Person: I want to learn to code neural networks and cool AI stuff.
Me: Look into Python or Lua.
Person: Those are too hard, I'm going to use HTML instead.
I got out of there as fast as I could. 😅11 -
Manager: How come the intern does way more tickets than you?
Dev: Because you told me to only give him the easy ones since he either can’t do them otherwise or takes too long on the hard ones
Manager: Well how is he going to learn if we only give him easy ones?
Dev: That’s what I told you when you orig—
Manager: Assign him ALL of the hard tickets on your board immediately!
*Tickets closed per day drops significantly*
Manager: WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG ON THESE TICKETS!!!!!
Dev: …19 -
Don't tell them to run "rm -rf /" as root. That's too nice. There might be inodes left on the hard drive.
MAKE IT WORSE:
"cat /dev/zero > /dev/sda" as root.
LEAVE NOTHING.13 -
Rekked/insulted a client so hard today in a way which was obvious for me/colleagues but not for the client that the colleague sitting next to me completely fucking lost it. (client did not detect/notice it)
That's entirely fine as he was not too loud but his laughter is so fucking contagious that he went outside to make sure that I wouldn't catch it any worse while on the phone.
God damn it took some serious self control to not completely lose my shit xD (it only partly worked 😅)18 -
During teacher office hours a few years back: if you have questions on your homework, maybe it's too hard and you should switch majors to something easier, many girls do, so there's no shame in it.
I had asked for verification that my standard deviation logic was correct before spending the time coding it and then figuring out what was wrong.
Ps- he's no longer employed by the school for other sexist reasons.28 -
Why do people (Some devs too...) bloody hell think that devs have Hard time fixing the Semi Colon issue, we have a lot of other issues to figure out, like the Structure of Data, Code Fragmentation, API Creation, Invalid Data Handling, Injection Prevention. But no, since we are developers, we are having sleepless nights because of one fucking semicolon? FUCKING NO, it hardly takes 30 seconds to figure out that there is a missing semi-colon. Really People, stop the ; thing!10

When I get home, my wife will probably tell me about all the fun things she did with the kids today. She'll tell me about all the frustrating things they did too and stories about how they made her almost pull her own hair out.
Then 20 minutes later she'll ask me how my day was and I'll say, "Oh, I dunno. I worked on a really hard SQL query today..."3 -
My teacher told me not to do a project. He said it was much too hard.
I did it.
2 months pass
And then i come to him with anothec project idea.
Same thing goes, nobody believes in me, but i still succeed.
in the aftermath, i was able to create an interpreter AND a compiler in about 1 year... 😁22 -
"For our app we are using Docker, so for the new server we will need a barebone Linux install"
"Oh please no, Linux is not for a stable server and is very hard to manage, let's install Windows Server 2002 and you can virtualize everything you want"
"Wait, we really can use our cpu cycles to something better..."
"Sorry, too late, already installing!"
Our sysadmin is a Microsoft integralist, we should RUN!18 -
Every single diagramming tool.
All the SaaS ones are either way too limited in function, or proprietary vendor-locked.
All the FOSS/desktop ones have a 90s UX experience.
I really want to make a great, comfortable-to-use diagramming tool which just directly uses SVG as the file format, but without the "FUCK IT DOESNT ALIGN CORRECTLY AND WHY IS THIS ARROW BEHIND THE REST" experience...
But I know deep down that it's hard work, and I'll probably get stuck delivering the gazillionth lackluster, bugged diagramming app.20 -
I love how most of my friends that said they "like computers because its easy and you get a high paying job doing nothing" are quitting college in less than a year because "its too hard!"2
-
Mother of god, choosing a topic for today's security/privacy blog post is hard!
I have too much choice 😅23 -
I almost did rm -rf / as root on my computer, but Ubuntu actually stopped me from doing it, even as root, saying it was too dangerous. Props, Ubuntu. You saved my hard drive.9

It's raining. I love it.
It's foggy. I love it.
But I live in a desert and nobody here seems to know how to handle the rain, let alone the fog. (It isn't hard, people!) Last night during my ~30 min drive home from work, five separate accidents/collisions happened just a little ways behind me because it was raining. Now it's foggy, too.
I have to go to work.
I'm scared.12 -
It's hilarious how people complain about exiting Vim being too hard and then being proud of themselves.
Guys.. Not being able to exit a 30 year old text editor doesn't paint the best picture about your intelligence.13 -
When I was a kid, my dad was always busy. He is an orphan with next to inheritance and had to work really hard to send me to school. I don’t remember playing with him ever.
He is about to retire in a few years, so he gets some free time now, but now, I’m struggling too hard and don’t have time for anything random at all. The generation gap makes it impossible to share anything at all.
We don’t have any common interests, and don’t get to do stuff together.
Today, we built a mechanical keyboard together. 1 hour. I absolutely loved it.4 -
Stackify published a fun devRant article in their blog where I highlighted some of my favorite rants: http://stackify.com/co-founder-davi...
Just to note - the rants in the article are in no particular order, it was too hard to actually order them so it's just random pretty much. I also unfortunately didn't have a full list to go trough, so I'm sure I missed a bunch of great ones. I gathered all of these pretty quickly, but they are still some of my favorites, amongst many others that are not included.3 -
So many bad dev habits...
But the one that results in the biggest headaches afterwards?
Me, when given a problem and being asked an estimated time: 'This shouldn't be too hard, gimme X to do it', only to later find out it's way harder than i imagined.4 -
I put a sticker under the optical mouse on one of my team mates then he started to rage when his mouse is not working. Then he started calling technical support and they, too, didnt know what cause the mouse to not working. I wanted to laugh so hard, but I must resist. Ahaaha xD2

