Search - "get a job"
-
Sir, please write a simple program, just a very basic one.
me: Writes Hello World in Python
Didnt get the job.14 -
I FINALLY DID IT!! I landed a job!! I'm going to be a firmware engineer!! Woohoo!! 😁
It only took half a year, but I finally got one, and purely off my own merit. It feels damn good when you get the job with no references or connections, just your own skills.
After a highly successful on-site technical/whiteboard interview, I was 90% confident I'd get it. The fact that my job search is finally over, is such a fucking relief. Good riddance to endless interview prep, applications & rejections.
I start on Monday. Goodbye freedom >.<19 -
A: Why did you leave your job?
B: To pursue my passions.
A: Which passion?
B: Jobs. I leave one and get another.
Software Engineers I tell you!2 -
Me: Sorry X I won't be able to continue my job search. Currently in hospital got hit by a car.
Recruiter: I'm so sorry to hear that hope your recovery goes well.
2hrs later
Recruiter: just a catch-up - when did you say you're getting discharged?
😐6 -
Just got an email that i dodnt get a job.
But guys... Your 'selection process' took a month. A literal month. I already got an other job 2 weeks ago.4 -
**Looking for a job**
Sees a posting saying 20+ years Linux experience....The hell, why don't you just get Linus to do that job... -
Convincing my parents that I'm doing something useful on my computer and that it can also help me get a job5

Life is about spamming. Want to get into a relationship? Spam every girl you see and like in the streets and ask nicely.
Want more clients? Spam.
Want a job?
Tell everyone you know, that you search for a job.
Send a resume to every company you desire. Spam.8 -
Manager A : "You've done a great job, you'll get a X raise"
Manager A: "I was not able to negotiate it, but you'll get a X bonus to compensate for it"
*Manager A leave the society*
Manager B: "A bonus? Never heard of it"
Me : Resign.5 -
I cannot find a job because I don't have experience and I cannot get experience because I don't have a job.
-- Ancient Chinese Proverb5 -
So far this month I applied for 15+ game development related jobs, and spent ages carefully crafting customized cover letters and resumes for each particular job. Didn't get as much as a "thank you for your application".
Then, for the one random job application I applied to on LinkedIn using my most generic resume, and no cover letter, I get a near instant response and an invitation to coordinate day/time for an interview in person. Wtf.
Anyway, hope I get the job, because I'm running out of food.12 -
Riskiest Dev choice...
Leaving a previous job, moving 1000KM (620 Miles) away with no job prospects and going absolutely broke.
This was all in the name of “I need a better job”, so what better way to force yourself to get one.
I’m currently in my second job since then and now make just over double what I was earning before.
Sometimes it takes a high risk to get out ahead.4 -
I quit my job, moved back home and will be studying my butt off and creating an impressive portfolio for the next 6 months to get a dream 100k+ remote job.16
-
Need job to get job experience..... Need job experience to get a job. Who the fuck designed this system.
Fuckinggggg Sadists
Arrrghhhh17 -
I got a job. A job where I get to sit in front of a computer. I don't know what I'm doing yet... Developer is in the job title description. I'm scared. I'm excited. But most of all, I'm really glad that I get to stop stacking boxes for a living.17
-
I'm gonna have a job interview in my dream company tomorrow.
Agile, Java, an awesome atmosphere and much to learn.
I hope I will get that job.12 -
Asked my boss if I could get a promotion... He said I will get the job I deserve and make me CNEO.
When I asked what this is about, he said "Chief Nullpointer Exception Officer"....1 -
I work retail as a second job. I still have people asking me if they can get new computers running XP or Vista.2

