One day a client sent me gifts and a sweet letter just because they loved their new website so much. I just about cried. I work in an industry where acknowledgment and thankfulness by clients are extremely rare. 😱😭8
-
Ever wrote some code so sweet you could barely contain yourself and want to call some of your friends to share your achievement... then realize they just wouldn't understand.... #needcodefriends10

Friend gave this self made "pocket advent calendar" to me (has 24 m&m's in it)
*me to her: aww thank you thats so sweet!
*OCD to me: but she could have aligned that numbers...
*me to me: and that's one more reason you're single12 -
Someone's outlook wasn't connecting to a mail server.
Fair enough, colleague started debugging in the morning!
It worked fine on any client on linux/mac.
After a while the swearing started to come, for some reason outlook thought that the url used for incoming/outcoming email was offline, worked on any other system.
We all left him alone for the rest of the day.
At the end I walked to his desk aan went:
Me: hey man is it working already? *very sweet smile*
Him: *gives a death stare* fucking die 😡
😆😅10 -
This girl from financial department pissed me off so badly I took 15 minutes of my private time to slightly modify CSS and JS for her user in our intranet panel, made everything pink and blue, animate all the buttons to randomly barrel roll and made the mouse cursor explode colourful star particles with each click.
She *liked* it, said it was *sweet* and *apologized* for being an ass. Robbed me of all the satisfaction. :(6 -
Me - okay mom im going to sleep don't bother me.
Mom - okay goodnight sweet heart.
Me - *puts on headphone , have a cup of coffee and begin to code*13 -

1. Person who passionately disagrees with you ++'d your comment!
2. Person who gets a response with a counter argument says "I had not looked at it from that angle before" instead of "That's mainstream propaganda, I hope you die of cancer"
Just two reasons why this community is amazing.
You actively inspire me to be a bit more sweet than bitter on the internet.10 -
Boss: I need this page to behave in a completely new way.
Me: that's all fine and dandy but it requires a rewrite.
Boss: nah just look man, it's really simple all I want is blah, blah blah...
I'm too tired for this shit5 -
The thing that I hate the most about my job:
Manager: We need to get this done.
Me: okay. (after some scouring online) this open source library looks like a perfect fit for the requirement.
Manager: oh sweet.
*some eons later*
Me: dude, I developed this general purpose utility and I think this might be helpful to other developers and something that we could open source.
Manager: uh no. Company policy.
Me: but we make use of open source libraries all the time.
Manager: that's different.4 -
A sweet girl of my class asked me yesterday, if i can help her to refresh her IT skills. I said "yes ofc im glad to help" . Today she repeated it, while whole class was listening. Other classmates said" yeah good idea we want to join"

I made a setting that hides your messages in a group chat. The UX guy said it would "cut down noise" to only see what others are saying.
I would like to tell you that I did this thing at gunpoint, but the truth is I did it out of malice. Sweet, sweet malice.
When the community reacted with the expected, uh, reaction... the UX guy got all the credit he deserved.
Sweet, sweet malice.4 -
Ian Murdock, Debian creator, dead in shady circumstances this day, three years ago.
A days before we’ve seen some very strange tweets by him about the police violence, and then his Twitter was immediately gone. But internet remembers everything.
Good night sweet prince.

My insurance company sending me the payment slip by post with my username and password to the online account for easy access. How sweet of them. 10/10 customer satisfaction.

Worst part of being a developer?
Everyone thinks you want to freelance a website for them...
Even when you're not a web developer
What do you do?
I write software.
Oh so you're good with computers and stuff?
Yeah
That's p sweet, can you build me a site?

After 2 years of being forced into writing PHP 5.5, we've finally convinced upper management to let us switch to C# instead. It's coming in a few weeks. Words cannot describe how much I hate this god awful language.... C#, save me my sweet, sweet, strictly typed goodness.11

Why its so hard to understand that - not always... - frontend devs will give you a sweet ui with medium back end and back end devs are gonna give you a medium ui with sweet back end?
Why can't we just do what nature made us good for and work in collaboration?
Fuck7 -
When my comment on someone's rant gets enough +1's for some sweet stickers, but none of my rants had enough 🤔😥3

Dear sweet merciful Lord, my API is WORKING! OMG! I take back everything bad I said about PHP. Turns out the connection to the database was causing the script not to run. I'll figure out why later but poor sweet PHP, is innocent.4

-- So you like npm? Upgrade to version 5 to use its sweet features!
OK. Let's run `npm install npm@5`. Erm, my npm is now a broken mess, not finding `semver`.
-- Well, since you like npm you also will like yarn! It's just facebook's npm. So run `npm install yarn -g`
Yeah, but I wanted `npm@5` not `yarn`.
-- Then just run `yarn global add npm@5`. You then have npm@5.