The last 5 months have been tough.... My boss ( who was a close friend) quit and I become interim department head... Trying to run a team who didn't seem happy I'd taken the reigns.
At the same time my wife's ongoing battle with her anxiety had gotten worse and she really needed my help with everything possible at home..
In March I was confirmed as the HoD but I was still doing 3 to 4 days a week on client delivery, trying to support all presales activities, manage a team of 10 people, travel for work and support my family....😩
It really got to me and I was close to breaking... The worry of not replying to an email ASAP no matter what time of day would eat me up, working late every night... It got too much and I was running on fumes with my weekends just me completely wiped out and useless to the family. 😓
.....But.....
I had a escape last weekend to a 🍻 beer 🍻 festival with friends that I was considering not going too and just losing the money but the wife made me go...
And it broke me even more... So much that its somehow put the pieces back in the right order in my brain and snapped me out of my major rut!
Somehow, sitting with friends, making stupid jokes, drinking way too much and blocking out all the work crap gave my brain the hard reset it needed. 🤟
This week I've come back a different person ( wife's words) work is a breeze, exciting and encouraging.... 👊
I can't get enough of playing silly games with my kids all night
And couldn't feel any more positive about things if I tried.... Set that spark back for my wife too! 😏💏
So.... After that long rant 👀
Tl;Dr - work and life got too much... Close to giving up... Too much beer with good company gave me a hard reset and I feel like a new person.... 👍
Plus the team is now loving the new direction and strategy too 👔
Who says drinking is bad for you? 😂🍻11 -
TLDR; My 2TB HDD got wiped in one fell swoop by a 9-year old child.
You know... I've never been too great about keeping backups. Even to this day, I only keep one or two local backups and nothing on the "cloud".
So this was about 5 years ago. At the time, I was living together with my girlfriend - who would later become my wife. She had a son from a previous relationship, who at the time was 9 years old.
I had a small desk in the living room of our one-bedroom apartment, that I used for my computer, which has been a laptop for a long time now. One unfortunate thing about the layout of the apartment was that the wall plug near my desk was attached to a light switch.
I had a 2TB external hard drive - with its own power cable - plugged into my laptop. Then, things started to move in slow motion... The GF's son comes inside from playing, my GF asks him to turn off the light. He reaches over, and shuts off power to my laptop - and the external hard drive.
He must have hit that switch at JUST the right fucking time. The laptop ran on battery, no big deal. The hard drive, when I powered it back up - was wiped clean. I tried data recovery on it, but the HDD was encrypted, which makes things more complicated.
Needless to say, I was not happy. I never got that data back, but I did learn not to expose my hard drives to 9 year olds. Very dangerous little creatures.
You want to know the best part? He destroyed another hard drive of mine, a few years later. Should I tell that story?5 -
Why do users find it so hard to understand short and clear error messages that are in place to inform them what's going wrong? Why do they instead waste my time when the message clearly says that the password is too short and hasn't got any special characters? FFS!4
-
Today, I reached a new level of laziness.
I lied down to watch a movie and I was too lazy to copy the movie from my external hard drive which was in the other side of the bed.
What did I do? I've downloaded the movie once again and watched.3 -
In an interview, when you throw a simple piece of code to a candidate...
Candidate: ...
ME: (maybe I'm too hard on them)
Candidate: ...
ME: (ok, I definitively have to simplify this little pattern example)
Candidate: ...
ME: ...explaining the short piece of code and give'm the answer
Candidate: haaaaa that's what I was thinking but I used that long time ago...
ME: (Yeah... nice try)2 -
Realizing no programming language or concept or theory is too hard to learn. My retinas may burn out staring at my screens but I will get there eventually.3
-
Anybody: so where do you work?
Me after a pause: i milk cows at local farm...
(too hard to explain afterwards, also avoid "fix my computer, phone, printer..." and "lets make a bitcoin mining app")4 -
I think Suicide Linux is a little heavy handed. Really? One mistake erases your hard drive? Please, let's make things interesting.
I would rather use Casino Linux.... try your luck. Any mistake sets a random single bit on your computer to 0. You could be lucky and it would set unused memory to 0, doing nothing. You could be an unlucky bastard and corrupt everything. You could be a super unlucky bastard and corrupt something important and only find out much, much too late.

I got a promotion at work!
Is it weird that I don't want it because I still feel like I have too much to learn to no longer be a "junior"? I'm happy that my hard work is paying off but I'm worried that this is how bad senior devs are made.7 -
First (procedural) c++ lectures:
Prof: K guys, go ahead and attempt the homework
Students: sir, how can we have 1 file per exercise?
P: oh, you can't, just make one huge file with multiple functions and rename them to "main" whenever you wanna run them
Me: WHY DO I EVEN PAY FOR THIS BULLSHIT
Ps: not allowed to use classes as that's too hard...8 -
Once interviewing a developer I asked her what was the most challenging work from her experience. She said it was writing a game of tic tac toe, I paused for a bit, and asked her if she can describe in more details which part of it was challenging.
She said, "I am not too familiar with the rules of the game so it was hard".
The whole room went brain-freeze for 10 seconds before anyone could find a way to continue the conversation.6 -
My friends computer had a dead motherboard, so I chucked his disk into my PC to copy his files to USB.
We turned on the computer after plugging the drive in, and it showed up in Windows explorer. At which point I was thinking sweet this will be easy. But when I clicked on the drive to open it, the screen immediately blacked out with a pop. I look down at the PC and see smoke pouring out of the hard drive 🤔😯. I didn't know it was possible to literally fry a hard drive, I think I'll just stick to software after this...maybe I should be booted from Linux USB in the first place \_(ツ)_/¯
Thankfully my friend wasn't too annoyed as he had a recent backup!1 -
Please allow me to share my thoughts since I can't totally outrage my frustration because we have this so-called fasting to control our anger towards a person we currently disagree with.
A letter from your loving, sincere, pretty and gorgeous working partner to my young, chubby, smart and clever colleague:
Please do cooperate in times of live editing from the FTP since CTO is not and will never be going to appreciate version control since CTO is too tired for giving a shit and just want deliverables be delivered as fuck perfectly regardless of the resources that we have.
As you know, I tolerated you for not getting the freedom of live editing as what you've experienced from your previous team lead. All I ask of you is to get fresh file from FTP whenever we touch the same file because firstly, God knows how frustrating it is how your hard work is going to be replaced and be gone as much as I do. Secondly, I don't want you to experience how pain in the ass could this be in the long run, and lastly, I don't want any hard feelings to be wasted just because of this.
P.S. I'm too shy to send this to you because I don't want to hurt your feelings and don't want to sound too seriouz and feel old. I also hope we share the same telepathic understanding so we can agree with each other.
Your loving, sincere, pretty and gorgeous working partner,
xoxo ❤️

Dev memes usually make me cringe. It's like the people who make them are trying too hard; the lack of social skills just jumps off the screen.2
-
Me: I want to be a dev..
Mom: But you only sit in front of the computer to play games.
Me: That's not what I always do.
Mom: Then why are you sitting behind the computer all the time.
Me: To make software. Most of the time you clearly see me typing code.
Mom: No, I can't trust you, you play too much games. Study hard and get another job.
Me: *Middle finger behind a back.*5 -
Pathetic dev moments: Any time my macbook fans rev up, I worry that I'm working my baby too hard, so I start closing applications.3

My family is very supportive. My 2 aunts are working in technical fields, and at least 2 of my cousins are working in IT and one cousin is studying CS too. My dad works in IT and since I started my studies he always talks to me about his work, when he finds errors and bugs and rants about his colleagues :D He also helped me debug some code. My mom is supportive too, but sometimes when I mention to her that this and that is hard she goes: "Oh, what did you choose?" (Rhetorical question)
But all in all I'm happy. Reactions of "outsiders" are those which bother me sometimes. But that's a different story.2 -
Woke up from my sleep last night because the solution for a long running bug hit me. In a hurry I ran to my work-desk not too far from the bed and flipped open my laptop so hard I broke the screen.
I’ve sent the laptop for repair but my night was so long I didn’t want to get off because previously I only had one problem but then it doubled.2 -
Lesson I learnt the hard way today: ticket every fucking task (including admin) to:
A. Cover your arse (if the tickets are not ready because they haven't given us enough information, push back on it before committing too much effort to doing it)
B. Better deliverable (what you output will probably be better quality because you worked out the requirements upfront + you know the audience)
C. You have something to show management when they want to try and overwork you some more4 -
Interviewer: Oh ...we don't really use version control here..it's too hard to get the different offices on the same page.

