So i was playing around with terminal apps in node.js a few weeks ago and made a CLI version of devrant. Images get converted to ascii just for fun. This is about was far as it goes for me though - anyone want to take it over? (The code is shit - this was a midnight proof of concept). Currently there's pretty much just the rant listings, the login works too but I think @dfox would need to approve it's use.
Next script I'm writing is going to be a terminal rant posting tool so I can rant from my server 😉

So the guy who's pretty much in charge of this project allotted three hours yesterday for me to teach another employee how to use the tool I developed.
Within 20 minutes, the employee told me it was pretty straightforward and he didn't really have any questions. The only changes I need to make are minor clarification and organization changes to the documentation.

So today I decided to switch to angular 4(material) on a project I had done. I have to say I am shocked by the sheer size of the node modules dependencies I have to install. Why wouldn't they just ship it all in one package. 😤 I had to install the client, material SDK, animations etc and all this is happening over shit sub-saharan Africa internet speed. I have been setting up for the past 5 hours and I'm only halfway through. If anyone reading this rant has a company that works to bring internet to Africa please hurry. We need you.

BA – Client wants a big black four legged animal, long tail, less hair. Having trunk is mandatory. The same was documented, signed off and sent to offshore for development! Based on requirement all features are supported in base product (as buffalo), for trunk alone a separate customization is done.

Hey guys and ladys. I've got another little rant about my teacher.
As some of you may know, i finished my final exams last week, so basically every relevant grade is done. Every teacher except of my special snowflake programming teacher spends the lessons casually talking with us (some even say we dont need to show up anymore).
Little backstory: Grades need to be done on 18th, June and i get my certificate on 22nd.
Back to my rant. Special Snowflake is different. He wants ANOTHER project. This is totally his idea and is nowhere mentioned in our curriculum. It has to be done until next friday, it has to be C# and we need a detailed documentation. This wouldn't be a problem normally - if I wouldn't be moving at the moment. Special Snowflake knows this but doesn't care.
Except from the criteria above he wants it to be:
- fancy
- loved by everyone. Literally we need to make something EVERYBODY wants in their daily life
- good looking
- everyone should want to pay money for this
How am I supposed to come up with an idea and program the shit out of it in less than 2 weeks, which i need to paint my new office and pack some more stuff.3 -

I know it is because of the time counter being at 0 and I need to relogin to reset it, but what if I was a regular dumb client? To add more salt into it, what if I was someone in his 90s.

Why everyone and their toy cars gotta be jumping on the bed when I’m trying to sleep?
Rant #2:
For months now, I get bleary eyed and tired every time I look at work. Focusing and being productive is almost impossible. I’m cheery and alert, then sit down, open my editor, and find I can’t focus. Moments later I feel like I need a nap.
Rant #3:
I get interrupted an average of every 3-5 minutes, basically every day, all day long. The more this happens, the more tired and angry I become. I often have to resort to yelling, throwing toys that appear on my desk/keyboard, and blasting loud music I don’t want to hear through noise canceling headphones.

Is it any wonder I can’t focus or think or do anything but feel like I’m falling asleep? Is it any wonder I’m perpetually angry and frustrated?
I can sort of fix the interruptions by locking myself away in my monster’s room. But I’m still so tired and bleary and can’t focus. I don’t know what to do, or even what I can do. Vacation didn’t help. Another would doubtlessly be just as effective, and certainly wouldn’t improve my boss’s view of my performance.

So i work at this small robotics start-up company I Copenhagen.
The first dumb part is that it only uses interns as staff, because then they don't need to pay people. (I am working part time, for free. Just to get experience (I am only 20 btw))
So.. I often get into an argument with my boss, since she is a designer with a "passion" for robotics (she has no clue how to do anything related to the work) But I often try to explain to her some current limitations in the staff, and what is possible for us to do, but she will never listen. She really wants us to design our own microcontroller board PCB, and she want it at the size of a coin. However when I tell her that none of the, non paid works has the experience or education to design such a thing, she never wants to acknowledge it, and it really pisses me off.
And her dad, who is the top boss, only care for esthetics when he is making a work environment, which is dumb when we just need to develop stuff...