And yes, that works.5 -

I think the massive collaboration projects like VS Code are awesome.
A free product that is customizable beyond imagination and constantly being updated and improved by those who use it daily.

coding for your company and you know something doesn't work right.... sweet I'm done. I'll just fix that tomorrow.
coding for yourself and it works right but you still feel nervous about your users using it so it takes you an hour to build up the courage to push the changes live lol -
I was an oilfield machinist for about 10 years. During downtime I'd read blogs and books on my phone. Eventually I wrote an app to manage parts drawings and CNC programs for my shop. Any time I came across a package or pattern I didn't understand I'd pursue it relentlessly. CodeWars and reading other people's code got me a long way. Now I've got a job in silicon valley and things are pretty sweet.

Sweet sweet success :)
Finally, I have something nice to put on a resume.22 -
Spent yesterday afternoon trying to extract the logic from a VBA macro written by civil engineers so that we can encode the same logic in the applications we're writing.
Sweet Jesus.
500 lines of meaningless variable names and loops reading values from various spreadsheets into a 3 dimensional array(!).
On top of that, now that I kind of understand what it's doing, I don't think it's ever worked properly.2 -
Sweet baby Jesus the stories are true. I thought this day would never come but yesterday I found a website in production straight out of a horror story.
Inline script tags that contained spaghetti code and static content. And to top it off inline style with position absolute for everything 😰😰
Also worth mentioning a couple of broken pages(404) and a beatufill repeat-y image for the background😳
I lost all hope😂16 -
Ok what’s better than waking up to the sweet smell of fresh rain & my brewing coffee?

My laptop has decided to die. Say goodbye to my dual boot antergos and windows. . Good thing I had money set aside for this very fateful day.
Goodnight sweet prince10 -
I'm managed by idiots who don't fully realize the nightmare they're creating.
They're making small operational changes, but hundreds of them with zero evidence to back their claims up.
When I bring up how it actually works, and how operations actually work I'm told I don't use the tools as much as management does and that my feedback is limited to how I use the tool.
So now I'm just gambling that they won't fuck up too bad before I get that sweet sweet sellout money and just letting them fuck everything up they want without any warnings from me.
I'm quickly learning that the phrase of the year is, "Fuck em". -
❤️ Swift ❤️
A new minor version of the compiler has been released !
How sweet !
Which comes with the latest Xcode, which is of course mandatory to deploy on your devices !
How cool !

I’m really shocked at myself but as a last resort I chose Lubuntu for a light live USB environment because all others kept fucking out or lagging etc but holy shit I’m really digging Lubuntu!

Lubuntu for the recommendation! 👌🏼😁1 -

Now that's how I like my operating systems!
Found these earlier on when shopping and was too cowardly to take a picture in the shop and leave them there, so I bought them. They taste nice too.

She's now doing a quick JS console log of 'hello world' in Chrome whilst I make the tea!3 -
Now on most websites I'm not one to want likes, normally I couldn't care.
But on this website, one single thing makes me want lots of likes.
Is it stickers? Nope.
Maybe it's that sweet stress ball? Try again!
Just want all that attention? Not for me.
I just really want my avatar to sit on an exercise ball.1 -
Well I got offered a position as the CTO of a local charity but the funding fell through. That job sounded pretty sweet.
Otherwise my dream is honestly not having one, like in a situation where I didn't need the money. I'd not working and basically just spend my time volunteering for stuff at my church -
If HR wants us (engineering) to fill out a form, you need to make it short and sweet.
The longer you make it (multiple pages, a lot of text, etc) the less people are going to fill it out / even look at it.2 -

Mantain a huge bad designed and worse written full stack project.
It was an internship and I was paid pretty well. It still lead me almost to a burnout; while sleeping I used to dream the project
They hired me a couple of months later to redesign it from scratch. I only rebuilt the db and I made a sweet job. 85 reduntant tables reduced to 30.
Then they fired me because they couldn't afford me. Still got paid well enough1 -
IDEs are a bane on programmers and entice you with sweet autosugar into habits and religious beliefs on style that have no grounding elsewhere than your little bubble.63

"Wow, that's so sweet of you, I'm kinda impressed you managed to pull that off, you are a very kind and nice person"

Best Programmer's Breakup:

P.S.: Still use all three Languages ❤8 -
At work, do you ever start with a plan for your day, get dragged into some other 'urgent' task and then into another, and your plan becomes a sweet distant memory?4

When you walk to the yard with a lappy to code some stuff in the nature, smth comes up and you leave your lappy running on a chair for 6+ hours, then finally remember it and it still has >75% juice w/o being suspended.