Plan A: Get software job in foreign country. Migrate and get citizenship there.
Plan B: Start a business in foreign country and get citizenship.
Plan C: Marry a foreign citizen, get citizenship.14 -
Bucket list!
- Host my current webapp project.
- Hit 2k ++'s
- Achieve Zen, a few times
- Start a new remote job
- GET A NEW LAPTOP
- GET A GIRLFRIEND (The recurring item)
There's alot more, but for now these should do.8 -
When you get a mail from a recruiter for a Java job, because you have JavaScript on your LinkedIn and it's obviously the same...4
-
My dad was a computer engineer, taught me a bit, my high-school boyfriend (now husband) studied computer science, and I studied liberal arts. I couldn't get a job but got at job at my husband's startup. I learned a lot on the job and started doing tutorials online and I am the only person in my MA cohort with a job. Always been comfortable in the tech/dev world but didn't get into it myself until last year.2
-
Another crappy job advertisement this time courtesy of Glassdoor: get spammed to death by job ads.
So it says graduate software engineer but they want someone with ideally 1 -3 years of B2 experience, seriously how is this fair?
Like with my other job ad rants:
What a fucking joke, lol7 -
Got a notification for a new job. Apparently this is a junior position. I just wonder what else you have to know to get a senior position in that company10
-
hardest part of finding a job related to ur developing skills is that theyre asking for years of experience
fucking hell thats why im looking for a job to get more experience3 -
Applied for a £22k Web Developer Job Php laravel in particular and get tasked with this.
Well that isn't hard.31 -
I can't get a job because I don't have experience because I can't get a job because I don't have experience because I can't get a job because THEY WANNA HIRE A JUNIOR ROCKSTAR CODER WITH 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN ANGULAR9
-
> scrolling through facebook feed
> see ad to apply as an app developer at carrefour
> "you might win 300€ to spend at carrefour"
> "we're searching for an app developer"
> apply
> first test is to make a button that adds stuff to an HTML list, very basic
> pass the first test
> get an email: "you can candidate to the next phase and might get a job"
MFW I just wanted to get 300€ and not a job5 -
If naming classes, methods and variables in your (not english) native language seems like a good idea, please get another job.9

Avoiding bad companies starts at the job interview. Remember that the job interview is not only for them to evaluate you, but also the other way around. Make sure to ask a lot of questions. What are they doing, how are they working, what help is there if you get stuck, are they doing code reviews, what will you be doing etc.
The job interview is the opportunity for you to get an inside view of the company. Don’t just accept any job because you are desperate. Luckily qualifies devs are much needed in companies.
Also, make sure to go to multiple job interviews so you can see the differences. I think it can be difficult to avoid in the beginning, but as you get more experience, you can sort of tell whether it’s a good or bad company at the job interview.
Though sometimes you are just unlucky. In that situation: leave. It is so good damn easy to get a job in this field.3 -
I'm back bitches! And I'm having a second interview today! We'll see if I get the job! Wish me luck8

Long time lurker, first time poster.
My goals for week 200:
1. Get engaged to my girlfriend
2. Finish my ems
3. Begin plans for launching my startup
4. Leave my deadend retail job, get a real job, and actually use the degree I spent 34k to get.
5. Keep learning cool new shit.1 -

I’m 42 years old and you can't imagine how complicated it has become to get a job in Latin America, they make you feel old and disposable. But I have a son to raise and I will not rest until I find a better job.12

The paradox of not having a college degree, having programming skills, but not being able to get a job.10
-
I have now an interview for a part time job as dev-allrounder beside my CS-studies.
I hope I get that job.. 🙏🏼6 -
How many times have I ask my boss about the new project's deadline only to get "it has to be done by yesterday". Damn, boss, if you know, that we are occupied, then don't get a new project, only to blame the coder for promising an impossible deadline to the client!2
-
Someone put my name on a mailing list for pornographic material to try to get me fired from my new job6
-
Been short listed for a dev job... proper freaking out as if I get it, it will be my first front end job in the industry 😩7
-
!rant
I used a devRant-themed presentation I had to give about myself to get my job. This was one of the slides3 -
Some free time at the weekend. My immediate thoughts are "Ooh, I could get some work done to get ahead on Monday"
The cons of your job as a hobby! -
You always develop on a Mac, you get a great job offer, and on your first day, you find out you will work on a windows pc.12
-
If you want a New Zealand developer job, you need a work visa. If you apply a work visa you need a job offer to get enough points...6
-

