If you had
one language
One framework
To code everything you want
Would you learn it or let it pass
His code is heavy,
arms are weak,
mind is bending.
It's all spaghetti.
He is nervous but looks calm and ready
to go now
but he keeps on forgetting
what he wrote down.
The manager is getting loud
He moves his mouse but the bugs won't got out
They are features now
Time to ship
Over blaow!18 -
My brother and I have been messing with our IBM 5150 and doing cool stuff with it. I got it to play a youtube video via telnet via my bro's mac via mplayer with libcaca (ascii video output) + youtube-dl (a youtube downloader. The mac is doing all the heavy lifting, but it is still cool to see these images on a IBM 5150, just by typing a few commands on that old keyboard... more fun projects to come with this old thing.7

Me: Did Sherry let you know that I'm leaving today?
Coworker: what!? No!
Me: yeah... I'm leaving.
Coworker: huh, I'm not surprised...
Me: what is that supposed to mean!?
Co: shit man, this job sucks, I'm not surprised. I'll be leaving right behind you.
Me: oh.... Um... April Fools... 😬
Co: God damnit.
Me: don't worry, I won't tell the boss how you really feel.4 -
Boss be like:
Me: Hello Boss I will be unable to come to work tomorrow, due to heavy rains.I am literally living on an island now.
Boss: In your job application you mentioned swimming as your hobby.
See you at work @7am....1 -
When I was an intern, I wrote a very heavy MySQL query with multiple joins. Quite frustrated, I asked for some help from one of my seniors.
He came by on my desk and told me, "Explain your query!".
I was completely blank-faced O_O.
After a few moments, the senior grabbed this hopeless bastard's keyboard and typed "EXPLAIN" in the beginning of the query; and then ran it.
I thought he was being hard to me.7 -
Congrats to Rami Malek for winning Emmy Award for best lead actor in a drama series - Mr. Robot. He was stunned to win over heavy competition. Must be a modest guy.4

I entirely forgot that I connected my server which is running heavy and lengthy tasks, to that one, as well.

Alone in the office. Everyone left to see Portugal play. Time to blast some heavy fucking metal. 🤘20
-
Had a client on the phone with an extremely heavy Turkish (I think so, not entirely sure) accent who was hardly understandable but I kept polite and tried really hard to understand his questions.
Didn't go so well and he started to get annoyed and rude as well and asked me why I kept asking him to repeat his questions.
Told him that due to his heavy accent I had some trouble understanding him but that we'd take it slow and that I was trying my best.
He didn't take that well and called me a fucking racist (or, a 'cancer racist (dutch: 'kanker racist') but this sounds nicer).
C: (remember, heavy accent) "Ben jij kanker racist ofzo?" (are you cancer racist or something?)
Me: sorry, kan je dat herhalen? Ik verstond je niet helemaal goed door het accent, excuses! (Sorry, could you repeat that? I didn't quite get that due to the heavy accent, apologies!)
*BOOOOOOOM*
Client exploded in my ear xD.
Totally worth it! I'm all for helping and tried my best but if you're going to disrespect me, fuck off.8 -
I have just landed my dream job. Coming from a background of java and python, I applied for a C++ heavy company... The interview process was centred on algorithms and I passed it. Now I get to learn the language I have always wanted to learn from pretty hardcore devs while I am getting paid. One of the best fucking days of the 21 years I have been alive for.3

My little sister is taking an intro to web development in college right now... They're really setting them up for success over there with their unregistered copies of DreamWeaver... Heavy sigh20

other dev at work: "why cant i switch branch of my SVN repo like Git"
Me: "Cuz it uses different approach, different branches are at different locations......."
Him: "but how can i use it like Git"
Me: "you cant"
Him: "but why"
Me: "Get away from me before i throw something heavy at you"10 -
So my school forced everyone to buy a Chromebook G4 Education Edition which came with ChromeOS and we had to sign some shady e-policy. Days after I got it, I opened it up and manually reflashed the BIOS so I could use SeaBIOS and install Arch Linux.
Great, so I went on to instal Chrome and it was really slow and performance heavy, then I installed the new Firefox and it ran a lot faster...
*So hehe, Firefox works better than Chrome on a Chromebook!*9 -
Just coded for ~14h straight. Started doing some super heavy code cleanup and refactoring. Almost cried when I saw my code from the past.
Maybe it's time to call it a day...4 -
Umidigi, kindly go fuck yourself.
When --> I <-- buy a phone, I should be the fucking one who decides if I'm allowed to install a motherfucking custom launcher.
Your phone is awesome (second full day with heavy usage == 53 percent battery) but on the launcher thing, go fuck yourself. Also go to hell. No, go fuck yourself IN hell, that's even better.29 -
To all those web developers who load their entire fucking website in JavaScript - even on fucking news articles where JAVASCRIPT ISN'T EVEN FUCKING NEEDED, and top it off with a heavy as shit framework, BURN IN FUCKING HELL!!!18

Four meetings today.
Legal was not involved in legal agreement changes until I refused to make them without Legal signing off. Legal changed several things, leading to:
Project scope changed size from large to minuscule to small to medium.
Details changed at every step.
Despite being incredibly structured and process-heavy, people at this company are so disorganized. 😕rant "legal should be ok with it" "it's just a few words" another meeting another change sigh disorganization4 -
My life in a nutshell:
Page 1:

Page 2:
- buy Bitcoin ➡️ its price fell
- sell Bitcoin ➡️ its price is on the sky3 -
"I think my next laptop is going to be a Chromebook. I can do everything from browser and any heavy computing/coding I will just ssh to home. Sounds good."