Git on Visual Studio is so dumb
I wanted to do a Pull Request, and when I checked the request, a conflict prevented from auto-merging and ask to resolve it in Visual Studio.
"What conflitct ?" I asked.
"You're on your own, fam" Visual Studio answered.
Real sweet.3 -

Do not drink a lot of alcohol when you are severely dehydrated.
Much regret.
Must find rag to fill with cold water, wring out, and place over eyes to reacquire that sweet, sweet unconsciousness.
Unrelated, if I haven’t told y’all that you should never Chumbawamba, you should never Chumbawamba. I did it once in uni and it was a super bad time. (Chumbawamba is what I call using Tubthumping as an instruction set. Do not take a whisky drink, then a vodka drink, than a lager drink, then a cider drink, etc etc.)6 -

This week I’ve been reinstating IE11 support.
OMFG WHY!? I hear you ask.
Is it due to critical legacy integration dependencies? AD Intranet logins? Draconian Group Policy rules?
Nope. This ONE user just prefers it! 🤯
How much are we getting paid for this nonsense? Sweet FA!

My friend: I think you two would really get along, once she heard you were a programmer, she really wanted to meet you.
Me: Sweet, OK, so you said she's pretty much in the same field as me, what does she do?
Friend: Oh she's in IT
Me: Nope.
Friend: What, why?
Me: Cute but , in terms you'll understand, you just don't try to arrange a member of the football team with the waterboy.8 -
Sweet talker but Incompetent colleague/team lead has given estimate of 350 story points (1point =1day) i.e more than an year and half, for one module to refactor. Worthless manager seriously considered to proceed with these estimates and ready to accept proposal.
When presented these numbers/estimates with wider audience, one senior engineer reminded everyone that module was developed few years back, in <2 months by 3 engineers.
Shame shame!12 -
Ebay is great to find cheap laptops. However auctions always give me a false sense of happiness when no one bids higher than I do for 4 days and then 15 mins before it has to end I get outbid by 10 people?!?!?
Anyway bought a used Thinkpad x200 for 25 bucks, added in an SSD. Sweet.2 -
I'm a C++ dev, but last month I was working in the vegetable fields to help my young brother and his business. And right now I'm going to sleep outdoor after my birthday party looking at the stars.
Free spirit is a good point dealing with free languages like C++ you know :D
Sweet dreams btw :p -

Actual Shower thought about showers.
Every shower has 2 “parameters”: Throughput and Intensity.
When the intensity is high and the throughput is high, you feel like you are being hosed down by the fire brigade.
If the intensity is low and the throughput is high, it feels like you’re standing in the rain.
When the intensity is low and the throughput is low, you get mist/fog.
If the intensity is high and the throughput is low you’re just being fucking pissed on.
Somewhere in between is the sweet spot imo.7 -

I hate how difficult it is just to schedule a meeting. Friday at 10 becomes Monday at 10 becomes Tuesday at 9:30 for some reason. Now I'm standing here, meeting is pushed to 10 anyway, and everyone is waiting on the director who's taking his sweet time. So now it's 10:15 and we're just waiting, hoping we can just get some actual work done before lunch.3

!dev but is somewhat tech related
So I was like 7. I was hanging out after school with a friend who's mom worked there. We were in her office. So there was a song l really liked are the time (Song of the South by Alabama) and it was on a CD.
So I put that CD in the computer and play my favorite song. Well literally 15 seconds after a line in the song, which was "Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth," played, my cousin who was in another teacher's office decided to
prank call us.
What did they say when I picked the phone up and said hey? "Sir your order for 1,000 pounds of sweet potatoes is ready to be delivered."
I nearly shit a brick as I slammed the phone down and started freaking out. I ran to where he was and bust in there to see themn laughing really hard
Now I look back and laugh, but I genuinely
thought that by somehow playing that song ordered a lot of potatoes.
And the wild part of the story is that of literally all the things they could say, they chose sweet potatoes. Like it still blows our minds that that's the choice he made.5 -
Unpopular opinion: Firefox is a better web debugger/ development tool than Google Chrome... so many functionalities packed in that sweet gem.11

Talking about PM, I'm still not sure whether we have one in our company. The project is managed directly by a senior engineer.
If we have any question about the doc, UI/UX team sits just next to us. We even have conversations on how to proceed the project to make us more comfortable.
I don't know aboit the others. But for me, this is sweet.3 -

Best way to learn something new?
You keep repeating it wrongly until you are blue in the face, the whole world has gone red and the sweet release of death sounds favorable to your current dilemma.
Then, if you are lucky, you get it right out of the many many failed attempts.
But, what you have learned is far greater than getting it right once. You've learned many ways not to do it again. -
The sweet satisfaction of seeing your work pay off and a annoying bug get squashed.... and on Christmas too.
And here's a write-up I have with the details and to be posted eventually on Medium...

