* slow typing
* slow mouse movements
* mouse is used for everything
* instead of hitting the back button, they'll load up a website and go through 6 pages again.
* no shortcuts!
Someone lost their tabs today (Windows crashed), so I said "press ctrl + shift + T". They were so amazed that keys could do something so advanced.

A client’s server crashed so they called us. When we checked the logs we found a user was logged in 200,000+ times. We told them the user and a few minutes later we get a picture of a cupcake that was on the enter key. They got cupcake DOS attacked. My team isn’t in charge of the login functionality but I can say the team that is got a fairly aggressive internal support ticket.5

With a long conversation and some frustrating debugging it turned out that, ironically enough, the crash reporter crashed...2 -
My teacher was presenting and her pp crashed. She just continued with her presentation but her desktop was showing. I instantly noticed she had a "stickynote" with her login details for our grading system and I tried telling her to put her laptop to sleep or anything but she got mad at me for interupting class and threw me out of class. My revenge will be showing admins the picture of her desktop ;)6

Client reported the site crashed IE10 when it loaded.

When I was 10 years old, all kids at my school got access to school emails. The email address book contained everything in my city, like fire department, all pupils of all schools etc. So I decided to "test" the system by sending out a mass email to everyone in the address book (about 3k) with the question "Hi, how are you?".
The sys admins apparently didn't think very far as I got some responses saying like "You have crashed a server in the capital city" and "I have contacted your local IT admin".
So I went to the IT admin and told him the situation. His face turned red of anger and I remember him almost screaming at me.
Who the fuck doesn't set up protection for this and gives out access to 10 year olds? This was 15 years ago, I really hope sys admins are smarter today!6 -

The network administrator and IT security officer knows this, because they hired me..
TL;DR a scan caused the network to crash.
Today I received a very angry email going "Stop scanning NOW!" from one of the IT departments.
Apparently I crashed their login server and thus their entire network...
It happened d the first time I scanned the network from the outside and they had spend an entire day figuring out how and repairing the service they thought was the problem, but then it crashed again, when I scanned from within the network.
Now they want to send me a list of IP's that I'm not allowed to scan and want to know exactly what and when I'm scanning...
How crap can they be at their job, if they weren't able to spot a scan... The only reason they found out it was me was because the NA had whitelistet my IP, so that I could scan in peace...5 -

The guys at Google use Microsoft's VSCode for their Firebase. Also they use Typescript.

I got a call at 12:30 one night a few months back. Apparently some back-end scripts I edited to fix an automated test setup crashed around 75 test pc's and halted somewhere around 2000 tests. I quickly jumped on, fixed the issue, and got everything back online.
I was up all night certain I would get fired. First thing in the morning the client says welcome to the club some, of the best have done the same thing.2 -
I started using Keepass and changed all my passwords to auto generated passwords. Somehow, my PC crashed before I saved the database. That was the day, where I lost access to my primary email address.5

Got notified of a new message in slack, clicked the channel and this is what I see, even after a restart. No content or UI controls of any kind are being rendered. No workspaces, no loading spinners, no errors, no warnings ... just nothing.
I don't give a fuck about your integrations, apps, giphy, video calls, search, threading ... I just want to read text.

The best feature in Intellij is the export to Eclipse. I fucking hate Eclipse but we have to submit our assignments as eclipse projects. Eclipse is the worst software i have ever seen. It even crashed in the same Moment as a classmate asked why i hated Eclipse.2

I was once using an app, made by my friend which could be used as a handy reference for programming topics. It crashed every time i clicked the last entry of the list. I told him that the app has a bug, probably some position mistake and he denied, saying that he doesn't need feedback from a guy who didn't code applications. I learned to code java and started android that night and knew I needed to give him a reply, a good one.3

After spending around 8+ hours on an Adobe After Effects project (which I obviously didn't save), at around 12 at night, it crashed.
I lost everything. Was heartbroken. Died inside. Nearly cried. Then I restarted the app and started from scratch.

