Best "error" I've ever seen today.
We have a very large database with millions of people, some of those records are duplicates. So I had a long project to write something that would automatically merge duplicate records while allowing employees to review them. Today we had a duplicate show up in the list which should not have.
Same name (apart from one letter), address, employee ID (off by 1 number), same manager, title, phone number, birthdate. But we figured out it wasn't the same person and therefore wasn't a good match.
Turns out they are twin sisters who live together and we're hired by the same manager for the same position at the same time. What are the odds...12 -

I gave you a chance, Nvidia. It could have been a good thing, but no. You are still crap. About two years ago, my son's graphics card (an Nvidia) died, so I thought, I'll give him my nice Radeon card, and got myself a new card. For some reason, reason failed me, and I got a GTX 1070. It's been a nice enough card, and worked well. And then the last driver update happened. Fallout 4 started to CTD before it even booted to the main menu. Me, not thinking (again) thought it was a mod, so I uninstalled and deleted and reinstalled again, with all 120 mods. Nope. Still crashing. Then I noticed, as the game booted, the fans started to ramp up, and I could tell exactly when it would crash be the sound of fans. I was expecting the computer to taxi out the room. Rolled the driver update back to the last one that worked. Now I can log in again, and things are mostly stable. Still crashes, but not as bad, probably due to reloading the mods and missing something. When the RX 3080 hits the market, bye bye Nvidia. You haven't changed a bit over the years. We're through.8

I write a bin packing algo with 100% test case pass, raises pull request to MASTER in < 1 day. Same sde2 does not approve, blocking same day release.

I have habits.
Always use the same cup, with very same amount of coffee grounds. Same four presses with the same fingers on the coffee machine.
Same way I place the cups in my desk. Same way I carry my notebook, same way I dry my hands. Same exact spot I place my card on the rfid reader. Use same elevator, same locker. God.
You name it, I do it on my own particular way.
Thing is, that I think about it. I do it consciously. I am just happier if things stay the way they are. It not just muscle memory thing.

10 hours ago I was trying to install manjaro on my laptop. I have run into problems with the nvidicancer drivers, as one would expect, but at least I had a working OS. I was following a video tutorial that instructed me to tweak some grub settings, and I was able to do it with no problem.
Now on the other hand, I am following the EXACT SAME procedure (same partition, same installer, same settings),but after I update-grub,everything freezes including the command itself.
How is it possible that doing the exact same procedure at different times of the day gives me two different results? Is my laptop sentient and simply "not in the mood" anymore, or what the fuck?7 -

Can't fucking figure out why I'm the only one who can't solve a DP problem in code, when me and friends use the same idea and no one knows why only mine doesn't work...
We are given a task to solve a problem using DP. My friends write their code with the same idea as a solution. Copying the code is not allowed. I follow the same idea but my code won't work. Others look into it, in case they find errors. They can't find any.
The problem (for reference):
Given a fixed list of int's a = (a_1,a_2,...,a_n) and b = (b_1,b_2,...,b_n), a_i and b_i >= 0, a.length == b.length
We want to maximize the sum of a_i's chosen. Every a_i is connected with the b_i at the same index. b_i tells us how many indexes of a we have to skip if choosing the corresponding a_i, so list index of b_i + b_i's value + 1 would be the position of the next a_i available.
The idea:
Create a new list c with same length as a (or b).
Begin at the end of c and save a_n at the same position in c. Iterate backwards through c and at each position add the max value of all previously saved values of c (with regards to the b_i-restriction) with the current a_i, else a_i + 0 if the b_i-resctriction goes beyond the list.
Return the max value of c.
How does that not work for me but for the others?? Funny enough, a few given samples work with my code. I'm questioning my coding ability...6 -

A weird thing happened when I tried to install linux mint on my PC.
Although I installed it on a hard drive (I have another hard drive for windows), my bios tells me that Linux would be on the same hard drive as Windows?? I can assure that it's not the case, as I plugged out the linux drive and grub couldn't boot Linux anymore, just windows. Plug back in, linux bootable. Ok fine?

Jenkins, why you be so fucked up? The same pipeline file runs in one folder, but fails at the root of the Jenkins server. It's the same code! Literally, the exact same code, I just moved the job into a different folder.2

After few weeks I got back to an Electron app. Rebuilt the thing, copied fresh binaries to a Win 10 VM, and the app doesn't even start, it instantly crashes. Literally nothing changed - libraries (and their versions) are same, source code is the same, node version is same, it was built on same machine, VM wasn't even started since then.
Tried a fresh Tux binary, and of course it runs fine.