What manager says: You should support IE because a very large portion of our userbase is already there and they somewhat comply with web standards so it shouldn't be that hard. Also most good sites support IE so we should support it too.
What web developer hears: blah blah blah SUPPORT IE blah blah blah SUPPORT IE9 -
1. Actually focusing on developing stuff instead of learning languages.
2. Having fun instead of trying too hard.
3. Get a good job.2 -
Linux is hard to learn and master. That's fine with me. Windows is intuitive, but not user-friendly. Linux has a steep learning curve, but then is far more user-friendly than any other operating system. To me, that steep learning curve was far more than worth it, as I now have a desktop that does whatever I want, and behaves exactly as I want.
People come to Linux hoping that it will be easy to pick up, and then get angry when it isn't. Then they claim that the community is toxic, because Linux users are happy with something they think is broken.
Linux is hard to learn, and that's fine. That's valuable, to me. That's part of the appeal to me(and millions of others). Linux is unforgiving when you lack the knowledge gained in that steep learning curve. That's fine with me too. As its userbase grows, so too does the number of knowledgeable people who work to make it better and invent more amazing things for it.
If Linux was easy to learn, it wouldn't be as good as it is, and to me, that's reason enough to love it.38 -
Hey there! -first rant-
I need your advice mighty ranters.. I'm an introverted gal studying Computer Science at uni, and i love this field. Wanna be a web or app developer..
I need your help about 2 things:
1. Literally ANY advice, or things you wish you knew, when you were a rookie
2. I'm currently living in solitude, because of hard times in the past and i find making friends much more difficult at uni than in high school. It even starts to affect my productivity in a bad way. I have a hard time trusting people.
So any advice about this? How do you cope with too much solitude? Is there maybe a group for girl programmers? I don't know..
All advice are welcomed! (and IT jokes too, to make my day :D )
Thanks a lot !
Ps.: You are great! Awesome community.20 -
I swear to god if I see another goddamn todo list tutorial im gonna fucking switch careers. JS fanboys with their blogs... jesus christ i thought npm was spoiled but god, try googling angular tutorials... Seriously, you pick a framework and write a useless shitty blog article about the most obvious implementation? Is that your thing now? Write a tutorial on how to make a mailchimp clone? too hard? I thought so. Your mum must be very proud of you crackhead9

Today my boss told me I work too hard. I wanted to tell her, "No I don't, your other employees just aren't that good."1

Got a nice blackmail email sent to my work email during the weekend. Too bad when I got back to work on Monday he already sent the pics. JK this is a work email he doesn't have shit on me.
He did send the email from my email but the password he said hasn't been since I started working here. I just feel insulted. Come on guys let's donate so he doesn't share how hard I work.
Here's the email: https://text-share.com/view/...9 -
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Okay, I'm feeling a bit better now.
How to stop being a lil bitch? Why does it seem like everyone got the "don't give a shit" patch except me? I'm working hard on getting my shit together, I've made MASSIVE progress, but everytime I'm feeling good and confident and ready to take the world head-on, I just kinda crumble again with the slightest mishap. This needs to stop. I'm really trying SO hard not to snap. Fucking hell, being aware of all this makes it even worse! It's like I'm two people, one is a downer and REALLY good in draining my brain power, the other is the guy who's typing this and knows that life shouldn't be taken this seriously, but doesn't stay in the cockpit for too long. I'm extremely tired and mad. I just fucking hate this.9 -
So a non-tech colleague just walked in and asked if it was possible to find and replace "level 1" for a star in 200 .docx files. Considering the fact docx is xml I thought it shouldn't be too hard to do this. I received her email... Including the FF-ing star as a png image! Here i thought she meant a *. Ah.. Hell no!

Try to put my favorite software installed.
Reboot failed, drops to BusyBox shell.
Me thinking : I fucked up.
Friend walks by, couldn't read shit.
Friend: Look at his kid, he's trying to hack into someone's computer.
Me: (Agrees just for reputation) Yeah, damn teachers been giving me bad grades.
Friend: Could you help me too?
Me: (Don't have hacking experience, making shit up) NO, because your not my best friend. And school security is hard to crack.
Got away safely1 -
Gotta be honest, getting around illustration software is actually hard. There are just too many items, and my view is small.
Head spinning... 😵6 -
Just noticed my boss turned a nice and beautiful polymorphic code into a fucking hard to maintain switch case that now this mother fucker here has to maintain just because he probably thought it was too hard to understand.
I bet he finds it hard to fuck his wife in any way other than the one she needs to wear a strap on and tear his ass apart...2 -
Shootout to my 2.5GB Maxtor hard drive, that I heavily used between 1997 and 2001. There were no USB drives, and CD burners were too expensive for consumers. So I used to open my PC case, remove the drive (along with Windows and my software), bring it around at my friend's house and have fun while copying hundreds of mp3s, patiently downloaded from filesharing and 56k modems or ripped from CD audio, in and out.
One time it fell out from my desk, hitting hard floor big time. I thought I lost it forever, and basically my whole PC in it. Then I tried plugging again its IDE and power connectors, and it was still working! ... well, half of it. That badass still continued to work with one of its two platters crashed, and got some more mp3s with it.
Maybe I still have it...1 -
had to laugh way too hard about this in the office today, feels like it was invented for our team

Qin Chen, a 38 year old facebook employee, recently committed suicide and facebook is trying really hard to hide this.
Apparently he was too stressed out at work and was trying hard to steer things his way, he almost succeeded, but then his manager backstabbed him and left him helpless.
Instead of promoting a better work culture and taking steps against such malpractices at workplace, facebook is trying to hide this incident.
Facebook has to realize that them behaving this way not only insults the departed and his family, but also raises a question that is the life of any of their current employees of any value to facebook, or do they just look at them like workforce and not humans?
Let us not be silent. It was Chen yesterday, it could be any one of us tomorrow.28 -
User: This web page form is too hard to use and is prone to have wrong data filled out.
Me: Uh...ok. Here is a redesign. You literally fill out one text field and a date picker.
User: Oh this is great, thanks.
*checks the database and the very first entry they created had the wrong date.*

