My classmates are such hypocrites. They pretend to be programmers, but they can't fool me.
"Oh sorry. I can't show you the result of my html code. I have to compile it first, but there's no WiFi."
There's so many things wrong with that.39 -
A computer science degree doesn't mean we can fix everything, it just means we can understand how everything went so terribly wrong5
-
Math teacher: 1+1=?
Me: one zero
Math teacher: wrong!
So i gived to her my calculator (in binary mode :-) )
Me: check the answer.
Math teacher: [saw 1+1=10 on calc] thinks about 10 seconds LOL then says: you calculator is broken!18 -
According to the internet so far:
If you dislike Windows, you're a hater.
If you dislike Linux, you're wrong.
If you dislike iMac, well, yeah. That's okay.14 -
How do mobile sites know when I'm about to tap a link, and then load something and shift everything so that I tap the wrong link?9
-
Thinking/saying: nah, that can't be an issue, no user can be that stupid
Never has anyone been so wrong.17 -
So I found myself explaining to my rubber duck all the things I've done wrong in my past relationships...
What? It's a great guy, I shouldn't limit it just to code issues, I have a life it could fix too4 -
Got fed up with Wix adverts on Facebook so I hid it. It then asked me why, so, as a Frontend Developer, I said Wix is offensive to me.
Tell me I'm wrong! 😉13 -
So sick of my colleague who keeps writing:
if (something) {
doWork();
} else {
}
He insists that it is the best code style to include the empty else clause. WRONG YOU #!*&@!14 -
Best part of being a dev?
The feeling when everything is going so well that you start suspecting that something is wrong.1 -
Best part of being a dev?
The perceived ability to fix ANY electronic device owned by friends and family.
"So you work with computers? Any idea what's wrong with my toaster?"7 -
What's wrong with this developer. I know at some point Eclipse was king, so you better stop playing with peoples emotions, lol 😅.7
-
"So what do you do?"
"I am a software engineer"
3 most frequent conversation routes
1. "I have some great app ideas maybe you could help me..."
2. "My computer/phone crashes frequently, what is wrong with it?..."
3. "so how many software/games/mobile apps have you developed?..."5 -
In my programming lab, lecturer just scolded me for using stack overflow calling it useless and saying it has all the wrong information. Class I was so excited about just turned out to be the annoying one.6
-
So, been at a 4* hotel for the first time. And in their relax lounge, they had an iMac.
There was nothing wrong with it... Until I rebooted it.
Edit: It appears they did it for a proprietary hotel software of some sort that only runs on Windows... But... It didn't really work either, so 10/10.3 -
“Can’t you just open up my iPhone right now and check what’s wrong with it??”
My response: “See, you already know what to do! Since it’s so easy, why don’t you just do it yourself?” -
Project manager, a few months ago: "why did you do this task? It's all wrong. It's a backend task, not a frontend task so you shouldn't have done it. Don't do it again."
PM, today, regarding the same task in a different project: "why didn't you do this task? The project isn't complete without it. It isn't right. You should have done it."
Are you fucking serious? If we do it it's wrong, if we don't do it it's wrong too. So why should I bother? Seriously, fuck you you piece of shit.2 -
Dev: Hey, I need you to see something.
Client: ok
Dev: this is the models of those reports you need
Client: ok, wait, what is that number? This is wrong, we can't...
Dev: hey, calm down, this is not the production, it's just fake database!
Client: ah, ok.
(5 minutes of explantion)
Dev: so, what do you think?
Client: just one point, that data is very very wrong, we need to change this ASAP!7 -
Do you really expect that I can debug in a few minutes, a part of the software that I didn't build and have never seen before and have no knowledge of the external, third-party web service that code is reaching out to?
Dude, flippin' chill, take a walk, grab a drink, pop some popcorn and give me some time to figure out what the hell this code is doing so I can properly debug it!
You know what it turned out to be? Wrong test data used for the 3rd party service. So in essence... Nothing was wrong! Frickity frack!2 -
Just looking at code, my colleague ("Senior Java Developer"), wrote...
if (process == "null") {...}
As you can guess, process is a String.
