I don't get it. Why the **** is windows update the slowest shit on earth. I'm sitting in front of an PC. Last update is 6 month ago. Windows take about 20 minutes to find out which patches are needed and now... Over 1h later... Not even half of them are done.

So I handed in my official resignation last week as I will be changing to a new job next month. So one of the last big things that I have been working on is a Jenkins server for the rest of the team to use and currently writing up the documentation for it.
However I haven't been told who I will be handing over my work to, but the bigger thing I feel is that even if I write all the documentation, no one will actually read it. Reason I think this is because I doubt anyone else in the team will even use the Jenkins server. The major issues are that no one writes unit tests and don't even understand what CI is!
So right now it feels like my final month of work will all be for nothing and makes me wonder if I should even bother writing documentation, especially if it isn't going to be handed over to anyone.5 -

I think God is a developer. I have to say a most impressive feat, even for God, is the idiot algorithm. It has persisted through millennia of attempts to remove it, but it just keeps refining itself. Few years ago I was asked to give advice on a project. There was an intern doing all the work and I even gave him almost ready code to use. And he didn't use it even properly.
And best part is that they thought at the time that it would be finished in couple of months.
After few months I took over and had to deal with the "intern code". Almost all of the code is rewritten.
Status of the project is now very good. We are implementing new features and it has even passed strict security audit done by other company.

The moment, when you just about start a demo on your project and the code is not working at all, is pretty awkward. What makes it worse is that even the master branch is useless. The good thing is that noone noticed it, since the demod feature worked well.

I'm looking into GraphQL and so far so good, but I am finding it hard to implement business rules, for example:
1. Receive request with auth token
2. Know who the user is by extractin userId from token
3. fetch data related to that user only.
I was only able to make it allow or deny if there is a token or not lol5 -

It makes my blood boil when my colleagues (who have been here for ages) know that maintaining dependencies in code is important but don't even action it because they give the excuse of having no time or the pressure of finishing it on time.
It angers me that I'm now in .dll hell and they don't even consider the time or push a valid case to fix the issue. It also frustrates me as I've realised that they have grown complacent/indifferent, not even attempting to change it.1 -

When you're having such a shitty day that you're investigating why something is (obviously) wrong and after ages you find a bug that you just don't even want to admit you made, but then you realise that, even though that's there and would fit the weird behaviour, you realise there's actually a safeguard that, while it doesn't correct for the issue properly, it at least prevents the whole thing from going apeshit...

Well fuck you too windows, my disk is where it is suposed to be, even though the controller is broken. Even linux can still find it. Although it takes a while to load the actual transfer. Recovery of terrabites takes ages

I wanted to get the latest NASA APOD photo with Python. Easy, right? Nope! Firstly, their RSS feed is partly HTML, so feedparser doesn't understand it. Secondly, feedparser doesn't even get the titles of entries correctly.
Which is why I'm trying to parse it in a horrible way using Python regexp. NASA can put humans on Luna but not even get their RSS feeds to parse properly.2 -

This project is such garbage. JavaScript built at runtime with JSP bindings, every form is submitted with Ajax even when it doesn't need it. Ajax calls with HTML in a JavaScript string sent to the server only to be echoed back to the front end to build DOM elements. I literally can't even.2

Progress on my blog (incocast) goes smoothly, even implemented a basic rss feed. Currently the blog is Service Layer only (because I still have to create a front-end)
It might even be interesting to open some api calls to the public... I don't know yet.. Maybe..

For this reason I decided to let the lowercase SQL slide even though it makes me cringe so much... Why is everybody using "wpa_passphrase" instead of "psk" in wpa_supplicant.conf is beyond me. You have an option to avoid plaintext passwords, the wpa_passphrase CLI tool even generates an entry for suppliant configuration, yet it seems nobody is using it.9

How bad is SAP really? I have seen so many rants about it, but it still seems to be thriving. It is used everywhere here in India. I work at IT department of a Hospital, and even they use SAP— the only complains I have heard is it’s cost, so they are slowly replacing it with Open Source alternatives like ERPNext.2

After few weeks I got back to an Electron app. Rebuilt the thing, copied fresh binaries to a Win 10 VM, and the app doesn't even start, it instantly crashes. Literally nothing changed - libraries (and their versions) are same, source code is the same, node version is same, it was built on same machine, VM wasn't even started since then.
Tried a fresh Tux binary, and of course it runs fine.

Installed Spark on mobile ( termux ) and after a hourlong battle managed to connect it as a worker for the master in my laptop.
Doing these things made me understand how underpowered mobile hardware is. I couldnt even unlock my mobile when i ran the master ( just started it.. didnt even run anything ) in my mobile. -