My school's mascot is the duck, but I like to think that someone had some heavy code to fix up and just took over the campus2

— Java is too heavy on resources! And desktop apps made with it give you this fugly, custom GUI that doesn't blend with your OS's UI in any way!
— What about Node and Electron?
— Oh, these are amazing!10 -
Sick.
Worst sleep of my life last night.
Freezing cold, weak, sore, can’t think, starving but can’t eat or drink, as low energy as a dead Chinese “heavy duty” battery.
Finished some changes to my feature today anyway; everything should be done now. Refactored some specs, and got them all to pass.
Falling asleep on my closet floor. Heavy winter coat, fuzzy pants, space heater. It’s warm in here and there’s a shelf for my lappy. Floor is uncomfortable but idc. I’m so tired and out of it I don’t even notice.
This sucks.
At least I have the rest of the week off.21 -
Falcon Heavy launch coming up!
I can't wait. That's something people should watch, fuck the superbowl!
I would say it's 60% as significant as the moon landing was, if not more; a field of technology we should really focus on, but governments rather spend money on stupid war
Make sure to tune in tomorrow, 18:30 / 06:30pm UTC, on SpaceX's YouTube channel
It's going to be spectacular, success or failure7 -
Since everyone is posting their system, I'll do it now, too:
- Type: Laptop
- Age: about 5 years
- Weight: 2-3 kg (too much)
- Modifications: Paper below problematic keys; Samsung Evo 850 250GB SSD
- Usecase: School-Laptop with every Office-Suite I could find.
- Pros: Wrecks my PC with the boottime (Gnome > KDE); Looks really sick; Really lightweight Arch installed; Quiet when not under load
- Cons: Really heavy; Battery old and unreliable; Bluetooth stops working after closing lid13 -

After a long time I heavy heartedly thought to ask my question on StackOverflow and this happened
Me : How can I do this??
Asshole User : Sorry mate, but what you are trying to do is impossible
Me : "Shows that it can be done"
Asshole User : Downvotes my question and deletes his comment
Me : 😐😐😐
Now my question has 3 more downvotes

"If you wanted to improve your X skills, then the Y video course is exactly what you need"
No, fuck off with your promoted bullshit, if your course needs this kind of advertisement, then I can already hear your fucking heavy accent and lisp throughout a fucking shitty 360p video. -
I decide to come by scooter and the weather goes crazy!
Weather predictions are "Heavy rain to very heavy rain" for the next few hours!
Fortunately, I have a work-all-night-take-next-day-off policy (which my manager frowns upon but is cool with!)
So, code-mode ON! 😎5 -
What a fucking year it's been.. and it's only the 4th.
Let's see, I've just split up with my girlfriend of more than 4 years (and she's still living with me), my car got whacked by golf ball sized hail stones (and it's not insured), my back verandah at home turns into a swimming pool with heavy rain (and SA is having record high rainfall this season), and I haven't slept since Sunday night.
FML. 🤦 I need a holiday after the holidays..7 -
I cannot even begin to describe the rollercoaster of emotions I just went through. I'm on the train, the prompt says next station !my_station. By then the sign says my_station. So I rush off the train. I feel the lightness of a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders... And realise I'm missing my laptop bag, the heavy weight that should be on my shoulders. So I rush to the station office and describe everything about my bag and what's in it and the seat I was in. The guy can't get through to the conductor but the train will be back at this station in 30 minutes. I head home quickly because it's nearby and my fiance offers me a lift back to the station on her car. Suddenly we're running late. She's running red lights. I'm not going to make it. It's 2 minutes past arrival time. But the train is 3 minutes late! I'm running along the platform looking into the carriages for my bag but unable to see much, panicking. The platform is empty. The train. Is going to leave. Except for one lonely figure walking down with a bag in their hands. The conductor gives me my rucksack, tells me it's really heavy and heads back to his duties. I thank him and head back to the station office to thank the man on duty also. Fuck me that was scary.2

Me: "hey CEO, that product that's only had 3 devs on for a couple of years has grossed a million brit bucks 2 years running. Any chance we could get some laptops for the team that aren't heavy as fuck and 4-5 years old. Maybe some monitors that aren't tiny and dull as fuck?"
CEO: "no"
Also, what's people's dream dev gear?9 -
New guy (good friend) is on the line with me shadowing. OMFG THESE PEOPLE HAVE HEAVY ACCENTS. Only reason I can hear them is my babysitter has a heavy Vietnamese accent as well, so I'm used to it, but HOLY CRUD this is painful. I feel bad for my newest teammate28

Thank you for fucking me
Thank you for sucking me
Thank you for lying to me

Hi all! I've finally published my first open source project!
I give to you, The Web Toolbox! https://thewebtoolbox.cc/
A few years ago I used to make heavy use of thetoolbox.cc, but unfortunately it went offline. I thought I'd revive the project and improve upon the previous version.
I'm going to be adding new tools soon, and I'm really looking forward to any suggestions from the community.
Hope you all find it useful :)6 -
I'd tend to say Matlab :
- you don't learn to write good code
- if you start by learning Matlab, you tend to be stuck in Matlab
- it's heavy and ugly and expensive
- arrays start at 18 -
Uh-oh shit went wrong with umpteen thousand jobs in a pointer heavy, multi-threaded application in raw C. Fuck, some pointer gone wild?!
30 minutes later, after trying to find out how many jobs it takes to start failing. Noticed that it's about the default settings. Wait what? That's where the realloc'ing should kick in, check that.
Aahhhh. Maybe I shouldn't zero the whole buffer after realloc, just the new part. D'uh! -
Do you ever go into a public space and see everyone with their dell xps, acer swift 3, asus zenbook, msi gaming laptops, and then pull out your cheap af heavy plastic laptop and think to yourself:
"Why aren't I rich?"8 -
Positive internship update :)
I have asked the store department chief if I can stop working with heavy objects.
He said "of course".
I will just do light tasks. I am fine with that :)4 -