Why do people need to bother about my phone? I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and I am perfectly ok with it. You don't have to shove your iPhone to my face and tell me to try iOS. Acting like iOS is the only shit matters. I am perfectly ok with my 230 SGD phone, the customisability of Android and not having to worry about my credit bills.19 -

Everyday, I am amazed at developers like those here on devRant. I look up at you in awe and admiration, always thinking about how awesome your life probably is, even though you rant about it sometimes. I want to be like many of you in the future.

I started my new position in Ireland about a month ago (relocated from Switzerland) and it‘s amazing how awesome life can be despite working full-time..
I have a 8-5 job, I usually get home around 6PM and have 6 hours left for myself every evening.. no calls, mails or similar after I leave the office.

So at the end of February, my 8 year marriage met it's catastrophic end and I had to immediately relocate, with nada, to a state I've never before set foot in. I was hoping to find an entry level tech position, as I am largely self taught and don't have any certs. So far nothing. I spent 7 years as a cable tech, have to wait another few months to apply at the cable company, but everywhere else tells me I'm overqualified, or need certs/experience in the field. It's a bit discouraging. That's it. Rant over.4

Have reviewed all the material available but past exams are useless because new_prof == new_format.
This is not even a rant, I'm just scared because to get into the major I need an average between this and programming of 82. I fucked up in the second midterm and got a 50/100. Everything was so perfect (at least above 80) and now I need more than 70 in this final. I'm feel I can get more than 70 but I had the same feeling during the midterm I fucked up.

So, I was in the middle of a rant about how disorganized maintenance is this weekend, but husband said he might have to go to the ER for a headache that got worse after he passed out in formation and no one caught him.

I find it quite difficult to focus, the constant chatting, the constant questions, phone ringing, surprise meeting, more question, arrays of interruptions and questions again. I believe I would be a lot more productive if left alone in the total, undiscontinued silence.

Today we got told again that we need to develop a personal programming style. I asked him how we were supposed to do that while being restricted by his demands. He tried to justify this with bullshit about how to not declare variables. As i told him that wasn't my point at all he stuttered and couldn't say anything. I heard that you need a lot of math knowledge to become a developer. Is this really true? I don't see where the math comes into play while programming (especially complex stuff). I've been studying C# for quite some time (few years) and I consider myself fairly good at it.

Story is:
Working on a new project where I need to talk to a web service (also made by me).
Started writing in Java, all is cool and unit tests pass.
Downloaded Android Studio 3 Beta 1 and converted my Java code to Kotlin, That AsyncTask did not look nice in kotlin, converted it to async & await feature and I must admit lots of code removed, no more need to create a new fucking AsyncTask every time the app sneezes for data!
I feel like I'm working with C# but with difference in syntax.

I've been away from devRant (and other social media) for a few days because I thought i needed to concentrate on a project that I'm currently working on.
I just realized that I need this, I really need to rant! There is just too much to rant about. Like how fuckin annoying tomcat is, (don't ask me, someone is paying for me to use it), or how eclipse is happily hugging over 1gb of my ram, ( again don't ask), meanwhile vscode is doing just the same thing (debugging a tomcat server) with less than 300mb! TLDR: What's your favorite REST API Documentation tool?
I'm about to start developing a really large REST API. I have never really had need to document my previous API's since they were small, self explanatory and had only me using them. Aside from this one being too large for me to keep track of there is also a remote team that will need to integrate with it.
Basically I need write exceptional documentation while using as little time as possible. I love postman and am planning to use it for documentation since I currently use it to test during development anyway but I have seen some really neat looking tools like swagger and apiary so I figured I would check for some other suggestions.
What is your current / preferred REST API documentation method?13 -

Parents are here to visit, it's lovely to see them. Unfortunately I have a small ass 1 bed flat because rent and house prices are stupid high where I work. I'm sleeping in the living room on an air bed, the fridge/freezer is noisy and about 3 foot from my head so I've been turning it off over night. It didn't get plugged in this morning so shit's getting thrown out. I sleep maybe 5 hours, wake up at 1 too hot, 4 too cold then mother comes in at 6 with the dogs. 3rd night of this. I've taken holiday even though I don't have much to spare because there's no way in fuck I can work feeling like this, I'm a dev and need to be able to think and do intelligent things ffs.
It's nice to see family but it's nice to have my own space too. -