I just don't know what I can tell him. It's just so wrong, in every possible way...10 -
So some dipshit keeps entering his email wrong on forms and putting mine on instead (never met this guy).
So far I've received holiday bookings, plane tickets and payslips. I've already called his mobile and told him what I've received emails for and what he should change.
Still nothing, maybe I should just rob him blind for being so thick...11 -
Fuck today. Just fucking fuck today. Every fucking thing is going wrong.
A router reset might work for the Internet part buuuuuut there's 4 rooms on this router so i can't really do that until tonight - the end of the fucking weekend, exactly!7 -
Udemy strikes again with their amazing courses..
So many things wrong in this image that I don't even want to start..
Seriously, who teaches people to write code like that?25 -
We're not the wrong ones here...
I consider this a failed IQ test, so the website should just ban the user.9 -
me in life: if its too delicious so its unhealthy.
me on code: if it's too easy so it's probably wrong3 -
>Answered my first question on SO
>Comment: "It's a wrong answer"
>Me: "Do you mind telling me why, so i can fix it? It could still help the op"

I see. You were quick to tell me I was wrong, but don't tell me why. Alright then.8 -
GitHub desktop is available for Mac and Windows and not for Linux. I feel this is so wrong after their entire shit is build around open source.
https://help.github.com/desktop/...22 -
Ok, so I was working with Python, I wanted to make a simple chatbot. I spend hours trying to figure out what was wrong, until it hit me... the prints weren't indented.8
-
Aww SwiftKey, after two letters youre suggesting the right password, that's so nice of you...
Wait a minute... WHY DO YOU EVEN KNOW THAT?
You're not a password manager and you don't do that with other passwords, what's wrong with you?4 -
I have colleagues that enjoy only drinking, nothing wrong so far but those guys are ordering a lot of crates monthly on the company budget.
You can see it as part of the fun or making the workplace enjoyable, what's wrong with having some relaxed atmosphere?
The funny fact that each developer has an education budget and guess what? you can't even claim it, the manager said no to conferences, if you want to get a book or training he will come up with 1000 excuses.
So when the company priority is spending thousands on drinks and ignore education and growth don't expect the motivated developers to stick longer.1 -
I accidently used the wrong language to code in... So I had to port my code over to the right one.8
-
Opening up a view file, and first thing I see is a function accepting 13 parameters.
I don't know where to start, so much wrong..
Kill me.5 -
Going through code left by a senior developer who quit.. Dated 2015..
public static T IfThenElse<T>(bool isTrue, T ifYes, T ifNo)
{
if(isTrue) { return ifNo ; }
else if(!isTrue) { return ifNo ;}
Debugger.Break();
throw new Exception("") ;
}
.....
There was a unit test for it well
....
............. Wow, just wow9 -
How motherfucking difficult can it be to port forward something internally?!
I've been on this for fucking hours and I'm so fucking done with this shit.
I know I'm doing something wrong myself but I can't find a good resource 😠8 -
Me as Junior Dev doing mysql first time, specifically INSERT test data to test db, sucess on first try.
My Senior co-worker says: WOW, Baby's first INSERT...... that sounds so wrong out of context xD -
I’m so used to having a shitty PC that every time it runs smoothly I start to think something’s wrong2
-
Kinda tired of people telling me that I'm "wrong" for using PHP. There's nothing inherently wrong with PHP. Any language is only as good as the developer using it, and so long as you're comfortable using it and it does what you need it to do, there's no shame in using ANY programming language. Don't let the these cocky "bro"grammers tell you how to do your job.15
-
Recruiter: "Take this culture survey. It's not a test. There are no right or wrong answers."
Me, internal voice: Then why give me a list of words to choose from that I think describe me best and another list of words to choose from that describe how I ought to behave at work? Clearly, there's a matchup you're trying to do here. So clearly there's going to be a wrong answer if I don't choose enough of the former to match the latter.4 -
So I'm sick. But my inner coder tells me that I could atleast do some basic design for my project.