That moment that you finally have a functioning goddamn application and then you notice that the queries (Postgis) are so fucking heavy (one percent load up when executing about 5 simultaneously) that you start to wonder how you'll ever run this in production...
I know jack shit about Postgres/Postgis, this is going to be fun 😐14 -

What happened to the core though? 🤔6 -
Wrote myself a flight stability controller for a drone I built - used an ultrasonic sensor for altitude so it should've maintained a constant altitude, but I had the throttle increments too high...
Hooked up the battery - off it fucked, hit the ceiling, bounced off a wall, and broke 2 props before I could grab it and yank the battery off.
Protip - if you're building a drone, tie it to a heavy fucking rock for your first flight test!8 -

Been sick since Wednesday with a heavy feeling of dizziness and vertigo (BPPV). Basically I got sick in the week I intentionally planned nothing to tackle my workload and get some stuff done, but I was physically unable to work on it until now.
Meeting is on Monday.

(No, I am not panicking, pls send help)3 -
I'm not a heavy smartphone user, but going from having to keep phone plugged every few hours ( battery was shitting itself in my last phone ) to this is just incredible.
I have never experienced this kind of battery life other than in those old nokia brick phones.10 -
My former coworker had to mail their work equipment back to me..
6 boxes later..
Open up the first box. A mouse wrapped in about 4ft of heavy duty bubble wrap.. a keyboard box double layered in or.. and my favorite, a restore cd literally wrapped 4 times in bubble wrap. Why?
I'm scared to open the other 5 boxes8 -
".. palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy.."
Damn. Nervous as f.
I am getting ready to demo my system. At meeting room. Waiting. Fffff.

How the duck do those girls (co-interns) get to play shitty songs annoyingly loudly on speakers while we're trying to do important work and nobody says anything??
If that's the case, then I'll start blasting heavy metal at the same time 😎🤘 and see who gets annoyed..
That would be a good showdown 😈4 -

I bought my first VPS today. After years of hosting my email, websites, databases and backups services on my own physical servers both home and in real serverrooms.
Strange feeling, but it feels like something heavy was lifted from myself, I do not need to buy hardware if something fails.13 -
Some simple yet underrated tips for staying in the coding game.
* Coffee.
* Shower if your head feels heavy.
* A simple change to your theme or fonts
* Change of body posture: standups or sitting.
* Switch between desktop and laptop.
* Switch OSes, linux and OSX (good way to also ensure your config/build is portable)
* Long occasional morning/evening walks to think of solutions.
* Throw some shit on the political left on devrant..
Send me some coffee if you find these tips helpful. xD6 -
Nearly amputated my middle finger by smashing it with heavy armoured door. Blood popped and splashed everywhere, as if I smashed a well fed mosquito mid-july. The nail is broken across the bottom. Finger is swolen to twice the size.
Looks like I'm gonna have a fun start on the new project next week...Unable to code 😁10 -
Why is it that software has gotten so hardware heavy these days?
I get that some things require more ram, larger screen resolutions and games.
But even calculator apps are now in the hundreds of MB when the entire Microsoft office suite used to come on a couple of floppies.
Is it laziness and relying on ever higher level languages or is there some reason that stuff gets unnecessarily large now.14 -
Nvidia Optimus sucks ass.
Seriously, getting this shit to run on Linux is a pain, and the pain never ends because you need to run all graphics-heavy programs from the terminal with a specific command, otherwise they can't even fucking detect the video card.6 -
The more I study IT and programming languages, the more I'm leaving Windows for Unix. Windows feels so heavy, I don't know why.5

Hey React, why won't you die?
Seriously, you are cumbersome to use, heavy as shit, awful syntax and do only the most basic reactive operations possible.
Why do you have to re-render un-changed components?
You were good when you came out, but please, get the fuck out of job requirements everywhere.17 -
I am 99% done with my academic project, but still the workload is heavy, and I've got too much on my plate already, mom's spaghetti

Started a new job, they handed me a new phone and asked me to have my 2 phones with me all the time. So sad technology for putting 2 SIM cards in one phone has not been invented yet. Oh wait4

My coffee cup! Came home one Christmas and mom had been cleaning up a storage room. I've given it too her when I was young, but she never used it because it was ugly and heavy. She wanted to throw it away, but I took it, and it has been on my desk from the first day I started my job.3

I love hard rock, heavy metal, thrash metal... But I can't concentrate listening Metallica or Slayer. I used to study with electronic music, but really I don't like this music. Finally I found a solution. I'm listening videogames soundtracks like Diablo or Ocarina of Time and I feel better with myself.
What a nostalgic feeling!!!3 -
JIRA.
Plenty of good things happened at work this year. Then we started using jira. That "heavy" bucketfull of shit though.7 -

fuck these websites thAT ARE GETTING SO GOD DAMN HEAVY THEY LOAD WHEN I TURN OFF THE WIFI.
literally just fuckin shut off the wifi while this one bloated, shitty website loading aND THE WEBSITE DISPLAYED. of course, the gigabytes of javascript haven't loaded so the buttons weren't functional, bUT AT LEAST I COULD SEE THE CONTENT INSTEAD OF A WHITE SCREEN.
if ur gonna have a shitload of assets at least make your websites be viewable while the page is loading13 -
Sad. Laravel Valet uses Nginx. What if your office system is using Apache and is heavy in using .htaccess?
Ok back to MAMP and Docker. I'll just use Valet for simple things.7 -
People talk about how the Linux desktop is coming along. I don't really give a shit about Linux's viability as a desktop OS, or attempts to give it general appeal. In my opinion, that just introduces hits in performance and flexibility. It's a great desktop because I know what I'm doing. I want that. That doesn't have great appeal, but I don't care. Gnome, Unity, KDE, and Cinnamon are user friendly, but heavy as fuck.5