OK, I have a dilemma and I need some developers helps. I'm going to tell you about myself. I am 19 and have been programming since I was 11. I consider myself a full stack web developer and that is where my passion lies... I love web development. The problem is that I am currently studying comp sci at a top 10 uni and I don't really like it. I kind of enjoy it, however, I am mostly doing it for the degree because my goal is to move to the valley (currently in the UK). Why the hell is JS so terrible, and why do so many people resort to using is as a back end. So many packages, so many outdated dependencies. My coworkers and friends have heard me rant about my constant frustration with this terrible setup.
I understand the need for dynamic html but why have we bastardized this language to the extent we have.
Keep your projects up to date, it saves people a lot of trouble in the future.8 -

So following a previous rant, I’ve decided to make the jump and move full time to a Linux setup on my PC, with a windows VM (I do much more Ruby and php at home than Windows stuff, so makes sense to use Linux as everyday os.
The question that I need help with is which distro to go with.
I have experience with Ubuntu, OpenSuSE, and Debian, but I’m not adverse to trying something new, I’m even toying with the idea of Arch (but with a few test runs on a vm first)6 -

I have a German citizenship, but am living in Hungary temporarily. Also, I need internet. So I go to the website of UPC, register, order a package, etc. Just as I would do anywhere else....... Except for the fact , that they just called me that I should send them my passport, because they neither accept my German ID, my Hungarian registration card or anything else. I DON'T HAVE A PASSPORT YOU MOTHERFUCKERS! I LIVE IN THE EU, I DON'T NEED A PASSPORT!!
But the best part was when they told me I should just ask my mother to make the contract for me, because she does have a Hungarian citizenship. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!6 -

Awhile ago I said I'm getting Acer Swift 3. I did. But I don't have it yet.

2 things to rant.
1) Acer is giving a free 4GB RAM as gift which the shop didn't mention when I bought the laptop and extra RAM. So when I get it, I'll have an extra 4GB RAM.
2) I bought it on Tuesday. The shop said they will need to send the laptop to Acer service center for RAM upgrade and expect to get it on Wednesday. I called yesterday, it's still not done.
Let's see if I will get it today.1 -

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, finished an arch linux install, fixed my slow internet connection in linux, installed only the things I need, vs code and google chrome but fuck me!
Google chromes performance is sinking like a rock, dropping about 25-40% of frames in youtube, slow page loading and the sort.
Installed firefox to ensure it wasn't my system and its all running perfect, I don't like using firefox and want to go back to the warmth of chrome, anyone able to help on this one :-(8 -

follow up rant on my apprenticeship situation. I talked to Jo (my trainer). I told him I need more supervision and either someone who teaches me the stuff I need to know to meet the requirements from Hugo (my department mananger) or some further education. Because otherwise I'm not able to write producion ready code. (Keep in mind: I'm a fucking trainee who started their apprenticeship 6 months ago!)
Jo is more than happy to help me and make sure I'll get everything i need. Sadly he has to speak with Hugo and get his ok.
Hugo thinks 2 das of school/week is enough training. (Regardless of the fact that we don't even learn the same languages there we use in our projects.) I told him that way I won't be able to finish my projects.
I hope he reconsiders. How should I learn if nobody's there to teach me? (My collegues are to occupied fixing bugs and implementing new features/ don't know the languages either.)
If Hugo keeps this mindset I have to contact the IHK (a german institution which keeps an eye on apprenticeships).5 -

I finally found something to rant about! So what happened is that I am participating in the Digital Ocean competition (I need to do 5PR's). So I find a report with a lot of scripts. I decide to contribute and write a discord webhook API (send messages through a webhook). The next day, the guy goes "No thanks :)" and closes the PR. Words cannot express how triggered I am. Why do some people like to use ALL the language features. lets use "auto" en "std::tuple" and "std::tie" to hook everything together.. I cannot put something In a list because I now have to use std::move. SURE! If for every line of code I need to lookup what things were again or fixing compile errors it breaks my flow. "std::bind" this and Template that. half of the stuff you don't actually need.. it just complicates things..

I started to learn Matlab today. After I learnt that arrays starting with 1 in the Matlab, I started to think about why using 0 based arrays was made popular in the first place and I realized that C arrays actually just pointers and first element of the array is just a location pointed by array name. There is no need to add number to reach to the first element. After googling it, I saw that my assumption is true. I have been testing out Manjaro and I have to say I'm impressed! Im currently running it on a 2009 hp pavillion(1.8Ghz CPU 2GB ram) and it is super responsive and even ran intellij! Gradle took a while but that's to be expected!