So I go to sit down at my home computer and immediately feel my nose literally start dripping of snot as soon as I lean in to sit. So lile any normal man i take a tissue, wipe and blow my nose and it's now time to login on the computer.
*Wrong password*
Oh, I've must been to quick
*Try again*
*Wrong password*
Wtf?!
*Slowly type my password in*
*Wrong password*
*Fuck it, show password*
A space is missing.
Alright I'll just add it in then.
*Tap spacebar*
*Nothing*
*Tap harder*
*Nothing*
So I rip out the space bar and find a two little drops of snot that must have juuuust fallen between the cracks.
I tried to wipe it away and put the space bar back, but it's dead. :(5 -
So This is how you spell column in Java 😂
10 out of 10 would recommend going to collage 😁
(Spelled wrong deliberately)6 -
The fuck did I do wrong?
So I had 11 vulnerabilities 1 high.
I just npm audit fix
Now it’s 44 vulnerabilities14 -
Client: I can't login with my lastpass
Me: Oh, why not, how are you trying?
Client: So, I've entered my lastpass password into my bank account, and it says 'wrong login credentials'
Me: °-°17 -
I know xiaomi, you must be collecting a lot of personal data but this just sounds wrong on so many levels5
-
My coworker can't be bothered with learning git branching, so he comments out significant functionality during testing and then comments it back in before go-live. What could possibly go wrong?7
-
So you want to collect and save sensitive data from psychologists sessions and use Wordpress. What can go wrong.2
-
"I'll just fetch the data from Wikipedia, it must be really simple using their API"
I've never been so wrong.2 -
I see too many back-end rants against front-ends.
Should we talk about table layouts, malformed html, programatically generated spaghetti wrong markup, css absurd class naming, infinite div wrapping (div-itis), awful usability, poor legibility, terrible typography, wrong color palettes and user-unfriedly design? To name a few horrors i've seen so far.
Some people won't admit that their contempt against HTML and CSS being 'not real code' actually hides their inability or unwillingness to learn it. Or they need the feeling of superiority.11 -
TIL how to enable "insults" on the terminal. So every time I type my password wrong it insults me :D5
-
Confession
I'm building a web app with little experience and I'm probably Googling stuff 50% of the time and I'm sure I'm doing everything the wrong way but it works so...10 -
API returns two date time in json (x-date-time, y-date-time) both of which are coming wrong.
Instructions for consuming API :
Take date part from y-date-time and time part from x-date-time and combine them so you would have the desired result1 -
Why is starting a C++ project so overly complicated and annoying?!
So many different compilers. So many ways to organize the files. So many inconsistencies between Linux and Windows. So many outdated/lacking tutorials. So many small problems.
Why is there almost no good C++ IDEs? Why is Visual Studio so bizarre? Why are the CMake official tutorials literally wrong? Why can't we have a standard way to share binaries? Why can't we have a standard way to structure project folders? Why is the linker so annoying to use?
Don't get me wrong, I quite like the language and I love how fast it is (one of the main reasons I decided to use it for my project, which is a game almost comparable to Factorio)... But why is simply starting to write code such a hassle?
I've been programming in Java for years and oh god I miss it so much. JARs are amazing. Packages are amazing. The JDK is amazing. Everything is standardized, even variable names.
I'm so tempted to make this game in Java...
But I can't. I would have a garbage collector in the way of its performance...11 -
Why the fuck do people go to so much trouble to justify what they did instead of just admitting they were wrong?
The way I handle this type of people is to first ask a straightforward like "X implies Y, right?" If they answer "yes" I say "then this here isn't right" and watch them go around the world to find a justification for it not being wrong.6 -
!rant
I've been doing wrong these last year, so I decided to step up my game, implementing on my work cycle:
+ Testing
+ CI
It feels fucking great. If you're not doing it, it's time.1 -
I tried github copilot. Spent the first hour trying to work out how to turn off the inline copilot popup star thing. Asked copilot. It gave me the wrong answer. So, a coding AI doesn't even understand its own documentation.
