Stranger: "what are you doing?"
Me:"I'm developing a WPF app for a personal project"
Stranger:"So it's for Windows...I prefer Linux because...blah blah"
Me: -.-
Sometimes I feel like Linux users are the Vegans of the tech world...35 -
This dev world is still so damn fucking sexist, it's driving me nuts.
"it's so cool seing a GIRL doing this stuff"
"wow you're so tech savy for a GIRL"
"you're too CUTE to be a developer"
"how does it feel to be a GIRL in dev"
Just treat us like fucking human beings for once instead of pretty, empty objects.88 -
First time meeting girlfriends grandparents.
👴👵: So what do you do?
😎: I'm a software engineer ... So computers and stuff.
👴: Oh, can you have a look at my phone? There's that weird icon I don't understand ...
So within five minutes, I was their tech support. It was an icon for Android Nearby, btw and I didn't have an explanation ready.
That happened five more times this evening.14 -
Cleaning lady just asked me what OS I use. "Well, Linux" I replied. Oh, she said, I'll ask my husband if he knows about it. He's also good with computers (probably tech support chap or something like that).
I figured that she might not remember the name "Linux", so I thought about writing it down. But it was so hard to resist the thought of instead writing down "btw I use Arch Linux"! 😆15 -
this isn't even a tech thing. it just fucking bamboozled me. I overheard a conversation today.
> "duuuude you gotta make a better password that shit is insecure af"
> "bruh i did, i googled it"
> "googled what?"
> "how to make a good password"
> "so how longs your password?"
> "not long, it's bob2"
> "where's your capital?"
> "I made the '2' capital"
> "so you capitalized a number…"
thank god he walked away. he even told him his fucking password. ignorance.10 -
A seasoned colleague just wrote this and I think it was very valuable:
On tech debt:
So the big challenge with technical debt is making non-technical management (CEO, COO, CFO, directors) understand what it means, and just how it operates. Sometimes it actually makes good sense to incur technical debt to get to market sooner, just as it sometimes makes sense to borrow money to get cash now and repay that loan later with (hopefully) resulting greater revenues from that investment. But just like a loan, tech debt always has to be paid some day. The longer the tech debt goes, the more expensive it gets. And also like a loan, the cost compounds, like compound interest on a loan. Tech debt should always be chosen with a clear plan to pay it off at some point in the not too distant future. The longer one waits to pay it, the more expensive it gets.7 -
This isn't a rant, but I just wanted to share that I just founded my first tech Startup!! 😍😍 So excited to see where this journey leads me.6
-
I am so fucking fed up with being brought into a meeting because you "understand the technology" and then no fucker actually listens when you say that their idea won't work because the tech isn't magic.3
-
Manager: We do not identify as a tech company so don’t expect tech company salary increases this year
Dev: Well don’t expect me to bring a tech work ethic then
Manager: !!5 -
Company giveaways ain't so bad. Got a one year free subscription to a .tech domain and a Raspberry pi 3. :D5
-
I just came to delete my gmail account from when I was 12-13. I haven't touched it in years. There was a video where someone needed tech-related help, so I helped them, and I think that's where this person found me...
"Hacker."7 -
I ranted about this somewhat in the past, but my biggest hurdle has been my family and friends. Please don't take this as ego or conceit, because I don't feel this way about myself. But they all say because of my exotic appearance (Being Japanese and Norwegian) that I should be a model, dancer, actress, or some other vapid thing.
I love tech. My dad is an engineer, so I've been surrounded by tech since I was very young. So now that I am out of high school, I want to turn my coding hobby into a career. My family and friends are not necessarily discouraging me much anymore, but they still aren't supportive. Doesn't matter though, this is the path I've chosen.24 -
My boss fancies himself a tech. So he started exporting data from the users table. And deleting them after exporting them. You know so he can keep track of what he has exported. He deleted his own admin account in WordPress. And than asked me to remake it.5

Girlfriend (she has little idea of tech) was asking if I could fix her notebooks wifi.
I didn't answer that for a week.
Yesterday she really needed wifi, so she went to google and followed several posts - until she managed find the problem and to reinstall her wifi driver for the first time! She was so proud of herself.
I hope I'll never forget that grin of her - full of triumph!
I couldn't be more proud of her myself9 -
So... m starting my internship tomorrow. 4 months, 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
M VERY anxious and quite frightened to b honest.
Wish me luck guys 😨😨😅😅
It is kinda what I wanted though... contains web parts but also C++ 😍
Tech stack: c++, JS, Python 😅26 -
My first job was at a web agency. Non tech background, trying to transition into tech through frontend. Month 1: graphic designer, month 2: CSS guy, month 3: UI guy, month 4: in the frontend team doing react, month 7: leading the team, also doing some rails backend, month 9: full stack, month 11: leading web team.
How? Everyone else in the dev team left at month 7 lol. Literally thrown into the middle of the rainforest, fighting bugs by myself. But became so good at debugging and learning on the spot. Left at month 12 for a better job.1 -
My code is reviewed twice, once by the team leader, and once by a tech lead.
One told me to move a const from file a to file b, so I did. The other told me to move it from b to a.
I really don't care, so now they are behind me duking it out :)5 -
Manager: We really need to save money with this project, so nobody call tech support for anything.
Me: There's this open-source solution that would work great.
Manager: Bad idea! There's no tech support number to call.
Me: ...4 -
In my company we have a weekly meeting for the Tech deparment, so today the IT Director (my direct manager) was describing an issue we are experiencing with our DNS, and he asked
"What we should do with our DNS?"
Instantly I said out loud:
"Resolve them"3 -
Please, do not "learn to code".
The industry is already filled with too many shitheads who think they're the next bill gates.
Most people have no business coding anything.
You might hear big tech screeching about "tech shortages" and that "we need more coders" but in reality, they're trying to flood the developer market with shit-tier coders so they can pay less wages, because they're too greedy to pay their workers a decent salary.
We don't need more coders.
You're not special.
Your bootcamp project looks like dogshit and 10,000 other people wrote the same thing only better.26 -
So my friend who was a working as Tech/System Intern and soon to be junior sysadmin asked me "How was pinging 127.0.0.1 successfull? I am not even connected to the internet?"1

Cleaning lady: *wants some tunes during work*
Me: "Sure, I wanted to listen to some music as well.. not sure if our genres match though 🤔"
Cleaning lady (CL): "So what kind of music do you listen to?"
Me: "Synthwave"
CL: "So um.. synthesizers?"
Me: "Well yes, but it kind of ties in with the dark side of technology.. the whole 1984 dystopian future etc. Privacy, lack of user freedom, etc."
CL: "So essentially cult music?"
TIL that the tech community is a cult for listening to synthwave. I bet she believes that tech peeps are lizards too.
*mentally slaps cleaning lady* - User!!13 -
Doing computer science and all your relatives think you know everything and can do anything tech related.
Aunt: "You study Computer Science?"
Me: "yes"
Aunt: "so somebody called me using a private number I need you to find out who he is and his location"
Me: 😬😬😬3 -
New to this but here's my rant I suppose. It bothers me how "non-tech" people kind of devalue what tech people do. Like they have zero understanding of it, so you make something in 30 minutes or an hour that took years of building said skills and involved complex logic and understanding of relational data and because it only took you 30 minutes or an hour it must have been "easy". Or the way you are everybody's free tech advisor with family and friends... And things are said like "I'm not good with this stuff, but you're so good with it". For the record nobody is just "great" at technology or coding from birth its been a 2+ decade craft that I've experimented with and learned and put effort into. So taking into consideration all this effort I have put in to understand all this you say you'll never remember to push that button so you'll just ask me again when the problem arises. Yes because its so fun for me to constantly maintain your electronics because you can't bother to remember to push a button.5

The worst tech day if my life... In terms of broken things.
I went to London... For a meeting with a new client.
I missed the train being me I made sure I got the early one so I could get another if I missed it...
1st tech fail, the machine didn't print off my tickets just the receipt which is why I was late
Got to London thought I'd try uber I didn't want to be late...
25 minutes till destination ... Ok
2nd tech fail... Was 45 minutes 😔
Now I'm 10 minutes late!
So I rush out of the uber to try and get to the meeting ....
3rd tech fail 😔 I drop my laptop ... Screen was ok I got lucky .
Went to meeting it was in a coffee shop ! I was alone meeting 5 people in this charity.
This company didn't occur to them I'd need internet to show them websites 😐
4th tech fail no internet
Needless to say I didn't get the job. Sad because I would of done a good job . At least I got to chill in London. For a few hours.
They put me on a hot seat as such all asking me questions
I was 19 terrified stressed. And it's only been a year... I'm doing the same tomorrow!
Fingers crossed7 -
I was watching this movie's trailer called Let's Be Evil, it did look promising based on the genre (Sci-Fi, Thriller, Horror) and synopsis (includes Augmented Reality (AR) tech) BUT as I soon was on this frame right here, I am not going to watch the movie now. 😂
You are making a high tech movie, at least do intend to add some realistic code snippets or scripts related to AR rather than showing some random plain HTML.
You can watch the trailer here : https://youtu.be/Nsbzf3bL4Qg
Code will appear around 0:156 -
Customer: “How many concurrent users can use this app?”
Me: “web tech is stateless. (Insert explanation) So concurrency is meaningless.”
Customer: “yeah but how many concurrent users?”
Me: “infinite as long as they aren’t interacting with the server.”
Customer: “but how many?”
Me: “400”9 -
So called my ISP because of slow internet
Me : Hey , slow connection
Him : Could you open up CMD
Me : I'm on linux
then the dude hangs up :/ another guy called later , I guess the tech support needed tech support , FML1 -
My parents r pretty helpful with me programming. They r very supportive 😊😊
I even tell my mom how things work and she takes a lot of interest in understanding as well! She is my own rubber ducky ❤️❤️
My dad is busy and not a tech minded person so he is kinda ignorant about tech, but never stops encouraging me 😊😊
Go my mom and dad!! Yaaay 😍😍2 -
So the team I joined has been producing garbage software in C# for 10+ years. The solution proposed by the tech lead - start using Java because it’s better than C#, that’s why we have problems. This actually gets signed off by management. Why did I choose this career?19
-
Dev: So we need around $50-100 a month to activate and use some key services that would greatly reduce our backend complexity. Would this fit into our budget? Actually, we've never really discussed in general what sort of tech budget we have to work with...
Management: UNTIL WE HAVE SUSTAINABLE REVENUE, OUR TECH BUDGET IS 0
FullStackClown: 0? Are you serious? You can't spare a few hundred dollars TOTAL over the next 3 months until our next round of funding clears?
Management: ALSO WE ARE REALLY GOING TO NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND PRODUCT MARKET FIT FROM THE TECH SIDE
FullStackClown: Oh no... we've gotten to the classic point where they think tech is the thing that will solve their problems... abandon ship...7 -
I can understand (to a point) when non-devs use meaningless tech "buzzwords", but please, as developers, can we just agree not to spout nonsense?!
"Electron is so amazing, it's such a lightweight framework!"
"Django is incredible, it's so agile!"
Agile is a family of development methodologies, and Electron is about as heavyweight as a desktop application can possibly get...10 -