My laptop is screwed. The laptop's monitor doesn't light up at all. An external monitor works with heavy artifacts.6

Spent 12 hours getting deep into a heavy new feature for a client based on Google Drive integration.
Find out at the code review the next day that the specs i was given were totally wrong and all Google Drive integration is being dropped.1 -
so my job at this startup is more of a general manager over all departments, checking in making sure everything is going smooth (basically COO), but we just did a super private beta launch today as our devs went to sleep, i spent most of my night tonight bug fixing and doing some style fixes and man did it feel good to be back and doing that (especially since most of the heavy lifting has already been done 😂)

It's just after midnight.
I have a heavy workload starting tomorrow.
Going to require lots of time away frm my wife and son.
They're all in bed, but I am awake.
My only dilemma at this point:
Work on my side project?
Or play Command And Conquer?2 -
I just got a new phone, a Tecno device with a measly 8GB internal storage. Decided I'll have to root it, and force part of my class 10, 32GB mem card as adopted storage.
Went online, learnt for a few weeks, successfully rooted, and began enjoying the vast benefits.
But there are no good endings. Months later, while doing some heavy gaming, my phone reboots... and everything on the memory, pack up and go on a vacation... -
fuck javascript
node.js module system sucks. Like its module system is trash, who will want to download some fucking 1GB worth of packages to create a new project.
People keep on just creating other package managers. Yarn is good enough because it caches your packages but still, i am just from deleting some 2.2Gb node modules from my computer and just whyy ?
An area where internet connection us shitty and expensive it is just not very well.
Fuck javascript is everywhere so i have to use it,
typescript just adds another layer to the heavy lifting. You write some typed code to 'reduce bugs' but you generate much more heavy code. I could write in 1kb js file but i end up getting some 3kb js because what - i used typescript-ügvjpiahdjb
fuck javascript14 -

When you have to add new features to a 5 years old app, because it would be a heavy lift to rewrite.
So no dev lead has the balls to bring it through the board, so you are stuck with ancient and awful code.1 -
Work story.
We have this system that's being used nation-wide and basically there's a control panel for management (it's a website)) and an app for the regular users.
I just migrated and replaced the guy before me, I'm basically the only one on the project.
The code for the website is a mess, the servers are sometimes slow, and few security problems here and there.
Project Lead comes up to me and says that few of our clients that use the website are saying it works really slowly.
I start by analyzing the networking, and found shocking things.
First of all, let's say there's a messaging option, and the management teams that are our clients can have each a lot of groups, which all have messaging.
Upon first load, ALL OF THE IMAGES, FROM ALL GROUPS, ARE PRE LOADED. It can get up to few hundred photos being preloaded upon first load, which can explain the slow loading.
After discovering that, I discovered that the Administration control panel, which only my project lead can access, with sends heavy requests to the server and loads heavy assets, is loaded every time to every single client, generating heavy stress on our server and slowing everything down.
I tell that to my project lead and say that that's what causing the slow downs, I coded a fix that currently sits and is not being merged to the master branch to be deployed, and somehow I need to find a way to fix the slowness which all comes down to the heavy requests and slow connection with servers... And they won't merge my fix that fixes the loading of the administration panel so the stress on the servers could go down, and everything will be sped up....
Ah damnit.. sometimes I don't understand it..4 -
Reactive Java.
I actually rather like it, I really do. But the shift in mindset required, and the limited advantages (especially with fibres under heavy development) both mean I think it's incredibly unlikely to last.5 -

It’s still WFH in India. So, everything at home is a distraction. Indian households are noisy ones. Heavy traffic, loud music, constant interruptions by family members.

In my head (He's quite aware I lost my dad less than a week ago even if I was an hacker I'll expect and respect some little remorse atleast around moments like this, I would not be expected to do dirty shit at these times). I know this is the second rant on a row about this, but I really need to hear someone saying that IBM enterprise software sucks. Nothing works, everything heavy and slow as fuck, documentation doesn't exist, official developer's forum gives me an error on login, many IBM official pages give me a 500 internal error. And, in the end, this costed as hundreds of thousands of euro. Seriously?7
-
Spent hours troubleshooting an internal app that had zero logging today. It would just terminate, no exceptions, no feedback to the debugger, NOTHING.
Turned out to be the damn corporate virus scanner blocking "malicious" behaviour. Good thing my desk is so heavy or I woulda flipped it... -
Anybody here who does mobile development(Android or IOS) (not Windows) without using native languages like Java, Swift or objective-C and is able to get the performance like of those on heavy resource using apps?25

So I was working on a website for a club in my college. I designed a pretty decent UI and at first everyone accepted it. So I made a working website with my friend, made backend with node and all was set.
After that, the fucking member of club brought in another graphic designer for changes. And they literally made the whole website with heavy images. The designer made heavy neon backgrounds in Adobe Illustrator and didn't even compressed it.
They made the whole fucking website with images and they ran it all on localhost and were happy with the speeds! ಠ_ಠ
They even put an image in fucking Navbar!
And then I left that project, I could not see more destruction.1 -
"I want you to make a font, it needs to be heavy, but not too heavy. Like it should be able to float on water. So, bold enough to get a person's attention but not screaming"