Our jobs are safe.11 -
Oh for fucks sake on a horse raping twat of a week.
It’s like everything that could go wrong did go wrong, from people fucking up, to orders being fucked up in multiple systems to me wanting to break someone’s fucking nose for being a complete dumb fuck. Seriously how do people that do a job, day in and day out go completely fucking brain dead and fuck things up beyond fucking repair over hundreds of orders.
Sorry but FUCK this shit, it can wait till fucking Monday you cunt rash of a shit. -
Just received this today.. They couldn't fit it in the yellow envelope, SO THEY CUT IT UP!!!!!! What's wrong with people!!!!6
-
So, I've been programming a number of years, mainly .net, I've been looking at python recently and it just seems wrong to use variables without declaring them. It just seems dirty11
-
Got a ticket form a client reporting a calculation giving the wrong outcome.
In return I ask her what she thinks the outcome should be and why.
"The right answer because I said so."
Yeah thanks that's going to help a lot. -
I know, I know, "OMG ppl are wrong the internet."
Even so, I don't think I'll ever fully get past the continuously lowering barrier to entry on sites like medium and free code camp, and at times even alligator.io. The information routinely ranges from wildly inaccurate to dangerously wrong with few checks and no peer review can't be good for the industry in the long run.
Starting to yearn for the old days when the biggest risk was skilled plagiarism.3 -
I know whats wrong, I know how to fix it, but it would require too much energy so trying to find a different way to fix it1
-
I am mad at myself. Angry at myself. Frustrated at myself.
For clinging onto this nothingness.
Being a coward to let things go.
Unable to give up.
It's all so tiring.
So so tiring.
For a nobody, there is nothing wrong with leaving this world as I came.8 -
Am I doing something wrong here? Or those imports are so damn annoying?
Any solution for reducing those imports? especially that I am using them all and not have non-used imports
Just like Java, too much imports -.-7 -
"Let‘s make a service where the users can enter all of their secrets and sensitive data so that we can warn them if that data has been leaked elsewhere"
What could possibly go wrong?2 -
@dfox the reply and modify buttons on the last comment in a rant on iphone6 is very close to the social media icons and comment button.
So close that its easy to hit the wrong one. A little extra padding in the bottom so that you can scroll half a centimeter more would help a lot.3 -
Working with DigitalOcean boxes for so long has spoiled me.
I went to setup something on my home server today, and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong for like 30 minutes...
Until I realized that I never forwarded port 80.
*sigh.1 -
Just asked something on stackoverflow.
Has been 15min already. And still no downvote and no comment saying “fuck off”
Today is a good day.
🙃
Sorry for wrong tag. This ain’t a rant. I was just thinking “so? -> rant”5 -
When i was 12 or so, my mom bought me the java for dummies book. Don't get me wrong, thats not where i learned from, it just motivated me to find actually useful resources to do so.3
-
IF YOU DONT WANT ME TO INSTALL SOMETHING WITHOUT UPDATING THEN FUCKING SAY SO INSTEAD OF SAYING MY PASSWORD IS WRONG.1
-
I once ran a batch import job to stress test with much more data than usual in staging... so I thought.
I sshd into prod by accident. History search can be a bastard at times...
The moment I realized what I was doing was crazy. I was shivering and thought I get fired if anything went wrong.
fortunately I just duplicated the original data for the test, and the system was built to ignore unnecessary updates... so the data was correct and nothing went wrong.
Not an active stupid dev choice but still something I will remember for a while. -
User: Hello, can you sync my printer to my laptop? I can't download anything to it.
Me: *facepalm* so much is wrong here... -
In a shit mood from developing and being an adult so fuck it, let's get drunk and delete windows and install arch as my main driver...
Im sure nothing will go wrong...5 -
I think it will be very odd to ask a girl to wait so that I can read the code on her skirt, with no wrong intentions.
