Last time, my friend said CSS stands for
"Custom Sexy Styles" (dig into my older rants)
This time, he said
"Centering Somewhat Sucks"
Now he knows the deal.12 -
If you are stuck at 5 PM, you won't fix it "in 20 minutes". You will rather spend 2 hours trying to fix it and still be stuck. Go home, relax a little. The next day in the morning you will be unstuck!5

Just cloned a 90 GB Virtual Box, 15 minutes later when the clone was 90% done, I got an error message saying that I don't have enough disk space (I had only 80 GB). WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT 15 MINUTES TO GET THAT INFORMATION????4

tl;dr: spent 12 hours creating an api for a job interview challenge. Got rejected after 4 weeks with no real feedback, and all I can do is rant!
So I was in the interview process with a company that was a great fit for my background.
Got through a couple of phone screens, and was given a coding challenge consisting of writing a web API with a couple of endpoints and a filter function.
I'm like, ok no problem, I happen to have created apis for some mobile apps in the past, and I pick Django rest framework to get the job done.
Implemented it on a Sunday, wrote a medium size Readme.md and some unit tests and submit. Took almost four weeks and a partial resubmission to get a rejection with no specific feedback.
Now I'm shamelessly butthurt and I have nothing else to do but rant! Worse part is I looked back at the code and in my opinion is solid AF, so I put it on my public GitHub cause fuck it!6 -
Guy I work with: Hey can I borrow you for a minute
Me: sure. What do you need?
Him: so this is a project me an the other dev worked on
Me thinking: Well I know he did it all and sent you the project so don't tell me you worked on it
Him: so we use it to do this and this and send an email to this new account I made because (2 minute explanation)
Me thinking: I don't care. Just tell me what your issue is! I already know what it is and does from what you told me the last time when you showed me. Which took an hour of my time.
Him: so he sent me this code which is called <Descriptive name> and in the method we have variables call <descriptive name> and it returns a <variable name>
Me thinking: You mother fucker! I don't give a shit what your method is named, what it the variable names are, and you don't need to read through every line of code to me! Just from the descriptive name you just said I know what it does! What the fuck is your issue!?
Him: we also have these other methods. This one is called <Descriptive name> which does...
Me: are you fucking seriously going to read me your code line by line and tell me what you named your variables AGAIN!?
Him: and we named this one <descriptive name>
Me: you mother fucker...
Him: and it calls this stored procedure. (Literally opens the stored procedure and shows me) and it is called...which has parameters called... And it is a select query that inserts
45 minutes later after he finishes explaining all 3 pages of his code and his 5 stored procedures that the other dev wrote...
Him: So anyway, back to this method. I need to know where to put this method. The other dev said to put it in this file, but where do you think I should put it in here? Should I place it after this last one or before it?
Me thinking: You fucking wasted my fucking time just to ask where to place your mother fucking method that the other dev sent to you in a project with only 3 files, all less than 500 lines of code with comments and regions that actually tell you what you should put there and 5 small stored procedures that were not even relevant to your issue! Why the fuck did you need to treat me as a rubber ducky which would fly away if you did have one because you didn't have an issue, you just didn't know where to put your fucking code! FUCK YOUR METHOD!
Me: Where ever you want
Him: Well I think it won't work if I placed it before this method.
I walked away after that. What a waste of time and an insult to my skills and really unchallenging. He's been coding for years and still can't understand anything code related. I'm tired if helping him. Every time he needs something he always has to read through and explain his shit just to ask me things like this. One time he asked me what to name his variable and another his project. More recently he asked why he couldn't get his project he found online to work. The error clearly stated he needed to use c# 7. His initial solution was to change his sql connection string. 😑
He should just go back to setting up computers and fixing printers. At least then he would never be in the office to bug me or the other dev with things like this.7 -