Trying to redeem my free hacktoberfest shirt. Click the link in the email, pick my size, hit continue, and I'm immediately met with "this website is under heavy load" and the request fails... That's embarrassing.2

Which place do y'all go for developer related comics and memes ? Besides devrant ofc.
I actually wanted to use some in a boring article am about to write. Something with a sword and needle context, like people using heavy frameworks when a small snippet of native code could do just fine.8 -
Let's call her Silvia.
Silvia debugs her code by whispering it out loud: "so if this variable is two, then..."
Everyone thinks Silvia is great. But she asks for help whenever she runs up against the simplest of problems: "I have never worked with this library/dependency before!"
(Well, that's kind of the nature of open source if you ask me.)
Silvia types with superbly heavy fingers, making sure we can hear every keystroke, especially when she hits return.
I think Silvia overcompensates for something.2 -
I want to beat someone so bad right now. Guess I'll just do a heavy bench press later to release stress and anger 😤 well society. You can't just beat someone in a city because of laws. If we are alone in the desert then goodluck to him. So there's a reason on why I want to beat him so bad. 👊😡 sigh ok gotta practice more "mastering your emotions"

This is a weird Christmas. Got sick recently, so won't be drinking. Covid, so won't be going out. Fam is halfway across planet, so won't be really spending time with them. Won't be having heavy food either.
Overall, this is an extended weekend for me.

I got out of bed at 2:10am to film the Falcon Heavy launch from my driveway, where I have a direct, due east line of sight to Cape Canaveral. I’m thinking “What a time to be alive!” and “Why didn’t I pursue the aerospace career I started in college?”5

This senior engineer had this kid spend most of a day tracing down all of the instances of a certain variable so they could make heavy changes to the software. We work under a change management system of course and all of this led to two weeks of work outside of any of this. The senior engineer ended up 🔥 and the kid very close.
I'm still trying to figure out what makes someone do something like that knowing the outcome. -
Been working on a small collab with my 3 mates
It's just one guy who's doing all the heavy lifting
I chime in with a 3-4 line modification every day or so
The other two are afk
It's chugging along just fine..
I feel like a garbage can in front of this guy's coding ability1 -
So with my current windows heavy workload it is with a heavy heart that I commit to learning powershell. Wish me luck6

Gotta learn myself through vim and tmux because I have no choice. My laptop burst and all I have is a Raspberry Pi with Raspbian core + MATE DE installed. Don't really wanna use heavy stuff with it because it'll become really snappy.
Oh well, as long as I can code.9 -
Did you ever take advantage of clients that has less computer literacy? Like have you ever escape a bug in the system by telling the client heavy technical BS! 😋

Just went to my accounts in Google. And happen to go across my activity section. I had no fucking idea I was tracked so much! It even lists the app I have opened at particular time. It stores every frigging thing I do with my phone. Goddamnit! Yes, I understand I have agreed to share my information with you. But you just take everything.
Go to myaccount.google.com and head towards the my activity section. You'll know what I'm talking about if you are heavy android user.5 -

Started taking an Angular 5 tutorial to see how things were going in the world of Angular JS. I got to say, I am impressed. It makes me think of React in a lot of ways, but with a heavy emphasis on separation of concerns. Particularly suited for those that do not like to mix views with logic. I am liking it and going at it with an open mind although React is still my preferred option. One thing that irritates me is the ammount of "plz sir, can you give code for <insert complex and heavy app that people just do not give for free>".....so annoying.
On another note, I like how Angular brings in the concept of di among other things to the table, what I am trying to get is the feeling of writing 2 apps, there is one thing to have MVC on the background, the other is to have it in the frontend! Oh well, Angular (first edition) was fun and I know it decently well, time to get cracking on more code!! -

!rant, but friendly advice.
I see all those jokes about Android Studio being too heavy, and while I completely agree, want to ask you guys something:
Have you increased the memory it can use in .vmoptions?
Mine lagged as hell, but was using only about 1GB of ram.
After slight change in that file, it finally started working like it should from the beginning.6 -

Also, it is not possible to link to specific inner "page" since url stays same.1 -

Got some case of heavy eye floaters which can be either a symptom of age or intoxication.
Mine is the latter and I tried to detox with Chlorella algae. Threw in 6 capsules at noon and now it looks like they are nearly gone.
I double checked with an about:blank page, because by looking at bright and even textures I see them all (hence a dark theme is absolutely necessary).2 -

I fear that in the future there will only be 2 possibilities as software developer
either work for pennies out of passion while others profit off your work as more and more open source developers do

Me and my best friend were heavy drinking last night, without eating something.
Now, my stomach hurts like hell.
Guess I won't do anything today. -
TD;DR: I have school instead of vacation but 5 hours of spare time. I got my laptop with me and I'll work in school.
I didn't want to take part of the course-trip with the 12th graders (my course sucks, there are too many assholes for the neutral people to compensate). After speaking with the director, and the only condition was to tell the course why. I did deliver them a nicely put "fuck you, you bullied my only friend out of this school" and now is the time where I visit the 11-graders while the other 12-ers are on "school vacation".
I got a "new" plan for the courses I should visit. Today, Wednesday, I have 5 FUCKING FREE HOURS IN A ROW. Oh yes, baby, the teacher generating the plan hates me as well. (He really does but it's probably just unlucky not his fault).
So today, I decided, I would take my heavy-ass laptop with me, in a laptop bag, which doesn't fit into the school bag I have and my laptop doesn't fully fit in the laptop bag as well (sticks out), that's the perks of having a laptop!!
— so I can work on my (I wanna say this once in my life without being a professional) "CLIENTS PROJECT" - the funny thing is that the client is a (really fucking good but small) advertising agency and too lazy to design their own website. Since I had my internship, they know how hard I *can* work even without being payed. Now they do wanna pay me but that's another story.
I'm on the bus and I have this monster of a bag which isn't lighter than a freaking huge bag of rice and I'm so fucking excited for this day. The library is my best friend. Hopyfully I'm going to find a socket for power..