Recently wrote a script that would check 2 years worth of images, crop them, and resize to different sizes as changes to front end required those.
Eventually the script went into an infinite loop and crashed the whole CMS.
The worst part was that my manager was on a date and I had to call him back into office, since his laptop was still at the office.

I took part in a programming competition yesterday. The computer provided to me crashed just before we begun and took five minutes to reboot. I wrote an inference engine to solve a problem that would have put me in the top 5, but they refused to accept my solution because it was seconds after the submission time despite them being aware I started later than everybody else.2

GitLab CE crashed after doing a reconfigure, something with the LetsEncrypt client. Hours of debugging later it suddenly works again and the letsencrypt client doesn't throw errors either.
Happy that it works again but I'd like to know WHY it suddenly works again after I pretty much changed nothing (or, I did, but I put everything back to the original values every time a suggestion doesn't work).

Got a Radeon RX 570 to complete my light gaming and rendering setup. This is easily the most powerful GPU I have ever owned, super hyped to try out all my games on this now. Works great after it crashed under Linux a few times for god knows what reasons but hey, not disappointed at all so far.
All AMD setup here (Ryzen + Radeon), feels good to be back on AMD after a long Intel/Nvidia stint.10 -

After at least half a year of using a computer that froze or crashed at least every 10 minutes I finally replaced the faulty stick of ram.

remember when our whole dev team was drunk but we went back to work anyway? turns out, someone rm -rf a whole folder of js scripts!! it took us some time before we could find the back up files which were in the old server (that crashed) because recently we changed servers (so we were transferring files) and we are now using amazon.

Hard drive head crashed and corrupted my entire android app source code which took my 5 months to build. I was depressed for 2 days and then started working for it again and updated the app on the store in 3 months. It was a terrifying yet amazing experience. Definitely don't want to go through that again.

Some intellect at Apple thought it would be helpful for macOS to reopen all my previous applications at once after restarting from an improper shutdown. Thank God it's much less annoying nowadays due to SSD load times.

People here expect me to use strncmp(str,"ABC",strlen("ABC")) because they think strcmp(str,"ABC") is going to crash. Because they've had experiences of using strcmp and getting crashed.
All they did was, pass inside strcmp, strings that did not carry terminating null character but won't accept if i told so.2 -

I was at Argos a few days back. After browsing I went over to one of the machines to order. Just as I was about to search for the item I required the program crashed... Bloody NullPointerException! Part two of: a day off an iOS developer life:
1. App crashed and stack trace gives no info in which file it happened, I have a generic table view cell that is used in so many places and Xcode just wrote: xcell does not support key value.
2. Mac freezing when Xcode is creating IPA file thanks to a new feature in Xcode 9 (Mac freezing is the new feature, even mouse pointer doesn't move -.-)
3. Let's check the value of this class property, Xcode: fuck off and either print it in console (after hitting a break point) or expand that shitty tree at the bottom to reach your class property!
An advice: never click jump to definition when Xcode is indexing, it will either freezing Xcode or crash it.

Decided to install new CentOS to prepare for Red Hat exams.
a) had to disable VirtualBox Audio and USB otherwise it got stuck during boot (lvm2 masking did not help)
b) First command - "dnf update". Crashed in middle of the process and completely screwed dnf/yum (TWICE!). Went through just fine when executed from runlevel 3.
So far it held up to the name Enterprise Linux because this is the exact out of box clusterfuck I would expect from a corporate.2 -
So I finally switched from Visual Studio 2015 to 2017. As you can see it's going great so far :/
Took me an entire day to install it and to get it to compile the most basic program. On top of that it has already crashed/frozen up over 4 times over the past 2 hours.