I guess she won't understand how attractive source codes are.15 -
What the fuck is wrong with you Windows?
Why the hell do you take so much time to load?
Actually, FUCK YOU.
FUCK YOU FOR BEING THE ONLY OS WHERE HIGH END GAMES WORK.
FUCK YOU FOR BEING SO SO SO SLOW LIKE YOUR GRUB.10 -
So I did not notice that my google chrome had another window and I accidentally closed the 2 chrome windows in the wrong order. Now my 1st chrome window tabs are all gone. Stupid me 😅8
-
So python does not have constants and the only way to create one is to create a class with a getter but no setter.
WHAT.THE.FUCK or am I just wrong?4 -
Tfw GitHub app is forcing you to push to master and you do so because you're an idiot, and your agnostic ass starts praying to god(s) nothing goes wrong.2
-
Best advice a dev gave me? So much/many over the years.
I shared this one just last week to another dev..
"If you are writing a lot of code to do something, you are probably doing it wrong."
- Marco Cantu - Borland Dev Conference -
It took me 5!!!! fucking hours to do it but I did.
I got linux to work with my RTX 2070 oh my god
Most of that time was spent figuring out what exactly was wrong because the problem is hella common but the cause doesn’t seem to be so i was sent off in the completely wrong direction a bunch of times
Apparently Nouveau doesn’t support my GPU yet and installing the binary driver from nvidia seemed impossible but i pulled it off thanks to some random stranger on askubuntu.com
Unfortunately i got it working on elementary os instead of ubuntu so now i have to go install ubuntu 🤷♂️13 -
So I tried to render the Facebook page plug-in and guess what..
Some guy at Facebook has added an online style on the preview: display: none !important.
So the plug-in preview was literally empty, thought I was not doing it right, how can the act of simply entering a url be wrong, seriously?
Production bug at Facebook facepalm -
"Your documentation doesn't specify what should be returned if there is no item matching the id, so currently I'm just gonna have it throw a 504"
Why on earth would you? What's wrong with you, you sick bastard?6 -
The company I'm working at is treating interns like full timers while not actually paying them that much. I've been working as a full timer, doing similar tasks, working alone and without mentorship since I joined. This feel so wrong!10
-
So this week we had another team come to us and say they need to go into production...only issue...they have nothing...sorry that's wrong they have something...a vbs script to do their installation which doesn't work...
-
Protip: always account for endianness when using a library that does hardware access, like SDL or OpenGL :/
I spent an hour trying to figure out why the fucking renderer was rendering everything in shades of pink instead of white -_-
(It actually looked kinda pretty, though...)
I'd used the pixel format corresponding to the wrong endianness, so the GPU was getting data in the wrong order.
(For those interested: use SDL_PIXELFORMAT_RGBA32 as the pixel type, not the more "obvious" SDL_PIXELFORMAT_RGBA8888 when making a custom streaming SDL_Texture)5 -
The designer of a new version of an app sent me the the new designs. I immediately noticed the menu-icon in the bottom right. (In a tab bar)
This is not common and even discouraged by design docs of iOS and Android. So I told him that and he thought we could try it.
After scrolling through the designs I saw the screen where the menu was open; the close button was also on the bottom right. I told him that users are not used to have a menu close button on that position. He said "Every other company is doing it wrong, so we're here to make that difference".. The only thing I thought was 'Okay, so Google is doing it all wrong all the time.'.
So now it's in the app and I don't like it.18 -
The codebase I'm currently working on is so fucking damn wrong that I made a folder for screenshots called "facepalm".2
-
Job interview in an hour while depressed. And I‘m not ready for the thought of “lying” on how great I am if i don’t feel like it. It feels so wrong.11
-
10 Hours straight.
I thought a simple list in Android isn't a big thing, because I have made some css. I was so wrong.3 -
Is it normal for seniors to talk to juniors with disrespect if they made something wrong in code?
this is my first time job ever and I feel like this behavior is so weird honestly.13 -
Manager: no you can't go to that conference. It's to expensive.