The app has to be demo ready in 1 week and my boyfriend as thinks everything is fine.

Visited a friend at their new workplace. Awesome office, really cool interior, nice people, devs are working on cool projects. Started to feel pretty envious.
Then we felt a rumble. Well, it was more like a rrrrruummbbble. Turns out they are located right next to a train track and the whole building shakes a bit when a heavy freight train goes by.
Guess who isn't envious anymore.1 -
So lately, I've been screen recording when I am working on my projects just for fun. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS (Bionic Beaver) and SimpleScreenRecorder for screen recording. I'm using VidCutter for video editing but for some reason, it's giving me some errors and not able to save my edited videos. I don't want to do heavy video editing. I just want something like Windows movie make if some of you remember that.4

I’m driving out to Cape Canaveral early on Feb 6 to see if I can get a good view of the first Falcon Heavy launch. The space geek in me can hardly handle the cool factor of Elon Musk having built a rocket company to send a car from his car company to ever lovin’ Sol/Mars orbit. If it scrubs, I’ll keep going out there until it launches. Wish me luck!1

Six hours of heavy debugging to find out that someone put a fucking coma instead of a fucking semicolon somewhere in the middle of a Google Analytics query.

In your opinion, should little projects for IT enterprises be developed in C#?
Because in my eyes, The .NET Framework should not be used for innovation - related projects.
It has many qualities like you can do almost anything with it but it's heavy, difficult to adapt and you're really dependent to what Microsoft added in.12 -

Finally convinced the senior engineer I'm working with to let me use Angular CLI for our front end because of all the added things we get compared to what he had originally setup for our Angular project (plus it's a phenomenal tool). I was slowly adding in things to make the app better (more like a PWA), but what pushed him over the edge was the platform-webworker package letting us off load some heavy tasks into a web worker. I'm excited for the improvements coming!

It just hit me that despite being possibly the most object-heavy language out there, JavaScript actually wasn't even properly object oriented for the longest time. No language-level support for Encapsulation, Inheritance, and without a strict class system, it can never really have polymorphism or abstraction.
Since literally everything is an object, it's impossible to make it object oriented 🤯6 -

Man I hate how CSS is treated differently on different operating systems using the same browser, let alone making the same UI heavy application perform identically on android chrome and iOS Safari.
Messing around with the css to figure out what all properties are treated differently, this is how the exact same code behaves on chrome on iPad versus Linux.

Struggling to write my Engineering Thesis code. Not because I'm afraid of tech, but because I have no idea what it should do.
I'm testing mobile apps performance, but getting the right idea is pain in the ass. :(
Never been too creative, but always have been over ambitious and lazy.

I'm looking to get a laptop, and I want your opinion on which one to get, because I'm a dev and don't care about whatever most reviews are looking at. Here is what I want from it:
1. I'll be running linux on it
2. I need it to be powerful enough to go through heavy development
3. It has to be decent sized 15" and below
4. It needs to stay cool under light load, under heavy load I've got a good cooling pad
5. Battery is not that important, and discrete graphics are not that important
I will be hooking it up to a keyboard/mouse/monitor setup when at home or work
Any suggestions? I've been looking at lenovo thinkpads for their ruggedness and dependability and Dell laptops as they've been around for a long time. Ultrabooks (like the XPS) are appealing but I don't know how well they deal with heat and thermal throttling under heavy load? -
Rect is heavy so if you gonna build lets say a website, it will be heavy.
But wouldnt be awesome if we could import like small packages that contain a few functions based on categories?
In this way you can have a light app or website and also use a framework
Just my 2 cents!5 -
I just want to get a job developing. Currently doing heavy equipment. I'm still in school but damn I need experience.1

Turns out -- unsplash api was returning me 6K to 8K Fucking images. HEAVY. HEAVY FUCKING IMAGES. and i was apparently displaying 6000x8000 px images, 20 times per page. Thats a lot of fucking pixels! I reduced it with ?w=500 in unsplash api at the end and magically there is no delay now and everything works in an instant.
Fuck off6 -
What about Manjaro Linux? How many of you guys actually used this distribution? I did installed this distro on my pc. Everything's neat. Battery consumption is lower than other distro I've used before. However I'm facing an unusual behavior though. My laptops fan is making more noise than ever before. No heavy applications running. As soon as I hit the power button it seems like a fucking airplane is starting. Lmao. Is it related to os or something else?6