Me, programmer(not employed yet): you know what is crazy about coding test? I can easily do manually what test said, but teaching it to computer is surprisingly hard.
My brother, teacher(not graduated yet): I can easily solve middle school problems too, but teaching to kids is hard part. It seems like we do similar thing.2 -
I hate backendphobia! It feels like so common nowadays. People scare other people with backend being too hard and stuff, and that feeling of scariness is something that infects lot of people. Please stop fearing the backend!
Yes, some backend stuff can be hard, but there's no good reason to fear it. I just hate it when I go to a new team and they all seem to be backendphobics idiots. I've build enough backends to not give in to the fear, pls stop scaring people.11 -

Making an MVP is hard as hell. It's not even coding that makes it hard, it's knowing when to stop that's so damn difficult. By the time you're ready with something, your brain says "Hey...wouldnt it be great if you added this!" Then you add it, "whoa add this too!"...several days later:
Brain: "The fuck is this, all you needed was that"

Customer: I need a one page website, which must have an administration panel , so I can change and add new sections. I will also have designed a unique logo and a unique web design. I think you can do it in 5-10 hours , so I'll give you $ 50 and $ 100
Me: ehmmm... I need more time if it is to be unique , and one hour cost of $ 5- $ 10 is not enough.
Customer: fuck it. I do it my self. it can not be that hard , and I think it's too expensive.

When someone is presenting their code for aspects of a terribly made page.
They know you are proficient in 6 different languages, and then still ask "is it too hard for you".
Holding back my comments, just sitting down and smiling inside.1 -
Upgrading RAM in a customer's laptop, pretty easy, right?
Well not in the Asus VivoBook Max. You have to disassemble everything just to get to the slot under the motherboard because it was too hard to put a fucking hole in the bottom for that. 20 minutes to complete the job and you know what? I also managed to break a flex cable so now I have to fix that or buy a replacement for the whole keyboard/mousepad assembly.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK3 -
I laughed waaay to hard at this. Anyone using kotlin? The language seems really nice, i currently develop with React Native if I can avoid java on android (too much to do too little) and was thinking about kotlin.2

A story from around 2005:
Customer laying out specifications: “We expect this software to need to last 25 years or so, and it will need to keep historical file processing data by dates for at least that long, assume storage is no issue.”
Devs at the time: “look best I can do is support that start with 200 or 201, anything else is really too much to ask. Also understanding how to work with dates at all and not just string manipulation is waaaaayyy hard yo.”
Fuck you lazy motherfuckers. This is why people thought Y2K would be a problem. -
Ah, shit. First, I get downvoted a bunch, by a rogue jester bot I assume, then the retoornuke goes off, and with her account, even more of my hard-earned updoots lost into the ether.
How is this important? It isn't. I'm merely annoyed. Needed only a couple more to get myself a pet, I was so fuckin close maan. Now I need about 60 again, so not too bad actually, but if you see me shitposting at an increased pace, then you know why.11 -
Before I decided to learn C, I had heard tell of pointers being "hard to use". Of course I thought "maybe so, " after all, that was basically the only thing I heard about pointers, "they are hard!".
And so, when I learned C, and I got to the part about pointers, I was expecting at least some trouble (I can't know everything) and it was just... easy? Maybe the trickiest thing was how * has two different meanings based on the context (declare/dereference) but that was easy too.
Why the hell is all I hear from people about pointers is that they're difficult?11 -
"Don't go too crazy with the design, this is just quick to get it out, this is a one time deal" - management
Half a year later...
"Well if you would properly design components up front, it wouldn't be so hard to extend the code" - management
Well if there were some sort of god forsaken process in place, with assigned tasks, priorities, iterations, and conventions, maybe everything wouldn't be a last second shit show and there would actually be forward progress on a project instead of throwing shit over the wall and hoping everything lands in the correct places.3 -
Every single stakeholder in my company tells me that I should be working on something different, every time I talk to them. For example - we've got some issues, that I've ranted on previously. I go to my manager, and tell him that it's going to take longer than I'd hoped, because the author of this part of the codebase wasn't familiar with functional programming or OOP, didn't document anything, and just generally produced an unmaintainable, borderline indescribable mess. The next guy after him made it all so much worse, because they're both a couple of tryhard douchebags, and I hope they fucking die. For real. I hope fire ants are involved.
Anyway, getting carried away there, whew. So I tell my manager that we'd be further ahead just replacing the code, because it's only doing a couple of things, and should not be so complex. He says "cool, but what you really need to be doing is rebuilding this other thing." So I switch gears and work on that other thing until I hit a point that requires the input of another stakeholder. I go to talk to this guy, and all hell breaks loose "why are you working on that, this is higher priority", and I explain the sequence of events. Manager denies having said what he said, I look like an asshole, yet again. Then the old "this should be simple, just change this" from the dudes who don't know code, and don't want to know. I try to explain, offer to show them precisely why their "simple ask" is anything but, but they just start screaming about how they hate technology. Yeah, well me fucking too. I keep hearing about how much "job security" I have, but man I'm going to lose my mind at this rate. I have seventeen motherfucking things that are "emergencies", and as many fucking dumb ass unintuitive workflows to go through to get them changed. All on production, because this place is fucking stupid. Just let me discard this shitty legacy code and be done with it already. FUCK.
Thank fucking fuck it's friday. In about six, seven hours, my goal is to be so fucking wasted that I can't feel my face. Get drunk, play with the dog, install a new distro on the desktop, maybe play a little guitar (the guitar is normal sized. It's not a ukulele or anything). Perfect friday night.8 -
Arguing with my friend what language is best for his program.
Suddenly he says "C++ is good but CodeBlocks is too hard and illogical".
I love wannabe tech guys.9 -
A friend approached me with an "unpopular opinion" regarding the worldwide famous intro to Machine Learning course by Andre Ng.
His opinion: "shit is boring AF and so is the teacher"
Honestly, I loved it, i think it is a really good intro to the actual intuition(pun/reference intended) to the area. I specially like how it cuts down the herd in terms of the people that stick with it and the people that don't, as in "math is too hard. All i want is to create A.I" <---- bye Felicia.
Even then, i think that the idea that Andrew Ng is boring is not too far from reality. I love math, i am by no means a natural, but with pen and paper in front of me and google I feel like i can figure out and remember anything, i do it out of sheer obsession and a knack for mathematical challenges. That is what kept me sane through the course. Other than that I find it hard to disagree, even if it was not boring for me.
Anyone here thinks the course was fucking boring as well? As in, the ones that have taken it.8 -
Being an expatriate, too far from my people..
Being an employee in a sucking company..
Being with responsibilities, husband, soon to be father..
All of this sometimes make me sad and not feeling well
I think life is getting hard for me.17 -
It was back in 1996, when dad taught me how to run games from DOS it was a mind-blowing thing and for me a black screen and white text was a "wtf it's too hard" thing. Then he showed me how to format and I felt like he was doing rocket science 😂2
-
apparently my bank's password length limit of 10,000 is too much for paypal's app to handle and it fucking imploded. sadly, no screenshots were allowed by the app, but it fucking broke so hard it spat logs and shit at me with no formatting or anything. it was NUTS dude8

