it finally happened, PM/PO/SM is now also dev シ
each standup he now also gives update about his work in progress, with his diligently designed subtasks, perfectly sticking to the daily script, like a good well-behaved employee boi. it's weirdly cute
devs can't await to review his first PR. feeling the strong urge to spank his ass for each minor coding style issue or poorly-named variable...16 -
It's weird that this is the community where I'd be posting this, however.
After 16 years of smoking, I tried to quit smoking yesterday.
boi oh boi it is hard 😂 but 2nd day smoke free so far.
From past experiences, I'm almost past the hardest part.
I decided to quit with the first day of lent to have a bit of an extra motivation so if you're into prayer, prayers and good whishes are appreciated12 -
touch this little boi to enable third-person view and meet your maker (but you won't be able to go back)20

Why hello there, your profile mentions you're not looking for an offer and lists PHP as a technology you don't want to work with.
Boi, are you in luck, cause I have that sweet PHP offer for you3 -
Let's say you're working on a web application, and you notice that one of the pages is not displaying the correct data. You investigate further and realize that the data is being retrieved from an API endpoint, but for some reason, the API is returning the wrong data.
You start looking into the code that calls the API and notice that it's passing in the correct parameters, so you dig deeper into the API code itself. After hours of poring over the code, you finally discover that the bug is caused by a typo in the database query that the API is using to retrieve the data.
You fix the typo and think the problem is solved, but then you realize that the data is still not displaying correctly on the page. After even more investigation, you discover that the bug is actually being caused by a caching issue on the client side.
At this point, you're feeling incredibly frustrated and overwhelmed. You've spent hours trying to track down this bug, and it feels like every time you think you've found the root cause, another issue pops up. This is just one example of the many challenges that developers face on a daily basis.7 -
OMFG, Dell, why can't you be normal and make your batteries die like any other batteries - by simply switching the laptop off immediately when the charger is unplugged???
Guess what it looks like when a JD25G (XPS13 9530) battery is dying (still 88% health)!
Constant screen flickering (yes, even in BIOS). Good thing I'm not an epileptic - my screen is fucking strobing!!!
I know it's a battery, because I had the same issue some years ago when I replaced the died original one with a cheapo made by GreenCell. Boi that was fun - I saw my laptop do miraculous things I never would've thought of! Screen flickering was one of them. As soon as I replaced that turd with an original one all these magic powers went away.15 -
Got a chance to work again on a Spring project after a few years of working with JavaSE.
All these horrible memories started rushing back. SpringJPA and its dark magic that only works unintuitively and under very certain conditions...
Ooooh boi. Now I remember. I remember it all.
Why do developers enjoy being squeezed into frameworks and enjoy spending half of a day figuring out how to make the application code compatible with the said framework rather than just writing code that they have full control over...? Masochists much?9 -
I kind of miss abbie boi doxxing randos, avoiding all responsibility, arguing against all reason and just generally making no sense… that was fun.
Now we only have Kaine’s avatar making absolutely no sense at all. So boring…5 -
So on top of having way too many hats at work and starting my master’s studies in a few weeks, I just had an idea for a game that’s too good to not start working on. I am drowning myself in shit to do. Again.

I was wondering what do you guys think about companies which dictates which ide devs have to use.
In my opinion every dev should use what he or she can utilize best no matter if a free or paid license is required for the ide.10 -
Hey guys,
I was wondering what setup (especially laptop/tower) you would use for coding at work it you could chose freely (I know some of you can).
I like the Lenovo thinkpads and like to have at least 16gb of ram (32 are better) and some powerful cpu like an i7. Usb type c, power delivery and useful Linux driver support are must-have.
How about you?15 -
So I was browsing glassdoor the other day to find out opinions about particular company and out of curiosity I also have check my first company I worked for and OH BOI, old memories that were buried and forgotten long time ago, came back after reading just a few feedbacks.
IT WAS DREADFUL PLACE.
To give a context that company has ~80 written negative feedbacks with 12 years on the market and never exceeding 50-60 employees, while other companies I worked for with ~5k employees, more then 20 years on the market have roughly ~100 written negative feedbacks each. -
Its raining season here and Ooohhh boi
The level of bugs crawling and flying around..... Happy not a dev at Nature

Have anyone used machine learning in real world use cases? (would be nice if you can describe the case in a few words)
I'm reading about the topic and do some testing stuff but at the moment my feeling is that ml is like blockchain. It solves a specific type of problem and for some reason everyone wants to have this problem.7 -
I just discover the language Dart (https://dart.dev/) and I think I do not fully get the scope of it.
Afaik it's a language for building cross platform guis where in the past you would have used something like ionic. So am I right that Dart is not quite for web development (as a "replacement" fur js/ts)?4