Even Fedora has 'very frequent' updates. But they don't irritate you like hell! Who doesn't like updates when they come easy? But luckily for Microsoft, they've always been able to find a unique way to piss off their users someway or the other!4

Coming back to C++ after working in modern js-land for two years. Actually feels super sweet. I've missed overthinking everything.8

It feels weird now. I don't really have much to rant about. That's partially cause I haven't been doing much dev work lately (but the bit I have done, everything's been fine). My personal life is going fucking great for once, so nothing to worry about there (the girl I'm talking to is so fucking sweet, and just amazing overall)
Life is fucking good guys. I hope everyone that might have had a bad day or a bad week or whatever feels better soon. -

So I get sweet cravings when I feel down. Yesternight, after dinner, ate loads of chocolate cookies 🍪.
Dreamt of a dystopian society with things happening that could only happen in a science fiction setting with all the AI and cybernetics. Man that was crazy and scary at the same time. What a rollercoaster ride.
Gonna do it again tonight 😆6 -

Not humans, I don't want human brains.
But computers. Sweet little bad-ass machines. -
This is just a sweet little harmless block of code, why should I unit test it?
3 months later...
Bug in production : This is why. -
That feeling when you fix a bug after you've been working on it for an hour or two.... Ahhh.. Sweet relief.
-
oh danish
oh staple of police and fat techies
how i sing my love to thee
when my brain slows
you nourish me
when my mood sinks
you uplift me
but oh gentle sweet lord
the sacrifice ! the sacrifice !
miles must i wander weary of soul and body
or cursed do i sit a heavy head on heavy shoulders
and widen the throne beneath me!18 -
I don't! I take the rest of the day off and revel in the sweet job security of a high-demand vocation (and ice cream).
-
So burnt out.
The worst sort of burn out is when your excited and you still wanna go but you can't seem to get your body to anymore.
Even on a forced break I seem to be thinking product.
I always thought it was so cool in movies where the coder is working there and sleeping there and eating there and chilling there.
Thanks to covid - I've first hand experienced this.
Oh and uh, I fuckin hate it.
I wanna go out.
I miss my coworking space with all the other idiots around me!
I miss eating out!
I miss going out for a beer!
Oh sweet beer how I miss the sweet breweries where I'd get fleeced for a pint!
Take my moniez! Pliz!
Just someone find a vaccine!
Ffs5 -
I just got back home after a nice vacation to the East Coast, last night. Turns out, what I missed the most about home was my mechanical keyboard.1
-
Why the fuck does it happen every god damn time???!!!?!??!! Oh look the 5(0) year old designer created an Armageddon (layout) and went on holiday but that's okay cause it has been already approved by our sweet project manager WITHOUT SHOWING IT TO THE DEV TEAM FIRST. Fucking this fucking fuck fuck! FUCK. You deal with this idiots, i fucking QUIT bitch bye.4
-
I'm using git bash on Windows 10, tried WSL, but it is really messed up needs more documentation, i had multiple installs of node js and other stuff including node_modules
So using git bash, I have my own sweet .bashrc file which is awesome, using bash or WSL is kinda slow, just wanna know how you devs have set up your terminals.4 -
that Moment when u programming with headphones and listening to sweet sounds of Metal-/Hardcore... and your neighbours just WTF1
-
I'm currently sitting in a hockey arena owned by my city, they offer free wifi, and cause I'm privacy conscious, I try to download a VPN for my computer. The motherfuckers block the download under the vague "violation of use policy" bullshit. Even better, I read the ToS they give you when you connect, and it says sweet fuck all about prohibiting downloads. What the fucking fuck do you have to gain from me not using a god damn VPN. It just makes no god damn sense.3
-
I wanted to take a minute from y'all sucking on each other's dicks regarding language/tech-stack/os/editor wars to mention that Netflix just premiered Saint Seiya(here in the U.S don't know about the rest of the world) and it is pretty sweet.
Evangelion is in it as well, so if you've never had the chance to watch it and would like to well there is a nice chance :D
BTW bets are on: at least 1 or 2 fgits will say some shit about Netflix.1 -
Just got myself a Pixelbook and man is this thing a sweet little machine! Excellent battery life, a pretty decent backlit keyboard and I can work on my personal project using VSCode and the integrated debugger!
Google is doing a good job with making Chromebooks developer friendly.2 -
Probably one of the sweetest bugfixes is when you can solve random application freezes by rearranging the operands in the if() condition :)
if (isCondition1() && isCondition2()) {...} // freezes the app
if (isCondition2() && isCondition1()) {...} // works just fine6 -
Email migration suuuuucks. Sweet zombie Jesus it sucks. And when people can't check their damn email, the world apparently goes tits up.
-
More high-level stuff, sweet libs, awesome frameworks and the next generation of devs complaining about bad performance and too much abstraction.
-
does anybody of you do freelance work and outsource it to upwork/fiverr and living the sweet nothing to do life (except talking to the customer and writing briefings)?
-
Me after seeing the problem statement: I think I can do this!
[Two hours and several failed iterations later]
Me : Ah... How much I desire the sweet release of death1 -
SWEET DEATH TAKE ME.
I'm doing the Insanity fitness program. Why were we cursed with a job that forces you to be sedentary a.k.a. a couch potato most of the time ?1 -
How the fuck can a virtualbox instance run slower on a brand new Mac Pro with four times the ram and cores than the old one that ran sweet?! What the actual fuck....3
-
Am I the only one excited for the RTX 3000 series not because of gaming, but because of all those sweet, fast CUDA cores? Never mind framerates, that should make training those models way faster.4
-
Beeeeedddddddddd wanna lay in soft sweet bed and drink champagne nightly and receive soft blowjobs until I nod off into Dreamland for a straight goddamn week
Oh and code and stuff to stay on topic lol1 -
slack seems to be having issues with connectivity currently.
sweet, maybe I can actually get some work done!
or maybe i'll just browse devrant for a few more minutes. who's gonna know? -
So it finally sunk in that now is not the time to develop a commercial app. I never did it because reasons (too lazy to explain it all), but I always wanted to and this time I was determined to do it, but it dawned on me that now is not the time. Right now I have to do well in college and learn as much as I can.
Sadly that sweet sweet passive income will have to wait, but I'm kinda excited. I have basically freed myself from the feeling of guilt of making slow progress on my project. No more of that voice in the back of my head "but I should be developing the project, not this random thing". Now I'll basically just try my hand at a fuck ton of stuff, see what I like, maybe get an internship with a teacher of mine, who knows.2 -
I hate it when things crash, but I also enjoy the sweet seconds where I can just watch YouTube at work because my computer is busy.
-
I just discovered the best way to get public WiFi in my new apartment is by sitting in my bed.
It's a struggle anywhere else and lying don't work... It's looking a special sweet spot... -
So I have an important decision... Do I stay up late to watch the Google Hardware Conference Stream... I love sleep... But I want to know some of that sweet juicy hardware...