In my second year of A levels in secondary school (college) we had to make a quiz game using Microsoft Visual Basic. Was my first time using the software, got annoyed within a few weeks and downloaded a template off the internet. PC crashed while in the middle of a build, "ok, shit happens". Reboot, pc is super sluggy (a BSOD kinda does that, I guess). Reboot again and I check the event logs...I didn't find the problem, but at least my pc is sorry for whatever it was doing earlier.

People ask me why I prefer Windows: decided to install Mint, it crashed upon choosing a timezone. Had to not set a timezone to move past that bug. Then the install hangs. Turns out I should've edited the grub boot settings because I'm using an nvidia GPU. What the actual fuck? How is anyone supposed to know that?12

Woke up in the morning with bright ideas for my app. But my PC restarted and my IDE crashed. After getting the IDE up, the project no longer builds. After spending hours to try and fix it, reinstall IDE and ............... voila............... everything works. I mean WTF?1 -

Was stuck at 1024 x 768, installed NVIDIA drivers, crashed, restarted and ended up in an endless login screen loop and then boom, crash and is no longer recognised in Grub.

Probably the autosave feature in our medical eForm application. You might think that doesnt sound unnecessary, but it was built to solve a problem that shouldnt have existed in the first place.
Autosave was put in place to rescue as much data as possible in the event that the app randomly crashed while a paramedic was filling in a form.
So in one sense it was a necessary feature because the app was so unstable. But on the other hand, if the app was built properly it would never have been needed.1 -

So, I turned on my old phone to transfer all my p̶o̶r̶n̶ photos, and it crashed from the notifications.
And I understand that it's an underpowered device and notifications aren't expected to come by the hundreds, but how terribly misdesigned must a pubsub system like Push be for the client to crash? -

In my early days of web development I was on the lookout for a good PHP IDE and stumbled upon Komodo IDE. Never in my life have I asked for a refund so fast. Crashed at the most random times, such as when opening files and folders. Even accessing the settings could cause it to crash. Besides that I found it slow af.3

While finishing up development on an Atari Jaguar game. The game crashed after being left on the frontend screen for 24 hours. Part of the Atari QA checklist.
The bug turned out to be really easy to fix. Just work late and reset the testers Jaguar at 3am. Beers all round and sent to duplication ;)

Unity has a nice feature where if you search for an item in your hierarchy, it fades to white as if it just crashed.

I fucking love my SD card reader driver fucking up my whole system. How did that driver even pass BayHub's fucking QA, causing a bluescreen of death right during reboot of Windows? Anyways thanks Microsoft for that nice new bluescreen not telling me anything about the fucking problem why Windows just crashed. But at least it looks nice, so that it's more fun working all night and half a day to find the fucking problem myself. Fuck this.

I was following up on a production ramp-up... Open one of our tracking dashboards through corporate VPN and while loading... It crashed...
Reboot after non-stop reboot... Cleared cache, factory reset... Stabilized for an hour or two and it's crashing again...

Using a raw vmdk on windows and not knowing that after reboot windows decided to reorder my drive numbers. Then proceed to install a Linux onto an other hdd deleting the partition table and many things. Happily vbox crashed before it wrote a lot then I realized that my drive is not there anymore. Anyway photorec saved my life. I survived without any major losses.

I added two lines of code before loading the file, and they crashed. There goes all my data.

Damn it, Visual Studio 2017! :( It crashed without reason and then upon restart ate up all my RAM. Killing all processes in Task Manager helped a little, but something was still using up a little too much of the CPU and RAM.3

Created a piece of code (code A). It didn't work.
Found a replacement on StackOverflow (code B), commented out my code A and tried the new one.
Everything seemed fine, deleted code A. Tried the app and it crashed.
Re-added the commented code, and the app started working again.