I’m sitting in the parking lot 1.5 hours early to start my new job today. I’ve been rather nervous about it since I accepted the job offer in early December. I’m going to be working with completely foreign tools and software stacks than what I’m used to. I never said I was pro or experienced at this tech stack, let them know during the interviews repeatedly that I’m just getting started with this kind of work and tech stack (devops role using jenkins and ansible mostly). And my experience and knowledge is limited to theoretical understanding of how these tools work together.
I’m excited to get to learn all kinds of new tech and push myself. But I’m also terribly nervous about how quickly I can pick this all up so I’m not a burden to the team.15 -
Everytime a non tech friend start a conversation like "hello my lovely companian, I think I forgot my Instagram password.."
Always ends up with "..so can you hack it for me"
-_-7 -
Did not expect this from Google. Seems like you're hiring real linguistic pros.
Now this is not the only thing I didn't like, they're very disorganized & the interviewer got sick & two of three interviewers were so cocky.. bad bad vibes
On the other side, a small local company is giving warm & good vibes, seems more accommodating even with lower pay.. their website sucks & the tech director was honest & smiling.
So yeah, Fuck You Google
..|.5 -
Got a promotion at work, now manager and opening a brand new location for the tech shop.
That means I have 5x the amount of income to help fund my company and tech, I am so happy.2 -
Comes back to hometown for easter holidays.
(Not so close) 'friends & family' tech support requests start rolling in..1 -
Became an uncle to two beautiful girls the other week. But the plan to make them the future tech support of the family is already in play! Hopefully they will exceed me in about 10 years, I'm a front-end dev so it shouldn't be that hard...
-
How is your relationship with your lead developer?
Today, mine used the bathroom stall next to me and we were talking and cracking jokes.
A friendship that was forged in tech, blood, tears and now shit
Because there are friends, and there are shitty friends(omg so punny)5 -
I get so damn angry when people treat me like tech support.that I made my WhatsApp profile picture the following3
-
Just to clarify thing, FaceID isn't the same tech as what we've had on Android.
In Android, it's based on image recognition. That's the reason it was so easy to bypass with a high resolution photograph.
In FaceID, it projects thousands of dots on your face and creates a depth inclusive map which is used for verification. That's the reason why it's supposed to work even if you have glasses on, etc
So please let's stop with the comparison11 -
I just explained to my dad, who doesn't know a lot about tech, what net neutrality is and about today's vote of the FCC.
His response (I don't know how to properly translate it to English so I will have to wait for AlexDeLarge): 'was sind das für idioten, haben die jetzt alle den Arsch offen? '12 -
Hmm... So apparently originally programmers and tech innovators were mostly women... Sorta strange how now it's flipped...12
-
As a 16 year old, the hardest problem I've always encountered is trying to explain to people that coding as actually more complex than just typing random words.7
-
Kid brings me an ancient Chromebook with non-functioning "t" key.
I crack open the case and remove a bunch of screws trying to get to the keyboard.
No can do. This thing is built to basically self-destruct upon user tampering (Dammit, China!!!)
Put it all back together with the intent of trying to wipe it and recycle it.
The "t" key is suddenly working fine.3 -
Psst, tech world, fuck you and your so called April fucking Fools jokes. They are anticipated, way too obvious and are not even remotely funny.7
-
Why is there such a big hatred towards PHP ? I have recently started backend dev in Laravel and it seems to be a pretty good framework. Most E-commerce frameworks are based on PHP as well. If PHP is so bad then why is it so widely used ?
I am not trying to defend PHP , but I genuinely want to know what's wrong with it ? I might switch to other backend tech then.12 -
I don't understand all this chat about misrepresented groups in tech. Why is it that this forced inclusion as reached even the tech community... Personally I have no problem working with anyone, but yeah...
...in 10 years, I never worked with a female colleague, never with a black person, never with a transgender/unicorn... But I would have absolutely no problem sharing with them... Every person Ive work with so far has been very passionate about tech and software and they sure worked their asses off to have the position they have, learning everyday and coding long hours...
If you're 'misrepresented' grab a fucking book, Google, train, fight, find your way... I never had enough money to study a degree but I loved CS so much since a kid I just made myself a fucking programmer and now I'm a white, straight, male working in IT, so fucking what.39 -
Ok peeps, this is it!
I have completed my contribution to community projects! Wanted to share with you guys...
I was so impressed/inspired with @ChappIO 's www.jsRant.com project that I wanted to create something similar.
So I created an XML stylized stream of rants, in dark theme.
It also reflects how I feel as software developer with my current knowledge - kinda derelict old school!
The underlying tech is Asp.net core 1.1, using my own .net core API wrapper.
So, here it is:
!rant but emotional
Work is significantly less terrible than it could be because I have the best teammates and i can come rant here and be understood. My non tech friends just ask why I don't quit if I "complain" so much. My dev and tech friends are all together at another company and have releases every week they're working on. I appreciate you all and am happy I found this community. 💚1 -
It's hard to motivate developers when the tech stack is a career dead end, the business is fundamentally boring and you're never getting promoted.
So you offer job security.3 -
Difference between frontend and backend as explained by a tech "founder" I recently spoke to -
Any website's landing page/home page is frontend, but if you go Home -> Profile -> Settings page, that's backend because, it's in the "back" so you know, its... the backend.
So yeah....37 -
So, I'm living in a completely computer illiterate family and I was called to help my father with something on a Laptop where he wanted to stream his favorite Soccer-Club.
So I walk up to him, ask what's wrong, and he says (roughly translated from German) "That thing doesn't work!"
And I'm just like ((Wat u mean))
So I ask him to explain the problem in detail.
Apparently his streaming service wasn't loading his stream.
Well damn I say, try searching for the problem on Google and find a solution.
((But no no no imma just call my son for everything that's freaking wrong with tech, he sure knows what to do))
As I'm not that experienced with Webservices as of yet, I had no idea what to do.
He was fucking furious!
"You always act like you know everything about tech and programs and stuff and can't even help me with fixing this Stream-Thing?!"
I responded simply by saying "It's not my area of work!"
Seems like he didn't know the difference between TECH-JESUS and hobbyist software engineer.
So I stand there and he just goes on one of these typical boomer tech illiterate rants, of which I'm sure you can imagine enough being on this platform.
tl;Dr; It pisses me of big time how people are not even trying to understand technology, nor attempting to help themselves by eG. Googling some simple problem, but rather just ask around and then being pissed off if the asked person just doesn't know the answer or can't help!5 -
So at the end of February, my 8 year marriage met it's catastrophic end and I had to immediately relocate, with nada, to a state I've never before set foot in. I was hoping to find an entry level tech position, as I am largely self taught and don't have any certs. So far nothing. I spent 7 years as a cable tech, have to wait another few months to apply at the cable company, but everywhere else tells me I'm overqualified, or need certs/experience in the field. It's a bit discouraging. That's it. Rant over.4
-
This will definitely trigger some people.
New smartphone releases aren't 'tech news'.
An implementation of a technology ripped off from other devices (GPS, VR etc..) isn't 'tech news', it's just implementation of an existing technology.
So please, everyone who reads the self-called 'tech news' to look for a new phone release to waste money on - stop calling yourself a 'tech geek' - "Oh my god, I'm such a tech geek, it's embarrassing - this new iPhone was released and I just couldn't wait to get spend my money on it".
Just shut the fuck up - you are willingly dragging a tracking device everywhere you go and you are PAYING for it to look cool and be full of features you won't even fucking use.12 -
Coworker called me up and shouted at me for refactoring code. "It might break!".
But his copy paste addiction is sure to make everything more stable, right?
Course, he still hasn't figured out that I'm the tech lead, so I will completely ignore his useless whining, as I have his boss on board.6 -
Why is it that every single employer in this field expects you to live and breathe tech and have it as your only source of enjoyment? Can't it just be a job that I show up and do every day and then spend my free time with whatever the hell I want? This morning's job interview:
Hiring manager: so what do you like doing in your free time?
Me: talks about actual hobbies, trying to be personable, making a few jokes, etc
HM: soooo.. nothing tech related then?
I can't imagine any other job expecting this amount of devotion. "So you want to be an accountant but you don't do it after hours for fun!?" Why is this normal?
**Sorry for ranting, job search is getting increasingly frustrating.6 -
Brainwashed Oracle HR Associate: So tell me, why do you want to work here at Oracle?
Applicant (that loves Apache Struts 1.2.4 and WebDav): It would be an honor to be a part of this great conspiracy and sell your products to mid-level project leaders that should not take tech stack decisions.
Brainwashed Oracle HR Associate:
Welcome aboard!3 -
"So I have this awesome app idea..."
Proceeds to tell me, "I'll be, like, the face of the company, and you can just focus on the tech stuff, in the background."
Chad called me ugly nerd, so I took his idea, got an investment from his own father, built the company, and sold it.
See Chad got a new job as a sales development rep
At the company I built and sold
Haha epic2 -
So have been learning programming by myself for a while now and have become good with python.
Will be quitting my current job this month as a HR/Social Media Manager to pursue a paid career in the tech ecosystem in a new city.
Wish me luck.5 -
Don't ever talk to non-tech people about tech. It'll fuck up your mood.
I've talked to a non-tech person lately, so...11 -
So I have attended AWS tech bootcamp yesterday and today.
One thing I notice is everyone either have Mac laptop or other laptops with Win10.
I'm probably the only one with Linux distro. 🤔
I feel special and at the same time, lonely.7 -
Meets a family member****
Fam.Member: Hey so what do you do now?
Me: I work with a tech company
Fam.Member: Nice. As what?
Me: Software Engineer
Fam.Member: oh IT stuff. Can you check my phone for me, it's slow now.
Me: No (then walks away sipping my drink)7 -