And when I can buy my pixel 2 XL boiiiiiiiiiiiiii1 -
I think instead of being lazy today and sleeping in until 3, I'm gonna spend my Sunday morning early afternoon learning something new or building something short and sweet. Not sure what I wanna go after though! I started getting into openCV but I'm not good enough quite yet for it to be somewhat enjoyable. I am a swiss army knife so I work a lot of stuff but I'm open to anything.6
-
Worst: Writing a quick thing in Python, debugging endlessly because some class I created wasn't being instantiated properly and then realising that I haven't added the holy "()" while creating the object and before using methods in my unit tests.
Best: Creating some pretty sweet algorithms because I was thinking more out of the box and trying things out just for the lulz. -
I am an idiot.
Apparently, I was running 2 year old drivers for my APU. I didn't notice until today but now that I did, I get those sweet performance improvements. -
I right now work as a Remote Front end dev and I must admit is pretty sweet and flexible, however, I think my ideal job would be in a foreign country (Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong) with the same remote flexibility but with a Visa sponsorship, Working on modern web projects, progressive web apps etc. learning from others and improving my code. please let me know of any opportunity haha.1
-
Tired of imperative different-yet-all-the-same programing languages. What's the most awesome funcional language ever?
Bonus: sweet projects you've done in that language9 -
Linux distros are like candies, every distro is so sweet in its way,so many flavors to chose from, keep it sweet keep tasty ... keeeeep it linux ;)1
-
Debugging is not about process, it's about end.
(I just finished two week long debugging session - approx 5 hours a day. It was nasty bug appearing only with optimalizations in embedded C, you can imagine joy when it came to life tonight. So now I am resting at pub with glass of cider knowing I am loosing needed sleep but I simply do not care right now. Sweet careless.)2 -
So my laptop screen started flickering to black when movement occures on screen, making it look like a stroboscope and giving me a sweet migraine.
Impossible to code, write, browse or get anything done. Good bye finishing deadlines on time.
Don't know what's wrong, hardware or software, I have no freaking idea. But I'm tempted to take this as a oppertunity to blame windows10 whipe my computer clean and running some Linux OS instead.6 -
So I resigned from work 6 months ago and they counter offered with a sweet pay deal as they were totally fubar without me
That 6 month deal expired today and they are totally surprised that Im not going back to full time (so I can work on my start-up side project)
I've offered to go back part time on a more reasonable salary and they are totally pissed. Surely the writing was on the wall!!
Here is an idea. When your bus factor is 1... Hire some other people! -
Woke up with this parts song playing in my head though probably the first time in maybe 10 years...
So I googled the part I somehow remembered and got back an exact match and full lyrics... and an MV.
Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) (Official Video)
I start watching the MV....
https://youtu.be/qeMFqkcPYcg
And saw this so I'm like wait how old is this song... Apparently 1983...
I wasnt even born then lol7 -
At 4am there was some random youtuber in my head that reads reddit posts and he presents me one but it's blurry and he says hi there how you there are stupid but how stupid you are, humming hammers,
MOMMY THATS SWEET MIAMI MOMMY THATS SWEET MIAMI he's insecure go back then hayeens HIGH WINS HIGH WINS HIGH WINS HIGH WINS and he never stops
It literally feels like a broken neural network output, meaningless. But it's in my head, I never asked for this but it's there generating itself1 -
The year is 1999/2000 and my parents bought my brother a PC. Pentium processor, 128MB of RAM and a Sony Trinitron monitor. Sweet machine. Used to play Delta force, Heroes on it. My brother played Civ 2/3, Heroes 3 etc. Lovely times, no worries, no stress, the only pain was the champagne.
-
"Do you know WordPress?"
"I've used it... Haven't done much WordPress development"
"Sweet. How'd you like a job?"
This seems too easy...4 -
Monday AM. Instead of building images in the backend i'll just make them in HTML and use a headless browser to screenshot them ! Sweet. Doable in a day and saves the rest of my week !
Friday afternoon. Crashes, browser failure, zombie processes, intermittent failure, docker failure with headless browser. Still not working well.
Why am I such a dumb fuck ? -
Goddamn react bootstrap modalbox and select2 dialogbox inputbox freezing bug!@#$
2 fucking days in my mind and I can finally discard you. It was tabindex="-1" on sibling DOM Nodes. Sweet cherry bananas. From now on I'll keep an eye on you. -
I was initially hating on JS for the weak typing and type coercion, but after taking a look at the underlying algorithm it actually somehow makes me think the whole thing is sort of sweet and endearing. Not sure if this makes me a bad person or not4
-
>work as a team lead in a tiny startup that lives off of investment money due to a strained business team that should stop sucking
>everyone is underpaid
>make do with what I can, manage to push for raises to keep the team going
>one dev, Timmy, is a pretty nice fella
>with 1 very annoying flaw
“Why can’t we get all of our utilities paid?” “Why can’t we have unlimited paid time off?” “Why can’t we be like Biilionare Company XYZ?” “Company T gives everyone the latest laptop models” “we should be getting paid twice as much” “why do we have to work 8 hours?”
Constantly, to everyone.
I agree with Timmy in most points. He is not saying something I do not know. Sometimes I want to strangle Timmy, feed him his own nutsack, and kick him out to apply to billionaire company XYZ. He can have all those sweet sweet benefits. -
*me writing my sweet code like nothing bad could happend*
Xcode: bum! Compiling error
Me: what the...
*compile again
Xcode: yeah right. Bam! Error
*clean, etc. compile again
Xcode: yeah, try your luck looser
Me: ok, let's google it. First stack overflow answer: just change the simulator and should work correctly.
And of course it worked. And that's how it works all day.
Fuck you Xcode! Fuck you Apple! -
Oh the sweet anxiety that comes with job hunt. May the odds be in my favour this month as i attempt to crawl back into the corporate world (remote of course)3
-
When my mom asked what would I like to have - sweet corn or Avacado.
I said - Let's document all the possible approaches and setup some time to discuss pros and cons.2 -
Seeing the Apple event makes me feel bitter-sweet.
It's like seeing everything Microsoft did first, failed to polish, and gave up on; picked up by Apple, re-done wayyyy better 5y later and marketted to the general populace
I wish msft stopped giving up within 2-3y of failing. The gap will just widen5 -
I had a call with my mentor today and after 6 months of hardwork, she finally gave me a go ahead to move to engineering. I am so happy but terribly emotional that I did it. I am so relieved but such a mess.
Fuck that mofo who shattered my confidence all those years ago. I wanna kick his ass. Beware of sweet talking startup founders who have nothing to show for but everything to say about. -
Just wrote a long overdue tamperMonkey script that removes any post containing both the words "type" and "amen" from my newsfeed.
Aaah sweet relief!4 -
GoDaddy be all like: yo... you tryin to backup an old product?
me: yeah
GoDaddy: sweet. here's some mother fucking dial up speeds so you can do you, bitch.