Feeling like I've gone back in time about 15 years!
Just told my CTO about various improvements we could make to the development process. Things like git, continuous delivery, agile project management apps such as Jira, task management such as Gulp, etc.
His response - "never heard of them. I bet they'll pass in a few months. Just another round of fads".undefined continuous deployment git fml i hate my job anyone hiring time travel gulp agile efficiency7 -
Random dev online: Any chance you could help me figure out how to use something the company you worked for wrote? I need to do XYZ
Me: I didn't write it but sure. Theres a doc here about the full process of doing XYZ <link>
Random dev 5 seconds later: But how do I actually do it? The link doesn't show how to do it via code.
Me: You'll find if you actually read it, that it does. Because I checked. Good day2 -
Me: Anytime 9am - 12 my time suits me fine.
Him: Sure, noon our time suits us fine.
Me: *talking to myself* I said no later than 12 my time, theres a 2 hour difference. FFS, uh, I'll have to cancel this, move that around, skip that, ARGH!!! fucking hell jackass ... FINE!!!
...
Him: That calendar invite is for 4pm our time, thats a little too late for us.
Me: ...... but they are 2 ..... 2 hours ahead so ..... oh, thats 10am my time .... oh shit2 -
I have never written a single unit test in my life. Hence my code breaks from time to time. Karma is a bitch 🤣3

Story, !rant.
This memory came up as I was commenting on another rant, and thought it was worthy of a better retelling.
So about a year or two ago, I had just gotten a Software Defined Radio, and was tinkering with it and looking around for cool stuff I could do with it. After stalking planes for a while (caught a 747 over my area 😎) I saw this program that decoded satellite images of earth, coming from the NOAA satellites. I thought this was amazing.
So I waited until one was over my area and let the software do its magic. The image was not great, since I had this set up on the first floor and there was a lot of material between me and the satellite.
So I came to the brilliant conclusion that I'd leave the program on automatic more (it will start sampling when the satellite is near) on my terrace, which should yield better results, right?
Perhaps. Who knows. Anyways, couple hours pass and we are running late to a family dinner. So we book it. Family dinner was great, good food and all, and was having fun, so never thought about my poor laptop, sitting alone in the night.
But then, when I was walking home in the rain... It hit me. I started running. I couldn't believe what I had done. Fast forward five minutes, and I'm out of breath, but home. I run upstairs, and see the laptop just sitting there, lid open, no lights on, and of course soaked right through.
I couldn't believe it. My only piece of tech at the time, and my only avenue for programming, gone. And I was 15, so I wasn't getting another one any time soon. Took it inside and drained the water out of it, and just left it there lying on its side.
Next day it worked just fine 🤣 the battery on my laptop only lasted max one hour, so by sheer luck it had lost power before the rain came. That is the one time I have to thank that battery for being such utter trash.7 -
Me as Junior Dev doing mysql first time, specifically INSERT test data to test db, sucess on first try.
My Senior co-worker says: WOW, Baby's first INSERT...... that sounds so wrong out of context xD -
When I started learning to code I couldn't wait to become a 'senior dev' thinking I would spend all my time writing awesome code.
Now that I am a 'senior dev' and have the experience I now spend 90% of my time documenting & planning and even less time coding :'(9 -
I spend so much time coding on my laptop that my girlfriend starting calling my mac "the other girl" in our relationship.3

Long time lurker, first time poster.
My goals for week 200:
1. Get engaged to my girlfriend
2. Finish my ems
3. Begin plans for launching my startup
4. Leave my deadend retail job, get a real job, and actually use the degree I spent 34k to get.
5. Keep learning cool new shit.1 -
good night my fellow devs....

Its 3:20 am in India now...
Time to sleep9 -
Every time I get a new phone I swear "this time I will keep my browser clean".
One week later dozens of _interesting_ taps opened. 🙄6 -
1. Success in supporting my wife for her personal goals
2. Quality time with my family, especially with my daughter
3. Maintain my current brain abilities2 -
My first times today:
First time a droplet on Digital Ocean.
First time Nginx.
First time trying to separate mail and website servers.
First time using UFW firewall.
First time Ubuntu webserver.
First try all alone configuration of my webserver.
First time installing all the stuff I need on my own, like MySQL, PHP and so on.
First time only SSH access from the beginning.
First time deployment from bitbucket.
Do you have any advise what I should think about. Or what software I will need. Or what I should think about.45 -
Started part time job at a company, had to log my time on timesheets. Said fuck this and now the whole company logs their hours on a custom web based time logging system which I built.5

When discussing how me nearly dying impacted my ability to do my job, I was told I was expected to deal with that in my own time. Expected to take holiday for hospital appointments. No flexi time for fatigue.