My Windows 10 VM gloriously just shat itself so badly, it's now stuck in a BSOD bootloop (first time ever I managed to get a BSOD in a fucking virtual machine btw) and I need to reinstall it. So I need to download the newest Win10.iso.
But I'm also currently working on a university assignment that requires me to be connected to the university-network via a VPN that's slower than my 90s ADSL connection (~1Mbps) (see my previous rant). So to download the 4.7GB iso it'd take.... I'm bad at maths, so let's just say fucking AGES.
So I spin up another VM with a bridged network to download my Win10.iso with Gigabit speed to set up another VM.... wonders of modern technology -
Ended up with 16.04 and 18.04 ubuntu in dual boot. (see last rant).
Fixed graphics issues on 18.04. The fix envolved setting stuff in grub. Ok.
Now we apparently need 16.04 again and can kich the 18.04.
np. Let me just boot my 16.04

It boiled down to the grub settings. so Depending on if I need 18.04 or 16.04 I need to fiddle with grub. great.

I am working on a mobile app which contains talking to a REST service, I usually put all network calls in one class. Down side if it becomes a big class it becomes a pain to maintain. Any thoughts?
For a backend service I usually go with Repository design and it is working out well for me. But for mobile Apps I'd like to see if there is a better approach4 -

Also, this is actually my second model! I cracked my screen and tried to replace it. Somehow I managed ti puncture the battery and nearly set my house on fire but that is another story.
This rant is about how the sd/sim-card read is FAILING ME! Everytime I call someone, my sim-card ejects spontaneously, thus ending the call. It's so goddamn annoying having to recall the same person every two minutes...
I tried inserting the sim-card in the other slot because it has dual sim but nothing changed...guess I need a new Phone. FML2 -

I hate this modern fad of "composed" , "modular" extension/plug-in development. ALL I want to do is add two dropdowns to a phpBB forum, one for users and one for a single admin setting.
Guess what? I need TEN fucking files to make this extension work. Fuck your fucked dependency injection, fuck learning your whole bloody "ecosystem" (kill me already), fuck having a "tutorial" that doesn't explain what half the settings are...
It really drives me nuts that I have to spread my code over so many files to make this work.

Yesterday I have to do something I never thought I'd need to. A little background: I dislike PHP and MS SQL Server; however, they pay the bills.
So yesterday in order to get work done I had to install in my Linux machine a Windows 7 VirtualBox with SQL Server on it and had to compile the php mssql modules by hand and... everything worked flawlessly. It was pretty awesome.
Kudos to VirtualBox and the team behind the open source php mssql modules.4 -

Now that this drama shite is calming down, here's my tuppence on how connections management should be implemented.
We really need something that is in between blocking and doing nothing. This, in my opinion, is temporary silencing. Having the ability to mute a person or rant, or notifications altogether, for a set period of time would be very useful when a situation needs de-escalating. As this social network (let's not beat around the bush, this is a social network) grows in size, this will be a handy tool for calming storms without burning bridges permanently.
To sum up, I think it would be a good idea to have three available options for notification muting:
- mute notifications/this person/rant for 24 hours
- mute notifications/this person/rant for 7 days
- mute this person/rant forever
As for implementation, I'd wrap up the call to the user's notification assembly like so:

And use a date field in the DB to handle timescales.

Not a rant but wanted to get some thoughts from everyone.
I have health problems and unfortunately just had a seizure a few days ago.... Below is directed at my managers. They are nice guys and when I do get back I need them to accommodate although I feel the entire team should be run like this.
Now taking a step back, I see I need to reestablish my way of doing things/mojo. I cannot handle constant chaos and changes. I have to be in a calm, relaxed environment where I can think and enjoy coding: finding and building solutions. That's the summary of how I got into programming and learned to pick things up.
Furthermore, the ideas of the Phoenix Project and what I've shared over the years are actually what I need to be able to perform and excel. Probably the same for everyone and a good way to preempt burnout. It's just in this case, I am the first to go. I cannot be jumping around all the time and need to establish a comfort/expertise zone (but I do and can extend out when given enough time and opportunity).
I'm thinking the EU team probably operates like this, in a calm and orderly environment, less the rare issues.8 -

3 weeks ago I packed 2 small changes in one commit, because I was sure (and obviuosly lazy) that no one will ever need these special changes separate.
Guess what happened today? Right, I had to make a change on an old version and needed the one half of this commit.
Cherry-picking ended up in changes I don't need and furthermore some nice collisions.
Thank you very much, past me, for saving 2 minutes 3 weeks ago, which now wastes half an hour. -