Despair +
Craving sweet stuff +
Quarantine lead to a new interesting search algorithm.
I call it diabetes search.
It find's anything edible with enough sweetness or taste.
Current result is promising.
I found couverture chocolate, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla sugar, crunched haselnuts...
I had some eggs, flour, and milk left.
The kitchen looks like in the movies.... When a martial arts battle took place inside a kitchen.
And I'm slightly comatose.
But: Pancakes with something Nutella like. Just more nutty.
Diabetes search very successful.3 -
Ever heard of writer's block? Well I have developer's block. I have this sweet new workstation and no idea what to do with it.
Suggestions?4 -
man, this nginx micro-services stuff is unreal - take your monolithic OOP application and split it across your environment and let them talk REST to each other. so sweet!6
-
I'm working again with blue prism on a very very old SAP website. A hundred thousand nested iframes with a hundred thousand nested tables.
Please kill me, I long for the sweet embrace of death5 -
! Rant
Tmux. Motherfucking tmux, I don't even have to tell you how fucking good tmux is.
Combined with tmuxp, it's even better. Develop on all the devices with saved sessions! Share sessions across nearly any device? Fucking sweet. With fish and oh-my-tmux also?!
What a weekend!
I need some beer.2 -
Seing myself on devRant makes me realize I am a mix of sugar and salt : sweet, salty, and very dry.15