I’m curious about the age of tech workers, and what they do career wise as they approach 40, 50, and beyond.
I’m young and benefit from it right now, but the ageism seems strong in this industry and I won’t be young forever.
Does anyone here have a tech career in their 40s+ and if so what advice would you offer to a younger generation of technology professionals to maintain relevance and a satisfying career?16 -
So I I opened my college's Tech Fest website to check the events and an irritating music starts playing at full volume.1

Now that I make decent money, I've started donating to non-profit tech foundations/companies. So far VideoLAN(the guys who make VLC) and WikiMedia done.
What else would you suggest? Thanks :)11 -
I've been wondering what tech will be like in 50 years time,
I can only imagine it will be insane compared to today's tech.
I mean we have only really had 30 solid years or so of computers in people's hands. And the world is.. absolutely different . And really 20 years of internet (when it's been properly mainstream)
If your 20 now you have about a 50-60% chance of being able to see 2070
I think I really want to see that.
I promise I ain't high 🤔5 -
I finally got a job at a tech company (although it's not a tech job) with a very good work/life balance.
Therefore, I plan on getting more serious about properly learning how to program in my spare time, also because, being a tech company, programmers are all over the place and are generally willing to talk about code.
I must say that while job hunting, devRant has been very useful to me since it allowed me to understand what kind of environment I'd like to work in. So far, the first few weeks of work have been great.
Ah, and the view from the office is unbeatable.7 -
Helping a friend who's a brilliant at mechanics and has his own patents, and got this question when downloading on his 10Mbit line:
"This was supposed to be a fast computer, so why is it taking so long to download?"
To explain the reason was surprisingly hard, considering that this is a guy who's been invited to give a lecture about innovation at a top tech university.1 -
A guy walks into tech interview. Solid 6 years of programming and teaching others. Proceeds to stumble on basic questions and fails to demonstrate even junior level of ability yet keeps alluding on how valued he is in his current position. How do people become so detached from reality?2

Google is amazingly good at using tech to solve problems we did not even know we have...
I mean.. How did we even survive til this day w/o google making restaurant reservation or barbershop calls..? We are cavemen bcz we still do it all ourselves... So inefficient..
/s4 -
Recently attended a final stage interview. So far probably spent 60% of the time discussing my previous roles/experience - (sigh) Then along comes the "Core Java" questions. FINALLY!! My chance to really shine.
Q: How do you make an object a singleton?
I give my answer, thinking this is the ice breaker question and ready for the next question...
Nope, thats it! Apart from the automated tech test in the previous round, my entire tech ability is measured by whether I can memorise a design pattern!8 -
Said jokingly to my dev lead yesterday: "or you could just use that VPN we have lying around lol"
The look on his face while saying: "v..pn?"
Like it was same mambo jambo from outer space written in Russian... Lol, this dude is so out of touch with tech :/4 -
F*** companies that give you a coding project to work on and still haven't responded a month after submission. Tech interviews are so beyond f***ed.3

Made a full restaurant web-booking system for a customer...

Just started an internship at a well put-together startup and ended up being in charge of project management as well. Having so much fun learning to be more independent and be a likeable manager. The tech stack in the tag.3 -
Im so fucking disgusted with the paternalistic superiority complex so many techbros have.
They see themselves as the new elite priestly class, protectors of the Sacred Tech, convinced everyone else is too stupid to handle themselves.
The answer to stupidity is not to keep people in the dark, enforcing only more stupidity. What a dismal worldview. Treat other humans with respect and dignity and they will surprise you.6 -
Yeah so seems like huge companies are literally just throwing tech buzzwords like "blockchain" and "cloud" and "big data" for marketing purposes. This annoys me.2

How come the majority of technical/programming videos on youtube is made by asian indians? I don't have anything against them. Some of them are possible to understand.
And i know there is native english speaking people that do tech/programming videos on youtube but its just so few!
I say "asian indians" so it wont be confused with native americans.17 -

What’s the most nonsensical habit that your non-tech-savvy friends or family have with computers or electronic devices?
Here’s mine: when my parents first got iPhones, they were deathly afraid of going over their data plan limit, so they would go into Settings and turn cellular data off whenever they weren’t actively using the phone...8 -
>Got Snapchat streaks with my crush (good so far
>Sends me selfies and whatnot (also good)
>Sends me pic of her macbook (could be worse)
>On the macbook, safari is open (can't hate a non tech savvy for that)
>Goes on her father's Windows laptop and opens internet explorer (aaaaaand I lost interest)
>Sends me pic of iPhone collection (what did I see in her that was so special?)

But it seems I'm not going to be able to escape algorithms in interviews so I'm not getting a new job anytime soon, even in tech.
So the only thing left to try in order to get my cake seems to be joining an open source project. -
So now you can sent email straight in your@buthol.ee

I'm too broke rn, so can all my tech devices not act up and cooperate until I have some disposable income again?
I'd appreciate that lots.
Cheers.6 -
We have so many meetings.
"I once had a meeting which was to discuss how to organize meetings on how to manage tech debts"
"God knows WHY!"3 -
I wish I had been an “ex-Google tech lead” for a week - so that could tell everyone I was “ex Google” as if it were like being a Dr. or something.
(not)10 -
Lately it's been DevRant. Honestly. I sometimes lose the drive to learn. Then see newer tech people are using on here and it reinvigorates me. So DevRant.1

I've deliberately searched a tonne of tech related stuff so my Google feed shows me tech news, but just because I live in Australia in getting bombarded with shit about the royal family.... I don't give a fuck how you pronounce Louis, I just want news!1

Arrived. After making the order, the company contacted me to make sure its not a misstake :D I'm having so much fun (wasted time) with this ancient tech.8

Bashing our fellow developers for using <insert tech> is not cool. This especially became overboard with PHP. And yes I've been guilty of this, despite using PHP before for so long as well.

When I became a dev my parents said: "it's not rocket science, or chemistry or anything good, but at least it's not stressful, or dangerous and we can get free tech support. I hope you are able to pay your own bills and find rent"
A few years, a degree and finding a supportive woman who is now my wife and and I make 4 time as much as my parents make now they want me to move back so they can get their tech support and see my wife I guess she is more social than I am -
So I got sick of this "nodejs" bullshit around here and proposed a competition to define our next backend tech.
The node defender is already finding excuses as to why they might write bad code because of lack of knowledge , my answer:
If you don't know the tech we ain't gonna use it. -
What is this 'cutting edge dev tech' y'all talking about? Does it count if I somehow manage to add support for MS Edge?? 🤔
Hell.. I'm stuck with COM+ & activex, so if anyone who gets to use fancy pants new techs would be so kind to ping me and let me know how it even feels to code like it's 21st century, that'd be great..2 -

I don't really have to help her with tech, however, let me just brag a little..
I convinced my mom to try out Linux a few years back. To this day she still uses Manjaro, and tells me she has less issues than in her Windows days. So proud. -
Thinking about creating a tech news account on devRant. A little idea that just came to my mind...
The account will contain all kinds of news! (about the tech industry of course)
So for example when a company acquires another company (IBM > RedHat, Microsoft > GitHub, etc.), a well-known website/app gets new features or a company releases a new smartphone, we will inform you here!
Of course I'd need some help if I wanted to do something like this. Especially from other timezones! (I'm im Austria/Europe)
Write a comment, if you're interested in helping out! The more people, the better!17 -
So who knows about this beauty / THE BEAST
Hint : Nvidia
Comment if you are fanboy of GPU tech! I am certainly 😎29 -
There was a time when backend engineers used to make fun of frontenders and tell them 'you arent a real software engineer', nowadays frontend is getting so complex and cool that even backenders are now starting to learn frontend. I am so happy that because of new tech and frameworks frontend has gained such a massive respect.26

