ....1

Friday: Expectations vs Reality
Expectation: Work on work for half the day then work on side projects for the rest of the day. Consider it a good day.
Reality: Work on work for whole day. Then have your boss set the expectation to have a project completed by Monday morning that you know will take 3 more days. Hence making you work the weekend to try to get it done in time. -.-4 -
I've been meaning to work with the Spotify's Python API 'Spotipy'. Any good suggestions to make anything cool with it? Can include Machine Learning, IOT, etc.7

The feeling when you've spent a good week working on making super new tech work with super old tech... and finally get it working.
On cloud nine ATM. -
I am bored with what I m doing at my office.. I am solving only bugs.. and nobody is ready to assign me good work 😒.. fk man1

Working on a project in which the work is planned around what I'm already good at, isn't much use.
Yes, the person who is paying for the project, would want only someone with experience (good experience) to work on the project.
But really I'd like to work on stuff which will be challenging (in terms of learning new stuff). So yes, I'd like to get paid for learning! -
Good guy Google.
Recently started a new job. Getting good feedback on my work. When really everything is off google :D -
It seems that most of us feel under appreciated for our hard work. Would it kill managers to say "thank you", or say "great work" once in a while? Until then, I'll continue wondering if my work is good enough.4
-
@zlice I am going to ...subtweet you? (Screenshot included)
Basically, so much what you said. 100%.
You stumble your way around different companies until you find something that sits right with you.
There are so many contributing factors to the "good company" and as many definitions as everyone will value different aspects of work. Good management? Tech stack to your liking? Kick ass colleagues? Interesting product? Good work life balance? Company contributing to world's welfare?
I can go on. Each of you will decide what is good, good enough, or decent and what sacrifices and tradeoffs are acceptable.2 -
Anyone working remotely here? What kind of work do you do? I have been doing gamedev for 4.5years and want to go remote, thinking of transition to webdev/backend, good idea?4
-
"All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know it’s normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work … It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions … It’s gonna take awhile … You’ve just gotta fight your way through." - Ira Glass

I'm starting to think that I could listen to some podcasts while I work, to learn things in the background.
Would you recommend good podcasts?
I'd like to listen to software dev good practices, or real life dev stories to learn from. Also videogame dev related would be good too.5 -
The most work hours in a row n a non-dev job were 14 hours, but they were the hardest.
During University I worked in a warehouse once a week. It wasn't that bad and I could rest my brain for 8 hours. But around Christmas time they wanted me to do some extra work (as well as everybody else there). So I had to carry 20kg packages for 14 hours. Three days in a row from 7am to 9pm. I had two travel two hours to work and home again, so I had to get up around 4:30am and went to sleep at midnight. I'm so glad it was only a student job and I don't have to do this in my current job. And I feel sorry for all those warehouse workers, who had to do this regularly.1 -
M$ Access... It's so disgusting...
Have to work with it a good amount of my work time. It's one reason why I'll change company in the near future.2 -
Got a new job. Its all good. Fun work, great colleagues and good pay. However, last week they mandated some new surveillance tech so all network traffic is unencrypted, logged, stored and analyzed.
Should I stay or should I go? I am big into privacy. What would you do?26 -
today is one of those days were work is just a grind
that moment you are interested in nothing, can't find a good tune either and just want to go home and sleep (although you fear even that might not work)3 -

Customer: I don't want to invest anytime in getting anything to work, just make it work.

At this point, honestly, just to change to a business degree and work on being content instead. I have to go a good 20 years back tho, and change all my childhood dreams and aspirations too.
(I had a thick head and really wanted to work with robots. 😐)12 -
I wanted to work on my new project this weekend, Friday I started good with a case of beer, chips and... fell asleep. Saturday I started good as well then breakfast happened and evening ended with shots. Today is sunday and I started fresh with deleting and fixing the drunk code from previous days. 2 screens made and 20 lines of code, pretty good weekend.2
-
The ones I have now! I have a team of great people I'm working with. We get good work done and have alot of laughs. And since we work for a huge fortune 500 company, we have plenty of people in the enterprise to complain to each other about!

Dear Web developers,
I'm looking to boost my skills and improve work flow. I was wondering what sort of tools, editors or platforms would you recommend? I currently use wordpress, php, jquery, sass, react, node and laravel.
I've heard about awesome ways where you can monitor project changes, something like github but with gui for design drafts and stuff.
Also I heard about good online platform for Web development, something like online sublime text where all your files are saved within cloud platform. I'm looking for something that will unify my work throughout different work places.
Lastly, are there any good sites or new technologies that are fairly popular and good to learn or research?12 -
Everyone: Keep people safe and work from home!
My power company: We were going to turn off your power for maintenance but now we won't to help people work from home.
Also my power company today : Hope you didn't need your power to work from home. Good luck with that.