Next week...
Manager: so I'm going on this conference and you need to make sure nothing goes wrong here. Bye!2 -
Project BluePly, all people are blueplying their pfps just for fun, for another Discord anniversary, so I also tried it, using my DevRant avatar....just don't ask what went wrong...9
-
This senior dev of mine is so good that he always reminds me to finish the bugs and yeah, fixed it, and sent the codes to him. The hell's wrong with him is that he hasn't upload the codes i sent to him.2
-
Why is flutter so unbelievably awesome?
It makes development soooo much quicker and easier compared to native java/kotlin/swift...so much simpler on so many levels, that it still feels somehow ..*wrong*...to me....10 -
so wait... the recruitment agency just gave me the wrong FUCKING ADDRESS.
THAT JUST FUCKING HAPPENED.
Get your head out your arse, and take a fucking proper look at the appointment details, instead of checking your goddamn phone constantly.
Fucking hell, I'm angry. -
WHERE CASE WHEN field1 IS NOT NULL THEN ISNULL(field1,NULL) END = ISNULL(field2,NULL)
So many wrongs, my wrong-o-meter broke...2 -
Aaaaaw fuck yea. I'm finally at my mother's, for my first holidays since late December 2017, and I FINALLY can sleep as much as I want without being bothered. I just slept 30+ hours in 3 days, which is close to what I sleep in a week. Still tired though, but I feel so much more relaxed than the evening I arrived at my mom's place 3 days ago *.*
-
I'm working on a banking app (Android) and I thought: "This is a bank. An important one. They will surely have a good IT department! It will be a joy to work with them"...
Never have I been so wrong!3 -
FLOATING POINT PRECISION! FUCK YOU! Spent so much time trying to figure out what was wrong with an algorithm I made to calculate and correct bounding only to finally realise, after printing out every single variable and calculating everything manually to realise the value was off by 0.0001 which made it skip an if statement. Ughhhhhhhh, so much freaking time wasted3
-
One developer got a code and had to add new feature so he writes new function in similar way that arleady written one. Pass the code to next guy.
Next guy: why did u write this function like that?
First guy: Coz one was arleady written that way
N: but it was written wrong
F: ...so now 2 are written wrong (no he will not fix it 😂😂)1 -
me: i dont wanna get out of bed to check the code, i feel so comfy and lazy
me: *after 10 mins* dammit, need to change this, need to change that, its still fucked up, why is this wrong *codes more* -
Good thing the maintenance is at night here, so I won't miss out on scrolling rants :)
Don't do the GitLab and do changes on the wrong db cluster :P2 -
Just found out the crazy bug I've been hunting the past two days was because I simply had the wrong filepath to the input and wasn't checking that.
So how's your guy's day?1 -
I just overheard at the office one of my colleagues dont want to move on my side cause Im so quiet he didnt like me to be his seatmate. So tell me what's wrong on the person who just want to focus and do good work huh?5
-
Wow, y’all are depressed.
https://twitter.com/williamsbk/...
I don’t work in medicine or military so no one dies if I use “<“ instead of “>=“ because I wrote the variables in the wrong order. I’m not worried about skills, I’m worried about saying the wrong thing to the wrong person because direct, clear communication is out of style right now.21 -
CS Teacher today:
"Transport Layer provides Security and Encryption to the communication" (TCP/IP stack)
me: WTF? Encryption is provided on the *top* of the transport layer (aka Application) ( and below [Network Layer] there is IPsec)
Teacher: no, it's wrong.
me: so Wikipedia it's wrong, RFC 5246 is wrong, and you have right?
Teacher: Yes.
me: Ok. (aka fuck you!)2 -
So I just changed the same LoC in my library to find out that same LoC had no problem...
The fucking test case is written wrong
wtf1 -
The new HUAWEI ad is so wrong. It literally shows addiction as something positive and cool: https://youtu.be/891NDt5QwHk2
-
"If you don't return something in the catch block it will crash"
Isn't it interesting how a sentence can be true yet so infuriatingly wrong.3 -
Why do people compare languages? Like C++ vs JAVA, C++ vs Python, C++ vs Elixir?