My favourite dev tool? I would't be able to do my work without any tool, which's in the list. I love IntelliJ IDEA & Webstorm, Java, JavaFX, Maven, Git & Gitlab, TeamCity, Upsource, YouTrack, Artifactory, wtf that list's kinda the complete tech stack. But I completly hate AWT & Swing (AWT fucks up on my Linux install, such a frame creates in about 10-20 seconds, if you test the app locally, you loose approximately 15 seconds per minute, and Swing uses AWT internally too), I hate Gradle (screw Google for standardizing it), and so on. Wow that's like my complete tech stack, what the fuck happend? The question was one tool, help me.1

So Taran from Linus Tech Tips posted his autohotkey code on twitter the other day and the amount of redirecting and includes is a little frustrating.1

Me coding and researching to fix new things everyday and people come to me saying:
"You are working too much"
And I'm thinking: actually, its a never ending learning job, I dedicate so much because almost everyday I learn at least one thing.
But knowing that non-tech people have a hard time around it I just answer: yeah.3 -
While I'm not a dev, I do love computers and I do know my way around them, so friends/family often ask me for tech support.
Friend: Please fix my computer!
Me: what's wrong with it?
Friend: *sends me pic of blue screen of death*
Me: ...
Me: I don't think you understand -
I have come to realize that my stress comes from how inefficient my clients use their tech.
I have to stop caring. Is it up? Is it running? Good. That should be where my investment ends.
I shouldn't fear a heart attack or stroke because of some clients' inefficiency.
IT'S JUST SO DAMN HARD. -
So I'm about to finish The Design of Everyday things by Don Norman and I have Clean Code coming up next.
But what are some good programming books that are tech agnostic?2 -
My boss creates so many wtf moments with his total tech "un-savyness", although he is the " lead" dev, that I'm getting worried that I might be doing the biggest wtf faces every time ... I can't pretend like nothing is happening anymore .... Fuck!

The biggest race ..
Intern wanna be junior,
junior wanna be intermediate,
intermediate wanna be senior
And the fear not to be lower then each other may be the reason why tech is
moving so fast on never ending race2 -
All tech department was really happy when we used Github Projects - managing a project was concise and organised. We loved it.
Then one day, product pushed us all to switch to the fuckin' conglomerate mess called Jira (fuck you Atlassian), which we still hate. So cumbersome, so much unimportant crap features, unintuitive interface, slow .... yes, fuck you Jira, again.7 -
How to spot the difference between a tech enthusiast and an actual Programmer/Engineer in 2019?
Tech Enthusiast: I'm really excited about the New X, it's going to be the fastest machine in the market. It's got gimmick feature A, gimmick feature B, actual feature A ......
Programmer/Engineer: So I bought this 8-year-old Thinkpad from eBay yesterday, wifi isn't working but I could just buy an off-market wifi card and fix it. Might also replace the old HDD with a new SSD. Would probably start using it as my daily driver once it's fixed.4 -
Recruiter emailed regarding a fin tech company that is “utilising some very modern technologies such as Scala, Java, C++...”
I was feeling kind so I actually replied (very politely as well) to suggest he change his wording slightly. -
Not my week for tech.
5 year old 21" desktop monitor burns out. 2nd monitor, so at least not completely down.
Then my toddler reached for my root beer and spills it on my 1 month old laptop. I quickly pull the plug and turn upside down, get it wiped off and pray. Next day, arrow and enter keys a little sticky and battery is blown. The 2 exact fucking reasons I bought the new laptop. (keyboard issues and battery)
Keep em coming tech gods.4 -
Finding out how not to do it.
An example, learning how to parse HTML, and finding a stackoverflow post with the answer "use regex" triggers tech junkies so much that they actually comment a mostly accepted way of doing something.3 -
I like PHP but every new tech is about all the other languages ! Recently i was searching for microservice architecture and oh it's so easy with nodejs ! It's ready made for Go ! Java has a library build in ! What about Symfony ? Laravel ?18
-
Probably taking our tech directors mobile phone and putting in the ceiling. Kept ringing him from our desks and he couldn't work out where it had gone, but could hear the theme from Rocky, so knew it was close!

“Practical” tech interviews for senior roles (from my experience): DONT worry! We won’t give you any “leetcode” problems!! Instead, we’re giving you only 40 minutes to do this huge laundry list of tasks that are simple but hella time consuming. We want to see how fast you can type. So you have 40 minutes to write a mini app while we take note of the shit ton of simple errors you make due to the time crunch as your fingers burn through the keyboard and then wonder why no one can pass our “simple” tech exam!!!!
DAMMIT!! the only tech exams I enjoy are ones that involve refactoring existing code bc everything else is a fucking speed test! I’d also MUCH RATHER take these exams WITHOUT someone there taking notes like I’m a fucking lab monkey!10 -
I think a lot of pissed off devs are working at companies that see them as cost centres. Happy devs are at companies that see them as profit centres.
Like, a cereal company may have a tech team for their website and ordering and whatever, but having the best website isn't going to make them more money. Selling more cereal is.
If a company sells video processing software, having the best software is going to make them money. Tech is a profit centre.
So, anyway, I'm looking for a new job. Any rec for profit centre tech teams?2 -
Yay, I inherited a project with no documentation that is soon to be out of the prototype phase in a tech stack where I have no experience. It is already sold to customers and they expect it soon.
There are so many bugs, never been code reviewed but the main functionality semi-works :(15 -
Ahhhh, devRant, the last holy place where you can carelessly read without being flushed with fucking foodball news.
Only the tech thingies I like so much, all year long. Devrant, I love you!1 -
I have been interning at a tech company as a software developer. And it is a paid internship program where I haven't got any stipend for the past months. I have to pay rents, bills, even my transportation too. So o decided to startup a tech company along with my friends. Later this month we are launching our first product.3
-
While calling a tech company:
10 *music starts playing*
20 "You're second in queue"
30 GOTO 10
Is it so fucking difficult to let the music continue so I won't have to hear the same 10 seconds of the beginning of this already annoying song?!
When I finally get connected they tell me my order won't be in stock for another month... I just want my beautiful monitor 😭1 -
After 3 tech rounds and an assignment submission they finally offered me a job.
ME: I am so excited to be part of...errr do you guys work on Saturdays ?
HR: Yes! we have kept Saturdays as our hack/discussion da...
ME: See you never!!!5 -
My school system is complete shit, if I haven't said so already. With Gerrymandered, Arizona, and I, our futures are actively being made harder by the fact they the system discourages experimental thought. Experimental as in anything different whatsoever. In tech, you usually have to think outside the box a little, and this is only making it harder.5
-
So... I'm a DevOps engineer and I received an email from boss today wanting me to do "tech Ops" for next few months, basically tech support because they are having a shortage and too much tickets that they can't handle. *Palmface*7
-
Took about 67 hours to do homework task and still not got the job offer. And they kept asking few times when I will send the task, because they saw me as very likely me fitting, so I thought there is high chance to get and was motivated to do the homework.
Of course that much time took because I did not know technologies, it would be much less if I knew tech.
But at least learned new tech.13 -
The company I work for now has so much tech debt. When I find an issue, I can’t necessarily fix it right away because I have other priorities. If something isn’t a site-breaking issue, then I only fix it when a user or staff member reports it.
The website is a mess because it was built and maintained by an outside dev agency. It was so expensive to outsource that my employer decided to bring development in-house.
That’s where I came in. I found so many issues. Tech debt. UX weirdness. Newish features that no one seemed to use. It goes on.
So I’m balancing new feature development, fixing bugs, and trying to lessen our tech debt. I’m a team of one.1 -
People say "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
However, I think companies can and will create anxiety in a product to get you to buy something else, or something more expensive. This would fit with planned obsolescence. You need to update to Windows 11 because Windows 10 will not have support of updates. Fear the viruses!!!
Also, perhaps companies are purposely hiring incompetent people to head up products? So malicious incompetence?
I think the enshitification of tech is on purpose for various reasons. One of them being to create anxiety in people so they accept shittier solutions for all facets of life. Not just tech solutions.
A tech example of this is searches. They want you using AI. What is the end game goal of AI? Is it easier to hide bias?21 -
checkout 'Pantheon' anime series