My MacbookPro won't shutdown fully. Also while on sleep mode, my apps automatically gets closed for auto shutdown (which will be prevented by iTerm's dialogue box for session saving).
I tried clearing SMC & PRAM multiple times now.
Am from southern India and the temperature here varies between 28 - 35. And my usage is heavy - approx. 13+hrs a day. 'Pro' is meant for heavy usage right?
And I dont usually shutdown my MBP I simply closes the lid, is that a problem? Have you guys experienced such an issue? If so, how do you overcome?
Am concerned about it, gimme ur usage patterns / tips to solve this..1 -
Making distributed scheduler that queue and run tasks on containers or other executors in future and also pulls new tasks from defined git repositories.
Tasks are added based on simple yaml configuration.
Need that for my side projects that gather data from multiple sources from time to time.
k8s looks to heavy for that and airflow can’t be configured like I want it to be so I started writing my own on Monday.
Nearly finished poc version.2 -
Let's say we want to host a small-medium project currently running on shared hosting (ehm) in cloud. What do you recommend? Amazon or DigitalOcean or something else? Our requirements are: availability > price, a good price/performance ratio, EU servers with possible North America expansion. Emphasis on availabity.
I think a simple 4-8 core server is going to be enough for now as our app is not resource heavy, but we may need to expand in the future.9 -
Which is a good platform for dedicated servers, privacy-wise, and if possible (but it's not my primary goal) not too heavy on my wallet? I'm finding it hard to find something reliable that won't hand out my ass data to the first cop it sees. Which are the best companies? Also, since it would be my first time, how I recognise a bad service?1

Best:
- Getting a decent pay for 13h job, so I can study additionally
- University switched to fully online, such that commodity of 2h+/active university day are gone (guess this is dev related when studying CS)
Worst:
- Admin heavy job, with only minor development tasks and no senior developer to learn from
- Nightmare project still alive and under maintenance1 -
Looking for eReaders. I had one years ago, but I forgot it the first time I left the country and it doesn't work any more. I read near to one hour a working day, so I'm not that heavy of a reader, but I mainly read while standing in the subway and the books I choose are getting too heavy.
Anyone using Kobo readers? I would rather get theirs to Amazon's... but it seems everything is more comfortable using the kindles.
Please, debate :)3 -
There is a fine line between chic corporate speak and not cool corporate neologisms.
Then there are these gems from the client:
- major blocker: "showstopper"
- the situation is becoming high pressure: "things are getting hot and heavy"23 -
Then you have shit storm of work all week and friday night is for heavy drinking to feel f-ed up all weekend to reset yourself for next week...

When I implemented a supplier's library, I noticed my app froze every time I called that library. I then asked the suppliers if they were doing any heavy stuff on the main thread and they told me they weren't.
Luckily, they were "right", StrictMode told me they were only dumping a whole log file... -
I like to listen to music LOUD when I am doing heavy coding, but apparently my headphones leak and coworkers complained they could hear it. Any recommendations for headphones that will contain the sound?6

It all started on a nice summer afternoon. I was minding my own business just using my wonderful laptop with Windows 10 software installed. Then I woke up and realized the truth. I am sick of the scams, the lies, and the games. Today you will all see the same colors as me.
Most of you are probably on a Microsoft device and have had problems with it. A great example of Microsoft's failure is the line of phones they attempted to market. I was forced to own one for a period of time and it is absolute agony. Never force this way of life on another human being. While we are here, why the fuck is Optifine only available for Java Minecraft. Why even have two versions of the game when they cost the same?
These petty offenses are nothing compared to what I am about to tell you. As we all know, Bill Gates is friends with Mark Zuccerberg. Mark is known for his cult of reptile info scammers. Just this association alone is a red flag. This means that Bill Gates is a reptile as well. Reptiles only trust other reptiles.
These "people" are lying to us! Bill Gates just wants you to think he stepped down so he doesn't get the hate and shunning that comes with liking Microsoft. It was just an excuse to get his cult followers to do his job for him so he could run the new world order and the pedophile ring that he co-owns with Jeffrey Epstein. You think Satya Nadella is the "New CEO"?! Bullshit. He is just another Microsoft fleshlight.
Not only is Bill a disgusting liar, but he predicts the future and uses it to his advantage. This is how he has built his cult following and his multi-company empire.
You people need to wake the fuck up and boycott Microsoft. You are all being subliminally brainwashed into thinking it's okay and that "It's just the software" NO. Stop supporting pedophiles. Stop supporting reptiles. Stop supporting shitty products, and STOP LICKING THE CORPORATE BOOT. In conclusion, fuck Microsoft.10 -
Been a while since I used Android Studio, the moment I hit build my laptop looks like its about to fly away, fans spinning so damn fast :\6

Looking for opinions about clojure from people who work with it, I am not familiar with clojure but saw a job posting saying their code base is heavy on clojure.1

Using AWS DocumentDB elastic cluster for a sharded managed MongoDB
It's ass is so heavy!! More than 15min for scaling 2 -> 3 shards!
Am I taking a bad decision?7 -
Looking to get a decent laptop for programming which I can use for heavy apps like android studio. I'm open to all options including Mac, surface laptops, need suggestions5

It should be at night (after 9/10pm; I work better at night anyway), headphones on, music blasting (heavy metal nowadays), alone, preferably no distractions, but now that I am at home for xmas holidays I have to be on the lookout for my parents calling me. When I go back to uni I can eliminate that variable from this equation and so I should be in the zone for longer. Hopefully 😅

Let's be real a second, hiDPI and multiple DPI display support on GNU/Linux (xorg) sucks.
It apparently has better support through Wayland but I hate gnome3 (does KDE implements Wayland? don't really care I don't like it too, way too heavy)2 -
Am I the only one who hates admin templates??? They are just too heavy and make most admin panel look alike....

