So lately I’ve been sending an http request with ajax instead of using classic form submit. Pdf and images need to be converted into byte64 string then send it to the backend, problem is if the size gets too big chrome crashes and showed me ‘Aw snap’, but it works on firefox. Thr file is size could be 3 to 100 mb (for pdf). So my question; is this my problem or just browser limitation?16

Today a tester asked me to make a modal smaller. I read the code and saw modal size was explicitly set to "large". So I was about to set its size to default but I asked myself "what if I enter a random string there?" and I set it to "not-so-big". UI framework handled it well and actually set its size to default. I'm keeping the code that way for future laughters.

CSS quick maffs:
Using viewport units to define font size but sometimes it's too small?
Instead of font-size: 10vw;
use font-size: calc(10vw + 20px);
This will make sure that font size is AT LEAST 20 px no matter the viewport width. Treat the resulting font size like a function of viewport width and feel free to experiment with it. With calc in that case you can achieve the best typeface responsiveness possible.13 -

ppi is a measurement of sharpness.
Resolution is the depth of pixels.
Size is width and height mesured in units.
Aspect ratio is the... ratio of width to height.2 -

FireFox: nu uh, there's a magic random 1px margin to every element on your page now, which you cannot find in your css or in the computed tab. It's magical.
Me: weird, what if I change the viewport size to the iPhone 6's dimensions?
Issue persists.
Me: hmm, what if I add or substract one fucking pixel from the viewport width or height?
FireFox: What 1px margin? Don't know what you're talking about ... There never was one...
Me: ok, weird (sets viewport size back to the iPhone 5 format for testing)

I'm at a loss. I really am. Been clicking and unclicking almost every responsive part of my css I could find for this page and it just doesn't want to work persistently. And I swear to god that it worked a week ago in that exact viewport size. It's so frustrating.

Trying to learn C and thought a easy file copy was a good start. The program read the size of the file, reserved that size in memory, can copied data there and then to the new file. For some reason I never thought that the file might be bigger then available memory... Took a couple of BSOD to find that "bug".3

Affinity Designer export to SVG, normally an easy task for a vector programme.
Furthermore it is only a little picture, a clear eight filled with a single colour.
Result: SVG with an unbelievable file size of 98.7 kB. Holy shit!
Looked at it: The export made a huge long high scaled path... oh man...
Little hand made recoding, made four circles. Done. New size: 0.8 kB.

I was copying data from a failing zfs drive with rsync and I noticed that it spent a long time on the file ~/.local/share/Baloo/index
du -h index showed a 500ish MB file which didn't seem large enough to take this long.
I recalled that du shows disk usage, not file size and since I was using zfs compression they could be quite different.
so I added -A for apparent size:
du -hA index and it comes back with 1.7E
The file was 1.7 exabytes...6 -
A full 4 level page table on x86_64 is over around 687 GB in size. Allocating it fixed size obviously won't work...
So now when allocating virtual memory pages for an address space I sooner or later have to allocate one page to hold a new page table... which has to be referenced by the global page table for me to use... where there isn't any more space... which is exactly the reason we allocated a new page in the first place... so I'm fucked basically8 -

3. Use this as prompt/finetunning data.
4. Train and prompt on project descriptions relative to feature size and number of contributors/changes in the changelog.
5. Package and release a model that takes descriptions of ideas and generates reasonable estimates of time and manpower.
6. Optional, sell as an estimate service to corporate and make money introducing some sanity to the world for a change.10 -

Got the iphone mini cuz I was ecstatic to have a small phone that I could use on one hand on the IOS ecosystem.
Found out that apple might discontinue the line for the next iteration due to "poor sales".
It really doesn't matter to me what operating system I am using for the phone, I wanted to give the IOS ecosystem a go with the release of this model. But man it kinda hurts that everyone is hell beant on large screens. Even the standard pixel phone feels too big. I do not want a "tiny" phone, even if one of my favorite Android devices was my Sony Ericsson XPERIA. To me the size of the iphone 5s was perfect. I just want companies to go to that again man. And I do know that there are models for Android that are capable of reaching similar sizes, its just that finding a premium level experience on a phone that size from the Android size gets hard to adjust to carriers etc.
I am liking this little fucker though, very speedy, nifty, decent battery time, camera etc.18 -