How come it is so hard to find good developers. Have been doing interviews for a couple of weeks now (for a senior PHP developer role).
First round is me talking about the function and company, asking questions about candidates experience, wishes and we usually end in some tech conversations. Most of the resumes I got are pretty fucking good. I mean, experience with low-level languages, experience with the problems we need to solve here, contributions to open-source, experience in R and MathLab etc etc. On paper they look perfect.
For the second round I give them an assessment which they can do at home on their own machine in their own time. It's not a hard one, just some mathmatical problems they need to solve. A quick google GIVES the answer (no joke!!). But that's OK, I look at their code cleanliness, proper use of commenting so I can determine if they are solo-developers or fit good in a team and if they abstract repeated functions and make sure that they take their work seriously, you know the drill.
It pisses me off that I get BROKEN FUCKING CODE WHICH DOES NOT EVEN RUN and that I get code back which I look at and makes me vomit instantly, I mean, DO YOU EVEN TAKE YOUR PROFESSION SERIOUS? How dare you to ask for 50k the year, a lease-car, extra bonusses AND YOUR FUCKING CODE SPITS OUT COMPLETLY WRONG ANSWERS OR DOES NOT EVEN RUN WHAT THE FUCK DUDE GO BACK TO FROM WHICH EVER HOLE YOU CRAWLED OUT AND STOP WASTING OTHER PEOPLES TIME WITH YOUR FUCKING INCOMPENTENCE...19 -
My time in devRant is the time it takes for code to build and deploy. devRant is why I don't improve code performance 😎

Last year I was nominated for a reward by some tech internship 'charity' who helped me get my university placement.
It was about having made the most contribution and personal progress. I spent the whole year working solo projects and building small web applications and websites for customers having never written a line of even html before I started.
The girl that won did so because she wrote a couple python scripts to query mysql databases and put it on a table and spent an entire year learning how to do this. Confusingly the judges also told me that programming wouldn't be too hard because it's just copy pasting anyway.2 -
Well, guys... Every time I'm facing a weekend, I expect the whole days just coding, developing my own apps for Android. But in fact I'm loosing my time watching videos online, playing games, procrastinating... What's wrong with me?10

Playing guitar and bass is one of my biggest, also weight lifting and videogames. I have not had much time to read books recently, but I do try and keep up with the novels that interest me from time to time.
The rest of my time is spent with my family. I also like going to my friend's ranch to fish and shoot at things. I love ranching, because, well... Texas. -
Can we please make it a mandatory lesson in CS studies and related education that "No hello" is a thing?
I'm fine with greeting me before you state a question, that is polite. But it is impolite to send a DM "Hello $username" and then begin to type your three paragraph question while the other person waits for you.
Just use Shift-Enter and send it all in one message, the app supports long-ass messages!15 -
i'm writing a custom web server for a project (esp32 based)
each 4 connections system crashes (cannot bind socket anymore)
i was so angry with espressif thinking that was their fault (bad implementation of posix sockets)
but is mine...
today i did another code review and I just discovered that i missed a fucking close() in the websockets handler

i wasted a month on this issue.1 -

Okay it's FUCKing rant time... FUCK you prestashop!
FUCK your utterly bizarre "coding standard"
Also a big FUCK your config files, since when did config files start to include application logic, multiple includes/requires and modification of super-globals. When did I miss that memo?
This file is full of so much FUCKing horseshit, my FUCKing testicles hurt.
FUCK your "module overrides", yes let's duplicate 20-30MB senseless horror code into another folder, just so we can modify one line, without having future updates breaking our stuff.
And your attempt to migrate to a symphony stucture is FUCKing pathetic, do it properly, or don't do it at all.. FUCKtards..
I know wordpress can be bad, but this...
Prestashop takes FUCKing lousy, headache/cancer- giving, piece of crapware to the next FUCKing level.
I wouldn't even wish this FUCKing upon my worst enemy.2 -