Coworker: I've been working on this computer for an entire day now and it's still having issues
Boss: Well, we can give the client an option to get another SSD and clone to it before reinstalling the OS.
Coworker: But he doens't have an SSD...
Boss: Yes he does
Coworker: *opens computer* let's see, two 1TB hard drives... but no SSD... Oh, there it is. It's hidden. But it's booting too slow to be....
*epiphany*
Coworker: Oh my god. I've been telling the computer to boot to the wrong hard drive. That explains everything!1 -
So, by a cruel twist of fate I ended up on the front line of tech support for the app we've built. It's aimed at non-IT professionals, in general people who are not expected to know too much about computers but who should have at least two neurons to bash together in their pretty little heads.
No.
It really makes me drop my faith in humanity considerably. Clicking a confirmation link is too much. Filtering an excel sheet is too hard, despite it being their technically main work tool. Tickets are basically "shit's broken go fix". What is broken? How to reproduce it? Why do you expect the person on the other side of the screen to be a fucking diviner? I recently ran all out of dove guts to search for the answers of your questions.4 -
Manager: Keep the debug logs
Me: I won't use them as I use the status report or run it manually to see the problem, but fine whatever.
1 week later
Manager: the debug logs are hard to read, the status report is hard to read too but it's a bit more concise
Me: Yes. The fuck you want me to do? I don't use logs and don't care. You can write code, make the logs more useful to you if you want to use them.2 -
I taught myself to programm (properly) when I was 27. I got a job in 2016 as a junior developer but had to quit in early 2017 because I relocated with my partner to the Bay Area.
I'm finding it very hard to find work, no one looks at my CV seriously 😭
I turn 30 this year and I feel like I left things too late...
It's hard being a junior dev at 29 haha.6 -
I have successfully achieved the developers nightmare.
Eating with siblings at the table yesterday and found the printer to be broken, again. Okay, easy fix, I thought; connect it back to the WiFi and its good.
My mom asks to teach her how to fix it, but it was too late because I already did. But then there was my younger brother. He says “Ask Gerry, he is the printer guy.” (No, Gerry is not my real name)
I didn’t take it too hard but I did joke with him by fake attempting to punch him. I think he got the point.😂1 -
Why is it so hard to find internships in india? !!
Aaaaaaaarg
If you're not from india, is it hard to find some there too?5 -
It's hard to find someone to have real intellectual debates with these days, many like foolish jokes more than serious discussions about topics ranging from CS, history, physics, astronomy, technology, anything significant...
Is it just me ?
Ignorance is spreading at supersonic speeds
Or am I expecting too much9 -
Me coding and researching to fix new things everyday and people come to me saying:
"You are working too much"
And I'm thinking: actually, its a never ending learning job, I dedicate so much because almost everyday I learn at least one thing.
But knowing that non-tech people have a hard time around it I just answer: yeah.3 -
I've made a fucking retro game and it takes too much time and effort to make this thing when I complete my game I showed this to my cousins and their first words was it is too boring anybody could make it could you make something like pubg or fortnite when I listen to these words they were fucking demotivating and made me drive crazy I don't know how do I explain them how much hard to make something like this.14

Google wanted to be politically correct and gave faces different colors. But apparently using "black" or "asian" is a shame too so all of these emojies have same name.
This decision was very poor as it's hard to implement this duplicity in frontend so as always Devs choose easiest choice - just use the first one. And first one is always yellow...
Congrats on making whole lazy Dev world using your "correct" emojies enforcing only one face style.3 -
Our company recently moved to git and the number of people who do not understand basic git concepts like commit and push are too damn high! I don' get it, its a completely logical model, what is so hard to understand.4

For as long as I can remember I watched my dad at his computer doing work and programming, so I got interested in computers. I started using and mastering computer skills when I was 5 and helped people with their computer problems. I was hesitant to learn how to program because it looked hard, but I eventually have I'm and started to learn Java at 12. I started by making Bukkit plugins for Minecraft (1.7.10). I learned to program, because I knew that computers will one day help people, and I wanted to help people too.2

Just came across a function with a typo (this is in TypeScript) - let's call the function slightlyComplicaedName - see the typo? t is missing. Wanted to refactor the function name to fix the typo. Next thing I know, the project doesn't compile anymore. There was already a function called slightlyComplicatedName in that file and it was doing something completely different.
I get that naming is hard, but using typos to differentiate between functions seems too much :)2 -
Need a C++ partner..
I'm self taught developer and it's kinda hard to understand the code of your own.. since c++ is not an easy language to master I need partner whom I can easily discuss code and topics of c++. I'm in slack too and it's great community .. has people who always willing to help you out.. but the thing is it's really weird to ask simple question there again and again.. so i wanna have some partner to discuss C++ code easily..11 -
Damn this week topic is hard.
I am gonna go with managing a team. I have to use the DRY SOLID YAGNI KISS on daily basis at non-dev tasks too.3 -
I'm in an open space
Since there are new people, they are formed so people are talking. So I put my headphones with noise reduction.
But I'm with a team that communicates too, so my music shouldn't be too loud.
Man it's hard finding the good balance in the volume.1 -
I might be pushing my 4 years old macbook pro too hard with 2 IDEs, 1 instance of datagrip, and tons of open browser tabs, all on 4gb of RAM..6

Machine learning is hard! Spent a whole day with Weka and it's Neural Networks. God my brain. There is too much to know before being really equipped to use this tool... especially from code.6

Me: Ah, I need to delete /path/to\ some/directory
... starts typing
rm -rf /path/to
finger slips, touch "Enter" too hard for my comfort, heart skips a beat, but nothing is happening. Phew. I dodged a bullet.
I'll never ever learn this lesson.1 -
Ok I need a second post for this week. A tech lead decided to have a one on one meeting with me in public on the clients' floor where he decided to get angry at me (in public mind you) about using too many design patterns and inheritance because that "makes the code too hard to read. Instead use a lot of if-else's like I do." So not just is he an idiot, he did this in public on a floor with people who didn't know programming so now I look awful. I was furious.2