How easy is to get fired from a Dev job? 😛 I'm afraid of that happening every time I introduce a bug lol4 -
This is my current dev/personal desktop, im not humble, im just poor! I just need to finish my studies so I can get a job!11
-
The whole "first job" and "experience" situation is fucked up.
How on God's green earth am I supposed to get tucking experience if you cock suckers won't hire someone for their first job? Like fucking hell.
It's not like I'm going for a "skill demanding" job... I'm trying get a fucking cashier job. I'm fairly certain I can run a cash register and stock the shelves of a store without any experience doing it. It's not exactly rocket science...
I just need some fucking money.6 -
So I decided to get a master degree at my capital city (I got my first degree from my small hometown), and decided to get a job as a junior developers. I tried for an easier job like starbucks or something but apparently all of them turn me down as soon as they asked “What major you graduated from ?”
Never though I would start a career in software developing. Any tips I need to know about this job? (I can actually code quite well and my class starts at night)2 -
1. Actually focusing on developing stuff instead of learning languages.
2. Having fun instead of trying too hard.
3. Get a good job.2 -
Starting at a new job in another city tomorrow. Both scared and excited. Just hope I can get some sleep!3
-
Nope, in my place it is...
1. Chrome
2. IE
Thank me later when you get a job here, probably shouldn't8 -
And I thought dealing with recruiters couldn't get worse..
Applied for a job, get a call back a short while later. Recruiter guy has zero details about the job, but needs some background info. Then says he needs a few more things, it'll come in an email. Calls me 5 minutes later asking why I haven't replied yet, told him im not home.
Get home, check my mail.. please send full address, social security number and a copy of both sides of my photo ID.
Nooooooooooooope. Email back, say no can do.. no replies, job listing deleted a few hours later.2 -
As a fresh/recent graduate, how I'm supposed to get a job if the minimum requirement for an internship or entry-level job is 2-3 years of working experience! And why the fuck my open source and personal projects don't add any value to my experience!9
-
the moment you get a job offer from am fortune 100 company but its in another country and you cant move because of wife and family ... :-/9

When someone tells you how to do a job but they cant even get to your basic level to even begin with1
-
1. Master react
2. Finish my grad thesis
3. Get a react dev job
p.s. Not necessarily in that order.1 -
I wish I was one of those brain dead sheep that study hard, fall in love, take selfies, get a job , go clubbing, get married, attend cocktail parties and make more brain dead sheep....4
-
- be any programmer hired to a job
- do some cool thing that helps the business
- gets labeled as a smart programmer and a helpful team member
- get questions and cries of help from everyone at the office
- get burnt out and refuse to help some people
- get labeled as lazy, bad at my job, and having a bad attitude
- gets shadow fired
- cycle repeats
It’s time to burn down the houses of every rich person - and I hope we actually fully commit this time :)8 -
I hold most devs in high regard, here in devRant too. Please tell me none of you feels this way:

Get a fucking job if you wanna get paid. Jesus...17 -
Resigned from a job I got before my last semester of Masters where I worked almost two years. Boss started acting bad at the end and my work was really stressful.
Now I don't have a job and running out of money.
Have a job interview next week where I have a slight chance of getting it. Hope ai get it!4 -
- Hey, that envelope seems important, did you get a job on NY or something?
- Better, I got stickers!1 -