I feel very frustrated about this situation. I'm studying so I haven't many time to work but I worked last two years and now I feel as a bird with clipped wings. I need a side project, something mine, to work on, to put myself in. I don't need to get money from it but the revenue it's only a confirmation about the success provided by hard work and dedication. I can't fill this emptiness with the study. I feel I just need to work on something I believe, see it grows up and came alive. Every project I start and every line of code I write seems meaningless. This situation is a strange existential drama and hurts me. It's like I forgot how to be satisfied programming. I live in this recurrent melancholy and I don't feel realized.

I remember when I was at vocational school, my teacher sat us down and had use start web development with HTML, (HTML wasn’t my first programming experience but that’s a rant for another day) and after I printed Hello World and changed it’s color, I was even more hooked than ever. This is something that’s fun, and interesting and I don’t need to pay to do or be around specific things to be able to practice. I can do this at home or at school and I can make my own programs if I need them, automate mundane tasks, and learn so much more about technology than ever.
And the final thing that sealed the deal was I could do this and make money and not be stuck in a field I would be miserable in. Which was a very important factor for me.4 -

I've used a lot of crappy systems. But being forced to use this is painful. On Linux I make it somewhat bearable by using Pidgin but that has its limitations (no file sharing, etc.)....but after attempting to use the "new" Skype for Business it doesn't do that simple task either...so Lync 2011 ***2011*** for me. It's 2016, they know that right?2 -
I don't live in a vacuum. I need to open an occasional Adobe bs format file (Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop). An occasional MS Office file too (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). And don't tell me LibreOffice supports .docx. It doesn't support edits suggestion mode well enough. I needed AutoCAD for a period of time.

I have a 7yo laptop which, for the last 4 years, has been a Ubuntu single boot.
It was previously on Windows Vista, as it's shipped with it. Worth nothing to say, after a couple of years, terrible performances, so I never thought twice to reinstall Windows.
Now, that I'm in need to write C# along with CUDA in VS (2013 Express is the last version that supports CUDA 6.5, last version for my old GT330M), I installed Windows 10.

I need to quickly test how my web app works on mobile
PROBLEM: some of my features require https. I can test from my pc on localhost just fine, since localhost works.
From Android, however, those features are blocked, since I reach my webapp with my IP address; it is not localhost so Chrome raises a middle finger when I try to access the camera from an unsecured website -and rightly so.
I really need to get these tests done, how am I supposed to do?
I install an SSL certificate on my pc?!?
I disable Chrome security checks on my Android?!? (is that even possible?)

Now I'm not much aware of history of editors but the moment I've installed vs code I thought "Microsoft has ripped all its ideas in vs code from the sublime guy, a sole developer of a free app" and I was pissed. A follow up to the last rant.
Trying to get that angular working with my rest api. But frickin observables and promises. I built my angular based on the official tutorial from the angular website. Sadly that tutorial uses promises, which aren't that suited for communicating with an api. So now I'm learning/implementing observables into the angular.
BUT I'M GETTING SO MUCH ERRORS. CONFUSION IS RISING.

Guys need help. I have dual booted Antergos with existing Windows 10. After installating Antergos it did not boot, Windows 10 was booting directly.
So I fired a command in Windows 10 cmd
bcdedit set {bootmgr} /boot/efi
And then I was able to boot into Antergos via Grub bootloader.
Now the problem is that I can not see Windows 10 option in Grub bootloader.
I tried to Google the solution and I came to the conclusion that if I install the Grub again system should automatically detect the Windows installation.
But I'm not sure where to start. Has anyone faced this problem beofre?