My journey from not knowig anything about programming to actually helping other student without their lab work.

Anyone have any experience (good or bad) getting work through Hired.com? I signed up today and am curious if I should expect anything from it

Good Morning! (it's morning here in my area) My coworker gave a good word today "Don't work for an arsehole until forgot to work for yourself" and "Working for a company who under appreciate you is like having sex with a zombie , the more you remain inside, the more part of your penis disappear"
hahahahaaha and today is his last day..6 -
After I finished the university, I felt like I didn't know anything. I'm learning everyday something new in my work (I'm working 8 years as a dev), but I can't say comfortably that I'm good at programming. After work I'm going home, where I learn and practice new things and deepen my understanding of the core concepts, but again, I feel like I don't know anything. Will I ever feel that I'm a good programmer?2

You find an almost perfect job match then realize it is 45 minutes away on a good day (while driving a 20 mph). Finding work can be *so* frustrating!

What the quack?!
Jesus quack!

Stress in work, pressure that you are failing. Don’t worry, live the bad days until you reach the good once.2
-
Deleting 3 weeks worth of work through incorrectly stashing and popping changes. I don't know why it was a good idea to leave my changes untracked.
Please hold me Devrant community.4 -
Maintaining a good mood, listening to Avicii and electro house music the whole time at work.
It works so far, no more Kendrick Lamar or NF. -

* Somewhere I can make a difference
* Doing something worthwhile (green energy/healthcare/etc)
* Freedom to try and fail4 -

-
I was building my web-app using Semantic UI, I can make the components work correctly, but can't seem to make the entire layout look good. Are there some good places for Semantic UI template that I can download or buy? Using the components along obviously is not enough.2

Maybe I should get a keychain rubber duck or something... I'm programming at work, at school, at dorm, at home. Might be good to have a portable solution.3

or denied outright again.
We'll see I guess . .2 -
Last year, I wasn't able to make something theorically simple with CSS3 animations and ReactJS. Last night, I made it work with VueJS (and CSS3 animations yeah). Feels. So. Fuckin. Good.3

I got an interesting quesrion. People asking me why i started programming and i realised quickly.. I started so never had to deal with people and fast forward a few years i got the opposite, only difference is. I found like minded and good people that love what they do and I am glad with that, maybe abrupt but in my mind, good decision.
So in the end, thank you all regardless of your upbringing, past and where you are in your career. You're the reason all of us actually find comfort in talking to people. Where it be rants good or bad
Enjoy the weekend -

Women, software engineers make good boyfriends.
Why?
We're not scared of committing. We do it everyday at work. :P15 -
I am afraid I might fall asleep tonight. I got work to do. I better make some good coffee.
P.s. No coffee at home -
Does any one work or live at Brno (Czech Republic)? I just got a job there and the pay is good. I'll be relocating.1
-
I can't get any work done from home. Not due to lack of discipline to get going, but due to lack of good coffee. In every workplace I've been at I've always brewed good coffee. And in school there is good coffee to buy cheap. But making coffee at home always taste like shit. So i procrastinate, searching for the right coffee, filter and blaming my brewer for being a piece of shit machine. I mean.. how can I possibly get work done without coffee?1

Sublime text. Just last week I had to implement Java batch with 60+ vars. Without sublime text to edit multiple lines to handle these vars I would go crazy.
The project I work is in eclipse, I think IntelliJ is good to edit multiple lines but eclipse is not very good.3 -

how good is our devops out of 10?3 -
I have two potential offers. A is too good (pay, hours, stability, perks). B is decent (good pay but not so stable, no idea on perks but the work seems cool). Despite better work I'm not inclined to go for B. It is from my previous interview experience rant. People seem shitty, or at least as bad as the ones I'm leaving.
I don't wanna accept A either because they are expecting a longer stay and right now I'm in a state where I don't want to commit more than 6-7 months to anything. 😞
But I don't have any other offers and there aren't any short term projects coming up in my search.
Ugh.11 -

What is a good way of enforcing rules (particularly following release procedures, cut off dates) for a team?
Other than the rules need to be well defined and written down, I'm thinking there needs to be a consequence for violations....
Like must provide a valid explanation or buy the boss/team/whoever has to do extra work because of the violation a drink.
But not sure what's a good one, does it work out is this too Draconian?9 -
Ugh.
I'm leaving this shitfest but these people have all the good toys. I just learnt they are moving to git organization wide! They are in the middle of an ongoing transition and if the management were decent, this would be a really kicker place to work at, in another year or so.