Been spending the past two days setting up linux on my new work laptop which happens to have a hybrid nvidia GPU, in addition to requiring a usermade driver to get the docking station working. Both the (proprietary!) nvidia driver and displaylink driver demanded to rebuild the kernel, and the nvidia ones crashed during it.
I had no idea it could be this much of a hassle. Had I bought it myself I would have taken it back. Never buying a laptop with a discrete GPU ever again. Sweet butts. -
At college, second year, basic CS for that school. The teacher calls me to her office, and asked me if I had any backup of my work, because the school computer I used, had crashed and the school didn't have backup of it.
2 years of school material, lost. So the teacher and school director had to vouch for me. Still got best grade in glass. -

Since when has Brave based on the Chromium base been the main download?
Today my legacy Brave based on their own base crashed and as it seemed unrecoverable, I tried reinstalling. But now I'm stuck with this crappy Chromium based browser... I hate the non tab-pages and lack of tab peeking.
I initially had the Dev channel version but only as a backup for my main Brave because I realized how crappy it was, safe in knowing that at the time the main download was the old Brave Core. Now I'm really annoyed.2 -

RavenDB was by far the worst document storage "solution" I have ever had the displeasure of working with.
- Loading data crashed the service.
- Queries crashed the service.
- Monitoring applications crashed the service.
- It didn't support clustering or HA of any kind.
- Sometimes it just worked for no good reason.
- Often it broke for completely random reasons.11 -

I was pissed off beyond all reason yesterday when I realised that the reason my code didnt work for 2 days was because i spelled eForm with an uppercase F in my data model, and a lowercase f in my object classes. There was no way for the compiler to warn me so everything compiled fine but crashed at runtime when I tried to access that property. When I saw it, my head hit the desk....

Visual Studio is the worst. Ever. I was about a half hour digging into debugging my code, and I was about 8 layers deep into the API, with breakpoints to anchor me to each level. With no warning, Visual Studio crashed and I lost all my breakpoints, and I didn't know which file I left off in. I had to completely restart the debugging process. Visual Studio deserves to burn...4

I was developing my first android app and the database accounted for all the weekdays.
It was a night and I was coding. I build the app after 90 minutes of last build. I was fucking amazed to see that my app was running perfectly on Genymotion Emulator whilst the same god damn build crashed on my phone.
As a new novice developer, I thought it could be due to the OS version difference b/w my phone and VB.
I went on to spent an hour or so, to figure out where I had gone wrong. I re-read my code multiple times and nothing. I could not find a single error in the code.
I was fucking speachless when it hit me, FUCK, today is Saturday (last build was around 11PM Friday) and VM's time is usually screwed (it was Wednesday there) and since I had not accounted for weedends entry in database, the app crashed.
It was really fun having this sort of a bug for the first time in my life. Solved it within minutes after that. -
so we are having a campus recruitment at college. So there's a company that came in campus . The first step was to register on their website however their website is so shitty that they have specified that their Website is working just on Chrome and IE and not on Firefox . I was like what kind of developer support IE over Firefox really on top my friends who were applying at this company spend over 5 hrs just to register and the worst part @ 9 their server crashed . I would rather drink bleach than joining such a company1

Found my eOS had crashed. Got on my dad's spare Dell Latitude (by God, the keyboard is awesome) and downloaded an image file for Ubuntu.
Fast Forward to today morning :
Apparently, my dad never did down either of his laptops, or even lock. The Latitude had a update but it then started reverting it. It went into a loop.
My dad: what did you do?! It was working perfectly before, you must have crashed it.

While I was browsing the server through a ftp client, it froze for a sec and the next thing i notice is that a folder is missing. It was then when i found out the "drag'n'drop" feature.. Ofcourse it took me a few minutes to figure it out and ofcourse everything crashed. Btw, it was an asp.net web application I fucked up..on public..with more than 100 clients...o.o

A colleague gets notified that his historisation produces duplicates. He checks the tables, sees that something has gone wrong ... and asks me for help.
I'm so sorry but I had to laugh so hard. Turns out everything crashed cause the value to be historised had changed back to an earlier version (which can happen). And now I'm here wondering how someone who calls himself a senior dev can create a historisation without taking care of gaps and islands. Seriously, how can you not think about that?4 -