Why not release the devrant (mobile+web) client on github (and maybe gitlab for people that would actually contribute but are special about the usage of github) so people could contribute to it, leading to faster progress? I thought about it now for a bit and couldn't see any problems with that, since the current apk can be anyway unpacked via freely available tools (appcelerator doesn't make it too hard either anyway 😕) and the website/api isn't any secret either (see the 4000 clients getting patched together out of zombie like api calls)21

To not become too pessimistic, I have decided to say one good thing about Eclipse each day, but damn it's hard!5

Gives an award winning VR idea to our 'Digital Manager'
Says it's too hard for us to do ( it wasn't ) , goes out and pitches it to another digital agency for 'Help', ( mainly coz of the freelance commission )
They go ahead with the idea and make their campaign with it.
we don't get anything. no credit, nothing.
I wonder how the hell someone become a manager with that much of stupidity.2 -
Once I signed up for newsletter at grid. I don't consider myself a grid member and now they call me a gridster... trying too hard to establish a loyal community 😅 I guess i should now feel like i belong. "I am a gridster, deal with it"

The company that I work for is very loud and noisy, making it really hard to code.
First day in new office, bigger space in the same building....PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE NOISE AND LOUDNESS

Sorry guys, I have complained too they dont care.3 -
"Working as designed" : slang. The acceptance criteria were too hard, so we only completed half of them.

Hi im Nika call me Phazor , i got into programming when i heard on discord about html, then i learned html, css, still working on JS (Hard), im only 27 percent and i skipped the functions because the string interolocation / perameters were too confuseing, also after i finish js (might not) , im going to see if i can create a Tampermonkey user script for a game! =D and probably use repl.it to see what projects i can create with JavaScript113

Why in the fuck is it so hard to see buttons when kb selecting with tab in a browser? It's like:
"Tab....Tab.....Tab Tab Tab... oops, went too far,
Shift + Tab, Shift + Tab.... fuck!, too far left.. wait, is that button actually highlighted, oh it is too, wtf."
It's 2019, why is this still a thing?8 -
i always assume that my code is right so when the compiler gives an error, its hard for me to find out why it gives an error and why it doesnt work. my mind is too convinced that it is correct.

After I took some time off from work, I decided to accept the offer for maintenance of two projects. Those are from two old clients, so I think I will not stress too much, since I know what to expect most of the time.
The issue is, sometimes I have a hard time to keep concentration. In the past, I could work for 3h straight, totally focused, would pause for 20min for stretch, and then come back to work. Now I can only focus for 30min or 1h, and after a pause, it's hard to concentrate again.
There is a lot going on in my life right now, and I know the worry is probably distracting me. I'm trying to listen instrumental music, drinking coffee... But that's not enough. Somebody has any tip?6 -
that BS thing you do when your too lazy to code and just copied a code from an existing class and renamed the vars even if it does not work or not being used just to show your boss that your working hard as f*2

This stupid computer is in clamshell mode connected to my screen and mech %99.999999 of the time. I take it with me on a trip and the down arrow key breaks off (little plastic shit-thing snapped off)..WTF? 2013 Macbook that has about 5 hours of total keyboard-use, at best.

I find it so difficult naming my classes, and Id’s in html and naming my variables in both JS and PHP. They are either too short and vague, or too long and specific. Haha Sometimes I wonder if I should use underscores or camelcase :( hard choices! >.<1

Personal projects, I think, are 50% of the battle, and projects you are required to complete are the other 50%.
Personal projects encourage you to try new and hard things without too much fear of failure.
Required projects make you learn something and complete it.
Both are absolutely essential to craft a well-rounded dev. -
I really want to like Fedora, but it feels like they're trying too hard while also not trying hard enough...1
-
ColdFusion and all ColdFusion devs should be executed. Its a god-awful software from the 90's and if you still use it you're either braindead or ignorant.
Shut up about legacy CF code too! No one cares whether or not your embeddable calendar would be hard to make in JS; fucking figure it out.
I realise that CF may make things easier in the short run, but in the long run you'll have introduced so much technical debt that you'll run crying back to JS anyways; CF is so hard to refactor and even to make flexible that you would spend less total time over an application lifecycle learning JS.11 -
How hard it is percieved by management to do something in code is proportional to whether or not it's a task that sales or the CEO wants, versus what the developers need. Developers want to rewrite something, or fix infrastructure? Too much work can't justify it. Sales wants to clone Google Search? We'll expect it by next month.1

It's Friday, I just want to go home and work on my side project.
At the end of the day some co-workers ask me to join for a beer. It's too hard to resist, it's just one beer. Just one beer? Who am I lying to? Its probably going to end the same way as last friday and the friday before that.
This is why I don't have time to work on my side projects.
I don't look forward to the headache tomorrow.
It's too hard to say no.
Does anyone of you feel the same way?3 -
Why things are fucking hard when you're not too good and not too bad at work. I'm like normal dev just throw things at me give me any task any framework I will learn it, I will solve production issues, I will help my co-workers to get their shit done even my JIRA is clean but it feels like I'm going nowhere. I'm like an average guy who knows many things other than normal guys or devs (by considering I'm junior and the people who are working with me).
I'm feeling like I'm in a fucking loop, where every day is same.
Is there anything I can do? which will make me feel little better?
I think every guy on earth have some innovative ideas even I have some(of course some of them are implemented already even they are kinda same, even some ideas are totally new, some are not possible, some requires much knowledge of certain field). But by just having an awesome idea doesn't change anything.
Maybe I'm not trying hard, there are several other reasons which are coming in my way but of course, I shouldn't tell any reasons. -
You know you should tidy up some space when your ssd has more space left then your hard drive

Hosting Rails is such a pain in the butt.
Heroku, too expensive
DigitalOcean, hard to maintain unless using Hatchbox (Hatchbox, too expensive)
Shared cPanel hosting, too limited, too slow...

I hate iOS so much. Just hit a nasty bug where "optimizer" in browser sometimes randomly replaces a function with a number. Like WTF? Was developing a webpage working on iOS too easy, so they enabled a hard mode where some of your functions may turn on you?1

Previous company turned from Web Dev E-Mail Marketing into a Service company with more than 50% phone support so I left.
New company, Product focused on web and mobile. 2 months in: Well yeah guys, new strategy. We'll stop feature dev on the web and go into maintenance mode.
That's just great. Thank you very much.
Now I'm too lazy to go through hiring again and just feed my inner rage.
It's hard to keep it in sometimes =__= -
I feel so fucking proud after finally finishing what i started coding
I delayed so many days and procrastinated because it seemed way too fucking hard to code it
But i sat down and forced myself to do it despite it being hard
Yes i broke my fucking head trying to figure it out but i somehow figured it out
And it is finally fucking done
Fucking good Lord thank you2 -
Me(the first day fo spring semester): Data Structures and Algorithms shouldn't be too hard of a class! This will be interesting!