Not me but my husband @WhAtEvErYoUmEaN keeps updating our pillows, doesn't like certain customer servers and tends to tell our cats to get a job/ point them to job counseling.4
-
Interviewing is much harder than it was even a few years ago. I go into it knowing I probably won't get the job. It may sound negative but it relieves the pressure. I also make note of what I didn't do well on so I can work on it. Last year I wanted to leave my job so I would go to interviews at lunch and do phone interviews in the parking lot. I was turned down for soo many jobs. Just a couple of years ago I could get a job in one or two interviews. Things have gotten more complicated. It used to be if you knew even a little about a backend language and a little sql you could easily get a job. It has all changed. I think the javascript framework of the month thing has only made it worse.6
-
Started a new job today. Now to get used to all the new coding standards and ways of working...
At least I received a welcome pack full of booze to help me get through it :)3 -
The job market is lol
Graduated 9 months ago, working minimum wage jobs and applying to jobs, never getting an interview! I finally get a job in my field, and within my first week on the job I get calls for 4 interviews, all paying more than the job I took
On top of that my parents think my salary is way too low but beggars can't be choosers right4 -
Probably gonna quit dev and get a job outdoors. Dev sucks dick, is too boring, and it is too political for me23
-
Dev friend: Happy in your job?
- Me: Kinda, don't see myself doing it for another 35 years tho.. :(
Dev friend: Go back to school, learn computer sciences and get a dev job. You'll love it.
So now I'm back in school, no regrets whatsoever. Without a doubt best advice.. :) -
One time I got an offer for a job I had found through a recruiter. When I wasn't sure if I was going to take the job, and it became clear to the recruiter that he wasn't going to be able to convince me, he had his "manager" get on the phone to try to tell me why I needed to take the job. One of the reasons was "because I was a recent college graduate and wasn't a CS major (I was a minor but had a lot of experience), this was the best offer I could get." It thought it was pretty sad that they resorted to insulting me to try to get me to take the job so they could get their commission. Sleeaaazzzyyy.2

Find what you want to build. Watch some videos. Code. Grab some books. Code. Find some friends to code. Code.
And learn some theory to improve your code. Code.
Get a job. Code. Get paid.1 -
* get a good job *
* my room==my computer lab *
* iphone + vespa + sexy jacket *
* not died in terrorism * -
The very first sentence in my profile on many freelancing and networking sites is "I am not looking for a full time job at the moment!" I still get fat to many job offers from recruiters, who apparently cannot read.1
-
As student in Belgium in computer science I finally become a freelancer !! I am now officially a developer who get paid for his job :D8
-
I just had a 3.5 hour interview last week. Chatted with the owner for an hour and we were laughing and joking around... Didn't get the job. Still don't jave a job.6
-
When i get a lot of clients for freelancing projects to the point im paid more for freelancing than i am at my full time job.
-
I'm starting a new job in a month!
I'm simultaneously excited and anxious about it.
Excited because I get to work on some new cool projects, use new tech, get great pay and benefits, and it really seems like a great place for me.
Anxious because I am currently on sick leave with stress, because my current job wore me down. Not so much the tasks themselves, but the atmosphere and attitude of management. So I have to hope that I can manage to get enough rest in the coming month that I am well enough to perform well at my new job.4 -
I've concluded you can't get a job these days unless you're some fucking wizard. It's always the response: "We found better candidates than you".13
-
get a remote job
get remote login details
.........
the whole system doesn't speak your language
😬😬😬3 -
I'm tempted at some point to get a non-dev job. After about 2 weeks I could automate everything then just slack off.5
-
Sometimes I get me thinking that the only coworker I consider real dev is the intern.
Really looking forward to go to a real coding job.2 -
It's the day when I get to know the tension before a job confirmation call.
It's 7 am in morning . The call is at 10.00 clock.15 -

Urgent: I got a coding camp JavaScript Instructor job very well paid expects answer tomorrow. I got another company wants me but they don't have offer as they must get permission from the CEO for a developer job. The developer job would pay less than instructor job
I don't know what the fuck to do. I would like the dev job for experience but I haven't worked for 3 fucking months.10 -
Does anyone know if it is possible for a recent graduate to get a remote job? Want to work and travel on the way.1

Need to get a good job working remote so that I can move to Guatemala with my wife and have an adventure while we're still young1
-
My family thinks I really need to stay away from the screen and get a life.
I really don't know how to explain them my job. :/1 -
Been a really long time since I posted on here. Sucks when you get stuck in a lab that bans cellphones.
BUT I got a new job now. No classified stuff. I can actually talk about what I do specifically now!!! And after a week I can almost maybe do my job one day.7 -
I hate infrastructure prima-donnas. "Prove the thing you haven't built yet won't use too many resources!"
Seriously, buddy, get a real job. Provisioning hardware is a software problem now. Help or get out of the way so we can deliver. -
best boss!!
Something positive for a change and hopefully the notion that you can fire your horrible boss! (i.e. get another job because you are awesome!) -
I fucking hate my job! This site sucks ass and I have no motivation to work on it! Would love to get a new job with a fresh sleek site, but unfortunately my autism kicks in bad during technical interviews. Oh fuck me!5
-
Grass is always greener on the other side.
Whatever your problem.. my advice:
Time to get a new job! -
When you apply to a job and almost, but not quite, have all the skills needed.
Whelp! Time to get my Google on! -
Fuck ...Got a call for a job I applied and windows goes on fucking update and had nothing to say much about job cause I could not get to see or print job description. Fuck windows4