Story Time: About Priorities and Sales
So at this point I'm working tech support for a company that makes some super cool networking equipment, think big data / data centers and such.
This company had grown at a good pace but the the support team had not (thus is the way for all tech support evetually). So I get a call from a frantic sales guy:
Sales: "OMG, where are with this ticket?!?!? It's a P2 ticket!!!"
Me: "Well the ticket came in 30 minutes ago, I emailed them some questions, but just so you know I have 8 P2 tickets, and 4 P1 tickets.... so it will be a while."
Sales: "OMG! Make my customer's ticket a P1!!"
Me: "Sure."
-call ends-
-30 minutes passes-
-sales calls again-
Sales: "OMG, where are with this ticket?!?!? It's a P1 ticket!!!"
Me: "Well I haven't gotten to them yet... just so you know I have 7 P2 tickets, and 5 P1 tickets.... "
Sales "ARGH!"
ʅ(´◔౪◔)ʃ1 -
I'm just so fed up with these constant updates and changes in the tech world. Can't we just stick to one thing for more than five minutes without it becoming obsolete! It's insane, makes me want to punch a wall am I right?8
-
I'm fairly new here, so I can't wait to see that one person who knows nothing about tech or software development/engineering join devRant and have no clue what anything is.
-
In Fireship's last video, the guy talks about how Amazon moved Prime video's architecture to old-fashioned monolith, from Serverless, and saved a bunch of money and improved performance doing so.
It makes me wonder, what old tech have we put behind us already that will later make a comeback as an 'improved' version of that tech? What do you think?11 -
This morning I got a reply to my tech support email:
The problem was that the dynamic pages on my website are no longer being served as dynamic pages and so IIS is throwing errors on every page load. Seems to me like they've done something their end because I didn't touch it when it happened...
The tech support email essentially told me to rename all my files from .cshtml (ie. a dynamic page) to .html.
I'm not expert, but I doubt this is going to solve the problem...4 -
In all the companies i worked at so far, never seen any employee (in any department) above age 50..maybe the ceo or some lawyer, but thats it.
Where do all the 50+ ppl go in tech?
I'm not sure the tech world will be what it is now even in 10 years.. but I'm just wondering do any of u guys think/worry about where we'll work when we stop being young and cool?
Looks like it's either u start your own business, which not everyone can, or..
what is option B exactly?!?17 -
Now it's over and failure seems certain...
In fact I'm certain that the interview app on my browser flickered for a second and showed some form with a red Failed text before displaying a Thank You page...
So it seems if I really want to get a tech offer, I have to focus on algos big time.... Hm....1 -
Just came across this sentence in an oped... some strange times we live in. I still remember when I was getting into tech how everyone was afraid of Microsoft... but to be honest google & apple are doing more EEE than Microsoft so...6
-
Windows, the operating system which is so much more user-friendly than Linux, or so they say, cannot be operated by my family members without constant support helping them to find files they downloaded and want to send in an email for example. So I have to stretch my mind between my family's non-tech end-user perspective and Microsoft's Windows 11 UI, both of which deviate from my developer's perspective, each in its own surprising way.5
-
PM:"I don't care how you dev build it, those are tech details, not my business, I only care about the business domain."
sounds familiar?
this is the main reason why so many projects failed, can you image any professional use such an asshole statement in other industry.1 -
I look forward to the day that most jobs atleast in the tech industry are remote jobs so that you don't have to spend half the day in traveling and other unnecessary bullshit related to workplaces.1
-
!rant
I've always been wondering why do tech companies need everyone to have a strong grasp of algos and data structures?
I've been coding most of my life but didn't get a CS degree so ended up in IT but I kind of want to get into a tech company as my thinking is the quality of code much higher (I spend a lot of time cleaning up other people's code and prod issues over the years...), I've been learning Algo/DS but when I see those technical questions on CareerCup, I go WTF.... it's this the kind of problems you guys do every day?6 -
It amuse me when managers are trying to be smart, so they pretend to understand all tech stuff but they just fool themselves and no one threat them seriously XD3
-
Setting up an FTP & Plex server for our house.
>> This was in my infancy of programming and tech, so it made me feel like a complete fucking BADASS. -
Since everyone rants about interviews, I think that's the perfect time to ask this.
In a week, I'm going to have my first interview.
Its for an apprenticeship as "Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration".
For the non-german speakers, pretty much sysadmin,server-engineer, sometimes internal tech-support.
The company isn't a tech-company, but a logistics-company.
The interview will be done by the boss of the company's location and the lead of the IT-department.
So, what should I expect, what questions and such ?3 -
Anyone else here suffering under a tech lead who instead functions as a business analyst and ignores their dev process in favor of stakeholder demands?
Case in point: our tech lead actually said in our latest retrospective (yes, we're running on Agile) that we should align our schedule to business. So wtf are we even doing Agile sprints for effs sake (this we did not say for fear of losing our jobs) -
The tech being rude about my RSA token not working locking me out trying to use a USB override stick...he got so mad he just walked out 😂
-
We were having a project followup and a colleague starts boasting to the client about her perfect school grades, so a friend, our tech lead and I start sending messages mocking her, so the tech leads bursted laughing in the middle of the meeting, then the pm asked him what was going on and he rated us out, since then he never uses his cellphone again during meetings.
-
I wake up with so much interest and enthusiasm for programming and tech. It all goes away when I start work at 9 AM. Everyday at 5 PM, I question my career choices. I don't have the interest from the beginning of the day nor the energy to do anything.4
-
I love when someone trash talks software or something tech when they so clearly have no idea what they are talking about in the slightest 🙃1
-
so I asked a question on linus tech tips discord channel that wasn't GPU related and the whole chat went quiet.
I mean, it's a tech channel are GPUs the only thing boys talk about now?
the new dicksize contest? lol12 -
I just realized something. So my company's whole release process and code management now run on mainstream tech products: Atlassian, Jetbrains, IBM and not in house/vendor crap1

Honestly, i don't give a fck about getting job in tech companies of nature like TCS or Cognizant. So stop talking about them to be dad!
Wish he would understand that.2 -

So, my friend and I want to start a small business. For that, we will need an online shop. Since it's not happening tomorrow, I figured I could take the time and build it myself.
However, I've never done anything of the sorts, so... where do I start?
I don't have any specific tech stack in mind, I am new to it all.
Help?22 -
So I made an inquerery for some API documentation..
They escalated the ticket to 2nd level support from what they already called tech support.. why have API integration as a feature then?? -
Do you ever feel so down that you realize you've been writing shit code which does nothing productive and you've been just reinventing the wheel? Like, being in a confused state of being doubtful and afraid of being outdated coz you don't know any future proof tech? I'm in the final year of CS undergrad and this feeling sucks.3
-
Everytime i buy any electronics , my brother would suggest me to buy latest ones with the newest configuration . His logic was " If you buy a not-so new tech now.. It will outdate fast and you will end up with an outdated one soon.. So the extra 10K is worth considering that " .
Considering the development trend i personally think it is useless to invest in electronics unless necessary . Everytime i buy an electronic product , within 2 or 3 months i find the same good at almost 75% of the price.. So with tech prices falling like this.. i think it is worth saving that money instead of the cutting edge tech which i wont need for another 2 years .
Thoughts ?
(The cousin brother i mentioned does this everytime he buys a phone and ends up changing the phone 4 times faster than me.. and the use case is similar to mine if not worse..)1 -
Just happened today!
So since this morning we've been trying to get our website ready for UAT deployment Monday next week, even though we only were told of it yesterday. Since we had some critical merge conflicts to unscrew on our dev branch for promoting to UAT, we sent a warning to everyone on our hipchat group
Dev team: @all please don't commit anything to the repo for an hour or so while we get the branch good for dev and uat build
Tech lead: ok
That should be enough warning, right? Surely our tech lead, who has been piling up our scope creep trying to please our stakeholders, understands well enough not to do a single goddamn thing on our repo until we sort it out, right?
Nope.
10 minutes later our tech lead pushes several changes that not only break our builds but also remove all our configuration transformations. I just stormed out of the office to avoid sending her on a one-way ticket to slapsville and fuckyoutown. Geez goddamn louise. -
I once met a guy who said tech guys chose windows over Mac's because windows goes wrong often so it keeps the tech guys in work!
And Mac's hardly ever break so they didn't want their business to use them
He clearly hasn't met tech guys we don't want to be dealing with your fucking problems
It made me furious internally... I said nothing.
Seriously do you think all tech guys in the world joined a union and went 🤔 how can we make sure we have more work ... Fuck off you ponsy twat6 -
"agile" teams, changing scope, unrealistic deadlines, non-tech PMs...
So much fits into this category.2 -
How long did it take to receive an offer from a big tech company after your final interview? I’m just so antsy with waiting.. Any one have experiences past 2 weeks? Or even next day?2
-
Co-workers with low commitment to a project are the worst to have. I am willing to trade technical depth for commitment in a team member any fucking day! Tech is easy to learn, work ethics not so much!3
-
Halt and Catch Fire is having another great season. Lived those days and it is so true. CompuServe, Compaq, Commodore, 5 1/4", Tandy 1000, Byte Mag, Atari, The Well... The tech you see is really 1985ish. Attention to detail is appreciated by long time technologists.
H&CF is about building a tech business and much applies to today's startups. That two brilliant tech women are leading the charge adds to it. All the characters are great Cameron, Gordon, Donna, the devs at Mutiny and Joe channeling Jobs (in my opinion) is spot on.
Any H&CF fans have an opinion?4 -
grandparents: "why can't you fix our tv? I thought you did this kind of tech stuff for a living!?"