Databases are designed to support read heavy applications. A typical read write ratio is 10:1.
Is there a database that is designed to support a write heavy application?
What some examples of write heavy applications?9 -
What do you guys think of the Adobe's new "Photoshop" on voice technology?
It's innovative, but I understand it's benefit other than heavy potential misuse it can used for.
See the video: https://twitter.com/ziyatong/...
RIP voice over artists and impressionists, it looks like your job is gone.1 -
Every manager does *not* need a heavy process they are championing. They definitely don't need to be enforcing it on other teams that don't need those changes.1

Should I use C++ and WebAssembly to do heavy calculations on client side instead of buying heroku workers? Is it wise?3

I know I need to use twitter and Instagram to help leverage my online presense into a job opportunity.
But as a jr developer experienced that's not heavy on social media, I go early don't know wtf to write or tweet. And I don't want to post "dev content" related stuff because I dont wanna be laughed at.
What so I write or post? Help7 -
I hate heavy-duty frameworks. I'm currently working with both ABP and Angular and they're both just godawful. They're inelegant solutions that just fucking eat through my computer's RAM. It's just slow, generates code that my IDE analyses and finds problems with. And the application runs so. fucking. slowly. I like how it enforces a separation of concerns, but that's about it. Oh and in the name of God, why would anyone do anything with angular now that we have Vue? Why? I can't...2

Tower case with a turbo button and seven segment led display showing 10 or 100 when button pressed. Heavy CRT monitor. Running Windows 3.x ?

I've been searching for a C# dev job in the UK for a month or two now but all I'm seeing are ASP.NET or JavaScript heavy roles. Am I just unlucky or are all companies moving to web apps? Any advice?1

I don't get it, it's interpreted, why you creating a new structure for every single fucking transformation instead of transducing them transforms into a single one and running it ONCE?
no wonder this shit's heavy3 -
I'm starting to reach the edge, the fucking company is refusing to hire more people because of "budget concerns", I am tired of doing all of the heavy lifting. Oh well it was a good run, have an interview on Friday and I'm so burned out I don't even feel like studying....wish me luck...1

Years ago i had the "it will take 15 min max" mentality. Now i am in "i will spend 30min to convince you that its not necessary or if it is your heavy approach is wrong"

The moment when you are desperate enough to integrate forceUpdate into production code.
Also I like how apollo-client acts like enterprise grade when they do all the heavy crap in the UI thread.3 -
Do you all rcmd me desktop pc or laptop for running vm and some heavy software like photoshop and premiere pro ?

Where is the mac vs ubuntu vs windows war for developers? I am a Windows user (on a dell latitude e5570), but I am considering a new laptop because everyone says macbooks are great and outperform windows (which on gradle builds is true).
I mainly use my laptop only for developing and programming things like: full-stack, Android and a little bit of deeplearning/ML.
So which one would you recommend and why? These are pretty heavy tasks, from my opinion.10 -
Any recommendations for decent 13 inch laptop under 1400$ USD
- Atleast 8 gigs of RAM and option to upgrade
- resolution >= full HD
- storage >= 256 GB SSD
- battery >= 6 hrs heavy chrome usage
- Linux compatibility
- Cpu- nothing heavy - browser and docker containers, no building or compiling15 -
Guys I am having a question for a long time....
Say you want to work while traveling. How do you handle monitors? I ideally want two big (not the small ones) monitors while working, however it's impossible to bring two monitors, one is heavy enough...
If one day some company invents some very very thin and foldable monitors I'll be very very happy.17 -
A pair of good phones and a great music! Specially a good heavy metal or a even better classical music #spotifyinveins

Pff today I start 400 threads in python initialized in a for loop, one thread per record, each record initialize a heavy process, Memory Limit Exceeded, I'm frustrated with this shit!
How to run 400 records doing a heavy task preventing the CPU to close the task executed by timeout limit exceeded, or how to run multiple threads to end before reach timeout limit each task without exceeding the memory limit.
☠💩🐱💻9 -
I have a daily data limit on my mobile data which is the only one I use since the others are shit including my current landline connection. There's a good one but it's not available in my area yet.
So I have to wait days to download anything heavy. To top it all off, my friends with their great internet downloading gigs of stuff makes me feel empty inside.1 -
Lately, I've seen in some article against the Electron framework and read some people thought that "the Web, in general, is a waste/curse/..."
Did I miss something somewhere about that? I know Electron has that Java syndrome where it has to pack so many things in one executable while it could be less heavy than this (here, the Chromium browser for instance), but the Web in general?3 -
Apparently this generations idea of ergonomics is fucking skewed to resemble video game controllers they only get good at via repetition they only get by fucking around.
Instead of a sticking to a known format to operate heavy dangerous machinery
I mean if you have to learn you'll learn but Jesus another point regarding their stupidity -
So... According to this chart devs should not listen to heavy metal and punk...

Lockdown has got me reading a lot of books. Books about business or startups are a lot faster for me to read. It’s like reading a story book and I’m done in a week. But reading technical books (like I’m currently reading SICP aka wizard book) is a lot more heavy duty mental work. Y’all got any pointers for me about this?2

So today, at workplace, while discussing something we came at a point that why now a days many folks around us are screaming at JAVA or boasting about modern languages? where as many good concepts originated from it as well as even in many orgs the heavy lifting of huge tasks like in spark is done using java.
A thought came into my mind that, are we kinda becoming lazier by using languages like python, ruby which help to do tasks with little code?2 -
So how about all the decent jobs this guy could do eh ?
Can't be doing heavy lifting if it's designed to break the body at this age -
Uh, oh. Helping finish a project heavy on forms. Notice that everything is straight up jQuery to pull and push every single individual input value. Not a form tag in sight. But there are tables. Tables are everywhere.