All languages are best in their own specific use-cases. So why we need to compare all this stuff?
Or might be I am wrong.19 -
So if anyone has visited slant.co they will know the website is overrun with this shit...
What the flying fuck is wrong with these people?21 -
I hate all the idiots who mark completely wrong answers on SO as the accepted best answer. THE ANSWER IS WRONG GENIUS!!1
-
I think JavaScript is great actually
Though I don't like the community
But that's not saying much, aside from maybe c++ people (who I don't actually understand so maybe that's what's going on there) I don't seem to like any communities
Mostly because they're wrong and fight over irrelevant things and don't realize they're wrong so they just keep going wrong and it makes me cringe
But javascript is nice because it's intuitive, and if it isn't intuitive to you right now just look into the thing and it'll be a second language to you later... Isn't that a skill issue?
Easy to start hard to master, perfect difficulty curve. Exploits that sunk cost fallacy. It isn't overwhelming either you only run into the edge cases slowly over time.
But there can be a point made that an easily accessible anything is just always going to turn into a cesspool because unskilled people keep contributing and thinking themselves experts, so it over time reduces quality of secondary tooling =[6 -
So i I got confused on how xor works and fucked up the whole interview
That is after writing all code correctly
I wrote the truth table wrong
I am doing this for 7 years now how can I make this mistake ☠️ fml3 -
I have so much motivation at the wrong times lmao. Although I'm gonna start programming more than I already do so wish me luck6
-
Can someone explain what's so wrong with CSS?
My only issue is you can't set media query variables - which is totally not an issue with cssnext or similar..3 -
*random person in tram witha huge backpack* let's stand in the middle of the fking door, with my backpack towards the door so I clearly can't see if anyone is trying to get into the tram.
What the fuck is wrong with you? There is tons of space and even seats free what the actuall fuck just move along already! Jeez. What's wrong with people! At least stand at the side or something.
That's a new kind of shit. Don't get to see this every day.2 -
remote work is so much better for me.. i think something is wrong with me because little things my co-workers do like clearing their throats, them slamming their keyboards and sometimes the way they laugh or even the way they speak... pisses me off so bad. OMG!!! even putting on headphones does not help. I wish i could ignore all that.
-
Have legal troubles in the UK? Scammed someone? Messed with the wrong person? Facing charges and a lengthy jail time? No problem! Go and touch some children. UK protects pedos at all costs, so you’ll immediately be pardoned. Maybe they’ll even give you a medal.4
-
After two months of working on the new version I've finally decided to compile everything. I must say I was pretty confident that everything would compile pretty well.
I've never been so wrong in my life xD6 -
Don't get me wrong I love the weekly rants!
...but on mondays I just genuinely don't use devRant because reading about the same topic over and over again becomes boring so quickly.1 -
I felt so guilty at the age of thirteen realizing something is wrong with me, and I, in fact, want to be a girl.33

So few of you will know that I was a bit wasted last night (Monday night). Few of you will also know I was having trouble with my new linux installation. (POP!_OS)
After troubleshooting this and that, I gave up. I believe my hardware just doesn't wanna pop. So I installed manjaro xfce.
This morning I woke up with my laptop beside me with a locked screen. I entered the password I remember I setup. Wrong. I entered all usual passwords I normally use. All wrong.

The reviewer said one of the code lines was indented wrong and move four spaces to the left so rather than arguing I did, then his response was..."Sorry, I meant three."
He was wrong both times and it should have been to the right...an if else the previous dev hadn't indented.
That seems like a lot of drama for some spacing.2 -
Well I noticed one thing here.
You write any post regarding coding, bad management, juniors or whatever shit, this community welcomes you
But you dare to put wrong tag or category, all are like where the fuck is report button? can I dislike this post bla bla..