Had multiple calls with a Google recruiter, I had my reasons for not being super interested and he suggested I think it over for the weekend. The next Monday he calls back for the third or fourth time and after politely telling him I wasn't too excited about the nasty commute it would require he muttered "what the fuck is wrong with you?" and slammed the phone down so hard I swear he must have broken the base unit.3

Today I learnt by hard, that even best management don't want to hear how bad things are.
You're supposed to shut up, and make things shine.
You can't fix few years of sh*t in 3 months? You can't work with people who don't understand basics? You can't fake results to show to the management?
Too bad...13 -

A few weeks ago I posted about attempting to learn vim. It was hard to get started, but holy shit I'm glad I stuck with it.
I'm by no means an expert(pretty far from it), but I'm trying to learn new commands to use each day. I actually look forward to opening up my terminal and typing. I can say that in a few short weeks, I already feel faster than in my old text editor.
Oh, and tmux is awesome too!9 -
I shot myself in the foot again!!
These incident usually happen at restless night.
Some night I become too restless so I do what any programmer would do, I program.
The "novel" idea just come up and I code until I become too tired. I usually finish the prototype of the project before I fell asleep.
I usually found out that I have reinvent the wheel the next morning! Great. My "novel" idea is not too "novel" after all.
It is hard to find the novel project these day since it is too hard to beat the decade of collective intelligence of programmer.8 -
Computer society in High school
So while I was in high school, I got excited over the computer society because I thought I could learn a lot of programming stuff from them. I joined and quickly realized that that was a big mistake. They were teaching stuff that you learn from the computer classes in grammar school, eg MS Office, email clients.
I started to learn programming myself through learning online, eventually being the best student in the society. The teacher in charge chose me to teach the class next year, but it cannot be too advance as people would get bored and confused.
Why does classes have to be like this, cannot be too hard. Has to be something that clearly everyone knows. This kind of bullshit has to stop. -
Do you care about your workplace/employer?
I feel quite a bit of stress, and a good friend of mine told me I "probably do it to myself" (working too hard and/or caring too much)
From him I heard that I care too much about stuff I don't get payed to do.
(Think management and server related stuff while I'm just a web developer)
So my question is either, do you care about what's going on? Do you think nah fuck it? Where do you draw the line?3 -
Gitlab keeps telling me that I should 'update ASAP' but I can't. What the fuck ubuntu is it too hard to upgrade someting to the latest version? Or am I just simply too stupid? Fuck!2

Hello devs. This happens to be my first rant. And I got a question to start off.
I'm looking for an existing public/open-source React project which is not too hard to understand and has a good folder/file structure and code structure. Something that gives me an idea of how a good production level code and project should be.
Any recommendation is appreciated. Can be your own project too.
Thank you 😊.10 -
I read: "Don't change your implementation to do tests"
Then I read: "If it's too hard to test, your implementation is too complex"
Then we can get into test terminology itself, which is its own mess:
http://xunitpatterns.com/Mocks,%20F...
sheesh, if you thought the whole javascript / framework / web ecosystem always feels immature and behind other areas of software, i'm about to argue that testing patterns are even further behind8 -
My css is such a delicate house of cards I'm afraid if any user looks at the UI too hard it will break. why did I think Friday css would be a fun way to end the week...2

Hi I just joined this great Community and here is my thoughts about programming tap "++" if you agree if not then change your mind.
For me programming is like becoming wizard of next generation. Like wizard you can control or create anything because in future you will find electronics containing programs written by a wizard (programmer). We are not people who can repair computer but greater then that because a pc is just a box without programs (software)
You are reading this article because you loves challenges and you are hard working too.1 -
i think this is about getting interviewed, but when we were looking for interns it was really hard to gauge how much each of them knew, cause they lied like hell on their resume.
we ended up picking a boy that knew virtually nothing and a girl that was pretty good on her feet.
it didn't matter too much, cause we always had planned to teach them everything, but the boy kept lying so we didn't get any results from him for a while.
we also had an attitude problem from him for a while. it looked like he wasn't that interested in doing anything. that's also something that's hard to pick up in an interview, and we had to beat that shit out of him (figuratively).1 -
Weather rant. Apparently, it rained too hard and we lost power. Now our UPSes are drained, servers are shut down, and we have no network connectivity. The whole town is without power. For at least 4 hours.

At least I have devRant and my mobile phone to keep me entertained.4 -
Stupid Windows Update back at it again with the Fall Creator's Update. More like Fail Creator's Update. My poor laptop took it too hard and the built-in mobile hotspot feature is currently bugged and not working, with the ICS service in task manager stuck at 100% you usage. Restore to previous version or not to restore to previous version? That my friends is the question. *picks up Ubuntu 17.10 live disk*2

A noob here, please don't judge too hard.
My major is maths and philosophy(mainly doing logic in philosophy), and even though we had python in maths, it's so basic I don't even think I can say I learnt anything (sololearn on my phone taught me more lol)
Does anyone have experience of transferring to IT after or during a maths degree? Not rly asking for advice, just want to hear life experiences and maybe learn something!6 -
I need to add new feature into the program which I wrote years ago so I start digging up the source code. The project is written in a language which I no longer code in.
That code is really poorly written with most of them don't have tests. I also find out that previous self is really a genius since he can keep track of huge project with almost no documentation.
To make matter worst, there are unused components (class, feature) in the source code. "Current me" have a policy of "just adding only a feature you need and remove unused feature" but it seem the "previous me" don't agree with the "current me".
The previous me also have the habit of using writing insane logic. I can remember what particular class and methods is doing but I can't figure out the details.
For example one method only have 5 line of code but it is very hard to figure out what those do.
The saving grace is that he know the important for method signature and using immutable data structure everywhere.
I was under the influence of caffeine and have a constant sleep deprivation at the time (only sleeping about 4 hour every day) so I can't blame him too hard.
I can't blame him too hard, right?
Could someone invent a time machine already? Invent time machine not to save the world but to save the developers from himself.4 -
I've been told a number of times that I spend too much time in front of my computer "playing games", where I am actually working hard on work projects and personal projects.