Side project I wish I could finish... updating my resume and building a portfolio so I can get a new job.1

We should get @dfox on YouTube with the notifications because when I get a notification its instant good job dude 😀. But youtube takes like 30 min so I can get the notification7

What the Fuck is with recruiters saying you need more experience to get the job?! I'm applying so I can GET said experience! As a perfect metaphor: a college course should not have itself as a prerequisite or else nobody can take it!
It's a stupid catch-22 that I'm stuck in, from which there is no escape until I land that first job... 😒 -
Want to develop myself by working abroad for better experience, can't get a job abroad because I don't have enough experience.4

programming is like robbing a bank; without proper preplanning you wont finish the job and get money

How many devs here never joined a college and now are in good place in a company or freelancing? How did you get your job?5

Everytime I consult with senior devs on how to transition from my sysadmin job and get my first dev job they always tell me to get a CS degree.
Look. I will get that fucking degree eventually. But I want to build up dev skills and learn from a company before killing myself over math crap for 3 years. But it's like a vicious cycle. Every junior position I apply to rejects me because I have no degree.
I'm fucking frustrated and depressed.
What should I do? I want to break from the IT meme and get a dev job.
In the meantime I'm doing small projects and freelancing in my very little free time. But I feel I'll never truly be a developer until I work as one professionally.4 -
You! Yes you.
I'm sure you know a lot of things I don't, even tho I have a pretty decent education and job.
Universal justice wouldn't be that I get fired and you get my job. You getting a (better) job would be universal justice.
So I wish you best of luck.1 -
Get a job as a junior developer, after you get a certification you'll be a regular, yay, we'll pay for certification, yay X 2.

Take a job touting "Unlimited PTO". Get yearly review. Get docked a point for taking more than 3 weeks that year. Why even have it then? Just give me three weeks. (sigh)1

Guys, I need an advise regarding summer jobs:
I have had this awesome summer job for 2 summers as a mountainbiking guide, which is fun, has awesome perks, and pays relatively well.
But it doesn't really net me any useful experience, so should I seek a job as a programmer instead?
I'm studying first year bachelor's, but I have experience, so I should get a job nevertheless.6 -

I would get a testing job and thus exploit weaknesses in the ai- created software.
After finding such weaknesses, I would write AI debilitating viruses and WannaCry-like ransomware until I get my job back!
If that doesn't work out, I'd go into linguistics.1 -
Just because I didn't get the logic of your labyrinth testing script doesn't mean I'm a bad programmer! Why the fuck do you choose which programmers to get with a Shit labyrinth JS script. I got all the programming right and now I probably won't get the job because of this.

So I heard to get a job as a programmer you need a degree in computer science. I looked it up and apparently computer science includes alot of math courses. I'm not good at math and as far as I can see complex math is not needed to be a programmer. Is there any other degree I can take to get a job as a programmer that doesn't require as much math as a computer science degree does?14

So I may be getting a great job offer by the end of this week. The best thing is that it's a remote company since start and they have proper documentation and processes.
The current company has no idea that I am planning to leave. And they are planning some things around me for this month.
Should I hint that I have a job offer hovering around. I don't see anything bad about mentioning that.
1) Even if I don't get the new job, current company might offer to increase salary and accept my demands.
2) I will be able to get out of current job as soon as possible when I get the new job. I don't intend to complete next September at current company.
Any thoughts? Is it wise to mention about leaving before I have confirmation of new job?7 -