So my Bank Account Number ends with 1 and I had given my details to a person for processing some amount. He got the number wrong and put 0 instead of 1 at the end. After exchanging mails regarding the delay in processing , i got to know about the problem.
So i called him and said - "So i can see that you have got the A/c number wrong. Because you have set the rightmost bit to 0 and it should be 1. umm sorry , i mean - it ends with 1 and not 0 !"
He takes a pause and says - "Ohhh! Really Sorry about that. I will fix it ASAP. And your coffee is on me. Just consider it one's compliment! "2 -

What is wrong with Stackoverflow mods and so called seasoned users? Why is everyone in such a rush to close questions and point you to other questions which has no relevance.
Once they do this, is just over. Explaining why they are wrong makes no diff. And you can't just repost. The question is just dead.
Genuinely think they should just burn in hell. Sick a holes. If you're not interested in answering or helping at least stay out of people's business.12 -
In several occasions I run rm -rf * in the wrong folder (or wrong server!!).

Being in a rush = guaranteed way to make everything take longer.
Example: Typing your long, secure repo password wrong 5+ times in a row... when you are in a rush and just want to push your commit so you can get on with life. -
How about a Git for Databases?
Do your changes, delete things, create things, and then when you are sure push these changes to your server.
If you did something wrong like accidentally delete fucking everything, just revert and everything is like before again.
Also you can view history and blame people for doing something wrong.
Tell me what you think about this. Not clue how you could implement this tho... Also I have enough to do already so feel free to take this idea!10 -

a previous employee used a CMS called pimcore to develop an internal application, using only the admin interface.
now my supervisor wants me to implement a custom functionality that the system doesn't quite offer(querying an external database) in a way so that it doesn't interfere with the rest od the app; so I have to filter through a clusterfuck of auto-generated code and UI to find where, how and why components of the page are generated.
don't get me wrong, pimcore seems to be a solid CMS, but it's just the wrong tool for the job. -

Why are GIFs still a thing?!? I mean don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against short, audioless videos but why GIF?
GIF only provides a lossless per-frame compression so the performance sucks really bad. For example a 1 MB GIF converted to MP4 is only 100 KB.
So that's why they take longer to load and have so bad quality.1 -

So part of my ok assignment was to Code a simple quize game. So I used a while loop to initiate the quiz. One of the constraints was that after 6 questions answered wrong the quize ends and if you make it to the end of the quize it gives you the number of questions you got wrong. 🤣 The damn code always ran to the end despite having gotten 6questions wrong.
The problem ? Turns out I needed a break. 😂😂😂 Pun intended. -

Joined a new project.
The core of the application has references to pretty much everything in the entire codebase, both api and database layer.
On top of that it uses extension methods instead of mappers or normal methods on classes in order to "keep classes short", so many methods are unnecessarily hidden from view.
Tried to fix it, got told to revert back to the old version because "it might be wrong, but at least it's wrong everwhere". Guess I'm making bolognese for dinner.1 -

Write C++ like it's Python, write Python like it's C++.
C++ everyone else has to use types so you can get away with auto and the compiler will tell you when you've done something wrong. Python, nobody else has to use types so type everything and let the static checker tell them when they've done something wrong so they don't pester you. -

Alright so I have been trudging around in javascript land for a bit and one thing kind of bothers me (correct me if I am wrong I would love to be wrong on this). It seems like a lot of javascript, or at least frameworks, leave a lot of possibility for memory leaks. Like you can create an anonymous object with a method that just kind of hangs out and acts with no way to retrieve it and turn it off. Am I wrong here? Please tell me I am wrong. And for the record I know I can assign anonymous objects to variables in various ways, but I am not forced to.4

The fuck symfony again - passwords migration - no error but does not work. One guy in the comment wrote what fixed - I had wrong configuration. Why it cannot give fucking error when the configuration is wrong. And I did not see even in documentation that I need to do that. I do not know if symfony really deserves so much popularity if it wastes so much time. Checked my tracker - I have spent about 13 hours for symfony upgrade from I think 5.1 to 5.3 and password migration.