Whining about one’s job has become a trend now a days.
A job is not meant to make you feel happy all the times. It’s a bitter sweet affair. Let’s spend a few minutes appreciating the sweet bit that let’s us buy stuff we need and want, pay rent on time, go on vacations, have quality family time and so on…
Hope everyone reading this finds Atleast something they can appreciate about their current job. God bless.14 -
I've been trying and testing all kinds of frameworks to get up to speed with modern development. Tinkered with VUE. That was fun. Tinkered with Laravel. Also fun.
Now I'm looking at Agular. Sweet mother of christ, they want me to learn all this shit just to do some Javascript?
I would rather stock shelves at a supermarket then learn yet another crappt framework that will be redundant in 5 years. I'll wait for the next one.7 -
Emacs is the reason why I screw my own agenda for Saturday, but sweet baby Jesus the mode-line now looks H O T for sure1
-
Sweet Zombie NullFuckingPointerException...
New Rule: When creating an API (I'm looking at you, Java), designers must include a boolean flag in the parameter list of any method which throws a NullPointerException.
If TRUE, this means that a NULL result is non-trivial and the method should therefore THROW an NPE.
If set to FALSE, this means that NULL is completely f*cking trivial so whenever there's a NULL result, just instantiate a new instance of the return type and return that, 'cause that's what was gonna happen in the catch block of the NPE anyways.2 -
Anytime anyone asks me where I'm gonna get in life programming, I'm gonna show them the video of Steve Ballmer screaming "DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS", only to shortly be followed by wheezing, sweat, and praying for sweet air and mercy...
HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK MICROSOFT WINDOWS IS WORTH?!1 -
I love the goddamned app. You all seem like lovely individuals with a large dose of sweet developer attitude. Reading some of these posts definitely made my tired ass chuckle.
Just got off a call with my wife, she might join the site too at this rate. Glad to be in a relationship with another dev who really caches my heart like this.6 -
Just realized that before i did that commit there was this guy (let's call him a friend, fucking asshole from a different department who can't see someone is working before continuing their stupid conversations) took my attention away for 15-20 mins and i being distracted didn't commit 1 file out of 7 and ended up changing (exact same file over next code merge) it.
Now Everything fails.
Sweet afternoon work is gone.
To be repeated ....3 -
After learning react, webpack, npm, .net webapi core, ef core and some other sweet Tools for my new project it is so hard to go back to jquery, Razor and asp. Net mvc...1
-
So I love this episode of sweet tooth when giraffes show up in the grasslands near wyoming where it reaches ridiculously low temperatures and there are no trees compared to east africa where the lowest temperature is in the 60s14
-
Love me
I have pretty white skin
And nice shapely legs
And say sweet things while giving a hollow smile with a hint of malice behind my eyes *bats eyelashes*20 -
Self learned. I was introduced to programming quite early courtesy my dad who pushed me to use Linux. At first I learned basics, enough to tinker with stuff. Then I met python. It changed my world. Now I know C, C++, JS, PHP, Obj-C fluent enough and am working on others. But python will always have a sweet spot in my heart. Also, I think python 3 is a good improvement over 2. Not perfect. But good enough and it still has a future.
Working on SQL and Java -
Short but sweet:
why doesn't linux mint (an Ubuntu-based distro) fucking trim SSDs by default? Ubuntu doesn't do it by default either!9 -
I'm done. Fuck you TFS. If you provide me with an option to run scripts on deployment targets then please show me these sweet errors that somehow must occur as my script is not executed at all..2
-
why do the sweet sounds of the Monotone Player (DOS 3ch playback over PC beeper, seen in the demoprod "8088MPH": https://youtu.be/yHXx3orN35Y) put me to sleep
i don't understand -
Making board games in VB 6.0 with control arrays. Ah... The good old days... Control arrays were my answer to everything back then... 😎
Oooh and there was also the time I discovered the AutoIt scripting language and made MadLibs scripts that prompted for each part of speech and then typed the final result into Notepad. 😀
🤔 Or maybe if I go back even earlier... that time I discovered autoexec.bat and the escape codes for box drawing characters to make sweet startup screens for my Windows 95 install. 🤓 -