I used to do some freelance work for a nonprofit. I’d do some website stuff and gallery sitting.
My friend was the gallery director. When she left, I decided to stop freelancing there and I dropped off the keys with the new director. I told them they could contact me later if they have questions about some things I implemented on the website. The new director thinks I’m a random freelancer and starts to BADMOUTH MY FRIEND, the former director.
Over a year later, the gallery assistant emails me asking about SSL warnings and cc’s the new director. WTF.
1) Those warnings were happening long before I left and long before I even started. 2) I am not your website support. I only invited contact for things I worked on. 3) The assistant already contacted Squarespace and Go Daddy for help and they gave her instructions.
I told her I didn’t set up their website and it sounds like she has the resources to resolve this on her own and she should contact Squarespace and Go Daddy if she needs more help. After all, you pay those companies for their services support and my time isn’t free.rant i didn’t set up your website that was happening before i touched anything my time isn’t free wk291 -

I finished a bunch of coursework yesterday and turned them in so that I could have some time to work on my side projects or self study for a few days before focusing on class again.
Today was gonna be my first day to enjoy this.
I recieve an email with the second batch of coursework thats due in a week. 7 quizzes, two exams, and 7 project labs.
Yeah, fuck you, too.2 -

Forgive me devLords, for I have sinned.
Today, I took while() loop and made it true, it was a dirty ordeal, however it's not entirely my fault, you see the api I called doesn't have a webhook of any kind and doesn't return results in real time either, you have to poll for them..... so here I am writing while(true){} to poll for results that could take seconds or even hours to finish.

One of the downsides of my job is that I do User Support at three levels...
Sometimes they can with a valid support request, and sometimes it can be a easy one, sometimes isn't.
But there are times when they came with an idiotic situation that (most of times) it can be avoided if they can read the fucking message that the application in question show to them.
In those times, I already knew the problem they have by the time they already finished to describe it... In the meanwhile my thoughts go down into a rabbit hole and forgot the whole point of the call 😂
Oh... Well, at least I can fake that I was passing inside a tunnel 😂4 -
I just wrote my final and last exam. First graduate in my family. No more semester. Am so excited. At least I can concentrate on coding now full time time2

Week 10, finally time to relax a bit. Probably not going to work on my project. Fuck my time planning, fuck the day for only having 24h.2 -
I've been thinking of getting my masters degree and now I'm actually considering
- quitting my current full time job
- start the masters in almost full time
- work part time as a barista
Am I insane or could this be an actual option13 -
I would like to have more time to work on the old, lonely, dust gathering site I started to build. There was a lot of new skills I wanted to test and train. But my personal life is getting stressful in the last time. Wife broke her leg and my son started in kindergarten.
I'm starting a new job in Dec, so I quit my current job. I had to reduce my work hours to collect my son from kindergarten. Sounds like I have much time now? Nope, there somehow is few time for programming. I enjoy bouldering (thats where the leg thing happend 🙄) and that's where even more of my time goes.
I see my project become ugly in the meantime, because there are even more new things I read about and would like to use... -

Anyone in here successfully using a pure FP language/ecosystem on their day to day?
I know of one of you that uses Scala, and myself I have an (admittedly) shitty application at work running in Clojure. These last two languages I mentioned are not pure FP.
I am talking about the likes of PureScript, Haskell, etc. Those mfkas.
If so,what is your experience working in said paradigm? I tried to keep my Clojure program as pure as possible, I failed, but enjoyed it.
And I know that FP is not a silver bullet, but in some scenarios when properly applied it can work beautifully. I also have React based applications with pure components, but Javascript itself is neither a functional(pure or otherwise) programming language, it merely supports functional paradigms.
Just wondering, no flamewars or anything like that, I just want to know your pros and cons.6 -

"what are you working on right now?"
I think that question is the one I hate the most.
If A asks that to B, it means A has the authority to do so, you're basically a boss or leader.
But it also reveals insane incompetence, because A has such role, then should already know what B is working on.
I have fantasies of just exploding with a "NOTHING, NOTHIIIIIING!!!! Because you didn't assign me anything"
What the fuck do they want me to do? Go around jerking off to any documentation I can find on google?
Should I just come up with things so that they can be sadly discarded?
I would much rather have dailies, and get guided like "you can do this or that" I feel like I'm just expected to do shit without any actual regqrd for results. As if I was some dog who was thrown a stick to fetch.
But if I don't fetch the stick I get asked like "you should be doing something". I fucking hate it .2 -

2020: I'll complete semesters 2, 3 & 4 out of 6 for my part time MSc computer science while maintaining my current development job.