Today I've confirmed that there actually are real developers that aren't monkeys in my company and team.
Me: {discussing how to fix something, he said we will use some new tech} ... So how do you up with all this latest tech?
Him: https://www.thoughtworks.com/radar
Me; Thanks! I was thinking it was just a web dev skill :) I mean looking at it package.json, I always think how can someone pick all these modules for a single app... And there's always a new JS framework.
Him: You goto sleep knowing be day will bring new frameworks to keep up on :D
So yea there are actually people here that actually know what they're doing... -
I don't get why this retard keeps ignoring my comments on a PR he asked me to review. He is a level above me so I can't push it. I just approve his PR and let him know I do so but with a comment. He then ignores the comments and merges his rubbish changes into the codebase thereby creating a tech debt.6
-
Bad English aside I am so sick of incompetent customer service reps. Holy shit it's like they will hire anyone these days.
Here just read from this script and not the code version. That's all the tech you need to know right here on this single piece of paper.
Fucking incompetent bastards need to go work at a non technical job like Burger King because tech support is beyond them.
They'd probably fuck that up to. That's a completely different rant, those who can't even do fast food jobs right. At that point just go get on disability because your fucked.
To be fair I will occasionally get someone in the tech support sector who knows their shit but it's few and far between and its always a welcome surprise.12 -
I have quite a few interesting stories from my romantic but also technical foray into dating applications.
There was a lad who was quite attractive that I encountered on Tinder. And I thought he seemed familiar. Turns out he worked at a start-up I had visited a year earlier.
Although at the time I was looking for romance, all I could think about was discussing the pros and cons of dating websites and building at least one that functioned well. To be fair, so was he, however he just wanted a Wham Bam thank you ma'am (which I didn't). Ghosted me without even a tech hangout.
It's so hard when you encounter cool tech folks you want to befriend and pick their brain but you met them on a dating site.6 -
my friend: i have landed a job at a top tech company, without experience on their tech stack, through a referral with our mutual friend
me: happy for them, but also seething as when im referred through the same friend i dont even get to the screening process
the pain of being weak, shitty at your job, and lacking meaningful experience being stuck at a meh company for years

Got a new job. Its all good. Fun work, great colleagues and good pay. However, last week they mandated some new surveillance tech so all network traffic is unencrypted, logged, stored and analyzed.
Should I stay or should I go? I am big into privacy. What would you do?26 -
Hey so Father's Day is coming up, any ideas for gifts? He's like 60 and though a dev, not really a tech type.3

So i am interning at this startup which has been selected at tech stars so the founder and a couple of guys have gone to berlin while i stay in india due to college. The other week a Comcast tech was out to install some new equipment. He was unsure whether an antenna could be placed outdoors, so he asked on a Comcast tech group chat. Within seconds he received a response from another tech: "Google it". It just amused me slightly that it's not just developers who get this response, and also made me a little bit mad because I know the frustration of being told to Google something even when I am asking in the right place.5

"basically I have quite the experience and last job I was senior"
"How much experience do you have with [language] in specific?"

The thing I don't enjoy is being vilified for being a male in tech. I feel like I'm the bad guy.11 -
Co-worker that is non-tech oriented:
"So what do BI developers do?"
Me:
"Well...." start simple then get uber complicated.
Co-worker:
"Oh ok cool. Well my LAN isn't working, can you help me?" -
A coversation with a classmate:
(We embraced Node and Javascript but he had no interest at all)
Me: So what tech stack do we use for this project?
Him: You guys decide... I'm fine with anything.
Me: So you're fine with any tech we use? No opinions?
(We need confirmation from all members but he, being the uninterested person he was, gave half-hearted replies)
Him: I'm actually a ROR person, not interested in node.
Us: ....
Dude we understand that you prefer ruby but at least help us decide! We studied all of this together... sheesh1 -
Ok so as the only developer in a tech startup who is mostly self-taught i've decided to take the initiation and do some online certificates and diplomas
bagged 2 now
1 Python programming
2 Business frameworks and IT for Orgs2 -
"hey, can you help me doing this on the phone?"
"hey, do you know what,'s wrong with my computer "
And so on...
I am no tech support.
First world problems, I know 😑 -
Pick up and learn new tech like SignalR and Vue and many more while also focusing on design patterns and software architecture.
Get myself another promotion so I can afford more shit.
Learn rock climbing, get into boxing, and do a first aid course.
Yeah, I'm gonna be busy as hell this year. -
So I've been getting a lot of attention from various companies ranging from small tech start ups, to big established companies. I've had a lot of interviews that all went really well! So some weeks passed, and I have no feed back from any companies, so I proceed. I eventually get an offer from one company that is really good. They day i accepted it, I received about 4 other offers from all the other companies! And I got about 5 interviews to now decline! Murphy's law at is cruellest!1
-
Interview: looked like I'm gonna use headless cms and jamstack ecosystem
Actual job: xml server with pike for the backend. Frontend served serverside + vuejs so good luck doing anything reactive without refreshing the page
After complaining I got to work on my tech stack but no signs of jamstack/headless. Even worse experience!2 -
There is a project: multi step form. It has login form, text field, date, upload. It is written in jQuery, Zend and oracle. I need to rewrite. I can use my familar jQuery, PHP skills. Or I can go for react redux, build API with Zend. The issue is that I only have 2 months. Very basic knowledge of react, redux webpack. So I need to learn and build the project. Should I go for new tech. I am not sure I can reach deadline, as there are many things to learn. Advice? If i use the new tech, how do I learn quickly?5
-
So finally I could find a part-time job! Better yet, I'll be paid as a full time worker! It's a shame it isn't tech related, I'll be taking care of a small firm's finances. But hey, I got a small office that, as my employer told me, I can use outside of work, for whatever I want! It's been a good year so far!1
-
So 90% of the Tech Support team is off today. So I decided to jump in to help the guys out:
Me: *solves issue
(one less ticket to solve)
Reporter: "thank you for your help!"
(re-opens the ticket)
Me: *recloses the ticket
Reporter: "thanks again"
(Reopens ticket)
Me: smashes head into desk
How am I supposed to get tickets solved when most of the open tickets are "thank you's"! -
I hate people who own crypto and think they're some futurist tech elite. You don't know how the price will fluctuate in the future so stop thinking you're some goddamn fucking wizard. Just because you know the very basics of how a blockchain works or simple economics, doesn't mean you're better than those who don't own crypto.1

So, I recently started a new job as a "general" IT tech for someone my dad knows. He does insurance billing and everything is done manually (manually copying from pdfs to excel sheets, etc). A couple of weeks ago, I started developing a custom suite of software for automation of some parts of the processes + integration with the task management software we use. At this point, I feel like my boss is turning into a client. Is this a common occurrence? BTW, it's a small company (5 employees including him) and I'm the only person who does tech around here.1
-
Failed the interview I was hoping for.
I already had 3 tech rounds, this was 4th and god I couldn't solve anything. Other rounds were fine but only this one was bad. I feel so exhausted, I finally thought that I'm out of this shit hole but no I have to continue working day and night. :( :(2 -
Alright my fellow devs and other tech related/adjacent people, we can easily glean from your rants and profiles what you do while developing. But I want to get to know the person behind the screen. After all we aren't our jobs.
So, outside of software development and related activities, what do you do in your spare time?7 -
I have been working on some relatively complex web app and since the beginning every two weeks or so my boss decides that we should bring some relatively important changes on the flow of the app on screens that i already made. Anyone can relate to this? Is this common in the tech industry as a front end dev?2
-
Ugh why are people so tight!
I'm trying to sell a $1000 laptop for $600 and people are either not bothering to look at it or complain $600 is too much for a laptop -,-
Added that I'm willing to trade for a Mac of any sort so let's hope that adds something but fucking hell!
Gotta love not buying shit tech and trying to sell it -,-
Btw the laptop has been used for less than 2 hours -,-3 -
Need advice guys
Where I'm working now I'm the tech lead, but I'm not happy. I want to get deeper into infrastructure and DevOps but I have no scope for that.
I have an offer from another company. A very small raise. Supposedly will lead to tech lead in 6 months after I help them recruit a team. Offered mid. I went back and said because of uncertainty about where the role would head, and coming from where I am, I would accept the offer with the title so I have more confidence about the future of the role.
They came back with a senior role, not tech lead, saying there's no scope for that yet. They also said they envision giving me architecture control and letting me train and drive the cloud process.
But this is all heresay. I could take the role, the project is postponed, there is no team to be a tech lead for, and so no pay increase or opportunity to learn.
Opinions?6 -
Alright I have a question for android/ios app dev, as being a web dev I see one has to do so much for tech stack as there are tons of web languages. And to keep themselves upto date according to the latest tech stack they have to learn new every day.
What about app devs you don't have so many languages like web do so can I say a person spending more time in one lang can learn it way better than web devs who have to look for the latest tech stack and start from the scratch?7 -
AWS documentation and their paid tech support sucks so fucking much. Jesus fucking balls
P.S. Can any of you explain to me how to generate pre-signed url for GET request for CCP transcriptions?5 -
Tech lead: so for this sprint, please implement this HTML page in Angular
Me: do we know what kind of Angular table we are using yet?
Tech Lead: just use the Angular UI one
Me: do we know if that supports drag and drop and custom filters?
Tech Lead: that's not needed for this page
Me: yeah but like 5 other pages of this web app does
Tech Lead: so? We will find a different table then.
Me: but they will look and feel very different and it will be totally obvious that it's patchwork, and we will need to rewrite this page you want me to write now...
Tech Lead: so what if they look completely different. Stop thinking about future sprints. can you have it done next week?
Me: ummmm.....
... this is going to be a fun project. Oh, not to mention I'm only supposed to work on it for 20% of my time....1 -
I got asked today by my non-tech friend what happens when you delete system32 so I gave him this video.
In case you get asked the same question here's your shortcut

So i made an account on this education videos android app for checking their ui. Used the name "Han solo" and... they contacted me for buying their courses!

