API returns two date time in json (x-date-time, y-date-time) both of which are coming wrong.
Instructions for consuming API :
Take date part from y-date-time and time part from x-date-time and combine them so you would have the desired result

Why is starting a C++ project so overly complicated and annoying?!

So many different compilers. So many ways to organize the files. So many inconsistencies between Linux and Windows. So many outdated/lacking tutorials. So many small problems.

Why is there almost no good C++ IDEs? Why is Visual Studio so bizarre? Why are the CMake official tutorials literally wrong? Why can't we have a standard way to share binaries? Why can't we have a standard way to structure project folders? Why is the linker so annoying to use?

Don't get me wrong, I quite like the language and I love how fast it is (one of the main reasons I decided to use it for my project, which is a game almost comparable to Factorio)... But why is simply starting to write code such a hassle?

I've been programming in Java for years and oh god I miss it so much. JARs are amazing. Packages are amazing. The JDK is amazing. Everything is standardized, even variable names.

I'm so tempted to make this game in Java...

But I can't. I would have a garbage collector in the way of its performance...

Why the fuck do people go to so much trouble to justify what they did instead of just admitting they were wrong?

The way I handle this type of people is to first ask a straightforward like "X implies Y, right?" If they answer "yes" I say "then this here isn't right" and watch them go around the world to find a justification for it not being wrong.

I'd used the pixel format corresponding to the wrong endianness, so the GPU was getting data in the wrong order.

(For those interested: use SDL_PIXELFORMAT_RGBA32 as the pixel type, not the more "obvious" SDL_PIXELFORMAT_RGBA8888 when making a custom streaming SDL_Texture)

The designer of a new version of an app sent me the the new designs. I immediately noticed the menu-icon in the bottom right. (In a tab bar)

This is not common and even discouraged by design docs of iOS and Android. So I told him that and he thought we could try it.

After scrolling through the designs I saw the screen where the menu was open; the close button was also on the bottom right. I told him that users are not used to have a menu close button on that position. He said "Every other company is doing it wrong, so we're here to make that difference".. Today I wasted hours trying to do a HTTP POST request by using a query string in the URL. After some hours I realised what I was doing wrong. I'm so stupid.

Being in a rush = guaranteed way to make everything take longer.

Example: Typing your long, secure repo password wrong 5+ times in a row... when you are in a rush and just want to push your commit so you can get on with life.

How about a Git for Databases?
Do your changes, delete things, create things, and then when you are sure push these changes to your server.
If you did something wrong like accidentally delete fucking everything, just revert and everything is like before again.
Also you can view history and blame people for doing something wrong.

Tell me what you think about this. Not clue how you could implement this tho... Also I have enough to do already so feel free to take this idea!

a previous employee used a CMS called pimcore to develop an internal application, using only the admin interface.
now my supervisor wants me to implement a custom functionality that the system doesn't quite offer(querying an external database) in a way so that it doesn't interfere with the rest od the app; so I have to filter through a clusterfuck of auto-generated code and UI to find where, how and why components of the page are generated.
don't get me wrong, pimcore seems to be a solid CMS, but it's just the wrong tool for the job.

Why are GIFs still a thing?!? I mean don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against short, audioless videos but why GIF?

GIF only provides a lossless per-frame compression so the performance sucks really bad. For example a 1 MB GIF converted to MP4 is only 100 KB.

So that's why they take longer to load and have so bad quality.