TD;DR: I have school instead of vacation but 5 hours of spare time. I got my laptop with me and I'll work in school.
I didn't want to take part of the course-trip with the 12th graders (my course sucks, there are too many assholes for the neutral people to compensate). After speaking with the director, and the only condition was to tell the course why. I did deliver them a nicely put "fuck you, you bullied my only friend out of this school" and now is the time where I visit the 11-graders while the other 12-ers are on "school vacation".
I got a "new" plan for the courses I should visit. Today, Wednesday, I have 5 FUCKING FREE HOURS IN A ROW. Oh yes, baby, the teacher generating the plan hates me as well. (He really does but it's probably just unlucky not his fault).
So today, I decided, I would take my heavy-ass laptop with me, in a laptop bag, which doesn't fit into the school bag I have and my laptop doesn't fully fit in the laptop bag as well (sticks out), that's the perks of having a laptop!!
— so I can work on my (I wanna say this once in my life without being a professional) "CLIENTS PROJECT" - the funny thing is that the client is a (really fucking good but small) advertising agency and too lazy to design their own website. Since I had my internship, they know how hard I *can* work even without being payed. Now they do wanna pay me but that's another story.
I'm on the bus and I have this monster of a bag which isn't lighter than a freaking huge bag of rice and I'm so fucking excited for this day. The library is my best friend. Hopyfully I'm going to find a socket for power..
Sorry for so many commas, I'm german. :D3 -

Dear HR people, if you don't provide enough info about the positions that you have at hand forget about me wasting time on call-first acknowledgements to later on realize what kind of waste of time it was!
Sure, making business connections is important but without taking into consideration the other side time is all but respectful, in a professional context.
So, balance your shit and make the call worth the time of all the parties.

How to bring your zsh start-up time from 7s to 0.2s on macOS:
1. Don't call "brew info", piped to grep, piped to awk
2. Don't dynamically detect the current version of brew-installed packages
3. Don't call java_home
4. Actually don't do anything dynamically. Just symlink shit as they get updated
There you go. Don't be like me. Use the "brew --prefix" command and put its output in your .zshrc, instead of running it every time -
(Time to actually code feature + time to debug it + time for unit tests to pass/add) * 1.5
Works great in my case unless there are some big major road blocks -
If he has to ask me one more fucking time if I've updated my daily standup notes in that dumb fucking OneNote notebook, I will burn this fucking country down. I do it every time, on time. Sometimes even before the others. And the box next to my name is checked. Sync your shit, dude!6

Did you ever think time estimations are hard? If so, did you ever try adding your actual taken time months after working on a ticket?8