After weeks of constant rush, I finally managed to have one week dedicated entirely to reduce Tech Debt.
It felt so good to close all these todos, finally write those tests, that documentation :)1 -
8 hours in the office yesterday without any tasks. 1 hour in today, still no tasks. I wonder how long this will go on for.
Plus side: so much time for reading about new [to me] tech4 -
Ok so I'm a dev at a small tech company and I've been working here for 3 months now and I've done 0 dev10
-
Me: I need a new website. Let's make it with NodeJS / AdonisJS so I get a grip on that tech.
Also me: mmh, how about I use it as an API so that I can plug some other things in it?
Also me: successfully develop a headless CMS based on an API, with AdonisJS. Not perfect, but runs like a charm. -
Pretty sure Entity Framework is the worst thing invented for devs... So frustrating. Hey devrant, what's your tech stack? (Please don't say entity framework. Please?)5
-
Non tech hobby of mine: bird watching (you may have guessed based on my username). Although it’s a non tech hobby, there are so many great apps to help identify birds and learn about them. EBird, birdnet, Merlin, picture bird etc. I also have a few books about bird watching.
Crazy how many different kinds of birds you can see when you really start paying attention.5 -
What do you tell non-tech-savvy ppl that you do? So far I've narrowed it down to: "I'm a programmer of sorts...". "I make websites" just doesn't cut it anymore. With others I'm safe to say I'm a full stack developer.16
-
So we (group of 3) were out to a tech guy who was out sourcing some project. During the meeting we mentioned VCS, upon hearing this the guy was like "this is used by big companies". we left the meeting then and there.
-
Same product repo, two projects, 2 tech leads and 4 pms. Each project is a race to merge for trunk so the other has to do it.
-
When you're a better programmer then your tech teacher (he studied video editing in college so he gets a break) so you're expected to resolve everyone's tech issues while you don't know much yourself so you have to cheat your way through. 😩😩
Good thing I'm the only one not using graphical view in dream weaver. Lol1 -
Man my gf is awesome and actually takes interest in my tech adventures, but she gets so angry when I stay up late coding. So I wrote in a extra line of code in her software to make her more happy. Unfortunately it caused a buffer overflow.

Applied for summer co-op positions today. First time applying for tech jobs! So much more nerve wracking than applying for random whatever I can find jobs. I’m so scared and imposter-syndrome-y, but I know everyone feels that way... aaaah1
-
I love my job, teaches something new everyday!
I absolutely like working on 99' tech and programming languages,
I love being an on call agent so I can get my sleep interrupted,
Happy april fools fellas -
I see that most of you hate influencers in Tech, so I created a comedy skit about it, and featured Theo in it.
Check it out here -> https://youtube.com/watch/...1 -
So... This month I will start a new role in a new company as a Tech Lead. This is my first time in this position. Any suggestions or tips from you guys are appreciated.14

Got an interview at a financial tech firm. I asked them what I should wear:
Engineering is a casual environment, so we encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. We are focused on your knowledge and skillset, not your outfit, so please come as you are.
Not a suit, OK... but not sure if I should wear weekend casual or my usual business casual/work clothes...5 -
Well this is epic... The GitHub acquisition is so big, my dad just emailed an article to me about it...
He's a Dev but he's not usually up to date on tech news...
I'm sorta confused, I see a lot of about in Algo about this but didn't we know already like 2 days ago? -
I've been trying Hyprland for the past couple of months. So far, it's the best tiling composer I've seen:

I am really psyched about the tech to create voices for generated speech. I am really excited when in the future this tech might be small enough to deliver with a game or OS. Then much more interactive games can be built with generated text. It would be so cool to license voices for this kind of work.
It will probably end up with artists creating unique and interesting voices to allow game developers to pick and choose. So voice artists will be a thing as well as graphics artists. The tricky part will finding a way to add mood states to the generated voices. Right now this could be done with different voice profiles for different speech.
Right now the tech is "large", but this will rapidly become smaller and efficient as it gets developed more.1 -
Sometimes I think I am a weird nerd, one day I was writing something inside Ubuntu VM for practicing some DSP tech with Python environment on my office computer, someone DM me asking for tech support so I have to pause and go to figure it out. I wanna make some version control or backup stuffs to my little tiny cute .py files, so that I can pick it up when I was at home. And I just plugged my udisk in Ubuntu, copied those files to it, and switched USB port control permission to Windows, and finally git to commit. Actually the next time when I continued to write it at home, I hesitated for a while, should I pull it from git or just take out that udisk from my backpack? #IThinkShareFoldersAreUglyAndDirty

Mesosphere sold every e-mail who registered with them to Tech Global Leads. Either that or Tech Global Leads stole a list of leaked e-mail addresses. In either case I unregistered/unsubscribed from Mesosphere and still got e-mails to those two specific accounts from Tech Global Leads with Mesosphere consulting soliciting. (So they keep e-mail information, even for accounts that unsubscribe).
TGL doesn't even have a website up. They're either amateurs or scammers. Either way, fuck you and your spam, both TGL and Mesosphere. Go die in a fire.1 -
Change of technology. There's one time that the team can't decide what tech to use. So after 2 years of production suddenly we moved from Nodejs to Elixir for server side and MySql to Cassandra for database ... It is crazy that time...
So learning a new language it was so difficult as elixir is functional ... (And I was sucks back then) , and Cassandra is something new to me , which is difficult.
(Hey bit now it is ok ) -
Rant.
Why so many people complain about this lack of a 3.5mm jack? It's 2016 and we still have that fossil of a tech from the early 20th century. A digital device with an analog input... I mean, come on! It's for the future.10 -
Graduated with an Information Technology degree and a friend of mine (who is from a non technical background) thinks I'll be working as a tech support. FML. Then later hits me up with a request to make an app for her startup. Just makes me realise people are so dumb.4

Is it good to be a Linux Administrator, what are good and bad aspect of it and what is future scope so that i can answer myself where do i see myself in 5 years 😂
Currently working at GoDaddy as Hosting tech lead..6 -
Have you ever wondered why the developer part of the tech world is so rich and full of community? Devrant is one example.
Coming from a background of IT and cybersecurity I've never felt this way before. Why the IT and security world isn't as rich?1 -
"it should just work" - one of my tech leads in reference to setting up eclipse for development
i dont want to use eclipse to begin with but its what the monolith we work on works well on, its so awful that it intellij cant necessarily handle it9 -
To my review of 2021 ... a good lesson was learned.
I was doing so much for my company.. late night workings.. team handling.. client handline.. to name a few.. But in december they broke my heart.. Altough after little negotiation I was able to get a good package but somehow I Realized this is the time to switch.
But am at good position in my current company so I just cant go away for few pennies. I have to check for company's culture.. my tech stack.. etc too..
But I am determined to get a good job and packge with Challeging tech stack in 2022.
Hope this 2022 Bring brighter future to all of you .. Happy New year -
Who here has an S/O that is in the tech field with them? Have you ever experienced the bliss of tech talks with someone that you relate to on a romantic level?3

Ten year old Jani found a security exposure in Instagram and Zuck game him $10k. Cool.
He should do a cameo on Silicon Valley and expose Hooli. That would be so funny 😋

So i want to know how finances work for tech companies. There are a lot of big numbers that come up when we talk about a company's finances, but i don't understand why the tech people are so down in the ladder, or why those no.s are not associated with the tech teams
Like here's a statement :
"company x is valuable at $42billion , their annual turnover is $5billion. With a profit of $2billion. The ceo has a worth of $1.4billion and company's share are selling at $1500 per share. Person a,b,c of the company hold's 2,3,4% in stocks and the investor sequoia capital is thinking of providing an investment of $25million"
This is a hypothetical company, but if this company is also providing its members of tech team @$20-200k per annum (depending upon seniority), then is it relatively too less? I mean the company is playing with numbers in millions, people are being attributed with billions and yet a developer has to satisfy in those numbers.
Is it because we are being paid by the no. Of hours/time? Because i want to know what other ways are there in which those managers and ceos and investors are being paid? I have heard far too many stories about devs leaving their jobs and starting businesses, and I don't think its only because their boss was a dick1 -
So first week working as tech support for security cameras. I realize that there are some people who will make you hate your job.
-
Get out of class exhausted af, go to work for what feels like eternity to fix small CSS bugs, leave tired af from boredom, go home and *try* to be productive and learn more tech so I can may be not do CSS my entire life, pass out, drank, wake up exhausted af and repeat2
-
I gave computer tech support to a tech support person.
I don't know how I feel about this...
Like, Yo dawg, I heard you like tech support, so I gave tech support to tech support. -
Found this on my class's Quizlet group for the web design test.
*Now look at the photo*
USE CSS GOD DAMN IT! THIS ISN'T 2003.
It's also about FOUR WEEKS INTO THE SEMESTER AND THIS IS ALL THEY LEARNED.
well, at least theater tech is a class next year, so I don't have to take this.1 -
Me: Why do we do this this time consuming, low value thing?
My tech lead: Because if we don't, a box becomes red on some executive report.
Me: Why is this deadline so important? It's not customer facing or any kind of critical bug/vulnerability?
My tech lead: Because it was a company wide mandate, and we'll show up on some executive report if we're late.
Me: *angry dev noises*
They must dole out lashings to the tech leads and the directors any time we fail to meet some completely arbitrary demand. The act like the world is going to end any time we get too close to a deadline 🤦♂️
Makes no sense that they then turn around and worship the ground senior leadership walks on. I wonder if it's some weird form of stockholm syndrome.5 -
Been wanting to move away from my current job to tech for a few years now, but I've been stuck in this so called tutorial hell for a long time, how would one advance from this?4