Some people will just never understand how much dedication and effort my job as a web developer requires.8 -

Did anyone hear of Twitter limiting viewing tweets to 300 to new unverified accounts, 600 to older unverified accounts and 6000 for verified accounts? You can't view tweets if you are not signed up, too... They did say it was a temporary thing, but still is a pretty weird move, if you ask me.
This is gonna fuck over so many people it's hard to put into words.15 -
I had a problem with too many backups from our personal data (Photos, videos etc.)
Always I had 1-2 hard drives to backup all important files every time.
Too many duplicates!!
So I created a batch file that for every image-video file type in my backup , will move only one in a new folder, sorted by daytime taken and in a folder of that year, then it renamed all with the datetime of the file.
Now I have a great backup sorted by year in folders since 2003. Just saved me from 2 terabyte duplicates and I have now 600gb sorted backup files!2 -
Coding would be fun right now.
But seems like i gitta do a night shift to rock network technology test tomorrow. The most annoying thing about this test is, that we have to calculate ip addresses by hand. Not too hard, but damn.. We are not allowed to write it down in hex, only binary (while calculating). And he wants to see interim steps in our calculations.. Even with IPv4 addresses it will be a great amount of 0s and 1s to write.
I better look for a second pen to take with me..1 -
I thought I had lost a password to devrant on my old phone tried to rest my password I don't no which email I used among my army of emails address

So on Friday I completed my last day of full time employment to break out into the world of freelance. Sunday night my PSU decides life is too hard and cooks itself... Is this a sign of things to come?
AMAZON PRIME ALL THE THINGS! -
Some idiot fixing bugs in production and overwriting files without updating his git repo when I pushed another bugfix live.
Boss to me: "it's your job to get the fix live!"
I FUCKING HATE MONDAYS!
screw performance i'm gonna run gulp.watch in production and just git reset it to last release when someone fiddles with files on the server :( -
The secondary access point stopped working, turns out the date/time is wrong. You guessed it, the ntp server is hard-coded in the firmware (last version), no option to change it, it a linksys but not supported by openwrt.
Grabbed a second one, flashed with openwrt, same shit, and can't access by ssh because it's an old dropbear build.
Hate trashing things, but sometimes too much is too much 🍺2 -
When my Firefox window is too narrow devRant completely shits all over itself and glitches so hard that rants cannot be scrolled anymore unless I make the window larger and go apeshit on the scrollbar until it fixes itself again.
I thought my mouse broke.2 -
People:I don't have to work that hard, I work smart.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my hard drive… and my RAM… even my keyboard. The IDE I’ve lost… the consumers I’ve lost… won’t stop hurting… It’s like they’re all still there. You feel it, too, don’t you?3

I am a chinese dev with 5-6 years experience, working on c/cpp/golang for backend server and PHP for web.
But I still feel hard to learn JAVA and JAVA web framework. You know it just has too many bultshit too learn, which is meanless to me.
Do you no-chinese guys also think so?2 -
Adding a couple functions to free software, rebranding, then selling to customers.
I know that there are other companies that do this, but still feels like stealing from the authors and ripping off customers at the same time.
Maybe I am too sensitive, but I'm deeply disturbed by this and I'm having a really hard time getting work done.4 -
I'm having the dawning realization, reading the utf specification and thinking "parsing the data files isn't too hard..." that the little side project on a side project on a side project isn't going to be finished until like, Christmas.
Fuck.7 -
I've worked 16 hours per day for 3 days just because the Diwali was coming and there were too many holidays, so they kinda peeled me hard....
They decided to deliver things in 2-3 days which was supposed to be 18 days with proper planning and QA but yea fuck everything...... -
That moment when you neglect to study a DP problem you saw because you thought it was too hard.
But it shows up during your super important interview and you have no idea how to do it.
Hello, darkness my old friend.1 -
hard choice guys help me out
AI development needed, but little to no resources, also should a use a gpu or a cpu for this calculations
tesla k70 gpu -
google cloud - $0.7/hr
aws - $0.9/hr but full support upfront if any device issues and device switch instantly
dwave 2000q - don't know because too extreme for medium to large scale apps, also it's a qauntum computer , prices might not be by an hour but by month/year3 -
My family is well aware of what I do. In fact 2 of my siblings are web devs too! For my mom, she knows I make websites, but she thinks it's something I do which is really a hard thing to do.

Asked teacher about participating at local programing olympiad. Other classmates who are good at it said its not worth it cuz its too hard, but I still have hope 😓2

So i got another reason to hate windows.
During decrypting bitlocked external hard drive it got disconnected and guess what the partitions didn't showed up in windows and everytime i connected hard drive windows get stuck. I thought the drive and all data of about 300gb is gone. None of the softwares worked (Also tried diskpart to list disks but it got stuck too). After about a week i live booted linux distro and guess what hard drive is working perfectly in linux.
And decryption was also successful without interruption.
Linux never disappoints.2 -
Did an assignment where we had to emulate deadlock using C and openMPI, I wanted to make a generalised resource manager process and create deadlock by locking some resources using the other processes, but my teammate said that would be too hard and instead the resource manager was hardcode with for loops for the number of transactions we were gonna make cause it was just a proof of concept.
Then my marker literally leads with, let me tell you the story of a good programmer, and a better programmer. The good programmer writes a function called destroy_earth(), but the better programmer writes a function called destroy_planet(earth) and passes in earth. I sighed so fuckin hard, I should have spoken up. -
Dear Microsoft, I see what you were going for, and I love you for it; but for the love of god, please fucking fix the clusterfuck that is Nuget.
I use a private feed for client work, and I have the public source registered too, so why would installing a new .core template from Nuget fail just because it tried the private feed first and shit itself?
It really shouldn’t be this hard.
Sincerely,
Brolls -
Omg, I can barely see! I think I’ve been working too hard. 123 days straight, 10-14 hours per day. Maybe I’ve lost my mind?10

Adding more random half-started projects to my hard drive.
I would put them on github but then I'd have WAY too many reps that don't function and I'd feel like I'm wasting storage on github.
At some point I need to get motivation to work on some of these6 -
Has anyone else found that not all USB C inputs are the same? You can't just buy an cable and expect it to plug into any socket.
1. I replaced the cable for a power pack, but the new one didn't fit my OP6 socket well, no clicking and have to push it in very hard to get it to charge, and still eat to fall out
2. The pixel 2 cable fits it nicely and all cables are ready to plugin and work
3. I tried charging my new Pixel 4a with ur though but very hard to plug in. Had to install the charger and cable that came with.
4. Amazon Fire takes all of them nicely and send all the others can use the cable that came with it too8 -
incredible how many clowns are out there... saw a guy asking about "blocks" and "plugins" on reddit about gatsby... what is this, 2001 with PHP? GTFO or learn your shit, its clear you are an absolute clown. its 2023, nothing is hard unless you make it hard (deep truth that only the good ones will understand; stubborn idiots will remain stubborn and bitter)
i'm too wasted too put in tags; you already know what they would be
on the bright side, rewatched harry potter 1... damn i gotta reread the books again, fucking classic stuff
inb4 jk rowling haters; you'll never even have a thousandth of her genius you stupid illiterate fucks
i'll die on this hill infinite times like fucking edge of tomorrow3