"Hey, just scheduling in some time for a catch-up today, looks like you've just got focus time so I've scheduled it then"
"Wait, why did you decline my invite?!"
Because I actually need time to focus and do my job, and spending an hour talking to your sorry arse about something irrelevant doesn't trump time I need to focus? Bleh. People. -
I'm studying computer security and learning Linux on my free time, yet at my work I spend most my time in MS Excel and PowerPoint... what even is my life1
-
New to full time front end development from designing. Can you give any tips that would save my time and make life easier3
-
Today is nice... Since the rest of my team is in another country and they're off.
I'm in but I can actually take my time and get shit done at my own pace.
No distractions, no needing to explain things for the Nth time....3 -
Crazy: I had this issue with vc-state reporting 'edited on a visited file even after all changes made were pushed to the remote Git repository in a commit. Looking for answers in Emacs Stackexchange I find someone having the same issue --in a different context-- but with no replies, the question passed unanswered like six months... until now!. Took me one minute this time (I have been dragging this during two years or so) to find out we had vc-refresh-state which solves my issue and the issue of OP in Emacs Stackexchange.
It was a matter of hooking it with some Magit's hooks and you are ready to go!. -
Note: In this rant I will ask for advices, and confess some sins. I will tell my personal story- it will be long.
So basically it has been almost 2 years since I first entered the world of software development. It has been the biggest and most important quest of my life so far, but yet I feel like I missed a lot of my objectives, and lots of stuff did not go the way I wanted them to be, and it makes feel frustrated and it lowered my self esteem greatly. I feel confused and a bit depressed, and don't know what to do.
I'll start: I'm 23 years old. 2 years ago I was still a soldier(where I live there is a forced conscription law) in a sysadmin/security role. I grew tired of the ops world and got drawn more and more into programming. A tremendous passion became to burn in me, as I began to write small programs in Python and shell scripts. I wanted to level up more seriously so I started reading programming books and got myself into a 10 month Java course.
In the meanwhile I got released from army duty and got a job as a security sysadmin at a large local telco company. Job was boring and unchallenging but it payed well. I had worked there for 1 year and at the same time learned more and more stuff from 2 best friends who have been freelance developers for years. I have learned how to build full-stack mobile apps and some webdev, mainly Android and Node.js. However because I was very inexperienced and lacked discipline, all of my side projects failed horribly, and all attempts to work with my experienced friends have failed too- I feel they lost a lot of trust for me(they don't say it, but I feel it, maybe I'm wrong).
I began to realise I had to leave this job and seek a developer job in order to get better, and my wish came true 6 months ago when I finally got accepted into a startup as a fullstack webdev, for a bit lower wage but I felt it was worth it. I was overjoyed.
But now my old problems did not end, they just changed. My new job is a thousand times harder and more intensive than the old one. I feel like it sucks all the energy and motivation that was still left in me, and I have learned almost nothing in my free time, returning home exhausted. My bosses are not impressed from my work despite me being pretty junior level, and I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle that keeps me from advancing my abilities. My developer friends I mentioned earlier have jobs like I do and still manage to develop very impressive side projects and even make a nice sum of money from them, while I can't even concetrate on stupid toy projects and learning.
I don't know why It is like this. I feel pathetic and ashamed of my developer sins and lack of discipline. During that time I also gained some weight that I'm trying t lose now... I know not all of it is my fault but it makes me feel like crap.
Sorry for the long story. I just feel I need to spill it out and hope to get some advices from you guys who may or may not have similar experiences. Thanks in advance for reading this.2 -
I am a beginner and want to code all the time. Even feel my current job useless and waste of time. I should find a job where I can learn, but my knowledge is too basic yet. :/4

I need to practice to get my driving license.
Since I can't ditch work or university, what should I take time from?
- Personal projects.
- Spending time with my girlfriend.
- Gym.
It sucks.10 -
Juat started a redesign of my portfolio & this is first time I've actually been genuinely happy with it. Every other time I just say fuck it and launch with a design I'm not happy with because I wasted so much time trying to make it perfect that I'm not focusing time on client work and losing money.
tldr: stoked on my new portfolio design -
Aaaah, my delighted daily dose of wonderfully not-written-by-me CSS I have to edit from time to time...
I always feel so enlightened after spending time in those files.2 -
Guys, I'm a developer on my own time. I've worked as a Junior Engineer in American Express while still obtaining my bachelor's degree in my second year of college. However I had to quit because full time work and school was not possible. Anyways, I still program and develop websites on my own time, however I just cannot seem to get my first freelance client for technology projects anywhere. Where do I start? How do I do this?1

So, all the jobsoffers that went through the headhunters turned into rejections.
The ones I applied for myself all resulted in success 🤔 makes yyou wonder2 -
Me and my friend are trying to come up with a solution for locust problem..
I decided to make a locust detector using computer vision and he'll make a laser shooter.
Meanwhile in Pakistan they simply paid people to catch locusts and turned them to chicken food.
CS really messed up our ability to think simply.6 -
Spent a few hours optimising a procedure...
It's almost quitting time now, my procedure is returning wrong results in more time...
I hate "productivity" on Friday... -
Keeping the part time offer of my current job to continue doing school full time, instead of reversing that and not having to pay for school3