podcasts... any recommendations?
I'm just beginning to listen to them and don't really know what's good lol. so any recommendation in general?
and If there's any tech related ones or about software dev it'd be great. tyyy 😄14 -
The time tracking app used at my company was created with Angular JS. Most functionality is quite fast so I can understand why they wanted to go this route. Unfortunately, the clock in section takes forever to load during peak traffic times... which is the only time that functionality is used. Someone found an older section of the site written with server side tech. Now everyone just bypasses the Angular clock in and uses the old one.
You shouldn't use tech for the sake of using it, it should also perform better than what it's replacing.1 -
i am having a feeling that getting into software branch of it industry might be a wrong decision. in my college years, i got to explore different domains in tech :
1. software development : frontend tech , backed tech, mobile tech : somethings i and a million other people know
2. os and internal softwares : os, compilers, processor coding , chip manufacturing etc : don't know what this industry is known but we devs rarely go that deep in the hole
3. the network industry : computer networks , topologies, packets, data transfers etc. again not sure what this industry is but 4g/5g brands/ cisco seems to making a lot of money with this
4. cloud computing, devops, data etc : i guess some backend devs explore this domain too.
5. ai/ml data sciences/web3 : the new fad
6. biotech :?? don't know anything about this at all
7. graphics/management/qa : the other associated sisters of software dev. they are seeing a similar recession
8... ans so on.
i chose the 1st one in my undergrad as my career and now regretting this i am thinking of doing masters to fix my mistake and take a job in some other industry that is still blooming and has a future for sustaining a recession for atleast 30 years.
so any suggestions/experiences?8 -
There is no story of tech support for my mom. Because I don’t live with my parents anymore, and my father is Head of IT where he works. So he does all the IT support at home 😂
-
Tech Lead: I looked at their API code, their devs are so smart. They wrote the whole thing in three lines.
Me: I bet it's super readable!
Tech lead: that doesn't matter they are really smart.
Me: I'm sure they are ... 😒1 -
It's all "Ops" so there's a grey line between "tech ops" and "DevOps" and you can do tech ops easily and have a better idea how to... (Can't remember the right words but what I heard is turn on/off a device)
——Boss, not knowing difference between DevOps and tech support.4 -
So I've been looking for a job in tech but outside the development and coding, but still in the tech niche, something like tech sales if its even a thing, however I've yet to find something like this that isn't either an old post or expired already, or asking for way too much experience, so any recommendations will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,4 -
What are your comments on this line of thought.. you would always find a younger smarter and a good technician in the market than yourself then why do we require dev in software industry with 10+ years experience. Moreover tech itself changes so rapidly to catch hold off..3
-
Tech literature! Why is it so VERBOSE? I noticed I nearly always start shaking my foot and mutter "to the pooooint". And like 50 pages of acknowledgements.2

Hello Devrant! It’s ya boi!
Update. Currently back in school in the Netherlands. Studying law and technology. Yeet.
But yeahhhh so stressed omfg. Finals already in October. This school is a mess.
And I’m the middle of that my thesis got rejected so here I am. Crying. Asking y’all for ideas. Anything you can think of please say.
It’s gotta be tech but a legal question. Ethical is fine too tbh. So if there is anything you’ve wondered or think is of please tell me the question. 😭
all I’ll say is that the last one they said was too vague and not specific enough. And ideally it should be AI or data science but anything tech would do.
Not sure if this is the place to ask but thank youuu.9 -
So I’m very biased against JavaScript. However, beliefs need to be challenged. If you feel like it, convince me that this language is worth using as part of the tech stack.12
-
Where I work I'm close to the receptionist's desk so it means a phone ringing in my head all day.
I usually stay back later just so that I can work when it's quiet. You, other employee, have no soul if you caused a printer jam a full two hours after official quitting time and are now trawling IT for a support tech. -
Am I allowed to ask tech questions? Because I can't get my fucking Acer to dual boot a Linux distribution. Tried mint and lxle. Both require I go into legacy mode to boot them from USB, so I can't install them that way... Any ideas?7

So there was a tech summit and the startup I work for had a stall there.
People waited patiently to try our product and told me that our work was very cool.
I've never been happier!

New job
Week 3: We might assign you to a new Java we might be creating
Week 5: So you might be working with the other team on an webapp.
That team has taken 2 weeks to decide the tech stack to use for the webapp and still hasn't decided.
Week 7: So we have only one role available right now and that's production support.
*Insert ultra rage face*3 -
I have this theory that (most of) tech people (software engineers, developers, devops, etc) are very ok with a working regular smartphone as opposed to non-tech people.
I'm talking like, money not being an issue, we are cool with a Xiaomi or OPPO, etc. As other people feel the need to go for the latest and more expensive iPhone or Samsung.
So, WDYT?
PS: I'm still rocking my Xiaomi Mi A1, it's still performant for what I need it.10 -
So Java is an island and Jakarta is a city in Java, is the future of Java will have smaller portion to the tech world?

A mentor from my pre-tech days passed away. 😭 It’s so sad because it was unexpected and he was in good health. His peers are still into Facebook, so that’s how I was able to piece together what happened.

I was watching an Ancient Aliens episode called "Beyond Roswell". The show described the idea of some of our tech being seeded slowly by introducing alien technology to specific companies. They suggested that computing technology has advanced very fast and introducing this tech could be part of that.
At first I was kinda pissed about this. I have read about the creation of the first transistor back in the 40s or 50s. WWII really advanced our need for computing devices such as what Turing built. Then I realized a lot of the explosion of computer tech did occur after key ET events. This kind of made me wonder how much is "us" and how much is ET tech. I also realized it can take a lot of effort to understand something really advanced. So reverse engineering can take a LOT of effort to figure these things out. Being seeded by external tech does not take away from humans at all.
A parallel to this is a programmer that learns how to use a C++ compiler. They could go their whole career without ever understanding how the compiler itself is doing its job. I find myself wanting to learn how compilers work and started down this path. I look at the simple grammar I have learned to parse. Then I look at the C++ grammar and think "How can I ever learn to do that?" So I see us viewing potentially advanced things and wondering how the heck can we ever learn to do that. The common reaction when faced with such tech would be disbelief and in some cases ridiculing the messenger. When I was a kid the idea of sending a picture over a phone was laughable. Now this is common and expected. It was literally a scifi concept when I was a kid.
So, back to the alien tech. I am now thinking it would be cool to be working with alien technology through computing. This is like scifi stuff now! So what if what we have was not all invented here (Earth). If anything this will prepare us programmers to get jobs working for alien corporations writing ship level programs and brain interfaces. Think of it as intergalactic resume building. 😉 -
Do you know some good tech RSS,Atom,... Feeds?
Anything about programming, operating systems, hacking, Hardware would be welcome.
But please not something trash like nixcraft, where every article amounts to "How to do this very basic thing that is literally a oneliner but we felt its so complicated, it justifies writing an article about it."2 -
So, the clock in system at my current, non-tech job, experiences overhead when a total of 25 clients try to access it. I assume this is to do with the limited number of available ports, but 25 staff members isn't a whole lot.
-
With stock market down, I want to get into some future tech trends cheap but which ones are good.... honestly don't think I can make much unless the prices jump 50-100%...
I see clean tech and 5g, but not really sure what 5g means. Not sure what the wow factor is...
Clean tech feels like we need to do it or we're screwed though I was also thinking about buying oil... But that's probably b not a good long term.
Crypto I don't think it doing to well and sorta goes against clean tech? So what else is there and thoughts?20 -
How is your experience using twitter to follow tech community ? i'm tired of seeing tech influencers trying to promote tech stacks to attract sponsors and get some pocket money + people sharing garbage tweets so they can grow their followers base + people/companies trying to overengineering even small things so they appear cool, twitter become the new instagram for developers1
-
Had an internship interview earlier this morning, it's a newer company just getting started says they don't have any technical aspects or employees yet so any programming interns would build the tech side up from scratch. They pay would start at $15 an hour with a guaranteed job at the end. Location is easier to get to than school.
I got an offer 20 minutes ago, I like the opportunity but I'm worried about them having college interns build the initial tech setup and work flow without supervision of a more experienced IT person2 -
How do I deal with a lead who was hired to lead a predominantly backend team when he's just an average frontend dev. He's so afraid to try new tech and so reluctant to learn. Plus most of the junior developers are better than him. He even tries to shift the blame on other devs. It's so hard to deal with the guy. Our old lead was so much better the guy was a really bad hire zzzzz.1
-
So as we start to scale we are recruiting "a lot" of profile on the tech part. And for fuck sakes it's complex while covid shit storm!
No pub for the first tech interview, no late restaurants, a lot of "let's wait till next quarter"... Fuck....
And the worst of the creep is that I "have" to stalk/spam some profiles for the "hunt", and I'd like to clean/purify myself afterward... -
Our new coming tech VP does not know how to SSH with a pem file. He cannot fix the permission issue even after shell clearly tells him so. What is wrong with my company ><2

I switched all desktops upside down on the computers of my not so tech savy friends. Also opened the cmd prompt first

So, I feel wayyy behind the tech curve right now.
The SSD implementations you see online, they're still just a bunch of seperate sort of chaos machines that contain the standard perceptron-like model of a weight, cost, and bias right ? They just kind of inferred their values by training like any other neural network, in its sep-erate parts and just fed pieces of output data generated by other parts of the neural network to it right ?
I mean it implements with pytorch so its basically a really big array of tuples in a sense that are maniupulated in a specific way.
and then CNN's just feed data back into another trained piece of the model right ?
I'm curious because object classification is about the ONLY thing I've seen work even close to properly lol
there is just so much fraud these days. sigh.
and so many lamentable tech choices and attempts... like node lol -
So I have a question. Currently stuck with php and it seems declined. If not say declined in the near future. The rise of front end and nodejs, go, ect. It seems my stack degrade s everyday. I do side projects with latest tech. But when job interview asks commercial experiences with latest tech. I have none. Rejected. Is it any solution?3

I'm a complete noob in this tech world so finding a job it's getting hard (for me).
I applyed to be a highschool teacher so they made me some tests and apparently i'm too narcissistic for the job, although they recommended me to try tech related stuff.
Soooo... Did i hurt your feelings, because teaching wasn't my first choice?
Still looking for a job. -
Watching Minions which mentions av lot of the minions by names.... So far I've identified the names of a coworker, head of tech, a client and my dad...

Not so tech savvy family member just asked for the router password to set up a network printer. I just hope they don't fuck up my settings (ip's and port forwarding and such) o_O