I've copied a folder(size: 10.7GB) to external HD, and it's occupying 154GB on external disk.
yes, the folder has a lot of small files in it. but ..
Surprisingly, the same folder occupy 10.8GB on internal HD. and that drive is not compressed.
I defragmented external HD, problem still unresolved.
* allocation unit size is default(4096B) on both the disks. both are NTFS

Devrant bug: If the screen size is changed (by resizing app in multi-view) content disappear.
Apps should be able to cope with screen size changes during runtime - check android documentation, especially for Nougat.

Not really the language, but i hate how sbt works, it compiles small projects instantly, but really slows down at a certain size, and it seems very deterministic. It stays the same speed after that, but once you hit that project size it just immediately starts being slow. -
I really love Ubuntu Mono and similar fonts, because they're nice to look at while coding, so I tried to use it in Emacs.
Man, what it produced is just... disgusting! I couldn't see anything even in Ubuntu Mono "normal" version (not bold, not italic) with size 10 (my normal size).
In smaller size I almost couldn't recognize characters in code, in bigger it yelled at me I'm blind. Wtf emacs...6 -
Google's PageSpeed is recommending that I reduce the size of a 109kb photographic image to 2kb, which would definitely reduce its size...to a blurry, pixelated mess. Is it all just robots over there programming this stuff now? Doesn't anyone know how to sanity check their code around these types of logical inconsistencies?3

What is a good application for reading PDF's on phone? I want a PDF viewer that makes it possible to change font-size. The text in my PDF's are really text - not an image. I can select the contents with Samsung Notes for example. If a reader is a able to select it, there must be a reader that changes the font-size right?

I've got Linux 3DS working now, but I have a size limit of 60MB for my zImage. Is there a way to mount a file via loop as, say, the root directory, so the image in RAM is unloaded and it executes from SD/NAND? If not, anything similar?

What font size do you normally use for programming?
I've been using 12-14px for years, but I switched to 16px for the last couple of hours. Feels weird but I kinda like it.
Sure, you do lose some real estate but it feels like it's way easier for the eyes. Less physical strain == less mental strain, which in turn makes for higher quality code.
Also, selecting stuff is more satisfying, but that's probably just me since I'm weird ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

WTF Windows?
If you call the API function to lookup the name of a service it expects a buffer and the size of the buffer.
If the supplied size is smaller than the service name it returns the number of characters (excluding the null-terminator) of the service name.
You can allocate a buffer for the service name and call the function again to receive the service name.
Except now Windows wants to know the size of the buffer including null terminators.
That took me a moment to figure out. -
I have been fighting with text shimmering problem in Unity UI for a VR app. Have tried textmesh pro and tried playing with 'Dynamic pixels per unit' as written in unity forums, but no use😑. The text looks ok when normal size but lowering size causes it to shimmer and unreadable.

Comparing human size to a dinosaur on a scale of height is the dumbest thing I most often see online.
Yeah well, 65 million years ago, there was more oxygen on earth than today, which means we would be larger as well (if we existed at that time).
A majority of that oxygen got burned up because of them meteors that wiped out every land mammal, which is why we are now the size that we are. Less oxygen means lesser sized creatures.

Worst dev tech, it has to be MS Word. Apparently they follow the OOXML guidelines to create a Word doc but they have to put in their own shit-flavored ingredients to increase a developer's misery. Parsing that document is pure agony.

ioctl with FIONREAD as request
it returns size of bytes ready to read, but to store that size it requires pointer to int passed in va_args
when i want to malloc a memory using that size i need variable of type size_t which is 8 bytes on 64-bit system
why do this types mismatch? if ioctl returns size with FIONREAD request it should accept pointer to size_t variable in va_args -

on DOS 6.22 it just partitions it immediately, on Win98 it updates drive letters and immediately formats it as FAT32 if a partition is defined as being bigger than 2GB
syntax is as follows