I'm always way too safe with my time scheduling. I'm right outside the building for a meeting 20-ish minutes before my 5-10 minutes early time I like to do1 -
Me: Why do we do this this time consuming, low value thing?
My tech lead: Because if we don't, a box becomes red on some executive report.
Me: Why is this deadline so important? It's not customer facing or any kind of critical bug/vulnerability?
My tech lead: Because it was a company wide mandate, and we'll show up on some executive report if we're late.
Me: *angry dev noises*
They must dole out lashings to the tech leads and the directors any time we fail to meet some completely arbitrary demand. The act like the world is going to end any time we get too close to a deadline 🤦♂️
Makes no sense that they then turn around and worship the ground senior leadership walks on. I wonder if it's some weird form of stockholm syndrome.5 -
So my processor fan will no longer fit in my mobo, caused by 3 out of 4 stands broken. I don't want to fry my CPU, so won't be using it until the replacement arrives.
Time to experience a different life for time being?3 -
Since I have a part time dev job I have no time for gaming .
My gaming friends must think that I am dead 😢 -
Went to take a shit
But before i rolled my pants down i thought about having to waste time to roll my pants down waste time to sit down waste time to shit waste time to wipe waste time to get up waste time to pull my pants up waste time to back to chair and frankly.... i got quite overwhelmed already so i said Fuck off just stfu and shit inside my guts. And so i did. I refused shitting in toilet and got back to my chair to let my stomach now shit inside me and shit all over my guts. Fuck off. Dont give a fuck. Im too old and too fucking tired to waste so much time shitting. From now on ill have to hold my shit and shit inside of myself until i really really cant take the load and need to dump it somewhere outside my body
So because of that I'll literally walk full of shit. I'll be The Shit. Full of bullshit. Exactly how full of bullshit are the recruiters are the entire job market, and especially, how FULL of BULLSHIT is the ENTIRE CORPORATE WORLD6 -
Murphy's Law of Continuous Integration: If your code finally unbreaks the build, then the build will break because the PGP Key server didn't respond in time.

One of those debugging days where minutes feel like hours, and hours like days.
I had the bad luck of being asked to dive into a legacy project which was unmaintained for months, but of course it's still on prod. And very suddenly the urgent need arrises to change stuff.
Yet: the docker stack won't work. It builds fine but the stack crashes.
Long story short: some internal api URI were renamed and at some point one internal api started to always require an access token. Which we set for the stage, prod env yet somebody forgot to mention that to the devs of legacy-project.
That ain't too bad.
WHAT IS FUCKING BAD IS THAT YOUR SHITTY APP SWALLOWS THE ERROR MESSAGE!
I mean it's bad enough I have to `var_dump && die` your app since you never bothered to setup a xdebug that I could use out of the box, yet egregious fact that your app would catch a valid exception but transforms it into an "internal warning" is borderline insane!
It's ok to throw exceptions. It's ok to let your service die. That's how other will know what and where to fix it. (You may want to restrict the data visible to the outside, but that's a whole different conversation.) -
I'm afraid of trying micro-services for the second time, spent my evening couping playing Far Cry 5 instead :/
(this time with go kit toolkit).3 -
i'm spending my time,
watching the tests go by,
failing them all,
I stare at the wall,
hoping that you won't notice them too,
i'm spending my time -
*When I have lots of free time to code*
My mind: I am so tired for working... Let's finish those project some other time dude.
*When the day before my exam*
My mind: Hey! You have some unfinished projects...Come lets finish those. Don't be lazy...1 -
Not been to any lectures in the past week. Fuck. I just can't seem to fix my routine and wake up on time for any lectures. How do you guys manage time and get to sleep and wake up on time? My routine is royally fucked.4

First time using Sentry is like seeing colors for the first time...

My double time is when I spit rhymes twice as fast
Your double time is when you work twice as long to afford jetbrains and simping2 -
First time pithing about startup concept in startup bootcamp, 2 fucking dead air (fuck....)
but I'm able to finish my pitch in time.
(Feeling relief now) -
It's always hard to balance time between romantic affairs and programming projects when both are going on simultaneously. I've been talking to a girl at my college, and even though she doesn't take up much of my time, I still feel like it's harder to make time for my programming. I guess this is more of dating affecting my code, but I personally prioritize code over dating currently in life.

Got a gig as a consultant (started Monday). Got my first engagement starting next Thursday. First time I've been excited about my work in a long time. Hope it stays that way!! -
In response to my previous rant:
You guys thought I'd have to redo my time estimate to my boss. I'm chill fam.
I just finished the code in about an hour of editing and testing.
Pic related, my face until the next time this thing breaks.