I am currently making a MS Access DB for my soon to be former workplace (compulsory social service) with a GUI.
It's a project administration DB with Schools, Projects, Plans, etc. I am making it because they used Access like a Excel spreadsheet.
How much would you demand per hour?7 -
are there others joyfully place like this one for #developers other similar Platforms where developer could meet and exchange like here ?2

Confession : I swear -> my sweet Arch Linux was freeze in my laptop in my super lightweight tty env + tmux after about to quit demonstrate my friend about vim in vimtutor on yesterday.

Thanks wolfgang for making some sweet tunes!2 -
Today I handed senior management an activity report dashboard for the system our product team thought was a black box they could use as an excuse to do fuck all.

Sweet merciful crab. Solved. Now I must never ever touch the code again because I barely understand what I did to fix it...1

Not really a rant, but...
during times like the last 3 or so months, being a dev feels kinda extra sweet: the only difference for me has been a raise and increase in productivity -
Sticker post!! Recently got to play with Stackbit, a slick way to spin up JAMStack sites and being a super early beta adopter netted me some sweet stickers.
As a dev stickers always make me giddy like a little kid. So dumb but I love it.
What's your fav dev sticker you've ever Recieved and what's the story behind it??10 -
PM on the first of the month: Okay, if you can finish the next part of this on-going task by the end of the month that'd be sweet.
PM today: I need you to finish this today. Oh and this extra job for another client has come out of nowhere, but that needs doing before the end of the day too. -
When you're a week behind in school because shit broke in production every night this week 🥲 I wish I could lucid dream so I could have some sweet relief by having superpowers or some shit.
But no, instead I get to be Mr. Fix-it lmao -
I don't know if anyone else has this issue on devRant, but I don't get the devRant app icon in my notifications the my Apple Watch. Would be sweet if it were fixed.
Though, I see Snapchat and some other apps also don't have the icons3 -

Is a sweet Christiaan girl who will behave until the wedding night then let me put my balls on her eyes really too much to ask for?3 -
First thing I see when I log online is Masturbate between work. heh. Oh that and a hate rant/lure to get some guy to come online and feel like crap or respond with a ghost account.
Seems most of the amusing accounts got caught off way back.
Now we're stuck with wonderful beautiful sweet people like @Hagarth trying to be some technoviking of code and @floydimus talking about getting humped in the butt.56 -
There's nothing quite as sweet as seeing someone in public for the first time in years and you both decide, without saying a word, that you're both just going to move along and not do the whole smalltalk thing.

Have I ever mentioned how much i love you all ?