I've lost count how many times windows has decided to wake itself up from sleep mode to update. Sometimes it doesn't even update, I will be laying in bed and it will turn on, I will then have to sit up for half an hour waiting for it to finish (otherwise my pc will just be on all night) then when it is finally done, I will get up and go to turn it off and it says "Turn off and update" and need to update again.
To make it worse, it restarts itself while updating, so all the stuff I wanted to keep open by putting it in sleep mode will be gone.
Is there any way to prevent windows from doing this update during sleep mode? If not I am going to need to completely turn off my PCs power when it is in sleep mode, which it just a pain for me.1 -

To anybody with MySQL/Mariadb experience, how different are these two as I need to pick one for a database application I'm building.
Also, and God will I sound like an amature for asking, is it best practice to debug and deploy the SQL database on an actual hosted server or to just do it on the client PC? I have both and I want to work with whichever one will give me less of a headache.😣

Switched to non-google for every device I own, however:
When I accidently go to Google and try to search, it tells me that I am blocked for suspicious activity and need to solve a captcha - If I do, the current search works.. Shortly after tho, it gives me the same thing again.
Any idea how to get more detailed info about the issue, e.g. Ensure none of my systems is quietly participating in a botnet?
PS: why should I care? Just don't use Google! That's right, yes, it still bugs me tho7 -

I haven't used CI/CD to actually deploy an app. But I really want to automate all of that in my company. We use gitlab, so the logical thing is to use Gitlab's devops(?). Anyone who can guide me on an adventure for starting on CI/CD? Not sure if I need to give any more info, please let me know14 -

Hi i dont do open source projects often .
But i want to publish some as open source .
I dont know much about the licensing i only know about gpl3
I dont know if any license offers this thing i need or not .
I need one that allows others to compile and publish their own with ofcourse the given credits
But they cant sell the app . I want keep it free for ever
I saw some big projects that people compiled and sold and that really hurts and the project developer got unmotivated and discontinued the project :(6 -
!rant more advice needed for weather API
I am making a spur of the moment travel app built around a weather API. The problem is I need to feed in temperature and humidity for a date and get a list of countries and all the APIs I'm looking at work on location requests.
So, I plan to solve this using a JavaScript webworker and set intervals to build my own database that I can query.
Would it be better to use a script external to my API or keep the business logic internal?

!rant Hi, I have a question. I want to change my CPU, from a socket AM1 to AM3 to make my PC faster, it is the first time I upgrade it. I want to know if it is necessary to reinstall the OS. I have search in the Internet and it says you need to reinstall if it is windows because of the drivers. My OS is ArchLinux and I didn't need to install any driver when I first install it, do I really need to reinstall?4

Recently received my ESP8266 and for bad or for worse quickly flashed it to use thingsSDK and espruino.
I have setup a webserver on it but at the moment you need to go to its local ip to see the page, does any one have tryed this before and overcome to redirect all requests to that page? Any ideas are welcome, i know this can be done easly with LUA but cant code LUA, yet...

Quickly! I've got a report due in about 2 hours, I've got the data and already some charts generated with tools.
Now, I need a nice timeline generator for calculated data. Something where I can plug in times and durations — and get back a fancy looking timeline. Similar to what Chrome dev tools does for network inspection.6 -

In Android 12 after upgrading, the Square button (recent apps) stops sometimes and then I need to reboot to get it back...
But instead, so I didn't have to reboot, I switched to Gesture navigation... Which actually isn't that bad after getting used to it?

Been doing webdev for 2 years straight and I need a change of pace so in my free time I wanna do a project with either Java, c# or c++.
No experience with either of them and I have no idea what I could do as a project.

I don't like how the hardware industry is so far ahead than the software industry. Almost all new hardware invented these days are a massive overkill for any software that is out there.
Qualcomm Snapdragon has 8 Gen 2 chips out but there aren't any android games that need more than Snapdragon 888.
NVIDIA has RTX 4090 out but there aren't any games that need more than RTX 2070 to run with good FPS.
PS5 and Xbox Series X have a very little library of games that can't run on a previous gen console.11 -

I'm actually looking into how to repair it and what stuff I need, so far I know about b7000 glue to keep I water resistant after the repair, of course some prying tools, maybe a hair dryer, and of course the screen itself, anything missing or am I good to go?

I need advice: study 4th year (Bachelor's) or work?
Thought I saw a similar thread a while back but can't find it in search right now.
21 years old, end of this year I'll graduate with a diploma (3rd year). I have one option of university here because they're the only one that offer my course (IT instead of CompSci like the others). Their administration and general status is not stable (see my earlier rant or Google CPUT protests in the news). Couple this with a deep desire to move out (housemates and drama) and wanting to keep working instead of going back to study.
Thoughts? My current best bet I think is to hedge my bets and apply anyway, then if I don't want to study next year I won't. Still seeking opinions though. Local market (mostly recruiters) values qualification too much. Planning on moving away anyway but will need a job to hold me over until then. -
